He also tried not to chuckle at him talking about a shopping centre. Was he trying to explain what that was or was he just rattling on? "Well, if it puts your mind at ease, i'm a Muggleborn myself" he said. Although he got adopted in to a wizarding family at an early age so he knew about the magical world even before getting his Hogwarts letter so this experience was a bit different than his.

"You can take a seat if you want" he said as he motioned to the empty seats with his hand. "Have you tried the icecream here yet? Its amazing" In other words he should. "What's your name by the way?"

Thomas stood there just staring at the seat, did he dare sit down, this older boy was a little bit frightening with all the questions about him skipping out on his parents, he stood there a couple of moments before plonking himself down on one of the spare seats. "Awesome, that's a relief." Thomas smiled. "I was a little bit worried about how I would cope coming from a primary school to such a big boarding school. I got told it's a huge place."

"Oh right, my name. I'm Thomas Longstaff, but I'm known as Tom." He wanted to get that out there now, only his mother used his full name and that was when he was in trouble. "I was just thinking of getting one."

He was unsure if his relief was about him being a muggleborn as well or that he could sit down on at the table, either way, Dorian smiled a little. He liked this kid, reminded him of himself a bit. And then the smile changed in to a laugh as he said that he heard that Hogwarts was 'a huge place' Well, he wasn't wrong about that. "It is. Oh man i lost so many House points during my first year because i kept getting lost and was late for classes" he used to hate that about himself but now that he thought back it was pretty funny. "I remember this one time when i had Astronomy class up at the tower, which is on the same floor as my Common Room but somehow i ended up on the second floor instead and i still haven't figured out how i've done that" he said with a chuckle and shook his head. Good times."Apart from it 'being huge', what else do you know about Hogwarts?" he wanted to know if he was prepared or if he went in blind.

"I'm Dorian" he introduced himself back and looked behind him to see inside of the parlor. "There's no line right now so if you want to buy an icecream i suggest you go now" he said as he turned back to face him. "I'll guard the chair"

Thomas smiled as he left for a couple of minutes. When he returned he had two ice-creams in his hand. both strawberry flavour, he hoped that the other boy liked that flavour ice-cream, he slowly and carefully walked back towards the table as he didn't want to trip up and make a bad impression. "Here you go." Thomas held out his hand so the boy could take one of the ice-creams.

Nova was the luckiest person when it came to siblings. And parents. Notebook open on the table, self inking quill resting on top of it, the soon-to-be sixth year Ravenclaw settled in to enjoy her sorbet and her people watching.

For once in a blue moon, Mercy had yet to be in Flourish and Blotts today as she had already gotten her school books and spent hours on the floor of the shop reading last time she was here. So today she was enjoying walking around and stopping in the music shop for a Melanie Sung record and even grabbing some ice cream. The only thing sad was she wasn't here with Nico doing this. But that was only for a second since having time for yourself was good also.

She was properly exhausted by the time she made it to Floreans and ordered her favorite. But she did see her friend and dormmate one Nova Pascal as he made her way out to the outside seating.

Mercy smiled and made her way over to the spot she made for herself and looked like she was back to analyzing and making a list of something.

"Nova, may I sit"

The sixth year was already eyeing the notebook

One thing that Archer still hadn't gotten used to, despite having spent the first five years in Britain, plus the going on three years she'd been at Hogwarts now? The virtual lack of humidity in the air during the summer. I mean, compared to Arkansas, where you could figuratively smother in it. Which was why she was sitting outside the ice-cream parlor with her cookies n' cauldrons cone (single scoop) instead of inside. The heat wasn't bothering her, especially since she had the table's umbrella open.

Ah, this was the life. The best part? A certain something that had come with her supply list for the year and was now pinned to the front of her romper.

People watching meant that Nova had already seen Mercy coming, and had moved a bag of books from one of the chairs in the hope that Mercy would join her. There was always the possibility that Mercy hadn't seen her, or was too busy to stop, or the dreadful scenario in which her friend was avoiding her (something that had become somewhat of an irrational(?) fear for the Ravenclaw of late) but Nova was prepared.

And it seemed she was right to be. Beaming up at Mercy, she indicated the chair next to her. "Of course you may," she said easily, watching her friends eyes fall to her notebook. The open pages of which were, currently, empty save for a few mindless spiral-drawings of boredom.

"No Nico today?"

Ah right off the bat she asked the question. Not that Mercy expected anything less or anything other question. Mercy actually was not with her today as she knew Nico was busy with family stuff and her little brother Nate. Mercy sat down and smiled while shaking her head.

"No, not today. I was looking at weird shops down the alley since well last time I was here I spent the majority of it on the floor of Blotts reading"

Yeah normal for this Ravenclaw.

"what are you doing here today. Research on boys still?"

Was the first thing she thought of seeing the notebook. Or was she getting a head start on the textbooks for next term? Which while now would be a little surprising. she wouldn't be completely surprised since she is sure Nova did better on OWLs than her.

