Chapter 1

A noise in the living room jarred a young man awake. He sat up quickly and looked over to his wife who was sleeping soundlessly next to him. She had had a long day. He didn’t blame her for being so tired. Not wanting to disturb her, Benny Edwards climbed out of the queen-sized bed and tiptoed out of the room.

It was dark in his parent’s hallway, but what did he expect? Everybody had to be asleep still. Yes he still lived at home and yes he had a wife. But after being away from his family for five years, it was nice to be seeing them everyday in the morning. Mona, his wife, didn’t mind staying in the house with his parents and his younger siblings; minus Samantha, who had moved to Greece shortly after graduation.

It was the year 2071, March to be exact. It was chilly outside, but Benny was still found wearing shorts and bare foot. The cool wooden floor hit against his feet as he made his way toward the living room. That is where he had heard the sound.

As he got into the room, he realized he couldn’t see anything because it was so dark. But he still heard the sound. It was a gentle tapping. This wasn’t the sound that had woken him, it was a bigger sound and he was surprised nobody else had woken up. Making his way over to a lamp, he quietly switched it on and what he found made him take a step back.

“Sammy?” he said slowly, confused. She looked a mess. Her hair was thrown up in an untidy ponytail and it looked like the clothes she was wearing she had been wearing for days. She was sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall, rocking back and forward, every once in awhile hitting her head against the wall; making the gentle tapping sound. Her eyes were red and she was biting her lip so hard it was turning a dark pink. She looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown.

When his sister didn’t say anything, Benny walked over to her and slowly eased himself on the ground next to her. They didn’t say anything to each other, and Benny didn’t tell her to stop hitting her head, even though it was putting him on edge for many different reasons. For one, it was surely going to wake somebody up and waking anybody up didn’t seem like a good idea at the moment. Two, the scar on his head made him jumpy when people hit their head. But he didn’t say anything to her. He’s known Samantha long enough not to say anything to her when she was upset. Best to keep quiet until she cooled off.

“I-” She started to say and whimpered next to him.

Benny looked over at her and placed his hand on her leg. “Sammy. Are you ok?” he asked softy.

She looked over at him and Benny caught the sorrow in her chocolate brown eyes. It frightened him, but he kept his cool. Something happened to make her like this and he didn’t like it one bit.

Samantha sniffed and with a trembling lip, uttered, “Milo’s gone.”

Milo was a Greek boy she had met one summer while she was staying with their grandparents. Benny didn’t know much about him. Nobody did. All Benny knew was he lived with his grandparents before he came of age. When Sammy described him a couple of years ago, she had said he was smart, charming, and had the cutest smile. One thing Benny did know was, when Samantha moved out of the house to go live with their grandparents, it was also to be closer with Milo.

“What do you mean gone?” Benny asked in a calm tone. Many questions started shooting through his head, but the main one was, Milo left Samantha and she was heartbroken about it.

“He…They…He’s gone.” Samantha said, beginning to rock harder.

Being so intuitive, Benny caught the main word in that chopped up sentence. “They? Who are they Sammy?”

Samantha looked away from him then and stood up. Benny watched her from the ground and more questions began floating in his head. Who was “They?” What did they have to do with Milo?

“I…they are Milo’s parents.” Samantha answered, her back to him.

Benny stood up and blinked a few times. “Milo’s parents? I thought they were dead.”

She turned around to face him and looked up into his eyes, ready to tell her story. “I thought so too.”

Ok so this is about my current character in the future. The story is going to alternate between Benny (her older brother) and Sammy (my character). Just so you know. Sammy's point of view is always in the past (until later in the story ;)) and Benny is the future.

Hope you like ^_^

Chapter 2

“Are you sure you want to go? Because nobody will judge you if you don’t go. Really.” Sam rolled her eyes at her mother but had a smile on her lips.

“Yes mum. I want to go.” She said as she set her suitcase down on the floor in the living room.

“Ok. But know that home is here and always open for you. Don’t ever think it’s a bad time to drop by. If you need anything-”

“Relax Silv. It’s not like she is moving into an empty house all by herself. She is going to be with my parents.” Leo said, placing a loving hand on his wife’s shoulder.

“I know but I don’t want her to think she isn’t welcomed to come home.” Silvia said, folding her arms as if she suddenly got cold.

“Its not like I’m moving to Canada. Its only Greece. Not so far. I will visit as much as I can.” Sam said and pulled her mother into a hug. Silvia hung onto her daughter as if it was the last time she was ever going to see her again. She only let go when two four year olds came running from out the hallway.

They saw the two hugging and ran straight for Sam’s legs, one on each side. Sam chuckled, “I’m gonna miss you two.”

