Surely his father was like that when he was still playing, and...well, he knew his sister only made sure that the interviewers wrote exactly what she said. She photographs well, it's a Lockhart thing, apparently. But...Treyen knew what Finn meant. "Of course, that's important," he said, thinking about how he was bound to check out those kind of things in the future, though, he wouldn't make a big deal out of it for sure.

Being here, however, instantly made him think of his girlfriend and how much he was missing her...but..., "What made you come here, though? Are you planning on getting a new broom?" Treyen still had the one his sister had given him. He wasn't buying one. Didn't see the point, especially since he wasn't thinking of playing Quidditch for life.
"It is." It really was. Finlay was very glad that Treyen agreed and understood. Most people did not get it at all. Which was a bad thing. "I mean...can't be looking silly or anything." Because then everyone would think that he was silly. That would not be fun. Finlay was super hot, and so needed to look super hot in every single photo that was taken of him. Well...he knew that didn't happen really, but he could just pretend that it would anyway. Fin was sneaky like that. He grinned at Treyen though. He wasn't going to mention anything about the photos anymore. He wasn't that vain after all. Not much anyway.

What made him come here. Finn shrugged, shaking his head. "Nah...I don't need one." He was kind of the sponser for one. Kind of couldn't get a new one. "Just having a browse really." To see the new models and stuff. If there was a new one he could suggest it to his boss. That was the nice thing to do. Then they'd win and be super awesome.

Personally, she had never seen him as an Auror, but she had to admit it made sense. The lion was always very protective of his friends and was privy to defense against the dark arts. In fact, she remembered a time when he basically taught the class to students in a student help group. He was brilliant- no one could argue that. So his current study to become an Auror did not surprise her in the slightest.

However then she picked up on something that he said. A year in the program. Why was Simon only training for a year at this point? He had been out of school for two years. What took him so long to join the ranks over at the ministry? Her red eyebrows lifted in confusion a bit as she finished putting away the last piece of merchandise that she would have to pick up later when it was time to leave, "Why did you wait so long to join the ministry? I mean, you've been out of school for a while now."

Wow... Time really had flown. She was not accustomed to the whole thought of so many people she knew being graduates. Selina herself was now a fifth year and was making the very swift transition from little girl to young adult. Some days it really frightened her. But now that she had seen Simon a little ounce of her twelve year old mentality had returned.
And now it was his turn to feel ackward, Selina catching on to what he had said about being in the auror training program for only a year and registering that it might have been off for him. "Um...well...after what all had happened my last year..." Simon started to say as he straightened up to stand after putting away the last item he had to pick up. He paused for a moment trying to gather the right words, his hand absently creaping to the back of his neck.

"I decided maybe I wasn't quite ready. And wasn't sure those who had dealt with the intruders...my now-collegues..would trust me beside them," he explained his decision the best he could. It wasn't so much a sore spot as it had when Legend had rubbed it in at work but it was still a dark mark on his life...when he wandered away from his dreams. "So I took a year in university to gather myself." And found himself right back where he had been heading the entire time...just a little later and right beside Josh. Plus had the added knowledge of wizarding law from his classes.

Ella felt a little crushed when Treyen told her every broom was good. She expected as much so it wasn't really his fault. As for what she wanted the broom for..."I just want to get better at flying. Maybe try out for quidditch...maybe" Shrug. That dream was still on the back burner until Ella felt confident enough to show Keefer what she was made of...which might not be this up coming term. She laughed at Treyen's response to her wanting to go fast. He gave her quite an adult answer. Her dad would like this kid, no doubt. "I guess you're right." And she smiled at him, thankful for any advice at all.

Then Ella continued to scan the brooms while Minerva and Treyen continued to talk. Why on earth were there so many? Did they want to make broom-buyers confused? The soon-to-be second year was too overwhelmed with her broom choices to hear what the other two were saying but she did catch Minnie saying goodbye. She turned, wondering if Treyen was leaving. "Thanks for your help, Treyen!" Ella said, smiling at the older boy.

Er, what? Lessons? "I think that's what Vindictus and Keefer are for," he said, yet couldn't help but blush a little bit. He was probably an awful teacher, anyway. And he nodded as Minerva spoke. It was best to wait for the shopkeeper anyway, they were bound to know a little bit more on brooms than him, at least. "No, not interrupting," because there was hardly anything to interrupt, they'd just met up by the magazines.

