I hope I'm doing this right xD Jackson walked through the secret door and found himself in a narrow corridor of a low lit old building. He quickly glanced behind him to make sure he was in the right place. Yes the door he had walked through was still there, so he turned around again. Looking up ahead at the end of the narrow corridor, Jackson caught a glimpse hoops and markers lying on the floor. Wait what was that? Jackson instinctively reached for his wand when his eyes caught a glimpse of something that looked like a Death Eater. A second later, he relaxed berating himself. Like a Death Eater would be able to get into this newly fortified Ministry of Magic. Most definitely highly unlikely. As he approached the open area, a card suddenly appeared and hovered in front of him. Jackson read what was written on it. The instructions explained what was required of him. He was supposed to successfully apparate through a series of 5 markers, without getting stuck in any of them. Knowing that he had his work cut out for him, Jackson began limbering up even as he stepped forward....right into a glowing red circle. Assuming that this wasn't a good thing, Jackson immediately glanced up and looked for a flashing green light, turning on the spot, even as he located one. Focusing all his concentration on moving himself out of this predicament and over to where the light was flashing green, he felt that familiar pull and tug... ....and then POP! He was no longer standing inside the glowing red circle but instead one that was flashing green. Jackson quickly looked around him, on the alert for any dangers that were most likely lurking around, even as he searched for the next flashing green light |
*thumbs up* SPOILER!!: McQueen Feel the need for speed? Only seconds after reaching your target marker, the green hoop marker turns red. Be on the lookout for your next target marker. Quick smart! However, though vigilance is key in anticipating not only the progression of your apparition markers but also the challenges you may face, deflecting physical assaults might not be your primary concern for the minute. A Stickfast Hex on the area where you stand may prove to be the greatest hindrance to your progression. Hope you can think quick on your feet, because here comes the next flash of green! |
Post 2: 2nd marker obstacle SPOILER!!: The Announcer Jackson had barely found his footing in the second marker he was on when in seconds it turned red. "Honestly? I know that this test is all about keeping a person alert and keeping one on their toes and one step ahead, but I don't think they meant it to be literally," Jackson mumbled to himself as he quickly glanced around for that flashing green light. 'Where are you?' he thought to himself, even as he quickly positioned himself to apparate out of this marker once he saw the signal. .....and it was then, he realized that he couldn't move his feet. Jackson quickly looked down, as he tried raising one foot again. His feet were solidly stuck to the ground. "What the heck?" Jackson cursed, shaking his head. He was now facing his first obstacle, the Stickfast Hex! Without a second moment of hesitation, Jackson drew his wand and pointed it at his feet. With an upwards flick of his wand, followed with a quick twirl at the end, he called out, "Skurge." A red beam of light shot out and hit his shoes. Jackson raised one foot and smiled when it lifted off the ground. The Stickfast Hex had been neutralized...and just in time too. Up flashed the green light! Quickly taking a step back and turning on the spot, Jackson focused on his next destination and apparated over to where the marker was flashing green. |
Post 1 Simon was greeted with the interior or a derelict building, a place that briefly reminded him of the gymnasium that the muggle-aversion training had been held in the previous year. Except that hadn't been an illusion and had been expected to be an actual work place unlike the area he was now within. The auror took a brief that focused look around the area to take in his surroundings, apparition hoops and practice dummies the most noticable in the landscape of the enchanted room. A card appeared with the task at hand, explaining what they were to do. At least the minimum facts. There were usually surprises along the way. Apparition had already been labeled the name of the game on the notice that had advertised on the bulletin board and it hadn't changed. He took a deep breath and made sure his wand was out and ready at his side before stepping in even more fully into the room. His footfall landing inside a red hoop that marked the start of the training. His eyes quickly scanned the training area for the first green hoop that was his target landing field. Locating it, Simon focused on where he was and where he wanted to be, following through with the task concentration of apparition. Pull behind the navel Uncertainty Pop. One auror in the middle of the green hoop. Easy enough...for now. |
SPOILER!!: McQueen This marker too turned red upon successful apparition into its zone... but before this happens you're already under fire from the Death Eater practice dummy, an slew of hexes and jinxes - some more harmful than others - directed at you. Should any of them hit, you might find yourself blind, dancing, being attacked by bogies... or worse. But be quick, you don't want to miss the next marker! SPOILER!!: Bennett An easy task for an Auror, landing in the marked space with ease and finesse... but how might you handle the defensive cloud of dark smoke hindering the ability to see past your own nose? And who's to say the next marker isn't already glowing green? |
