Having braved the SS50/SS100 challenge and quite enjoying it, here are a few one shots about Harry's life. I write canon so there will be H/G in the background but there is no focus on H/G's relationship. Each one shot is a standalone with the common theme of being written from Harry's POV or about Harry.

AN OVERALL DISCLAIMER: The fantastic Jo Rowling owns Harry Potter and all that comes with it. I'm just playing in her sandpit.

Title: Coming Home
Summary: After the final battle, Harry goes back to Privet Drive number 4 and finds that he never belonged there and never did.
Characters: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Molly Weasley.

Harry stepped out of the taxi and looked at Privet Drive number 4. For better or worse or even worst, this had been the place he lived in for 16 years. He turned to pay the driver after he had gathered his meager belongings. He knew that the nosy neighbors were probably sitting and staring at him, wondering what he was doing on the Dursleys’ doorstep.

The taxi drove off, leaving Harry staring at the ordinary looking house. It felt like a lifetime had gone by since the last time he had been there. With a sad smile, he recalled his friends coming to get him and how five of them, including his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, took polyjuice potion to look just like him so they could mislead the Death Eaters.

Harry found himself at the front door. He took a deep breath and got out his wand, whispering an Alohomora and opening the door.

Harry took a step into the house and sneezed. Unlike all the other times he had been there, the place felt deserted and there were thick layers of dust everywhere. It was quite obvious that no one had lived there in quite a while. As Harry walked upstairs, his thoughts drafted to the Dursleys. He had no idea if they had been told that Voldemort was dead and they could come back. He didn’t really care what they ended up doing.

He entered the smallest bedroom of the house—his old bedroom—and saw that nothing had changed since the last he had been there—much like the rest of the house. Brushing off some of the thick layer of dust off his belongings, Harry was struck by nostalgia. He had quite a bit of fond memories relating to his old school things. Of a time where he had been allowed to be himself and a student.

Not wanting to stay a minute longer, he quickly packed up his old school books and things. Thinking back to his old promise that he wouldn’t step a foot in this house again, Harry considered himself lucky that he was able to come back and get the rest of his belongings. It easily could have gone the other way. Shrinking and vanishing everything into his pockets, he took one last look around the room—saying a goodbye to a hated chapter of his life. He also said a relived bye and good riddance to the cupboard under the stairs as he came down the stairs.

Harry left the house and locked it with his wand. Dusk was just falling on the quiet, serene street. A street where Harry had never felt like he belonged.

With one last look at the row of identical houses, he held out his wand hand and with a BANG the Knight Bus appeared in front of him.

HPHPHP

It was almost Midnight when the Knight Bus arrived at Ottery St. Catchpole and the Burrow. Harry immediately woke up from his deep sleep—somehow knowing that they had arrived. During his time on the run from Voldemort and the Death Eaters, he had found that getting sleep wherever and whenever you could was a precious thing. It would be a tough habit to break.

“Harry! Harry!” Ron and Hermione came running out of the Burrow to greet him as he got off the Knight Bus.
The three of them fell into each other’s arms, hugging, crying and laughing all at the same time.

After a while, Ron untangled himself from Hermione and Harry, “Come on, Mum is expecting you—she is making you a late supper.”

Harry smiled. Molly Weasley was always thinking of feeding him it seemed. He really didn’t mind in the least—whatever made her happy.

Following Ron into the Burrow, arm linked with Hermione’s, Harry was overwhelmed with the feeling that he had come home.

This feeling got more intense as he looked around the homey kitchen. It wasn’t like the Dursleys’ kitchen with its modern appliances or its minimalist architecture. Instead there were old appliances that wouldn’t have been working if it wasn’t for the fact that they ran on magic. The architecture wasn’t anything to boast about since the building looked like it was barely holding itself together.

“Harry, dear! I am so happy that you’re back home!” Molly said as she rushed to greet him with a hug. “Come, come—I’ve made a plate of food for you. God knows that they never have any food there. Especially not with the fact that the house has been empty.”

She directed him to take a seat at the table before putting in front of him a big plate piled high with food.

