CHAPTER FIVE: SELLING SOULS

Pansy felt the cool air hit her almost fully exposed body, it was a relief from the sauna. Although heat didn’t leave her completely, she still felt warmth from Ron’s actions. They noticed the rest of the group were out of the pool, all staring out the giant windows into the sky. Ron and Pansy’s eyes soon followed. Wizards on broomsticks were racing towards the house. It was the order, returning. They all scurried out of the pool room, grabbing towels on their way out. They ran towards the front door, following Mrs Weasley. Arthur opened the door, yelling as everyone rushed in. Molly was horrified by the scene.
Hagrid had Lupin in his arms, they were both covered in blood.
“What’s going on!” Molly yelled, “Why didn’t you take him to-”
“St Mungo’s is destroyed.” Arthur told her in a loud voice. Tears started to fall from her eyes as she watched them more closely. The group stared as the order all brought Lupin to another room.
“Get these kids out of here!” Hagrid boomed.
Snape and Sirius were holding everyone back and blocking their view.
“Pansy!” Lupin was yelling with all of his might. Snape let Pansy through. Pansy saw him and shuddered. He was bleeding from his chest, staring up at her, breathing very faintly. All of their faces were filled with worry and depression as the watched her kneel down to the ground beside him.
Pansy leaned into Lupin as he whispered in her ear. She backed up, horror-struck.
“They loved you, Pansy..” Lupin said with his last breath. She stumbled getting up and without warning to anybody, ran out of the room past Snape and Sirius and out the door. Ron watched her.
“Don’t let her leave!” Sirius said, running to the door. The charms on the door were broken by the Order barging in a few minutes earlier. Ron pushed passed Sirius, who pulled out his wand. Mrs. Weasley put a hand on Sirius’ shoulder, stopping him. They both watched as Ron ran after Pansy. He stopped her a few feet from the gate and put his arms around her. She collapsed to the ground, crying. Ron held onto her tight, sitting down with her.
“M-my parents… He… They’re dead!” She cried.
“Pansy.. Shh..” Ron cooed. “It’s going to be alright..” He told her, bringing her up onto his lap.
Pansy didn't fight Ron's embrace. She hid inside his arms, crying.
Everyone peered out at them from inside the house, either surprised at Ron's actions or full of sorrow.
Twenty minutes went by with Ron and Pansy sitting outside in the same spot, not moving or speaking.
The rest of the group were sitting at the table in the large dining area. Hagrid was absent, and Lupin’s body was gone as well. There was no longer any blood on the floor or on any of them. Everyone was looking distressed, and the only ones speaking were Sirius and Arthur.

"You know perfectly well what The Dark Lord meant, Sirius!" Arthur shot at him from across the table. Tensions were rising.
"But even if she gives herself over to him willingly, he'll turn around and secretly go after Harry, and he won‘t stop destroying everything even if he claims to stop." Sirius said.
"He'll go after Harry either way. We have plans and well thought out strategies for that. We haven't planned for this." Arthur said, holding a wine glass with shaky hands.
"What if we can get her to-" Kingsley started.
"No!" Mrs. Weasley cut him off. "I know what you're all thinking. She's too delicate! You can't throw her into the middle of this, given the circumstances!"
Tears hadn't left her face since they returned. They all were in deep mourning over Lupin, and getting angry at each other.
“I suggest we let things cool down tonight, and get back into it in the morning.” Snape perked up.
“Then Voldemort could have taken over half of our minds by then!” Mad Eye Moody eyed him suspiciously.
“We’ll take shifts discussing everything.” Sirius said more as a demand than a suggestion.
Mad Eye Moody stormed out of the room, followed by Snape. It was obviously too much to deal with, even for most of the adults. Dinner was barely touched. Harry, Hermione, and Ginny, along with Fred and George were told to stay in the large living area they had been sleeping the previous nights. They had food there as well, but it wasn’t being eaten. Hermione and Ginny were in tears. Harry had his arm around Hermione and Fred and George were trying to play with a Weasley Product but it wasn’t entertaining them at all.

