"That's MY name." Like excuse you. Olly spoke from a little further down the line but she'd heard that guy say her name. And there was literally no way he had the same name as she did. Okay there WAS but seriously, how unlikely was that? She tried to glance around the person in front of her to get a better look at whoever had just tried to register with HER name instead of his own.

He was probably insane or something. Security threat anyone?

So...this was a bit lame, yeah?

Penelope didn't know about anyone else, but she personally enjoyed the fun, slightly extravagant, formal orientation parties. She enjoyed dressing up every now and then, and she especially would've liked it this year since she, for once, actually had someone she would've liked to bring with her to this. But of course, now it had to be something completely different.

Meh. Whatever.

The only bright spot was that at least she'd get to do some training...sorta. Wasn't the exciting kind, but at least it was something.

She gave her other coworkers a quick "Hey," and nod in greeting before settling into her spot to help out with the wand weighing and stuff.

Everything seemed to check out, so the woman could have her wand back with no problem. "Everything looks good. Here's the orientation package too," she continued, holding out the package to her.

Hmm? Penelope caught a bit of Alexa questioning some guy about the names he'd given - the wrong names, probably, because one was a department head and the other was someone Penelope had graduated with. It was possible his name could be Olly too, but what were the odds of that?

Especially since the other one was actually here.

Olly worked here now too? Huh. Interesting.

"Yeah, I can confirm that's Olly," she offered. They'd never been close or anything, but Penelope could at least recognize her. And the wand weigher machine thing would further confirm it too once she reached the desk.

So who was that guy?

And in addition to that...who was that other guy over there holding up a medallion of sorts? Selling things? Here? Now? Was this part of those exercises and what-not over there, or something else?

Very suspicious. She'd be keeping an eye on him.

"Oh, thank you." Tala smiled, taking the package and eyeing the contents with interest before turning her attention back to the witch and wizard and the discussion of her precious wand.

What was it with English Witches and Wizards and their weird magical devices that ether A; did something cool, or B; did something terrible and possibly life ruining? Was it some kind of joke maybe? Dry British Humor? Tala pondered on this as the young woman spoke, saying that there was a chance of the machine being about to break down any second in a very blunt, but very calm way.

It reminded her of Abbi actually, the way the Jersey girl would dish out good and bad news with the same deadpan snark. Funny. "Right... Yeah... Okay." Not wholly reassured, Tala still allowed the process to be done, watching as the scanned and weighed, making all manner of funny little noises that caused the blonde's lips to tug in a slightly reluctant smile.

Well, that wasn't so bad at all. She'd been worried over nothing, Tala thought as she smiled and thanked the man, taking back her wand and tucking it safely behind her ear. "Thank you again, have a good day you two!"

Honestly, she would have liked to stuck around and bit and try to figure out where she knew the blonde deadpan girl but the line was long and it would be rude to hog up all their time.

She'd be sure to find her again, later when everything had settled down.

For now, she had peers to meet.

Hazel Ward was excited. Happy, ecstatic, butterfly type excited. She was back working at the Ministry. She had her Master’s degree under her belt. She had a house, and a family and home was almost, so super close to being perfect. And to top all of that off, her little brother Logan had come home, deciding to work at the British Ministry rather than the French one. How could life be so good to her. She smiled at the thought, her thumb moving over the skin of Mammy’s hand.

Looking to the woman who was walking next to her and she couldn’t help the soft, gentle smile that came over her lips. Yup, she was a lucky woman.

”Feels nice to be back.” She said to Margaret, as they moved towards the wand weighing stations. However, her silence didn’t last very long when she saw her brother in front of them. ”Lo!” She called out, nowhere near shouting, just slightly raised. With a grin she waved at him, distracting him slightly from the brunette who he was talking to. What was he doing? She thought, looking towards Mammy to see if she had any idea.

They slowly progressed towards those who were weighing their wands, and she handed her over when asked.

Naturally, Aron took notice of Simon's presence and offered the man a nod in greeting and - in all likeliness - would have given him a slightly more enthusiastic grunt of a greeting had it not been for the Cambridge girl being all ridiculously and gushy again. He would be lying if he did not enjoy having his ego stroked, and willingly allowed her to nick his wand mind twirl, and Seren certainly got a kick out of the stories he would bring home.

