Chapter eleven
From Stranger to Brother

Mel sat hunched at a desk in the corner of the classroom staring at her sister. Beside her were Kathryn, Fiona and Rebecca. It had been three days since the incident and they had not spoken since. Mel had been adopted by the girls in her dorm after James tried fruitlessly to talk to her and Kaleb didn’t know what to say to her.

Indie sat ignoring the staring of her sister as she concentrated solely on her work and pushed her Mel to the back of her thoughts. It was there birthday in two days but there moods were to sombre to even consider celebrating it.
James looked up from his work and saw Indie writing furiously while Mel focused all her energy on staring at the back of Indie’s head.

“This is getting silly” Kaleb whispered to him “She’s not going to talk to her she’s just going to stare at her and before you know it they’ll be fighting again.”
“Not if I can help it” James replied checking Indie couldn’t hear him “Meet me in the library at lunch I have an idea”
Kaleb turned to face him, his glance flickering between the twins faces “Fine but we can’t just dump Indie in or she’ll be mad at us as well”
“I’ll sort it”

“Err, Indie is it ok if I leave you here only I need to go to see Professor Longbottom about something from my dad” Said James stopping out side the entrance to the great hall.

The smell of today’s lunch tempted him in but he had something else to do. “Its fine, I’ll see you in transfiguration” Indie smiled slightly as he looked at her concerned “don’t worry, im ok your not abandoning me, I think I can manage to eat lunch without you and Kaleb next to me” James smiled back “ok see you later then” he waved and headed off to the library finding Kaleb sitting alone hidden behind a pile of books.

“You’re not reading these are you?” James grinned looking though the books
“No, im hiding from Mel and the gossip girls, have you ever seen me read anything?” Kaleb smiled
“Never” James glanced around the room and at the shelves. “There he is, right on time”
Kaleb looked around, “Who?”
“Scorpius Malfoy”
“You gotta be kidding me James”
“Im not, he comes here every lunch time, I’ve followed him before” James said walking towards Scorpius, who was skulking near the restricted section.
Kaleb got up and grabbed his robes “You’re not thinking I mean… What are you telling him?”
“I think he already knows, I’ve seen him watching them” Said James stopping to face Kaleb, “I think he knows who they are and that his father has told him”

“You can’t be serious, how can you have noticed this and know one else?” Kaleb said placing himself in front of him blocking his way. “I don’t know but it was the way they picked up on him in the beginning of all of this, I mean you heard the twins talking” He whispered “They recognised there likeness to him even before they knew they were related”
“That doesn’t prove anything” Kaleb looked at him suspiciously, “There’s no way he would admit that he had illegitimate daughters to his wife and son, that’s just not Malfoyish”
“Malfoyish, I think you have had too many hits on the head with a bludger” James stepped around him and carried on walking towards the white blonde hair in front of him.

“Scorpius Malfoy”
“James Potter”
“I wonder if I could have a word with you about something”
“I suppose, but keep in mind we are our father’s children” he smirked, then sat down in a large armchair.
“I don’t think we need to keep up old enemies for there sakes there are no reasons why we can’t have a civilised conversation” He smiled and sat opposite him.
Scorpius looked into James’ eyes and spoke “Is this about your friends, those twins?”
“Yes, how did you know?”
“I may be eleven but I can guess things about my fathers past, I noticed our similarities especially the fiery personality from one of them”
“Mel”
“Have you come to tell me how I’m related to them, confirm what I think?”
“Yes, there… well they wouldn’t want me to say but…”
“There my sisters aren’t they”
“Yes” Kaleb spoke and sat down next to them both, “Does your father know about them?”
“I think so, he get’s quiet and wants to be alone around the New Year so I assume that’s there birthday”
“Yes, I can see why you’re in Slytherin with that intelligence” Kaleb looked at him full of disgust,
“I’ll take that as a complement” Scorpius sneered at him.
“You should I don’t give them out very often” Kaleb replied quietly and James turned glaring at him and then turned back to Scorpius.
“So you knew and never said anything?”
“I was waiting for them, I take it they know who I am and about our father”
“Of course, but you don’t seem that surprised” James looked at him carefully, watching his eyes stare back there likeness to the twin’s was exact and he noticed the calmness of his manner to be the same as Indie’s but with Mel’s impulses hidden with in.

“Im not, you have heard the stories about my father from your own no doubt” Said Scorpius eying the two boys carefully, James nodded,
“Do you want to talk to them?” Kaleb questioned, regaining his interest.
“Yes, I would like that; do they want to meet him?”
“One of them does, that’s why were here” Said James “Indie’s not sure”
“And you want me to do what?” Scorpius looked at both of them “I wrote to him and asked him about them, and he replied that he’s coming to the school to speak to me so I suppose he’s going to tell me who they are then, you want them to met him”
“Yes, but when is he coming”
“January 1st” Scorpius smiled.
Kaleb looked confused and then the date dawned on him, “But that’s there birthday”
“That’s the point” Said James, “I think Indie will have changed her mind by then, but they have to speak to their mother before then”
“Can I see them today?”Scorpius looked at them, “I want to tell them about dad before they meet him, their mums probably not been the nicest about him”
“Yes, but they’ll have thought we interfered” James looked worried “I don’t want to lose there friendship over this, I want to help them but they won’t help themselves”
“I’ll say I found out from my dad, I don’t think he’ll mind” Scorpius smiled, and Kaleb spoke up “How do we know we can trust you?”
“You don’t, but it seems I’m your only chance for them even talking to each other again” said Scorpius glaring at Kaleb
“I told you he watched them” James looked at Kaleb, from who the two boys wanted a reply,
“I guess” He muttered “let’s go” and got up motioning to James to follow, but he sat still and continued to talk “I don’t know how you’ll get them together to talk to them, its like you said they don’t even talk to each other any more”
“I’m sure once I tell them I know who they are they’ll want to talk to me” Scorpius smiled and got up “I think your friend wants you to go with him now, I don’t think he likes us talking” James grinned at him and then Kaleb “It’s his problem” He got up as Scorpius made a move to leave too,
“See you around Potter”
James laughed “You too Malfoy”

Indie sat in the Transfiguration room clutching the letter in her hand. She had forgotten her books and when she went to the common room she found the owl by her window. She hadn’t spoken to her sister and this had come addressed to the both of them, ‘Why can’t she treat us like separate people?’ she thought to her self when James sat down beside her.

“Hey Indie, you have a good lunch?” He said emptying his bag, “Fine, this came from my mum”
“And...?” James looked at her as Kaleb sat down next to him “And what?” Kaleb stared at them both,
“And it’s addressed to both of us, I haven’t opened it”
“Open it read it and then give it to her to read” said Kaleb
Indie looked at him “I can’t do that, we have to read it together. We always do”
“Well you’re not exactly talking, are you” Kaleb said as Mel along with three chattering girls walked past and sat at the front of the room. “No but this is your chance” James smiled at her “Go quick before the professor gets here, you know he’s always late.”

She looked at him, then Kaleb who nodded and then to Mel as she threw her head back in laughter.
She ripped open the letter and began to read, then pulled out her wand and made a replicate of the letter appear next to it. She then folded the original up and used her wand to cause it to float to Mel. Mel looked up and then to her sister, she grabbed the letter and looked at what was written on the front “Indigo and Imelda” opening it she read and reread the contents. Mel sat in silence while Indie waited for her reaction. Mel got up and walked over a grim look on her face.

“We’ll talk later, once I get rid of the chattering triplets” she turned and walked away just as the professor strode in the room.

“I knew he was bad, but never a death eater” Said James,
“Well that’s what she says” Said Mel sitting beside them.
They where in the library the only place the gossip queens dared to tread if they really needed to.
“I suppose his dad being one he thought it was the only way to not be killed” Said Indie
“I’d rather die then kill others” Kaleb said looking at Mel, trying to figure out what she was thinking.
“I don’t trust Mum Indie, she seems different in this letter, like she’s trying to be nice about him and then says he’s a bad guy, she’s hiding something” Mel looked at her sister,
“I think your right” Said Indie eventually “But she’s our mum what could she have to hide?”

