Hello to all the new readers!!!! Thanks for popping in!!

Okay so I'm halfway finished with the new chapter. I'm having a stuck moment and I don't know why. Anyway, I hope to finish it sometime this week, I'm really hoping tomorrow or Tuesday night. I'm working two jobs and haven't had a day off since the 6th of Aug. so needless to say, I'm pretty tired. But I haven't forgotten about the story or you all. I hope you all will be patient with me.

Thanks!!!!!

UPDATE: It's finished but I hate it. It's really goober-ish. I can get to it tomorrow night and a little Monday. I'm really hoping to get this done very soon. Sorry!!

Chapter 4

The moment Raven had been dreading all week, had come; her first day of Potions with her Uncle Severus. It wasn’t that she hated her uncle; it was the simple fact that she had no respect for him at all. He looked at her as an inconvenience and she looked at him as a temporary setback to her soon-to-be freedom. All she had to do was make it through the next two years under his supervision. Then she was out his care and free to do what she wanted. Making it through his classes and living with him through the summers, without killing him, was her first goal.

When she walked into his class, the last thing she wanted to do was sit at the front. She found a nice little spot tucked away at the back of the class next to Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan. When she saw Harry and Ron, she gave them a little wave.

“If you don’t give him a reason to talk to you, he won’t,” said Seamus.

“Excuse me?” Raven didn’t know who he was referring to.

“Talkin‘ ‘bout Snape, of course. He seems to only pick on the ones that annoy him the most. Most of the time it seems to be Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville.”

“Thanks for the tip. But we’ll see. I mean, I’m his niece and I annoy him just for being alive and here.”

Raven and Seamus laughed a little. Soon Snape barreled into the room and immediately started in on his first day of class rules. As soon as Snape started talking, Raven immediately tuned him out. It was almost a habit. The moment he started talking to her, she would just stop listening. Once there was commotion in the classroom, Raven lurched out of thought and looked around the room a little confused.

“Seamus, what are we doing?” whispered Raven.

“You weren’t listening? We’re making a Shrinking Solution. We have to have it done by the end of the-”

Seamus was interrupted by an ominous black shroud standing before him. Raven and Seamus looked up and saw Snape standing over them.

“What seems to be the problem, Finnigan?” Snape asked.

“Sir, I was telling Raven what we-”

“If she has a question, she needs to address it to me. Unless you think you can teach this class better.”

“I was unclear on the instructions, Professor. He was only trying to clarify what you couldn’t,” Raven interjected. Dean and Seamus leaned back into their chairs. Raven could see steam coming out of Snape’s ears. A smile came to her face. Raven always seemed to feed off of Snape’s anger. To her, this was fun.

“What part of “make a Shrinking Solution” do you not understand?” Snape asked.

“Oh, I understand perfectly when he says it,” she said, pointing to Seamus. “To be honest, the moment you opened your mouth, I lost all concentration. Must be the manner in which the instructions were presented. My deepest apologies, Professor.”

“I will need to see you after class, Miss Snape.” Snape was clearly about to lose his temper. It was obvious if he said much more to her, he would snap.

Once he walked away, Raven looked over at Seamus and apologized.

“I can’t believe he didn’t take points away from Gryffindor because of that,” Seamus said. “If any of us said that to him, we would have detention for a month.”

“I don’t want my actions to hurt Gryffindor. I’ll try harder to keep my mouth shut.”

Seamus and Dean smiled and continued making their potion. Raven finished cutting her roots for the potion when Draco came in. He had been hurt by a hippogriff during Care of Magical Creatures. Of course, he provoked it and it attacked, and Draco made his injury out to be much more than what it was, but Raven knew that this incident was going to come back and haunt someone. Lucius wasn’t going to let this one slide.

Because of his injury, Draco ended up with forced assistance from Ron and Harry. It was clear that the two weren’t very happy about it. Later, Snape took points from Gryffindor because Hermione helped Neville with his potion. Raven now saw how much Snape picked on Gryffindor and it rubbed her, in every bit, the wrong way.

Once class was over and the last student left, Raven remained in her seat. Snape didn’t acknowledge her existence for a few minutes. He roamed around the front of the classroom putting away vials of potion and parchment. Once he was finished he sat at his desk.

“We need to get a few things straight,” he grumbled. “In no way, are you allowed to speak to me like that while in my class. I am your professor while you are in here. Any more snide remarks will cost you and your house dearly.”

“So don‘t talk to me. Don‘t give me a reason to speak to you and I can‘t make any ‘snide‘ remarks.” Raven was still reeling from the things that happened in their first potions class. Now that students were no longer in the room, she wasn’t about to let the rulebook get in the way of what she had to say.

“Are we going to come to an understanding? Or are you going to let your sarcasm get in the way of keeping things civilized?”

“Are you going to let your general disgust for life get in the way of your student’s education?”

“Why must you smart off every time I say anything?” Snape looked as though he wanted to pull his hair out in frustration. Raven, meanwhile, was as cool as she could get.

