Addison might have been running a tad bit late today. Just a tad on the simple account that her son wasn't at all fond of being left at home. The nine year old boy had wanted to come along and put up a much larger fuss about not being able to then she would have liked and into the end she had simply walked out. There wasn't much she could've done about the situation really as she had to be here.
So here she was a little off schedule but very much presentable. Smoothing a hand over the front of her dress Addy cast a quick glance at her brother whom was with her. "It doesn't appear we're to late and things seem to be under control and running smoothly," she commented softly taking a quick look around. People were mingling and the Goody Bags were being given out as well as the new employees being helped to settle in.
"See I told you it wouldn't make much difference if we were a tad bit late," Evan remarked with a light grin. His reason for being late was simple as well, he had left his infant twins in the care of his older children and had wanted to make sure the babies were settled in first. Parenthood was very different when you were starting out from the babies birth rather then with a near three year old whom was already very independent. None the less he left the twins behind and was now here accompanied by not only his sister but also his wife. Wherever the women might have gone off to already he wasn't sure. Probably mingling with friends or something like that.

She was definitely note late to this thing; everyone else was simply early! Besides, she was now considered a "returning employee" having survived ONE WHOLE year of working at the Ministry, to which Chloe was thrilled about. The ginger may have even went a little overboard for the occasion with purchasing a new dress and new shoes, but hey, she had money now and felt good!
Approaching over to the goodie bag table first, the nineteen year old stopped just before reaching the table to pick up her bag of freebies as she spotted him. Her former housemate and partner-in-crime. And was he really seriously wearing JEANS?!? She knew he was planning on taking a year off after Hogwarts, but she didn't realize the year had given her friend such a LAID BACK attitude. LIKE more than ever.
"Evening Ms Purcell," Chloe greeted like the shining employee that was. She then turned toward Archer. "Archer Stark. Follow me." Because was she was totally going to march his bottom right out of the room and transfigure his attire into something appropriate. Magic was a wonderful invention.
To say that Archer was glad to see Chloe was an understatement. They hadn't seen each other since the previous year, back in Weasley's and it was honestly a relief to see a familiar face around here.
His relief was short-lived, however, when it became apparent that Chloe herself was also less than pleased with his attire. . . cementing the idea that Brits were way too stiff when it came to things like this. And since Chloe had always been the 'Mom' of their group back in school, it seemed only natural for her to take it upon herself to get him 'fixed'.
Archer only managed a quick wave to the suited-bloke (Jonas) before he was unceremoniously dragged away by Chloe, most likely to be murdered for his jeans on behalf of Boss-Lady. He couldn't help but smile when they were outside the busy room, he even did a little whistle when he surveyed her own outfit for the night. "Damn, Hothead. You clean up nice." she certainly looked professional. "Well, I'm sure your boyfriend of the week will be pleased with it." Her babies as well, as she mentioned last year.
"You know, you didn't have to be such a suck-up in front of the boss. . . she isn't Flamsteed. . . " If she was, Archer would have gotten a horrified look and a detention when he said that suits were equivalent to monkey-costumes. . .
Did she seriously just come here to criticize his jeans, call him a child, threaten him with some list and then just SHOVE right past him??!!
With a frustrated sign, Archer watched his new 'boss' walk away, a little bit pleased to see her go. But their first meeting only proved what he was dreading the most, that this job was going to suck, suck majorly.
He turned back to Emmalee and gave her a small smile, "Thanks for the, um, stuff I guess."Much appreciated. It would be even more appreciated if you could forget what just happened here. . . He was about to walk away (hopefully to find some kind of bar), when another man appeared at the table asking him for the IDs. Newbie too. This one was smarter about his clothing choice, which made Archer feel even more foolish about this whole ordeal. "Uhm yeah. Just give Emmalee over here your name and she'll get it for you." He included his head towards the woman when he spoke, in case this bloke couldn't figure out who Emmalee was.
"If you're working in Transport, you'll be pleased to hear that the boss will love your clothes. And just a heads up if you are, she has a thing against jeans and people breathing in her general-direction." Archer envied him if he worked in Accidents, cause that boss seemed cool as hell. . .
Jonas gave the boy...man...a charming grin. "Thanks, buddy." Nice kid. He was just about head away to collect his badge and and all that when the kid kept speaking. "Uh, no. I'm with Magical Creatures. But nice to hear someone will appreciate my clothes." Malcolm had made a face when he saw what Jonas was wearing. "Which department are...?" Before he could finish asking which department the kid was in, someone else, rather stern-like, came and collected him. Poor kid.
With a shrug, Jonas turned toward the woman the kid had pointed out. Emmalee? Or something like that. He made his way over to her and politely waited to be noticed. "Are you who we get our badges from?"
The first thing she did was check in and get her temporary ID. Sakura worried if she didn't then random security would come to her and drag her out by her arms, her heals dragging behind. It was a very plausible and real scenario.
Brushing a hand down her pretty gown - the one her parents sent her because they didn't hate her and still loved her very much even if she did move out before finding a husband - she wandered toward the goodies table. She peeked into a few bags, curious to see if they were all the same or not. And they were. It was fair but disappointing. She took one anyway.
Goody bag in hand, she made her way towards the food, accidentally bumping on someone on her way.
Oops.
"Zooorry!"
Oops, oops.
Logan was running a tad late. It wasn't his fault. He had been called out to a case on the day before they were officially back to work. Dressed in a steel blue suit for the evening and new shoes that probably were going to give him shoe ache Logan headed towards the goody bags table. He also intended to get his new ID badge and secuirty clearance as was custom after the christmas holidays before finding something to drink.
He inwardly groaned at the sight of the long queue ahead of him to the different points of interest. Hoepfully Logan would encounter someone from his department that he could converse with like Kai or Megan while he awaited his turn.
Logan lost all trains off thoughts as someone bumped into him causing him to feel a sharp sting of pain in his right shoulder. Massaging it his eyes soon met that off an unfamiliar woman which caused him to reply automatically. "Apology accepted. Accidents happen." Gesturing to the bag in her hand he asked curiously. "Is there anything in the bag that is worth waiting in the queue for?"
Mention of Macadrian too cause couldn't resist ^_^