“A lot” Said a figure coming towards them “Our parents all hide something from us” he moved closer to the group,
“It’s nice to finally meet you both, im Scorpius Malfoy and im your brother” he smiled coolly at them and sat down at the table. He ran his hand through his hair, moving it away from his eyes and looked at them revealing the pale blue - grey orbs the three of them shared, all now shining with happiness and glistening with tears.

Chapter twelve
Trust

The two girls sat in surprise unable to speak when Scorpius spoke first, “I guess you want to know how I know” They both nodded “Well I guessed, I mean we do kind of look similar, and I heard my dad talk to my mum about some stuff like ‘there at Hogwarts now’”

He glanced at the boys who had tried to look surprised that he had come over.
“I take it your mum’s called Elizabeth, since he said it before though I don’t think he knows I heard” they nodded again, “Well I was going to wait for you to see me or dad to tell me but I couldn’t, though I have a surprise for you” Indie couldn’t speak so Mel replied for the both of them “What?”
He smiled “I heard those guys talking about your birthday, and then my dad wrote to me saying he wanted to talk to me about something and I guess it was about you guys, but he gave me a date”
“You have to be joking” Said Indie who had already figured it out “Not January 1st, don’t tell me he’s coming here on our birthday” She looked at him her face had changed from shock to despair and Scorpius looked at her confused from the expression on her face. “Indigo, Imelda, I know you don’t know me, but I’m asking you to trust me. I think my father has been trying to see you but your mother has stopped him”
“How do you know?” Indie hissed “how can we trust you, or anyone anymore?” she got up as if to leave but Scorpius stopped her just by looking at her, “You are going to have too” He said, he remained focused on her eyes as she fought the hold of his power, but he was stronger he had had more practice “We three share a gift inherited from the Malfoy blood line, do you want to know more?” She nodded and he released her.

“Wow Indie! He has better control over it then you do” Mel smiled
“Don’t start Mel” Indie sighed sitting down again
“Your names are Indigo and Imelda, but who are you two, their body guards?” he smiled at them and Kaleb spoke up, “There Indie and Mel, not Indigo and Imelda”
And James hoping that the girls would not be suspicious said “And we’re James and Kaleb, there friends not body guards”
“I recognise you now” he looked at James and hiding a smile, pretended disgust,
“You’re Harry Potter’s son”
“I am and so is my brother, but I thought you were here to talk to them not us” He sneered back at him, and Scorpius turned his attention back to the girls, acting as if he had been offended.
“I know that your mum hasn’t been truthful about our father, you can believe what I say about him, I have lived with him for the last eleven years” He grinned as the twins smiled back weakly, “Do you want to meet him on your birthday?”

Mel nodded, and then Indie hesitated and nodded grasping her sister’s hand and squeezing it. Mel looked at her “I guess I had some time to think and I would like to meet him, we just have to watch out for the professor” Indie said in reply.

“My dad has the headmistresses permission to come here I doubt she can stop you meeting him then”
“It’s not her we’re worried about” Said Mel
“Its professor Anchorage, he’s dating our mother” said Indie. Scorpius looked up in surprise,
“Really, well then we’ll just have to keep him busy” He smiled. Just then Madam Finch came round clearing out the library to close it for the night.
They walked up the corridor together until they had to take separate routes,
“Bye Scorpius” The twins said
“See you tomorrow and we can get started on this plan” He grinned and made his way to the dungeons while Indie, Mel and the boys made there way to the common room.

They met in the library again the next day at lunch time and sitting at the table discussed there plan. There father was to met Scorpius in a classroom prearranged by the headmistress so that’s where the twins would go. The meeting was on a Saturday day so there where no lessons to worry about the only thing was, Jasper Anchorage would be keeping an eye on them. There was no doubt that professor Tibet had informed the staff of Draco Malfoy coming to visit his son and no reason why Professor Anchorage would not pass this information on to his beloved Elizabeth informing her of daughter’s whereabouts’.

They came up with the idea of putting on such a show to confirm to him that they wanted nothing to do with there dad after they found he was a death eater, that he could assure Elizabeth of it. They placed themselves at the front of the line for the history of magic class and as he approached began to talk in whispers which he, no doubt, would hear.
“I mean a death eater Mel; surely you don’t want to know him after that?” Indie looked at her feigning abhorrence, “Of course not, you know I trust mum. If she’s seen that tattoo” Mel said and Indie nodded as they made there way to there normal seats at the back, Mel ignoring the request of Kathryn to sit with the girls.

The professor trying to hide his interest in there conversation, but failing, spent the lesson walking around the room as they took notes from there books hovering to listen to what they said and falling for it completely.

The lesson finished, there task completed and the four of them headed to the oak tree at the lake to meet Scorpius for lunch, out of sight of Jasper. “Hey there little brother” Grinned Mel, walking over to were he was sitting “Not little, just brother please” He smiled back. “It’s odd to have sisters, or any other siblings it’s always just been me it must be fun for you two” he laughed as they sat down next to him while the boys seemed to be arguing down the path behind them, they stopped as Kaleb looked as if he was fit to burst.

“Look, I just don’t trust him, he’s a Malfoy for goodness sake” Kaleb hissed and James glared back
“Give him a chance, it’s not up to us we just have to be there for the twins, he maybe a Malfoy but you explain how he knew about them, you said your self Malfoy senior wouldn’t have told him”
“I don’t know, but then why didn’t he tell us the same as he told the girls” Kaleb stared at him as James went to walk on and join the girls at the tree “He probably didn’t trust us, you weren’t exactly friendly”
“Where as you were acting like best buddies” He sneered and James ignored him and carried on walking, but stopped again to confront him “It’s better then hating some one for no reason, I mean your parents didn’t even go to this school, mine were and still are avoiding Malfoy’s, but I want to make an effort, I can’t just not like people for the sake of others, he’s not a bad person he’s just in Slytherin”
“And a Malfoy” Kalbe muttered
“So are Indie and Mel in case that slipped your mind”
“And it must have slipped yours that you planned to disown your brother if he became a Slytherin at the beginning of the year” Kaleb turned and fumed walking back to the castle ignoring the shouts of Indie and Mel asking where he was going.

“He has a problem with Scorpius” James whispered to Indie and Mel, as he sat down at the roots of the large oak.
“Im going to go and talk to him” Mel got up “he might listen to me”
“Don’t use magic or anything else on him you might make it worse” Said Indie.
“Were meeting him in two days, are you ready?” Scorpius said, sitting up and scooping up small rocks in his hands.
“Yes, but is he ready for us?” She smiled watching her sister walking up to the castle
“You said he knows we existed so what’s stopping him all these years, it’s not like we moved every year so he couldn’t find us”
“I don’t know on both counts, but by what you say about your mum, she has something to do with it” Scorpius stood up and began skimming the rocks across the dark black surface the sun shining on the banks.

The clock chimed in the entrance way sometime later and the four made there way up to the next classes. The classroom for the meeting had been decided as the unused room on the fourth floor, and the time set for noon. The girls began a count down, whilst James tried to talk to Kaleb over the next two days but failing he still wasn’t talking to them on New Years Eve and when he did it was only to tell them they couldn’t trust Scorpius.

Chapter thirteen
Happy Birthday
Indigo awoke to an owl pecking on the window in between her and Mel’s beds. Its leg held a letter and a small parcel as it continued to peck even as Indie opened the window. She opened the letter written from her mother to them to find a card decorated in blue, black and silver butterflies flying around the paper.

To my dear daughters

Have a happy birthday,

Love mum xxxx

P.S I spoke with your father, he’s still unchanged, and im sorry but he doesn’t want to know.

