If sitting inside just isn't your thing, Floreans offers you an alternative option to wandering the streets of Diagon with your tasty confection. Outside of the shop doors, in a small, well-kept courtyard out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the rest of Diagon Alley, there can be found small, colourful tables with a handful of equally colourful chairs scattered about. While our ice cream is charmed to be slow-melting, our customers, we assume, are not, and thus each table is equipped with an umbrella that can be opened or closed at your discretion. These tables, like the ones inside, can be pushed together or pulled apart to accommodate any size party, but please do take care to think of others who might be sitting around you!
A napkin dispenser can be found at every table, along with a small wooden stand bearing spare plastic spoons and a bunch of small, prepackaged wet-wipes to help clean up those sticky hands.
And please don't try to remove any of the tables or chairs from the courtyard. The seating, while not fixed down, is charmed to be unable to leave the small space. So don't get any ideas! Just sit back, relax, and enjoy your ice cream.

Adi’s mouth quite too full to reply to Lux at that moment but he had one planned already. When he finally swallowed, he finally said, “I dunno… maybe floating about in the sky? Ya know, because my big head would be so filled of air, I’d be lifted off the ground.’’ Ehehehe. Wasn’t he just funny?
He loved Lux’s positivity! Adi knew that Benny would accept but it was SUPER nice that Lux had was so excited. He happily continued to polish off his ice cream. “Awesome! Let’s finish up and go then!’’ Cue one happy Adi! Annnd he was quickly in getting that remaining ice cream down. “All done? Let’s go, Lux! Don’t be a slow poke.’’ Not when there was a proposal to be done!
Levi had plenty of things on his list of what to do for summer and one thing near the top was to have ice cream with Etta. And after making arrangements to meet on that particular sunny day, the fourteen year old flooed to Diagon Alley and headed straight for Florean's.
He wasn't sure if she'd think of it as a date or just a casual get together between friends. Maybe he should have made that more clear. But he was treating it as a date. He might not have been so dressed up, but at least his shirt had a collar and he was going to pay and everything.
Once he got there, he looked around to see if she was there yet. No? Should he get a table and wait, or should he let her choose where to sit? He should probably at least wait for her before ordering... but.. oh! That table there! It was getting crowded and one of the best outside tables was opening. He'd better get it know before anyone else had any big ideas about it.

Between gymnastics and all the family time she had been having during this summer break a girl needed some down time. Which meant she had to slip away from the parents and brothers and treat herself to something cold and full of sugar. Ice cream. Nothing was better on a hot summers afternoon.
Cassie had pulled her long blonde hair up into a ponytail before having gotten in line to order. Today was a chocolate frog and strawberry type of day. There was no skimping on the sprinkles, whipped cream and cherry either. When it came to sweets, Cassie didn't play around and she didn't care what anyone else thought. She worked hard practicing her tush off in gymnastics, swimming, running and everything else to remain fit. This was more then earned today.
Taking the sugary goodness outside to the seating area, Cass searched for an empty table. Finding a small one off to the side she headed straight for it seating her cup of ice cream down and opening the umbrella to toss some shade over her table. Sitting down in one of the chairs she wasted no time in digging into her treat.

Walking over to get some ice cream, Natalia had plenty on her mind.
She had just went on her lunch from work and instead of going for actual food, the ice cream called her name. So ordering chocolate frog with caramel on top she made her way to the outside seating. That way she could eat her ice cream and enjoy the sun while it lasted.
Taking her seat she looked around. She was now graduated, now confronted her mother,
and now was making big girl decisions. The band had just had a serious talk and were in a thinking about their future, so she was now full of what if thoughts. What if they didn't continue, what if the Werewolfsnout manager liked them and did ask them to continue on the tour, what if she ended up going solo or her and Lily went as a duo, because the other members couldn't continue? So many questions, so many choices.

Jace was just.. wandering really. The fifteen year old was rather bored, his brothers had abandoned him at the Quidditch store and his parents were no where to be seen..

Scarlett was in serious need of some retail therapy, because she was having the WORST WEEK EVER. No, worst MONTH really. Despite the copious amounts of color correcting makeup slathered on her face right now, her eyes still were puffy from all the crying she'd done over Jimmy freaking Gladin ever since they'd broken up. Could you even call it breaking up if only one of you considered it a relationship? Ugh. She had to stop. If she started dwelling on that stupid boy AGAIN, she'd start crying right here and that was no good.
Thankfully, her parents had seen how distraught she'd been over the whole thing and had given her some extra spending money, so she decided to grab some ice cream. Chocolate peanut butter today, nice and classic - except there was NO WHERE to sit. Literally NO WHERE.
Really? Just add it to the list of things that were awful right now. Sigh.
Approaching a kid who looked to be about her age, she looked down at the seat opposite him. "Hi. Mind if I sit here?" she asked him. She could just take it and go...