“You just make it so easy.” She never stopped smiling. She enjoyed the look of agitation on his face.

“What can I do to make these next few years as painless for me as possible?”

“First of all, stop acting like you are the only one being inconvenienced. I don’t want to be here, remember?”

“You are here for your protection!”

“Protection from what?”

“You know what!”

Raven jumped out of her chair and walked swiftly to her uncle’s desk. “Don’t give me the ‘Sirius Black’ excuse! He doesn’t know who I am! There is a reason you are making me come to Hogwarts! There is a reason you want to keep an eye on me.”

Snape looked away from Raven. He looked as though he was trying very hard to keep something quiet.

“I can see it, my dear Uncle Snape. You are forgetting, again. Let your guard down and I can see what you see. What and who do I need protection from?”

Snape looked back at his niece. He still looked as though he was struggling but now it was just trying to find the words. “There are people out there that, if told about you and what you can do, will try to find you. Look at the situation with the Malfoys.”

“Don’t worry about the Malfoys. I can deal with them. Now, who else are you talking about?”

“What do you think will happen if certain people find out about what you can do? It’s not common that people are born with such natural abilities such as yours. Some of what you can do takes years to learn.”

“I don’t think about it. So I can use Legilimency and Occlumency without thinking or do some spells without uttering a single word. I don’t think I’m better. As a matter of fact, I know I’m not better. Every single witch and wizard has things they can do that I can’t. Look at you. You have a natural people repellant. I’m not able to do that.”

Snape glared at her.

“Hey, I didn’t say that they would have abilities that I wanted,” Raven said smiling innocently at her uncle.

“Let’s get back to the subject at hand,” Snape said. “What are we going to do to get through the next couple of years?”

“Disown me?”

Snape once again gave her a disapproving glare.

“You know there is no solution to this, right? I, generally, tick you off and you, generally, tick me off. We could agree to just leave each other alone, but that won’t work since you are my professor. I would say treat me like every other Gryffindor, but then I would get treated horribly and I would react in a non-polite manner. So you tell me, what do you suggest we do?”

Snape rubbed his forehead and then the rest of his face. It was clear he was at a loss as to a solution to this conundrum. “You could start by watching your tone and how you speak to me in class.”

“You could start by treating all your students fairly.”

“You could accept that you’re here and you’re just going to have to deal with it!”

“You first!”

There was another small silence while the two controlled their tempers. “I think the thing that would help you best, Miss Snape, is a little detention.”

“So I can spend more time with you, Uncle?”

Snape rethought his idea. “Maybe you should just leave.”

“It’s about time you sent me away.” Raven immediately grabbed her things and walked toward the door.

“Are we going to do this all year?” Snape asked just as Raven put her hand on the doorknob.

Raven opened the door, then turned to her uncle and smiled broadly. “Yes and I can’t see it any other way!”

Awww! Snapey and Raven are so cute.

No actually, their repartee is hilarious. And the fact that she can actually put him at a loss for words is awesome.

Great job, as usual.

I know, I know. You're shocked that this new entry is up so quick after the last one. Here's a hint: Most of it was already written. Yay! Anyway, I'm to the point now where I don't have a ton of editing to do on the chapters that are already written. So the chapters should be up pretty quick now. More secrets are going to be revealed and in this one and in the next chapter BIG ones will be exposed. I'll hush so you can read....enjoy!

p.s. The chapters are going to gradually start getting longer, too. Thought I'd let you know. I'm going now.
---------------------------------------------------

Chapter 5

Winter had set in at Hogwarts. All but the first and second years took a trip to Hogsmeade village for some much needed rest from school. Many students used this moment to do some Christmas shopping; others just used it as a time to relax. Raven on the other hand, wanted to stay behind. After she realized that Harry could not go, she knew she would have a little company.

After sitting in the common room for a little while, she decided to go outdoors for a while and get some fresh air. She thought at some point she would see Harry, but she had not seen him since before everyone left for the village. Raven hoped she would see him, not wanting to spend the day by herself. After hanging out in the courtyard for a while, she spotted a few second years building a snowman. They got the body built and then left it alone. As they entered the castle, she noticed George and Fred coming out.

“I thought that you had already left for Hogsmeade,” said Raven.

“We got sidetracked,” said Fred. “We got to talking to Harry and lost track of time.”

“Where is Harry?” she asked.

“He wanted to go to Hogsmeade, so we arranged for him to go,” said George.

“I’m not going to ask how you managed that,” she said smiling.

“Well, I’m off to the village,” said Fred. “Sure you don’t want to go George?”

“I’m sure,” said George. “Remember to get the things I asked you to get.”

“I have it. Now, you two have fun today,” Fred said with a huge grin on his face.

