Observation Exercise An archway that appears to be nothing but an ordinary archway is propped up to the side of the orientation space. The top most part of the archway bears an engraving and once you step onto the other side of it, it's magic takes effect and changes the appearance of the space around you to resemble an ordinary street in Britain. But not everything is as it looks and there are threats here and there throughout this magically manufactured simulation. |
After participating in the (rather interesting)conversations at the lunch tables, Perwyn wandered away from the lunch area and approached the old archway leaning against the wall. "What are you doing here?" She asked curiously as she put her hands on her sides and examined it. There was an engraving at the top, but she couldn't see it clearly. This must be one of the challenges she heard the others talking about. "Might be fun." Perwyn said out loud to herself. And so she stepped through the arch (wand in hand just in case) not quite sure what to expect. No sooner had she stepped through the arch than she found herself standing in what looked like an ordinary muggle street. Perwyn quickly stashed her wand inside her pocket. Perwyn leaned against a store wall and began watching for anything that shouldn't be there. This was easy for her, she enjoyed watching muggles back home (and nature) and so it would be easy for her to spot something out of the ordinary. A large dog walked across the street and into a dark alleyway. He paused before entering the alley and looked behind him. Soon another dog crossed the street and followed him. Perwyn frowned and followed the dogs at a distance into the Alleyway, hand in her pocket. |
Alice Yeah.... Observation was not exactly Taladona's thing, she had a tendency to miss things, to see without observing and she was a bit worried about this exercise. Her new bosses watched this, didn't they? Would they grade her on her performance? Judge her on it? Whatever she could do this, she just had to focus and think things through, no impulsive decisions could be made... |
Perwyn stepped bravely into the alley, following the two dogs. Her hand was resting gently on her wand in her pocket, in case she had to make a quick escape. She was not good at fighting, but she knew a few defensive spells that would give her time to escape. Hopefully though she wouldn't need to. |
.....She could've sworn she was headed to the lunch and whatchamacallit table a few seconds ago....How did she end up here, again? Fallon's head swiveled around like a parakeet observing the being watching it. Hmm, she must've done that distracted thing again. OH WELL! ^____^ This activity looked like fun to the strawberry blonde. Fun, indeed! Find the animagi, ehhhh??? Fallon Crawford can certainly do that! "Well, hello little mice! Or should I say, HUMANS?!" |
It didn't matter who you were or what department you worked in, observation was essential to working at the ministry. Or at least, Emmalee thought so. After all, mixing up devil's snare and flitterbloom would be a deadly mistake, even if all you were doing was checking inventory when a new shipment of samples came in. A misplaced number on a form could mean 800 boxes of quills instead of 80. A misspelled name, an undeserved prison sentence. Overlooking that random twitch of a twig could allow a faulty line of brooms on the market, causing untold numbers of injuries. At least this observational exercise was... potentially active and enjoyable. The redhead was sharp, but when was the last time she'd had to think about whether an animal was actually an animagus? That level of attention and observation would be a good refresher. Stepping through the arch, she held her wand at the ready, though she was perhaps more interested in observing the other employees as they went through the exercise. |
For Steph <3 Lynley made her way over here now. Observation. Right. This should be interesting...and it was important...VERY important, to be observant, especially in her field. Gosh...so much so. She wanted some of her employees to GET HERE and do this exercise already! She wanted to take note of how UNOBSERVANT they clearly were, and to BERATE them about it at their first meeting! No, only in her best dreams would she ever be that harsh at their FIRST meeting. The second meeting...maybe. Third, definitely. She twiddled her wand a bit, thinking how best to approach this exercise...she needed to feel alert and on top of things. Clear. Focused. Was she taking this very seriously? Yes. Lynley Purcell had to be amazing at everything she did. Less than so would just not do. |

Yoona had taken a step onto the other side of an ordinary, if not maybe displaced archway when... she was on the street? This was so strange. She frowned and observed her surroundings. This must be one of the activities organized by the Ministry of Magic. NICE. She approached a blonde who also just joined in the Exercise. She appeared to be looking for the hidden animagi. "Hi, I think those are real mice." Like, they were running and jumping and doing normal mouse stuff, whatever that was. |
Anyone can claim :) Kai had noticed this archway earlier while getting herself a plate of food. It didn't look odd to a glance but, once upon it there was an engraving at the top of the archway. Was this the simulation? The best way to find out was to step in she figured. The archway reacted upon her entrance and her eyes were greeted with an ordinary British street and nothing seemed immediately out of place besides the time of day. She stepped forward to explore and see what she could unveil. |

Hmmm the women seemed to be around her age. She could approach her. She observed that she was twiddling her thumbs on her wand and she seemed nervous. She cleared her throat and asked, "Seems like I am not the only one nervous.." she grinned. "I am Jasmine by the way.." she introduced herself. Jasmine had the feeling she was important like a boss like important but she could be wrong. |
SPOILER!!: Oh, Jasmine... Lynley noticed the woman approaching her, but didn't make a movement to reply until the woman was close. Hmph--wait...what? She gave the other women SUCH a judgmental look, it was a miracle Lynley hadn't audibly scowled. "No. I am not nervous...not even a little. I'm more impatient. I was waiting to see if someone wanted to do this with me...I suppose you're the lucky winner," she said dryly, not bothering to crack a smile. Lynley...nervous? Seriously? She wondered what the woman thought NERVOUS even looked like. "You're nervous? You'll be fine. You seem competent for now." For now was the key word. Jasmine....right. Lynley held out her free hand. "Lynley Purcell. Transportation's new head." Indeed. "You're lucky to have found me." She was speaking the facts. The woman really was, especially if she was nervous. |

"So the challenges aren't too bad..." she said starting off. "The first challenge is the alleyway." she took a big gulp and asked her, "Are you ready to do this?" She just wanted her prepared is all, she didn't want to catch her off guard. |
SPOILER!!: Jasmine Lynley smirked a little at the snark. "A tone? I'm sorry...if it seemed like I had a tone. That is my normal tone, I assure you." Hehe. She could appreciate sass. Also, though, this woman seemed VERY impressed by her...well...job title. That was interesting. Respect...hmm. She wasn't sure if she liked this woman, or not. But respect was...important, certainly. "No, they don't. This should be challenging but fun." She said as she squinted over. "Once we step into the archway, I think the challenges begin...and yes, I'm ready..." she said softly, and she actually smiled, encouragingly, before stepping through, the scenery around them DRASTICALLY changing... Right. An alleyway? No...just a random street...definitely a British street. "...everything seems normal...so far..." |

Perfect she was ready, Jasmine took a deep calming breath to try and shake out all her nerves. She didn't know why she was nervous. As she stepped with she didn't even know her name. Jasmine wanted to clear it up, "I am Jasmine by the way.." as they stepped through the scenery and she felt it change. Hmmm they were both in an alleyway. Jasmine looked around to see if anything was gonna pop out at them. "Yeah normal sooo far.." she said to assure herself. As Jasmine began to walk up the alleyway she noticed dogs, cats staring at them. "Do you see those dogs and cats?" she asked to make sure she wasn't being tricked. |

"But you see, this mouse is minding its own business even though there are humans around. I think an Animagus would want to run away or SOMETHING if it is about to be discovered." she explained, wondering if she was being logical. It sounded about right, anyway. "If only there is a charm that could help reveal human presences…" she trailed off, a spell coming to mind. What was the incantation again? |