Nova smiled at that, offering an almost conspiratorial nod. "I'm not surprised - it's so easy to end up there for hours," she agreed. Indeed, she'd spend a while there that morning already, and it was only the sun shining through the windows that enticed her back outside. "Have you been in Cranville Quincey's?" she couldn't help but ask, as Mercy had mentioned looking at the weirder shops. "There's some really interesting things in there."

Looking back at her notebook for a moment, Nova shook her head. "Not boys, no. Just general people research."

Exactly, Mercy knew she would understand how easy it was to lose time in there. not saying it was good or anything to be in there all day. Just it was something she enjoyed. That store name did sound familiar but couldnt remember what was sold there.

"No what do they sell there?"

Was it really weird and inappropriate or just tame...questions and questions. Well if they wanted to get technical boys did count as people so she was watching boys but also everyone else.

"Anyone interesting yet?"

Like people with weird hair cuts, fashion choices, or anything else.

Fiona casually drummed her fingers on the table as she looked around with a look of boredom on her features.

Fiona was going to start her first year at Hogwarts in September and so she was enjoying the freedom while it lasted. She was going to be the first Hogwarts student in her family. Both sides of her family had been Ilvernmorny students so she had not a single idea as to which Hogwarts house she'd be sorted in, though having vaguely read about them, she had her hopes pinned on a certain house.

As of late, it had been a challenge to get away from the responsibilities of being a father, husband, hippogriff breeder and pro Gobstones player. Fortunately, Adi found the time today. He had seen to it that he had finished mot of hi daily work before heading out, leaving poor Benny with his pregnant cousin. Sanjana seemed to have no qualms about the twins she was carrying for him and Benny. Adi amused himself by thinking of how much Sanjana must be flirting be flirting with his husband.

Hopefully, he would finish his business quickly today to head back to rescue Benny. But first, why not have some ice cream? Adi had already grabbed his flavour of choice and was sitting at a table with an open umbrella. Sun glasses were in place to protect his eyes from that scorching sun.

What a peaceful day so far.

It had been a while. Years and years, to be exact.

Agatha Hapgood was back in London. Not for good. Not yet, at least. But she was there nonetheless.

If one didn't know better, the look she was giving those she walked past was one of disdain. Maybe that was just how her face rested, or maybe not. She marched on with her chin up and back perfectly straight, feeling the looks some people gave her. If they were female, she knew they were jealous, if the onlookers were male, she knew they simply couldn't resist her beauty.

Either way, she enjoyed getting such attention and didn't miss a beat all the way until she reached the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron. There was a specific place in Diagon Alley that she always visited whenever she went to London, and this time would be no different.

If her memory served her right, it had been one of the first places she had visited when she was only a little girl. She intended on having the very same flavoured ice cream that she had on said occasion.

The 29 year-old strutted towards the counter and ordered her strawberry ice cream. She glanced at the entrance to the back door, a tiny smirk appearing on her face as she remembered the only day she had been invited back there. She couldn't remember the name of the kid that joined her, nor could she remember what he looked like, but she had kicked his butt.

If Agatha Hapgood were one to chuckle, that would've been the moment for it, but she wasn't. Instead, she thanked the man serving her and paid for her treat. Turning on her heels, she looked around the room to pick a seat.

What a day! Today had been magnificent, wonderful, amazing, stupendous, exciting, and AWESOME!!! Her first REAL day as a witch and she had accomplished so much! This treat was well deserved and mum would never find out about it because she would have it ALL GONE before she met up here. Bernadette had plenty of time to alternate between licking the Ton Tongue Toffee scoop on the bottom of her cone to licking the Cookies and Cauldrons on top, with bits of hot fudge in between.

Wasn't this a wonderful place to be alive? She sighed happily and cracked open her copy of Now That's What I Call Hogwarts Vol. 100. It was totes more exciting than her official books like Hogwarts, A History.

Louise Bones was VERY excited to be in Diagon Alley that day. She had finally convinced her parents to let her attend Hogwarts (which was, apparently, going to be delayed, so she would actually end up going to Beauxbatons, according to the Daily Prophet), so this trip to the alley had been planned so that she could begin her "back to school" shopping. There were a few more things that she would need for her second year, now that she would be attending a school instead of being homeschooled.

She was particularly excited about buying her uniform, strangely enough. On her way to the shop, Louise spotted the ice cream shop she was fond of and convinced her parents to give her a few coins to get some ice cream. That gave them a break to do some of their own shopping and let Louise do what she wanted.

Once she left the shop with a big scoop of ice cream on top of a cone in her hand, the redhead looked for a seat outside and spotted a table with another young girl at it with a big cone and a big book. "Whatcha reading?" Louise asked, inviting herself to sit down at the table with said girl. Hopefully she wouldn't mind.

Abra sighed and looked around the seating area. Her aunt wasn't there, which wasn't totally surprising because Lou had said she was going to get her some cat food for the cat. She wanted a dog though. Maybe she could keep the cat at home, rather than take it with her? She didn't think it wise to give sole responsibility of a cat to an eleven-year-old, when she managed to lose both of her parents. Abra chewed on the inside of her cheek before heading over to someone... her age? Abra couldn't tell anymore.