Raven walked around the courtyard and gathered a few items for the snowman. It wasn’t much, but she found a few small rocks and some sticks. As she walked over to the snowman to put on it what she had found, George was reminding Fred what to get, again. Fred finally left and George came over to Raven and stared at her while she worked. Raven sensing he was looking at her couldn’t manage to wipe the smile from her face. She finally finished the snowman and looked at it as though it was pathetic. It had rocks for eyes and mouth, and a thick stick for a nose and thinner twigs for arms.

“What else does he need?” asked George.

Raven turned and looked at George; she couldn’t help but think how cute he looked in his snow hat. “Actually I think he’s perfect.”

“Well, he doesn’t have everything,” he said walking toward her, “he could have more.” At this point, it was obvious they were no longer talking about the snowman, but George.

“He could, but who’s to say that one day he won’t have more. But for now, he’s unique and special. And as long as he has a smile, he’s perfect to me,” she said looking back at the snowman then back at George who had a bashful smile on his face. “It’s what he doesn’t have that makes him more special.”

George slightly started to reach for her hand then pulled back out of shyness. “Want to take a walk?”

Raven nodded and the two began to walk the snow covered grounds of Hogwarts. They talked about odd things then laughed about them later. After a while the cold got colder and the two decided to head back to the castle to warm up by the fire. After today, the two felt as though they had known each other for a lifetime.

After a quick stop by the kitchens so George could nick some snacks, the two made it up to the common room where he also made a splendid fire. The two continued to chat and finally the chill in their bones, from being outside, was gone so they could relax and enjoy the conversation.

“The one thing I don’t know about you is your family. What were they like?” he asked taking a sip of hot chocolate.

“As far as my mother, I don’t know a lot about her. She died when I was born,” she said looking towards the fire. “What I do know, though, there isn’t a whole lot to tell. I got my magical abilities from her; at least that is what my father told me. And there is a little more but I would rather not go into that now. It’s too complicated.”

“Abilities?” he asked.

“Yeah, I guess there is a lot that you don‘t know about me.” Raven wrapped herself up in a blanket and got more comfortable. “I was born with the ability to do things that most wizards have to learn and master. Like, the art of Legilimency and Occlumency and there is the whole wandless magic thing. My father told me of things that my grandmother could do but never went into detail.”

George seemed a little dumbstruck. “So why are you here? You don’t need to learn anything.”

“I don’t know it all. And I will never claim to know it all. I guess that’s why I’m here. I don’t know.”

“What was your father like?”

“Wonderful,” a smile lightened her face. “Considering his past, he was the kindest, fairest man ever.”

“His past?”

“Yeah, he was a former Death Eater. He ran from…what do you call him? You-Know-Who? Things were starting to get too rough, especially when Voldemort threatened his family. That’s when my dad said enough and went into hiding. Of course there is a lot more to my story but I’m still not comfortable talking about it. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Oh, yeah, I mean, we can change the subject,” he said looking disappointed in himself for bringing up a tough subject for her.

“Don’t feel so bad, George. Seriously, talking more about this would only ruin the day we are having and I would rather stay in this moment,” she said smiling and nudging into George. “I’ve had a great day, cutie. Thank you.”

“Anytime,” he said. He wanted to say something but paused when he noticed that Raven was looking down towards her hand, George had grabbed her hand. She looked back up to him and gave him a small smile. Raven saw in his expression when he looked down that he didn’t mean to grab her hand. His face turned red, but when he looked back up at her, he never took his eyes off of hers. “So does this mean we’re a…”

In the little bit of pause, Raven could tell that his nervousness at these words was about to overtake him, so she decided to take over for him. “A…couple? Yes, I guess so,” she said all of a sudden just as nervous as he was.

“I’ve never had a…well, you know, a…” his attempt to this sentence was failing.

“I know what you mean. I’ve never had a…boyfriend,” she said almost failing at the sentence herself.

“So, this is a first for us?” he said smiling.

She nodded in agreement. Then there was a comfortable silence. The two shared almost awkward glances at each other; neither of them knowing exactly what to say at this point.

“So…what do we do now?” George said looking anxiously at the fire.

“I don’t know. What do couples do?” she said staring at the fire as well.

Raven and George looked at each other and gave a little bit of an embarrassed laugh. After a short pause, they looked at each other. Raven saw how much he cared for her just by the look in his eyes. The two found themselves getting closer to each other. When they got within inches of each other, the door to the common room burst open and a flood of students came flooding in to the room. Raven and George jumped back quickly and tried to pretend that nothing was about to happen. The kept looking at each other with embarrassed smiles.

“Hey guys!” said Fred jumping in front of them. “Rave, do you mind if I borrow George for a moment?”

“Go ahead,” she said.

George went with Fred and Raven got up to find Ron and Hermione. As she spotted them, Harry came whizzing by her and didn’t say a word. She sensed anger and rage in him but couldn’t see why. “Hey, what’s going on with Harry?” she asked Hermione and Ron as she walked over to them.