"I will certainly keep that in mind," he winked while holding out his hand for his wand back. "And hopefully no attempts are made on my life today. I pity the fool who tries with you on call."

Nothing like stroking the little YATI's ego back, yeah? Even if it was for his own amusement. Besides, he would rather enjoy watching her tackle someone trying to get close to him at a function like this under false pretenses. Would certainly throw some excitement into these stuffy serious things.

"Ah yes, I got the memo earlier about your hire," he nodded. Couldn't say he was terribly sad to see the former leave. She had always rubbed him the wrong way. Like that discussion they had had over lunch a while back. He could just tell she was trying to provoke him into saying something he didn't mean. "How are you..." But before he could finish his thought his eyes wandered to one of the new recruits.

Who was now offering the new Transportation Head some rubbish medallion and cocked an eyebrow.

"...what in goosegrass' name is this all about?"

And way to offer it to a woman first. Holy holly help him.

Jasmine heard the Ministry was giving orientation but she didn't need it quite yet. I mean she was an old employee of this ministry. She did work in the Environmental for a while and then changed to A&C. She loved her new floor because she was doing something she loved. As she entered the floor, she realized there was a line to check their wands. Siiiiggghssss this was normal for checking in. She rolled her eyes and was now forced to wait on this line. She saw some people she kind of knew and some new people she never ever seen before. She even saw her boss here. She wondered what he was doing here? Ah well.

She didn't want to intrude on conversations because that wasn't Jasmine. She stood there quietly just waiting to get her wand looked at.

Greg wasn't even sure why he came to these things anymore other than his job title had the phrase 'Director' in front of it and it meant some sort of obligation thing. Waiting in line to get in he spotted Amethyst and watched as she worked a small smile on his face. To think, two years ago he met her at an orientation and now they were living together and..well had other things going on as well that they hadn't told anyone about yet.

While he waited he made a mental checklist of things he was supposed to do before he came here which was the reason he hadn't come with her in the first place. Well..that and only a handful of people knew they were together. As he approached he held his wand out hoping one of the security people would take it and smirked at Amethyst. "Ms. McCrae...a pleasure to see you as always." He couldn't help but give her a grin.

She stepped up and looked at the woman with a small smile and nodded to the girl. Chelle brushed her hair back, feeling a bit silly for not knowing exactly what was going on with all of this... She knew she was supposed to get her badge and everything... but she had no idea what that machine was supposed to do to her wand.

"Here you are." Chelle gave a very small smile, handing her wand over to Lex. She paused, was she supposed to give her name? She really didn't know. The former Ravenclaw sighed silently, probably looking like a fool, "I'm Chelle, by the way, Chelle Mercada."

Kai returned the young woman's smile graciously upon her approach. "Afternoon and thank you." She accepted the package, placing her hand upon it. Starter stuff? She looked the package over curiously and then met the girls eyes again. Department? "Thank you much. Accidents and Catastrophes." She hoped that she could fix accidents and catastrophes, she supposed she would find out soon.

Her gaze drifted toward the machine as she reluctantly played with the bloom that was the handle of her wand. Biting her lower lip lightly she relinquished her wand to the young woman. If anything happened to her wand she wasn't sure how she would handle it.

Mammy Ward was a just tad less excited than the woman next to her. Granted, she was thrilled that Hazel had joined the ministry, and come to find out her step-brother also, but that didn't excuse the fact that she had to wake up for this event. On the last of her days off. Did anyone even realize how warm and soft her bed was that morning??

Like a cloud on a perfect summer day...

"Feels nice to have you here," she smiled in return, traces of sleep still present in her voice. Give her five hours, she'd eventually wake up. Speaking of brothers however, she glanced over to where Hazel had waved, not missing the look the woman had given her.

Oh, Logan. What a lovely surprise.

Smirkity smirk smirk.

"Hey LOGAN!" she called, "You tryin' to sell those fuzz monkey medallions again?"

For real though, what was it? It was shiny and cool and she wanted one.