Ron had convinced Pansy to get up from their spot and take a walk. She felt dizzy as she stood, and walked beside him, heading towards a garden in the front of the house. They walked through the path in between beautiful hedges and flowers. Pansy sat down on a stone bench in the garden, and Ron asked the obviously stupid question, “Are you okay?”
She couldn’t look at him. She was devastated and her sadness was turning into rage.
“You know, nothing makes sense. None of this feels real. First owls fly into my room, with letters that tell me Voldemort has captured my parents because they’ve been going against him for so long, and then your clan shows up saying they’re going to protect me! Voldemort kills my parents and Professor Lupin all because of me! And then there’s you!” She looked up at him, angrily. “You’re acting like you’ve just popped out of a muggle fairy tale or something! You mess with my mind and my feelings! You were way out of line even kissing me, you know that Weasley? Everything you’ve said and done has made no sense! You want to protect me? Ha!” This was the old Pansy Ron had grown up with. Her words didn’t sting him right now, he knew she was being hysterical and lying to herself. She stood up.
“I’ve got to find Draco. Yes, it’s the only solution..” She said outloud to herself, “Maybe they’ll forgive me if I turn myself over to..” She trailed of, trying to run but Ron had his arms around her too fast.
“Pansy, that is not what you want!” He said, holding her as she struggled. “It’s not what your parents would want!” He continued as she started to cry louder.
“Please calm down.” He tried, “I know everything seems horrible right now, but things will get better. We’re all here for you. Especially me. I know I’ve been acting differently, and I’ve figured out what it is.” She stopped and looked at him, tears still in her eyes. “It’s you.” He confessed, “Everything about you. I said I want to protect you, and I mean it. Whatever happens, Pansy I’m right here. I don’t want to be anywhere else.”
“I..I didn’t mean any of it.." She said, apologetically. "Ron, you are honestly the last person I thought would say anything like that to me.” She had stopped fighting him and hugged him once again.
“And you’re the last person I thought I’d be half-naked, holding.” He smirked.
Just then Pansy had realized they were both still in their swimming outfits. She laughed but didn’t let go of him. They were both completely dry and warm. The hot summer night was ending, the sun had gone down an hour ago. The sky was filled with clouds which were still building. The first boom of thunder scared Pansy, she could feel it in her whole body.
Arthur Weasley approached them, he appeared from around a hedge. He had two long coats in his arms. Ron noticed him and nodded to him, his arms still around Pansy.
“Thanks dad.” Ron said. Pansy let go of Ron and turned around. Arthur’s face was weary just like hers. Arthur handed Ron the jackets and put his hand on Pansy’s shoulder. He stared at her a long time, forcing a warm smile.
“You two best come inside soon. It’s going to storm.” He said, looking up at the clouds. He then turned around and left. Ron placed a coat over Pansy’s shoulders and held the other in his arm.
He nodded towards the house.
“Kay..” Pansy said rubbing her eyes and answering him as if he asked her to go inside.
They were met inside the door by Ron’s dad. He began locking the door and placing magical charms on it. Before Ron and Pansy could begin walking towards the living room, Sirius stopped them. He smiled at them best he could.
“If you don’t mind, Pansy, we’d all like to have a word. After you’re more comfortable.” He glanced at her bikini that she so happily wore as an outfit. Without speaking to Sirius, she started up the stairs. Ron and Sirius exchanged a few words that Pansy didn’t hear and Ron was soon behind her.
