& so the seer begins her tale:

Chapter One: Seeing Eyes

Order eventually leads to chaos, and chaos eventually leads to order. The Universe, in a nut shell, is chaotic order, or orderly chaos, whichever perspective you wish to take.

However, hard you fight these two absolutes, you will always be defeated. There have been wars fought, laws made, so many secret societies built to bring down some thing or another…. And yet, when one power falls another rises, or else they fall together in the chaos.

Thus the Order of the Phoenix, the secret sect that stands against the terror Lord Voldemort has wrought upon the wizarding world, lives within the walls of Grimmauld Place, to keep order within the chaos, as well as to keep fear at bay.

The Order stands for all that is not Voldemort and his Death Eaters. They are two opposite forces, each working for nearly the same thing, but with different ways of obtaining that thing; that thing is power.

Power is a funny thing, for it is a corrupter.

Throughout existence, the Universe has maintained that power. Recently, new powers have been forming, throwing things completely off balance. This unbalanced universe is due to Voldemort.

Thus Sibyll Trelawney is thrown into the mass of chaos, right to the very heart of it all, right at Harry Potter himself. She is the one thing that the Universe had to bestow upon those who fought for order and thus she, once again, will find her purpose is more than that of a dramatic professor; she can make or break the war.

Simply put, Sibyll Trelawney did not like people; she did not like people at all. Sure there were an odd few who tickled her fancy, made her day a bit brighter, but in the end, she preferred solitude. At least, when alone she could divine as she pleased. Most thought her to be an old fraud, but that was only because they were blind.

No, Sibyll knew her purpose was far greater than that; she just put on act, a show, because you could not always trust even the most trusting.

Despite her overly large glasses, Sibyll was far from blind. If anything, her glasses were just a reminder of how much she could see. Sibyll did indeed have a gift when it came to divining; she merely kept it well hidden.

On the night of the 31st of October, Sibyll was enjoying her Samhain in a silent and very deep divine trance. It was always a plus to commune with the spirits on all Hallows eve and she would not pass it up.

The Universe had plans for Sibyll, however, and it made known its plans quite clearly when pushing her from the spirit world into a vision of what was to come if she did not act.

By the time Sibyll awoke, she knew what she had to do. If she were to truly deliver another prophecy, she would have to join the Order.

Oh, the gods must hate her! Throwing her into such unsuitable circumstances like this! Really all she wanted to do was sit in her room, in the peace and quite and truly see.

However, Sibyll would not ignore a message of such importance. The next day, she had gone to the Headmistress, McGonagall and informed her that she would like to join the Order of the Phoenix.

There was apparent shock on the older woman’s face, but it abated quickly and was replaced with mild disapproval.

“How did you—“

“I have seen it,” Sibyll answered in her most mysterious voice. Honestly, she loved to ham things up, it was the only way to keep her secret and it was quite fun!

McGonagall glowered. “I’m sure you have, Sibyll, however, I can not just accept you into—how can we trust you?”

“I will do whatever it takes,” she replied, easily. It was imperative she join. “Just tell me what to do.”

Professor McGonagall was not an easy person to charm; Sibyll had known that for years, and yet she still managed surprise at just how many tasks the headmistress gave her. First, she had tell the entire story of how she had come to this decision; she then had to go through all her recent outings and who with; but really, the best part was the Veritaserum.

Sibyll was divine, but that did not mean she was above petty, little white lies, or even, big ones. Thus she was not immune, unless of course, she were to be forced to speak of something sworn to the Universe as a secret.

However, Sibyll spilled the beans, because that was how it was supposed to be and she was instated in the Order of the Phoenix. The portrait of Albus Dumbledore, McGonagall’s predecessor, smiled down on Sibyll as she left. He always did know more than he let on.

It was a long time that Sibyll was a member, before an urgent meeting was called. She’d been fretful, but no prophecy came. What she knew was that, Harry had to hear it. However, Harry had not been seen for a very long time; Harry Potter had disappeared on some secret mission, one that he had started with Dumbledore and set out to complete after coming of age.

The night of the meeting Sibyll had barely arrived, when she noticed that something in the atmosphere had shifted her senses. She raised a hand to hover in the air before her, feeling the change more. She was snapped to attention by the door being slammed open.

“Yer late,” growled Hagrid. “Hurry up, we’re ready ter start.”

Sibyll did as she was told. When she arrived, she was nearly knocked off her feet by the sudden of waves of energy; waves that were shifting and swiftly moving about. She looked around her bespectacled eyes fell on Ginny Weasley. Her eyes rolled into her head and her other sight awoke within her.

She lost all awareness as she fell into the black oblivion that was where she went whenever a prophetic poem rose to her lips. She was at peace and completely connected to everything; she spoke from some distant realm, and though her words seemed so absurd, she knew they were true. She watched as the truth swam before her; magic was funny like in how looked to her from this place. Magic was beautiful and strange; magic was colourful and bright; magic was so pure and so simple, that it was easy to see the dark magic within Ginny Weasley, even with her eyes turn to her brain.

She also did not need eyes to see just how sick, Ginny Weasley was getting. Dark magic did that to a person; it infected them; tore them apart till they were a shell of what they once were, much like Voldemort. However, if you rejected it, it made you physically sick, to the point of death.

Sibyll was outside of herself, yet within. She watched in a trance as her body moved rigidly toward the red-headed girl, though she began speaking before even getting close to her.

"The end of the Dark Lord is found in the Love of the Chosen One-- something of Gryffindor’s is closer to the heart. The death of the Love shall bring victory to the light. The search will end on the eve of the solstice as the Sight, bestowed upon the Seer, awakens. The signs all point to the Love.... The end of the Dark Lord is found in the Love of the Chosen One...."

It was funny how hard it was to speak from here. She seemed to be fighting something within her, some power, always wanting to rise up and take complete control. She loved laying there in the cool, all-knowing darkness, but she also loved the world without, the living, awake, full of life and colour, world that existed.

Sibyll awoke within moments after the prophecy was spoken. Her body was positioned oddly, she noted and though the room was silent, she could not help but think the sound would make her deaf.

What had she said again?

She had hardly moved, except for her head and she now followed the path her finger was on. She had somehow sat down, though in an awkward position as the chair was rather small, and facing Ginny, rather than Sibyll; perhaps she’s climbed? Whatever the case, she was in a chair with her finger pointing directly at Ginny Weasley.

