Limits. The exact thing he had promised he would establish this time, so that another Cambridge duel didn't happen.

"Accept, when the duel is over. We are not here to paint the walls with each other. The aim is to disarm, without chance of recovery but more importantly without serious injury. Call it, when you see it."

His wand lowered a slight bit, a small smile touching his lips. "As for comfort? Use what spells and skills you would out there. But, don't cast anything at me that you don't want to see coming back at yourself, two-fold." If the kid didn't think he could keep that promise, he was more than welcome to test out the boundaries. Though, he felt a distinction was required. It hadn't been for Alexa, but Alexa wasn't from Durmstang. "Lastly, no curses. The law still holds here. They should not even be on a roster of spells that you would think to use outside. If they are, and I see it here or there, you'll find yourself in a cell very quick."

He spread the fingers holding his wand slightly, an open invitation. "Otherwise, show me what you can do."

"Cells aren't my thing Dakest." Tyler whipped his wand forward aiming it directly at Sabel's face. "Depulso!" As soon as he had cast the spell he cast another one producing his patronus. Now Sabel had outlined the rules well enough but he said nothing about patronuses.

A huge Western Gorilla appeared from the tip of Tyler's wand and stood in front of the man like an over protective guardian.

Tyler's words brought a brief smile to his lips. Good.

And then they were in the thick of it, and once again, Sabel found himself impressed. True to his word, the Depulso spell was redirected back at it's caster by a simple deflective shield. With the gorilla patronous in place, Sabel had no illusions that the spell would make it back to affect his caster.

It was one of the first times he had seen a patronous offered up in a duel, especially in what seemed to be an offensive manner. And if he ever had to admit it, the gorilla was a rather intimidating figure.

Taking a small step back, Sabel redirected his focus on the task at hand, Tyler not his patronus. With a quick flick of his wrist, he sent a jet stream of water onto the floor in front of the gorilla, sending it splashing and dancing in thickening volumes towards Tyler. As soon as enough water was out to coat the area of the floor Tyler was at, he sent a freezing charm directly behind, freezing the last drip of water to the tip of his wand.

Naturally Tyler's patronus kept his position in front of Tyler even as Sabel deflected his spell. Naturally the spell lost most of it's potency and was slowed considerably as it made it's way through his patronus which lost it's corporeal form for a moment or two after the spell passed through it.

That gave Tyler enough time to not fall on his face as Sabel froze the floor beneath him. He did however slip but only after sending a slashing spell in Sabel's direction. A few moments of wobblying ensued before he caught him balance again and unfroze the area beneath him.

Once again, Sabel was impressed. The kid knew non-verbals, and with the patronus blocking a good portion of his view to the wand movements, Sabel couldn't accurately tell what spell came at him. He deflected it off to the side, noting from the corner of his eye as a chunk of wall was sliced away.

Ouch. That would have hurt.

His attention snapped back to Tyler, only slightly disappointed that the young man was still standing. With a quick flick of his wrist, he sent a second knock-back jinx followed by a long, thick rope hurtling towards one of Tyler's legs.

That was a double whammy. Tyler should have seen it coming considering he noticed that was a pattern with Sabel. He seemed to always do a follow up spell.

Though he did manage to deflect the spell that was meant to knock him off his feet, he did get caught by the rope. In the moments that it took him to slash the ropes with his wand his patronus placed himself in front of him, allowing Tyler time to send another slashing spell towards his target.

It was interesting, that Tyler kept bringing his patronus back up.

Taking a step back, Sabel cast his shield up again, redirecting the spell back to Tyler. A promise was a promise after all.

He considered the other man and the patronus for a brief moment before making his decision. Without hesitation, Sabel launched into full offensive. One blasting curse after another was tossed at Tyler, some at his person, some at the ground near him. His intention wasn't to hurt the kid, but to get him moving, to get him depending on other lines of defense.

As he had said, he wanted to see what he could do.

As it were, Tyler was a lazy dueler. He knew it wasn't his forte, especially when he was ina situation where he wasn't allowed to kill or seriously maim. His aim was to leave this room without a single scratch on him, Sabel had different ideas it seemed.

Patronus was staying.

