It had been four months since we broke the news to my family. And Teddy and I were beyond strong. We were even talking about the prospect of marriage. But today wasn’t about marriage. Today was about the baby. My baby shower. Have I ever mentioned that I hate parties? Especially ones where I’m the center of it. I’d much rather go to a pub with the guys. Not that I’d be able to drink, but still. This was not my ideal day.

Victoire and, begrudgingly, Dominique planned my baby shower with Rose, Caroline, and my Mum. The only thing I was looking forward to was the fact that James and Fred promised me that it would not be boring for long. That was something to look forward to, at least. It kept me smiling through all of the Muggle games dealing with how big I was. I did not appreciate that game.

Especially when Uncle George made the ribbon twice as big as I actually was. Not funny. At all.

I made Teddy stay with me, along with the rest of the guys, rather than let them go to the backyard and have a beer. If I had to suffer, so did they. It was only fair.

We all gathered around for presents, about halfway through the party. After presents came dinner. Which is why I wanted to rip through the presents in a jiffy. I was hungry. And Grandmum cooked. And. She made her treacle tart. Teddy didn’t know it yet, but he was giving me his piece of treacle tart. Whether he wanted to or not.

I opened a lot of presents that day, ranging from blankets and clothes to cribs, diapers, and bassinets. But one present stood out amongst the others. And it actually caused those fated hormones to kick in and me to cry. Even Teddy was speechless.

“Whose is this one?” I asked chirpily. Dominique raised her hand timidly and I smiled slightly at her. We weren’t the best of friends, but we were better. Victoire made us get together once a week and talk through things. It was annoying, but effective.

I bit my lip as Teddy helped me untie the bow. He was very strict with letting me near something that could hurt me. Evidently the bow could give me a paper cut, which led to blood loss. He was way overprotective. I’m sure our daughter will want to strangle him ten minutes after birth.

After pushing his hands away from the box, after he unwrapped the entire thing, I might add, I lifted the lid and pulled out a turquoise scrapbook. On the front of the cover, it was titled: Mrs. Theodore Lupin & Mr. Abigail Weasley. I grinned as my fingers drifted over the script and I heard Teddy laugh from beside me.

The next sound that came out of my mouth was a gasp, as was Teddy’s. I’m not sure how, but Dominique had a picture of the day I proposed to Teddy. The picture started with James and me soaring up into the air, and then Teddy coming to my rescue. And finally me proposing to Teddy and he laughing as he called me Mrs. Theodore Lupin. It was my favorite present. The rest of the scrapbook had pictures of the two of us together, now mainly and the few of us when we were younger and happened to have been photographed together. But my favorite picture was the one from two weeks ago, where I was lying on the couch and Teddy was in between my legs with one hand on my belly and the other holding Babbity Rabbity and Her Cackling Stump as he read to Nymphadora. Victoire and Dominique had come over that night to discuss last minute details of the shower with us.

That’s the picture that made me cry. Waking up that day, I never thought I’d do what I was about to do. But I did.

I handed the scrapbook to Teddy while I hauled myself off the couch and hugged Dominique tightly. She beamed at me when I pulled away and whispered my thank you. She kissed both of my cheeks before I returned to my seat. It’s safe to say that Dominique and I are doing much, much better these days.

The next month went by quickly for Teddy and me. He was busy with work and I was busy with shopping for Nymphadora. Not really. I was bored out of my mind and really wanted to play Quidditch. But I wasn’t allowed. Ordered by my boyfriend, father, and Healer. So, instead I watched chick flicks on TV. Having a Muggleborn mother and aunt was a blessing. I haven’t a clue as to what I’d do if I didn’t have this TV right now. There wasn’t much drama in my life, per se, except of course when it happened. Though that’s not really drama, just craziness.

Teddy had to work, so James and Fred came over and we watched some action movies and played a few board games. The boys still refused to talk to Alfie, as did I. So, the pack was down to just the three of us. And on guy’s night, we refused to let Teddy join us. He understood though, so it was okay.

“And, I win again!” James exclaimed with a punch in the air for effect. I pouted as we flipped the Rummikub tiles back over. And then I let out a little shriek as my hand flew to my stomach. The boys just stared at me in horror and concern.