They entered her room and Pansy went to the bathroom, fixing her hair and changing clothes. Ron looked around her room. It was huge, mostly pink and had flowers on the walls. Her bed was queen size and had a draping pink canopy over it. He laughed at the Slytherin banner across her ceiling, thinking of the two different worlds they come from. He then noticed a slew of moving pictures posted on a mirror of a large vanity. He slowly took a step towards it, taking in the pictures. There were a few of her and Draco, her with Draco and his father at the world cup, the Slytherin Gryffindor team and a picture of her with a group of Slytherin girls at school. Ron had always known she was popular, but fawned over how happy she looked in the photo’s compared to the devastation that had taken over her the past week.
“Snooping?”
Ron jumped and turned around to see Pansy smirking at him with her hands on her hips. She changed into tight fitting black leggings and a long black short sleeved shirt.
“I just was..” He started and then chuckled as she smiled.
“It’s fine. I’ve got nothing to hide.” She said. He noticed she wasn’t crying, and was glad she could actually speak without breaking down. Her face was still full of sorrow as they left the room and headed to the dinning room. Sirius was standing outside, waiting for them.
“Will you come in..?” Pansy whispered,
“Ofcourse,” He whispered back.
“Uh, I’m afraid not.” Sirius said. “Sorry, Ronald. Nothing personal. There are things we must speak strictly to Pansy about.”
“Umm, no.” Pansy said, protesting rudely. “Anything you have to say to me can be said in front of him.”
Snape appeared at the doorway, eyeing Ron, “We’re quite aware of your new love interest, Pansy, might I say your parents would not approve…“
“Don’t you dare mention her parents!” Ron shot at him. Snape’s eyes widened. Sirius gave Ron a warning stare. Snape continued, “However your presence, and yours alone, is requested with the Order. Understand?” He forced.
Pansy turned around, tears in her eyes from Snape mentioning her parents. “It’s okay, Ron.” She told him.
Ron studied her expression, “You sure?”
She nodded. Ron then glared at Snape, bringing Pansy into a light hug. His eyes didn’t leave the fury he was firing at Snape through his glare. He let her go and watched as Sirius and Snape followed her into the room. Snape slammed the door on Ron.
“Pansy, dear!” Before Pansy could see anything, Mrs. Weasley was hugging her.
“Molly..” Arthur said, shaking his head at his wife.
“We feel your pain, Pansy. We’re with you.” She said to her, ignoring Arthur.
Pansy looked down. Mrs. Weasley led her to the table where Snape was just joining everyone else. Sirius stood behind Arthur. Pansy slowly sat in a chair next to Mrs. Weasley, across from her husband.
“Alright, Pansy?” Arthur asked her, searching for something in her eyes. She met his eyes and nodded slowly.
“Difficult times, difficult times in deed. Just so you know, if you need anything at all, you just turn to Molly.” He continued.
“Or any of us, for that matter.” Sirius perked up. “We know you were quite fond of Professor Lupin. He had always said great things about you.”
Pansy smiled at Sirius, remembering how kind and caring Lupin always was to her, even in school.
“Thank you Sirius.” Arthur said, as if to try and shut him up. “Bottom line, you can be open with us.” He sat back and sighed, “Trust me when I tell you we are not here to force you into anything or make you feel any sort of pain. We only want to tell you the truth and get your feedback on our plans.”
Pansy tried to keep a straight face and not cry, she mustered strength to keep up.
“We must inform you of something that happened today with You-Know-Who.”
Molly’s face shot towards Arthur as he spoke. “No!”
“She must know.” Sirius said to Molly. Mrs. Weasley’s hand then ended up on Pansy’s shoulder but she didn’t look at her.