“Eat, Eat!” Molly said as she left him alone with his friends.

“Mom is in her element now—I haven’t seen her like this in ages.” Ron said, “Lately, she has been crying and upset over Fred.” He stopped and closed his eyes. A tear escaped and ran down his cheek. Hermione reached across from Harry and squeezed Ron’s hand.

Harry felt like he was interrupting a private moment between the two—what with him sitting in between them. But seeing Ron and Mrs. Weasley reminded him of Ginny.

“Where is everyone?” He wondered out loud shaking Ron and Hermione out of their internal musings.

“Ah, Dad is probably sleeping—he gets tired easily these days. And well Ginny—she is with George back at the twins’—“Ron’s voice broke, “flat. She has been looking after him.”

Harry nodded. He was sad that Ginny wasn’t here to greet him and welcome him back home but he understood that she had to help George. The loss of Fred devastated the family but most of all, George became a shadow of his former self.

He started to dig into his food and smiled as he heard Molly asking if he would like seconds.

Harry nodded at her and laughed as Ron announced that he would be joining him with a plate. Before, on the run—they couldn’t afford to have seconds or even stop and have a lively conversation that didn’t involve anything but the war and the efforts to find the Horcorxes.

It dawned on Harry that he finally felt what he had been missing at the Privet Drive—here with his friends sitting on either side of him and Mrs. Weasley serving him another plate of food—this was home.

He was finally home.

Title: Snowfall
Summary: In February 1981, Lily Evans Potter watches the snow fall with her son, Harry. 25 years later, Ginny Potter does the same with her own son, Albus.
Characters/Pairings: Lily Evans Potter, Harry Potter, James Potter, Ginny Weasley, Albus Potter, James Sirius Potter, Molly Weasley

The snow fell gently on the houses in Godric’s Hallow. All the residents were inside staying warm and away from the chill of the snow.

In one of the houses, a mother held her seven-month old son in her arms as she gazed out at the falling snow. She had beautiful fiery red locks that fell in waves down her back while her son had black messy hair. He was semi-dozing in her arms, occasionally opening his eyes which were green as his mother’s to look out of the window at the snow, waving his little arm as he did so.

“Oh Harry, what fun huh? Your first sight of snow falling. It is a shame that it didn’t happen around Christmas but then you were too young to even appreciate it if it did fall.” The mother, Lily Potter, said to the baby in her arms.

In response, Harry opened his eyes wide and waved his arm in front of his mother’s face and grabbed hold of a stray lock of her hair.

“Ow, Harry—we do not grab a hold of Mummy’s hair. That hurts.” Lily gently reached up and loosened his grip.

Harry just giggled and turned his attention to the snow falling outside, “Blah, Blah!” He cried.

“Yes, Harry, that is snow!”

James Potter said as he walked up and hugged his wife and son, joining them in gazing out at the falling snow.

Lily leaned more into his brace and sighed, “Oh James, how I wish we could go out in the snow with Harry. He would enjoy that wouldn’t he? Being outside rather than stuck here cooped up inside?”

James sighed as well and kissed her before patting down Harry’s messy curls. “I wish that we could do that too, Love, but we can’t. Lord Voldemort is out there looking for us and we can’t take the chance that someone would find out that we are here.”

Lily adjusted Harry in her arms as she nodded, “Yes, of course you are right. I just wish that we could though—Harry would enjoy it so much.”

She hated the thought that they had to stay cooped up because of the damn Prophecy. Her little son didn’t deserve to have that fate nor did Alice and Frank’s little son, Neville. How she wished that they could live in a different time and be free.

Maybe they could be in the future—be able to let Harry and his future siblings get bundled up and run out to play in the snow and make snowmen. While she and James watched them from the window just to keep an eye on them, or rather she would since she was sure that James would be out in the snow playing with his children. And Sirius and Remus would join in the fun with she had Peter to keep her company. The picture of that future was so vivid in her mind that Lily could almost see the three men chasing around a little boy with messy black hair as well as his sister with fiery red pigtails around in the snow.