“Sammy leaving now?” Ethan asked. His hair was getting so long. Sandy brown strings of hair hung in his hazel colored eyes, but he didn’t seem to care. The twins were the only ones who didn’t share the chocolate brown eyes of their older siblings.

“Yeah, if mum ever lets me go.” She said with a lightheartedly smile. The twins giggled and hugged their older sister.

“Bye Sammy!”

“ We love yous!”

You Ethan. Not yous.” Silvia said automatically. Everybody turned to look at her and she said, “What?” Everybody began to laugh at this and the twins were off running again.

“Ok, I’m leaving now.” Sam announced. She walked to her father and hugged him good-bye. After she let go, she turned to her mother, who was beginning to tear up.

“Ah mum don’t cry.” Sam frowned.

“I’m sorry. I’m just a little emotional right now. Danny left for Hogwarts yesterday. You’re going to Greece. I won’t be surprised if the twins want to leave too.” Sam noted how her mother didn’t mention how Benny was still in a coma.

“Mum. Don’t be like this. I love you but I need to start my life.” She said trying to make her mother understand.

“Yes. I know. You have grown up so much Samantha. You know how much I love you.” Silvia said and pulled her daughter into another tight hug. Sam squeezed her before letting go.

Grabbing her suitcases, Sam turned to smile at both her parents. They smiled back at her, and Silvia laid her head on her husband’s chest.

“Bye! I love you two.” Sam said as she readied herself for apparation.

“You better visit for Christmas.” Silvia was able to slip in.

“Mum!” Sam scowled.

“Fine. Fine. I’m done. Good bye Samantha.” Silvia smiled.

Sam got one last look before leaving her home she has known for seventeen years. Then she turned on the spot.

Chapter 3

“So this was before I came out of my coma?” Benny held in the shiver that always seemed to come with the word “coma.”

“Yeah, just a few months actually.” Samantha answered, with a light smile.

They both sat at the kitchen table, drinking hot chocolate. Benny watched as she held on tightly to her cup. Samantha was still pretty tense up. She didn’t look so whacked out anymore. But she still looked fragile.

“Why are you starting from there?” Benny asked curiously.

“I’m starting from the beginning. And when I say beginning I mean beginning.” She explained, taking a quick, nervous drink from her mug.

“Yeah you do.” Benny chortled.

“When I got to Greece, I had dinner with Gram and Bapi.” She said, continuing her story.

“Did it go well?” What else was he suppose to say? He didn’t know his grandparents as well as the others. It made him feel guilty sometimes. But then again it wasn’t really his fault that he wasn’t around to visit them.

“Yes, Bapi is awesome.” Samantha smiled. “They were excited when I arrived and Gram showed me my room, which had a beautiful view of he city. I didn’t see Milo that night like I planned to. I spent time with Gram and Bapi.”

“You were going to visit him as soon as you got there?” Benny asked.

“Yeah. He didn’t believe that I was moving out to Greece. I was going to show him that I was telling the truth, but decided against it as they started telling me about how it is to live with them. Bapi snores like a bear.” Benny cracked a smile as he watched Samantha hold in some giggles.

“So when did you see him?”

“The next day.” Samantha said, looking distant, as if she was reliving the moment.

“Were the two of you a couple by then?”

“No. We were just friends. He was sort of a pen pal. I was going to Hogwarts and he was in Greece, so we just wrote back and forward to each other. On the day that I decided I was going to leave home and go live in Greece, I wrote him to see what he would say. He didn’t believe that I would leave my home to come to Greece.” Samantha said. She was looking down at her mug, thinking hard.

“Did he know you liked him then?” He wondered allowed.

“No. I don’t think so. We were just friends. I don’t even think I realized I liked him.”

“So you’re in Greece the next day. What happened?”

“It all started that day.” Samantha said mysteriously.

“What happened?”

“Everything.”

Chapter 4

“I’m gonna take a walk around the city. Get to know the place.” Sam announced over breakfast.

“Ok dear. But you watch out for them pesky salesmen who always try to sell you fish.” Gram said. Sam chuckled and gave her a hug.

She then headed up the stairs and went into her room. Slipping on a pair of navy blue sandals, she looked over her appearance in the long mirror that hung behind her door. She was wearing a plain blue spaghetti strap with jeans. Normally, Sam would never wear sandals, but it just felt right to wear them today. After smoothing down her hair and grabbing her earth colored book bag, she made her way back down the stairs and out the door.

The day was beautiful. There was no other way to describe it. The sun was high without a single cloud in the cobalt sky. All the color seemed to be enhanced and Sam could never get tired of that salty seawater smell. The city was alive with energy. People rode their bikes and yelled hello to their neighbors in Greek. Sam had to admit the first time she saw a donkey she giggled, but now she was getting use to the concept that the people used them here for transportation.