Sirius knelt down beside Arthur and leaned in towards Pansy, “You’re parents fought him bravely. And we did all we could. But now Voldemort insists he is not finished.”
Pansy looked at him, questionable. She swore she felt Mrs. Weasley cringe beside her.
“He said to us that he will not stop destroying things and lives until he has the last of what he wanted.”
“W-what do you mean?” Pansy choked out. She cleared her throat, “What does he want?”
Sirius sighed and looked at Arthur as he leaned forward as well. Arthur opened his mouth.
“You.”

Remus Lupin is one of my favorite characters

But But later we find out that Pansy had a close relationship with Lupin while he was at Hogwarts, and its to show the closeness between them. I can't say too much more... But It's relevant!

CHAPTER SIX: EXCHANGING ENEMIES

Pansy’s eyes opened to reveal the room upside down. She sat up, realizing she had been laying on the floor. Everyone in the room surrounded her. She didn’t even know she fainted. Her ears were fuzzy as Mrs. Weasley helped her stand.
“I told you this was too much for her!” She shot at Arthur.
Pansy held onto a chair and swallowed hard, as everything came back into her view. Sirius handed her a glass of cold water and she sipped it.
“Can I…” Pansy started and sighed, “Go now?”
She still felt horribly dizzy and wanted to run far away.
“One more minute, Pansy.” Sirius said, “We have a plan and need you to on board with this.”
“I’m going to be sick.” She burst out, sitting down. Molly was watching her, distressed. She hated the fact that the order was dumping all of the stressing information on her.
Pansy finished her glass of water and looked at Sirius, ready to listen. He smiled.
“We have a pretty good idea.” He told her, all of them listening intently. “We are going to pretend to hand you over..”
“What?” Pansy questioned.
“Don’t worry. It’s a total sham. He won’t get near you. But we need you to follow us to the ministry and act like you’re giving yourself in.”
Pansy’s head spun. She hated the idea.
“We need you, Pansy. You’re the only way we’re going to get close enough to Voldemort to destroy him.”
“How do you destroy the Dark Lord.” Pansy said sarcastically.
“Harry Potter has been working on it. We all have. We’ll work out the details. We just need you to help us. Trust us.”
Pansy looked around at all of them. With great hesitation she nodded. Arthur clapped his hands together. Pansy stood and turned around to leave. She didn't make it to the door before the room started to spin again.

Ron was situated in a large armchair, barely listening to Harry and Hermione explain to Ginny something about Voldemort. Ron wasn't paying attention to them. They didn't bother to ask Ron what was going on with him and Pansy, or what had happened outside. Ron perked up as he saw Snape enter the room with Pansy in his arms. Ron jumped out of his seat, startled by the scene. He ran to Snape as he was palcing Pansy on a couch.
"What did you-"
"Shut it, Weasley." Snape said, sounding annoyed. "She just fainted."
Snape studied Pansy and noticing she was breathing, he conjured a glass and filled it with water. He set it on the floor and left the room. Ron kneeled beside her.
"Pansy?" He asked quietly. Her eyes didn't flicker, her mouth made no sign of movement. Ron waited, not moving from his position. He watched her breathe as she was in her deep sleep.
Ginny moved to a closer couch, facing Ron.
"You know you're acting mental, right?"
Ron ignored her and continued to stare at Pansy.
Ginny continued, "There is no way you are thinking straight. Now I know we've all been thinking this, and nobody has the guts to confront you about it but... Why the bloody hell are you all over her?"
"Ginny." Ron sighed, his temper rising. "Let it go, you don't understand."
"I think what Ginny means is.." Hermione said, getting up from her spot and joining Ginny on the couch, confronting Ron. "Why are you acting so different? You won't even say a word to any of us, you just wait around for her. I mean, we're all happy for you, I think. It's just weird, Ron."
"You think?" Ron turned around to look at everyone, who was staring at him. "What's that supposed to mean?" He eyed Harry, wondering if he thought he was acting weird to.
"You do know, that underneath everything, she's still..." Ginny trailed off.
Ron waitied for her to answer, his expression angry.
"People just don't change over night." Hermione said plainly. Ginny nodded.
"What! You were talking to her earlier. If I didn't know better, I would have called you both friends with her." Ron spat at them.
"We've been thinking." Ginny said.
"Sh." Ron turned back to Pansy as he noticed her body shift. He looked at her, worried. He then sighed.
"It's probably not a good thing to get caught up in everything that's going on." Hermione pressed on, "Especially with the Dark Lord. She's a target. We're just scared for you."
"Hermione, you and Harry both know what danger we're in with Voldemort anyway!" Ron's voice was rising. He had hope that Pansy would wake up so they would stop bothering him.
"This is different." Harry whispered. "We think that because Voldemort was after her parents, he'll probably be after her as well. So the plans with us, plus being invoved with her.. Well, you're pretty much handing yourself over to Voldemort."
Ron was now silent.
"Do you even remember what she was like to us? Draco?" Hermione whined.
"Do you guys realize how different she has been! Something has changed inside of her, and it's changing me!"
Hermione stood, as did Harry. "Ron." Hermione whimpered, "You're putting someone you used to hate, who you don't even know... You're putting her before your best friends."
Ron stood slowly and faced them.
"You don't know how pathetic you two sound. I can't believe you're acting this way. Look at her. She is not who we remember. I, for one, am willing to put everything bad behind us and accept her as a friend. As someone I want to grow to know very well."
Ron's mind was buzzing around how everyone was feeling. He saw Fred and George leave the room because he was yelling. It was obivous that none of them could trust Pansy. They all seemed to forget what she has done for them in the past little while.

