He was onto the next bit of food to put on his plate to try. Something with chicken. Maybe followed with some cut veggies. Yeah it really had been good for the most part. "Nothing too bad..." he assured her, noticing her quizzical reaction. "Just an interesting relationship there." Between parents and daughter and inlaws and son-in-law by extension. Darn that ex-husband of Angelina's that left some baggage between them, even if he was grateful that relationship didn't work out in the long run.
"Of course...." he agreed with a nod. Family was what allowed him to pull away from work when in his earlier years he dreaded the breaks. "They make it all the more worthwhile." Even if he expected one person or another had been itching to know if he and Ang were thinking of starting their own family soon. Like 31 years old was so old they needed to rush into anything. "How sweet," Simon found himself commenting on the woman's own holidays. Inwardly grateful it seemed the family had recovered from the drama he himself had helped them deal with.
Catching the gaze of the department head and spotting Victoria as well, the security man gave his own acknowledgement to the other woman. Sometimes it was nice to see all the returning faces amongst the new ones and the two women from Level 6 were among the more pleasant ones.

Well, it didn’t take much to know that her compliment had been understood. That it had been taken positively, since as soon as Amethyst had said it, she’d honestly been a bit concerned that it wouldn’t have been. Yet the grin on Harmony’s face told her that everything was fine. “That’s always a nice thing, not having to feel guilty about what you’re eating,” she said with a smile. Of course, people rarely said that about French food, and many people just simply didn’t understand Scottish delicacies. She hadn’t seen a need to explain exactly how different the hummus had been for her. In a good way, of course.
“Oh, I might have to do that sometime. There might be some things that my girls would like,” she’d continued, as the department head had offered to share her recipe book with her. At least there might be something Jemma might like. Julia obviously wasn’t quite old enough for solid foods yet. It was going to be hard leaving her with daycare once the Ministry got underway again. She doubted that anyone would mind her stepping away from her desk occasionally, as long as she got her work done. Nobody had complained about her visits to IMC in the past, specifically to Gregory’s office. Perhaps she could even find something to make for the office.

I just have an aversion to organised group activities." More like a complete and utter hatred for them, but let's not say that.
Oh, forgive him? Was there anything to forgive? Charles took his hand and shook it as the name floated around his head. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Wait... "Mitterbill... I know that name." Hmmmm. "Department head?" He tried to remember everyone's names. It was more about making sure he knew everything he could and had the ability to say he knew them. His job was about people and the ones at the table with him right now were of the right species.

Mercedes kept an eye out for anyone else who she might know. There really seemed to be a lot of people here which was good. More people to get to know. Who was quickly getting not so little. Which made her sad. "How was your break?" Probably like hers, filled with family and her babies. It was nice to have Victoria around. They had gotten close both in the office and outside the office.

Talullah looked around, a big smile was on her face. She couldn't think of anything more fun than this. Well actually she could but this was really on top for her. She was so happy and excited to meet everyone. This was a change for her but this was a change that she was very much willing to make. Now her father would approve of having a proper job. Her father really didn't mind to much about her career choice. She was sure he didn't mind about her sister Magnolia's career choice either. The blonde looked around when she heard a woman's voice. "Hello, hello!" She said cheerfully. "Oh goodness! It's so lovely to meet you, Mrs. Culloden." Lullah nodded as she spoke to the woman. "I am new here. I'm Talullah Whitehall." she smiled and stuck out her hand as she introduced herself.
Victoria picked up a brownie and placed it on her plate. "Oh it was lovely. Though always too fast. Bart was home, but I guess you probably knew that." She figured Mercedes would have seen her son at least once or twice. "With Bart in Australia and Cossy at Hogwarts it's just nice to have everyone in the same house for at least a little while. I don't think it will happen very often now that Bart is gone." She knew her son was an adult now and would make his own decisions. She just wished it didn't have to be so far away.
"Did the little one have a great Christmas. I bet she got spoiled." That was the best about Christmas being able to spoil and enjoy family.
Smiling towards the new woman she knew the name as soon as she said it, "Welcome to the team Tallullah. Mariel had sent me your information once you were hired. You've started at a great time. We are very busy with the season in full swing and many managers needing things. I have a few things I've been working on over break as well." She grinned at them both. She had a team training she was hoping Mariel would approve and then an expo and of course the summer camp and tryouts were always on her mind.

