Professor Joshi has dedicated daily and specific hours for meeting with students should they not be able to meet with her outside of office. Like the Oracle Chamber, the door remains open except for when there is a visitor. Once you have knocked on it to indicate your presence, Sarika will invite you in. You are free then to take one of the two light blue cushioned chairs before her broad, highly polished mahogany desk. On it, you will notice many notebooks, pens and pencils which are used to make notes as she researched her lesson topics. Special ink and quills were reserved for the grading of essays and examinations. Despite her office sporting a bookcase filled with books both personal and relating to Divination, there were always a few of the latter neatly stacked on one corner of the desk. This was because inspiration can strike at any time and she may need to do some quick research. Last but not least, there is a golden-framed photo of a smiling Professor Joshi and her partner, Lazlo, and their Crup, Woofie, on full display.
You’re bound to be comfortable in the office since it is decorated much like the Oracle Chamber which was decorated to be as soothing to one’s eyes as possible. The walls matched the cushioned chairs, and were home to tasteful abstract paintings. There were plants, naturally, slightly larger versions of their bonsai counterparts. What was missing though? The rich incense aroma; even Sarika gets tired of that scent sometimes. Instead, you are may to be enamoured with the scent of one essential oil or the other: Eucalyptus, Geranium, Lemon Grass, Sandalwood or her favourites: Rose and Cardamom.
Xerxes knocked on Professor Joshi's office door and entered when beckoned. He walked toward the teacher's desk and sat down. "Good evening, Professor Joshi. How are you doing today? I was hoping I could go over the homework you assigned in class the other day. Would you mind reading it over? I could do with your input." Xerxes inquired of his teacher.
Xerxes took a scroll of parchment out of his school bag. It was tightly furled and about twelve inches long.

My Experience with Pyromancy
During the Divination lesson on Pyromancy, I cleansed my candle with Hymalian Pink and herbs. Then I focused my mind on a burning question. The question I asked the flame was "Does the boy I like, like me back?" I have a crush on a boy and I wanted to see if my affection was mutual.
I then lit the candle with the Incendio Charm. Sitting with a straight back, I held my question firmly in my mind and stared directly into the flame. I also took deep, clear breaths. I repeated my question over and over in my mind.
Finally, something happened. The flame suddenly turned deepest red. After a few seconds, the flame began to flicker and sputter. Then the flame went out. This told me that the flame was speaking to me, and that it was up to me to interrupt its meaning.
According to my Divination notes, the color of the flame; namely red; suggests that the flame senses passion in both me and in my question. Next, the behavior of the flame was quite suspicious and begs interruption. The flame's flickering suggests outside influences are interfering with my goal. My personal interpretation of this is that there is someone else interested in my crush. It could also intimate that my crush likes that person back; for why else would this interference affect my ultimate goal. Lastly, the flame went out by itself. This leads me to believe that, ultimately, my goal is a futile one; at least for the time being. Now is not the right time to pursue my crush. I should, according to the flame, not declare my intentions or affections for the boy I like. My goal, that of acquiring a boyfriend in the boy I like, is not going to be successful if attempted now. I should wait and re-evaluate.
Xerxes handed the parchment to his Professor and waited for them to read it.

Sarika was sitting quite comfortably in her soft chair as she planned an upcoming lesson. This one would be held in about three weeks. She tapped the soft side of her Eagle feathered quill thoughtfully against her chin then shook her head. No, she didn’t quite like this activity. In her opinion, it didn’t quite convey what she wanted the students to understand about the topic. What had been previously written was struck out just as there was a knock on the door. Her eyes settled on Xerxes, leading her to smile warmly. “Come on in.” Sarika closed her notebook, a gesture which meant the Hufflepuff had her complete attention.
“Hello, Xerxes! Quite well, thank you. How are you? Had a good day of classes?” There wasn’t time to ask the first year what was the purpose of the visit; not that it mattered when he launched into his request. “Of course I can do that. Let me just read what you’ve written. Have a seat in the meanwhile.” The professor accepted the scroll, unfurled it with a tap of her wand so that it flattened then began to read.
Eventually, Saika finished and she set the homework on top of her book. “Excellently done, Xerxes,’’ she began. “An excellent insight into your experience, and moreso into your interpretations. Before I further offer opinions, is there something in particular you need clearing up? Are you unsure of what you interpreted? Divination, as you know, is quite a subjective branch of magic.”