Ginny looked deathly ill, Sibyll could see so clearly, and she could feel the cause of it. This was the answer they had been looking for; Harry would need to know and speaking of Harry…

Sibyll looked up into the green eyes of Harry Potter. He was a different person since last she had seen him. There was a hard set to his features made him more intimidating, and his eyes were alight with a fire Sibyll had never seen before. He seemed ready for the war, but truly, he still had one more task before he could fight the Dark Lord.

“H—“ Sibyll’s voice hurt. Why? It didn’t usually. “Har—ry Potter,” she croaked.

“Wh—what did that mean?” Ronald Weasley was standing beside Harry, looking shocked.

Harry was watching Sibyll with the most calculating of expressions. His eyes followed her finger’s path, much as her own had done. When they fell on Ginny, something clearly broke within him, yet his face remained that same mask she’d never known he had.

“You don’t mean—“

“I only speak of what needs to be seen. The blind eyes of those around us, need opening. That is my part, Harry Potter, and it will always be my part, as it has always been my part.”

“No.” Harry’s voice was dangerously low and frighteningly hard. He seemed to think he had the power to change this.

“Yes,” Sibyll answered. “I am sorry.”

Harry was on the verge of speaking when Ginny’s tiny voice stopped him.

“H—Harry, what is it?”

It did not take the Inner Eye to see that Ginny was frightened, nor did it take the Sight to see that Harry Potter wanted nothing more than to cry.

The second segment of this story:

Quote:
Chapter Two: I See Death

Sibyll watched as Harry stared pointlessly at the table, Ginny watching him with sick and worried eyes.

“Ginny you’re… I think… she said that…” Harry stuttered his voice breaking and trailing away into a pool of despair. But Harry’s rigid face quickly turned into one of anger, of stubbornness and one of a man who was sick of life going against him. Sibyll peered up at Minerva, who was glaring wide-eyed at Ginny Weasley; she obviously had realized something.

Before anything else could happen, Harry Potter swiveled round and ran from the room, leaving a wave of confusion behind him. No one attempted to stop him, but Sibyll still didn’t know what she’d actually said in her latest prophecy.

“Minerva my dear, what have you interpreted from my prediction? What fates have been revealed from my divine words?” Sibyll asked, penetrating Minerva’s anxious eyes.

“Sibyll, I wish I could summarize what you have said but- oh my!” Minerva ran forward as Ginny slipped from her chair and fell clumsily on the cold, hard floor. Her eyes rolled in their sockets uncontrollably, as her mouth hung open slightly, trying to breathe.

Sibyll bent down and knew immediately that the prophecy had concerned this girl and that this was no ordinary illness.

“Minerva, I fear my prediction has fixed the fate of this young girl, am I correct?” she asked and Minerva closed her eyes painfully.

“The end of the Dark Lord is found in the Love of the Chosen One. The death of the Love shall bring victory to the light. That is what you said Sibyll.”

Albus Dumbledore had told Sibyll of Voldemort’s Horcruxes, it was obvious Ginny Weasley was one of them. Ginny opened her eyes and looked pitifully at Sibyll.

“My dear girl, I assume Potter has told you of the Horcruxes?” Sibyll asked. Ginny nodded slowly.

“My dear, it pains me to inform you that,” she began, but paused for dramatic effect and out of grief, “you are one of them. If the Dark lord is to be defeated you must… you must die.” Sibyll hung her head as Ginny fell back hopelessly, biting her lip.

Soon after, she fainted and was carried upstairs by a procession of family and Order members, like a funeral march. Now was the time for Sibyll to visit Harry Potter, her senses told her so.

Sibyll quickly found what she believed to be Harry Potter’s room; she entered without knocking. Harry was slumped against the wall on his bed, looking pitifully depressed.

“You are troubled my dear, I sense my prediction has disrupted your peace of mind…” she said dreamily.

“When did I ever have piece of mind,” Harry spat, throwing a random sock across the room in anger. “Wait a minute--I thought you couldn’t remember your predictions?”

“Minerva was kind enough to inform me of my prediction’s details, it seems little Ginny Weasley will play an important part in the Dark Lord’s downfall…” replied Sybil, staring dramatically at the ceiling.

“Yeah, that’s great, now why are you here? I’d rather be left to sulk alone in the dark if you don’t mind.”

Sibyll was shocked by his rudeness, so she decided to impose her authority upon the boy.

“I most certainly will not leave, you must come downstairs at once. I’m sure the Order would like to speak with you.” Sibyll stood up and left as Harry reluctantly stood up.

Sibyll walked triumphantly into the kitchen with Harry at her heels. Minerva approached Harry and said, “Potter are you…alright? I think you and Miss Weasley need to have a small chat with Sibyll.”

Harry said nothing; he simple scowled at the floor.

“Maybe not now…” said Minerva, steering Harry to a chair and almost force-feeding him dinner. Sibyll sat down opposite Harry and stared at him intently. He was such a strange boy to her, he’d never possessed the inner eye but he still seemed a wise young man, trapped in a circle of infinite bad luck.

Suddenly, a man in a ruffled suit charged in and demanded that everyone sat around the table.

“Can I have everyone’s attention please! There have been several consecutive muggle attacks in a shopping centre near here, there are about 100 memories in need of modification and the Daily Prophet reporters have beaten the Ministry and us to the scene. We have to get there now!” he said, turning to Minerva. The entire Order left for this occasion except for Sibyll, who was left in the kitchen with Harry.

Harry stood up to leave the room and Sibyll was left alone.

“Well I’ll just have to entertain myself won’t I!” said Sibyll before picking up Crookshanks and placing him on the table.

“Now what is your feline future my dear?” she said, grabbing Crooshanks’ paw and examining it intently.

Over the next two weeks, Sibyll’s feline-fortune-telling was often interrupted by random Order members announcing deaths and attacks. On one particularly depressing Tuesday it was announced that Hestia Jones had been kidnapped by Death Eaters and more than likely killed. Muggle killings and disappearances quickly became regular morning news. Ginny Weasley was constantly fainting and weakened more every day. However, Sibyll’s main task was to talk to Harry and Ginny about their apparent fate.

