First-Floor Corridor

To get to History of Magic, or Muggle Studies, one will have to make use of the first floor corridor. Getting here is usually relatively easy if you're coming from one of the lower levels of the castle as you need only deal with the moving staircases for just a few minutes. Rugs with intricate patterns have been placed on the floor to soften your footsteps so that any learning going on inside the classrooms isn't disturbed.

Make sure you are not dilly dallying on your way to or from class. This corridor in particular is often times filled with students during the school day and a few professors pointing those who have managed to get lost in the right direction. Various doors flank this corridor, so make sure to memorize which of the portraits are outside of the classrooms you should be entering. And don't freak out when the corridor comes to a sudden halt -- the door at the end of the hallway will take you outside to the stone bridge and then to the rest of the first floor over in the next tower. Just keep moving!

Muggle Studies -- Arrival

Hope rounded the corner into the first floor corridor and laughed aloud at the long expanse of open space that lay before her. She began hopping along it, picking up speed as she gained confidence, and before she knew it she was shrieking with laughter. This was marvelous--it was just like flying!!"

Jude made it out onto the first floor corridor without incident {yay!}. Having been among the first to be there, there was loads of space which inspired him to bounce to a fair distance to one end of the corridor and back to where he had started. By the time he reached back, however, more students had arrived. Yep, it was definitely getting crowded here!

The guy was having a great time though! There were a couple of times where he was sure he was going to go down flat on his face because he nearly lost his balance but he quickly planted his feet on the ground, took a breather, and hopped right back onto the stick and carried on with the activity as though nothing had happened. It was only when he felt his energy depleting did Jude begin bouncing his way back.

One (1) bouncing Rasting, incoming!

After getting the hang of things, Yukie realised how fun this was. Something about trying to stay in balance and hopping around was really filling uph er energy bar. Perhaps the adrenaline-ish feel? Whatever it was. She was able to successfully reach the end of the corridor, where she took a break to flex her feet and catch her breath, before getting back on the pogo stick. Finding her balance now was faster than the first time, so she was able to get back up and bounce off.

Back to the classroom now!

Boing, boing, boing!

Here Desiree came hopping down the corridor like a bunny! As she bounced along, a thought occurred to her. She hoped Professor Frazier wasn’t holding a lesson at the same time as Muggle Studies or otherwise busy on this floor. Pogo sticks could be kind of noisy! She briefly imagined the History of Magic professor’s reaction to students pogo-ing in the halls, and the thought made her giggle!

Desiree was so lost in thought that she also lost her balance. She tried to correct, but it was too late. She fell backwards, expecting to land on her bottom with a thud, but no thud came. Instead she bounced back up. Did Professor Feirgrund charm the whole corridor? Cool!

She got back up, balancing on the pogo stick once more, and hopped away. Once she’d reached the end of the corridor, she turned around - not the easiest thing to do on a pogo stick - and headed back to the classroom.

Boing, boing, boing!

Muggle Studies -- Departure

Hope sped down the corridor and all too soon was at the end. Still laughing, she managed to make a wide U-turn across the width and make her way back in the other direction without even getting off. This was the most fun she'd had since the magical creature sleepover. It was so freeing to not think about people's expectations or feeling inadequate or not knowing how anything worked anymore. At the end of the corridor, she rounded the corner and headed back to class.

Bounce, bounce, bounce

Maisey was sure everyone looked like bunnies hopping around up and down the corridor. Honestly this has been her favorite class of the term so far. Or at least the best lesson so far. Obviously this was the only time they would probably ever be able to hop on a pogo stick in the castle at all. She was definitely going to take advantage of the chance.

She must have been too excited to pay attention and hopped right into the wall, she didn’t get a second to bail off the pogo stick she hit the floor and bounced right back up to her feet, which had almost been as fun as being on the pogo stick itself. She got the pogo stick no harm done to either of them. She got back on. Maybe after that she should start back to the classroom.

Back to the classroom

Bounce, bounce, bounce
