Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment

https://i.postimg.cc/3x866t2c/wiseac...ent-banner.jpg
Located in Diagon Alley’s North Side, Wiseacres prides itself in bringing you only the best equipment at a price no one can beat. The shop's name is emblazoned in gold letters on the large glass window to the left of the double doors. The window is home to a display of merchandise ranging from floo powder to fanged frisbees, star charts to sneakoscopes. In the middle of the display sits an advertising blackboard that every so often announces a sale.

Despite the wide array of products available, the interior of the shop is neatly organized. Upon walking in, the first things quests will notice is a display of telescopes ideal for Hogwarts students located just to the right of the doors. Maps and star/moon charts are rolled up and stacked on a rack beside the display. Games are displayed on a table toward the middle of the shop; concealers and detectors are shelved along the left wall. Several dark wood shelving units line the rest of the floor space. Each aisle is clearly marked with the type of merchandise it contains.

When you finish shopping, please make your way to the counter at the back of the shop. Here you can check out, inquire about gift wrapping or other services offered, and purchase breakable or expensive objects, such as rememberalls, hourglasses, crystal balls, and invisibility cloaks, kept in a locked glass cabinet behind the counter. In the market for a flying carpet? Those are kept behind a locked door next to the counter; only the shopkeeper can open it. Should anyone try to enter the showroom without permission, a caterwauling charm will sound. If you need help finding anything, the shopkeeper will be happy to assist!

Kaiser had no reason to be in here, not really. Actually, he had no reason to be anywhere near Diagon Alley today, and yet here he was, his restlessness having brought him impulsively down south. A couple of weeks almost solely in the presence of muggles had been enough for him to start craving wizarding company once again.

Of course, once he had arrived in Diagon Alley, Kaiser hadn't really known his next step. He hadn't written to any friends asking them to meet up - it had really had been a very spur of the moment kind of thing - and had been thinking mostly about just being in the presence of magic more than any specific people. Next time, he decided, he would think ahead, and see about meeting up with Kodee or something.

Having decided to just wander around and see if he bumped into anyone, Kaiser had been browsing in the shops for the last half an hour or so. He didn't have so much as a knut on him - only muggle money he had recently managed to... acquire - but that didn't mean he couldn't look. So that was exactly what he did, and what led to him milling around the 'Timepieces' section of the shop, eyeing the customisable clocks with an altogether unreadable expression on his face.

Due to the unpredictable and often unfavourable nature of the British weather, even during summer, Nova didn't make many trips to Diagon Alley. As charming as the magical street could be, shopping there when it was raining or windy became a hassle rather than an enjoyable outing, and the Ravenclaw refused to put herself in that position - she liked to take her time, be able to stop and talk to people if she fancied it, and maybe even grab an ice cream.

No, you would never see her rushing to grab the stuff on her list.

Having already bought uniform tailored to the small growth spurt she'd undergone over the last few months, Nova headed into Wiseacres in search of a Revealer and some enchanted candles. It was as she was heading for the till that she spotted the boy, and changed direction without hesitation.

"Kaiser! Hi!" she said with a smile, carefully picking her way towards him.

Schmoop has a lists to buy and Schmoop is here to buy stuffs.

Ears fluttering, Schmoop walked into the shop and looked around for the stuffs to buy. His pockets were full of cookies in case Schmoop saws his Hogwarts studentsies. Schmoop could give them cookies if he saws them!!

Now where are the stuffs Schmoop needs to buy??

The clock was a curious object, and that was even accounting for the fact that most items in this shop could be considered curious. Kaiser still wasn't totally used to magical items, though he supposed that was simply because he had spent so long immersed in the muggle world, exposed to the wizarding side of things at a comparatively late age. But anyway, the point was, he found the clock curious, and for all kinds of reasons. He was just mulling over whom - if anyone - he might include on an enchanted clock of his own if he ever amassed the money to get one, when he heard his name, and the timepiece was driven clear from his mind.