Ginny made her first appearance since the prophecy about two weeks later; she looked very tired and was as pale as the full-moon.

“You! Red-haired girl! I need to talk to you and Potter!” said Sibyll loudly. Ginny looked up and slouched silently over to the table, sitting as far as possible from Harry. They sat in silence for a minute before Sibyll decided to speak.

“As you know, I have made a prediction that claims you, young lady, must die if you, Potter, are to defeat the Dark Lord.” Harry and Ginny still said nothing. “I have made the prophecy, I cannot change it. You must accept it.”

Ginny said nothing, but Harry suddenly spoke. “I know I have to accept it, but I don’t want to…”

“Oh grow up boy! It is time for you to accept your fate and deal with it! It is your responsibility to defeat the Dark Lord, no matter what stands in your way! I have said all I need to say, feel free to discuss the matter with… Miss Weasley, is it my dear? Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to save that bushy-haired girl’s cat from certain death!”

Sibyll left slightly shocked at her own nerve, she’d never got angry with a student before. Nevertheless, Harry and Ginny needed to accept and deal with their fate.
Sibyll informed Minerva that she had “talked” to Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley.

“Minerva, though I hate to say it, I see death in the near future…”

“Really Sibyll,” said Minerva, unsurprised. “If you’ll excuse me I must speak to Potter; it’s urgent.”

Curious, Sibyll followed Minerva into the kitchen where a rather somber looking Harry Potter was sitting at the table.

“Good evening Potter,” said Minerva, sitting opposite him.

“Hi,” he replied, distantly.

“Potter the time has come for you to-“

“Accept my fate, yes, I get it!” Harry snapped, before receiving a very angry look. “Sorry… continue…” he said, sinking lower onto the table.

“As I was saying,” said Minerva slowly and sternly, “the time has come for you to continue your task. This task, of course, is slowly but surely defeating You-Know-Who.” Harry nodded, but said nothing. “We have decided, to let you join the Order.”

Harry suddenly leaped out of his seat. “Seriously?” he asked.

“Yes Potter. Now, then, various Order members will be training you to fight better and more tactically. Your first training session should be soon. On another matter, Sibyll Trelawney’s prediction is very important; you must accept it and continue your search for the Horcruxes. I believe you began the search after your coming of age. Miss Weasley’s fate is sad I know, but I doubt it can be helped… I’m sorry Potter…”

Minerva left the room and a mere few seconds later, Sibyll watched Harry Potter put his head in his hands and cry silently on the table. She couldn’t do anything, except watch him weep and suffer alone. She knew he had to cope with his fate on his own…

“It would seem Potter,” said Sibyll, making her dramatic appearance, “that my other prophecy you know of is coming true, as well as my latest… How I wish I could comfort you, but there are dark times ahead, my dear boy, dark times indeed…”

Chapter 3: Stick to Tea Leaves and Crystal Balls

For the next few days, Harry barely spoke to anybody, even to Ron. He only seemed to mutter to himself in his horrible nightmares. He never smiled, always showing faces of frowning and grumpy-ness. But, he did not give up training for the fight with Lord Voldemort. The Order members Moody, Tonks, Lupin, McGonagall, and many more, including advice from Dumbledore, taught Harry all the advance magic they could think of. Harry stayed focused on these; he quickly learned all the spells and curses, one by one, without making a single mistake. Because of all of these bad happenings, everybody’s moody turned darler; grief and stress plagued them night and day. Lupin looked shabbier than ever, Tonks grew thinner, Moody barely walked, McGonagall got frustrated even when somebody called her name. Sibyll really wanted to help. She even felt guilty that she’d told Harry and Ginny their fate and the prophecy; guilty for joining the Order; guilty for having to become a Seer; guilty for everything. But she quickly reminded herself that this was for everybody’s own good.

One day, everybody: the Order, Harry, Ginny, Sibyll, and others were eating breakfast at the table. Harry suddenly got up; leaving his un-touched delicious breakfast, then ran upstairs. He yelled loudly as he did so. Everybody was so surprised that breakfast was over in a second.

There was a loud BANG! From Harry’s room. Sibyll’s misty eyes grew wide as she slowly got up from her chair. The others looked at her as if she were insane. Apparently, they knew what she was going to do.

“You go one more step; you’ll never know what will happen next!” Sibyll turned to see who said that, and saw that it was Ron Weasley.

She replied back, “If everything around you were black and white, if the person you love is going to get killed, if everyone’s suffering because of you, and you get frustrated by that, wouldn’t at least the person who told you would like to have a word with you?

The red-haired boy dropped his mouth at the unexpected answer. No words came out.
Sibyll looked down at Crookshanks, who was at her feet. “Come along my dear, we are going to go have a word.”

“Sibyll...” McGonagall began, but Sibyll had already left.

Sibyll sighed as she raised her fist to knock on the door. Crookshanks purred next to her, as if saying “Are you sure you want to do this?” Her mind was set. She knocked. No answer came. She knocked again. Once more, no answer came. Sibyll knocked again and again until she heard him yelling, “For Heaven’s sake, whoever it is, just leave me alone!”

Sibyll simply opened the door and quietly sat on a chair in the stuffy room. “My dear, I have come to have a word with you.”

Harry looked up, and then muttered, “What do you want with me?”

Sibyll answered, “I need nothing from you, my dear boy. I have just come to have a little talk.”

“Well, then make it short.”

“Let me begin. The fate…of you and Miss Weasley. Please do remember my prophecy, dear boy, please do. Do not forget them. It’s very important, you see. No need to explain it. I also want to ask you...Have you heard any news from the Order of the Phoenix?”

“The Order? No, I haven’t, why?” Harry asked irritated.

“Well, I, Sibyll Patricia Trelawney, am the newest mem-“

“You’re telling me that you are part of the Order of the Phoenix? You?” he asked, pointing directly at Sibyll and standing up.

“Yes, and I thought-“

“Thought what? If you could bring us more danger? Who agreed to have you here? I know I haven’t. Why did you join anyway?”

“If you will just-“

“No! I will not listen! Why’d you make the prophecy? It’s not like somebody told you to do it. Because of you, Ginny is getting weaker by the second! Just get out from the Order! The house! Get out of my life!” he screamed. “Clean your bloody glasses and just leave me alone!”