Flipping back unto his legs with remarkable flexibility, Tyler lounged forward and rolled into the direction the spell in a quick fluid motion instead of trying to dodge them. His gut instincts were to kick away Sabel's legs and then stun him in the face but he reminded himself that they were dueling with wands only so instead he aimed his wand up sending a stunning spell towards the man's face from his position on the ground.

He had to hand it to Tyler, the kid was full of surprises. The last thing Sabel had expected was for him to vault into his spells. But then, perhaps he should have seen it? The recklessness seemed to be a common YATI trait.

Needless to say, Tyler's advance caught Sabel off-balance and had him stumbling backwards, jerking his head out of the way of the wand that could have well ended up his nose, as in his face. He was momentarily surprised the kid hadn't physically attacked him, remembering suddenly Tyler had wanted a wand duel only. No physical fighting.

He repressed the instinctive drive to fight in such a way. A grimace tore through him as he caught his balance heavily on a back-step, locking his knees and tossing cutting charm into the space between them.

Tyler did something of a back flip out of the way of the slashing spells and continued his advance on the man, firing slashing spells of his own. It didn't take him long to realize that maybe he just wasn't a good dueler, not in the traditional sense anyways. Sorry Sabel.

"I think we'll need to change the rules for round two." He announced as he landed light on his legs after firing his spells mid air and narrowly dodging one. He actually felt the energy of the spell on his shirt. Close call.
Kinda hard to hex someone who wouldn't keep still he assumed.

This kid was quite the acrobatic. Seemed on the opposite end of the spectrum from Alexa. The YATI who avoided, and the YATI who charged head-first. As he knocked spells to the side and back at Tyler, he couldn't help but wonder what Sky was. Maybe she stood still? Might have been a nice change, but Sabel was no stranger to moving targets.

"You have to get past round one, first." With that, Sabel increased the barrage of spells. Two knock-back jinxes, a stinging hex wrapped up in the second jinx, and a blasting curse followed close behind by another rope.

He highly doubted it was the change that Tyler was hoping for, but the kid had to learn that duels weren't dictated by what one wanted or hoped. They were dictated by the instant. And if Tyler was interested in changing the rules, he was betting on the fact that the young man was getting uncomfortable. Either with the aspects of the duel, or that he was not yet winning.

Rainey had uttered the password to the entrance of the arena and stepped out to a perfectly empty room, void of everything that was anything. There were four walls, that was all that was needed for this particular meeting.

Leaning off to one side, he waited for his staff to arrive, his eyes on the watch on his wrist.

The notice had gone up and Simon wondered what Rainey had up his sleeve. The idea of surprise training came to mind given the chosen location for the sudden meeting but the security man was limiting it to anything at the moment. Nevetheless as the time drew near, he slipped into the closet, gave the password and stepped inside the training room scenario he was greeted with, the stark walls a sharp contrast to the buildings and forest he usual was.

"Good day..." he stated simply to Rainey, the only one there as of yet.

Tyler had just done a little detour when he saw the notice on the board. Meeting in the training room? Wasn't that what the conference room was for? He shrugged and sunk his hands into his pockets. Bosses orders were bosses orders.

Speaking of the boss..

He made a grunt in greeting to the two men as he entered and leaned against the wall.

Well now. Wasn't this exciting?

Or rather, it would have been if he could have got the darn closet to open. Five different passwords later and even some knocking, he was finally in. To a room. A big room. An empty room. Well, empty besides the three silents that were milling about. One of which, the Bossman, took up a bit more space than the others. Presence and all that.

Rhydian offered a smart nod to the man. " Mornin' Rainey."

And er, the other two. They were....Bacon and Benidict? No, that was his breakfast. Benn...Bell...something. Men. They were men.

" 'Mornin' boys." Or that. That worked too.

Really needed to work on that name thing. Especially since the older of the two had sort of helped him out on his first day in the office.

Perhaps today it was best if he employed the 'do not speak unless spoken to'. Probably. Moving off somewhere into the space between the Breakfast Club, Rhydian tucked his hands into his pockets and rocked back on his heels, glancing curiously about the room. Now, where was Lex?

Meeting in the Training Arena. Nothing else needed saying. She didn't care why they were meeting there instead of that Conference Room because this could mean a whole different kind of meeting and she was READY. No really, Lex had fast walked here after seeing the notice, having been warned to be quick about it but not wanting to run in case she bumped into anyone that would slow her down.