As she made her way toward the beach, Sam couldn’t help but smile to herself. She was finally starting her life. It scared her a little, but she was more excited than anything. When the golden-brown sand came into view, she slipped off her sandals and put them into her bag. On one side of the beach, there were these high rocks. This is where she averted her direction to. Climbing up onto one of the smaller rocks, Sam made herself comfortable and looked out into the ocean.

The gentle sound of the waves crashing was putting her into a trance. It was too exquisite to not be magical. How could nature be that stunning?

Milo noticed Sam before she noticed him. She was too distracted, listening to the soothing sound of the waves that she didn’t hear him walk up.

“Samantha?” his Greek accent gave him away. Sam usually hated when people called her by her full name. But for some reason it gave her chills when he said it.

“I told you I was moving here.” Sam said with a playfully smile and stretched out on her rock.

“Why would you want to move here?” he asked with curious honey colored eyes.

“When I came here last summer I fell in love.” When she saw his eyes widen slightly, she realized what she said and attempted to fix it. “With the City I mean. I’m part Greek and I know nothing about traditions here or customs. I’ve come to study the Greek culture.”

“You left England, all your family, so you could learn about Greek culture?” Milo asked skeptically.

His tone was making her feel stupid. Luckily she didn’t have Danny’s pale skin tone, because she would be blushing like mad right now. “Yeah. Why does that seem so weird?”

“No reason. I guess I’m so used to Greece that I don’t even realize we have such an interesting culture.” Milo answered.

“So does that mean you’re glad I came?” Sam asked shyly.

Milo looked at her and stayed quiet. For a second, she panicked. Her heart would truly break if he said no. And that made her feel pathetic.

“I am glad you came. Now I can talk to you face to face instead of through a letter.” Milo smiled at her.

“Is that a good thing?” Sam asked sarcastically.

“It could be.” Milo said and moved closer to her.

Her heart stopped for a fraction of a second as he sat down next to her. How could a boy make her feel this way?

“So who are you staying with? Your grandparents?” Milo asked.

“Yeah. They took me in. Gram likes to make a big deal out of everything and had this big dinner for me last night.” Sam said. She smiled as he chuckled at her. “So how’s life with your grandparents?”

“Well Papi died just a few weeks ago. So it’s been kind of lifeless there.”

“I’m so sorry Milo. You should have said something.” Sam said, sympathy streaming from her eyes.

“Thanks Samantha. But there was nothing anybody could do. He was just there then not.”

“How…did it happen?” she asked slowly.

“I don’t really feel like talking about it. Want to go for a swim?” Milo said slipping off the rock.

“I don’t have a bathing suit.” Sam said. She should have worn it under!

“So?” Milo said, a charming smile playing on his face.

“So, how else would I get in?” Sam chuckled.

“Just get in.” Milo laughed.

“I’m wearing clothes!”

“So am I.”

“I don’t think you get the concept of a swim suit and regular clothes.”

“You can teach me later. Now come on.” Milo said and walked toward her as if he was going to pull her in himself if she didn’t come.

“Really. How am I gonna get in?”

Milo said nothing but rolled his eyes. Then he picked her up and began walking toward the water.

“Milo! What are you doing! No!” Sam said squirming in his arms. But he didn’t let her go. As the water came closer and closer, she couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh.

“Seriously Milo. I can’t go in my clothes.” He kicked off his sandals before he got to the edge than began running toward the rushing water. Before Sam could get away, Milo fell sideways in, bringing her down with him. Cold water seeped into her clothes as she fell in. She jumped up and gasped as her head broke the surface.

The first thing she spotted was Milo laughing a few feet away from her. He was soaked from head to toe but he didn’t seem to care. Sam scowled and slowly made her way toward him. When she was close enough to touch him, she reached her arm back and splashed him.

“I’m wet now!” She cried out.

“Yeah that’s why they call it water.” Milo laughed. Sam couldn’t help but laugh too and splashed him again.

Chapter 5

“So he didn’t tell you how his Bapi died? Didn’t you find that strange?”

“I don’t ask personally questions Ben. Especially when it’s a family member who just died.” Samantha replied, squeezing her mug stressfully.

“So did you ever find out how he died?”

“No. His Bapi never got brought up again. But now I begin to wonder…”

“Wonder what?”

“If the same thing happened to him as everybody else.” She said quietly.

“What happened to everybody else?”

The response to this question was not a simple answer. Instead, Samantha began to tear up and she ducked her head, hiding her face. Benny waited for his sister to get under control again. It frightened him slightly to see her almost lose it at this question. What could have happened to Milo’s Bapi to make Samantha break down like this?