“Mel wake up” she said shaking the figure cocooned in her quilt “Mel!” she tried again but her sister huddled deeper. Indie pulled the quilt off the bed, “Get up” she heard a groan and then a snore. Focusing all her energy on her sister she lifted her up in the air, through the bathroom door and into an empty bath surrounded by a crimson curtain “fine” said Indie she turned on the cold taps and heard a yell “WHAT THE HELL!”
Indie stood arms crossed card and gift in hand
“WHY IN MERLINS NAME AM I SOAKING WET IN A BATH AND IN MY PYJAMAS?” shouted Mel from the bath, using the curtain to pull her self up.
“You wouldn’t get up” Indie said quietly, looking at her feet.
“So you thought, ‘I know, I’ll put her in the bath and make her think she’s drowning’” Mel said, clambering out of the tub and perching on the edge “you could at least get me a towel” she looked at her shivering, her face red in subsiding anger.
“Oh yeah, sorry” she handed her one “I tried but you wouldn’t move, this was all that came to mind”
Mel wrapped her self up and huddled on the floor “What was so important?”
“This” she handed Mel the card and waited “She’s lying, she’s lying to us without even batting an eyelid, and I knew we couldn’t trust her”
“I suppose” Indie sighed looking to the floor
“You suppose what, you know just as well as I do she doesn’t want us near him and she thinks where going to stop asking about him if we think he’s some kind of murdering monster” Mel began to shiver again
“Who’s a murdering monster?” Came a voice from the doorway
“None of your business Fiona, so keep you fake nose out” Shouted Mel
There was a cry of “I had a deviated septum” and then the sounds of stomping down the stairs.
“Hey we have five more years of sharing a dorm with those three be nice” Indie got up “Here this is yours, from her” she handed her a small blue velvet pouch from out of the parcel, and held on to her own black one.

Indie sat on her bed and opened it; a silver chain fell out followed by an onyx stone set in a silver locket. Mel emptied her own pouch onto her hand a locket of the same design only with a sapphire emerged from the velvet.

“Is she trying to bribe us?” Mel flung it across the room “She’s lying and I want to know why, why does she want to keep him from us”

Indie placed her locket back in it pouch and put it into her beside draw she retrieved Mel’s and put it with her own “Im sure she had her reasons”
“REASONS, YOU WANT REASONS?” Mel shouted
“No matter how wrong she was” Indie finished, “Let’s get dressed and go downstairs” she put the card on the window sill “The guys are probably waiting for us” Mel replied grabbing a dry towel and going back into the bathroom,
“Let me have a bath myself this time” She smiled and turned on the taps and Indie walked towards the showers.

They walked down stairs and met James sitting on the couch with Rose and Albus. “Are you two ok?” Said James, he had immediately picked up that something had happened and his face became etched with concern for his friends, “Nothing” Indie smiled, “Just a card from Mother dearest, peddling more lies” Mel finished plopping herself down next to Indie ,as Rose and Albus left to get breakfast.
“Well I guess he doesn’t know Malfoy’s going to visit Draco today and you plan on meeting him so tricking Anchorage worked” James replied, “so now I bet you want our presents” He grinned as Mel’s eyes lit up, “Oh yeah, we get presents today”
“That’s generally what happens” James threw a small package at Mel and gave one to Indie, saying “Kaleb and I decided to spent our money wisely and pool it together to get you something together, but since he decided to be an idiot, Im glad I got you guys something else each too”
The twins looked at each other smiled and then opened the packages.

“Wow, it’s beautiful, thank you James” Indie held in her hand a small wooden box decorated with silver embellishments of leaves and flower’s with her name on the top. Mel held up her own in the light as she admired it, “Thanks James, just you wait, I have my own supply of chocolate frogs and plan on pelting that idiot with them till he starts making sense”

“You wouldn’t’ be talking about me would you?” Kaleb grinned and sat next to James holding a large box in his hands, which he placed in his lap covering his head and torso. “It seems that if we’re going to get on I need to well stop being an idiot and well if he hurts you don’t say I didn’t warn you” he poked his head around the side of the box.

“Well thanks Kaleb, we appreciate your concern for us” Said Indie as the box was placed on the ground
“But we can take care of ourselves” Said Mel smiling “So what’s in the box?”

Kaleb’s grin stretched to his ears, “well since you have a lot going on, we thought we’d throw a party, and this is just some of the stuff we got hold of until tonight, keep in mind this is all very dangerous stuff” He handed over the box as Mel eagerly pulled off the lid. The twins both began to laugh “Chocolate!”
“Like I said, its extremely dangerous stuff, all those weapons for you to throw at us I might end up confined to the hospital wing” Kaleb laughed, “oh and there are other things as well”

Indie stuck her hand in reaching for something round “Badges?” she held it up as it flashed ‘Birthday girl’ in blue, black and silver, “You have to wear them or you won’t get the party”
They pined them on there tops thanked the boys and headed down to breakfast.

“Are you nervous?” Asked James as Indie shovelled down pancakes “Only I’ve never seen you eat so fast in the year and I halve I’ve known you”
She nodded looking remarkably like a hamster or a squirrel, her cheeks filled with pancakes.
“Well we should be, though I can’t wait for noon, what time is it?” Mel poked Kaleb with a spoon as she tried to look at his watch abandoning her full bowl of porridge, “Its ten o’clock” Said Kaleb restarting his conversation with Francis again..

“Two hours, how can I wait two more hours?” Mel sighed nearly putting her face in her bowl, just as Scorpius came over. “Happy birthday, you two”
“Thanks” They smiled
“Aren’t you worried about what the other Slytherin’s say when they see you talking to four Gryffindor’s” Sneered Kaleb, “You have the Malfoy reputation to uphold don’t you”
“Shut up Kaleb, please for everyone’s sake you need to get over it” Said James and glared at him as did the twins. Kaleb muttered something indistinctly and turned back to talk to Francis again.
“Well since were related they can think what they like” He placed a small leather book on the table, “I got a book out from the library and made this for you, it’s not much but anyway happy birthday” He smiled and walked out of the hall.
Mel opened to the first page and Indie let out a gasp, it opened out to a large piece of parchment and became a family tree with them on, right back to the first Malfoy’s, intertwined with the Blacks, Weasley’s and other pure blood and none pure blood families.

As eleven approached the foursome sat in the boy’s dorm avoiding anyone else. Indie had been pacing anxiously and both James and Mel had given up trying to make her stop and calm down over the last half hour.
The three sat on the floor not talking about what was going to unfold in an hour and how they would finally meet there dad, after thirteen years of not knowing.

Mel was sat down quietly fidgeting with her hair, then the badge, then her bracelet and going back to her hair nearly pulling it out in angst. “Calm down, Mel, it’s going to be fine” Said James smiling reassuringly to the both of them while Kaleb looked on,
“I am calm, im just nervous, I mean what if he doesn’t like us, or…or” Stuttered Mel, surprisingly lost for words,
“Or what, sis it’s going to be fine” Smiled Indie coming to a halt,
“Then, why are YOU pacing up and down the room?” Mel grinned
“Just ignore me, you know I do this to help me think” She smiled in return and began to pace.
“Do you want us to come with you?” Said Kaleb looking at the floor and avoiding there surprised gazes
“We’ll be ok, Scorpius will be there too remember” Mel smiled as he looked up when she said his name, “He is our brother after all” Kaleb nodded in reply and began to stare out of the window from were he was sitting.
“Is it odd, now you know your Malfoy’s” asked James hoping that by talking to them they might both sit still, Mel stopped fidgeting again and stared at him deep in thought, whilst Indie continued to pace.
“I guess” Said Mel now smiling “With these powers as well, it’s a lot to take in but I think we managed ok”
Indie began to laugh still walking up and down the room, “I think I was more ok with it then you were Mel, I mean I never exploded in rage like you did, I gained control over our new powers faster then you did and best of all my school work never suffered”
Mel smiled “Well you have all ways been more efficient then me, I can’t concentrate when something big happens I don’t know how you do it”
“You must do ok, because if I had said that before you would have attacked me with your wand or worse that large supply of chocolate frogs you have”

They all began to laugh and Indie sat down, relaxing a little more while Kaleb seemed still more distracted.

The time slowly wore away as quarter to twelve became closer, and they decided to head off to the classroom leaving the boy’s, much to there dismay, in the common room telling them to “wait for us here” reassuring them they would be ok with Scorpius.

They met him in the corridor to the once forbidden corridor of the third floor and made there way up to the classroom. The girls stood silently outside while Scorpius knocked and entered.

Two minutes later there was the sound of “What?” and a sigh, when a door burst open down the corridor and a man in navy blue robes approached, his eyes confused, his black hair neatly tied aback and a woman looking livid next to him.