I groaned and started breathing heavily. This was not happening. It was too soon. I still had a couple of weeks left, for Merlin’s sake.

“Are you going to sit there and stare at me all day or are you going to take me to the hospital and go get Teddy?” I growled at them. They both got up in a flurry as they yelled at each other for coats and overnight bags. I heard the front door slam and I growled in frustration before Fred reappeared with an apologetic smile on his face.

“Forgot something, have you?” I asked sarcastically and he laughed loudly as he helped me stand. Flooing and Apparating are very dangerous when you’re pregnant, so the Healer gave us a legal Portkey at our last visit. All we had to do was activate it and we’d land in the waiting room at the hospital.

The next hour was a blur that included a lot of pain and screaming and squeezing fingers painfully. Teddy arrived around an hour and a half after Fred and I had gotten there. Evidently he had been on a mission, and Uncle Harry had to go find him and then find a replacement for him. Needless to say, Fred and I were happy to see him.

“You idiot! Where have you been?” I wailed as Teddy appeared beside me. I barely noticed the sympathetic expression that Fred sent to Teddy when he left his post by my bed.

“I know! I’m sorry. I was on a mission,” Teddy explained as he sat beside me and smoothed back my hair. He kissed me softly on the forehead and I sighed before clenching my teeth in pain. Contractions were not pleasant. At all. We were not friends.

I remember the exact moment Nymphadora was placed into my and Teddy’s arms. She was tiny, with a tiny button nose, though I could have sworn it kept going from larger to smaller each minute. It wasn’t until her Weasley red hair morphed into a bright green that I realized I wasn’t hallucinating and her nose really was getting bigger and smaller in turns.

I remember when I was seven and I proposed to Teddy that I wondered what color hair our children would have—Weasley red or his Metamorphmagus abilities. Now, we have the answer. And she was absolutely precious.

I leaned my head back against Teddy’s shoulder tiredly as Teddy’s pointer finger got swallowed up by our daughter’s little fist.

“Abi?” Teddy whispered and I hummed my reply. “Will you marry me?”

“Nope,” I said with a yawn.

“Why not? We’ve been talking about it,” he replied and I could almost see the lines between his eyebrows scrunch up.

“I’m too tired,” I mumbled and before I could fall into dreamland, I heard Teddy’s chuckles fill the room as he kissed my forehead.

“I’ll ask you again when you’re more alive,” he murmured as he pulled Nymphadora from my arms and tucked me into bed.

Teddy never did ask me to marry him again.

Okay, so I'm in a posting mood and I felt slightly bad for leaving it off where I did. But only slightly.


Teddy never did ask me to marry him again. Because I beat him to the punch.

It was the first day that Nymphadora was allowed to come home from the hospital, and there was a huge ‘Welcome to the World’ party at Grandmum and Grandpa’s house.

Teddy and I arrived in the kitchen with very loud greetings of ‘Welcome Home’ and other such nonsense. It wasn’t like we left the country.

Tiny wails erupted after everyone had quieted down a bit and I glared at everybody in the room. Nymphadora had been asleep. And she is grumpy if she’s woken up before she wants to be. Teddy said she must have gotten it from me because he was evidently a very good baby. I told him that Uncle Harry lied to him, because I was an angel. My mum agrees with Teddy.

I saw my Dad trying to stop his guffaws from being heard and smiled wickedly as I took the fussy little girl from Teddy and started shushing her.

“Since you find it unbearably funny, you can calm her down,” I told my Dad with a smirk. He narrowed his eyes at me, but took the challenge with a little coo to his granddaughter. I smiled at the scene, and all at once hoards of Weasleys and Potters were surrounding my Dad and daughter. I took Teddy by the hand and gave a little nod to James and Fred. They grinned mischievously as Teddy and I disappeared into the backyard, my cousins following after me.

“You guys aren’t jumping me, are you?” Teddy asked suspiciously.

“Nope, but I do challenge your girlfriend to a little race, I guess you could say,” James smirked.

“The person that gets the highest in fifteen seconds, wins,” Fred said and I had to bite my lip to stop the large grin that threatened to spread across my face.