Sibyll, not looking at all offended, slowly got up and left the room. There were shouts and yells and bangs.

Sibyll sat down on a brown, woody, weak chair after walking downstairs. Everybody was staring at her. Ronald Weasley’s eyes were flashing with anger. “I told you so! I tried to stop you from going there! You bloody well know what’s been-“

“Ron…” Remus Lupin said firmly. “Sibyll is now an official member of our Order, you are to treat her like one. After all, being a Seer is a very huge responsibility.”

Sibyll cleared her throat. “I’d like to make an announcement,” she began, standing up. “As the newest member of the Order of the Phoenix, I would like to ask if I, Sibyll Patricia Trelawney am allowed to fight with the rest of you for the fight.” She looked around slowly, facing each and every pale, shocked, wide-eyed person; everyone except for Lupin.

“Very well, Sibyll. I think we have to do some thinking. Thank you for being honest with yourself. We will have the answer back to you by tomorrow morning.”

“Tomorrow morning?” the red-haired boy exclaimed. “But-“

“Thank you, wonderful dears. I guess then I would have to wait until tomorrow morning.” She turned to leave, but stopped just before saying, “Everybody has a special talent of their own. Including me.”

While I don't believe Ginny is a horcrux, it makes for some good drama nonetheless! Great job! I love how the overall tone of the story has that flighty air to it, mimicking Trelawney herself. I can't wait to read more!

Chapter 4: Ring Freedom's Bell

The next day grew dark and dreary as Sybil awoke shaking from a dream she could not remember. She got up and dressed quickly before going downstairs to find the whole Order waiting for her, their faces downcast with concern.

"What is it?" she asked shakily, her eyes large in her glasses.

"The Dementors have started kissing anyone they see. The Ministry is helpless to stop them." Lupin replied as he held Tonks, who was crying silently into his robes. Tonks looked up at Sybil, whose face had gone white and added,

"It's all gone crazy, we can't stop Dementors, only fight them off. There's too many of them, and the Ministry isn't doing anything! They're hopeless, like normal." She wiped her nose on her sleeve and sniffled slightly, getting herself under control as Lupin rubbed her back.

"Wh…when did this all happen? Everything was quiet last night!" Sybil asked aghast as she sank into a chair, cringing as she heard a loud bang from upstairs.

Minerva didn't say anything, but shook her head slightly, apparently in shock as she finished reading the Daily Prophet. Placing it on the table, she gave everyone a glare to silence them, and then turned to Sybil a grief-stricken look in her eyes.

"Sybil…it started early this morning, after everyone went to bed. We only just found out about it through the Prophet, we were too late to do anything…again." She closed her eyes for a moment to gather her thoughts then continued "And there's nothing we can do again thousands of Dementors, we're only a small bunch of Wizards, the Ministry is too busy trying to come to terms with their own losses."

"But surely we must do something now!" Sybil declared, beads jangling on her collar as she glanced at each person in the room. Another loud bang sounded from upstairs and hurried footsteps rang from the stairs as Ginny came hurtling down them, her face deathly pale and sweaty.

"He's gone! Harry just took off out the window on his Firebolt!" she cried out before collapsing into the chair beside the fireplace.

"Where did he go?" Lupin asked, as he moved up to stand beside her to check her features. His face blanched slightly as he took a look at her haunted expression, her bleak white face covered in sweat. He could tell she didn't have much time.

"I…I don't know! I was telling him to finish it now, that I've come to the realization that there's no hope in saving me and that I'll…I'll be known as a hero for helping to rid the world of that…thing, but he shook his head, shouted and threw some things, then jumped out the window on his Firebolt!" Ginny explained, breaking down into fits of hysterical crying.

Tonks covered her face to stop the flow of tears and went up to Ginny, engulfing her in a hug, hoping to try and comfort her, but how could you comfort someone who had to die? Ginny sobbed into her robes, clinging for dear life as Lupin got up slowly, giving her a rub on the back as he looked at Tonks.

"I think I know where he may have gone." Lupin said quietly before turning to leave. The front door closed silently, not waking up Mrs. Black as the others swirled to look at Sybil with a this-is-all-your-fault look.

Sybil took a staggering breath, comforting herself as she looked upon the poor girl and said with determination,

"About last night have you come to an agreement? Can I fight with you?" she looked piercingly at Minerva, who had a handkerchief in her hand. Minerva sighed, as if this wasn't the right time or place to ask and nodded,

"Yes, you may fight." She replied, not looking at Sybil.

Right before Ginny looked up and was about to protest Mundungus Fletcher came bursting into the room, his robe flapping behind him, his eyes wide. "Come quick! There's been an attack on Azkaban! He-who-must-not-be-named has attacked everyone, we can still go and fight!"

That was enough for Sybil. With a flourish she jumped up, no longer jumpy nor frightened and headed for the door, determination set on her features. "Well, are you coming or not! I'm not going to sit around mopping, not when he's out there attacking everyone in the open!"

"Sybil wait! We can't go rushing into things!" Minerva called as she ran and blocked Sybil from the door.

Lupin stood up and turned to face her, his face even more haunted than ever. "She's right Sybil, we need a plan first."

"A plan" What kind of plan?" Sybil asked as she placed her hand on the door, shaking uncontrollably.

"We need to find a way to distract him first." A voice said from the kitchen. Everyone turned to look at Ginny, who had stood up beside Tonks.

"Ginny, you are not going with us!" Minerva stated as her eyebrows rose into her hairline.

"I am so! If I'm going to die, I want to fight as much as I can!" she exploded, tears dripping down her face.

"Ginny Weasley, you will do no such thing young lady!" Arthur said loudly from the hallway.

"Why not father, because I'm supposed to be a 'good girl' and sit around while everyone around me gets hurt? No, this has to end..." she trailed off beginning to sob quietly.

"No Ginny, because your mother would be very disappointed if she found out yu went off and died without seeing you one last time." Arthur said softly, walking up to his distraught daughter. He engulfed her in a hug and said, "And I know Harry would never forgive himself either."

"He's the one that has to…has to…you know!" she sobbed.

"I know honey, I know. But please, you must stay. Besides it'll be much too dangerous for you to go, and you're no in the Order."