Wait...don't tell me...they (mom and boyfriend) were waiting for Indie and Mel to show up to meet their dad? That was a great post. Please post again soon, I have to find out what happens.

Chapter Fourteen
Deception

Mel and Indie stared in shock and then Mel shouted just as the woman opened her mouth to speak.
“Scorpius, she’s here!” She turned to Indie her face pale, as was hers.

They both looked at there mother striding towards them as a tall blonde haired figure opened the door and stepped in front of them.

“Elizabeth stop” he stared directly at her ignoring those around him, she drew her wand and stepped forward pointing it at his heart.
“Why are you here?” she spoke angrily staring back into his eyes as Scorpius came out and stood behind his father.

“To see my son, and tell him about his new sisters” He replied calmly not bothering to draw his own wand.
“So why are my daughters here, you dishonoured our agreement” She looked at him loathingly, a sneer on her angry face.

“I did nothing of the sort, I merely came to see my son but it just so happened he had already figured out who they were” a smile played across his lips as he spoke again “He’s a smart boy, I had nothing to do with him finding out he just noticed there similarities and it seems there eager to get to know me and him”

He glanced at Jasper who stood behind Elizabeth wand drawn “Dating there teacher, I guess there not very happy about it”

Elizabeth’s face became enraged but she stayed rooted to the spot, she looked around to see why couldn’t she move and noticed Indie and Mel unblinking staring at her there faces pale and without emotion.

She couldn’t move but she could still speak ,“I was worried about you two when you neve replied to my last letter so I thought I’d come and surprise you, but I find you consorting with this monsters son, and ignoring my warnings about him”

“You lied to us” Mel breaking eye contact, but Indie never wavered still holding her mother still which now included stopping her mouth from spouting more lies.

“You pretended to us he never wanted to see us, but he does” Mel said drawing her own wand and pointed at her mother. Draco didn’t move but spoke still staring at Elizabeth calmly, “I’ve wanted to see you the last thirteen years, I was never allowed your mother is a very able witch”

Indie relinquished her grip over her mother who was shaking with anger as she spoke,
“Liar” She spat fuming with rage “You never wanted to know, I told you about them and you ran off to that Granger woman and got yourself put in Azkaban when she went back to her Auror boyfriend”

“And yet you fail to mention that under a year later, I was married and came to see you pleading with you to let me see them to which you turned to magic” Draco replied.

Her wand was still at his chest, but then Indie drew her own and stepped forward with her sister, both their wands now pointing at there mother.

“How could you do this to us?” Shouted Mel
“Very easily apparently” Finished Indie, her eyes were filled with tear’s she dare not shed.
“I’m sorry” Elizabeth carried on pointing her wand as the girls came closer.
“SORRY” shouted Mel “YOU THINK SORRY IS GOING TO FIX THIS”
“Imelda, please clam your sister down I just want to talk to you about this” Elizabeth said still focused on Draco,
“I’m not Imelda, I’m Indigo” Smirked Indie as they came closer to her and Elizabeth lowered her wand at her mistake,
“See you lived with us all those year’s and you still can’t tell us apart” said Mel the rage building up her eyes watering.
“Im sorry girls” She lowered her wand completely and looked at them,
Mel continued “That right, we’re girls now you can’t remember which is which”
“I never wanted to hurt you” her own eyes began to well as she looked away from them, they kept there wands focused on her.
“But you did” Said Mel
“You have done so, everyday you kept him from us”

Indie spoke her voice filled with venom “You used magic to keep him away, all these years you have robbed us of a father when you knew all along he wanted to be there with us”
“HE MAY NOT HAVE WANTED YOU, BUT HE WANTED US” Mel shouted at her mother. They walked to towards her forcing her back toward Jasper who stood in shock taking in everything.

“Here take her away, she’s not our mother” Indie and Mel said together there word’s exactly the same, the anger in there voices laced with hatred. Elizabeth collapsed on the floor, crouched in a heap.
“Im your mother” she whispered “I was trying to protect you from him”
“From what” Scoffed Indie
“He’s our dad” concluded Mel.

They turned to see him smiling at them “You don’t know how long I’ve waited to here you say that”
“Yes we do, we waited with you” they smiled and walked towards him as he held his arms out to embrace them, just as there was a flash of red light.

OMG what did their crazy mother do this time? I love how Draco actually wanted to see his girls and I loved how the girls stood up for themselves and their father infront of psycho mom.

Chapter Fifteen
Draco’s our Daddy

“I don’t think so” A smiling Scorpius held his wand firmly. The light had passed and a stunned Elizabeth lay on the floor as Jasper knelt down to say the counter curse. “She was going to curse you dad, I had to stop her” the three children next to Draco turned to face him as Elizabeth awoke. “Quick in here” Draco held the door open as they stepped inside the classroom leaving Anchorage and Elizabeth in the corridor.

He pulled out his wand and said some spell’s under his breath pointing it at the door. He sat at a desk, the girls and Scorpius sat facing him one the one in front. He began to talk and told them everything about himself, what had happened between him and there mother but left out certain points like who Granger was, “That’s not important” and why he had been to Azkaban to which he replied “He would tell them later, they had best just stick to the basic things for now”

They took in everything they told him as he explained about the spell there mother had placed on him so he was unable to contact them in any way, how he had pleaded with her, explained how different he was but she had ignored him. And then how she had promised he could she them on the eighth but now it seemed she had never any intension of that happening. But then it came to the subject of what to do now,

“I don’t want you to cut your mother out of your lives, she raised you, and you live with her, she does love you” He looked at the girls, “I maybe your father, and I do want to know you, and would rather have you live with me, but she is your mother”
“And she lied to us, for thirteen year’s she never spoke to us about you, and told us you didn’t want us when we did ask” Said Mel her rage at her mother surfacing and showing only in her eyes.
“You would have us live with you?” Indie stared at him intently
“Yes, but I mean if you don’t want to, and want to be with your mum” Draco looked nervously between them and then to his smiling son “I think it’s a great Idea, I think I could enjoy having sisters”
“We would have to tell her and then she might get all… well she’s not going to be happy” Indie looked at her sister worried written all over her face, Mel understood what she was thinking and said it for her “She might cast the spell again”
“If you want to live with us, then you can and I will sort it out with your mother, I can be very… persuasive, but I won’t ruin your relationship with her, no matter what you might think you do need your mother” He looked firm in his words and they nodded in understanding “But what about your wife?” Said Indie “won’t she have something to say”

“She knows, I think she’s quite eager to meet you too” He smiled “Indigo and Imelda Malfoy, if you want to be”
They laughed “Yes but I think were the first Gryffindor Malfoy’s” smiled Mel
“Whose best friends a Potter” Laughed Scorpius
“Well hopefully the next generation of Malfoy’s follow in your footsteps, im proud to call you mine” Draco smiled “Happy Birthday, my daughter’s, I hope you got what you wanted”
They laughed until they remembered what they now had to do. Draco got up and undid the spells on the door, to find no one outside, “They’ll have gone to his office”

They headed up to the stair cases avoiding looks from other students as to what Malfoy senior was doing there, and with two Gryffindor second year girls as well as his son in tow. They approached the office to find Elizabeth waiting. She was sitting wand draw facing the doorway. Jasper was sat at his desk, quill in hand and he looked up as they entered. “Come in by all means, make you selves at home” Said Jasper pointing at the couches around the room. “I prefer to stand” Said Draco coldly, “Indigo, Imelda would you wait with Scorpius outside, this won’t take long, but me and your mother have some things to discuss” Her turned and smiled at them reassuringly they nodded hesitantly and left taking Scorpius with them.

“You don’t want them to here what you have to say, now you’re the one trying to protect them but from what?” She smiled still holding her wand firmly and standing up. She barely reached his shoulders in height but was angry enough to still be intimidating. Malfoy however made it clear he wasn’t bothered what she did to him by refusing to take out his own wand and saying “from you”

“Me, im the one who looked after them, who raised them, who taught them, you did nothing except donate sperm” She sneered.