Kaiser recognised the voice before he turned his head to seek out its owner, and was already grinning by the time he spotted her. "Hi Nova," he greeted her in return, sticking his hands into his pockets out of habit as he took a few steps through the shop to help close the distance. "Are you shopping for school things?" Did it matter? Not really; mostly Kaiser was glad to have encountered a friend, which had sort of been the whole point of his trip, after all.

Mary Muldoon cautiously entered the shop, wanting nothing more than a telescope and her trunk. She walked in, surveying the scene, and simply walked past any social interaction. She grabbed a telescope, and walked over to the trunk area.

She expected the trunk to be heavy, so she set the telescope down and prepared to pull the trunk up, but she should have known better. This of course, was a magical trunk. It was light. She grabbed it and the telescope before going to the cashier and buying both items.

After a few muffled 'excuse me's to other customers, Nova was standing beside Kaiser. She offered a cursory glance at the things he'd been looking at - clocks much like the ones some of her family had - but offered no comment on them, a normal part of her everyday routine. Her face was most likely pointing to 'shopping' right then, which is exactly where she'd told her parents she would be.

Due to her complete honesty, she wasn't sure what the point was. BUT there were more important things to focus on now, like the presence of a friend. Kaiser's grin was a welcome sight. "I just got my uniform," Nova nodded, holding up the Malkin's bag in indication. "Came in here to get some extra stuff." She did almost ask whether he, too, was shopping for school things, but it wasn't exactly a question or answer she was interested in.

"How's your summer been? Done anything exciting?"

Honestly Nettie could not believe that summer was more than half way done. Between U-17 and the drama between her parents, it had flown by in the blink of an eye. She was not NEARLY as rested as she had hoped she would be, but at least she was getting stronger through Quidditch practice. It wasn't easy, trying to balance...well, everything, but considering how far she had come when it came to dealing with her emotions, she was proud of herself.

She was doing a bit of school shopping today - she tried to do it in chunks so she could avoid home as much as possible - and as she wandered by the wizarding equipment shop, she paused. She stared at the window, trying to remember if she had stopped by here or not. She went to go pull out her list, to see if she had crossed the items off the list and...

...no list. She must have left it at home. OR in her locker at practice.

Well. Boo.

While his sister was with their dad over in Ollivanders, Eiji made his way elsewhere in the Alley. Upon making quick work of picking up his updated textbooks, the fourth year decided to wander into Wiseacre's for - shockingly - no real purpose other than to browse. Something he rarely did as he preferred to have all his actions have purpose. He had not been back on English soil for too long, but already the familiar sound of his native tongue was bringing a comfort. Not that his Japanese was rubbish, it was just exhausting trying to translate all the time as he had not yet acquired that level of fluency.

Not that he would admit this to anyone and he was not going to dwell on whether or not Minako had picked up on such.

Wandering aimlessly, he happened upon Trinetta and...smirked. "Misplace another locket?"

Just as Nettie was debating whether or not she wanted to go ask about the cost of a pair of earrings on display, she heard a familiar voice. A voice that immediately lightened her mood. She turned to face Eiji with a grin, despite the fact that he was bringing up her necklace AGAIN.

It had been LITERALLY over a year since the incident. Was he ever going to let that go?

Probably not, knowing him. Although honestly, she'd rather he be bugging her about this than some of the other stupid things she'd done. Like duplicating a stuffed dragon and using the innocent thing as a pawn in her emotional manipulation game.

"It wasn't a locket, it was a Snitch necklace," she replied with a smirk. AHA! Point Nettie! "Did you come all the way back from Japan just to annoy me?" she joked with a grin.

Nope. Never.

And it was the more benign thing that he could bring up time and time again, so she should reflect upon his kindness every time that he did do so. Or perhaps she should be concerned that he did not bring up her more...malignant acts. Not forgiven and not forgotten, simply buying his time on the subject. Though not for revenge, no. His feelings on that subject were far more complicated than that.

"Oh. Right," says with an amused gleam in his green-hazel eyes. No, point to Eiji because it was yet another manner in which he easily ruffled her feathers. "No, actually. Just from Ollivanders."

