A colour scheme of greens and whites is prominent in the Environmental Work Area and helps to set it aside from the Creatures work area. A large window stretches across one of the walls from floor to ceiling, depicting an ever-changing scenery. On one side of the work area sits a large cabinet full of various essentials that the employees are free to use. From spare quills to stacks of parchment, this cabinet has it all. Attached to the cabinet sits a small bookshelf, full of books on botany, weather and other environment-based novels that the employees can use. The Department Head simply asks that you return it in its rightful place once you’re done with it.
Clusters of desks can be found around the Work Area, each divided by divisions within the department to make it easier for the employees to interact with their division. Comfy green and black chairs are found sitting near pristine white work surfaces. Each desk comes with a small chest of drawers and a nameplate for the employees to use. Simply write your name down on the piece of parchment in the nameplate, give it a tap and it should stay there for as long as you wish.
The work area is an open area rather than a room, meaning that you can visit other areas within the level and, at times, can see people walking past. Hopefully, this doesn’t distract you too much. A noticeboard sits along another side of the wall, right near Ms Quinn’s office where the Department Head will put up any important notices for the whole Department to see.

Making her way into the work area after a chat with Emmalee, Ronnie made her way around and placed a copy of the most recent announcement on the notice board on each person's desk. Smiling and making a double check to see that she didn't miss anyone, the red head was off to get herself some coffee.
For the most part, Emmalee liked sharing the level with Creatures. It made for ease of collaboration and resource sharing. But at the same time, it tended to mean dancing around one another's schedules to try to book conference room time.
So Emmalee had a different idea. Setting a plate of pastries down - who didn't like free food, after all - Emmalee was opting to make the Environmental work space her meeting area. It was, after all, a bit of an informal gathering. Welcome the new employees formally, get feedback on ideas, that sort of thing.
Leaning against one of the desk, Emmalee took a small sip of tea.

Olly was definitely NOT one of those people who didn't like free food.
Which was why her lips curled into a small smile when she noticed all the pastries upon walking in. Ooooh. Was that for them? She REALLY liked working at the Ministry. All that free food and stuff. And so far she hadn't even had to interact with her colleagues a whole lot yet. Another plus.
Taking a sip from the tea she'd brought, Olly was on her way over to the pastries when she noticed Emmalee Quinn standing there. Oh. Hi. "Hello!" She offered her a smile, stopping next to her. "Good morning." The pastries would have to wait. Politeness was a thing after all. "Were we supposed to bring something?" No, right? RIGHT?
Olly was definitely NOT one of those people who didn't like free food.

Ah. Olly Clarke. Emmalee nodded ever so slightly as the woman approached. "Good morning, Ms. Clarke," she said, still sipping her tea. She shook her head at the woman's next question. "No no, my treat entirely," she responded. Well, the Departmental budget's treat, if one wanted to be specific about it.

"Woah," Peri said aloud as he entered the work area. "Cool." A lover of the outdoors, he chose a desk near the window and checked if anyone had put their name there. None yet. Great! Peri wrote down his name and gave it a quick tap with his wand, feeling content.
He noticed a few who had arrived earlier than he did and approached them. "Hey," he began, hoping he sounded friendly enough - not creepy. And slightly wishing no one here had witnessed his making a fool of himself at the employee intake desk. Especially not if they were the actual Olly and Emmalee. Peri gave a shy smile. "Er...hello..." Should he say his name now? Or his nickname? Or perhaps his last name? Or maybe since he was new, he should wait to be asked...? Ugh.

"Mr. Wulfweardsweorth, welcome," she said, offering her hand. "I don't know that you've had the chance to meet Ms. Clarke," she said, gesturing. Work had been busy busy since the orientation and this was the first opportunity they'd gotten.
"Please, help yourself to a pastry, and I think I'll be getting started with the meeting." She trusted that others would straggle in, back from their field assignments and what have you. But she did need to get a prompt start.
"This little meeting is mostly informal" she began, smoothing out her skirt with her hands. "I take great pride in the work that we do here and I want to make sure you're able to get back to it. But I did want to talk about a little initiative that I've agreed to spearhead, that grew, actually, out of a recommendation from one of your colleagues." Where was Ms. Knight anyway?
"We're going to be hosting a little... plant adoption event for the ministry to help promote a more green work environment. So you're each being given some leeway in your schedules to help pull this event together. For the botanists, it means growing some specimens. For the oceanologists, perhap considering if there are underwater plants that may be particularly appealing and seeing about cultivating those in little fish tanks. Other offices will lend their talents as well, climate controllers, working with the oceanologists and the botanists on any self-contained items. Those sorts of things."
Emmalee watched the faces of her employees carefully. It wasn't a big project, but it would hopefully kick-off much more.
"Thoughts?"