Everyone was silent as the thought surrounded them, like a shroud of mist which crept over the city as the Dementors began mating. They all knew what was in store, but they could never bring themselves to do what was needed to be done. Suddenly the door opened once more and Harry, who looked like he had swallowed a ghost, walked in silently and sat down. He looked into everyone's eyes as he sat up straight, his face determined.

"We can worry about that later, right now innocent people are being tortured and we need to help them." He said, his eyes roaming the faces of everyone, except Ginny. He couldn't look at her right now, it was too painful.

Everyone gaped at him, than nodded. He was right; while they sat here bickering to each other people were getting hurt, families were being torn apart. Minerva took her handkerchief and dabbed at her eyes, Tonks and Lupin nodded to each other, Ginny cried into her fathers arms, but Sybil smiled at Harry, her large eyes bright with knowledge,

"You're a bright boy Potter. I give you that much." She said, and then turned to look at the others.

Everyone was silent for a moment as they all thought of what to do. Finally Sybil made a hem hem noise which sounded a lot like Dolores Umbridge, making people jump nervously. Minerva glared at her but shook her head and straightened up.

"Alright, we should go and help out instead of sitting here mopping about. This is not what Albus wanted; he would be out there fighting instead of sitting here." She said, placing her plaid shawl around her neck. "I for one am going and I suggest you all get your head into the game." She looked at Harry and gave him a smile, which was a very rare occurrence for her.

The other all snapped to attention upon hearing Dumbledore's name and moved towards the door, Harry in the lead. Ginny stayed behind hands on her hips shaking her red hair wildly, looking as if she were about to say something, but before she could the door had closed behind Tonks and she was left alone.

The battle was fought long and hard, with both sides gaining. Voldemort had not been there, for he had had other plans, yet all the Death Eaters who were broken out of Azkaban were, and full of fury, sending hex after hex after the Order, causing mayhem and total destruction to Azkaban. There was nothing left of the building except struts and a mystical cloud of magical smoke.

The Order walked back from the battle sore and full of pride. They had managed to beat the Death Eaters, yet with a terrible price, loosing a building where all the dangerous criminals were kept. The Minister was furious with them, and no matter how hard Minerva explained that the Death Eaters were the ones who promptly destroyed it he didn't believe her. So, Minerva called a meeting with the Order, and they all found themselves locked in the Kitchen with secrecy detectors around the walls, windows and door to keep intruders from listening.

"Well, it would appear we can no longer trust the Ministry it's painfully obvious there's a spy among them." Minerva began sitting down at the head of the table.

"Yes, and from what I've heard they're so disorganized right now it's not funny." Arthur added, wiping his brow. He turned to Kingsley Shakelbot who nodded gravely.

"The Minister himself has not given any orders. I'm afraid it's come down to them not knowing how to act, so they're all sitting around waiting for the end." Kingsley said as he looked around to everyone.

"Look, there's only one thing to do, we must further our efforts in order to actually gain speed on this war. We need to show Voldemort he can't boss everyone around." Arthur said with a hint of anger and worry in his voice.

Sybil stayed quite as she listened, she had nothing new to add to this discussion, she could add no more to her prophecy, all she could do was sit and wait for action to be taken. She looked over at Harry and saw his face grow sullen, she knew he was only thinking of one thing, and she couldn't blame him for not talking. Ginny was getting worse each passing day, and she knew the time would come soon where Harry would have to make his choice, destroy the Horcrux and save the world, or watch as Voldemort won.

Chapter 5!!!

Quote:
Chapter Five: Sleep No More

There was no hope left.

That was the one thought that seemed to plague Harry Potter, Sibyll noted as she watched from afar, as the Order making valiant efforts to put a stop to Lord Voldemort.

But with each passing day, Harry was rebuilding broken and crumbling walls. He’d had a row with Ginny Weasley not long after the Azkaban break-out and she’d shut herself in her room, refusing to speak to anyone till they all came to terms with her fate.

Harry seemed the least willing. He had become quiet and moody. He hardly spoke, but Sibyll always noted the determined set to his jaw in Order meetings and there was a niggling feeling at the back of her mind that Harry Potter was coming up with a plan.

Indeed, a mere two and a half weeks after the Azkaban breakout, while the Order were seated around the table eating breakfast, the Sunday Prophet arrived and one glance at the front page caused a shocked Lupin to spit out his drink.

In turn the paper was passed around and all it took was one glance at the headline before drinks were spit out in shock, food was choked on in outrage, or yelps of fear given in response.

Sibyll was last to receive the paper, which she took warily from Moody. The rest of the occupants looked grim indeed.

Potter Challenges Dark Lord

‘The Chosen One’ calls Him out

Sibyll nearly fell off her chair. She didn’t have to read on to know exactly what this article was about, nor did she need the Inner Eye to know that the challenge would be met.

Looking back at the article, reading through the first page quickly:

Late last night, Harry Potter, better known as ‘The Chosen One’, called a conference with Daily Prophet officials on an urgent matter. His vague words left all wondering, though none would have ever guessed that Harry Potter would do such a daring thing as challenge He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

“The Ministry is no closer to stopping him than they were the first time he was in power,” Potter said to the group at large. “I’m taking matters into my own hands.”

Though Potter refused to explain his reasoning, it is widely believed that he is indeed the only one who can end You-Know-Who. Not two years ago, while the Ministry was still denying the existence of You-Know-Who’s return, Potter and a group of five other Hogwarts students infiltrated the Ministry of Magic, though why no one knows, stopping Death Eaters and the Dark Lord himself and bringing to light their continued existence.

Rumors abounded that Potter and his fellows had been in the Department of Mysteries within the Hall of Prophecy, where it is believed a prophecy concerning Potter and You-Know-Who resided. Those rumors had many believing Potter the only one capable of defeating the Dark Lord and bringing an end to his reign—though it was never proven Potter did state that “I’ve got to do it; who else can?”

Potter requested that the Prophet print his challenge to the Dark Lord for all to see:

“I’m done playing games, Voldemort,(and yes, he did say the name!). I want to finish it. You want to kill me, then come and kill me, or are you afraid of a seventeen year old? Think you can’t? You lost to me when I was one and I promise, this time, I’m going to kill you good and proper unless you can do me first. On the 21st at noon, I’ll be visiting a spot I’m sure you’ll remember--after all, it’s where it started—Godric’s Hollow.