"Ollivanders? Did something happen to your wand?" Nettie asked in concern, raising an eyebrow. She knew in the back of her mind that his sister was starting school this term, but wasn't currently putting two and two together. After being used to Eiji being at school without her, she just assumed he was off doing his own thing as per usual.

"So...how was Japan? Was the alchemy class everything you wanted it to be and more?" she asked with a grin.

It took him a second longer than it should have for him to realize that she thought something was wrong with his wand. His wand was perfectly functional and not broken, thank you. "Not for me, for my sister, Rebecca. She's starting Hogwarts," he said as a sort of refresher since she obviously had forgotten. Hardly fair of him to expect her to remember every detail about himself anyway.

"Japan was fine and alchemy was fantastic," he replied with a shrug, not particularly wanting to go into too many details about his struggles with being there. "My uncle had me join his performance calligraphy club too...it's bloody kanji on a large scale. The brush is as long as a person and just as heavy."

NIFFLERS! 04-18-2019 02:38 AM

The small Niffler's senses were on hyperdrive. There were so many shinies in the alley that he honestly wanted to nab them all and stuff everything he could inside his pouch. But the crème de la crème was in Wiseacre's.

The moment he saw numerous items glisten from the window was the moment he made a mad dash across the street and snuck in as someone entered the shop. For a moment, he stared in awe. He was in Niffler heaven.

It was then he started sneakily grabbing the shiniest of items from the shelves, paying no attention to any humans that might have been wandering about the place.

SneakySeverusSnape 04-18-2019 03:14 AM

All Analiese E. Senchuri needed from Wiseacre's was a telescope. She could fit all of her stuff neatly inside her trusty cream coloured bag that she was wearing that very minute. She wouldn't need a trunk. Trunks took up so much space. She didn't quite understand why people chose trunks over just casting an Undetectable Extension Charm on something more space-saving. Anyway, where were the telescopes? Analiese started looking for telescopes but then got distracted by a nearby lunarscope. She debated whether to buy it or not for about... 20 minutes? The girl decided to buy it. Now, back to her old mission: find a telescope. After a very tedious ten minutes, she finally found them. She held both the lunarscope and the telescope in her hands and looked whether there was anything else interesting in the shop. By the time she got to the counter, Analiese was holding one lunarscope, one telescope, a pair of omnioculars, some Spellotape, one star chart and one moon chart. Just by looking at her that moment you would know that she was into astronomy. She then purchased the items and placed the items tidily in her bag. Next, the 11-year-old walked out of Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment.

Trinetta was oblivious to the Niffler running his way through the displays of the store for obvious reasons and nodded as Eiji explained why he had been in the shop. Of course! How could she have forgotten? "That's right! I can't believe she's starting school this year!" she said with a grin. "That's so exciting, getting your first wand. Hope it's going well for her...I almost set the counter on fire during my first shopping trip there," she admitted with a small shrug like it was nothing. That grumpy man had put out the fire right away so it wasn't like it was a big deal or anything. No harm done.

In true Eiji fashion, he stated simply that it was fantastic and then didn't follow that up with ANY detail. Ugh. It was like pulling teeth sometimes, talking to this kid. She smiled a little at his next bit, though. "Had you join? So he FORCED you basically?" she asked with a small smirk. "Wait so you were writing kanji...with giant paintbrushes?" she said slowly, making sure she had that right. She could barely write kanji with normal quills, let alone a paint brush that was as tall as her. The mental image of Eiji trying to write with a giant paint brush immediately popped in her brain, and she wasn't sure whether to laugh or...

Her thoughts were suddenly stopped as she felt a small tickle on her arm. She looked down and her eyes widened as she saw that a GIANT black beetle had landed RIGHT on her exposed forearm. It was about the size of a galleon, and had about a bazillion prickly legs coming out of its hideous body. It slowly started to scuttle along her arm, its antennae twitching a bit and...that was all it took to completely break her brain. The whole thing took about 0.02 seconds, but it felt like a lifetime in her eyes.

That's because Nettie was usually a pretty brave person...but not when it came to bugs.