Her apprenticeship? "It was....I definitely learned a lot. Especially during the second half." Olly smiled and finally took a small bite of the pastry. Chewing, she thought about the woman's second question. "We were working on accustoming foreign plants to the climate here. Especially ones from the desert." Yes. "I think that's-"

Peri shook Ms. Howell's hand and turned to the person she referred to as Ms. Clarke. He gave a nervous nod. That was the real Olly Clarke. "Hello Ms. Clarke..." He began as charmingly as he could muster. "No, definitely not. Right here. Free. Not in jail. Or in Azkaban. I mean not that I would have anything to do with Azkaban...Never been..." Oh shut up Peri!!! "Er...Sorry. Hello...again. And I'm...." Before Peri could say more, he realized the meeting had started and turned to Ms. Howell as she spoke.
Peri quickly grabbed a pastry and took a big bite. That was still not a very good second meeting with Olly Clarke. Trying not to choke, Peri kept his eyes on Ms. Howell as she spoke, wondering if there was a way to put Olly under a strong memory charm so he could start over. One could always hope...or cast the spell right now, in secret.
Nonsense. Casting a spell on a co-worker your first day of work? It's just not done. Peri shook his head and suddenly realized how strange it must look for him to have done so. Hopefully no one noticed.
He forced himself to look at Olly when she suggested using resilient plants, which made perfect sense of course. "That's right," he said in agreement, forgetting for a moment that it was Ms. Clarke - the woman he was trying not to get extra attention from - who spoke. "I mean...we wouldn't want any accidents in the office now would we?" He added, trying to sound as confident as he could.
Maybe that memory charm wasn't such a bad idea after all...
As soon as he got back from his assignment, he got a message that they were having a meeting and a new Department Head apparently. Well, he was gone for a while so its natural that things were changing. But he was hoping to see some familiar faces during the meeting maybe his old colleagues? When Basti entered the working area, he quietly walking towards one of the empty seat and sipped his coffee.
The Senior Oceanologist was watching his two colleagues were talking to each other. They probably friends from school or something because they seem familiar with each other. Then the boss lady started the meeting. Okay, here we go.
Plant adoption event? That sounds like a good idea to him. Well, there were a lot of underwater plants that could go well in little fish tanks. "I agree with Ms. Clarke." That was her name right? Resilient plants was probably the best option. And he also agreed with that guy. What was his name again? "Or seeing dead plants everywhere because they couldn't treat it properly." He hated to see that. Especially if that happen to the underwater plants. So in another words they need resilient plants that even a child could help it grow? "We could use Java Moss for the underwater plants. Its not magical plants per se but its low-maintenance, difficult to kill, and grows quickly." See perfect for beginners.

Emmalee's eyebrow quirked ever so slightly at the exchange between Olly and Peri. Rather than say anything, she simply made note of it. It would be a... dynamic to watch. Though, the Department Head was immensely curious as to what had them off on the wrong foot.
"Well then," she said, looking between the two of them and trailing off in a way that she intended to communicate that she was not oblivious to their interaction nor would pettiness be tolerated.
"You're quite right. Resilience will be important. Perhaps some of those desert plants you worked with your apprenticeship." It was a shame that the Climate control team was out, otherwise they may have had something to contribute.
But there was dependable Mr. Messer. Emmalee was quite pleased that he'd returned from assignment, if only from what she'd seen of his file. He'd been out for as long as she could remember. "Java Moss, yes, perfect," she said, nodding. "You and Mr. Wulfweardsweorth can take that on as our oceanologists, yes? We'll need quite a few cultivated." But there were certainly more than enough supplies for the pair of them to prepare a number of samples.

"Yes, java moss would be a good start," Peri agreed. He gave the other guy a nod, whispered his name quickly, "Peri." for his benefit, and continued to address mainly him and Emmalee. Peri tried to recall the other plants he used to study at his Muggle university. "I think we should add Dwarf Baby Tears as well - and Marsilea Minuta. They're beautiful and easy to grow." He thought a bit more, relieved to not have to worry about Clarke for a while, and yet still concerned about sounding stupid. "As for magical water plants...I'll read more into it, see which ones that aren't too dangerous to handle." All he could remember at the moment were those giant plants that grab and drown. Definitely not one to use.
Peri couldn't help it. As soon as he finished speaking, he nonchalantly pushed his bangs back as if thinking about something and stole a glance towards Clarke's direction.