Post 2 SPOILER!!: Announcer The markers were clear to see one moment, and fading from his sight the next. A spot of blackened smoke cast over the area in front of his face making him unable to see his next move right away. Obstacle one in the arena it seemed it would be. Okay, now how to deal with the smoke? Quickly he ran over the options in his head, knowing he had to move on as soon as he could. There were a few, some more obvious then others. Yet finally Simon waved his wand at the smoke, casting a transfiguration spell that changed it into a cloud of daggers, another wave sending the weapons harmlessly to the ground and out of his line of sight. One just barely missing nicking his nose as the smoke had been close. His vision clearer, the glow of green could be seen in the distance. Marker number two was already lit and Simon did his best to quickly focus on it to move but not to make a mistake in his haste. He then went through the motions of apparating towards his new destination, his eyes closing slightly as he visualized himself appearing there and hoping he wasn't too late. One...two...three...open. Whew. |
Post 3: 3rd Marker SPOILER!!: The Announcer Even as Jackson's feet touched the ground into the next marker, he felt something fly by his face and he turned his head, just in time to see another hex headed towards him....and another...and another. To top it off, his marker had just turned red. If he wanted to make it out of the marker unscathed and unharmed, Jackson knew that he had to deflect the hexes and jinxes the Death Eater practice dummy was sending his way. Shield Up!! Wrist flicking his wand in a tight circular motion, he said, "Impiriano, immediately raising a bluish bubble shield around him. Once the shield was up, ducking instinctively at the hexes and spells that bounced off it, Jackson pointed his wand at the dummy and said, "Confringo" sending an orange fire like beam, through his protective shield, and straight at it, blowing it to bits. At that moment, he saw a green light flashing from the corner of his eye. With a quick glance over at the marker, Jackson immediately moved one foot back and turned on the spot, while at the same time, focusing all his concentration on moving himself from where he was currently standing, over to where the next marker was flashing green. Here..... ....Twisting...Turning...POP!!..... ....and over to here....flashing green marker. |
Post 1 After A explained the task. Jory read this twice. Apparition wasn't that bad but he knew with whatever surprises there would be, he'd have to think fast. Wand in hand, he stepped into the room and into the red circle on the floor. Quickly, the MLE scanned the room for a sign of the green hoop. There! Straight up ahead. The three D's immediately shot into his mind, just like if it were yesterday when he was taking his first Apparition lesson at Hogwarts. Jory concentrated solely on the green hoop as he turned on the spot. He felt that all too familiar pull around his naval and then that feeling of suffocation that he never quite got used to as he was rushed toward his destination. With a faint POP! Jory emerged from the feeling of suffocation as he breathed regularly once more. He looked down. His Destination, Determination and Deliberation paid off for he was standing in the green hoop. |
SPOILER!!: Bennett A strong Impedimenta is sent your way the second you appear in the marker. There's no time to react, and therefore your movements have been significantly slllllllooooooooowwwwwweeeeeeddddd down. It's hardly conducive to your mission when you need to act quickly. SPOILER!!: Stonewall A shimmering gold mist floats a few feet over your marker, and you soon find yourself rising into the air, upside down. It seems the effects of gravity has been reversed. Good luck progressing to your next marker, it's flashing green you know. |
Post 2 SPOILER!!: Le Announcer Jory hardly had time to take in his success on apparating into the first hoop when he became suddenly aware that he was being lifted into the air. No, not lifted but rising on his own. He quickly observed the gold mist that was hovering over the marker. This no doubt was the cause of him being airborne. And to make things worse, he was head over heels. In other words, upside down. But the YATI knew what he must do. Good thing he had his wand at the ready. "Liberacorpus!'' He spoke softly yet clearly as he concentrated to the fullest. He felt himself immediately adhering to the law of gravity once more. He hurriedly twisted himself so that he could land on his feet. Just in time too because one second later and he would have been sitting in the hoop. Wasting no more time, Jory located the flashing green marker to his left a few feet from where he currently stood. He turned on the spot, concentrating on his new destination. Once more there was that POP!, the uncomfortable sensation of being suffocated and then relief as he breathed in fresh air. Looking down, Jory found himself standing in the next green marker. Great! |

Thankfully the spell, despite its strength was still only temporary. Less than a minute at most since normally it lasted just seconds. All Simon could really do was wait out the effects since his casting was effected by the slower than normal movements. Yet he wasn't wasting his moments, thinking on what may lay next. Eventually he felt his actions become less tied down and already his eyes were looking among the remaining possible destinations to see when it lit up. Now where was that next green hoop? |
SPOILER!!: Stonewall The second your feet hit the ground, ropes rise up and bind your legs together and your arms to your sides, it writhes around you tightly. Think smart, or you might find yourself trapped and exceptionally vulnerable to further attack, not to mention - you might miss your next marker. SPOILER!!: Bennett Taking your time and riding things out might cost you in the end. The green marker flashes rapidly. Quick! Before it turns red! |