Hermione grabbed Raven’s arm and pulled her to a quiet corner of the common room, Ron followed. “He found out Sirius Black was the one that betrayed his parents to You-Know-Who. He also found out that Sirius is his godfather,” Hermione said quietly.

“He’s really angry, I’m worried about him,” Ron said. “You should have seen him when he found out.”

“I can see why he would be angry,” Raven said staring at the doorway to the dormitories. “Maybe I can talk to him.”

“Good luck,” Ron said. “He’s not listening to anyone right now.”

“I won’t do it now, he needs to cool off before any of us try to reason with him,” she said. “Right now, there is nothing we can say to make him feel remotely better.”

“RAVE!” Fred shouted from across the common room, then running over to her when she looked at him. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“What are you going on about, Fred?” asked Ron.

“Leave it to Fred to spread everyone else’s news,” said George walking up behind Raven and putting his hand on her shoulder.

“They finally did it! After months of me pushing George to do it, he finally did it,” said an extremely excited Fred.

“Did what, Fred?” Hermione said looking quite frustrated at Fred’s vagueness.

“My dear twin brother and our mysterious new friend have finally decided to get together,” Fred said, slapping his brother on the shoulder.

“Finally,” said Ron with a sigh.

“Congratulations,” said Hermione giving Raven a hug.

“Thanks,” said Raven a little embarrassed. Never before had she felt so much love from so many at once before. It was an odd feeling that she never wanted to go away.

“Have you…you know…sealed the deal?” asked Fred.

“FRED!” said Hermione, backhanding Fred on the arm. “I really don’t think that is any of our business.”

Raven noticed that Harry had come down the stairs to get ready for dinner during their conversation. “Hey, umm…will you all give me a second?” she asked grabbing George’s arm.

They all said that would be fine and Raven walked over to where Harry was standing. Raven saw rage in him that she had never seen in anyone before. After hearing what he heard, though, she was not surprised.

“Hey, Harry?” she said, not expecting him to say anything. “Ron and Hermione just told me what happened in the village. I know you’re angry. I know what it’s like to have someone betray your family.”

Harry turned to look at her, but still said nothing.

“Look there is something I want to talk to you about,” she said. “Now is not the appropriate time or place. Maybe tomorrow?”

“Sure,” he said quietly, and then turned around to look at the fire. Raven started to turn away to walk back to the others, when Harry turned back around. “Raven? I overheard about you and George. That’s great. I’m happy for you both.”

“Thanks, Harry,” she said with a smile. “Are you coming down for dinner?”

“Yeah…I’m coming,” he said walking with Raven back over to the others.

“We all ready?” asked George, instinctively grabbing Raven’s hand.

After a chorus of “ooh’s” and “awe’s,” they all headed to the Great Hall for dinner. When they arrived, still hand in hand with George, Raven couldn’t help but notice Snape, who not only froze when he saw the two, but looked as though his eyes were about to pop out of his head. She gave him her confident smile and sat down to enjoy dinner with her friends.

It was nearing the end of dinner and the group was talking about what they were going to do over Christmas break. The eager, excited conversation was interrupted by a cold, dark figure standing behind Raven.

“Miss Snape,” said a sinister voice.

“No, Death! I’m not ready to die,” Raven said acting frightened but being sarcastic. She turned around to see that it was not Death, but her uncle. “Oh, sorry. I thought you were someone else.”

Professor Snape wasn’t as amused as the rest of the group. Ron told Raven later that he saw a vein pulsing out of Snape’s head.

“Miss Snape,” he said clearing his throat. “I need to see you in my office.”

“Now?” she asked, trying to hide her smile.

“As soon as you have finished with dinner,” he said.

“Sure, I think I can work that into my schedule,” she said looking at her uncle with a sarcastic expression. She looked back at her friends and rolled her eyes. All of them, including Raven, were fighting the urge to laugh.

“See that you do,” he said. He gave everyone an evil glare, and then walked out of the great hall in a huff, his robes billowing behind him.

Finally everyone gave into their laughter, except for Hermione who could only manage a smile.

“Why do you give him so many problems?” Fred asked Raven as she was getting up from the table.

“Because I can,” she said. “I’ll see you all later. Bye, cutie. Goodbye, everyone.”

As Raven was walking towards Snape’s office, she was stopped by Draco who was standing in her path. She attempted to get out of his way, but every time she stepped aside he would block her again.

“Get out of my way, Draco,” she said trying to get past him.

“Now is that any way to treat me, your future husband?”

I knew the end would get you all. I love suspense and the best thing I could do as an author is pass along the things that I love the most....sarcasm and suspense.

Anyway, I'm hoping to have the next chapter up either tonight or tomorrow. There will be a few things explained and mysteries left unanswered. See you all soon! And thanks a ton for reading and all of your comments. I really appreciate them all! Toodles!

Okay so I'm a day late but it's finished. I'm not too excited over this chapter but I think I'm just in a mood. My proofers seem to think it's fine. Anyway, enjoy!!

