Default Moai Statues - Islands

One of the most famous landmarks of the Easter Islands is the Moai Statues. These monolithic statues usually stand on areas where the plane is flat and even. Most of the statues can be found simply standing with a serene expression on their faces, as if they’re simply enjoying the wonder and beauty of the island. Usually, the legs aren’t particularly visible, which explains why these statues are also commonly referred to as the ‘Easter Island heads’.

It’s hard to miss these statues as they can be found scattered across the island. Taking a leisurely walk around them and you’ll be fascinated by the simplicity of the works of the Polyneseian colonizers. These humane figures have bigger heads in respect to the head-body ratio. Their noses, as well as their ears, are elongated and their mouths curve up to form a small pout.

Take a stroll around, snap some pictures and enjoy the atmosphere of being around these majestic works of art. The best time to take a visit to these figures is during sunrise or sunset when the colorful skies behind the heads of the statues add on to give a truly remarkable experience. Visiting these statues will make for a truly unforgettable experience.