Looking for a way to distract her, Benny asked instead, “What did Gram and Bapi say when you came back soaking wet?”

Samantha snorted and wiped at her damp eyes. “Gram began fussing over me, saying I was going to catch the “pneumonia.” Bapi found it hilarious that a boy threw me in.”

“Dad would of found that funny too.” Benny chuckled.

“Yeah he would of.” Samantha smiled. “The days began to turn into weeks and the weeks turned into months. I told Milo I was coming back home to visit for the holidays and he told me to be careful on the trip over. I came home the day before Danny’s birthday. Then he asked me to take him to the hospital for his birthday present. Mum would of flipped if you hadn’t come out of the coma like that.”

“Why?” Benny was curious. Nobody really talked about what it was like when he was in his coma. So the curiosity got the better of him.

“Mum wouldn’t let him see you while you were in the hospital. I wasn’t supposed to take him, but he wanted it for his birthday.”

“Why wouldn’t mum let him see me?” Benny didn’t know what to make of this. He was a little upset that his mum banned his little brother from seeing him.

“After your accident, Danny kind of went mute on us. He wouldn’t talk to anybody. Mum sent him to counseling and everything but nobody got him to talk. He only talked to Jae and me for a long time. But even then he never said a lot. Your accident affected him more than you know.” She said slowly.

Benny looked away, ashamed. It was his fault that Danny was like that. If he had been paying attention that day, none of that would of happened.

“I know what your thinking. But if you don’t stop, I will hit you.” Samantha said seriously.

Benny turned back to her and found her staring hard at him. “What am I thinking?”

“You were thinking that was all your fault. It wasn’t your fault. And if you ever think it was your fault you went into a coma, so help me Benny.”

“Ok, ok!” Benny chuckled. He loved how feisty his sister could be sometimes. “So back to your story. You went back to Greece a few months later didn’t you?”

“Well yeah. I sent an owl to Gram and Milo the day you came…back. I told them both I would be staying awhile to be with you. Milo sent back an owl the same night and told me he was going to come. He found a hotel to stay in and was there for me in ways he didn’t even know.” Samantha said.

“He stayed out here until January with you?”

“No. He only stayed out here for two weeks, but we grew even closer. I knew so much about him, and he knew even more about me. I’ve never been so connected to somebody before.”

“Were you in love with him?”

”Not just yet. But I was close enough.”

Chapter 6

“Its so good to see you back in my home, Samantha.” Gram said as she released her granddaughter from a tight hug. Sam smiled at her.

“I’m glad to be back.” Sam replied sitting with her feet on the couch.

“How is Benny?” Gram asked.

“He’s doing good. He is stable, didn’t suffer from any memory loss and is going through physical therapy.” Sam answered happily.

“What does he need the physical therapy for?” Bapi asked.

“Well, he hasn’t used his legs or arms for about five years. He has to get used to using them again. The physical therapy is to help him un-stiff his body.” Sam explained.

“Hmm, I never thought of it that way.” Bapi replied, rubbing his balding head.

“Are you hungry Samantha? I’m just about to make Gyro.” Gram said, her beady black eyes full of warmth.

Even though Sam was curious as ever to know what Gyro was, she said, “I’m not really that hungry. I’m going to go take a walk.”

“It’s getting dark, so take that stick you use.” Gram said, meaning her wand. Both her grandparents were muggles. Her dad was a muggleborn wizard, so they were used to little magic in the house. They both accepted her dad and his family for what they are and never judged. If anything, Bapi found it very exciting and was always getting her dad to make flowers appear out of thin air.

Sam chuckled and nodded her head. “I will. I’ll be back before it gets too late.”

She picked up a sweater before she left and walked outside. It was chilly outside, but not too cold. A gentle breeze weaved through her hair and made her shirt sway. Walking to the rocks by the beach, she turned as she heard footsteps behind her.

“I figured you would come here tonight.” Milo said. Sam gave him a soft smile and they walked to the rocks together in silence.

When they got to the rocks, Sam climbed onto the one she sat on the first day she had arrived in Greece. Milo climbed up onto the rock next to her and they watched the water. The moon had a delicate glow on the water’s surface and the breeze made the water ripple serenely.

“I missed you while you were away.” Milo said quietly.

Sam turned to look at him and said, “I missed you too. Its not the same being in England where you cant just throw me into the ocean.”

They both laughed and looked back at the water.

“Did you know they call this Eros Rock?” Milo said after a moment of silence.

“Really?”

“Yeah. The surfers say they can see a heart in the rocks when they are far out in the water.”

“That’s cool.” Sam said.