His eyes turned to Ella, "It doesn't hurt to try out, you know," well, actually, if a Bludger hit you during tryouts, then yeah, it hurt. But he didn't mention that, he just kept on smiling...and...yes, he was right, thank you. One nod signaled his agreement.

And they were leaving? Or...walking away...yeah, that. "Best of luck in Quidditch," he said, before turning to Finn once more.

Where were they? Right. Finn's good looks? Treyen was definitely not interested in listening to any of that, which is why he didn't much about that, other than agreeing with him, "Of course not." Finn was smart enough to know that if Treyen got quieter by the minute it meant this was a topic he'd rather not discuss anymore, right? Right. Finn was smart.

AND...he laughed.

All Quidditch players liked this store, and he couldn't blame them. Even the people who didn't like Quidditch were impressed by it. Mmmhmmm, just browsing. Sounded good. Or normal. There was something he'd been wanting to mention to Finn -or ask him-, by the way, and he supposed now would be as best time as any to bring it up. The shop did offer plenty of distractions in case he needed one. "What happened in New York, Finn?" There. It was out.

Finn kind of figured that Treyen really didn't like this topic. The dude was going quiet, and really Finlay was done with this topic too. He didn't exactly talk to that many guys about how amazingly attractive he was. That was usually done with the girls. So. A change of topic would be a good idea. Finn looked at the brooms again, moving over slightly, hoping that Treyen would. The further inside the shop he got, the less likely some photographer would be able to see him from the outside. Which would be very good.

Then Treyen did change the subject. Finlay hadn't really spoken about the break up too much. It was still kind of getting him down. He had really loved Fallon, but things were just not working. It hadn't been fair for any of them. "We grew apart..." He felt comfortable talking about this with Treyen really. Because he knew he could trust the guy. "I don't know....if it was my fault though?" He shrugged, looking at Treyen, seeming sad. "I mean I was constantly over here training....it couldn't have helped things." And it hurt. It would hurt to know that he had pushed her away. Things had worked so well for ages. Then poof. It was gone. Nothing ever worked for him.

Ah. Perfect. See? Finn could take a hint.

And then...then Finn's tone changed and, well, Treyen didn't regret asking that but he didn't want to see any of his friends down. It still came as a shock to him when he found out. He'd spent a couple in New York with them and...they seemed perfect. Like nothing could break them apart. Except themselves, apparently.

He nodded, and then instantly shook his head, "It wasn't your fault, Finn," not really, "Not entirely," it was a bunch of things all together in a mix. Her in New York, while he was here in England, well, Montrose, right? That was Scotland. "You loved her, you wouldn't have done anything to break you guys apart," think again, Lockhart. Wasn't it something YOU did what got you away from Ellie one time? Then again, he wasn't in love with her back then, right? He...had no idea.

"I should say you ought to follow your own advice, the one you gave me, but...I don't think it applies in this case." And Treyen was eternally grateful for that advice.

Selina listened intently as Simon explained why he had taken the year off instead of heading straight to the Ministry. If there was any awkwardness in her tone she did not pick up on it at all. Perhaps it was because she was too excited to be talking to Simon Bennett again to even notice, or maybe it was that she could never see THE Simon Bennett doing anything even remotely awkward. She had, no doubt, idealized Simon and still saw him in that manner; so even thinking for a moment that he was awkward in any way, shape, or form was not even a thought that crossed Selina's mind. It was childish, but Selina was feeling very little being around Simon. If poor Gideon was around he would most likely be confused as to who this girl was right now. Selina Skylar was not one to idolize anyone, but Simon Bennett was not anyone.

When he finished talking it took a moment for her to pick up on the fact that it would be polite to say something. She settled on adding, "Well everyone takes there own path to what they are supposed to do. As long as you are happy with what you are doing now, that's all that matters."

Then, out of what seemed like no where, she blurted out, "I've missed you, Captain." After all, Simon Bennett would always be her Captain. The fact that she was Captain now was unbelievable to her... it was just not something that was her title. It was Carter and Simon's badge... not hers.