-----------------------------------------------

Chapter 6

Raven stretched her neck and rolled her shoulders. Just the sound of Draco’s voice made her cringe.

“Of course not! I would never treat my future husband this way. But you I can treat however I wish,” she said once again trying to leave.

“You can’t get out of this arrangement,” he said grabbing her arm. “I know that you’ve been trying since the death of your father. I can’t tell you my father won’t back out of the contract. You may want to stop trying, you may regret it later.”

“Okay, you’re touching me. I’m not exactly sure you should be doing that,” she snapped pulling away from his grip. “Now Draco, we have already had a lengthy discussion about threats. I shouldn’t have to remind you my feelings on threats from you or your dad.”

“Oh, love, these are not threats. They are promises. Also, you may want to reconsider your relationship with that Weasley twin as well.”

“First of all, do not call me love. That’s uncalled for and quite disgusting,” she said with an ill expression on her face. “Second, threats or promises from you mean nothing to me and you know it. Last, and certainly not least, you have no authority as to what I do with my life. So back off!”

Draco’s face was a bright shade of pink. He had fury in his eyes and looked as though he was going to snap in two.

“Now if you will excuse me, my uncle needed to see me about something,” she said. Instead of trying to walk around him, she knocked into him, bumping him out of her way.

The moment she got a few steps away, Draco once again grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. Raven struggled to break free, but Draco was slightly stronger and he pulled her closer and kissed her. She quickly pushed herself away and once free, pulled out her wand and aimed it at Draco’s head.

“Rave!” said a voice behind her.

Raven didn’t look to see who it was. Her adrenaline was pumping so hard, that her body was shaking. Her breathing was heavy and she knew if Draco made the slightest wrong move she would kill him.

“Raven!” said the same voice.

She still didn’t take her eyes off of Draco. Just then she felt a gentle hand touch on her shoulder.

“Raven,” the voice said. She wasn’t even thinking about who was talking to her or touching her, “I saw what happened. Don’t do it. Don’t get into trouble for him.”

Raven walked up closer to Draco and never let the wand dip an inch. “Touch me again, in any way, shape or form, and it will be the last thing you do. Remember this moment Draco. This is your last warning. Touch me again, and you are dead!” Raven looked at the scared boy, her voice and her body still shaking in rage. She lowered her wand and walked away.

She had only taken a few steps when Draco decided it was best to speak again. “Why take your threat seriously, when you won’t act on it?”

Raven stopped. The only words going through her mind were “kill him.” She turned around and lunged toward Draco. With her wand already out, she was about to cast a spell when a mysterious force pulled her back.

“You don’t think I’ll act?” she yelled. “Come on! Fight me, you stupid coward! Fight me! And when you’re face down on that floor, drawing your last breath, you’ll be eating those words! If you’re so brave, fight me!”

The force holding her back was keeping her from pointing her wand at Draco. She was trying to fight but couldn’t. Raven decided to calm down for a moment and when she did, she felt a release on her arms. She then tried to lunge at him again but now there was someone standing in front of her.

“Raven, come on! He’s not worth it!” said the voice.

“Watch your back, Draco Malfoy! You’re dead!” Raven then finally settled down and walked away. Draco never uttered another word.

As she rounded a corner, she heard the same voice again, only this time she decided to see who it was.

“Raven!”

She saw that it was George, who looked deeply concerned. Behind him were the others, all of whom looked just as worried. Raven’s heart was still pumping out of her chest. She didn’t know if she could come up with anything to say.

“We all saw what happened. Are you okay?” asked George, putting both hands on her shoulders.

“He…touched me,” she could barely get her words out. Her breathing was still quite heavy. “That was my first…I wanted to kill him.”

“Calm down, Rave,” said George. “I’m going to walk her to Snape’s office. You go on ahead,” he said to the others.

The two walked to Snape’s office and not a word was spoken until they got there. By that time, Raven’s breathing returned to normal and her heart seemed to stop beating so fast.

“Are you going to be okay, now?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she said in a much calmer tone, but still clearly upset. “That’s not exactly how I planned my first kiss.”

“We can pretend it didn’t happen. We are talking about Malfoy. It couldn’t have been good,” he said trying to get her to feel better. When she gave a little grin, he seemed a relieved. “There, a smile.”

They gave each other a hug, both knowing the situation could have been much worse if George had not arrived when he did.

“Thanks for helping me. I’ve never been that angry before. I’m sorry you had to see that. I never knew that was in me,” she said starting to doubt herself. “If you had not stopped me, I don’t want to admit what would’ve happened. You have to believe me, that is not me.”

There was a small pause where they both reflected on what just happened. George took the back of his fingers and caressed Raven’s face, and then pulled her in for another hug. “I believe you,” he whispered.

Just then the door to Professor Snape’s office burst open and Snape came barreling through. The noise made Raven and George jump away from each other.

“Thank you, Mr. Weasley,” said Snape in a cold tone, “I’m sure Raven never would have made it here without your escort.”