“I did nothing because that is what you left me with, I told you I wanted to be a part of there life and you wouldn’t let me, but you were willing enough to take the galleons to pay for the clothes, there books, there robes and school supplies at the beginning of there first year, and for them to live on every other year before that” He replied his cool grey eyes baring into her angrily, so that she couldn’t look away, “Now Im taking care of them properly, it is there choice that they come and live with me, and be a part of my family to which I have no objection, only that you stay away until they chose to seek you out”

“You can’t do that, im there mother, they belong with me” Elizabeth stared back at him,
“And im their father, they need time to adjust to every thing time that would better spent in my company, I have thirteen years to make up for no thanks to you” Draco replied, he was just about to turn to leave when Jasper spoke, “You can’t take them now, there still in school”

“I’m not ignorant of that fact Anchorage. I going to take them for the holidays in Easter, and then every holiday when there not at school after that, until they decide who they want to live with. If it’s me, then I shall be more then happy to provide for them, and if it’s you, my family and I will all ways make time for them, give them a home should they wish it and they will always be known as Malfoy’s.” He smiled his long black cloak bellowing behind him as he swept out of the door.

“Let’s go, I believe we have a party to attend” Draco smiled as they walked to the Gryffindor common room. To find professor Longbottom outside waiting “I wonder if I can have a word with you all” he smiled, then turned to Malfoy,
“Malfoy” they shook hands politely,
“Longbottom” and looked at each other remembering there pasts. Draco held still on to his hand “I am truly sorry, Neville” the professor nodded knowingly and lead them to his office down the hallway.

“If you would wait outside” he pointed at a bench for Imelda, Indigo and Scorpius and then gestured Draco inside.

Chapter sixteen
Mistakes made
Kaleb sat looking out of the window, waiting with James for the girls return. He looked distracted as James tried to strike up conversation with him and failed though picked up that something was going on.

“Your hiding something Kaleb I know you are” He stared at him accusingly, “What have you done mate?”
“Nothing” He muttered a reply; as he turned back focusing all his attention on the gamekeepers hut in the distance.
“There is something you’re not telling me, and I bet it has something to do with Indie and Mel” He continued to stare at the back of his head, “There’s nothing just leave it”
“Fine, but you have to admit it at some point” James got up to leave and opened the door,
“I’ve done something really stupid” they both turned to look at each other,
“Like what?” He closed the door,
“I might have told Anchorage that the girls were meeting there Dad today” Kaleb blurted the words out quickly and moved back closer to the wall as James came to wards him angrily.
“You did what!” James fists clenched, his body stiffened and his face went pale before turning a shade of red his great uncle Vernon would be proud of, then he fell forward on to the floor hitting his head hard as Kaleb put away his wand.
“Im sorry, I had to do it so you wouldn’t punch me” He smiled weakly “I know its not going to stop you when I release you but it might delay it and give me a chance to explain” He bent down and dragged James to the edge of the bed when he pulled out his wand “I hope this works… Wingardium leviosa” he pointed it at James, making him rise of the floor and hover over his bed when he took his wand away James landed on the quilt softly.

“Ok now, im going to explain” Kaleb pulled a chair next to him and began to talk.
“I went to see Professor Anchorage this morning before you woke up, he seemed very surprised to see me so I guess the trick worked well. I told him I knew everything about the twins and the Malfoy situation, and he told me he had his own suspicions on how they couldn’t be trusted” He looked at James his eyes where the only thing moving and the angry glare he got back was not what he was hoping for.
“Look, I had my reasons for not trusting Scorpius just as you did for believing him. I thought what I was doing was right, until he told me he would have to tell there mother.” James eyes stopped moving and looked at him unblinking in horror.
“Yes, I know, that was my reaction to. So then I told him not to get her involved, but then he said some things he shouldn’t have, like how there mum was using magic to keep Mr Malfoy away and that was how dangerous he was” He looked at James again whose eyes were still staring waiting for more information of his betrayal.
“Then I noticed how there stories never seemed to add up, he would say different things, I mean for a smart person he was really stupid in his attempts to get me to help him. I eventually agreed to keep quiet about what he had said, but it’s been eating away at me all day, so now im telling you because I’ve mucked up big time and I need your help”

He took out his wand and said the counter curse quickly and moved over to the other side of the room to avoid James’ wrath.

He got up slowly, his body stiff. He stood and stretched his arms and legs, it had only been five minutes but it felt like five hours. He turned to face Kaleb and drew his wand “How could you be so stupid!” He yelled walking closer, “Never mind punch you, I ought to curse you, do you realise how much trouble you caused I f she comes here….” His voice trailed off with his train of thought “Oh god” and pulled out a piece of parchment out of his other pocket with the other hand still holding his wand and pointed to it saying “I solemnly swear im up to no good” He sat on the bed and scanned the paper.
“She’s here” He looked at Kaleb, who looked like he was going to burst into tears,
“She’s with Anchorage in his office, help me find the twins” He studied the map till Kaleb pointed “Professor Longbottom’s office, there with Scorpius and his dad”
James cleared the parchment and put it away in his pocket, “You’d better stay here, you’ve done enough”
Kaleb looked at the floor “I was trying to protect them, they are my friends to I do care about them”
James turned and left leaving Kaleb alone with his thoughts, as he sat on his bed and drew the curtains around himself.
*****“How could he be so stupid” James thought to himself climbing the stairs and glancing at the map. He turned the corner and found them sitting on a bench. There eyes glazed over as they looked blankly at the wall in front of them.

“Indie, Mel are you ok” James walked cautiously towards them, his stomach twisted in knots he couldn’t tell them what Kaleb had done, they looked up and smiled when they saw him coming, “Hi James, what you doing here?”
Said Indie, “Where’s Kaleb, if you couldn’t keep away to see if things were all right surely he would want to make sure everything was a disaster”
“He’s in the common room sulking” He smiled weakly, “So why are you guys out here, nothing has gone wrong has it?”
“No, no, it’s all ok apart from our mother turning up” smirked Mel
“And then us finding out she lied to us about dad, and was keeping him away with magic its all ok” Indie grinned, “but on the bright side, they are officially Malfoy’s and our coming to live with us” Scorpius grin reached his ears just as Malfoy stepped of the office with a matching one.

“Have a seat Draco” Neville pointed to a chair in front of his desk before sitting down behind it. They looked at each other carefully before Draco spoke.

“I see your prospects have changed dramatically since school”
“I’ve been back here five years and it’s more home now then ever before” Neville smiled “The events of are childhood are not to be forgotten but we were only children”
“I see befriending Potter finally paid off” Draco smiled slightly but still worried
“It did, im a Herbology Professor and a volunteer for the wizarding law enforcement department”
“I don’t behave that way anymore; I’m different to how I was when first set foot in this school, Im more then capable of living a death eater free existence”
“I can tell, lets discuss Indigo and Imelda shall we and not relive the past” Neville took out parchment and a quill as Draco nodded.

“So you where here today to meet them against there mothers wishes”
“Yes but didn’t know I was going to be meeting them, I have, it seems very clever and sneaky children” Draco smiled vaguely,
“Then they take after there father in that respect” Neville glanced at him before continuing to write, Draco forwent the urge to reply and remained silent.
“So without your knowledge they arranged for you to see them without there mothers permission?” Draco nodded “I’ve never even seen the girls in the thirteen years I knew they existed, my son found out about them, I don’t know how, but they became close and when I came to tell him about them today, well I was sprung with the shock of finally seeing them and then Elizabeth interfering”
“You are aware you had a meeting arranged with the school and Miss Hathaway to meet them on the eighth”
“Yes but from what she said today, she had no intention of it ever going ahead, she told them I never wanted to see them, but for all this time she used magic to keep me away”
“I see, is she still on the premises”
“Anchorages office”
“I heard they are engaged”
“I am not privy to that information, however, it has been organised that the girls are to live with me and not them”
“I see no objection to that happening although the ministry might have something to say, as she is there primary carer you would have to have Miss Hathaway’s full permission or go to the wizard family court”
“I do not wish to air my dirty laundry in the public eye, they are my daughters if they want to live with me I can’t see why they shouldn’t” Draco stood up to leave, “I understand Draco, but this has to be sorted out for there sake if not though the ministry then use the school, she can use the fact you don’t know them properly against you and, I doubt you could get to see them regularly if you don’t declare them as your daughters. I would advise you to tread carefully but I know you care”
“I do” Draco’s face was filled with anger “But she robbed me of them and I won’t let it happen again, what I have to say to her has been said, it is there choice that they live with me and I have no wish to disappoint them by refusing them because of there mother, I will go ahead with or without her permission”
“Don’t act to hastily Malfoy”
“I don’t plan too” He grinned and opened the door greeted with four smiling faces.