She SCREAMED out the top of her lungs, followed by some babbling swears that were a mix of English and French and gibberish that was no language at all as her arms FLEW above her head wildly, trying to get the beetle off of her. IT HAD TOUCHED HER! WITH IT'S GROSS BEETLE BODY! AND ITS EVIL LITTLE LEGS AND ANTENNAE AND...

She managed to stop moving her arms around long enough to notice that the beetle had flown off of her, which was not a surprise considering how her brain had basically short circuited just now and caused her to go in to complete meltdown mode. She stared for a split second at the spot the beetle had been...before her eyes rolled in to the back of her head and she began to crumble to the ground in a dead faint.

Yeah. Trinetta Gladin did NOT DO BUGS.

Trinetta & the niffler

He was oblivious to these reasons, though he had never really been all that aware of many things to begin with. Selective awareness was one of his more insufferably personality traits, truly. "Is it...odd that I already hardly remember my wand sorting experience?" he found himself asking, realizing only then and there that he really had no recollection of the event. Nothing positive and nothing negative. Perhaps that selective awareness had struck once again, filtering out a memory that had no real business staying inside his head and opening that space up to something more impactful. "I'm sure she will be fine. She far to resilient for her own good."

Stupidly so. Literally.

"She'll likely pester you," he informed her as a bit of an after thought. He felt the need to warn a few people of this tendency of Rebecca's, her warm curiosity and innocent nosy nature. Though he could do without her getting too close to Trinetta. That nosy nature was something they shared and he really, really, did not need Trinetta to rub off on his impressionable little sister. At all. Thanks. "She is easily distracted by anything bird though. I tend to conjure birds for her."

Ug. He did not want to explain this any further. He hadn't even gone into the attire required or anything else - like how completely rubbish he was at it and how much better at it Rebecca was. She was far more fluid than himself. It was a comment he was always receiving on his brush strokes...unlike Rebecca. "My uncle is the sort that when he makes a suggestion, you listen," he replied easily, trying not to over think nor over share. "....but yes. Performance calligraphy was one of my extra curricular activities. Himitsumahou requires all students participate in at least two but no more than three, or else one's dedication is brought to question."

Realizing that he opened the door for her to inquire as to what the second activity was, Eiji turned his head away to look at the shelves yet again...though he was looking at nothing in particular. And it was during this 'nothing in particular' looking that Trinetta started SCREAMING. Shrilly at that. Ears ringing and heart giving a violent lurch as his head spun around to look at her, Eiji honestly expected to see that inferi army from a few terms ago suddenly storming Diagon Alley.

........only he saw nothing at first - seeing as the beetle had already flown away by this point - and in the next moment Trinetta's eyes were rolling back in her head and she was.....falling. "O-Oi OI OI OI O-OI!"

...............................

Instincts betraying him, because honestly he SHOULD have been pulling for his wand and not rendering himself helpless, his arms shot out to wrap around her and made an honest effort to catch her. Letting out a gruff grunt as he took on her full weight, his knees buckled slightly and heels pressed into the floor of the shop to try and create some sort of equilibrium so he too wouldn't go crashing to the floor. Managing, somehow, he first looked down at her face and brushed some of her blonde hair away from it. "Trinetta?" he murmured, being careful not to shake her and worry half prominent in his tone. "....O-Oi."

And then he noticed the culprit: a niffler. A niffler who was currently having a real go at the shelves and pocketing everything in its bottomless pouch. Trinetta was...afraid of nifflers?

.....interesting.

"OI!" he barked at the creature, who had just so happened to pocket one of the last hourglasses he had decided moments earlier that he needed. "Put that back!"

As Nettie slowly started to come back to Earth, her color returned to her face and her eyelids fluttered as she started to wake up. Had she known that she still LITERALLY FAINTED at the sight of big bugs crawling on her - something that hadn't happened in at least two years, maybe more - she probably would have warned Eiji about it. Not so much WARNED him, but at least mentioned it in passing as a fun tidbit about herself in conversation at some point. Fun only because she had never anticipated fainting in front of him. In a wizarding junk shop, of all places.