“Teddy, why don’t you join in on the little game, too? Unless you’re scared of course,” James said with a wicked grin.

“Of you? In your dreams, little boy,” Teddy laughed. Ten minutes later, Fred was placing charms on our brooms to freeze them in midair after our time was up, and then when Teddy wasn’t looking, he put up a force field in case anyone fell. This is where I should wink at you. You’ll understand in a minute.

I bit my lip to stop the nerves raging through my body. He wouldn’t say no, would he?

“And Go!” Fred shouted and we all took flight. When I decided I was high enough, I started making my broom jerk and wobble. It was going in zigzags across the sky and doing little short stops. I noticed Teddy glancing back at me, and decided it was time to test my acting skills. I screamed. And somehow lost my broom.

Teddy was shouting at me, and before I knew it, I was in his arms.

“What the hell was that?” he yelled at me.

“I-I don’t know,” I lied. Teddy narrowed his eyes at me as he helped me sit on the broom, facing him.

“You’re a professional Quidditch star, Abi, what happened?” he prompted. When I said nothing, he sighed. “You scared me,” he whispered.

“Don’t worry, Theodore, the next time I fancy a fly, I’ll let you know, and you can take me up. It’ll be good practice for when we’re married,” I whispered and his eyes grew large at the realization that this was all one fantastic set up. He looked down and noticed that James was back on the ground with Fred and the rest of our family.

“Abi.”

“Just say yes,” I whispered as I leaned my forehead against his.

“I thought the guy was supposed to ask the girl?” he laughed.

“When have I ever gone by the rules, Mr. Abigail Weasley?” I grinned.

“Never,” he chuckled. “Yes, Mrs. Theodore Lupin,” he said not a moment later and I crashed my lips to his while giving James and Fred the signal at the same time.

Before Teddy knew what hit him, confetti was raining down on us, explosions sounded all around us, and our family was cheering loudly. I hope Nymphadora wasn’t asleep again.

29th of february is a leap year and the woman can ask the man in this day. Its probably a british thing. I liked this alot and it was clever to reinact it all. Love teddy and i agree with lauren, you pick good dresses!

“Dora! Honestly!” I complained as I stopped her little hands from attacking the cake that had been sitting innocently on the kitchen counter in the Burrow. It was Nymphadora’s first birthday, and she had somehow climbed on top of the counter and touched the cake that I told her not to touch until she finished dinner. I have a feeling Uncle George is behind this. Or Fred. Or James.

“Mumma, no!” Nymphadora shouted at me with a pout and a shake of her head.

“Mumma, yes,” I countered as I washed her hands and mouth with the swish of my wand.

I placed her on my hip as I cleaned up her mess, just as Grandmum and Mum walked into the room. They took one look at the mess of a cake and started laughing uncontrollably. I didn’t find it funny at all.

“The others are outside racing, or something. Why don’t you take her and we’ll fix this,” my Mum said in between chuckles. I gave her a sour smile as I stalked out of the kitchen.

“How does the cake look?” James smirked.

“Destroyed,” I answered with an upturned eyebrow.

“It is her birthday. She should be allowed to destroy it if she wants to,” James shrugged as he started tickling my daughter. Nymphadora giggled as she grabbed at my hair, hers turning bright pink in the process.

I decided to not respond to my cousin. It wouldn’t be worth it in the end.

“Mumma! Bwoom!” Nymphadora cried as she pointed to the broom her father was currently riding. Teddy looked up at the sound of her voice and broke out into a dazzling grin as he zoomed over to us.

“Dada, bwoom!” she repeated while holding her hands out.

“Want to ride with me?” he asked her in a gentle voice and her face lit up at the prospect. She nodded vigorously as she struggled in my arms, clapping repeatedly.

“Alright, alright, calm down,” I muttered as I tried to get a stronger hold on her as I passed her over to my husband. Teddy settled her against his chest and with a wink to me, he took off. At a slow pace. And very close to the ground.

“Have you told him yet?” Fred asked as he slung an arm around my shoulder and watched his goddaughter laughing as she flew.

“Nope. I tried to last night, but then Nymphadora started crying, and I was too exhausted after that tantrum,” I explained with a small sigh.