Sam looked into his honey colored eyes and watched as he inched closer. Her heart began to beat uncontrollable and it felt like the world was slowing down. When his lips finally met hers, electricity shot up and down her spine. She felt his hand running through her hair tenderly, bringing more electric bolts. When he moved his head away, he scanned her face, trying to see if she was upset that he had just kissed her. But Sam was in no way upset. She was on cloud nine.

“I’m sorry. Its just, I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time.” Milo said shyly. Sam had never seen Milo blush before. He was always so confident. It made her heart melt even more.

“Don’t be sorry. It was a very good kiss.” She smiled. He smiled back at her and leaned in for another one.

Chapter 7

“So he kissed you.” Benny repeated.

“Yeah. My first kiss was on the beach. How romantic right?”

“Actually it sounds kind of girly.” Benny teased.

She scowled at him and said, “Hey don’t ruin it for me. He was very sweet. And his lips are so soft.”

“Ok, ok. I don’t really want to hear about how my little sister kissing. Keep going.” Benny said, throwing his hands up in the air over-dramatically.

“Well after that night, I began spending a lot of time at Milo’s house. His Gram was rarely home and he never talked about any siblings, so I thought he was an only child.”

“But he wasn’t?”

“Nope. I didn’t meet Matt until the third day I went over. He walked in on Milo kissing me…” she said, beginning to blush.

“Matt is his brother? That doesn’t sound Greek.” Benny said, bypassing the awkward image of Samantha getting caught kissing by another guy. Yeah she was nineteen, almost twenty years old, but Benny still saw her as that little girl who played quidditch in the backyard.

“His full name is Matthaios, but he goes by Matt.” Samantha replied.

“So how does he fit into the picture?”

“Matt is Milo’s older brother. By like three years I think. He, gave me advice once.”

“Did you listen to him?”

“Not really.”

Chapter 8

Sam couldn’t help but laugh out loud as Milo flinched a foot high and almost fell off the couch. It looked like he had just seen a ghost, as the front door opened.

“What were you two doing?” a twentyish looking man asked with a smirk on his lips. He had the same color hair as Milo and the same long, silky face. He had his hair stringy and waving in front of his eyes.

“Nothing Matthaios. Now go away.” Milo scowled.

“Hey don’t get mad at me because you were caught with a beautiful girl on the couch, doing what I suspect would make her mother blush.” Matt replied smoothly. Sam began to turn a beat red and she looked away from both of them.

She stood up from off the couch and said, “We were just talking.”

“Yeah, we all were.” Matt said with a wink. He then looked at Milo. “You need to go pick up Gram.”

“You can’t do it?” Milo whined.

“No. It’s your turn. Don’t keep her waiting. It’s dark and you know what kind of people are out there.” Matt said seriously, and walked into his room, shutting the door behind him.

Milo turned to Sam and looked at her. She could tell he was thinking hard about something, but she couldn’t tell what. So she had no idea what to say. Maybe it was time to get back home.

“I’ll just come by tomorrow.” Sam said, trying to help. She had never met Milo’s grandmother. In fact, today was the day she first laid eyes on Matt.

“No. I don’t want you to go yet.” Milo said, stepping toward her. He then ran his hand nervously through his hair and looked toward Matt’s closed door. Then he turned back to her, as if he was making up his mind. “Can you…”

“You want me to wait for you?” A smile threatening to take over her face.

“I won’t be long. I promise.” He said and kissed her on the cheek. With a gentle pop, he was gone.

Sam walked over to the couch and sat back down, just as a door opened. She looked over and saw Matt walk back out from his room. He had something in his eyes that she couldn’t read. Anger? Fear? Hate? Sorrow? What was it?

“Figures Milo would ask you to stay.” Matt mumbled to himself, rolling his eyes.

“Do you want me to go?” Sam asked embarrassed.

“No. Stay. Lets meet.” He said with a sarcastic smile. He walked over and sat on the other side of the couch. “My name is Matthaios, Milo’s older brother. And who should you be, Brown eyes?”

“I’m Sam Edwards. A friend of Milo’s.” For some reason Matt made her feel really shy. She was never this bashful, but she could feel her cheeks begin to warm as he watched her with those same unreadable eyes. Why was he looking at her like that?

“A friend, I see. Maybe a little bit more than friends, don’t you think?” he asked with a chuckle. Sam chortled nervously with him and nodded.

He ceased laughing, and looked at her as if he was looking into her soul, then said, “He’s the boy your mother warned you about.”

“What do you mean?”

“What I mean is, you should stay away from him.”

“Why?”

“Because he is nothing but trouble.”

“You’re just saying that!” Sam said franticly.

“Ok don’t believe me. But when something bad happens don’t say I didn’t warn you.” He said seriously.