This was already a mistake, because Scarlett shouldn't have picked a BOY to sit with. He was a boy like Jimmy. UGH WHY WAS THIS SO DIFFICULT? Still, she'd talked to him, and now she was sitting down, and if she got up and walked away after that...well, that would be weird. And embarrassing. And what if this kid went to Hogwarts and they ran in to each other in the halls? That'd be EXTRA embarrassing, and at school, she had a REPUTATION to uphold. This could all become a spiraling disaster just like EVERYTHING ELSE in her life right now. BIG SIGH.
"So, um...shopping for school?" she asked, trying to make conversation. She took a bite of her ice cream, smiling a bit as she did so. At least her ice cream tasted just as delicious as she had hoped it would.

Etta was having a really good summer, to say the least. She'd been made prefect... PREFECT. She honestly still couldn't believe it. It was one of the happiest things that had happened in her life and she felt extremely proud of herself. Also, she was getting to see Levi very soon, which was just as exciting.
The girl still wasn't sure what he was .. definitely not a boyfriend but more than a friend? So what did that make him? Because you don't normally spend hours choosing an outfit for just a friend, right? Heh. She would have to give it a little more thought later. She entered the ice-cream parlour where they had agreed to meet, unable to keep the smile off her face as she spotted him sitting at one of the outside tables.
.... wow, he really looked cute. Still smiling, she slowly made her way over to where he sat, her cheeks turning mildly pink. "Hi."

There was no time to waste on silly decisions of orders,
especially not when you'd been having ice-cream with your bestfriend for literal years and had a fair idea of the flavours he would have preferred.
Jessa sat with the large sundae before her, a spoon laid on each side and two cherries perched precariously at the top.
She'd gotten someone to cast a charm to ensure it wouldn't be melting any time soon because just maybe Derf was making that effort to find someone before he got here which would make him later than the half an hour she'd given him.
While she waited, the Third Year fished a crumpled parchment from her pocket filled with all the jottings she'd done after getting back from RJ's place. Derf seemed to have a hard time understanding when she'd first explained the ideas to him, here's to hoping this (and the ice-cream) would bring a bit more clarity.
If not, she had no qualms about clueless test subjects. The rats from the dungeon back at Hogwarts seldom knew what they were being used for anyway.

One of her favorite things in Diagon Alley? The ice cream of course! There was nothign like the ice from Florean's, and so it was exactly where Harriet was headed today. She had done most of her school shopping now, and so she wanted to have a chill day, and spent some time eating ice cream. it was going to be a great day! She had ordered, and got her ice cream, and headed out to the courtyard. She was planning on doing some people watching as she sat eating her ice cream. People watching was one of her favorite past times to do too, when she wasn't painting.
The blonde sat herself down at one of the tables, and pulled her sunglasses on so that they covered her face. She looked totally cute now. And then she began licking at her ice cream. Yum.

A trip to Diagon Alley would not be complete without ice cream. Olly had come to pick up a few things. Books, potions ingredients, new robes, candy, stuff like that. He was sixteen now and perfectly capable of a day of shopping on his own. His dads were going to pick him up later for a family dinner somewhere in London, but for now he had a couple more hours to himself. Of course he decided to get ice cream.
Olly brought his ice cream outside to sit, because it was too nice to be inside of course. He thought he might draw a bit. Though that would have to wait until he had finished his ice cream because those were two things that didn't really work well together. He glanced around the seating area, assuming it would probably be likely to spot a familiar face. This was prime time for Hogwarts students, after all. No one he knew super well, but there was Hattie. Fellow artist and close friends with Noelle. Olly approached her table.

The twelve year old had never been so confused in all of his life and it was apparent on his face as he made his way to Florean Fortescue's in search of a certain blonde Ravenclaw. First his kiss with Aqua the dolphin apparently did not count as a kiss...but they had been mouth to mouth and it had been all wet and salty so it was hard to understand WHY it didn't count. Then Jessa had mentioned something about experimentation and that he better not throw up...and it was just a lot for one little blonde boy to take in.
No. Really. Why didn't his kiss with Aqua count?