Linda smiled as she retrieved her wand from her bag and handed it to the woman. "It is my first time here. Oh, my name is Linda Elizabeth Manning."

Linda thanked the woman when she received her orientation package.

He felt eyes on him. His junior years working at the French ministry had taught him to keep a vigilant eye on those around him, even if Logan also did that out of genuine interest in people and their difference in appearance. It was fascinating that not one person in this room looked totally alike the person next to them. Letting his gaze wander over in the direction of the table near the big and ugly machine he saw a woman but if she had been the one giving him looks remained to be seen. Logan shot her a smile nonetheless.



"Lo!" He knew that voice anywhere. Turning around slightly from the brunette he was talking to Logan’s face cracked up into an excited beam at the sight of his sister and Mammy which he waved to with a free hand. "Haze, Mammy! I thought you had already gone past the security check point?" But he knew how much time especially his big sis wasted on making sure that she looked absolutely stunning so it was entirely possible that they had just arrived for the event. "Isn't it exciting that we are going to be working in the same building?" And not be divided by an ocean and country borders. It was good to be home again.



'Goosegrass??' What did that mean? Logan wondered confused. Resolving that the man probably had directed the question at him rather than the brunette, he held up the medallion in the light as he spoke. "I'm just offering out some free medallions to ensure better self-protection in these unrestful times. Is it not our duties as employees of the Ministry to make sure that everyone can go about their day feeling protected and safe even if we are all skilled wizards and witches?"

He read the Prophet and even if Logan didn't believe everything he read he didn’t think it was bad if he handed these lovely looking things to his new colleagues. They were after all tried and tested with good results.



Spotting a woman that looked over at was he misinterpreted as his direction Logan impulsively waved to her calling out "Hello, would you like a free medallion for self-protection? It doubles as a lovely necklace that will heighten any dress or outfit you might want to wear." Hopefully if this woman came over and accepted a medallion he wouldn’t need to win everyone over.



While his attention had been momentarily diverted by other people Mammy and Hazel had come closer to where he was standing. A hurt feeling crossed and left his face just as quickly as he called over to Mammy to correct her since he knew she was just teasing him as usual. "I'm not selling medallions I'm giving them away for free and they are cool and useful for protection."

"You know you want one!" Logan said. He had a special one with a skull that he knew that Mammy would love but he kept it in his pocket for now.

Ms. Jordan seemed to be fine with his and Lex's assurances that nothing would go wrong. And it didn't. She accepted it back and took her leave, leaving the resting of the line to be handled. Lex had moved on and the other YATI appeared to be quite willing to jump into things. And handling themselves well. He was just missing one as Simon took note that Tyler hadn't made an appearance as of yet.

The security man wondered what could be up when he was interrupted by the sight of a new employee going up to a man he believed to be the new department head for transportation and trying to offer something to him. A few others seemed to be connected to him and Simon opted to come from behind the desk to check on things.

"Excuse me...may I see one of those?" he asked, hand already ready to take it off the man. Cue suspicious law man checking to make sure something wasn't off.

Oh boy.. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy..

Did anyone else feel this kind of excitement coming in to an orientation. Well, this young man did. Luc was headed straight for the gate first thing. Some stuff was going to happen right after, right? He was doing his best to contain it since this was a serious job. Very serious as- Oh! Was that the chocolate frog loving Alexa he saw??

His hand rose a litle because he was going to do some serious waaaaving. But wait. Serious. Yes. He could do that. He wasn't just a regular old student anymore as he lowered his hand. Just a simple, "Hey," Seem to be right thing to do. Nice and calm as he waited by the gate.

Tyler meeting each person to the ministry with a grunt and a hand motion forward towards him. He wasn't much of a talker and that was evident to all who tried to strike up a conversation with him. All responses were a series of grunts and stares.

Wand weighing was certainly not fun or held any excitement in any weigh. Ugh he'd give anything for dark wizard in disguise with a stolen wand.

Simon acknowledged his grunted greeting with a polite nod and briefly watched as the YATi simply moved to help with the wand weighing. At least the young man was being helpful and working and not offering any smart remarks as he had the habit of doing sometimes. The security man would take a grunting, staring trainee over someone running the risk of annoying the ones they were supposed to be simply greeting.