It was a delicate process and a wonder she didn't just attempt to levitate people out of the way. Closets and passwords barely registered to her now and she was in the room in secon--

Who stole the furniture? Not that there ever was furniture to begin with but bare walls? Huh. That was...interesting. "Mornin' boss." Did he see how ready she was for this? How PREPARED she looked for whatever he was gonna throw at them? Simon got a wiggly fingered wave and Tyler got...well only to be polite in the presence of the boss he got a nod (because Head Aurors needed to be on good terms with their co-workers and if he knew better it could seriously put a damper on things).

And would you lookit that. Her partner had gotten here before her. Rhydian got a nudge and a grin as she took the spot between him and Simon before her attention turned back to the boss. Fully focused, yes she was.

At first, Dale was surprised at being asked to meet in the training arena. Or at least, he was surprised that it was all the staff. His job was mostly a desk- and paperwork based, rather than anything practical. So he wondered if maybe there was a mistake and that this was meant just for the action type jobs... and then he remembered who his Department Head was and figured it was probably a good idea to get on over there. It had said ALL staff, and Dale was doubtful that Rainey would make any mistakes.

Doing his best to ignore any worries that he was going to be completely out of place here, Dale entered the training arena, putting on the best confident air he could muster. He didn't exactly frequent this room a lot (read: he never went in there), so... getting in looked like it was going to be a problem. In the end, though, he found himself right behind Lex and managed to follow her in.

"Rainey... everyone," he said with nods of greeting as he joined those already there, casting his eyes about the unfamiliar room for just a moment before refocusing on boss and colleagues. Right then. Meeting.

As soon as she'd seen the notice, Penelope headed straight for the training arena. What exactly this meeting would be about, she wasn't sure, but her curiosity was definitely alert now, particularly because of the location. Why the arena and not the conference room? No complaints of course, the training arena seemed like a more interesting place for it, but still, very interesting.

She slipped in behind another guy and Alexa, greeting Rainey with a nod and a "G'morning." The others that were already there got a simple nod in greeting too as she went to stand by Simon, letting her eyes quickly take in the apparently empty room.

Thankfully his staff were grasping the valuable concept of punctuality. Fantastic.

Although, he couldn't say that for all. It really was a pity that they would be losing some pay. Tsk tsk tsk.

"Bennett," he had greeted to the first to join him.

Followed in quick succession by, "Bellaire... Blackhold... Cambridge."

He nodded to them in greeting.

And then "Upstead," and "Greenwell" brought up the rear. Whether anyone else was going to grace them with their presence he wasn't sure, and at this stage he didn't particularly care.

"Now I called you all here for a reason, one which I think is rather obvious... but I fear we have some training to do. Anybody want to hazard a guess what complaints I've received about you lot?" Not necessarily complaints about them individually, but generally speaking.

He really didn't want to spend too much time chatting through their thoughts and feelings, he had a task for them to complete, one he was eager to oversee.

There wasn't much to focus on with blank walls and an empty room all around them, leaving her attention at the entrance waiting for the others. Dale she saw because he'd come in right after her and he got a nod, so did Penelope when she got there. All that free time vanished however the moment the boss began speaking and hazel eyes locked on the man.

They...were doing training? Well she had training today regardless, being that was half of what the YATI program entailed but she didn't mind extra training if it meant less paper work to get through later on.

Yup, definitely pumped for this. Brilliant way to get the work day rolli--complaints? Say what now? People were complaining...about them...? As in....actual complaints? And now they needed training...? Couldn't have been a coincidence. "Maybe they don't take us seriously on the defending end? Don't think we're truly capable of protecting and enforcing the law?"

It would explain why they 'needed' more training now but there was hardly anything to protect...'cept apparently the gold at Gringotts. "It's the goblins, isn't it?" Did they rag on them?? Rotten little buggers.

Ah, there she was. Lex got a return grin for the nudge, but no words. That concept was in place. The speak until spoken to one. Plus, Rainey didn't seem like the type for idle chatter. Not that chatter between partners was idle, especially when there were issues of gold to investigate, but the point still stood. This was not the place nor the time.

The others that joined them got a curious look and a nod. Names, were eluding him today. Maybe he'd make up flash cards or something later.