In the process of dragging Archer off to fix his attire, Chloe did happen to overhear a name she didn't think she would ever hear. Macadrian Shackleton. Her mother's arithmancy teacher and head of house ?? Could that be? Wanting to find out but also needing to worry about Archer too, Chloe took a moment to take in the woman's appearance before finishing leading Archer away...she could return to finding Ms Shackleton for inquiries later. Fixing her friend was more a priority.
Yes Chloe knew that Archer was not going to be pleased with her for dragging him off but he would most likely thank her later for saving him from the embarrassment (no doubt included an extra snog) ... But she did roll her eyes when he whistled at her attire. Did boys ever grow up? Judging from her brothers she doubted so but on the other hand, Logan seemed well put together.
"Tell me something I don't know, but seriously, Archer. This isn't Hogwarts..." Chloe sighed removing her wand from its handy holster within her tiny bag. Yes she chose to ignore the boyfriend of the week comment because he very well knew her relationship status. With precise flick and a nonverbal incantation, Chloe transfigured his casual attire into something more presentable.
He had a lot to learn it seemed... Chloe shook her head; "You're right. Lynley Purcell is most definitely NOT Flamsteed which is more reason to show her respect. It's not sucking up, but need I remind you that unlike Hogwarts, we are getting PAID to be here. Our time is no longer free, which means we need to act like we deserve the the paycheck we getting. Which starts with that attitude." Okay so maybe she'd gotten a little Ravenclaw over the last year, but her best friend was a ravenclaw so it's hardly surprising she had some in her.

Taking out her wand, Evie shrunk the bag and tucked it into her clutch.
.... "I like your dress," she said to the girl next to her. Because meeting people was part of making friends.

Sakura was so relieved she did not get yelled at. She was a second away from stepping on it and walking away as quickly as she could in these heels. Thank her lucky stars the man seemed to understand.
Brown eyes blinked up at him, a small smile stretching her lips into a small smile. "I do not know," she replied with a thick Korean accent. Sakura glanced down at the bag and then back up at the man. "I was about to deposit the items on a table to investigate. I can do it now!" she said excitedly, shoving the bag into the stranger's arms. "You hold the bag, I take things out."

Darwin was pleased to be meeting people in this new environment, it really didn't take long for him to start up a conversation. With young person, who seemed to be on top of the world. "Nice to meet you, Johnson." He smiled, shaking this young man's hand. "I'm new here too, what department you in? He asked with a nod.
Darwin let out a laugh once Johnson's dancing enthusiasm rubbed off on him. "Hey neither can I, my running man game is strong!" He laughed and gave him and the rest of the world around here and preview of his running man dance move. "You look about ready to slip on those dancing shoes and get going." Darwin teased, perhaps a dancing competition? Hmm, he was competitive at times. Hehe.