There was a newcomer at the area and Simon opted to slip back into helping. "Hello," he greeted to the hey he was given, the young man seeming awkward and so new. "Welcome to the ministry," he said as he acknowledged him and went to work. He could only do so much observing. "May I have your name and your wand please."

Most of the people behind the desk looked familiar to him to be honest. He had been to a different country for the past three years, and the faces before him made his memory bank shuffle in excitement. That guy over there...he was sure he’d seen him during his first year in Hogwarts...he was a Gryffindor prefect, if he’s not mistaken...and just a few steps away from that guy was...wait. Is that Stonewall? He was pals with Oakey back then, so he was in his year. They probably talked before, but he was not that close to the former Hufflepuff compared to Gunter.

And the young spunky lady who was now asking for his wand? Yes. Awfully familiar. He automatically associated that face with Fischer, whom he always saw with Ella, Theo and his gang. Yes...yes. He knows her. And there was something else that he forgot...

She...she was obsessed with something back in school.

“I suppose you still like Chocolate Frogs?” Mordred’s memory clicked as soon as he pictured a moving candy shaped like a frog...and a debate about chocolate frogs being pets. That would be Fisher, right? Mordred exhaled as he grinned at the person in front of him and surrendered his wand. Who would’ve thought that the Ministry would be some sort of a mini-Hogwarts reunion for them, eh?

The Ministry. That meant Sophie had a proper job and that she would get paid to do Charms! WHAT IN THE WORLD COULD BE BETTER THAN THIS???

Oh, except being there with Mordred. Which she was, so this was perfection.

Sophie couldn't help but wave and smile at pretty much everyone that looked at her because she was SO excited to be there. EEEEP, imagine if she saw someone she kne-

"Jory!!" Sophie did refrain herself from yelling his name as she waved happily at her former housemate. This was a professional place, after all, and she was professional. She actually was. She wanted to go talk to Jory, though, because it had been SO LONG!!! She hesitated a bit, a split of second in which she might've looked really silly as she stood there, one side going towards Jory, the other side staying with her husband and turning towards- "Alexa!! Hi!!!!" ALEXA CAMBRIDGE!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, the entire Hogwarts castle was there?? ...Of course not, but how BRILLIANT was this??? "Long time no see!! How are you??" dsjkfnsjklfd Would Alexa weight her wand then? How EXCITING!

Oh wait. Professional environment. Sophie was a professional.

Did that mean she couldn't hold Mordred's hand? She... wasn't sure. She hoped she could. Because she was. Hehe?

Okay, she could wait for her turn. UGH, could they get to the orientation bit? Wait, would they have time to chat there? She wanted to catch up with both Jory and Alexa! And if she got to see more of her former Hogwars mates!!! Sophie was even MORE excited now!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!

Cool, he was next after all. Luc wondered if Vicky was around here somewhere, but then again she was busy. So he could find her another time if not now.

Anyways, his own smile brightened at the help, "Luc." Which was short for, "Lucio Serge Auditore." Oh right the wand. Now where was it? He gave himself a quick pat down before whipping it out of his pocket. "Here we are." Before handing it over. He was beginning to feel pretty official. Which was cool. It calmed him down a bit. Just a bit, heh.

Oh, a line. How lovely.

Lysander approached the mass of people swarming around the new employee intake desk, a crowd resembling a hive of overly excited, overly nervous little bees. He could practically sense the nerves radiating off of them. Sigh. His thick eyebrows rose just barely over the large glasses frames he wore crookedly on his nose as he took his place in line, waiting until many of them scurried off to who knows where.

As he began to gather his wand and other necessary belongings for check in, he listened in as the others spoke, wondering vaguely who he might be forced to share an office space with. He hoped silently that he might find an enclosed space upstairs just for him and his many supplies, but had a sinking feeling that wouldn't be the case. He glanced up towards the service desk, tapping his foot quietly without realizing it. How long would this take?