The sound of a pop announced Milo was back. But neither of them moved. Sam was looking deeply into his light eyes, with anger she couldn’t describe. What was his problem? He didn’t even know her and he was trying to get her to stay away from Milo? And what did he mean Milo was trouble?

“Has he told you what happened to our parents?” Matt asked suddenly, his voice low, but a little more rapidly.

“No.” Sam replied, annoyed.

“What about Kali?”

“No. What does it matter?” she asked, irritated.

“It matters a whole lot. You should ask him sometime.” Matt said, his eyes darkening.

“Matthaios.” They both turned their eyes from each other, to see Milo looking at them angrily.

A lazy smile spread on Matt’s face and he stood up. “Was just meeting your beautiful new girlfriend. She sounds like somebody familiar, don’t you think?”

Milo’s eyes widened with alarm, then tightened with exasperation. He said something harshly in Greek that Sam didn’t understand. Matt shook his head and chuckled. “Whatever you say Milo. But remember Kali’s words.”

“Shut up Matt!” Milo snarled out of frustration.

Matt put his hands up in mock surrender and gave Milo a look as if to say “You know what I’m talking about and you know I’m right.” Then he left the room.

Chapter 9

“What did you do after that?” Benny asked all his attention on Samantha now. This conversation didn’t sound great and it seemed like it was starting to get to the point of the story.

“I got scared. I told Milo I had to go. He looked sad to see me go, but I was freaked out.” Samantha said, her hands beginning to shake. She caught herself though, and placed them in her lap.

“That’s understandable. Matt seems like a dark person.” Benny observed.

“He is actually not always like that. He is really the joker of the family. I didn’t know that at the time though.”

“So he was just messing with you when he said Milo was trouble?”

“No. He was being serious then. Probably for once in his life.” Samantha chortled.

“Ok, you lost me. What did Matt mean?”

“He was just warning me. I see that now. But then, I didn’t know what to make of it. I went back to the house and sat up all night thinking. I didn’t know what to do next. I didn’t know who to trust. I was starting to lose it.” Samantha sighed.

Benny watched her and wished he could have helped her. He hated seeing her this vulnerable. But what could he do?

“I probably would of come home the next day if it weren’t for Bapi.” Samantha said with a small smile.

“What did he do?” Benny asked.

“He bought me a house for my birthday.” Her smile growing bigger.

“He bought you a house?”

“Yeah. It was a tiny little thing that was just outside of town, but I loved it. He said it was because I was now a lady. Even though I was already of age for like a year.” She snorted. “He said he bought it for me so I could have my own space, which a growing lady needs. I couldn’t believe he would do that for me. So I stayed in Greece.”

“You’re spoiled.” Benny teased.

“Shut up.” Samantha laughed. “It took me a few weeks, but I was finally moved in. I had a place that I could call my own. It was about a half an hour drive to Gram and Bapi’s house, but I was content.”

“You didn’t speak to Milo at all while you were moving in?”

“He didn’t even know I was moving. I didn’t tell him.” She said, biting her lip. “I didn’t speak to him for like four months, until I found out he was going to Gram and Bapi’s house looking for me.”

“They didn’t tell him where you moved?” Benny asked.

“They told him I moved, but they didn’t feel it was their business to tell him where. When I went over for Christmas, they told me a boy kept coming to see me. I knew it was Milo, but I was still a little freaked about that day.”

“What did you do then?”

“I had to talk to him.”

“What did you tell him?”

Samantha sighed and looked out the window. “I told him to stop bugging Gram and Bapi.”

“What about you?”

“He wasn’t done with me apparently.” She smiled lightly.

Chapter 10

Sam waited by Eros Rock, knowing he would come as soon as he got her letter. She wrapped her sweater around her a little tighter as a gentle breeze threatened to knock her over from her anxiety. She looked out into the ocean, as if there were answers to her questions written on its silky surface. Of course, there wasn’t. So she began to plan what she was going to say.

Before she could even think one word, a gentle pop came from the right. She looked over to the sound, and found Milo standing where he just apparated, looking at her as if she wasn’t real. He had his hands stuffed in his pocket, and his hair was in disarray. He looked happy to see her, yet scared at the same time.

“Samantha…”

“I just came to tell you to stop bugging my grandparents.” She said and made her way to leave.

“Samantha wait. I…” Milo said, quickly moving to her side.

She stopped and turned to look at him. Many emotions began to shoot through her at that moment, that she didn’t want to come. His eyes reflected the hurt and sadness that was in her heart. She didn’t want to feel this way. She had said to herself that she wasn’t going to see Milo anymore. She couldn’t really explain why she came to this conclusion, just knew that she needed to stick with it.

“I don’t live with my grandparents anymore, so please don’t bother them anymore.” Sam said, trying to hold in the urge to wrap her arms around him.