"I don't know you anymore." Ron said to them through gritted teeth to Harry and Hermione. "Some friends you are."
"Ron, don't say that." Hermione said.
"Get out." Ron whispered.
"We're only telling you what's best-" Harry tried.
"Get out!" Ron yelled at them. His hands balled into fists. Harry and Hermione shuddered at Ron's loud voice. They stared at him. Ginny got up and left in a hurry.
Harry and Hermione's eyes shifted towards the couch behind Ron.
Pansy was sitting up, wide eyed, staring at them.
Hermione's eyes were teary. Harry pulled her by the hand and they left the room.
Ron slowly turned around to see Pansy awake.
"What.. happened?" She whispered, scared that Ron was yelling.
Ron forced a smile as he kneeled back down. "Nothing, Pansy. They're being complete idiots."
"I hope you weren't fighting because of me." She said in a light airy voice.
"Don't be silly." He tried to calm her down. He then sat on the couch and grabbed her shoulders lightly pulling her down so her head was laying on his lap. She giggled, looking up at him.
"If the old Ron Weasley could see you now, you'd be in trouble." She teased him.
He looked down at her, smirking. "I like the new me, don't you?"
Her eyes beamed at him as the butterflies lingered in her stomach. She nodded.

They remained on the couch as Ron asked her what went on with the order. Pansy explained as best she could and explained her fears about Voldemort. She connected with Ron and he felt close to her and happy, despite what his so-called friends were saying earlier. He didn't listen to a thing they said. Pansy was apart of him now and he wasn't letting her out of his grasp.

Great post!! Harry and Hermione were a little unreasonable but also they have a point. If Pansy were to be kidnapped or killed then Ron would be heartbroken. They are thinking the best for him.

I absolutely love the new Ron and Pansy characters and how Ron finally has a character fit to be called a man. Who knew the wimp was really a man with love, generosity and giving in his heart. I also love the emerging character in Pansy. Who new such a clingy girl could have such deep feelings?

I was shocked to see Hermione and Harry together, but if truth be told, I always thought they'd be a better match. I can't help but feel sorry for Ginny though... she's one of my favourite charries and also deserves the love of her life.

I was sad to see Lupin die... but I guess it was necessary?

Lastly, I love your tender scenes of love between Ron and Pansy. You don't go overboard or get overly obscene. It is pure, simple, sweet and heart-felt.

You are a great writer, Jenna. Congratulations and keep up the excellent work. Tomorrow, I will begin reading your other Fan Fiction. Oh! I forgot to mention it, but I loved your story banner as well!

Thanks for reading and loving my characters!! Don't worry about Ginny, her heart gets to fly much later in the story. Gotta wait and seeeee!
Lupin.. Yes.. It's sad. I know. I had two different versions of this story, and I hated to do it.. but again, Pansy's relationship with Lupin gets explained deeper later and it was needed.