Post 4 - 3rd Marker Quote:
3...2...1 Pop! He looked down at his feet to see the hoop flashing green before switching to red. That counted as him making it....right? It had been green when Simon first landed, even if he hadn't been in the center of the hoop but rather on the edge, just inside. At least he was all in one piece as well. |
Post 3 SPOILER!!: Announcer Dude What the...?! Jory felt like he was being pinned down. His arms, legs and around him were being bound together by ropes! Looking down, he took in the "damage" done by the ropes. Sure, his hands were pinned to his sides but he realised he could still move the wrist of his right hand. His wand hand. Excellent! Jory angled his wrist so that his wand was pointing upwards, towards the ropes binding his right hand. "Relashio!'' Purple light traveled from his wand's tip towards those ropes, instantly freeing his hand. "Relashio! Relashio!'' More flashes of light and the YATI was able to himself completely of the ropes that had bound him. As the last of the rope fell away, Jory caught another flash of green out of the corner of his eyes. Concentrating on his next destination, he turned on the spot once more. POP! He was standing in the next marker. |
Josh's attentive dark brown eyes looked around the place as he silently walked through the corridor towards the rather open space in the dimly lit place.Yes, the training arena was definitely his favourite place in the whole ministry building, the places where he could eat coming after it. Now, he just needed to make sure he wouldn't get new bruises or scars if he didn't want Evelyn to know he was into more training. The young woman didn't like it, especially since he had been a father. And not to forget he was going to be a father again and with all the hormones, she was even harder to deal with than her usual difficult and intimidating, Slytherin woman self. The Auror walked even faster when he saw the card hovering in the air and he snatched it to see what it was. Instructions... He hoped that was going to be the only thing to read in the training process. Apparating to some certain marked points. That sounded simple. Having wits to end the mission. Eh...he never considered himself someone who had sharp wits yet he was going to try his best. And the part about physical barriers and stuff and the part about an assault made him smile a bit. That was going to be fun. After one minute or so he had read all the instructions, he walked in the open area and surely didn't miss the red mark he was standing in. |
SPOILER!!: Bennett You don't appear to be stuck, but you oughtn't spend too much time looking down, because an arsenal of arrows have been fired in your direction from not one... but two sides! Dodge and deflect and make it to your next marker! SPOILER!!: Stonewall Out of breath yet? The next challenge you are immediately faced with as you come to land in the marker, is a flurry of pixies. Electric blue and very possibly angered by something, they whizz around your hear, pulling and pushing and tugging and biting. Hopefully it's not too much of a distraction, your next marker is already flashing. SPOILER!!: Carter And let the training commence. The second you step into the red marker, signalling the start of the activity, the room around you starts to turn. In addition to this, the circular patch of floor the marker encompasses begins to revolve in the other direction. If concentrating on your moving target, whilst moving in the opposite direction wasn't hard enough, the flashing marker which is your target is also revolving. Let's hope you don't get motion sickness. |
Post 4 SPOILER!!: Mr. Announcer Jory hadn't much time to wonder what surprise was awaiting him for the next thing he knew was there were things tugging at his ears and pulling on his hair. "YEOW!'' he yelled out and swatted at the things. That was a mistake. Whatever it was, one of the grabbed his hand and dug its teeth sharply into one of his finger. Cornish Pixies! he realised. Jory shook his hand furiously as even more of them tugged on his hair. Out of the corner of his eyes, the YATI could see something green. His next marker! There was no time to waste. Finally, he shook the pixie from his finger which sent it flying off in the opposite direction. "Immobulus! Immobulus! Immobulus!'' Jory did the complicated wand movement wherever he felt pressure on his head and ears, each time producing blue light. "Immobulus! Immobulus!'' As soon as he had rendered as many of the pixies as possible helpless, Jory turned his attention fully to his next marker. He turned on the spot and with that popping sound was transported to his next destination. |
Post 4 -4th Marker No stick...no problem. From that point of view anyway. Simon didn't have a chance to even think about being relieved that he had made it as the next level of attack was initiated to come after him. He managed to dodge the first volley of arrows, even as he felt one rush along his upper arm. The way it stung beneath his shirt though made the auror think he would certainly need to check it out later. Once he was clear of the training route of course. With a quick flick of his wand, he cast a shield charm hoping to deflect the rest as they came at him from both sides. Just long enough to head to the next glowing green circle. Even still he almost felt like he had to swing right and left to have to fend off them all. "Protego!" he cast after another close call, strengthening his shield so he could focus on appariting rather than dodging the arrow attacks. Catching a window in the onslaught, the auror quickly ran through the procedure. Destination...Determination...Deliberation Disappear and reappear. In the hoop he wanted. |