She wasn't taking her eyes off this one for a second. He was either confused or terrible at deception, neither of which worked well for him right about now when Law Enforcement had some strict orders to follow. Lex didn't know much about the Department Heads unless they were hers, the quackjob creature lady or Aron so the Emmalee was only a toss up on the fact it was a woman's name. Olly was a bit arbitrary...until there was an actual Olly Clarke in the line.

Alexa waved her up to the front of the line, gave her a once over then nodded. "Yup. Me too. That's Olly." Unless there was some polyjuice in play but how random would that be when Olly'd never been in the Ministry records before that she knew of.

She looked to Penelope then the guy then Penelope again. "What'd you reckon we should do with him?" Did Rainey mention protocol for imposters?

Oh! Also. "While you're up here, can I have your wand?" She didn't even KNOW Olly applied. How neat was that?



The machine was moving too fast. If it kept this up he would have to step out of the line then she would lose him to all the orienation festivities. How was that even fair? Here's to hoping Rainey slated her for Level 3 patrols again...if not she'd still be going there anyway. Ahem.

See that? Already had to be giving it back. With a reluctant sigh, Lex fished the wand from the machine and placed it back in his hand.

"Here you go!--" And there was the grin again. Did everyone else hear that? He pitied anyone that tried getting to him while she was there and rightly so. She wasn't just a first year Auror anymore, she had EXPERIENCE. "Trust me, that makes the two of us! Been hard at training if you'll believe it."

Also, did that rude lady NOT see her talking to the gorgeous man? How. Very. Rude. Alexa made a point of leaning over the desk, firmly inserting herself a little more. "So, Mr. Ashburry-Hawthorne, did'ja have a good winter? How's Bentley?" Excuse you lady, she was here first.



Alexa took the wand when it was offered and fed it to the machine eagerly. First time machine use tended to fall into the eager category, didn't it? How was one NOT enchanted with this thing?

While she waited, Lex levitated an orientation package over to her and slid it across to the woman. "You'll find the basic starter stuff in there, including a badge." Ones they'd had to make earlier before the guests started arriving. It had all been lovely in truth, finally fully being back at work, only thing now was wondering where her partner was. He did know he was meant to show up, yeah?

With the machine done, she checked the name that came up, verifying it matched the one provided and had nothing additionally floating around. "Right then...I think that's it." She handed her her wand again with a smile. "Enjoy the afternoon and welcome again!"



Now THAT was hardly fair--not that Lex would have opted to switch departments EVER but at the same time, the people who got Level 3 were a bunch of lucky sods, even when most didn't know it. Well, she knew and was like to do as she wanted on the matter. "Reckon we might get along real great. The name's Lex by the way. Magical Law Enforcement 2nd Year YATI." If she even knew what that meant. Didn't matter, this wasn't about her right now. It was about befriending people from Level 3 so she could have more reasons to stop by that level.

Brilliant plan if you asked her. Alexa took the wand when it was offered and fed it to the machine. While she waited, her focus shifted once again to this one. "I'll be needing your name too, for verification and all." With a nod toward the machine by way of explanation.

"So what division'd you get inside A&C?" Asking all the questions. See how much she CAREDnot??



Linda Elizabeth Manning. Right. That's the name she'd be expecting from the machine. "It's always sorta a little overwhelming when you just start out, especially in such a huge place like this one. You might like it, depending on the department and all." No one said she had to leave her personal biases at home...so she didn't.

A moment later the beep of the machine caught her attention and drew her back to the machine. Lex leaned over, reading the name and the description before plucking the wand and handing it back to her. "Everything seems normal. You're all cleared. Enjoy the orientation."

In all the crowding that was starting to happen at the desk it was safe to say that if he hadn't raised his hand at all, Lex might not have seen him. As it was, she DID see him and recognized him immediately too--mostly because one did not forget someone that gave you a bunch of chocolate frogs in one go.

Good times.

"Hey! I didn't know you'd be coming to the Ministry. What department?" Last she'd seem him he was preparing for exams and now here he was. Shame Simon got to him first but it was all the same, her plate was rather full at the moment, as proven by the person whose wand she was currently weighing.

When would this end?