Theeeeere he was. Jessa beamed at her bestfriend as he waved over at her, admittedly a little relieved he hadn't gone off to find someone and left her waiting. Like they'd already said, it could wait a little.
They still needed to work out the logistics of it and for a large part, the girl still needed to revisit the structure of the assessments. So yeah, he still had plenty of time...in theory.
She offered him his spoon once he'd taken a seat, ready for any and all questions he may have had--and the look on his face told her he had plenty.
As it turned out, the first question wasn't so hard to answer. The young girl took a spoon of the mixed flavoured sundae, allowing herself an extra moment to think over the answer. It was out of care more than anything else. Derf was a friend. The last thing she wanted was for him to grow as despondent as RJ had. Merlin she'd just feel a million times worse.
"Because for as much as I'm a bad person, I don't wanna be a bad person to you 'cause you're my bestfriend. It would be an objectively bad thing to take your first kiss--don't even mention Aqua--for an experiment if you wanna save it for some time special or something. 'Cause what if you look back one day and think about it and realize you're actually upset you wasted in on fueling my knowledge of concepts??" By the end, her eyes
had widened with genuine concern. She would not let her friend live with regrets.

It would be an objectively bad thing to take your first kiss--don't even mention Aqua--for an experiment if you wanna save it for some time special or something. 'Cause what if you look back one day and think about it and realize you're actually upset you wasted in on fueling my knowledge of concepts??" By the end, her eyes
had widened with genuine concern. She would not let her friend live with regrets.
If the blank stares while on two-way mirror call with Jessa had not spelled out his confusion enough, the look he wore on his face now made such sentiment undeniable because WHAT? Failing to notice the spoon being offered to him, the 12-year-old's jaw dropped when his FIRST best friend went on about how she was a bad person and he was looking at her like she had about two dozen heads.
Hmm...could that, in theory, make Jessa a Cerberus if she DID have more heads? Well...maybe if he was looking at her like she had THREE then it would feel more accurate. Or maybe she was more like a hydra? Because the more she spoke the more heads seemed to be growing out of her shoulders.
He WAS about to mention Aqua, for the record, but she silenced him and his mouth just hung open like a trout's until she was finished.
"But...you're not a bad pers-son...I don't make bes-s-st friends-s with bad people..." he said defiantly despite the trailing off. "Why would you think you were one?"

She was losing him. It was all right there in those eyes that looked at her as if she was a flaming kelpie with five tails. Somewhere in her friend's mind there was a giant roadblock that was effectively ensuring he didn't comprehend more than a quarter of anything she said at a time.
With more insistent movements, Jessa reached over and placed the spoon in Derf's hand. No way she'd be able to finish this sundae on her own.
His protests only garnered a firm shake of her head. "You did. You have one, unless you suddenly decide we aren't bestfriends anymore."
Which in itself was a horrid thought, one she aimed to forget the moment it'd left her lips. To suddenly not be his friend was something beyond her comprehension. "I think I've done something terrible, but it didn't seem terrible at the time." Which, admittedly wasn't much of an explanation when you thought about it.
Blue eyes took in her friend sitting just across from her. She'd promised she wouldn't say anything to anyone but...this was Derf and there weren't very many things she didn't end up telling. "I think I've hurt some people and Lexa wasn't very impressed about it either." Her sister that typically damned nothing. Kinda said a lot. Arisa was plenty proud though.....which....also said a lot.

Derf's eyes only continued to widen as she spoke, soon rivaling those of a mooncalf's. Because HOW could Jessa be a bad person? Summer trip aside - which had been beyond amazing and he had no idea how he was ever going to be able to offer her the same sort of heart beating excitement like globetrotting and kissing dolphins had provided - she was always super nice and encouraging of his curiosity. Sure, she had accidentally poisoned him on occasion...but only because he volunteered to be a test subject for her.
Because he trusted her.
Because she was a good person.
But the more she spoke the more his wild imagination was starting to take hold and get the best of him. Soon he was shoving the spoon in his mouth to hold and grabbing at her left arm and turning it over to LOOK. But there wasn't anything there. So JUST to be sure he grabbed for her other and inspected the forearm there...only to find nothing there as well.
"Do you keep the mark s-somewhere else?" he asked through clenched teeth - because they were holding on to the straw, you see. "Becaus-s-se I don't see a Dark Mark and that's-s the only way you could even come clos-se to being a bad person...or do somefing truly terrible."