"Hello-excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?" she asked. Her tone was flat, her face expressionless. She felt rather numb of late. Why was her auntie Lou not back yet?

Fiona was almost ready to leave when a blonde-haired girl of roughly the same age approached her. She couldn't help but notice the tone of the girl's voice but she stayed silent on that matter.

"Yeah, go ahead," Fiona answered in a casual tone, using her foot to push the vacant chair away from the table so the girl could sit down.

"Thanks," Abra said, about to pull the chair out herself when it slid out. For a moment she wondered whether the girl had just done some nonverbal, non wand magic but then she realised that was a silly thought. It was an advanced skill.

Sitting down, and slowly eating a spoon of ice cream, she said "You're not British. Are you from America?" It was probably either there or Canada. Abra had heard they sounded similar. The thought of meeting someone her age who wasn't from the UK was almost exciting.

Charlie was literally getting no school supply shopping done. He was trying hard. Really, he was! But there was a joke shop and a pet shop and even a book shop than ended up having way cooler books than he could ever imagine! On top of that, he'd now come across an ice cream shop. His parents were going to be so mad when they found out he'd spent all his money on things he didn't even need, but he'd deal with that later.

Chocolate Frog! No, no, no... Butterbeer! Uhh...Corned Beef Sandwich? Ewww. Was that for somebody's grandfather to order or something? Umm... Cookies and Cauldrons sounded cool. He'd try that one!

A few minutes later, ice cream in hand, Charlie headed for the seating area. The place was packed, plus there were shopping bags everywhere, which made navigating the tables feel like the a real life maze. Finally, Charlie plopped down into what he thought was a seat belonging to an empty table. He took a nice, long lick of his ice cream then looked up. There was some girl sitting across from him. "Uhh...sorry about that. I thought this was an empty table," he said. Maybe she wouldn't mind sharing it, though!

Abra didn't think she would care about getting to know anyone, actually. She thought she would want to just be alone, protect herself from feeling this grief she suffered. But apparently she was wrong, because what Fiona was telling her was interesting. "I've always wanted to go to New York." Her parents were going to take her one day. Abra looked down at her ice cream, wanting to forget that was no longer possible. She looked back up again and went to open her mouth, when someone interrupted them.

"New York is amazing! There is just so much to do, although living there can be a bit pricey." Fiona revealed, wishing that she was back there but knowing that there was always the chance she'd return in the future.

Swallowing her mouth of ice cream, Abra shook her head. "I don't mind," she said. She paused to take another mouthful of her ice cream, and swallowed it, before turning back to Fiona. "I'm Abra," she said, mostly to her but also to the boy who joined. She wondered whether he was also going to be at Hogwarts, and what year he was.

When Abra introduced herself, Fiona smiled. "Cool name!"

Charlie frowned at Fiona's question. So much for friendly greetings. "Uhh, sorry about that. There's a ton of people crammed into this one area," he replied. And speaking of people, how exactly did he miss not one, but two, girls sitting here? His gaze turned briefly to the second girl. "Thanks," he said, since the first girl had volunteered the second girl to not mind if he stayed here.

He kind of felt like a third wheel in the group they'd formed, but whatever. Girls were weird creatures. What was that his dad always said to him? You can't live with them, can't live without them? Something like that. Thank Merlin he didn't have to share a dorm room with any of them, though. "I'm Charlie," he chimed in. Though, did anybody even care at this point?

Ordinarily, Bernadette had a 'just say no' to 'stranger danger' policy about talking to strangers. But she had mostly forgotten that today in favour of excitedly drinking in everything she could about wizards, wizarding culture, wizard foods... other wizard children...

Here was one now. Bernie eyeballed her with one eyebrow askew, ascertaining the quality of the girl before she spoke to her. Hmm, she had a BIG scoop of her own ice cream, so surely she wouldn't want any of Bernie's, and she was interested in reading, or at least what she was reading. Well, she could be alright.

"Now That's What I Call Hogwarts, Vol. 100," Bernie announced, tipping the book up so the other girl could read the spine. "It has the SCOOP on everything that's happened there in the last 100 years. Like, the SCOOP with SPRINKLES on TOP, ya know." Ya know? It had the DIRT. Pun intended!

Abra thought about that for a moment. "Maybe I'll have to go when I can get a job." She could save some money so that she wouldn't have to borrow any. Her parents left her some money but using it would be admitting they weren't ever coming back, and that was something she refused to be ready for. She cracked a smile and said "Thanks." She liked her name. It was one thing she would always have that her parents gave her.

Abra didn't want to be mean or give off a bad vibe to anyone that was offering any kind of connection. She wanted to be able to start the year at Hogwarts with some familiar faces. "Hi Charlie," she said after swallowing her recent lick of ice cream. "I'm Abra. Are you going to Hogwarts too?"