“Oh shut up!” Raven snapped to Snape as she walked into his office. She turned around to look at George who was standing there nervously, “Bye, George.”

Before George could respond, the doors slammed in front of her. For a moment she dreaded this conversation with Snape. Raven had an issue with his precious student. How was she going to explain to him, that if it weren’t for George, she would be on her way to Azkaban right now, for killing Draco?

“What took you so long?” Snape asked, walking furiously over to his desk. “You were supposed to come here after dinner.”

“I was on my way after dinner,” Raven said to him, snapping back. She rolled her eyes while he wasn’t looking and walked over and sat in an empty chair in front of his desk. “I had a run in with your favorite student.”

“Who? What happened?” he asked, now looking interested in what she had to say.

“Don’t act like you don’t know who I’m talking about,” she said. Raven then went into detail about the incident in the hallway with Draco. She also included what would have happened if George had not stepped in to stop her. The whole time, Snape sat expressionless at his desk. Then Raven stood and approached his desk. “If you cannot control that little flea, I will break him.”

“I am not going to defend Malfoy’s actions,” clearly hiding his anger at the situation, “but killing Malfoy, or even hurting him, will just increase your problems. I will deal with Mr. Malfoy and I will have a word with his father.”

“You know, it’s your fault I’m in this marriage contract. You should be doing everything to get me out!”

“My fault? How do you suppose that?”

“I don’t suppose! You are the one that told Lucius where we were hiding! Then he shows up on our doorstep, butters up my father and poof! I have to get married to his ungrateful, spoiled, pathetic son!”

“If I had known-”

“Don’t give me that! You know that Lucius can’t be trusted getting an old lady across the street! What made you think that you could tell him where my runaway, Death Eater father was hiding?”

“The Dark Lord was gone. I didn’t see a threat anymore.”

“You’re kidding, right?” Raven went back to the chair. “If you don’t see Lucius as a threat to anything, you’re mental.”

“Since I found out about the contract in your father’s final letter, I’ve been doing what I could to get you out of the arrangement. Lucius Malfoy has anticipated that you will be trying to break the contract and is doing all that he can to keep it in tact through the Ministry.”

“So, tell them, as my legal guardian, that I want out and my father wanted out,” she said.

“It’s not that easy. But about Mr. Weasley-”

“Look,” she interrupted, “if you’re going to tell me to stay away-”

“Have you told him everything?” he asked abruptly.

There was a long pause as Raven dreaded to hear this question. She had secrets that she was keeping from her new friends. It was already huge that they knew she was related to Snape, but that was completely unavoidable. But her other secrets could possibly have more devastating effects.

“No,” she said quietly. “It’s not time yet.”

“I know you haven’t told them about the contract, but what about your family?” he asked. “Especially, your mother’s side.”

“George knows about father,” she said looking away from him. “I didn’t go into much detail about my mom.. It’s not time to go into my mother and her side of the family, not with Sirius Black running around.”

“Perhaps it’s best to keep that one under wraps.”

Raven only nodded.

“As far as Draco goes, don’t do anything you’ll regret. The last thing you want is a confrontation with his father.”

Raven laughed. “If a confrontation with Lucius Malfoy and myself is something you want to avoid, you better duck and cover now because it’s coming!”

Hey all!!! Thanks again for reading this. I'm glad you're liking it.

I would address all of your love but I'm really slow at the multi-quote thing and I have no patience today. Anyway, here is chapter...6? Oh, no chapter 7. Please, enjoy!!

OH! And there is a bit of a shocker in this one. But surprisingly, it's not a going to be a major plot in Raven's life. I wanted to give you that head's up.
---------------------------------------------

Chapter 7

Raven left before Snape could say another word. Walking back to the Gryffindor common room, she had a lot of time to think about all of the events that happened that day. Between Draco kissing her and her nearly killing him, then facing the fact that she was about to drop a bombshell on Harry, she was trying to find something to cheer her up. It didn’t take long for her thoughts to drift to George. Thoughts of the snowman and their wonderful day together, flooded her mind and a much needed smile overwhelmed her once sad and angry face. Her mind escaped to a wonderful daydream, a dream that she never wanted to wake from.

Raven was unable to find Harry either alone or not tied up in anything. The longer she sat with this news for him, the more the knots twisted in her stomach. Finally, at breakfast one morning, Raven asked Harry if they could meet later in the day to have a talk. Harry agreed that he would find her in the Great Hall after lunch.

When Raven arrived at the Great Hall, she found a spot clear from anyone else and looked at all of the Christmas décor. It took her back to all of the Christmas’s she spent with her father. None as elaborate as this, but she did have some wonderful memories. This was going to be her first Christmas without him, and all of a sudden she felt lonely.

“Raven?”

She was startled out of memory lane by none other than Draco. If she wasn’t already upset with him enough, he broke her chain of thought, which upset her more. “Go away, Draco. I am not in the mood today,” she said turning back around to look at the Christmas tree.