*****“Is it all right if he comes to the party in our house Professor, only this would be the first time he’s with us for our birthday” Mel looked up at him turning on the puppy dog eyes which weren’t really necessary in this case,
“I don’t see why not, you will have to leave via my office tonight unless you would rather stay here there are guest quarters available?”
“No Thankyou, but could I use your fireplace now just quickly, you see I have there presents but there at home” Neville nodded “I’ll wait and escort you to the common room”

They nodded as the twins, James and Scorpius walked up to the Gryffindor common room and let in much to the surprise of the fat lady that they were bringing a guest from another house let alone a Slytherin.

James led the way up to the boy’s dorm where they found Kaleb still hidden behind the curtains of his bed,
“Come out Kaleb, im not telling them you have too” James whispered as the twins and Scorpius grabbed boxes of decorations and food and then went back down the stairs.
*“Happy birthday”, Draco handed them a gift each smiling. They were rings of silver there names, as Malfoy’s, engraved on the inside of them. “I can’t stay im sorry. But for now I think its best we keep this all quiet for a little while, there are still legal things to work out with your mother”
The girls nodded placing the rings on there fingers “thankyou” he hugged them both and left just as people began to arrive in the common room and from there dorm’s.
*“There going to kill me im not taking the risk” Kaleb sniffed and huddled himself deeper in the covers
“Im not telling them for you, this is your mess” James yanked at the curtains pulling them open and began to attack the mass under the quilt, “Come out you big coward”
“Aww me nose, geroff” came the muffled reply, “can’t it wait till tomorrow”
“Now” James got a firm grip on the quilt and pulled it off the bed “you have to tell them it was you who got there mother involved, they could have seen him today and not have to be questioned by anyone, they could have had a good day and not seen there mother at all, but you caused it”
“Kaleb is that true” Indie looked at him then to James “You brought her here” she was standing in the doorway looking disappointed.
“Yes, now do your worst, im ready” He sat cross legged on the bed and closed his eyes waiting for the impact of a punch or a spell but neither came. “What were you thinking?”
“I would have thought it obvious he wasn’t” Said Mel’s voice from behind her sister. “You didn’t trust us to make the right decision and now you made things worse” she stared at Kaleb his eyes wide open in horror that she had heard it like this, then she turned and fled down the stairs and retreating to her dorm.
“Im going to go and talk to her, I understand you thought what you did was right but you should have trusted us” Said Indie leaving to go after her sister.
Kaleb flopped backward on his cushions, while James walked to the door preparing to leave.
“Great now what are we going to do?”
Kaleb focused on the water jug to the left of his bed as James spoke with a slight smile,
“I don’t know about me mate, but you’re on the wrong side of the Malfoy family, what is there to do apart from go into hiding”

Great post. I can't believe that Kaleb did that to them. That's not how a true friend is supposed to act. Is their mother going to allow them to live with Draco? I hope she will, parents shouldn't be that mean to their children. I can't wait for more! Please post more soon!

Chapter seventeen

Silent treatment

It had been two weeks and not a word had been spoken between Mel and Kaleb. She refused to be in the same room as him apart from lessons where she would sit with both Indie and James in between them.

James sat down next to Indie under the tree at the lake. It was the Sunday of a Hogsmeade weekend and only first and second years were milling about the grounds, even though the weather required scarfs gloves and jackets they were not deterred.
“Please talk to her and get Mel to talk to him, he’s driving me mad he won’t stop talking about her and how sorry he is and that she won’t listen to him. It’s not like we don’t already know!”
“I’ve tried but she’s having none of it”
“I don’t know why she can’t forgive him I mean you did” James looked at her in earnest “You do forgive him don’t you” She smiled and nodded in reply,
“Mel just… well she holds on to things for a while” She grinned at James while he looked on.
“Well then im just going to have to shout at her” He turned to face her smiling, while Indie replied in laughter,
“You do that and she’ll levitate your butt into the nice cold lake here”
“Well I can’t think of anything else Im mean she’s your sister surely you can get her to talk to him at least”
“She won’t listen to me never mind what he has to say, she’s set that he was wrong and I think only time will change her mind” She sighed and pulled her cloak around her closer.

James noticed and smiled, “Come on lets go in before we both catch colds” He got up and grabbed her handed helping her to her feet and they walked side by side up to the castle in silence.

“Please Mel, talk to me I can’t take much more of this” Kaleb stopped her as she tried to make her way to her dorm. She ignored him and pushed past.
“Looks like your little girl friend don’t want to see you any more” Smiled Fiona,
“Shut it Fiona, she’s just my friend, or at least she used to be” His head lowered, he shuffled up to the dorms to flop on his bed. After some minutes, he drew his curtains around the bed, lit his wand in his now private cocoon, and began to do his homework.
*****“Mel you have to talk to him, he’s your friend” Indie sat next to her on the bed,
“He betrayed our trust, he told on us hoping to be proved right when everything went wrong” Mel turned away from her and began to rifle though her trunk.

“He said he’s sorry, and I think he really means it, he was only trying to look out for us even if it didn’t work. He regretted talking to Anchorage and tried to stop him from telling her but it was too late”
“Yes and now she’s going to do everything to keep us away from Dad” Mel picked out her blue hoodie and put it on over her t-shirt. “What?” Said Indie looking at her surprised “So you don’t think that Mum would have done the same to keep him away now if she hadn’t come when we met him that day”
“I don’t know, I mean he made things worse” She sat cross legged on the floor while Indie continued to talk,
“She would have tried just the same, you heard what dad told us, she had planned a visit on the eighth yet she never told us, and sent those notes even a birthday card to make us not want to see him, with out even telling us we could” Indie drew breath “Your angry at him for not trusting you because he’s your friend, your best friend and now when he’s sorry you won’t except him cause your afraid”
Mel looked at her pointedly “Afraid, afraid of what?”
“That because he’s your friend he’ll do it again, he’ll try and protect you and then what will you do”
Mel sighed, got up and walked out the door. She strolled around the corridors for a few hours until she met someone unexpectedly.

Draco sat in his study once again looking though the papers on his desk, he sighed placing his head in his hands,
“Dandy” he called, a small house elf appeared before him “Yes Master”
“Dandy, could you get me a fresh pot of black coffee, boiling hot”
“Yes Master” the elf squeaked and left.

He picked up a sheet that said ‘application to obtain full custody of child/children from primary parent/guardian’
Another ‘family law in wizarding households’ he read this and filled in the others and then tied them to his owl sitting on the perch, just as Dandy returned with the coffee and her Mistress.
“Draco my dear you need sleep, not more coffee” She spoke, her voice full of love “the lawyers have spoken to hers and everything goes ahead tomorrow, you know that as well as I do so why are you still in here”
“I forgot some of the forms; I’ve just sent them now. But I have to be awake when the reporter comes, they’ll be here soon”
“You’re going to go ahead with it”
“Yes” he spoke with such finality she knew not to say anymore. She walked around the desk and kissed him, “Goodnight Draco” and she walked out of the door and up the large staircase to there room just as there was a knock at the door. “Dandy could you bring them in here please” He shouted as the elf apparated and stretched out her arm to the door handle.
“Hello there” said a chirpy female voice from the door, “Im here to see Mr Malfoy”
“Right this way Miss” She led her to the door as Draco poured a cup of coffee and took a sip feeling it burn his throat and warm his insides.
“Draco Malfoy” She smiled politely,
“Pansy Parkinson” was his reply
“Long time no see, my old flame” said Pansy grinning as they hugged,
“How are you?” said Draco
“Im doing ok, married, three daughters, good job with witch weekly, fantastic inheritance from my Grandmother. But what about you I don’t even know why I’m here”
“I’m sorry the appointment is so late at night, this is the only time I could do it with work and well… everything else.”
“Everything else” She looked at him searching his eyes for clues, but she didn’t have to.
“Please, sit down; I have something’s to tell you”
*“My god Draco, you have been through the works in the last twenty years” She smiled sympathetically
“The woman from all this stems is called Elizabeth Hathaway”
“Hathaway you say” she reached into a pocket and pulled out a diary “Elizabeth Hathaway of Yates Street, near Coventry” she looked at Draco in concern,
“The very same, how do you know her?”
“I have a meeting with her tomorrow; she told me she had a story of a wealthy Wizard, of whom I’d be very interested in, I guess it was you”
“I guess it was me” He thought for a moment “You believe me Pansy, you understand all that I have told you”
She nodded “Then I can trust you never to speak or write of it outside these four walls until after you publish her story”
He looked at her firmly, “But...” she tried to speak “I mean she’s going to discredit you and it will probably hurt your case”
“It will hurt hers more, by doing this publically it shows she has no concerns for our daughters feelings on the matter, and the fact that she was so eager to disapprove of me by putting this in print will show of her obvious disregard for following the wizarding courts rules on the matter of custody”
“Custody, I thought you only wanted to visit them”
“I want them with me where they are safe from her and her new fiancé, the girl’s history Professor”
“She’s dating there teacher surly that must come in somewhere, every parent knows you don’t get involved with your kids teachers”