For now, it was time to focus. Training and complaints. Complaints and training. He blinked, his rocking halting momentarily. First thought was that there could hardly have been any complaints against him, given he was the 'new guy' and all, but then Bossman had say 'you lot'. As in all of them. A blanket statement.

His brow furrowed, as he glanced about, listening to Lex's suggestions. Sounded legit. They were all young after all. Young and...it hit him and he rocked again, his attention turning to Rainey. "Maybe its 'cause we're all so good looking." The complaints and the not being taken seriously as defenders. "People can get touchy about that sort of stuff."

Especially the goblins. Jelous little creatures that they could be. As for the rest, it boiled down to excuses of not 'representative' of the general population. Biased hiring. All that fun jazz.

That being said, he wasn't sure how Rainey would teach them to ungood-lookify themselves. Unless it was some identity charm. Maybe they were being too obvious in their work?

Bellaire was the first one to enter the training area after him. Simon gave him a nod in greeting in response to the grunt he had been greeted with. Interesting how he echoed that skill that used to be almost a mandatory requirement of MLErs of the age before Tyler had even joined them. Thankfully it had dwindled off because he himself wasn't for it. Then the new guy that had unknowingly tested out Chosen's security. He seemed far normal nowadays...for the most part. "Morning," he greeted as Rhydian took up a spot between him and the other YATI.

Ah...look. A third trainee. Lex was the next to show up and Simon couldn't help but wonder what was up with the members of the department that weren't part of that demographic. Not even Legend had joined them and he definitely missed Josh and Sabel in the mix. He registered the weird wave sent his way and acknowledged it with a polite nod. And then watched the interaction between her and Shoeboy as she came to stand beside them both.

There was a non-auror trained or training member of the department. Simon pegged him as part of the Wizamagot team but the exact name was escaping him at the moment. He gave him a polite nod of acknowledgement as well. And then another YATI came in...Penelope. "Good morning," he returned simply.

It was after her arrival that Rainey decided to call the little gathering to order. Such a small smattering of the department but Simon supposed it was good enough for the man. As for the reason for the called meeting, obvious or not, the security man remained quiet at first, listening instead on what others suggested. Lex's idea wasn't a new one so he doubted that was the case, and he'd heard nothing about goblins. And the one given about their looks was sooooo off he had to fight the urge to shake his head.

"Perhaps the way we operate..." he finally mused. Granted he had passed on a few to Rainey and didn't think himself guilty but he'd offer that idea.

Well... seemed like Rainey really had meant everyone, even those not in the elite sort of action teams. Dale... didn't see how this could be good. He simply stood there, arms folded in what was his relaxed posture, leaning his weight mostly onto one leg, and waited. And listened.

Training. Ooooookay. Probably not training in shorthand, right? And - Dale squinted a little - complaints. About the department? Well... that was a very broad thing to ask; Dale didn't know a whole lot about his colleagues, much less what they got up to in their day-to-day lives at work that might warrant a complaint. As for him.......... well, he definitely hoped there had been no complaints about him. What was the point of having a job if he wasn't going to do it well? But what did they all have in common, other than the obvious MLE badge, that there could be complaints them as a whole?

Intrigued, Dale mulled over it for a few moments. The meeting from the start of the year sprang to mind, in particular the directives they had all been given. "Obvious snooping, perhaps?" he suggested, with slight shake of the head that indicated that really... he had no idea.

Tyler frowned. People were complaining about them? Well...whatever. He folded his arms and looked directly into the opposite corner of the room..away from everyone. Maybe that guy didn't like the fact that some of his potion ended up as collateral damage and he went off to complain. Pfft...

"Some people just think they're above being checked." So they complain about everything. Maybe the bossman wanted them to be more stealthy in their investigations..

Sky had most definitely been prompt. She had just chosen to come in her new favorite way. Disillusioned. Pretty useful trick, if she did say so herself. You'd be surprised at how many people to this day didn't even think of it. Even in this very department.

As Rainey began speaking however, she silently removed the spell. And it seemed that this meeting was about...complaints. Not that she was surprised that they had been getting them. No, what she was surprised about was how many of her colleagues were surprised. Seriously, people? "For one, some of us are too arrest happy," looking at you, Cambridge. "For another, there was that awful Daily Prophet article, so people probably think we're all a part of that Cult." Which wasn't true on her part, but she couldn't say the same about her coworkers. Especially the department head, who seemed pretty. ......weird.