Hearing his next question, Nancy couldn't help but smirk a little while nodding slowly. "You do remember me then." If only vaguely apparently, since he seemed quite unsure about this whole thing. "'72. I was a couple of years below you. Nancy." She offered, watching him a little curiously. That wasn't what he had come here for though, was it?
He did? But he didn't? He honestly only kind of vaguely remembered her. From the Quidditch team. Because she did play, he was SURE of it. And her being a couple of years below him was clearly why he only vaguely recognized her. Which he said as much. "Vaguely, yes. But literally a couple years, since I graduated in '70." He'd offer his name, but he got the sense like she remembered it.

But bleh, why was he in here again? It wasn't just to see former classmates of his, he was sure of it...

Seemingly distracted, his gaze flickered back to the two young girls. Dominic should have kept his mouth shut. He REALLY should have. And he should have left five minutes ago. But NO..... he just HAD to go and meddle in other people's business of broom shopping.

Before he could respond back someone coherently, he was interrupted by an intense stare and hiss...

And yes, Mr Denton. Because the two girls had just called him 'Sir' too. You feeling old now? Heh.

Once she was back at where the two girls were standing, Nancy narrowed her eyes at the two for a moment too as if it were their fault for being interested in Oakshafts now. And the worst part? It was exactly the broom she had been about to suggest to them too. "The newest model is the 2010." She pointed her wand at a nearby pack of brochures, levitating one of the ones about the Oakshaft 2010 into each of the two girls' hands. "Would you like to take a look at the actual broom too?" Probably, right?

SHE wouldn't buy a broom without at least having seen it at first.
Mr Denton?! The last time he remembered being called that was by one of his Professors, but Merlin help him for forgetting the name. She seemed to endorsing the Oakshaft though, as if she APPROVED of his recommendation to them.

"Well maybe I should work here," he murmured, wishing again that he could just keep quiet.

Not dwelling on what wasn’t she instead focused on the broom she was buying for her big tryout session, just thinking about it gave her the chills. Smiling Roxxy supplied "Um, I’m trying out for chaser since I don’t have the right body build for any of the other positions." Glancing over at the wide selection of brooms her smile faltered slightly "How am I supposed to know which broom is best for me? Nancy you have to help me," She pleaded.

Shaking her head in reply Roxxy mumbled as she shuffled her feet sadly. "I’ve only seen him once and it was a year ago when he was a shopkeeper in WWW but not lately." "You know he was/is like a brother to me right?" she asked moving over to look at the nearest broom. "What is a moontrimmer?"

Good. They weren't going to talk about Langlocking other people anymore. Not exactly Nancy's favorite topic. For well, obvious reasons. Even though, it wasn't the spell itself or what she'd done to Roxxy as such - the girl seemed to be alright after all. But rather what it reminded her of. Ugh.

So onto Roxxy's upcoming tryouts! Nancy eyed the other girl for a moment as if to check whether what she was saying about her built was true. SHE herself had played Keeper for a term but to be honest had always preferred Chaser. Probably because she'd been better at the latter too. "Hmm. Well, I'd actually suggest you have a look at the Firebolt." She replied a little thoughtfully, pointing her wand at something behind her and levitating a Firebolt 600 brochure into the younger girl's hands.

Oliver had been working here in Diagon Alley too? How had she missed this?! And why wasn't he working here anymore? They could have hung out. Shared err shopkeeping stories. "Aww. I miss him. And, yes...yes of course." Err, no she hadn't known how close they were but shh. Nobody had to know.

The Moontrimmer. "It's a really good broom. But it's been designed to go up very high into the air and that's always somehow reminded me of Seekers." Yes. Not that that was a bad thing. "But a lot of Quidditch players have it, also those playing other positions so...but the Firebolt is a great broom too. Or the Nimbus." Again, another brochure followed, this one of the Nimbus 7003. Yes, she HAD actually read up on all those brooms and what they could do and who should buy which.

Right there, two year older than her. "I know." Not because she had cared in any way but because he'd been Head Boy. You just couldn't not pay attention to who was Head Boy. Even if it was a Hufflepuff. "So, what are you doing now? Wandering around Diagon Alley with nothing better to do than saying hello to me?" He got another small smirk for that while she continued to watch him, still wondering what had really made him come in here.

A broom? A servicing kit? Was he lost?

"Yes please, that would be great." Ella wondered if she'd know it was the right broom just by touching it as she had her wand. Did brooms make a connection with their rider? It was something to ponder on while she waited to take a closer look at the Oakshaft.