As she opened her eyes, she was...confused, obviously. Why was she on the ground? Had she been shopping? She couldn't remember. Why did she have the urge to smack at her forearm? The last thing she remembered was asking Eiji about writing kanji with a giant paintbrush...OH MY MERLIN. EIJI. WHY WAS EIJI HOLDING HER LIKE THAT!? If she hadn't literally just passed out, she would have jumped up in complete shock, but she was still dizzy and hazy and trying to figure out what the heck had happened.

Also, he was yelling at someone. Telling someone to put something back. Wait, was the shop being ROBBED? Oh no, they were in the middle of a robbery! She'd obviously been hexed by the burglar! That was why she was on the floor! And Eiji was trying to SAVE HER! How NOBLE of him!

Still half out of it, her gaze focused a little on the area that Eiji was directing his yelling at, and her eyes widened. She could see the niffler, but in her hazed state, she only saw...a black blob. WAIT, that was why she had fainted. A beetle! A GIANT beetle, the biggest one she had ever seen. Now it was after the hourglasses! "Whyisthebeetlerobbingthestore?" she muttered before slumping against the nearby shelf. She needed some...water or something. Somewhere in her foggy brain, she remembered the Quidditch World Cup water bottle souvenirs that Ethan had bought her, and she reached for her bag, her hand haphazardly feeling at it, trying to get the water.

Jillian thought that it would be a good idea for her to go around Diagon Alley and buy some of her school supplies... Not that they would ran out but with all the kids running around and buying the supplies, she needed to double time on that one too. Plus her father has been pestering her to buy all of the things she needed for school and that includes her stationery.

She loves to shop but not for supplies. She'd rather go to the nearest ice cream parlor for something sweet or to a boutique where she can buy more clothes. Packing light for school was an option, as her father stated. Sigh. She's not going to bother packing too much. Jillian walked into the shop and found herself scrolling through awesome things she can find. There are a ton of selection but of course she opted for her favorite color. Her eyes set into a really cute mauve colored candles, it definitely caught her eye. She smiles looking at it and uttered "This is pretty" checking the lovely details around it. She really likes this. She is definitely going to buy this one. This and maybe one more if she has enough cash to spare. She's still going to stop by the bookstore and ice cream before going home.

Ohhhh and also inks. She needs that as well.

This shop was probably the only one Rory enjoyed in Diagon Alley. He got most of his equipment and clothes when he was away on his arts internship in Eastern Europe. Still, it wouldn't be the start of a new term if he didn't visit Wiseacre's. He walked in casually, his wand was poking out of his pocket and his hand was tucked safely inside it.

He headed for the right side of the shop where he usually finds his magic paintbrushes. A girl was inspecting a candle there, so he made sure to dodge her while he went for the next shelf. He picked up a set of paintbrushes knocking over a vase of some kind and it bounced off the floor between him and the girl with a loud clank. "Watch out!" He extended his leg to keep the vase from hitting the girl's leg. "Sorry." Did the shopkeeper see? H didn't want to be thrown out yet.

Jillian's eyes are scouting high and low for more items. Should she buy more stuff? Technically this candle is not part of her shopping list. It's only in her hand because it looks really, really pretty and who can pass up pretty? Jillian can't. She nods and smiles, yes this is definitely going into her cart. She notices a few people coming in and out of the store but no one she knows in particular. She minded her own business by walking a few steps towards more stuff.

She is trying to remember what she needs to buy, she's thinking hard enough until an object bounced into the floor and a guy's voice spoke to her. She gasped rather loudly, clutching the candle tighter in her hand and facing the guy now. Speechless, at first but she saw that he managed to save her-- sort of. "It's fi-fine" taking a deep breath before speaking up "you're not suppose to play in here" she said then looked at the shopkeeper who may be around. "How is your leg?" did the vase hurt it?