She looked over her shoulder at James and then looked down at Harry dozing in her arms. She knew that their present looked bleak but in her heart she knew that their future was bright.

February 2006

The snow fell on the Burrow creating a magical serene look for the crooked structure. It was nearing dusk but the children and men outside didn’t care as they played in the backyard making snowmen and having snowball fights.

Ginny Potter stood at the kitchen window, her baby son, Albus cuddled in her arms watching her husband, Harry, rush around the yard chasing his nephews, nieces, and brother-in-laws with their eldest son, James, in his arms.

She could see from here how much fun they were having especially, James who was shrieking with joy as his father carried him, chasing the other men and children around. He was in charge of throwing some of the snowballs and did so with a squeal.

“It is nice to see them all have fun isn’t it?” Molly, Ginny’s mother, said as she came up to join Ginny at the window.

Ginny nodded and smiled as she continued looking out the window. “Especially Harry—he just becomes like a little kid again when he gets to play like this. All his concerns and worries disappear.”

Mother and daughter together with grandson continued to gaze out at the various family members running around in the falling snow for several moments, just enjoying each other’s company.

Ginny turned to Molly and quietly asked, “Mum, do you ever wonder about Harry’s parents? How they would react to seeing him all grown up with sons of his own? How they would react to me and to our family?”

Molly just smiled, “I do sometimes think about them. I see parts of them in all three of your boys and I do wonder what they would say about the fact that Harry is so close to our family. And I think that they would say that they appreciate and love that we took him in as one of our own. I think that they are looking down on us and him and are pleased to see him so happy and finally content with his life. That is what I think.”

Ginny nodded as Albus started to whimper reminding his mum that he hadn’t eaten yet. Molly patted her on the shoulder as she left to see what her daughter-in-laws were doing. Ginny followed her into the living-room and settled down to feed little Albus.

Ginny didn’t know that at that very moment, Lily Potter’s spirit was looking down on them all and sighing wistfully. Lily hadn’t gotten the future she had envisioned for herself and her family. But as she gazed down from heaven on the crooked house and the children and men running around in the falling snow, her ghostly heart filled with love and appreciation. At least her Harry finally got to have his fun and play in the snow.

Title: Dreams Do Come True
Summary: In 1986, Six year old Harry dreams of having a family. Twenty years later, his dream comes true.
Characters/Pairings: Harry/Ginny, James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter

1986

When Harry was six, his teacher asked them to draw their families and what they do with them over the weekend. He knew that he couldn’t exactly draw that he usually spent his weekends doing chores and being yelled at by his aunt and uncle, while they, themselves, played and spoiled Dudley. If he even just drew one of his chores, Harry knew that there would be trouble. How often had he been told that he mustn’t say anything about they do at home? If he did, he would end up with the police and put into an orphanage and Harry didn’t want that even if he had to remain living with his aunt and uncle.

So what could he draw instead? Harry picked up his pencil and bit the end of it as he stared down at the blank paper in front of him. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt if he drew what he wished for? A dad, a mum and maybe a little sibling or two to play with?

Yes, that is what he will draw! Harry decided and immediately started drawing. First he drew his parents, making sure to add messy hair for his father (he had once heard his aunt say to his uncle that Harry’s head of messy hair very much resembled his father’s) and long tresses for his mother (since Aunt Petunia always kept her hair short—Harry figured that his mum would be the opposite and grow out her hair). For his sibling, he drew a smaller figure than him and gave it also long hair having decided that he would have a little sister because a brother wasn’t much fun as evident by growing up with Dudley.

Having finished drawing his dream family, Harry continued to think about the activities they would do on weekends. He knew that he didn’t want his dream family to do what the Dursleys do on the weekends which mainly consisted of his aunt feeding her husband and Dudley while the two men just sat around watching TV all day. No, that wasn’t what Harry wanted his dream family to do at all—he wanted them to be outdoor people, spending as much time outside together. He imagined his father bringing a football home with him so that he and Harry could play together in their big back yard. His mum and little sister would cheer them on from the patio where cookies and milk would be waiting for everyone afterwards.