Yes, of course they would want to see the broom too. The brochure only had the technical details and a couple of pictures. Not too helpful unless you were an expert on broomsticks. Which she just so happened to be. Or pretended to be anyway. Heh.

"Okay. I'll be right back." Nancy offered another smile to the girls before turning around to walk off to the other end of the shop. Only to stop before she had even taken the first step into that direction. Eying Dominic a little suspiciously, she hesitated for a moment. What if he was here to steal customers? What if he was going to open ANOTHER Quidditch shop somewhere further down the street and was here to spy?

HMM...

In the end Nancy couldn't really think of anything to stop him from doing so - apart from literally kicking him out - so she hurried over to get one of the Oakshafts on display. "Here we go. I brought the Cleansweep 39 with me too." The 23 year old said upon returning, levitating the two brooms in front of her. "The Cleansweep is actually even better for Quidditch...you do want to play Quidditch right?" Because maybe they needed it for something else? Cleaning the house? Traveling or something.

It was out.

Ella smiled widely as Treyen wished them luck with Quidditch. "Thanks!" She said cheerfully, trying to stay positive about the whole trying out thing. Then she turned to Minnie who was now speaking to her. More broom talk. This was sure getting confusing! Too many choices for Ella, that's for sure.

SPOILER!!: Minnie

Then turning to Ella she quickly tried to save herself 'So do you know what broom your going to get yet, because I have no clue."

Ella smiled widely at Minnie as she once again noticed the slight pink color come over her cheeks. Interesting, very interesting. She didn't comment though, they had big decisions to make. "I have no clue either. I'm hopeless at making choices." Shrug. Plus, this was a really important choice and Ella didn't want to mess it up.

SPOILER!!: Dominic and Nancy lol

Seemingly distracted, his gaze flickered back to the two young girls. Dominic should have kept his mouth shut. He REALLY should have. And he should have left five minutes ago. But NO..... he just HAD to go and meddle in other people's business of broom shopping.

Before he could respond back someone coherently, he was interrupted by an intense stare and hiss...

Ella watched the interaction between the man who had given them advice and the woman who worked in the shop. She sensed some tension and couldn't help but raise her eyebrows at the entire situation. The soon to be second year almost burst into laughter when the man said that maybe he should work in the shop but was able to catch herself, few!

Ella looked at the two brooms levitating in front of her and eyed them carefully. At the Quidditch question, she looked up and smiled at the woman. "Yes, I'll be trying out for Quidditch. Y-you said the Cleansweep is better? Why's that?" She was curious.

Nancy glanced at her former Head Boy for a second. But no, it seemed he hadn't taked to the girls during her absence. Or had at least not convinced them to leave the shop because his shop was better. And biggr. And cheaper. Hang on, she needed to stop thinking like that. He didn't have a shop. Right?

Good girl. "Good luck with that then!" Which reminded her that she had absolutely on idea which house the two girls were in. Huh. "Yes." ACTUALLY. See, Denton. There was a reason SHE worked here and not him. "Well, the Oakshaft is a little...uhm...see, the handle is a little thicker than the one of the Cleansweep." She pointed at the handle of each of the two brooms with her other hand.

"So, yeah, the Cleansweep is more...agile. Faster." Nancy explained with a nod. The Oakshaft was more for traveling really.

"Thanks!" Ella said, smiling brightly. "I know Hufflepuff has a lot of people trying out next term but I'm going to do my best." To make the team. "Did you ever play Quidditch?" Just asking. Ella was eager to take on as much advice as she could about the sport, get some kind of edge if that was possible.

Ella was a bit lost on the whole handle comparison. What was so important about the thickness anyw-OH! Her eyes lit up with excitement when she heard the word faster. Faster? Ella loved going fast on a broom. It was the most exhilarating feeling in the world. "Faster is definitely good. Definitely."

Talking about the break up kind of made Finlay feel a little depressed. It wasn't nice. Part of him still really liked Fallon, but he knew them splitting up had been for the best. Things hadn't been working, and it wasn't fair to keep trying. Hopefully they'd still be friends, but Falllon was such a lovely person. Finn would hate to lose her out of his life for good. Maybe he'd owl her in a few months, send her some tickets. He'd always promised to give her tickets, and he wasn't intending on breaking that promise any time soon.