Be there, Voldemort, my half-blooded friend, and kill me for good.”

Potter’s words have caused quite the uproar (cnt page4)

Sibyll put the paper down, not bothering with the rest of the article. She felt her heart pounding madly, her breathing shallow. “When did he—how?” she asked the room at large.

Most shook their heads, but a voice from the door answered, “Didn’t you read it; I did it last night.”

Harry had arrived and now all eyes were on him.

“Harry,” Lupin began, “what have you done?”

“Isn’t that clear? I’ve called him out. I’m sick of this. Ginny’s dying, Dementors are on the loose, Azkaban’s in ruins and he’s gaining power. I’m through.”

“It can’t end when you say it ends—“

“Yes, it can. And it will.”

“Harry, you don’t understand,” Lupin pressed. “This is not like before. Dumbledore isn’t here; Voldemort is powerful and you’re barely of age!”

“Doesn’t matter.” Harry looked to Trelawney. “After all, neither can live while the other survives.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” shot Tonks.

“Exactly what you think it means,” said Harry vaguely.

“Harry, I don’t follow—“

“It goes like this,” he said angrily. “Eighteen years ago, Dumbledore was meeting someone for the Divination post at the Hog’s Head. He didn’t really much care for it, he almost didn’t have the class, but out of respect or whatever, he met with here.” Harry’s gaze was once again upon Sibyll. “He wasn’t impressed. He went to leave, but funnily enough, the applicant actually had something of a talent in the area of prophecy.

“That prophecy foretold of a boy born to two people who’d already defied Voldemort three times. This boy would be born at the end of July and Voldemort would mark him as his equal.” Harry paused to let this sink in, before barreling on, “But there was more to the prophecy. Voldemort didn’t know that this baby would have powers that he doesn’t know about—which is what the prophecy said, isn’t it? Well, apparently, this baby boy is the only one who can stop him and there were only two possibilities: Me or Neville Longbottom.”

There was silence all around the room. Sibyll did not understand… so many years ago… and then it struck her, almost as though she’d been slapped in the face with a bag of ice. She let out a gasp of understanding.

”Nice of you to remember, Professor,” Harry spat.

The occupants of the room were now watching Sibyll. “I—“

“Please, spare me the apologies,” Harry said, holding up a hand. “I don’t need them. You don’t control fate and you didn’t ask for this.” His voice was hard, but it was a different hardness than Sibyll was used to. He was not angry at her; he was simply ready for the war.

“You have come to accept this?”

“I’ve accepted it. I accepted it about a year ago. The Prophet’s right and I’m doing what I was supposed to do. Every Horcrux, except for one has been destroyed,” here he sighed heavily. “Ginny has chosen and accepted her fate. I cannot change her mind.” His face was tight and determined; he did not want this, but he would not cry or let it hinder his ability to kill the Dark Lord. “She wants to fight with me at Godric’s Hollow; I will not stop her, though you might want to,” he looked at Mrs. Weasley, “but don’t expect her to budge.

“She’s sick and I—I don’t want her to die, but now, there just isn’t any other way. If you chose to go with me to Godric’s Hollow, it would be appreciated. I am not so unbalanced as to think that he would come alone.” He let a small smirk play his lips.

The room was silent for a moment. “We will join you, Harry.”

Harry turned to face McGonagall. “Thank you.”

He left the room shortly after, and Sibyll had the strong urge to follow, though she did not. She was sure he was preparing for the upcoming battle with the Dark Lord and she did not want to disturb his musings.

Chapter 6 ^__^

Quote:
Chapter Six: And We All Fall Down

It would never be the same. Sibyll knew for a fact that once the war was over, the world would never be the same. Sibyll suddenly wished more than anything on the morning of the 21st December that she had the power to change the past, not see into the future.

Harry woke everyone up early. Breakfast was subdued, but that couldn’t be helped; it was common knowledge that this would be the last breakfast for some.

Sibyll had no appetite really. She ate in a kind of stupor, looking at her food as though confused by it. How could something taste so good, when all was so bad? She hardly ate, save for a nectarine, which left her fingers sticky, though she hardly spared any energy to wash the juice from her hands.

Harry stood up, having finished his breakfast first to address the room. “I—I don’t know what will happen out there today, but I know that I will not rest till Voldemort is dead. You have all chosen to follow me; I give you one last chance to stay here and keep yourself out of harm. If you choose to stay behind, I suggest you get your families out of the country and go into hiding. If we do loose—“ he broke off. “No, we won’t, but we cannot pretend that the possibility does not exist. Voldemort is powerful. All his Horcruxes have been destroyed,” he looked down at Ginny, who was right beside him, “except for one.”

Mrs. Weasley sobbed into her husbands shoulder. Sibyll tore her eyes from Harry for just a second. She had never had children, just students and it was hard to understand, but her heart seemed to clench at the thought that Ginny Weasley’s fate was sealed.

“Today, some of us will die, but not without a fight and not without taking a few Death Eaters with us. If I die, I will take Voldemort with me and make him pay for all the pain he’s caused.” His eyes were on Ginny and it was clear to Sibyll that he was saying this in reference to her.

“So, does anyone want to leave?”

No sound of chairs scraping; no sound of a murmured ‘yes’; no sound at all.

“Harry,” Ginny’s voice was so soft, but the room’s silence made it possible for her to be heard. “We a-are going with… you. T-there i-is n-no turning back. Not n-n-now.” It was incredibly hard for her to speak. She was hardly able to sit up straight; her face was pale and drawn, her hair flat and dull, her eyes sunken and dead. She was closer to death than anyone else in the room.

“R-right, then.” Harry’s green eyes seemed to be wet, and though his voice sounded strong and sure, Sibyll noted the stutter as he watched the person he loved dying. “Let’s go then. Kingsley, you will go ahead and make sure that it’s safe for the rest of us. You know the signals?”

Kingsley nodded.

“Good.” Harry’s jaw was set and he tried to smile at Kingsley as the man rose and left the room.

They were only waiting for ten minutes when a Patronus came soaring into the room. The tiger was bright and beautiful and spoke in Kingsley’s slow, deep voice. “The Horcruxes are gone.”

The occupants of the room looked to Harry confused. “It’s time,” he said.

“What do you mean? What did that mean?” Ron gestured towards the spot the Patronus had just been.

