...what? How far down had she gone? Cassie had been lost in her own thoughts, too distracted to remember to actually get off the lift when it had reached her own level. She had walked out when the door had opened again. Even though the floor had been unfamiliar, it would have been too embarrassing to immediately get back on the lift, so she had kept walking forward like she knew exactly where she was going. The only problem was that she did not. Not at all. Cassie had no clue where she was and was now so turned around that she was horrible and completely lost.
She did not recognize the area of the ministry at all. It did look like a bad place to be lost. It was not very inviting. Hopefully others around would not be as ominous as the setting suggested they would be. They would still be ministry employees, after all. But Cassie had not come across another person yet. And she wasn't sure if she wanted to ask for directions when she did. She didn't want to admit that she was lost in her own place of employment. But she was, and she kept moving forward. Her right hand was gently brushing the wall. If she kept following it, it should lead her to some sort of exit. Hopefully. You could never be certain of anything when magic was involved.

Victoria was taking a walk around the ministry and was deep in thought. The Private Investigator that she had hired had said that he had uncovered a gold mind and they would be taking action soon, but she wasn't fully sure what that meant. Did they finally have the proof they needed that the woman had tried to harm her son? Was she going to be arrested and out of their lives for good. She couldn't help but feel a little bad for Jon, even though he had done nothing but cause their son pain. So much pain that her 18 year old had now disowned the man. She didn't want ill on anyone though and knew this could hurt his career being taken down with his wife. She just hoped he truly had no part in it. The thought made her sick.
Not paying attention she almost ran right into another ministry employee. "Oh I'm so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going." That just wasn't like her, she really need to get her focus out of her thoughts.

Cassie had been walking for a while since she had first realized that she was lost. How long exactly she could not say, but she knew that it had not been much less than ten minutes. Hopefully she would find an exit soon, or another person. There still had not been a sign of any of those either. Not until Cassie rounded a corner and seconds later nearly ran smack into another woman. Luckily they both caught sight of each other just in time and avoided a full on collision. Cassie took a step back so they were not invading each other's personal space.
"Don't worry about it," she said with a kind smile. After all, no harm done. Now that she had found another person, all Cassie needed to do was find out if this woman knew how to get out or if she was also lost. But she needed to do it inconspicuously. So her tone casual when she spoke. She was just carrying on a friendly conversation here. "Where are you headed?"

She looked a little taken back by the question, not because it was a bad question. No, it was because with all on her mind and a mother of three small children a quick question made her stop and think for a moment to make sure she really remembered what she was doing.
Smiling at the lady she couldn't help but chuckle, "So sorry, my thoughts were else where and it took me a second to remember where I was going. I'm headed back to my office in the Games Department." She curiously looked at the woman though now, "Did you need help with something?" It was a rather odd question to randomly ask someone else the person might need help with something or a hand to help them.

Oh, magical Games and Sports was not far from Cassie's own level. So all she would have to do would be to follow this woman back to a lift. She knew they were on neither of those levels at the moment, considering she had been on both of them and knew what they looked like. And she assumed neither had undergone major refurbishments since she had last set foot there. In any case, Cassie now felt much more confident about her prospects of not being lost any longer.
She did smile a bit sheepishly at the woman's next question. "Not really. I may have wandered a bit in the wrong direction. I'm headed back to level five."

Victoria looked at the woman curious while it seemed like she was thinking about something. Oh, she was most likely lost now wasn’t she. “Level five isn’t too far.” Not that any of the floor really were when it came to the lifts. “My mind gets me in trouble that way many times. I get thinking and the next thing I know I’m in the wrong place.” She had worked at the ministry for so long now, that it was hard for her to get lost.
“Well if you are headed that way, we can walk together. Level seven has a great coffee cart. They serve the best coffee in the ministry if you would like to stop by there for some. My treat.” She was always up for a cup of coffee.

That was good to hear. It would have been really embarrassing if Cassie had wandered too far away from where she was supposed to be. She simply listened to what the woman was saying and nodded sympathetically. "I know what you mean. I was lost in thought and stepped off the lift on the wrong floor."
"Really?" She perked up at the thought of coffee. And great coffee, at that. Her last cup had been that morning, of course, but it was always a good time for some coffee. And if level seven had such good coffee like this woman claimed, Cassie couldn't believe she hadn't tried it before. "That sounds wonderful, thank you. My name's Cassandra by the way, but Cassie's fine too."

She couldn't help but chuckle, "It's so easy to do. I feel like my mind is always my worst enemy anymore, though I think that comes with age and children." She had hit forty this year and she was still trying to keep up with three young children. It was exhausting some days. Checking the time she was glad she still had a bit of it before needing to be at her last meeting for the day.
Coffee would truly be a great treat right now. "Oh yes, it's wonderful." She adored level seven's coffee. It was the best there was. "Well Cassie, why don't we head to the lift and we could go grab a cup before we part ways. Though, I do have to warn you." She glanced around before leaning a little closer. "Something weird has been going on lately in my department." Should she actually say what she was thinking, "I think one of my employees is a Vampire." There she said it, she had been watching Mercedes for awhile, it just seemed to her it was the only sensible reasoning behind it.
"I'm Victoria by the way." She smiled warmly remembering she hadn't given her name.

If forgetting things came with age and children, that meant Cassie only had to look forward to things getting worse for her. Not that she expected any less. At least it didn't happen very often now. Her mind was usually on high alert. But there had been no reason for it to be when she was alone in the lift.
Coffee sounded wonderful. Cassie followed the woman back in the direction of the lift. She was just glad to be getting out of...wherever she was. Back to somewhere familiar, even if it was not her own department. Anywhere with coffee would be great. Except, weird things? She just raised her eyebrows and listened as Victoria explained. There always seemed to be weird things going on in the wizarding world.
"A vampire?" She thought about that for a moment. "But that not...too weird, is it?" Vampires were definitely real creatures that existed in the wizarding world? That wasn't the weirdest thing that could happen, right? Cassie didn't see any reason why a ministry employee couldn't be a vampire. They were different from humans, but still functioned in similar ways.

As she came close to the lift Victoria hit the button to bring it to them. Turning towards Cassie as she questioned her about her coworker. "Yes she is, but I haven't noticed anything horribly weird about it. She just sniffs at you once in awhile. If you have any fresh cuts is when I would recommend staying away, but I've heard her sense of smell is so good that you could be floors away and she would know the exact moment you were bleeding."
She shrugged it off like it was no big deal and looked back at the lift. "How do you like your coffee Cassie?"