With a wistful smile on his face, Harry quickly drew the stick figures that would represent him and his father as they played football in the backyard. Thinking more about it, Harry couldn’t see his mum being like Aunt Petunia and just catering to his needs and giving him snacks. He pictured her being gentle but insistent that he and his little sister eat a fruit most days for a snack over the more sugary treats that Dudley loved to snack on. Although, in his fantasy, Harry’s mom would definitely allow each child a choice of one snack over the weekend—this made the weekend so much more special in Harry’s eyes.

So he quickly drew himself having his chosen treat with his mum standing by his side hugging him.

Finally, Harry was finished with his masterpiece and he got up to proudly show it off to his teacher. Unfortunately for him, he had been placed in the same class as Dudley and the teacher just so happened to be a good friend of Harry’s aunt, Petunia—so she did not like the fact that Harry had drawn his dream family over his “real family” and that earned Harry a punishment from both his teacher and his aunt and uncle.

Since that day, Harry never mentioned or thought about his dream family ever again.

2006

Albus was dozing in Harry’s arms as James hopped excitedly from one leg to the next as he waited for Harry’s permission to head outside.

“We going outside now, Daddy?” James’ squeaky voice asked loudly, “We going to play outside aren’t we?”

Harry patted Al’s back as he glanced down at his eldest. “Yes, Jamie. We are as soon as Mummy comes home to take care of Al.”

James frowned in thought, “And when is that?” He asked.

“In just a few more minutes,” Harry said looking at his watch as he held Albus with his left arm, “She said that she was on her way.”

Just then there was a loud popping sound from outside. “MUMMY!” James yelled as he run over to the door in order to greet Ginny.

“James! Shhh…you will wake up Albus.” Harry scolded him as Albus moved in his sleep and then settled down to continue sleeping.

“How are my boys doing?” Ginny said as she opened the door, bracing herself for the onslaught of James’ greeting. He run and hugged her by the waist.

“Guess what Mummy? Daddy and I are going to play with that muggle ball!” James said smiling up at her.

Ginny just said, “That is nice Jamie—so I guess that Al and I will be cheering you two on now won’t we?”

Harry stepped nearer to her and replied dryly, “He is insistent that Al won’t know what to do with the ball and he wants it to be ‘Daddy and Jamie’ time. But I wouldn’t mind if you do come and cheer us on and if I win….” His voice dropped into a suggestive tone which made Ginny blush and turn a bit red.

“Harry! Not in front of the C-H-I-L-D-R-E-N” Ginny replied but then whispered in his ear, “Wait until tonight.” As she took Albus out of Harry’s arms.

Settling Albus in her arms, Ginny turned to James and grinned at him, “I think that you and Daddy can go and play with the ball now! Al and I will come and watch you in a few minutes—we need to set up some snacks afterwards.”

At her announcement, James’ eyes grew wide and he jumped up and down, “We get snacks? Yay! I want ice-cream and marshmallows and…”

“Jamie! Mummy is going to decide what snacks she wants to make NOT what you want, alright?” Harry said as he bent down to Jamie’s level.

Chastened, James silently nodded, a single tear escaping his eye to roll down his cheek.

Seeing that, Harry quickly picked him up and hugged him, “Jamie, I’m not angry with you, nor is Mummy okay? You’ve been waiting patiently like a good boy to play with me so why don’t we go and play outside with the ball?”

James nodded and when Harry put him down—he rushed off to get the ball.

A few minutes later, Harry found himself happily kicking around the football with James, enjoying himself as James yelled and run after him trying to get the ball away from them. He waved at Ginny and Albus watching them from the patio with the snacks sitting next to them on the table.

Harry realized suddenly that after twenty years, his dream fantasy of having a family had come true. When he had them that is what they were- just dreams. This was more real—these dreams had actually became reality. He might not have a Dad and Mum of his own but he had a family of his own and that is all that mattered.