Great post. I can't believe that Elizabeth is going to make the story public like that. Does she not care about her children at all? Please post more soon. I have to know how the custody hearing goes. I really hope Draco gets custody of the girls. Oh, and that Kaleb and Mel start talking to each other again. I have a feeling that she's going to need her friends to get through what is up and coming with her mother. PAMS!!!!

Chapter eighteen
Going Public

“Professor” Mel looked away embarrassed,
“Miss Hathaway” He smiled slightly and carried on walking.
“Wait” she called out “Aren’t you even going to tell me off?”
“Why would I do that, it’s before the night time curfew your not out after hours yet” he smiled again and looked down at his watch, “you have ten minutes”
She stared at him looking deep into his eyes, “Did you know you would be teaching here before you met her?”
“Yes, but she never told me about you two until the beginning of this year. I came here knowing I would be teaching you before I could do anything about it”
Mel turned away and began to walk back to the common room but he carried on speaking
“She misses you, you know your mother”
“I don’t have a mother” she looked at him angrily “we have a liar” and carried on walking up the stairs and approached the portrait hole to find someone there. He looked miserable and held his wand lit calling for her in whispers. He was just about to walk down the opposite corridor when he heard footsteps.
“There you are, you’ve been gone for hours and I was just going to find you before you got in trouble for the curfew -” he was cut off by her throwing herself at him and hugging him tightly. He grinned and hugged back. They let go and stepped back smiling “So I take it we’re friends again”
“Only if you promise to trust me, no matter what happens”
“Don’t worry; I think I can manage that”

Things began to go smoothly for a week until one breakfast time a copy of the latest Witch Weekly magazine had most of the great hall staring at them.
“What’s going on Indie?”
“No idea” She replied.
James and Kaleb came over a copy in there hands there faces grim.
“She’s gone public” James placed the double page spread in front of them, “Malfoy’s by blood but not by name, Draco’s illegitimate daughters identified.” Indie read and then saw there photos, there smiling faces waving back at them.
“Why would she do this?”
“Is it true, your Malfoy’s?” said Fiona and Kathryn the same vicious prying look on there smug faces as they basically scrambled over the table to ask.
“Yes, and proud of it” came a voice from behind the twins, it was Scorpius.
“You’d better not go out in the wind like that your face will stick and you’ll be stuck with it forever, but you weren’t exactly a pretty face to begin with so it might be an improvement” the table erupted in laughter and the two girls stalked off there noses in the air. Scorpius continued “Dad’s in Tibet’s office we have to go and see him”
“Ok, see you two later” they got up and left with Scorpius, the majority of the hall craning there necks to look at them.

They knocked on the door apprehensively “Come in” came the reply,
“Good morning take a seat” she smiled at them kindly as they looked at Draco before sitting down next to him.
“So you understand why you are here” said Draco looking at them,
They nodded, and Scorpius spoke, “why has she gone to a magazine, it’s not like it’s a big deal”
“It is to her and other nosey witches out there” Said Mel angrily
“We’re his illegitimate kids he had with a mad woman thirteen years ago and never told anyone about, its big news for gossips” said Indie
Draco glanced at her uneasily before speaking, “It has been arranged for us to go to wizarding court over your custody, your mother will not give you up easily but it has now come to a point where you will have to attend a hearing and tell the court about the situation, and who you would like to live with”
“When?” said Indie and Mel simultaneously
“Monday”
“But that’s tomorrow”
“They where late it telling us all when it would happen, but I didn’t know she was going to publish the story till a few days ago and they wouldn’t change there minds about running it”
The three children sighed and Scorpius spoke, “do I have to say anything?”
“Yes, don’t worry; it will all be fine just tell the truth”
They nodded
“It has been arranged with your Headmistress and the court that you stay with me tonight to go into London tomorrow before returning to school the next day, that if its ok with you two”
“Yes” a smile appeared on there faces the first time during the interview in the office.
“Just pack an over night bag, smart clothes for the hearing as well as school robes for the next day. If you could be ready for five O’clock this afternoon since I have to go to work and Astoria, your mother” he glanced at Scorpius “will be here to get you”

They said bye to the boys and made there way to the office meeting Scorpius along the way.
“Scorpius” the woman smiled and hugged her son “And you are Imelda and Indigo, but I here you like to be called Indie and Mel” she bent down to hug them both too. “So which one of you, is which?”
“Im Indie”
“Im Mel” they smiled back. They were going to like her, she was nothing like there mother.
“Well Indie, Mel, it’s nice to meet you. You can call me Astoria. Shall we go; there are some people who would very much like to meet you waiting”
They walked into the emerald flames and stepped out into the large living room of Malfoy Manor. The room was filled with guests all smiling at them greeting them with hugs and kisses and telling them who they were till they came to a familiar face in the crowd, there father walked towards them happily, “So what do you think of your new family girls”
“I think were going to like living with you” they smiled happily back laughing as Scorpius joined them prying himself away from an overly attentive great aunt.

The only family of Draco’s not present was his father. He had refused to accept them as Malfoy’s. His stay in Azkaban for being a death eater had not showed him the value of family but only to wallow in self pity.

After three hours of being poked prodded and praised they left to go to bed led up the stairs to a twin room with two large beds, wardrobes and sets of draws. “Good night girls” Said Draco as he left. They changed and climbed into bed exhausted and thinking about tomorrow.

Absolutely great post!! I can't believe their mother, well actually I can. It's pretty obvious that she doesn't really care about her daughters. I'm really hoping that the correct parent wins out in the end (that would be Draco by the way, as if you didn't already know my opinion). I'm so glad that Kaleb and Mel are friends again. Chapter 19
Hearing the truth

They woke to the smell of a cooked breakfast in the air, and showered and dressed hurriedly watching the clock. Draco and Astoria were seated at the table already and Scorpius followed them down soon after sitting beside them as they picked nervously at the food.

“There’s nothing to worry about is there?” Said Scorpius carefully,
“No, if all goes well today you will be spending Easter here no matter what happens, and if by any chance they decide your better off with your mother, I will see you whenever I can and whenever you need me”
“If you need anything out of school we are here” smiled Astoria, “And in school Scorpius will always be with you”
“Thankyou” they replied together smiling.

At twenty to nine they headed towards the fire place and stepped into the emerald flames greeted by a wizard at the ministry and headed down stair cases to the courts. There names where called together and with a last glance they stepped into the office of a Miss Lynd and where greeted by three other people who they where told where members of the court who would help decide the ruling.