Like...everything was moving including himself with the moving floor under his feet. He didn't move much himself as the revolving movement under his feet forced him to do so. Instead, he eyed everything he could see in the room and tried to spot something that did not change its position. Anything. It didn't look like he had much luck with that...except that one stain on the moving wall. He had no idea how that would help him. Moreover he was not going to have much time the moment he would see his target so if he had to find out how he was going to get to it, he had to figure it out now. Then there was the flashing green target. Eh...apparently he had to do for something simple and quick. The auror grabbed his wand and while moving to keep the green mark in his sight, he pointed his wand at it. "Arresto Momentum" Much slower so it was much easier to figure where it would be moving the next instant which was where he was supposed to apparate at. Not that now it would make much progress with the spell. He took a quick step and turned to his right on the revolving red mark to safely keep the green one in his sight. Then he eyed it quickly yet carefully to estimate how far it would move at the moment he would be there. And once he decided where he was supposed to apparate, slightly to the right of the green mark where it was moving to, he lost not time to apparate to it. |
SPOILER!!: Stonewall The second after your feet touch the ground, the marker too turned red, success... but as this happens you come under fire from the Death Eater practice dummy, where a slew of hexes and jinxes - some more harmful than others - are directed at you. Should any of them hit, you might find yourself blind, dancing, eating slugs... or worse. But be quick, you don't want to miss your last marker and final challenge! SPOILER!!: Bennett From the corner of the dimly lit room, not far from your marker, the tendrils of a Devils Snare lash out, taking you by the ankle. Don't be pulled out of your marker, or you may not get back in and you won't reach the next marker. SPOILER!!: Carter After getting through the first challenge, you land safely within the marker... or perhaps, not so safely. The second you touch down an angry shower of bricks and rubble shoot your way from numerous angles. It seems the Death Eater practice dummy is fond of oppugno. Dodge and deflect and make it to the next marker unscathed. |
Post 5 SPOILER!!: Or is it Ms. Announcer? Another success! But yet again Jory had no time to really register that for a load of hexes and jinxes were being shot his way. For their directionality, he figured they were coming from a practice dummy. Flashes of light of various colours flew all around him, some narrowly missing him while some were very much off target. There was only one spell that could help him here. ''Protego!'' Jory traced his wand in a vertical line. This produced a transparent, light blue light. Now he had a protective shield. some of the spells rebounded off the shield while some disintegrated as soon as they hit. Taking advantage of this protection, the YATI scanned the Arena for his next marker. It was easy to find since is was flashing green. He closed his eyes, turned on the spot and immediately vanished. He appeared standing in his new, flashing green marker a moment later. |
Post 6 - 5th Marker Quote:
Devil's snare! "Lumos Solem!!" he cast just as swiftly, correcting the spell he had been using, remembering the spell that conjured sunlight was usually a good defense against the plant. Hadn't it been in the Tri-Wizard tournament that it had been focused on? As the plant recoiled, it pulled again and Simon aimed this time directly at the vine that was still on his leg if not a little looser. "Diffindo!' His leg free, the auror wasn't going to hesitate for another attack. Turning on the spot once he was standing fully again, he disapparated, appearing within his fifth and seemingly final marker. |
It's THE Announcer ;) SPOILER!!: Stonewall AND Bennett There is little left separating you from exiting the Arena, and while you reach the final marker, situated by the exit, you are confronted with your worst fear. Let's just hope it's not too crippling, or you could be left glued to your marker, forced to face it a little longer. |
SPOILER!!: *settles for The Shifty One* xD Great! Just a couple steps and he would be out of the Arena. But first...what was that on the floor just next to the exit? Jory approached cautiously, holding his wand in front of him, his mind ready to think quick. Coming closer, he realised it was a human. Uh oh. He increased his pace but stopped short about two steps away from the figure. It was Ronnie. What? No...Impossible. Jory stood there, staring at Ronnie's obviously lifeless from laying flat on the floor, her eyes open but staring unseeingly up at the ceiling, as his heart began pounding furiously. He suddenly felt numb. No, something in his brain said. Ronnie's safe. He shook himself, refusing to let this decoy fool him. Yes. That was what this was. A decoy that was part of his training. A Boggart. The YATI was surprised by the change of his fear. He had faced a Boggart twice before. Once for a DADA homework and the other time for his DADA OWL. Both times the Boggart had taken the form of his father's lifeless body with a bullet in him. Jory raised his wand and trying not to let what was in front of him be a distraction, thought of something funny. "Riddikulus!'' He make that wand movement- a sort of flatter U shape with flat 'hooks' on either end. There was a whip crack noise and Ronnie vanished only to be replaced by a huge pile of helium balloons in various colours appeared floating before him. They hovered for a moment before they started to bounce into each other like bumper cars. As they did so, the YATI could feel his heart rate return to normal and that numbness disappear. |