“It means it’s safe. I didn’t want it to be possible for Voldemort to force Kingsley to send his Patronus giving us a false sense of security. ‘It’s safe’ would have been too obvious. If Voldemort were in the area then Kingsley wouldn’t have said ‘The Horcruxes are gone” because that would have been dangerous.”

The room murmured in understanding.

“Well, it’s time to go then.”

They arrived at ten minutes after nine, ready for a fight. The deserted muggle town was cold and covered in snow. They marched on, spelling away all evidence of their arrival, till they arrived at the spot it started. They spread out, Harry and Ginny standing in the open, right in front of Harry’s old and ruined home.

They waited and waited, Sibyll was standing close by with Luna Lovegood, watching the pair, who were whispering. Harry had his arm wrapped around Ginny, supporting her; they were saying their final good-byes.

Time dragged on and on, Sibyll was becoming anxious. Finally, a series of popping sounds met her ears and she stiffened.

All around Harry and Ginny, Death Eaters stood, watching through the slits in their masks. Voldemort arrived shortly after, his snake like face twisted in pleasure.

“Ah, Harry, I’m so glad to see that you’ve come,” Voldemort’s eyes strayed to Ginny, “and with company.” He let out a high, cold laugh, his Death Eaters jeering and laughing along. “Well, this is precious. Is this a tender moment? Did I come to soon?”

“I did say noon, Tom.”

Voldemort hissed angrily and raised his wand, “Avada Kedavera!”

Harry was forced out of the way by Ginny, who fell to the floor dead, a look of mingled surprise upon her beautiful face; the final Horcrux was now gone, along with Ginny Weasley.

Harry picked himself up, his eyes found Ginny and though Sibyll knew this had been part of the plan, Harry’s look of horror would never fade from her mind. Luna began to cry silently.

“Well, well, looks like the little blood-traitor is dead. No matter, she’ll have died in vain.”

Harry had angry tears sliding down his cheeks; he knelt down, tenderly brushing away the hair from Ginny’s face. He closed her mouth and her eyes, leaned forward and kissed her one last time.

The Death Eaters began to laugh, but none looked so pleased as the Dark Lord himself. “Did you love her, Harry? Did I just kill another one of your beloved companions? Ah, just like your mother; both needn’t have died.”

Harry was shaking with barely suppressed rage. He stood up so fast, his wand slicing the air like a sword. “Sectumsempra!”

The spell did not hit Voldemort, as that was not what Harry had intended. It flew right by Voldemort, and hit the first Death Eater. It was now or never.

Sibyll grabbed hold of Luna, turned and the two had Apparated right behind two Death Eaters, muttered quick Stunning spells and Disapparated before anyone knew what had happened. In fact, the entire group assembled to fight with Harry had done just that and now, it was only Voldemort, Harry, and Ginny’s dead body laying there as though she were sleeping.

Luna had her Death Eater bound before Sibyll knew it. Then the blonde girl had pulled out Harry’s Invisibility Cloak thrown it around herself and Disapparated once more, right next to Harry.

“Well, Tom, what now?” Harry gave no sign that he knew Luna was there, but Sibyll could see that his eyes had slid to Ginny’s body.

Voldemort looked angrier than ever, his red eyes flashing. “I see you came prepared, Harry, but it won’t matter. I will still kill you.”

“Well, then I suppose I had better take you with me.”

Voldemort laughed. “Take me with you!” His read eyes seemed to be trying to burn into Harry. “No one can kill me, Harry Potter. You were lucky many times, but no one else will be able to save you.”

“I don’t know, Tom,” Harry said casually, his tear stained face turned down, his eyes watching Ginny. “Perhaps I have more tricks up my sleeve.” Just like that, Ginny’s body had disappeared and Luna had returned to Sibyll with the dead girl in her arms, tears still running down her face.

Voldemort was laughing again. “You think you’ve beaten me? You think my Death Eaters are all I have—“

“It’s over, Tom; nothing stands between you and Death, not any more.” And Harry’s eyes fell to the place where Ginny’s body had just been.

Voldemort looked down too, his eyes growing smaller. “Where is the girl?”

“Safe.”

“Safe?” Voldemort spat. “She’s dead, Harry, there is no reason to keep her safe.”

“You just don’t get it, Tom. She is dead, but that doesn’t mean I won’t protect her body from you and your followers.”

Voldemort raised his wand again, his lipless mouth curving into a smile. “Well, it seems my followers will just have to find her for me so we can desecrate the last person who ever loved you and kill your Order.”

The ropes binding the Death Eaters were broken and those that were not Stunned jumped to their feet. Chaos rained down upon the members of the Order and it was only lucky for Sibyll and Luna that their captors were still unconscious. Luna grabbed Ginny’s cold wrist, throwing the Cloak over herself again and they were gone.

Sibyll was watching the scene play out, unsure of what to do. But those power that be, the Universe came to Sibyll’s aid before she’d made up her mind and soon she was battling, wandless as she was, a Death Eater twice her size.

Voldemort was watching the chaos in sick pleasure; Harry was staring at him, his features unchanged, apparently, he had expected this.

“See, Harry? Nothing can stop me, least of all a teenage boy.”

”No, that’s right, your only weakness is a one-year old,” Harry said with a laugh.

Voldemort did not look pleased. “I will teach you to respect me!” His wand was in the air again. “Crucio!”

Harry dodged it easily, laughing as he rolled on the snow. “Protego!”

“That won’t stop me from killing you,” Voldemort replied.

“I know,” Harry said. “So, I’m wondering, Tom, where is your little pet, Nagini?”

Voldemort’s eyes were slits of rage. “She was sent on an errand, but I can bring her back if you so wish to—“ he broke off. Harry was on his feet again, holding the largest snake Sibyll had ever seen. She nearly lost her footing while she fended off another Death Eater, her eyes on the snake.

Voldemort’s angry scream made his Death Eaters stop for a moment, a moment long enough to give the Order an advantage and the sound of Death Eaters falling to the snow were lost in the shouts of the Dark Lord.

“Avada Kedavera!”

But Harry had already jumped out of the way and was aiming his wand at Voldemort. “What’s wrong, Tom, I thought you didn’t care about anything? Could you possibly love this snake?” Harry’s taunts seemed such a dangerous thing to Sibyll, who was now tying up Death Eaters, Luna helping her, having returned from her errand of placing Ginny’s body somewhere safe.