“I’m sorry.” He said softly.

She didn’t expect him to say this and it confused her. “For what?”

“For everything. I shouldn’t have kept you in the dark like that.”

“What do you mean?” she asked, even more confused.

“I want to tell you everything. But…” He looked down ashamed.

“But what?”

“I don’t know how.” He admitted, slowly meeting her eye. She looked at him, searching his face for any sign of him lying. He looked like he was being genuine, but she was still skeptical.

Finally she gave in. She wasn’t sure if it was because she decided she could trust him or if it was her curiosity that made her cave. “You can tell me anything, you know. I’ve told you things about my family that other people don’t know. You can do it too. I won’t judge you.”

“I don’t think the fact that you were there to witness your brother go into a coma, or a cousin being kidnapped really measures up to what I have to say.” He chuckled nervously.

Sam took this the wrong way and decided he wasn’t worth all these secrets. She turned away from him and began to walk away.

“Samantha! I didn’t mean it that way. I’m sorry!” Milo said, grabbing her arm.

“Let go Milo.” She said through gritted teeth.

“No. You said you would listen. You also said you wouldn’t judge.” He said turning her to face him.

“That was before you found it funny how my brother was in a coma or how my cousin was kidnapped.” Sam snapped.

Milo gulped and let go of her arm. He ran his hand through his hair uneasily and said, “This is why I didn’t want to tell you.”

Sam said nothing but watched him. He looked so vulnerable. He looked like a small boy, a boy that was scared of the monster in his closet. His hazel eyes were wide and glazed. She didn’t know what to make of him. All her desires to leave disappeared as he looked back into her eyes. She took a step back at the sight of his expression. His eyes reflected fear; fear for losing her.

“I…I’m sorry. You can tell me.” She said, and sat against the rocks. He watched her sit down and he sighed. But he must of saw that she was willing to listen to his story, because he sat down next to her, instead of turning away.

“My parents aren’t really dead.” He said after a few minutes of silence. Sam didn’t know what to say or even think, so she stayed quiet. “They are both really dark wizards that are very highly wanted.”

He didn’t say anything after this, but put his head in his hands. This made all the anger inside her evaporate. All she wanted to do was comfort him and tell him everything was going to be ok. All her old feelings resurfaced and she had this strange urge to protect him. She placed a hand on his back and said, “You’re not like them, you know. I could never see you hurting anybody.”

“You don’t understand. I…” He looked up at the moon, his face more serious that she had ever seen.

“Are you a death eater?” Sam asked simply.

His head came back down and he locked on her eyes. “No. But-”

“That is all I need to know then.” She said and smiled. He smiled shyly back at her and wrapped his arms around her. She laid her head on her chest and only realized then how much she missed him.

D.A Forever 12-21-2008 05:26 AM

Eeeeeek :woot: I looove it Stephheh :loved: Not a death eater, good. But what is it then!? :faint:

Chapter 11

“So you forgave him?” Benny asked. The story was really beginning to turn dark. Just because she didn’t care that his parents are death eaters, didn’t mean he didn’t. Many thoughts began running across his head, none that he could speak out loud. He needed to hear the rest of her story.

“Yes. I know what you’re gonna say, but how could I not? He told me the truth.” She said crossing her arms stubbornly.

Benny couldn’t help but smile at her. She was the most stubbornness person he knew. Glad to see she hadn’t changed much in the past few years that he hadn’t seen her. “He didn’t tell you everything though, did he?”

Samantha averted her eyes and bit her lip. “I hate how you can do that.”

“What?” Benny asked, confused.

“You can read me better than anybody.” She rolled her eyes. Benny chuckled at her, and she smiled.

“So what happens next? You going to death eater meetings? Dark people knocking on your door?” Benny asked with a sarcastic tone.

“No.” she scowled at him. “Everything kind of went back to normal. After about a few months, Milo came to live with me.”

“He did?” Benny asked, raising an eyebrow. Samantha blushed, actually blushed! But she was still able to throw him a dirty look.

“Yes. Mum would blow her top if she found out, but I didn’t care. He needed to get away from his brother.”

“I thought you said his brother was cool.”

“He is. I mean was…I don’t know!” Samantha shook her head.

“Ok you lost me again.” Benny said, getting up from his chair. He picked up her empty mug and walked over to the stove. Tipping some more hot chocolate into their mugs, he waited for her to catch him up.

“Well, after awhile, I started going back to Milo’s gram’s house. I never saw her, but Matt hung out with us a few times. He was always joking around with us. It was nothing like how I first met him. He was funny, and he was ok with me being around.”

“How come you never met Milo’s gram?” Benny wondered.

“I guess, cause she didn’t want to meet me.” Samantha answered thoughtfully.