Title: Family Vacation
Summary: Faced with Albus about to start Hogwarts, Harry decides to take the family on a vacation to the seashore
Characters/Pairings: Harry/Ginny, Lily Luna, James Sirius, Albus Severus
A/N:This fic is actually inspired by quidditchmum's fic called Harry's Holiday Hi Jinks. I HIGHLY recommend it because even though the pairings are canon-- the antics that the Weasleys get up to in muggle Florida are funny

Lily squealed as she was thrown into the air and caught by her father. Harry grinned as he saw the look of ecstasy on her face as he threw her up in the air one more time. As he caught her this time—Lily throw her own skinny arms around his neck and hugged him tight.

“I love when you play with me like this Daddy,” She said, voice muffled by his shirt. Harry cuddled her closer. He really didn’t have much time to play with his children as he used to now that he had been promoted to Head Auror.

Just then the patio door opened and the boys rushed out into the garden to join them. Ginny followed at a much slower pace but smiled at him as she gave him a kiss on the lips as their three run in circles around them.

“James! Stop!” Al and Lily yelled as their older brother chased them in circles.

Hugging Ginny close to him, Harry whispered in her ear, “What do you think of us taking a family vacation—maybe to the seashore?”

Eyebrows lifted in question, Ginny leaned back so she could look into his face. “Are you sure? To take our three marauders on a holiday? Have you lost your mind?” She sounded skeptical. They hadn’t had a holiday with all three of them alone as a family. They had always gone on holidays with the rest of the Weasleys since there were enough adults to watch all the kids and do things together. The last family vacation that they had gone on as a family was when James was a baby before Albus and Lily.

Harry laughed and replied, “No, I haven’t lost my mind. I just think that with Al starting Hogwarts in a few weeks. It could possibly the last family holiday we have together before they are all grown up and don’t want to be with us. Gin, I need this okay?” he finished in a whisper, pleading with her to agree with it.

Ginny frowned at him in silence for a few more minutes before nodding her head, “Alright. Let’s go on a family vacation.”

With an excited “Whoop!”, Harry picked her up and spun her around in circles as their three children laughed and yelled caught up in their father’s excitement.

Finally, he put her down and knelt down and announced, “Kids, we are going to the beach!”

James, Albus, and Lily looked at each other before jumping up and down again—this time with excitement of their own.

“We’re going to the beach! We’re going to the beach!” Lily sang as she danced around in circles. Her brothers were equally excited as they whooped much like their father had done earlier and clapped their hands together.

Once it was decided, it was not long before Harry and Ginny had arranged for time off from work and booked at a quaint little bed and breakfast place in Blackpool for the week.

There was an extra treat for the entire family as Harry elected to fly down to Blackpool. Of course they flew with a muggle airplane and the children were over the moon, poking at all the muggle gadgets in the plane as well as getting a chance to visit the cockpit after the air stewardess realized that it was their first time flying. Harry and Ginny had a tough time on their hands trying to stop the boys and Lily from mentioning actual magic in front of the muggles.

Nonetheless even they were secretly excited and thrilled to be able to be on an airplane. Harry had told Ginny that the Dursleys once or twice left him with Mrs. Figg for a week and flew to Euro Disneyland in France and Harry always had wanted to get on a plane as well—just to experience what it was like.

At his admission, Ginny squeezed his hand and said, “You’re getting to do it now with us.”

A couple of hours later, they had landed and Harry had driven his tired family to the bed and breakfast where he and Ginny promptly put their children to bed in anticipation for the next day.

Very early, the next morning, the boys and Lily woke their parents by jumping on the bed.

“Wake up, wake up! We want to go and swim!”

An hour later, the Potter family were all dressed in their bathing costumes and ready for their first day on the beach.

Even though they were going to behave like “muggles” on this trip, Harry did an Expansion Charm on their bag so that they could take more things that they needed with them such as towels, extra clothes, a beach umbrella, as well as a cooler filled with drinks and food for the day.

Once they set foot on the sand, Ginny led the family to a spot which wasn’t too near to the water or too far and they set up camp for the day. Once that was done and Ginny made sure that all of her family were protected from the sun by asking Harry to perform a wandless sun-screen charm on everyone—they all headed into the water.