“You have stood in my way too many times, Harry Potter! I will kill you!”

“You still seem to think that I won’t kill you first,” Harry said calmly.

“You cannot!”

“But you have no more Horcruxes, so surely, I can.” The words seemed to take a moment to penetrate Voldemort, but finally, Harry’s desired reaction seemed to burst forth giving him time to cast the Killing curse.

Voldemort’s crumpled form lay in the snow, his red eyes open wide. The sound that greeted Harry was deafening. Death Eaters that were bound and still conscious were screaming their displeasure.

“No!!!!! Master!” Bellatrix Lestrange was screaming in agony, fighting her bonds fiercely. “MASTER!!!!!!!”

Harry stepped over the Dark Lord and the members of the Order began dragging the Death Eaters with them to meet Harry.

“Harry,” Hermione Granger began, “y-you did it.” She was in awe and Sibyll could not help but agree.

“Yeah, I guess I did. But I couldn’t have without all your help,” he said. He was holding himself up, tall and proud, but Sibyll could see the pain in his eyes.

The moment of joy was broken however, as a Death Eater’s bonds were broken through. “I WILL KILL YOU!!!!!” Bellatrix Lestrange shouted her wand was in the air before anyone had time to react. “AVADA KEDAVERA!!!”

But she was not the only one who spoke those words, Neville Longbottom stood behind her as her body fell to the ground hitting it at the same time as Harry’s.

Silence met Sibyll’s ears, the silence only Death could bring. Harry Potter’s eyes were wide, but there was no fear there, just peace.

Perhaps, Harry was with Ginny, Sibyll hoped. Perhaps they were together, wherever it was you went after death. The victory was not as sweet as it could have been; Harry and Ginny both died to save the wizarding world and the tears on the faces of all the wizards and witches there would not be wiped away for some time.

“Oh god, Harry!” Hermione had flung herself atop his body, Ron kneeling next to her. “Harry, no! Please don’t be dead! Wake up, Harry! WAKE UP!!!”

“’Mione, we—h-he’s gone…” Ron’s voice was shaking terribly as he tried to pry his own girlfriend away from their best friend. “Her—Hermione, please…” Tears were rolling down his own cheeks as he pulled her towards him. She collapsed in his arms, crying and screaming, begging Harry to come back to them.

Sibyll always hated when she was right, and now was no different than the times before; the world would never be the same after this war. Never…

The finale! Well done everyone in the STFC.

Quote:
Chapter 7: The Inner Epilogue

Exactly five years had passed since the day of the war that had been filled with loss, triumph, and tears.

So many had lost a love one- maybe more than just one. Those who said that there hadn't been a triumph over evil were wrong- He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named wasn't comming back now, was he? But no one could lie and say that there hadn't been triumph over good as well, not with the Chosen One gone. Tears came throughout the war, and they still fell from the eyes of friends, followers, and those who just wanted it to end.

Sibyll sat in Professor McGonagall's office, Minerva there with her. The tragedy of five years ago had brought the two women close together- well, closer than they had been before.

But Sibyll wasn't here for small talk. Oh Merlin no. She was here to discuss her future at or away from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Small talk first, of course.

"Did you hear that the Ministry believes they know where the rest of the escaped Death Eaters are? They announced it in the Prophet this morning," Sibyll said. Her voice was as misty as ever.

Minerva nodded. "Load of rubbish, I say. They never managed to capture You-Know-Who, what makes you think they'll be able to capture nearly half of his followers?" Still, after all the years of his dissapearence from the Earth, only a select few were able to say the name 'Voldemort.' "Tea, Sibyll?"

Minerva seemed to have aged a great deal during the past five years. Most everyone who had faught in the war seemed to have aged more than needed, the young ones that were then teenagers included.

Sibyll nodded. "I find it a bit pathetic. But then again, I saw it from the moment he came into power. The Dark Lord would rise, fall, and rise again before finally falling for good. But once the final fall were to take place, his followers would hide out. It really is a gift, being able to See as I do," she said. Sibyll poured herself a bit of tea but didn't drink it.

"Yes it is Sibyll," Minerva said. She didn't want to say anything else, just in case she let out something she'd regret later.

The Seer looked out the window of Minerva's office, the Quidditch Pitch that Harry Potter had played on so many times during six of his years at Hogwarts. And where Ginny Weasley played both Seeker and Chaser for two years. It nearly brought tears to her eyes.

Looking to Minerva questionably, Sibyll asked, "Is it me, or does it not feel like it's been half a decade since, well the fall of the Dark Lord?"

McGonagall nodded. "It is not only you. Many of us think that time has flown by. The Wizarding World is so much more peaceful now, but so far from the peace we thought it would be when He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named finally died. You can never really predict what's going to happen these days," she said before taking a sip of her tea.

Sibyll mearly nodded, not wanting to give off the impression that she could see what would happen. After all, she didn't want to frighten people with her ever-knowing knowlage of the future.

"So, Sibyll, why have you come here today? Just to talk about what happened five years ago, or do you wish to clear something up?" McGonagall asked, one of her eyebrows slightly raised.

Sibyll took a deep breath. "Yes, I'm hoping to discuss something with you Minerva."

Minerva simply raised her other eyebrow just a bit and gave Sibyll a look that said, Carry on.

"Hogwarts is my home- but it's a home I no longer think is where I need to be. There is a new estableshment in Romaina where Seers can be with other Seers. If I'm able to be with other Seers, I can improve my gift - not that I need it to be improved, of course. But it can open up so many more oppertunities! And as much as I love Hogwarts, it's something I'd like to do," Sibyll said.

"If it is something you want to do Sibyll, I cannot stop you. But Hogwarts will surely miss you," Minerva said to her. But her mind was clearly on something else, espically as she looked out to the Quidditch Pitch.

Sibyll nodded. "I should be getting back to my tower," she said. But looking at Minerva, she saw distraction. "You're still thinking about what happened five years ago?" Seeing Minerva nod, Sibyll smiled slightly. "Do you know what my great-great-grandmother would say right now?"

"No, I'm afraid I don't," Minerva said, looking away from the Quidditch Pitch.

"She would say, 'Dear, all this is, is the inner epilogue.'"