Cassius Dolohov had a whopping second date with a Miss Arabella. It wasn't that their first date had gone AMAZINGLY...it had seemed like a normal date to Cassius, but he didn't mind seeing someone who knew the ins and outs of Quidditch like Cassius did. Did he miss it? Of course. Was he feeling regretful of his decision? Absolutely. Especially with the season starting up soon. At the end of the day, though, he knew he had done the right thing for himself. Quidditch was his PASSION, and that would always be the case; however, playing no longer brought him joy. He would get his trainer certification and do his job from there. He was even eyeing a team or two to buy for himself if his father thought the profit would be good enough.

Anyway, speaking of Quidditch...Cassius thought their second date could be during the DAY and perhaps spark her old love of the sport. Arabella's, that is. He was supposed to meet her in front of the store in five minutes' time. He was dressed casually, but suavely if you asked him. Where are you, Bells? he thought to himself as the time waned.

And then he had quite the intrusive thought...what if the day was a bad time? Arabella would need to find a babysitter...what if that was hard? Now he felt bAD. BAD BAD BAD.

UGH.

UGH.

She was running late. Maybe by ten or fifteen minutes.

Seren hadn't wanted to get up this morning, and getting her dressed was another hassle. Not to mention getting the child to eat before she dropped her off with Bran. But thankfully Bran could easily distract the little girl with creatures he was working with, or taking her to the nearby garden. Then, Arabella herself had to head back home, change, and leave food out for their pets. Yeah, she knew being a single mother would be hard, but maybe not this hard? Anyway. She currently did her best to power walk through all these people; forgetting how crowded Diagon Alley became over the summer. Eventually, she spotted Cassius just a few feet away and actually shoved someone to get by.

Catching her breath, she stopped next to him and smiled. "I'm sorry for being late. Kids," She playfully rolled her eyes at him.

Honestly, Cassius didn't mind Bells being late. He had never been that stuffy about it to begin with, but he knew she had a kid. It was just one, right? HE ruffled his hair as he tried to remember, and he KNEW it was something he should remember. Merlin. But it wasn't long before Miss Arabella had arrived, and Cassius smiled and kissed her cheek. "Hey...no problem. It's okay. I get it. I don't mind people watching for a bit." He chuckled and held the door open for her as they stepped inside.

And it was like stepping into the past for him. When he was sixteen...at Hogwarts still....when he was in love with Adelaine Thornton...and Paige was still his very closest friend. He wished he could have warned that self about the future. Whatever you do...just don't get involved with Paige...don't make it romantic...stay platonic, mate... is what he would have said.

...Could he get a time turner, please???

He pushed the nagging nostalgia to back of his mind as he glanced around. He knew he'd get a couple of looks from people shopping - he HAD played for the Falcons for many years before transferring to France, and then later to Canada. But he was glad his fame was not as much as it had been before - that pregnancy fake rumor? It was all past him....the time he had almost been POISONED by a crazed fan? Merlin. He was glad to have a little privacy back...even if it was just a bit. Kids and fathers alike still asked him for his photo and autograph....he just hoped today he could not have to deal with that.

And that's when he realized... "Wait...Bells..this is the wrong shop!" He laughed a bit. "I told you the name of the wrong shop! I meant the QUIDDITCH shop!" He rubbed the bridge of his nose and laughed. "Oh Merlin, I'm bloody stupid!" He could HEAR Cox making fun of him now.

At least he was understanding. She had been on a few dates where the guy would get upset she'd be a little late because she had to do motherhood things. She didn't bother sticking around to find out how the dates would've gone after that. Arabella was sure they found someone else to occupy their time.

Stepping into the shop, her green eyes darted around at the familiar setting and how everything had hardly been changed. She remembered that time her dad came with her and bought her the most expensive telescope they had. That was back in her days when she was obsessed with astronomy. But then again, Bells did name her bakery Constellations. Walking over the the telescopes, she looked them over, considering maybe giving one to Seren, or exploding snaps. Her child had very different interests as she did as a little girl. Bells was always into fashion and quidditch; the two hardly went together.

She knew they weren't in the quidditch shop, but didn't want to correct Cassius on it. Arabella simply smiled at him and laughed a little. "You're not stupid. We can always head to the quidditch shop; it's a few doors down. But I guess this date will be a little extended,"