“Why wouldn’t she want to meet you?”

“Long story.” She answered as he handed her mug of hot chocolate.

“Good thing you are telling it then isn’t it?”

“Let me finish my first one.”

“Fine continue.”

“The night on the beach...”

“Is that the title for this chapter?” Benny pestered.

She scowled at him again and said, “Yes, now listen.”

Chapter 12

“Ok, so it’s night time and we are going to the beach?” Sam asked slowly.

“Yes. Now stop asking questions.” Milo chuckled.

“Just wondering why we are going to the beach for you to give me something.” She said with a coy smile. She wasn’t going to hide it. Sam was curious as ever to find out what he was going to give her.

“Just hold my hand.” Milo said with a mysterious smile, holding out his hand for her to take. She took it and spun on the spot with him. They reappeared in front of their spot in front of Eros rock. As usual, the moon’s milky glow shined down onto the water and gave it a glimmering color. The sand was soft beneath Sam’s feet and she breathed in the tangy, salty smell of the sea.

“So we’re here.” She said like an impatient child.

“Sit.” He directed and sat down in the sand. She sat down next to him and waited for the next directions.

“Do you want me to give it to you now? Or do you want to enjoy the night first?” Milo asked, already knowing the answer.

“Gift!” Sam squealed with excitement.

Milo laughed and dug around in his pocket. He pulled out a navy blue velvet box. Her eyes widened and at first thought he was going to purpose, but saw that the box was too big. He handed it to her, and Sam took it delicately, like it was going to break if she took it too quickly. Carefully she lifted the lid and found a necklace inside. A tiny crossbow with an arrow inside it was hanging from a silky silver chain.

“Milo, it’s beautiful.” She said quietly.

“It’s Artemis bow and arrow. It’s for protection.” Milo said and helped her put it on. She held the bow and arrow in her hand and smiled up at him.

“What is this for?” Sam asked after a quick kiss on the lips.

“Its so I know you will always be protected.” Milo said. She couldn’t believe how much he cared about her. She cared a lot about him, but he made it seem like so much more than her.

“I didn’t get you anything.” Sam pointed out.

“You don’t have to. Just being here with me now is enough for me.” Her heart began to melt at these words. He was too good to be true. No guy was like this. It had to be a dream.

“Thank you.” She said and leaned in to give him a kiss. But before their lips could meet, a crack was heard a few feet away from them. They both looked up from the spot in the sand and saw that it was Matt.

“Matthaios?” Milo said, standing up. Matt didn’t look so good. Actually he looked ready to kill somebody.

“It happened. They came.” Matt said. Sam could see he was holding his voice back from yelling. His eyes, that once used to be full of fun and laughter, were now dark and fierce. His lip was pulled up in a snarling position and his hands were almost shaking from his fury. He only had to take three fuming steps toward them, before he was in his younger brother’s face.

“What do you mean?” Milo asked.

“You know what I mean!” Matt exploded. Then he began shouting in Greek. Sam watched both of them and wished she knew how to speak Greek. She only knew how to say a few words. Matt was running his hands angrily through his hair and he looked like he really wanted to hit something. Milo watched helplessly, but he was too getting in some harsh words in the foreign language.

They both continued to speak in Greek and Sam couldn’t take it anymore. She stood up and put her hands up. “Wow! Can one of you please tell me what’s going on?”

They didn’t say anything out loud, their eyes saying more than their lips. Milo had fear and surprise in his honey eyes, and Matt just had straight out resentment.

“I knew this was going to happen. I knew it!” Matt said with fury. He then asked a question in Greek, that strangely enough, Sam understood. “Do you love her?”

Milo stood with his back to Sam, looking Matt straight in the eye. “Yes. Do this for me, please.”

She knew more Greek than she thought. Nothing could stop the happiness from sweeping though her body. Milo loved her. He loved her! This was huge. With all this going through her head, she bypassed Milo’s request.

Matt closed his eyes, letting the volcano inside him subside. “Meet me at Gram’s house in ten minutes.” He said not reopening his eyes, then apparated with another crack.

“Milo?” Sam said slowly. She wanted answers and she wanted them now.

“Remember when you said you would never judge me?” Milo said taking her hands into his and putting them to his chest.

“Yeah, but Milo what is going on?”

“Ok then you have to promise not to judge me when I tell you I can’t tell you right now. I have to go. I’ll meet you at home ok?”

“You aren’t going to tell me what just happened?” Sam asked with confusion.

“Promise me you won’t judge me?” he pleaded.

She looked into his eyes and sighed. “Fine. I’ll meet you at home.”

“Thank you Samantha.” He said and kissed her softly on the lips. Then he walked away from her and spun on the spot. Leaving her and all her questions behind him.