“I told father about our little incident the other day, he was extremely upset,” he said sitting in front of her, blocking her view of the tree.

“That’s good to hear Draco, now really. Go away!” she said again turning around to face the back of the hall.

“He’s furious, but only with me,” he said getting up and sitting back down in front of her. “He is angry with me for approaching you the way I did. He doesn’t want us to fight, and frankly, I don’t either. I am willing to do what I can to make this arrangement work.”

“Well, it’s good to know that you will do what you can for lost causes,” she said. “However since you are so willing to do what you can, why don’t you start by leaving me alone? Better yet, go find your girlfriend. I can‘t see Pansy as the sharing type.”

“We can’t avoid each other forever. And don‘t worry about Pansy.”

“We can‘t avoid each other forever. But won’t the time that we spend not talking to each other be absolutely wonderful? I have an idea…let’s start now,” she said with a broad smile, thinking to herself how wonderful it would be to never speak to Draco Malfoy again. “And I’m not worried about Pansy. I could take care of her with a sneeze.”

“Oh, dear Raven, how on earth are we going to stop avoiding each other?” he asked. “We go to the same school and have some of the same classes. It’s impossible.”

“I can make it possible for us to never speak again, want me to give it a shot?” she asked once again smiling.

“How would you do that?” he asked looking confused.

“Try me,” she said turning her smile into a glare.

Draco seemed upset about her threat and decided it would be in his best interest to leave. As he left, Harry walked to him and the two shared glares at each other. “Is Draco bothering you again?” he asked sitting down next to Raven.

“Yes, but at least he didn’t touch me, or it would be a different situation right now,” she said smiling.

Draco made his unthreatening, “you’re-gonna-die” face and finally left the Great Hall.

“You wanted to talk?” he asked. Raven could clearly tell that he was still in an unpleasant mood about the information he found out while in Hogsmeade, she wondered if she could set him straight about some things.

“Yes, I do. But let’s not talk here. Let’s take a walk, shall we?” she asked. Harry nodded and the two set off outside the castle and walked down to the lake.

The air was crisp but not completely uncomfortable. They never spoke a word since leaving the Great Hall. Raven was hesitant as to exactly how she was going to start this conversation. For her this was going to be a huge secret to come out and hoped Harry wouldn’t get upset. She almost dreaded saying what she was about to say out loud. The closer they got to the lake, her stomach began to do flips and she felt her throat began to feel tight and scratchy.

“It’s a little cold out here once you get to the lake,” said Harry putting on his gloves.

“Yeah, it is,” she said putting on her gloves as well. “I’ll try to make this go as quick as I can. As you know, Ron and Hermione told me what happened in Hogsmeade.”

“Did they tell you everything?” he asked. “Do they want you to tell me that it is going to be alright? Because they way I see it, it’s not!” he snapped.

“Harry, I didn’t ask to speak to you for you to treat me like I’m clueless as to how you feel, because I’m not as clueless as what you might think,” Raven snapped back. Her words were just enough to stop Harry from saying anything else. “I know what it’s like to be betrayed by someone you trust and I know more about Sirius Black than you or anyone in this school."

“Do you know what he did to my parents?” he asked angrily. “Were you there?

“Oh yeah, Harry,” she said in her sarcastic tone, “I was there and saw everything. I was only two years old and living halfway around the world. Everything was real tiny but considering the distance everything was pretty clear. What kind of question is that, really?”

Harry didn’t seem too happy about Raven’s sarcasm. This wasn’t going quite like she had hoped. “Well, how would you know anything about Sirius Black?” he asked in a combative tone.

Raven took a deep breath and tried to calm down. She was starting to feel her blood boil and needed to relax if this conversation was to go anywhere. “Harry, first, please calm down,” she said in a quiet, composed tone. “We can’t have a conversation like this and you know it. We aren’t going to get anywhere if we keep this up.”

There was a slight pause long enough for the two to collect themselves, and catch their breath.

“Harry, before I say anything, you have to promise not to tell a soul what I am about to tell you,” beginning to get nervous again. “Trust me that what I am about to say will come out eventually, but it cannot come out now. Do I have your word?”

There was another pause and Harry, now much calmer, agreed not to tell anyone, not even his best friends Ron and Hermione.

“Also,” Raven continued, “what I am about to tell you will come as a shock. I need you to not overreact to the point that you violate your previously made promise.”

Harry nodded once again, only this time with an apprehensive look on his face. Raven gave Harry a deep stare to see if he was genuine or not. After seeing that he would not tell or overreact, she looked back toward the lake, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.

“Sirius Black,” she said quietly, looking back at Harry, “is my uncle.”

Harry stared at her a moment with his mouth wide open. He tried to speak but didn’t know exactly what to say. “How…? What…? Did I hear you right?”