“Tell who what?” Uncle George asked loudly and I groaned. Everybody was looking our way, including the person we were talking about. It was hard to keep a secret in this family. Especially when one family member, *coughUncleGeorgecough*, invents Extendable Ears.

“What are you lot talking about?” Dad asked as he came over closer.

“I don’t know. These three were just talking about telling somebody something,” Uncle George answered with a wide grin. I wanted to hit him. But I didn’t. Because Nymphadora was watching me.

“Abigail?” Victoire asked with a perfectly sculpted eyebrow raised.

I turned to glare first at Uncle George and then at Fred for getting me in this predicament.

And with that, I marched right up to Teddy and whispered something in his ear. His eyes lit up as he smiled goofily.

“Really?” he asked in awe. I nodded as I bit my lip before he kissed me quickly.

“Baby! Baby!” Nymphadora yelled and Teddy and I looked at her before laughing. She was at the stage of repeating everything we say. Well, at least the ones she can pronounce, and then shortening the ones she can’t. We try not to let her stay near Uncle Ron for long amounts of time, so she doesn’t pick up any swear words.

“Is everybody here?” I asked loudly, just as Mum and Grandmum came out the back door to see what was going on.

“We’re pregnant!” Teddy announced and everybody surrounded us in a flurry.

After Nymphadora, well Teddy and I, opened presents and she actually ate her cake, it was time for the real fun to begin.

For Christmas this past year, Uncle Harry and Aunt Hermione got Grandpa Go Karts. So, we decided we’d race them. There were two of them, and two people could fit in each one. So, first up were James and Fred versus Teddy and me, plus Nymphadora, who sat on my lap, buckled in.

After Dad yelled, “Go!” we were all off, and Teddy managed to get us very far into the lead.

“We’re getting smoked, mate!” Fred yelled over to James, who was driving.

“Like salmon, bro!” James responded with a scowl.

“Teddy! I think she should be allowed to ride a broom.”

“No way! She’s too young!”

“You sound like my father.”

“He’s a very smart man, then.”

“Suck up! Do you honestly want what happened to me to happen to her?”

“It didn’t turn out so bad for you in the end, did it?”

“No, but unfortunately, we are short of Teddy Lupins.”

Teddy laughed as he finished giving a bath to four year old Remus Tonks Lupin. “She’s six, love; at least wait until she’s seven or eight,” he said with finality.

“Spoiled sport,” I muttered as I walked back into our bedroom. His joyful laugh sounded after me and my scowl deepened.

“Did you hear about James’s new bird? He says she’s the one,” Teddy yelled from the bathroom as he dried Remus off.

“Yeah, but don’t take him too seriously. He said that about the last four,” I yelled back as I changed into one of Teddy’s T-shirts and a pair of his boxers.

“Very true,” Teddy chuckled as he emerged from the bathroom with our son in his onesie pajamas. They had Spiderman all over them. Remus was obsessed with the Muggle comic. “I think he wants us to meet her though. He said for us to pick a date that works with our schedule.”

Evidently we should have taken James seriously on this bird. Because one year later, he proposed to Miss Desiree McLaggen. I was one of his groomsmen, Fred his best man, and Albus the other groomsman. Fred and I both knew that he had wished things would have been fixed with Alfie after all this time, but they hadn’t, and Alfie wasn’t invited to his wedding. He and Desiree had a daughter two years after that. Evan Destiny Potter. Evan, after James’s late Grandmother. Fred and I were Godparents.

James and I would joke around saying that Evan and Remus would make their own pack, and that Fred needed to hurry up and procreate, so his offspring could join in. Fred wasn’t all that happy about our joke. But we still thought it was hilarious.

Dominique started dating Alfie’s younger brother, Kody, who was a year younger than her. Kody was always a nice kid, and I had a talk with him once. I told him that if he even thought of pulling an Alfie and cheating on Dom with any of our cousins, or anybody else for that matter, then I’d hex him seven ways to Monday. Needless to say, Kody is a tad bit scared of me. But only a tad.