Now with the way he was smiling at her and making her heart canter like a herd of graceful unicorns across the plains. Rendered speechless, Kiera pushed up on her tip toes so she could leave a soft kiss on his cheek.
Eyes still locked on the wardrobe dispute, Kiera nodded her head and allowed Atticus to guide her away from the scene. She would have found his ability to read into her needs incredibly attractive, as if he were not already ideal in her mind, were she not still a bit overwhelmed by the loud voice.
Sometimes it truly was a wonder she survived growing up in the Flamsteed household.

The t-shirt, though. Ivy was amused and would most definitely be shrinking that and letting her dog wear it. He could be property of the ministry, if they'd take him. Proper destroyer of possessions, that dog. She loved him but Merlin. Thank goodness he was cute.
Glancing down at her dress, Ivy smiled and then looked up again. "My mum sent it. Said if I was going to make a name for myself, I'd better dress to impress. Not sure it's my color, though..." Oh well, couldn't really do anything about that now. "Yours is brilliant. Definitely a head turner." Which was a compliment, by the way.
"I'm Ivy Bettencourt." Holding out her hand to the woman, she smiled that curious smile of hers. "Newest member of ministry security."

"I think the color is great on you. Your mum did a great job." Mom's had a great way of knowing what was best for their daughters.
She smiled again at the compliment and glanced down at her dress. "Thanks. My mum helped too." She felt good in this dress, too.
"Pleasure," Evie replied, shaking the woman's hand when she offered it. "And welcome. I'm Evangeline Shacklebolt. I'm in the youth auror training initiative, second year." And excited to continue. Very excited.
Toni once again, taking the line, it's seem very long first, but now she is the front.
Toni didn't know, what she may say. 'hello, I'm Toni Hunters - Magical Law Enforcement' Toni say, then added. 'Not so new, just arrived from an assignment outside UK', *grinning wide*

First really real job, and she didn't know a soul, and her mother made her wear a dress that she was afraid was far too dressy for this event. Or not dressy enough. Or like... wrong? She was just generally sure that she was wrong. It was hard to put her finger on it, but she was.
Carrigan fidgeted briefly with the hem of her dress before practicing her calming and centering meditation. She was fine. This was easy.
Her shoes were pinchy. That was true. Her stomach was growling. True. The room smelled like floor cleaner and perfume. Also true. And someone was a bit too liberal with their scent.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly so other than occasionally handing out a bag or id to someone to help keep the line moving, Simon wasn’t remaining on the edge. His attention did get caught however as a young woman talking to Evangeline, one of the returning YATI mentioned security. Ah, so a new employee of his had made an appearance. His braining working to connect her with what he remembered from his personnel files.
The older man debated stepping in before a woman more his own age reached the front of the line introducing herself as MLE as well.
His employee could be met later. When it wasn’t an interruption.
“Welcome Miss Winters,” he returned, realizing there was an air about her that wasn’t total stranger. An air explained as she continued to speak. “Well then welcome back,” he added, offering a bag instead of an id since she should still hold her current one.

"This line isn't optimized for efficiency," she tried conversation. It was... not a very good attempt at conversation, was it? Carrigan cleared her throat and tried returning the woman's smile, although her teeth felt like they were sticking to her lips. Smiling was hard.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly so other than occasionally handing out a bag or id to someone to help keep the line moving, Simon wasn’t remaining on the edge. His attention did get caught however as a young woman talking to Evangeline, one of the returning YATI mentioned security. Ah, so a new employee of his had made an appearance. His braining working to connect her with what he remembered from his personnel files.
The older man debated stepping in before a woman more his own age reached the front of the line introducing herself as MLE as well.
His employee could be met later. When it wasn’t an interruption.
“Welcome Miss Winters,” he returned, realizing there was an air about her that wasn’t total stranger. An air explained as she continued to speak. “Well then welcome back,” he added, offering a bag instead of an id since she should still hold her current one.
"Hunters, Sir", Toni corrected. *trying to look at man's ID card* 'Oh, my been kick as weather now', Toni's thought.
"Oh, thank you very much..." *beaming while taking the bag* "Sir Simon?" Toni say.
Well if you do not have your ID, you will be not posted here as guard, that is Toni do at her last assignment, keeping save the VIPs at Manila, the Philippines.

Rani took a moment to survey the length of the line in front of her, and then sighed. She had to wait a couple more, then? As much as she was a big fan of mingling with others, she wasn't very fond of being kept waiting. However. this was sort of her first day to work and she didn't want to end it on a bad note. The twenty three year old made her way to the end and stood there. Was this really a tradition before the end of a year? She would have to share this with Aanand when she got home later.
Once it was her turn, she smiled at the person in front. "Hello, good day," Rani greeted. "Rani Malhotra, Department of International Magical Cooperation." She retrieved her temporary ID then with a smile, a friendly nod, accompanied by a "Thank you". She then got a goody or swag bag and peeked into it, and laughed a bit at the contents. She took the set of Muggle pencils out. "Very cute." Aanand would say so, at least. How thoughtful, Ministry.