"Thank you so much for seeing me and helping me with my homework." Xerxes said to his teacher. "I do really appreciate it."
Xerxes crossed his legs, really sinking into the chair in front of Professor Joshi's desk. "So in reference to my homework, I am not exactly unclear about my interpretation of the Pyromancy reading. I was more looking to make sure that my homework would be considered 'complete'. I hope that I did the assignment justice and that I didn't leave anything important out. I also wondered if it was long enough."

Xerxes was always so polite, it was a trait Sarika admired in anyone who possessed such. “You’re quite welcome on both counts, Xerxes.” And she meant it; the professor wasn’t just saying the words because meeting with students and chatting with them about academics were part of the job description. Luckily, Sarika was highly extroverted and she loved her students.
Ah, so that was the true purpose of this visit! “As you know, Divination is quite subjective. What one considers ‘complete’ varies with the interpreter.” Sarika paused, considering her words in order to make things clearer. “What you observed during our lesson is something only you can transcribe. If you focus on making your writing too lengthy, you risk writing words that aren’t relevant.” Here, she smiled understandingly. Yes, she could certainly get why Xerxes would be concerned. “In other words, as long as you’ve covered all aspects of your observations and interpretations, then your homework will be considered complete. This is the reason I never specify how many lengths of parchment homework should be. Judging by what I’ve read here, you seemed to have covered all that I would look for when marking.”
"Oh thank you so much, Professor Joshi. I really appreciate you insights. I have certainly provided a complete account of my experience during the reading. Therefore, I can now confidently say that I am finished with this particular piece of homework. Can I leave it with you now? Or would you prefer that I bring it with me to class tomorrow?" Xerxes asked his sagely wise Professor.

Sarika offered Xerxes another warm smile. “It’s my pleasure, my young Oracle. You’re quite welcome to stop by here or have a moment with me after class any time you like.” This was a message she reminded her students for a few reasons. “Yes, you have. Keep that diligence up, not just for Divination but for your other subjects as well, and you’ll see yourself excelling in your academics.” One of the greatest rewards of being a professor is getting to watch students excel.
“You can leave your homework with me. I’ll return it to you at the same time your classmates receive theirs. Is there anything else you would like to discuss?” This was not limited to Divination; it could be any trouble at Hogwarts Xerxes was having, if any.
Xerxes smiled at his Professor. She was very nice and made him feel at ease. "No, there isn't anything else I need to discuss. Well, not about Divination or my homework at any rate. Not unless......do you happen to collect Chocolate Frog cards? I've been putting up notices looking for people to trade with me. But I haven't had any luck yet."

Viv Awning sat back in the cushioned chair, tucking a damp strand of hair behind her ear and giving the professor a sheepish grin. “If I'm being completely honest, Professor Joshi, I came here to clarity on my divination and left with a companionship for collecting cards? This is completely on-brand for me.” She took a crumpled scroll from her bag and smoothed it against her knee. Three names were underlined in bold, looping script—Grizel Hurtz, Archibald Alderton, and Jocunda Sykes—and each was circled dramtically in purple ink. “These are my top three wishes," she stated, tapping them with her quill. “Alderton because my gran insists I take after him in exploding pudding proportions.”
Her satchel jingled slightly as she rummaged and she proudly produced a small, tin-lined envelope brimming with duplicate chocolate frog cards. "In exchange, I receive about five Helgas and a group of eccentric potion masters. I’m basically a one-woman-traveling wizard trading post.” She smiled once more, this time earnestly. If you are still interested in a swap, I would be delighted. And if you have any spares with intriguing auras, I would be very interested."