Etta was having a really good summer, to say the least. She'd been made prefect... PREFECT. She honestly still couldn't believe it. It was one of the happiest things that had happened in her life and she felt extremely proud of herself. Also, she was getting to see Levi very soon, which was just as exciting.
The girl still wasn't sure what he was .. definitely not a boyfriend but more than a friend? So what did that make him? Because you don't normally spend hours choosing an outfit for just a friend, right? Heh. She would have to give it a little more thought later. She entered the ice-cream parlour where they had agreed to meet, unable to keep the smile off her face as she spotted him sitting at one of the outside tables.
.... wow, he really looked cute. Still smiling, she slowly made her way over to where he sat, her cheeks turning mildly pink. "Hi."
Yes! Levi had gotten to the table just before a couple younger girls tried to sit there. Sorry, girls, this was the best table in the courtyard and he was keeping it for himself and his date with Etta. He gave them an apologetic smile and shrug though, even if he wasn't really sorry. There'd be other tables for them to sit at.
He busied himself by looking at the menu, but glanced up every now and then to see if he spotted Etta coming because he didn't want to miss her or be surprised by her sudden appearance at his table. Or, what if she didn't see him... he needed to let her know where he was sitting. At the best table there, FYI. Or! What if she didn't come at all? He started to worry about her standing him up. He had been sitting there for a little while, hadn't he? Or maybe he had just gotten there early and was now obsessing about the time. She'd show up.
And there she was. Levi gave Etta a wave as she walked in, his smile matching hers. "Etta, hi!" That wasn't too enthusiastic, was it? Still trying to play it cool, at least outwardly. "You look really nice.... So how's your summer been so far?" And could she tell that he had gotten them the best table?

Jessa blinked, watching Derf inspect both arms. A part of her wanted to pull them away, suddenly far more self conscious than she'd been mere moments ago. Another part, however, was insanely curious about what he may have been looking for. Had she gotten something while on vacation that only he remembered--if so, what happened and why didn't she remembered and what was the series of events leading up to it in the first place?
Oh. A dark mark........"Huh...?" She'd never actually come across any readings about dark marks and found herself at a loss as to what he could have been going on about. It was seconds later that the dots began connecting. At this point she withdrew her arms, resting her hands in her lap and away from him. "That's not the only way to be a bad person. You can value results over consequences and end up hurting people by being thoughtless and oblivious." Thoughtless and oblivious on their own were a deadly combination she tried to stay away from. Typically the young girl was capable of processing all outcomes before beginning. This time it just...didn't work that way--which was curious in itself mind you, but that was a study for another day.
"You remember my friend RJ? The one that's in Ravenclaw too?"
The one with a girlfriend; an important note she told herself she'd never forget again.

Aaaaaaaaaand look at that! Jessa had just sprouted three more heads, earning an even more bewildered expression. First she was calling herself a bad person and now she was saying she was thoughtless? But..BUT...Jessa was anything but thoughtless. The day that she was with a blank mind was the day that dementors would start singing Christmas carols. Jessa was kind of oblivious he supposed though, but only because she didn't know EVERYTHING. But that was what he was here for, to help fill in those gaps of information - like he had with fwoopers two summers ago. Well... besides owning the best friend title that is.
Remaining silent at first, because he was still VERY much processing all this, he blinked several times when RJ was brought up. "Um....I fink so..." he nodded. At least he recognized the name even if he did not have a face to go with it. And then a tiny light switched on. Very small. Sort of like his attempts at casting Lumos. "You fink you hurt him?"

Not willing to give Derf another chance to misinterpret, Jessa opted to continue. There were few things she disliked more than a tease with information, therefore she would not be one, least of all to her bestfriend who was equally curious on any given day of the week.

Based on everything she'd ever read, people didn't typically feel wonderful and insist they didn't feel bad about kissing someone who wasn't their girlfriend. His behaviour hadn't been adding up, which had naturally left her with observations and questions she should have kept to herself.

And then Jesse sprouted about ten new heads at once BECAUSE WHY WAS SHE UPSET ABOUT THIS EXACTLY?! Derf could only stare, dumbfounded, as his friend explained further. But really all it did was bring up MORE questions and confusion because it made no sense to him that Jessa be the one hurting over all this. At least not for the reasons she was listing right now. Dementors singing Christmas carols would almost make more sense to him in the moment.
"But...he asked you to kis-s-ss him," he repeated, tone questioning despite the regurgitation of facts just now. "And he S-SHOULD feel guilty! Grown ups-s-s get divorced over things-s-s like that and they are...they are...GROWN UPS!" The spoon had long fallen out of the second year's mouth by this point and was now laying somewhere on the ground near his chair but he couldn't care less about this because Jessa was UPSET over something that she shouldn't be! There were other reasons to be upset though...just she was looking at the wrong ones. "HE DID LET EVERYONE DOWN!" he continued, haphazardly throwing his arms up into the air and flailing them around like he was swatting away Cornish pixies.
And then it suddenly clicked why Jessa was SO concerned with first kisses and Derf just got sad all over again.
"He was-s-s s-s-selfish and s-stole your first kis-s-ss," he muttered, arms coming back to his lap and tugging on his fingers. "His-s-s s-s-sads were what he asked for...at leas-st...that's-s how I s-see it...it would be like...like...if I as-sked you to get me a s-scoop of blood ice cream and then I ate it and didn't like that it tas-sted like blood!"
