Sylvia sat up in her bed. Today was the day of what she saw was coming true. Great. She quickly jumped out of bed and pulled on her little dressing gown, she didn't know how she was going to do it, but she was going to attempt to get to her mother's house before she left. Sylvia's little legs ran faster than normal as she sprinted down the lane and into Lacock. She knew her father would go in her room to wake her up, and she wouldn't be there, oh. She clutched the strings of her dressing gown as she kept running, she had a funny feeling sshe was going to be late.

Sylvia could see her mother's small house in the distance. Getting excited, she ran even faster than her little legs could, causing her to go a little off balance. She panted, and slowed down slightly. She jogged the rest of the way, reaching the door and knocked. Nothing. She knocked harder, but still nothing. Then she tried the door handle, the door was unlocked. That wasn't a good sign. She quickly got herself inside the house.
"Mummy?" She called through the hall ways, finally reaching the living room. The sofa was gone, the small arm chair that Sylvia had sat in was gone, decorations, ornaments, gone.
She'd left, just like in Sylvia's dream like vision.

Upset, lost, and lonely, Sylvia sat on the floor and crossed her legs. Every child needed their mummy, and her mummy was a coward, and had left her. She felt a tear trickle down her cheek, her eyes began to swell. Why was her mummy so frightened of her family? It was HER family! This was all too much for Sylvia's eight year old mind to understand, this is why she needed Miles, her older brother, to guide her through life until she could figure it out herself. Miles sat down beside her, already dressed, and sympathetic.
"You saw this?" Sylvia merely nodded, not daring to look at him. He sighed and picked her up into his arms. "We don't need her." He smiled, "YOU don't need her. You've got me .." Miles kissed her lightly on the cheek. "And dad ... occasionally." Sylvia giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "But .. everyone needs a mummy." She whispered. Miles shook his head.
"Naaah. Who wants a mother who runs away all the time?" He walked out the door and closed it, he was hoping she wouldn't come back. They didn't need Ophelia. They had each other, and Vincent ... when he wasn't working or being a moody girl.