"It isn't?" Surely if he'd just tried to get on a team in america. It would have been easier then. But he couldn't change anything that had happened. They had a great time together, and it had just come to an end. He wouldn't trade anything that had happened really. Things had been good. He'd had fun with Fallon. Now it was just sad that it was over. "But...I kind of did? I mean...why didn't I just swap to a team in America. At least then I would have been closer." Sure it was his dream to play for the Magpies, but you gave up things for the people you loved. Finn shrugged, smiling sadly at Treyen. "I just...hope shes happy." You know. If anything, he wanted that to happen.

"My own advice?" Truth was. He couldn't actually remember what advice he had given to Treyen. But it must have worked. Because Treyen was happy right? But...could he just tell him what the advice had been?

Oh maybe they were looking at brooms. Why of course they would be. So off to the shelves she went. And yes, there they were! "Hello! Welcome!" Nancy greeted the students there with a smile, hoping they were finding everything they were looking for. Or didn't need any help. Hang on, was she supposed to ask them? But no, they would come to her if they needed something right? Err...

Before she got to dwell on this further, she heard a voice presumably addressing her, causing her to turn around on her heels. "Hello!" Oh okay, her first REAL customer. "I'm Nancy." Not really what the girl had asked her for but you know. She didn't really care. She was just doing what she felt was appropriate. And introducing herself seemed like a good idea to her.

A broom for someone who hasn't owned a broom before..."Hmm." Nancy let her blue eyes wander around the room for a moment, allowing them to rest on random brooms for a moment. Yes. Right. Uhm. "What do you need it for? Do you play Quidditch?" She asked the girl with a small smile, trying to guess her age. She did go to Hogwarts already right? At least she looked old enough.
"No. But I plan on trying out for the team. I'm gonna be a seccond year in the fall." Jen stated simply.

It was Carter and Simon's badge... not hers.
Simon had to admit he felt embarished to admit the truth of the situation, especially to Selina. He knew, at least in the past, that she looked up to him and to him his disbelief in himself was a weakness many wouldn't suspect of him. And competators of him tended to use against him to make him seem inferior. Would she understand?

"Words of wisdom to live by," he mused with a polite, somewhat amused chuckle. And it was words like that that proved to Simon that Selina was no longer the thirteen year old he had last spent any quality time with. It seemed her life had helped her grow into the obviously smart young woman she was in front of him now. And with response showing no negative reaction to his uncertain behavior, the former Gryffindor did his best to try and relax. His hand slowly lowering and returning back absently to his side.

"I've missed you too....Captain," he replied truthfully, adding the title that was rightfully Selina's now that he and Carter were no longer at school. And she had earned it with her skill and dedication to the game.

Words of wisdom? Selina was not exactly someone who she would classify as wise. The thing was that Selina could not exactly understand and process that Simon Bennett thought she was wise. That was ironic because Selina could not see herself in that manner; she was deft at Quidditch and divination. Out of all of her friends she was not really the most brilliant. Her other friends up kept that title brilliantly. So calling her wise just sounded like a foreign tongue.

The redhead shrugged and said, "Wisdom? Who me? Nay, you're thinking of Kurumi or Gideon. I do the Quidditch thing.". It was true. She was not putting herself down. All she was doing was stating the facts.

When he said he missed her as well she beamed. She did not often get letters from Simon Bennett, so hearing him talk and say that he missed her made her want to hug her captain. It was weird hearing him call her captain. A blush graced her lips and she stammered, "Oh well, I'm not really...hearing you say that...it's weird.". The fifteen year old couldn't help but say it.

Ethan let out a small snort and rolled his eyes. "Your window display is woefully trapped in the Dark Ages," he said haughtily. "My father will be offended by your failure to properly advertise the latest and greatest of all things Quidditch-related."

He then caught his own reflection in the display case and patted a stray blonde hair back into place.

She gave the girl a smile. “Never did find him, in case you were wondering.” She, of course, was talking about Damien-the-impossible-to-find.

“Looking to buy a broom?” she inquired motioning to the selection in front of the younger girl.
Erm. Had she mistaken the person? That wouldn’t be a first. Man, at least it wasn’t as bad as the time in her first year… Never mind. ‘Umm… yes?’, Gwen answered, not fully convinced of what she was saying. Hmm. The one with the cat. It could have been her. Huh? Find who? ‘Oh’, she gave a small nod, even though she had no idea who the girl was talking about.