We had a surprise for the kids that year; they were getting a younger sibling. During this pregnancy, I happened to get very swollen, especially my fingers and ankles. James and Fred took every opportunity to tease me about it, but Teddy knew better. If he didn’t want to sleep on the couch, the only things regarding my appearance that come out of his mouth better be, “You’re beautiful,” or something of the sort. He promised that I really am beautiful when I’m huge and swollen, but I can’t help but feel like I’m pregnant with a cow or something.

I was so swollen that I couldn’t even wear my wedding rings. So Teddy had to put them on a chain so I could wear them around my neck.

To be honest, I had felt naked without my rings. When I told Teddy that, he laughed. “I have no objections to you really being naked,” he murmured as he kissed my neck and pulled back to waggle his eyebrows.

“Don’t sound lecherous,” I scolded as I wrinkled my nose.

I remember when we had talked about if we’d have more kids, and if it’d be a girl, we’d name her after Teddy’s grandmother; she passed away when he was seventeen from natural causes. So, in a couple months time, I’d be giving birth to Andromeda Christelle Lupin. The kids were ecstatic. Especially Remus. He didn’t want to be the youngest anymore.

For Teddy’s and my anniversary that year, Teddy decided to surprise me. I hated surprises. I always wanted to know what was going on. I hated not being in the loop. And he knew that. But he didn’t care in the slightest. Said it kept me on my toes.

He side-along Apparated me there and I was confused when the first smell that reached my nostrils was burning wood. No matter how long it’s been since I’ve visited Romania, I would never forget the smell. Or the beauty. Or the hominess of the dragon reserve. Mum always told me I was definitely my Dad’s child whenever it came up in conversation. And my Dad would smile proudly at me, and that was when I struck and asked for some shopping money. He always gave me extra those nights.

“Teddy,” I breathed in awe as I stared around at the reserve.

And then I noticed the SOLD sign on the cottage that had become my favorite home. It was that same one that Dad lived in when he had worked here the first time. It was the one that had been our vacation home for so long.

How on Earth was this supposed to be my big surprise? That is depressing. I never wanted my parents to sell that cottage; too many memories. I basically grew up in that cottage. And I wanted my children to have that same experience.

I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at my husband.

“I thought you’d be happy,” Teddy said with a frown, though the corners of his mouth were twitching as if he knew something I didn’t.

“That my favorite place has been sold?” I asked sourly, my lip curling.

“No,” he grinned and my brows furrowed. “That I bought it from your parents. It’s ours now,” he told me and my arms fell to my side as I gaped at him. He smirked before I threw myself at him.

“Thank you,” I whispered.

“Happy Anniversary.”

He always did give the best presents. But anyway, we’re not quite to that part yet. First was the bedtime story.

Remus smiled sleepily at me as he reached up with his Spiderman-covered arms. That was his move for when he wanted Mummy to put him to bed and Daddy to read him his book tonight. I pulled him into my arms and we made our way to his bedroom, where Nymphadora was already curled up on his bed, also waiting for the nighttime story.

I tucked Remus into bed and sat beside him as I smoothed back his hair. Teddy pulled Nymphadora up against his chest, and I smiled as he kissed her forehead before asking what they wanted to hear tonight. Somehow, I already knew which one they’d pick. And they did. And Teddy and I shared a secret smile.

“I want to hear about the boy that saved that girl on a broom and how they fell in love again,” Nymphadora said dreamily, Remus agreeing instantly, as she stared up at Teddy. He kissed the tip of her nose while agreeing.

“Once upon a time,” Teddy started. “There was a little girl at the age of seven—”

“And she had red hair like mine, right, Daddy?” Remus whispered sleepily. Teddy nodded with an affectionate smile.

“Right you are, little man.” Remus grinned in triumph. “And there was a boy that—”

“Could change his appearance like me, right, Daddy?” Nymphadora interrupted.

Our children often did this on our story times.

Teddy and I found it amusing.

“Yes, sweetheart,” Teddy replied as he kissed the crown of her head. “And the little girl was dared into a contest with her cousin, to go the highest on a broom.”

“Can I have a broom, Daddy?” Nymphadora asked and Remus perked up at the idea.

“Not a chance, sweetheart,” Teddy answered and I stifled a chuckle. “And the little boy saw that the little girl was going to fall, so he raced up and caught her in his arms…”