“Well, he’s more of a half-uncle. My mother was his half-sister,” she began to tell the story of her family with dread. She was worried that Harry would change his feelings about her, but she felt that she owed him this information. “She was one of the many unknown Blacks. You will never see her on the Black Family Tree. Mrs. Black made very sure of that. Sirius and my mother actually grew up thinking they were cousins.”

Harry stood in disbelief. “How’d that happen?” asked Harry strangely curious how all of this plays out.

“Sirius’ father was married briefly before he married Sirius’ mother. During that first marriage, his wife gave birth to a child but died shortly after the delivery. This child was my mother, Persephone,” Raven began her story unsure if Harry needed to hear it at all. But she knew that one day she was going to have to tell this story about her life, she might as well start now.

“After the death of his wife, he realized how hard it was going to be to raise a child alone. Soon he married Sirius’ mom, I don’t know her name at all. Anyway, Mrs. Black resented my mother from the beginning. When my mother was three, she was showing no sign of magical ability. Thinking of the embarrassment on the Black name to have a non-wizarding child in the house, Mrs. Black asked her in-laws to take my mother in and raise her as their own.”

“Did she ever get her powers?” asked Harry.

“Eventually,” she answered. “She was a late bloomer. But even after it was discovered that she was a witch; Mrs. Black didn’t want her back. She would have to further explain herself and possibly cause more embarrassment.”

Raven could tell that Harry was processing this information fairly well. She could sense that this was not bringing up further animosity for him.

“For most of their childhood,” she continued, “Sirius and my mother knew each other as cousins, and told her that she was adopted into the family. All of the Black family members, including those she thought was her biological family, gave her a sob story about a poor widowed mother who wanted her child to have a better life.”

“So I’m guessing at one point she found out the truth,” said Harry.

“Andromeda told her,” she said. “Where Sirius was the better of the two siblings in his family, Andromeda was the better of the three in hers.”

“Sirius? Better?” Harry asked. Raven could see his anger building again.

“Hang on Harry. I’m getting to that,” she added trying to calm him down again. “Once the news was out, my mother cut off all ties with the Black family; which was fine considering there is no link to her or my grandmother on the tree at all. Since she was still underage, though, a friend of hers at school had nice enough parents to take her in and they reached an agreement with the Blacks to be her guardian until she became of age.”

“Okay so how does this relate to Sirius being better or good?” he asked quite frustrated at this point.

“My mother started a journal her first day at Hogwarts,” she said. “In this journal, she talked about Sirius and Andromeda, and how good they always were to her. As she got older and saw Sirius at Hogwarts, she was so happy for him that he found such good, faithful friends, your dad being one of them. She described James as the brother Sirius should have had. Although Sirius had a brother, he wasn’t close to him like he was to James. Sirius loved your father, and when he was around your father he was a much different person, fun and full of life. Harry, I’m saying all of this because after reading my mother’s journal a million times, I do not believe for a split second that he betrayed your parents to Voldemort, nor do I believe he’s a murderer. He hated the evil that his family stood by. He would never cower to their level by doing something so heinous.”

“You don’t even know him; you don’t even know your mom! So how can you form an opinion from someone who is dead?” asked Harry. “You don’t know what happened!”

“The way I see it, Harry, you don’t know either. You only know what you heard!” she said shouting back at him.

“So why are you even telling me this?” he asked jumping up, still shouting.

“I just thought you would like to hear someone else’s opinion. My mother may be dead, but I have her words and thoughts to guide me. She wrote in her journal to not always trust what is directly in front of you because there is usually something on the other side waiting to make you look foolish. She says you have to know your roads and your choices or you could get lost. Sirius may have betrayed your parents; he may have killed those people. But it doesn’t hurt to look at the flipside of the coin. There is a chance he didn’t do it,” Raven was completely frustrated at this point. She was hoping to stay calm and to keep Harry calm, but Harry bringing up the death of her mother in such a way, bothered her.

Raven stopped and took a long look at the lake. She shook her head slightly, “Think what you want Harry. I just pegged you to be more rational that this.”

Raven didn’t say another word and didn’t want to hear anything that Harry had to say. Before Harry could respond, she turned, walked away and headed back up toward the castle. She knew that this would be a lot to soak in for Harry and decided to give him time to make what ever decision he wanted to make on the Black issue. There was so much to her story that she failed to get out. However, she realized that what she said would be hard for anyone to digest.

Telling Harry the truth was a slight relief. She felt, though, that it would be better to wait a while to tell everyone else. There is, still, so much left to be told and wondered if getting that out would be as much of a problem for them as it was for Harry. As Raven walked into the common room, she thought to herself how nice it would be if she could fix things with Harry, keep Draco off her back, and enjoy every moment with George, life would be great.

AHhhhhhhhhhhmazing. I love the angst you have displayed harry with its very accurate. And i love that you reavealed a HUGE chunk of info about Raven that is very important. Her being related to sirious should make harry feel closer to her in a way, but he is to angry to realize that she is trying to connect with him in a way that no one else can.

Great chapter!

i cant wait for the next!

PAMS!