The boys and Harry raced in the water to see who could reach the first buoy while Ginny and Lily preferred to stay closer to the shore. After a few minutes, the men of the family joined them and the boys made a game of chasing Lily, pretending to be a shark before their father put a stop to it.

The kids and Harry stayed in the water while Ginny decided that she had enough of swimming. So she swam back to shore and their camp to relax and read the muggle novel that she had brought at the airport.

In the water, Harry teamed up with Lily while James and Albus teamed together and they played a lively game of ‘Marco-Polo’. Each team took a chance at being Marco and an hour later, the boys had won three of the five games that they played. Afterwards, Harry decided that it was time for them to get out of the water so he suggested that they get the muggle game of Frisbee and play on the beach for a while.

The boys put up a token protest while Lily was excited and convinced her brothers that it would be fun playing. With the children occupied with playing with the Frisbee, Harry went to relax next to Ginny.

As they sat and watched their kids have fun, throwing the Frisbee between them with the sea as the backdrop, Harry turned to Ginny and kissed her.

“Thank you for letting me do this.” He said.

She smiled and kissed him back, “You’re welcome and you were right—now that Al is going to start Hogwarts in September—we probably won’t get the chance to do this for a long time. I’m glad that we did do this.”

Harry hugged her tightly and gazed out at his kids who were having a blast throwing the Frisbee. Maybe in another half a hour, he would take them back into the water and swim some more.

Title: Going to the Movies
Summary: 10 year old Harry Potter longs to go to the movies but the Dursleys never take him. 10 years later, he finally gets a chance to go.
Characters/Pairings: Harry, The Dursleys, OMC, and mentions of the Weasleys

1990

“Dad, can we go to see ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ on the weekend?” Dudley asks loudly at the kitchen table one morning. In front of him was a huge tower of pancakes with maple syrup and butter dripping down in giant puddles.

Harry glances up from where he is concentrating on his sole pancake with nothing on it, strangely hopeful. He knew that there might be a slight chance, really slight, that he could go with to see the movie. He has never seen a movie in the movie theater yet even though Dudley has seen dozens of them. Every time that the Dursleys had gone to the movie theater, he (Harry), got shipped to Mrs. Figg for a nightmare afternoon with her stale biscuits and cats.

But maybe this time...

“Well, Dudley, you have been extremely well behaved this week. So I think that we can go and see the ‘Ninja Turtles’.” Harry’s aunt, Petunia, replies.

“Great! Can we bring Piers as well?” Dudley asks excitedly. His parents both nod in agreement before returning to finish their breakfasts.

Harry knows that his time to ask is coming to a close so he quickly blurts out, “Can I come, please?”

At his question, the three Dursleys stop eating. Harry can tell that Dudley is preparing to fake cry in order to prevent Harry from coming with. His uncle’s face is slowly turning purple with rage and his aunt is going pale as she locks eyes with Harry’s uncle.

His aunt is the first to respond, “No, Harry. You will be going over to Mrs. Figg.” His uncle nods in agreement and satisfaction.

Dudley immediately smiles, happy by the prospect that he would be spending his weekend at the movies while Harry was stuck with Mrs. Figg and her cats.

Harry thinks to himself that sometime in the future he will go to the movie theater and see a movie. Any movie he wanted to see and none of the Dursleys will stop him.

2000

Harry Potter bites his lip as he stares at the building in front of him. The people, muggles, are walking in and out of it. Most are chatting excitedly about what they just saw. Little children were busily eating ice cream as they left with their parents. All in all, it is a happy atmosphere and Harry desperately wants to be a part of it.

As he stands there, a long forgotten promise flashes in his mind.

Why not? He thinks to himself. He has got the time and the money. He is standing right there. What does he have to lose?

Having decided, Harry heads into the movie theater.

Once there, he is bombarded by the various movie posters and the crowd of muggles, actually crowd is an understatement--it is a mob of people all moving in all different directions. Harry just turns around and takes it in. Having been exposed to Magic and the Wizarding world in addition to surviving Voldemort and his Death Eaters, Harry can’t say that he is naive and innocent. He really isn’t. But this...was way out of his comfort zone.