Goodness she knew she was getting older and she knew it was out of respect but Victoria couldn't help but cringe a bit to the madam. She would be forty this April, how was that even possible. "You will be great. The fact that you are even worried about it shows you want to do well so you will. There are plenty of great people here to help you succeed." She had plenty of friends and colleges that would help out and she trusted.

She found it slightly more an effort to keep her toned shape, and she wasn't sure if that was from having two children or getting a little older, but either way she was more careful with the sweets. One brownie wouldn't hurt though, and she put one on her plate before looking up at Simon again, nodding at his words. "I suppose it's not family without a few interesting relationships," she chuckled, having a few herself on her side that she could think of. Though for the most part they got along pretty well.
Her smile grew as she thought of her children. "Oh, they really do. I can't imagine life without them." Even though they had only been around for such a short time, it had made such an impact on her life. And though she was remotely curious about whether Simon and Angelina had plans for additions to their own family, she felt it rude to ask. People often never knew if a couple might be having difficulties in that sense like she and Jorge did in the beginning, or if they just didn't want any children. It wasn't anyone's business and could come off as intrusive. "I think we might make our December holiday visits to Brazil a regular thing. We have a vacation home there." And now that Alejandro was a little bigger, she couldn't think of a reason not to go a little more often. They could both easily keep up with their limited work during that time with owls and delegation.
Having enough food on her plate, she looked around for an open table, noticing Victoria again speaking to Mercedes and another woman. She seemed a little busy at the moment, but she'd have to make sure she spoke to her before the end of the night. Seeing a table, she glanced again to Simon. "Care to join me for a seat?"

Mouth stuffed with a pepper Logan made big eyes in reaction to what Charles did for a living. He was a man of power and importance just like his uncle. Swallowing he said "I work as an Obliviator." On level 3 but he had said that already. There was no reason to repeat himself. Then Charles explained why he was here but wasn't going to participate in the organised group activities. Confused Logan asked not sure why he was needling the older man. "But if you're a division head, aren't you supposed to participate to show a good example for new employees?" Wasn't that why his uncle was going to partake in speed dating?
Turning to his uncle Logan rolled his eyes in response. "It's not romantic? Are you sure all the ladies participating will be of the same opinion? Making a connection implies starting a relationship does it not?" He wasn't going to say anything about what his uncle's wife might think about him taking part in a dating activity but he could picture what Hazel would say if she was there.
Heather Mitterbill moved around the room at a slow pace and looked for the one person that was missing from her side. Her husband. She admired the food and everything that had been set out for them to enjoy but she really wasn't feeling very peckish at the moment, a little uncomfortable really. She need something in her hands though so that she didn't look to completely out of place. She moved to the drink table and lightly tapped her wand upon it, "Apple Cider." Within seconds it was there in a nice long stemmed glass. She picked it up and as she turned around she saw the back of the person she was looking for.
She just stood there staring, the stare of an adoring wife. How could she be so lucky? Jasper was everything to her. Always. She crossed her arms and slowly raised the glass to her lips taking a small sip while still watching the back of her husbands head. He was magnificent. And even now she admired his people skills. Simply amazing.

Talullah swiftly put her hands behind her back and listened to her boss. Or well one of them. She was used to being bossed around by more than one boss or leader. It was part of being in the athletic careers. "Thank you. I'm very happy to be on the team. I'm also very excited to be working with the rest of my co-workers as well." She beamed.

Right now she wasn't about to contain her happiness about this new job.

Mercedes gave the woman a smile. Whitehall? Where had she heard that last name before? The first name too. Sounded familiar. She smiled and laughed lightly. "Please you can call me, Mercedes. No I'm not new. This is my fourth year here." She might have been married and had a kid but going by her first name always worked for her. Plus Talullah didn't look like she was much older than her.
She turned back to Victoria, "It went by too fast. Yeah. I seen him a few times while he was here." He was at her house a few times with her sister. She nodded, it was nice to have everyone around. Especially for the holidays. "Do you think he'll stay there?" She had a feeling about what she was going to stay but she was just curious.
"Oh? you're in Games and Sports, too? Welcome!" She smiled at both of them. Great. She liked getting new co workers, from her department. As Victoria spoke she about the new things to come in the department. She could not wait to get back to work and get started on everything.