It was for real though, she was trying to put her finger on it because this guy DID seem real familiar and it would bother her if she never figured out why. By now she was sure it was Hogwarts...Slytherin, which narrowed it down quite a bit. In her earlier years it was either she liked that sort or she did NOT. No in between. Anger wasn't the first thing she felt, looking at his face which automatically meant he wasn't one of those she avoided desperately.

It was when one SOPHIE MORDAUNT showed up that she realized.

Yes yes, of course, it was all making sense now. Mhm. "O'course I do." She replied to his question with a grin as she accepted his wand. "You'd never believe it but the dessert bar in the food court actually sells them. I'll never have to go without." WHICH WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST.

Her grin remained as she looked next to Sophie. "I'm great! Training to be an Auror--gonna be Head Auror one day but you know, baby steps while while I get certified." Gave Legend way enough time to retire...just saying since death was now partially off the table.

"Oh! Before I forget." She levitated two packages from the pile and slid them across the desk to the two. "These are for you, you'll find your badges and some starter stuff in there." The big question was, "What departments?"

Jasmine saw a man waving at her. She tilted her head in confusion and wondered why was this guy waving at me? She began to look anywhere but at him but then he was getting closer. Ah great what did he want? He seemed to be like a merchant or something. She put on a forced smile and wondered what he had in his hand. "Hi..." she greeted him but she heard that he was giving away medallions? Medallions for self protection? She didn't believe it at all. She can hear her mother quoting, "Do not accept anything from strangers to protect you from curses!"

She wanted to let him down kindly. "Oh no thank you.." she told him. "I am just here to get my wand checked out." she motioned her head towards the desk.

He could not, for the life of him, remember her name. His bad memory when it comes to names was probably one of the many reasons why he didn’t pursue a career in the Law Enforcement. It was a good thing that his wife had finally made it to the checkpoint, and literally called out the names he was desperately trying to fish out from his memory bank. Stonewall, Jory. Got it.

It didn’t take long for Sophie to blurt out the lady’s name in front of them. Alexa. Alexa Cambridge, Alice Fisher.

Mordred grinned as he felt Sophie’s hand in his. He had to prevent himself from chuckling because, they were in a somewhat formal place right now. He did squeeze her hand a bit to calm his wife down. Mordred couldn’t tell if she was nervous or excited, or both.

The happy mood stayed as he addressed Alexa back. “That is good news then. How is your training so far?” Shouldn’t hurt to make some small talk with a former Hogwartian, right? To be honest, he was more at ease when talking to an alumna.

Mordred nodded as he eyed the starter kits before them. “Sophie’s in Accidents and Catastrophes, and I’m in Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.” Seriously, they could just owl those kits to them and get down to work.

"I'm going to be working in the Minister's office as a Media Liaison," Linda replied as she put her wand back in her bag. "Should be interesting," Linda said, more to herself. She once again thanked the woman and bid farewell to her.

Especially since Logan had charmed it to bark frighteningly like a pack of wolves among other things.

Lynley was minding her own business, people watching. She absentmindedly played with the necklace that hung about her chest, but...she wasn't prepared for the voice that was clearly speaking to her.

Oh, he was speaking to her.

Lynley let her gaze glide over him...before it registered...He's....talking...to me. To....me. Lynley Purcell. What? Why? Did she looked like she wanted to be approached for some....excuse for a protection medallion? She tried her best not to sneer. No, Lynley kept her face generally passive.

"Excuse you--protection from what? Where did these medallions come from? Are they regulated? Safe? Why should I trust you? They could be cursed--you could be infiltrating our event--" she said coldly, not taking a medallion. Not at all. Nope.

Lynley was pleased she could turn to Aron for....a more stimulating form of conversation. Merlin. Did she really think those medallions were cursed? Not really. But still...it never hurt to be careful.

She was also pleased he had apparently heard of her hire. Oh, to be important. It was lovely.

"Had you? Well good." She said with a glance back at the..medallion boy. And how was she what? The other department head was just as bamboozled by this guy, too, then it seemed? "...Medallions, apparently. I don't trust them. Or him." she said bluntly, but more to mess with the young man. He looked harmless. Lynley just smirked wickedly, though, and brushed a stray strand of her hair from her face. "Where's security? We should have these checked."