His nervousness must have been obvious seeing as a young, pimply teenager walks up to him.

“Hey, you okay mate?” His face resembles Ron’s and for a split second, Harry wonders if Ron somehow had discovered what he was up to.

“Ron?” He frowns and asks the kid.

The teenager laughs, “Nooo, mate. The name is John. You look lost and in need of some help.”

Help sounds like a good idea to Harry. Like helping him pick out one movie out of the seemly endless myriad of movies to choose from.

“Yes, yes. I can’t decide what movie I want to see.” Harry finally admits.

John frowns and nods, “Okay, that is easy. What do you like watching?”

Harry thinks but honestly he doesn’t have an answer. He hasn’t done much watching of the muggle telly or movies.

He tells John this and immediately gets a belly laugh out of John which lasts more minutes then Harry would have liked.

Hiccuping from laughing so hard, John replies, “Man, you are probably the first Movie virgin I’ve ever met. Come, my student, let me educate you. You are in for the experience of a lifetime!”

With that, John puts his arm around Harry’s shoulder and leads him into the depths of the movie theater.

Hours later, when Harry finally leaves the theater to go home, he is no longer a movie virgin and he knows that he most definitely does NOT like screwball comedies or ‘Chick flick’ movies as John termed the hideous romantic dramas and comedies that he made Harry sit through.

He learns that he is like the rest of the male race (according to a bemused John) with his love of the action, the mega blockbusters. He loves it so much that after finishing watching ‘X-men’, he immediately asks John about the possibility about renting out the movie theater for a few hours.

It is doable according to John seeing as the theater rents out some of its movie theaters for parties.

Which will be perfect in a couple of weeks for Ron’s 21st birthday. Harry knows that the Weasleys would be really amused by ‘X-men’ and of course John would get a kick at meeting more people who are ‘movie virgins’ like Harry.

Title: Sad Goodbyes
Summary: Harry says his final goodbyes to his family
Characters/Pairings: Harry/Ginny, James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna
WARNING: mention of character death

Despite spending his teens under the threat of constant death, Harry Potter ended up living a long satisfying life with his loving wife, Ginny and their three children, James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. He cherished watching his children grow up and eventually marry and have children of their own. Sometimes, he felt sad knowing that he got to experience everything and more that his parents weren’t able to so in those moments, Harry vowed to enjoy his time with his family even more and that he did. He knew that he did not want regrets the day that Death came to visit him.

Finally, that day had come. Harry lay in the bed that he shared with his Ginny by his side. She tenderly patted at his silver hair, tears running down her cheeks.

“Oh, Love! Please don’t cry.” He whispered to her—he could never bear to see her cry for long.

Ginny smiled tearfully. “You’re leaving me.”

Harry knew that after he was gone, Ginny would be the sole surviving member of their generation in the family. The others, except for Fred, had all lived long lives before Death came to visit them.

“I know.” Harry could not say anything else as she collapsed on his chest sobbing.

Their eldest, James, came over and laid a hand gently on his mother’s back. “Mum, come now. Let Al and Lily say their goodbyes to Dad.”

He gently helped her off the bed and moved to the side with her as his brother and sister took their place by their father’s side. James held his mother close as she sobbed. He whispered incoherent nonsense in her ear as he watched his siblings say their goodbyes.

Finally it was his turn. James walked up to the bed where his father lay impossibly frail and old. It was a jarring picture because for James, his father had always been larger than life not because he was Harry Potter but rather by virtue of being James’ father.

James took his place by Harry’s side as Harry took his hand in a surprisingly strong grip. “You are now the man of the family, James. Take care of your mother and siblings. I am counting on you.”

With tears running down his cheeks, he nodded and in a voice thick with tears, he whispered for one last time, “I love you, Daddy.”

Harry smiled at him and replied quietly, “I love you too, Son.”

With that, Harry closed his eyes. His grip on James’ hand was no longer strong and tight. James continued to hold his father’s hand, tears running down his cheeks. Behind him, he could hear his mother weeping together with his sister as his brother tried to comfort them both.