“So for clarification you are Indigo and Imelda Hathaway of Yates Street”
“Indigo and Imelda Malfoy of Yates Street” smiled Imelda looking at Indie, who was also grinning,
“By that you feel you both belong as Malfoy’s?”
“Yes, Miss Hathaway was our mother till she lied to us” Said Indie
“And what did she lie about?”
“She never told us who our dad was when we asked” replied Mel,
“She told us he never wanted to see us when he did” said Indie
“And she used magic to keep him away; he had never seen us till a few weeks ago” finished Mel,
“Your mother says that she feels you two belong with her and will not be safe with a former death eater”
“Then she couldn’t be more wrong, she’s more dangerous then he is” Said Indie angrily “She tried to make him out to be a bad guy to put us off seeing him, and then when we finally did he’s completely normal and hasn’t been a death eater for over fifteen years”
“I can tell you both are very intelligent and attentive to what’s going on around you but I have to ask who you would prefer to live with”
“Our Dad” they said simultaneously smiling; the woman nodded and looked to the three people sitting behind them as they wrote notes.
“Thankyou Girls would you tell Scorpius Malfoy to come now”
They nodded and left, returning to see only Astoria and Scorpius sitting outside, she replied before they could ask.
“Your Father has to see your mother alone with an official before anything else”
“She wants to see Scorpius now” they smiled at him as he grinned back and knocked before walking in.

Elizabeth walked purposely down the corridor coming face to face with Draco who stood waiting casually outside the door.
“You haven’t won them yet don’t look so smug”
“This isn’t smugness, this is the confidence that your psychotic ways have given me the better hand over you of having my daughters with me rather then you and there teacher”
A tall pale man stepped out of the office and greeted them,
“Draco how nice to see you again, I had know idea you were the father in question’’
Malfoy laughed “Do you not read the files properly Wentworth?”
“I do on occasion, but I am a mediator not a lawyer” he turned to Elizabeth “You must be Miss Hathaway”
“I am, you seem surprisingly friendly with my daughter’s father how do you know him?”
“I worked with him several years ago in the lower offices of the ministry, and have seen him a few times over the years”
“But if you think this is going to affect the case we can always get another to stand in” Draco said as he stared at her and she looked back before walking past them both and into the room, “No this will be fine, shall we get on with it”
They sat around the table and Wentworth spoke up,
“So I take it the girls have lived with you the last thirteen years?”
“Yes” She replied crossing her arms,
“And when did they find out Mr Malfoy was there father?”
“Christmas eve this year”
“I bet they had a happy one then” Draco smirked,
“It was, Jasper came round and we told them about us as well”
“Jasper?” questioned Wentworth,
“The girl’s history of magic professor” replied Draco,
“And my fiancée” she finished.
Wentworth wrote some notes and continued, “So when did you meet them?”
“There birthday, January first”
“Where he broke our agreement for him to see them on the eighth”
“As I’ve told you before, you had not intention of letting me see them then, and they figured it out and arranged to meet me when I was visiting my son to tell him about them”
“Can you explain some more Mr Malfoy?”
“Scorpius, my son, had figured out who they where before I could tell him and had spoken to them arranging for them to meet me when I came to see him and tell him that he had sisters, I hade no idea they would be waiting for me and Elizabeth and Jasper as well”
“You say that now but I bet you arranged the whole thing”
“I hand no hand in the matter, it was of our children’s own doing and obviously there wanting to see me must indicate something to you even if it mean they disown you for using magic to keep me away”
“They have done no such thing”
“I know full well that they have, when was the last letter you received from them Elizabeth”
She looked away, “We’re just having some communication issues”
“Like the fact they don’t want you any where near them, and now even more after that stunt you pulled with the magazine”
“People have a right to know the truth about you”
“Even if it means dragging them into the mess and hurting your own flesh and bloods feelings”
“They’ll be fine once I’ve spoken to them about it”
“You will try and twist it just like you always do, try and convince them im the bad guy but its not going to work. They know you two well you raised them without the slightest idea they were more like me then you ever imagined and now it comes out and just like me they want nothing to do with you after all a little bit of Elizabeth Hathaway will last a life time”

“The custody of Indigo and Imelda Malfoy belongs solely to there father Mr Draco Malfoy, who with the aid of the courts adhere to visiting by there mother on dates yet to be arranged and settled on”
“No, you can’t do this im there mother!”
“It is in this case we do not find you suitable and capable of caring for your daughters on the grounds of psychological damage and breach of the use of magic in dictating the rights of there father, with the intent of keeping him from them against there wishes”
“Thank you, your honour” Draco smiled and turned to his family sitting behind him. They grinned back as there mother broke down in her seat; Indie began to feel sorry for her while Mel’s heart of stone was not to be broken with regards to there mother.

Wow, great post. I'm so glad that Draco won custody. Their mother really is psycho. I wonder what the article that Draco spoke to Pansy about will say especially now that he won custody. Please post again soon, I'm hooked. I need more please!

Chapter 20
Draco’s Illegitimate Daughters: The truth behind the lies

The smiling faces of Draco Malfoy and new additions to the family, Imelda and Indigo look at me in this exclusive interview for Witch Weekly, only two day’s after there mothers article announcing him as there father, and former Death eater. His daughters, aged thirteen, speak to me from the heart telling the compelling story of there mothers spite, revenge and hatred for there father which led her to use magic to keep him away. It was only three hours ago as I write this that Draco Malfoy was given full custody of his two daughters, and to see how happy this family is will warm even the coldest hearts. It is with joy I write that the girls have been accepted with open arms despite there mothers best efforts, which include trying to discredit him through the use of this magazine, and using magic, which is frowned upon in courts, to stop him having access to his children even with his plea’s for her to let him. Elizabeth Hathaway gave no comment to this magazine as she left the court in tears, her fiancée beside her who is also a Professor at the Hogwarts and teaches the twins on a regular basis. She claims from a previous interview, “He abandoned them before they where even born” to which Draco replied he left “Her not them”

Mr Malfoy, looks upon his daughters full of love, his wife and son supportively beside him as they welcome them to there family after such turmoil and deception from there mother. Elizabeth was found to have used a curse which stopped there father from seeing them at all, “Black outlines” as Draco described them, “I couldn’t even to close or she would realise, but I watched them board the train to school there first year, and second as I took our son”

The girls spoke to me next thrilled to finally have a chance to talk. Indigo, also known as Indie, is the oldest of the twins and takes the lead on the conversation though Imelda often finishes her sentences. They have the pale grey eyes of there father and share, as far as I can tell from this interview, some of his traits with regards to personality. They both seem bright and attentive as they speak lovingly about there father and new family.

“It’s just so good to finally have a dad, to know who he is after all these years of not knowing and then to see how great he is makes it better.”
“And that he wanted to be there all along shows us all how our mother deceived and betrayed us, now we know him it’s just an amazing feeling” Draco swiftly looks away from them only for a second a smile playing on his lips wanting to say something but holding back as they continue. “We’ve only known him a little while, but we can see the similarities between us like Indies so calm and patient like he is”
“But you have his fiery side Mel, the temper but with restraint”
“So girls are you looking forward to living and getting to know your father now?” I asked as they looked at one another.
“Yes” answered the both of them together, almost immediately “Can I ask why?”
“He’s our dad” Indigo speaks somewhat defensively but Mel finishes the sentence more openly,
“And he’s nothing like her (Miss Hathaway) so we know it’s going to be great”
“And so Mr Malfoy what’s it like to finally have your daughters?”
“Euphoric, and it’s down to my wife and children”
“Could you elaborate?”
“Astoria first persuaded me to see Elizabeth, after thirteen years of seeing me struggle without them. Im eternally grateful for her love and support” he took her hand in his own smiling as he continues, “And we wouldn’t be here if Scorpius hadn’t figured out who Indie and Mel were and arranged our first meeting”

You can see from the mood of this new found family the dynamics between them run smooth as Scorpius Malfoy speaks up “Im honestly happy about having sisters, I’m looking forward to playing pranks on them and doing all the things a little brother does to his big sister. I never thought I’d have any brothers or sisters and now I have two it’s a bonus” This family is settled and happy no thanks to Miss Hathaway’s attempts to ruining it including by the use of this publication. We are sincerely sorry we published her lies, but are glad to make amends and support the Malfoy’s in there new found happiness. We wish them all the luck in the world and the twins best wishes on there new life with there father and new family.

Great post!! I love the story. I'm so happy that everything has worked out so far but I have a feeling that Elizabeth will try to do something to try to get the girls back or ruin it for Draco. Please post again soon!!
