If you find yourself in need of a word with the Divination Professor you must knock at the large wooden doors and pray that he will decide to make himself available. Typically, the door is sealed shut but once you hear that gruff voice inviting you in, feel free to give an extra hard nudge and come on in.
Once inside, you’ll notice the office is a lot brighter than most. Despite the thick fabric and dark colours of the curtains, these curtains are usually drawn open to allow whatever light exists outside to pour in. The office is scarcely decorated with no pictures of family, pets or himself. Furniture is also in short supply it would seem. A single chair sits opposite his own at the desk and while there are two rather comfy chairs just a ways off, it is unlikely he likes you enough to offer you such a comfy appointment.
Make your visit brief, he may not always be a busy man but it doesn’t mean he wants his free time taken up by whiny children who can’t figure out which side of a crystal ball to look through.

Even when it doesn't happen very often.
"Was wanting to know why."
The man could clearly multi task, judging by him skimming the classwork.

Ah, so it wasn't all. Calvin considered her question while he scanned the parchment, but after reading the first few responses, shuffled it to the bottom of the pile to be dealt with when he had more brain power for the level of........questionable responses that that was.
He looked to her again. "That has a great deal to do with your mind and your own ability to both focus and maintain whatever state of consciousness you've fallen into. You see, Ms. Queen, dreaming like being awake is a form of consciousness but it has a different level of awareness depending on the person and how sharp they've trained their mind to be. Not everyone who realizes they're dreaming will wake up immediately. They've learned to adjust to a different state of consciousness so it's not a "shock to the mind" so to speak."
He paused to scan the new piece of parchment, hoping this student had put more thought into their responses. It was honestly remarkable what some of them thought okay to put down on parchment and submit.
"The average person, once they realize they're dreaming, do not possess enough control over their mind to maintain the state. Processes become active in the mind once more. The active mind takes over with its own state of consciousness and the dream state is lost."

Skyler nodded. "That makes sense," she said. "I always thought that I just never rememebered if anything in my dream state happened or if I just woke up."
She glanced down at the book.
"Thank you. For answering my questions," she said. "May I still use the book though?"
She wanted to see if she can learn anymore about it.
She glanced back at the book. It was in near perfect condition. Skyler made a mental note to keep this book tucked in a safe place with her belongings. She knew she wasn't that neat of a person so if she read the book anywjere outside the common room, who knows what would happen.

"You're welcome, Ms. Queen." If she was clearer now on the topic and what she'd come for then he was more than happy to help. It was the better option when compared to allowing the student to wallow in ignorance.
"The book is still on offer. Do return it in a timely fashion." While he wouldn't give her a deadline, he was not loaning it out indefinitely. He did want it back in reasonably timely fashion should anyone else be in need of the same assistance.

Skyler nodded and took the book.
"Yes sir, I will. Thank you," she said giving herself a mental note to read this as soon as she got the chance. And keep it in the condition that she had recieved it.
She got up from the seat, putting it back where it was.
"Have a nice night professor," she said and started to walk out, heading straight to her common room.
The last thing she needed was to get to her common room past curfew. She did eat of course but instead of spending the rest of the night with her friends, she went straight to Fletcher's office.

"Have a good evening, Ms. Queen." He returned. There was still a bit before curfew but it was just as well she be on her way. Coming from his office or not, breaking curfew wasn't allowed. Of course, in that same vein he wouldn't have allowed her to stay so late that getting back to her common room wasn't possible.
The man waited until she exited the office then flicked his wand to get the door locked.
Now then, he had these parchments to get through.

After Skyler had left the library, she headed to professor Fletcher's office. She held the divination book in her hand and knocked on the door with her other. After that she waited.

With his latest round of detentions completed, Calvin had settled back into his office to give himself a much needed breather. Teenagers were exhausting. Everything they did was exhausting. Just watching them breathe was likely enough to leave him winded at this point but he wouldn't let them get the better of him.
Rules were still rules and if they all wanted to be expelled, he was sure Scrimgeour wouldn't mind obliging.
The man had only just sunk down into his chair when he heard the knock at the door. It sent a scowl to his face with immediate effect, a scowl he did his best to rid himself of. "Come in." He called.

When Skyler had heard come in, she opened, tried to open the door. It was kind of hard to so she had to push it a bit. When she did get it open, she picked the book up and walked inside. After closing the door, she gave him a greeting.
"Hello professor Fletcher," Skyler said. "I just came to return the book," she said as she walked in a bit more and stood by the oposite chair.

Ah, the book. Right. Internally the man sighed in relief of not having to deal with anything more serious than the young girl giving him back what belonged to him.
"Leave it on the desk there." He instructed, waving a hand toward the left end of his table. He would return it to the shelf at a later point in the evening, perhaps before turning in for the night.
"I trust you were able to get a few more answers from it."

”Right.” There had been the faintest hint of annoyance at the mention of her ripping a page after having been told not to but the feeling quickly passed at the mention she’d repaired it. The man summoned the book from her hand and gave it a once over to be sure she hadn’t botched such a simple spell before placing the book at his desk himself.
“I expected nothing less.” At no point did he expect that if she ripped his book she would return it as is. These children, collectively, weren’t very smart but most of them had some sense of self preservation.
“Is there anything else?”