With her eyes fixated on the broom in front of her, Gwen didn’t look back at the other girl as she heard the question. Was she here to buy a broom? Was she even going to try out? Was she afraid? I seriously need to figure this out…, the fourth year told herself. ‘I don’t know’, Gwen finally replied, just not to leave that question hanging. ‘You?’

Simon couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as Selina shrugged at his choice of words acting as if to fully deny she had any wisdom in her body. "You shouldn't think so less of yourself. Quidditch and wisdom or knowledge can co-exist. I'd like to think I was an example of that at least," he remarked curious as to her reasoning that it wasn't possible for her to be smart.

The mention of Gideon was interesting though seeing as the new boy had been touched upon more in a conversation with the red head's mother then Selina herself. But that was another topic all together and seeing the fact that she once had a crush on him, Simon wasn't sure talking about her boyfriend was a good idea. So back to the topic at hand.

"To say they can't is like saying all beaters are as crazy as the likes of Blunt and I doubt thats true," he added with a chuckle. That was a joke...Jacob was the only one who certainly fit that description. Others like himself when he played beater as captain weren't bad.

Quidditch and wisdom could co-exist, Selina did believe that. However, Selina did not believe it was some trait that she embodied. It was not that she was being hard on herself, personally Selina thought she was a pretty stellar person, but wisdom was not up her ally. She did well enough in school, but she was no scholar. She was an athlete. That was her niche and she was alright with the stereotype that marked her.

But she thought it best not to degrade herself in front of Simon. He was someone she looked up too and she knew him well enough to know that he would not allow her to degrade herself. There would be some chastising due for her if she even began to do that in front of her Captain. He was a nice bloke and always saw the best in people which was probably the source of her crush on him when she was younger.

Ah yes, beaters. How should she phrase this to him? When he left Hogwarts she was still happily a Chaser and, although the it was still her favorite Quidditch position to play, she moved to beater for Carter's Captainship and had stayed there ever since so she could watch her team carefully. "Well... its ironic you say that... because, well, I'm a beater now."

Anya was no longer a first year!! WOO HOOOOO! Which meant... she was allowed her own broom! Her older brother offered to take her broom shopping. But being the big girl that she was, she wanted to take a look at them on her own first.

And so she was at the quidditch store eyeing the rows of brooms. The pretty, pretty brooms.

Laura had decided it was time to buy herself a broom, she didn't really like the school brooms though why she needed one she had no idea, maybe she wanted one for fun, she was looking around when she saw Anya. "Hi Anya, have you come to buy your own broom as well?"

Exactly, the Flying Instructor would be best if he leaves his cane back at the broomshed. And Keefer, of course. You couldn't go wrong with either of them. Granted, the one who held the job of teaching them was Vindictus. Keefer served as a representative and guide.

With a smile, he waved them goodbye. See? He was still going to be around, in Diagon, like he said.

Back to Finn.

That was it. He shouldn't have mentioned this. Ever. Because now Finn was looking slightly sad, or completely sad, or...not at all like himself. All because of Treyen too, because he'd asked about New York and Fallon. It was perfectly clear that Treyen could deal with problems that required for some boy to get a girl back, or...simply get a girl, but to let one go...he didn't even want to do that. Much less talk about it.

Yet he brought it up.

"It isn't solely your fault. It takes two, you know? A relationship," but he knew that in his particular case a while back it was all his fault, right now, Finn's case, was different. And no, it wasn't just Finn's fault. Maybe it was supposed to happen? Them breaking up? Life didn't want them together right now? Treyen refused to believe that, but that was all his mind could come up with at the moment.

"Maybe..," perhaps Finn was right, and he could've gone to America instead, but..., "...I really don't know." It was best to be honest.

If we're going to hope for something, "I hope you're too." It wasn't just about Fallon, okay? And after seeing Finn's face, he decided he wanted him to smile as much as possible. Perhaps they ought to stop talking about this, then.

Oh, his advice? "You said to talk to her, tell her how I felt, tell her everything," which wouldn't work in his case, "But...this doesn't apply here, now." Clearly, Finn had taken his own advice before breaking up, hence why they reached said decision.
