Default The Poems of Professor_RJLupin

Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to my poems. I've been writing poems shortly after I started filking, though I've written many more filks than I have poems. Yet filks are still poems, just with music...anyway, I tend to write HP poems or poems about how I feel about whatever.

I think I will start off with a poem about Sirius that I wrote for my English class, and it was called 'Beyond the Veil'. The poem was to go with an assignment about prepositional phrases, therefore, it does not exactly rhyme all the time, however, nearly every line starts with a prepositional phrase.

Beyond the Veil

Upon the print of the newspaper his name is disgraced
Behind cell bars he is separated from a world he can't face
Across the world it's know he's the one to blame
Except in his soul, he knows he's really been framed
After the careful planning, he escapes
Between the bars as a shaggy black dog
Through the long blue river, then
Over the grassy mainlands
Up to the huge stately castle
With the long awaited night to come
In a torn apart shack he tells his story to them and his godson
Over the time they believe him
Past the many years he's gone, he comes back
Out of his mouth he speaks, "You can do better than that"
Into the chest it hits
And other's hearts are smashed to bits
Among this sad paper is my tale
Of the man who's now
Beyond the veil

Here's another poem that I wrote during the summer. It's one of my favorites. It's from Remus' perspective, and it's supposed to be written so that it's like two sided. For example, you can read it and have the poem be about him thinking about his lycanthropy, OR you can read it with the story in the poem being that he's thinking about his friends, and the recent loss of Sirius. That's what happens in the first four stanzas, the last one is tying those two ideas together. I know it's pretty confusing sounding, but when you understand it, I think it's pretty cool. So if you have questions about how a line has a double meaning, just go ahead and ask.
Also, I've heard that my poem reminded someone of some song called 'I Hurt Myself' or something. The inspiration for this poem was from an icon of Remus that my friend made me and it said 'I hurt myself today to see if I still feel', so that might've been a lyric or something, I'm not sure.

I Hurt Myself Today

I hurt myself today
To see if Istill feel
To see if it was all a dream
Or if it must be real

I hurt myself today
As Iwatched the pouring rain
And tried to find out all my thoughts
On all of this sad pain

I hurt myself today
Recalling those dark nights
Wondering if I ever knew
Which side must be right

I hurt myself today
Began to lose control
Responding to my feelings
The madness in my soul

I hurt myself today
And looked in my two minds
And realized that in those two ways
I've hurt so many times