Sakura was so relieved she did not get yelled at. She was a second away from stepping on it and walking away as quickly as she could in these heels. Thank her lucky stars the man seemed to understand.
Brown eyes blinked up at him, a small smile stretching her lips into a small smile. "I do not know," she replied with a thick Korean accent. Sakura glanced down at the bag and then back up at the man. "I was about to deposit the items on a table to investigate. I can do it now!" she said excitedly, shoving the bag into the stranger's arms."You hold the bag, I take things out."

Yelling on a woman he had never met until this day was pointless. But Logan did get the feeling though that, that was exactly the reaction the woman was expecting to get from him. His mother had taught him better than that. And besides a bump was just a bump. It was nothing to get worked up over.
That was odd. Which woman didn't inspect the content of a bag before picking one up? Not one in his family that was for sure. This woman was though not from England though which was made clear by her thick Asian accent. "I'm Logan. I work in Accidents & Catastrophes as an Obliviator." he introduced himself before his arms were suddenly full of the woman's bag. Had he signalled that she could?
Raising a curious brow he asked "What would you be most happy to find in the goody bag? Make up? Jewellery? Food?"
Regina strode confidently and purposefully to the front of the line, past all the chitter chatter of mostly Ministry noobs lining up oh so dutifully. She glanced once behind her to make sure the Kendall girl is keeping up.

Regina gave a curt nod to the Department Heads present-- one seemingly making fun of someone's attire, she'd join in on the heckling if only her covetous little mits wasn’t already itching for what the bags had in store this year.
She grabbed a bag and started to rummage through it and as she did, whatever greedy glint that sparkled in her eyes started to fade, replaced by the most divaesque eyerolling "A t-shirt and a mug? Really? And two coupons to the commissary? Even these are worthless at Diagon." And when she starts comparing value to something as commonplace as Diagon Alley, you know she was disappointed.
She flicked the bag at Kendall and crossed her arms. Maybe the young girl would find better appreciation for the goodies. Or think them counterfeit and they can make arrests. Whatever that could pick up Regina's mood.

While on the outside, Francesca had done all she could to look like a responsible adult, the worries that had plagued her since submitting her application were taking over inside her head. I'm too young, she thought, I can't do this, I can't do this. but they had hired her, right? You'll be fine! she told herself, but she couldn't really bring herself to whole-heartedly agree.
As she navigated the crowd to the table, Francesca stared at the floor, avoiding eye contact with anyone else, pleading that she simply went past unnoticed. She was no longer the friendly person she normally was, Francesca was overwhelmed by everyone too much to start a conversation. Everyone else looked smart, responsible, and not to mention significantly older, so Francesca felt inferior to them all, wishing she had waited just a few more years. She knew she was here for a reason, and she had been hired for the job, but inside she felt like she really didn't deserve it. Oh stop with the rubbish, she told herself. They hired you for a reason, and they want you here.
A temporary burst of confidence in her, Francesca spoke up for the first time that day.
"Francesca Whitewood, Magical Law Enforcement." She said, her voice quite clearly shaky, but she did her best to hide with a half-smile.

Yves didn't know how this works but of course orientations are very important. You get to meet new employees and with that, new friends. Yves knew she had to take a sneak peak of the people she is going to work with. She walked towards the table and smiled at the grab bag. Taking the gift inside she read what was written on the shirt which made her chuckle to herself.
It was a nice one. It is a motivational shirt, she thinks.
Yves then places it back in bag and walked towards the table where she has to sign up and get her temporary i.d. "Penelope Yves Hanley... Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophe" she uttered. Finding time to find her own name and then carefully selecting the one with her name. She can do this. YUP!

Nothing, exactly. A reward for being social. Altair didn't need a reward for being social, but he wasn't about to turn down a goody bag. Free pencils? Don't mind if I do.
Altair joined the line, tapping his fingers on his ID as he did so. He looked around in an attempt to spot anyone familiar. Rita had to be somewhere here, maybe she could save him from boredom while he waited in this line?
Oh hellllllo, familiar face. Sort of. He knew he went to school with her......and that was about it. He eavesdropped listened as she introduced herself to goody bag-person and nodded to himself. Rani was a fan of free pencils too, what a great way to start off. Really. "Whazzup, Rani........remember ME?!
