The Courtyard

https://s26.postimg.org/j5zcgzz21/courtyard.png

The Leaky Cauldron sits auspiciously as part of the Muggle World, the portal to Diagon Alley. Stepping out the back door of the Leaky Cauldron, it leads to the open patio that is deceivingly large. Once inside the Courtyard the stone path circles around the green area, which is a popular place for young children to relax upon during summer holidays and is also a popular place for, people to lie out and have lunch.

On the green, a tall stone fountain sits and waits for a lucky sickle or two to find its way to the bottom of the fountain. However, the incredible thing about the fountain is the stone is rests upon. The stone floor underneath and surrounding the fountain is charmed to light up with each step a person makes on the stone floor. The color traces the outside of the traveler’s foot and each new step is a fresh new color.

Out on the green surrounding the fountain is the home to a garden of flowers that are freshly planted. Each little patch of flowers is also charmed by the former owner, Harley, to smell of a different kind of treat at the Leaky Cauldron, i.e.. Butterbeer Flowers.

Off to the side of the Courtyard, a winding stone pathway leads to a quaint little pond filled with a hundred carp fish that Ryoma, the old owner, had specially imported from Japan. This little pond is tucked in the back of the Courtyard and serves as a little treat to all who happen upon it. Next to the pond is a simple wooden box with a money hole in the top. Dispense ten sickles and the box produces fish food to feed the carp.

Lucy asks that everyone, including little witches and wizards, pick up after himself or herself.

Annalise laughed, leaning in to grab a chip. "Thank you so much for taking me here today Manolo. It was very sweet of you." She smiled, chewing thoughtfully before speaking again. "Have you signed up for the bowling ball?"

"It's my pleasure, love." He said, reaching to steal the chip she was aiming for. He stuck his tongue out before popping the chip in his mouth.

"The bowling ball?" He asked, mouth partly full. "I'm unaware of what that is. I've been so caught up in this unknown creatures thing."

Annalise blushed at his petname for her, her jaw dropping as she feigned being offended at her chip being stolen. "Well Manolo Black, I'd never!" She giggled, sticking her fingertip in some of the whipped cream that topped their Dementor's Kiss Delight. Oh yes, he was gonna get it.

"Yes, the bowling ball that's being held soon, did you not sign up?" She raised a brow, eying him nervously before getting his nose with the whipped cream.

Muahahaha.

He looked at her strangely, "Not that I know of..." Manolo stated, hesitantly. Should he have??? What is she talking about?? Heck, he could get fired and he wouldn't of known for months!

He stared, bug-eyed, "Ohhhh yoooou!" He attempted to lick off the whipped cream, "You have declared war, Williams!"

"Oh, well that's a shame. You should sign up. We could be a team."
She smiled, taking a bite of fish. Mmm. It was perfectly crispy and salted to perfection. "Have you tried this yet? It's pretty amazing."

Annalise laughed at the shock on Manolo's whipped cream face. "Oh me? Oh my!" She giggled, getting up and running around the courtyard. She took off her shoes, tossing them in the grass so she could run around barefoot. Might as well enjoy her last moments before he caught her.

Syd paced around the fountain and took a couple sips from her drink. It had been a while since she had seen Gidyun. They had kept in touch with the odd letters here and there and of course he hd been the one to help her get the job at the Ministry. Him and Becca were doing well which was good. Considering the relationship they now had she considered him to be a brother of sorts and she desperately needed her brother.

She valued his opinion though since his past was just as riddled with heartache as hers was. Not to mention that when she had been in her downward spiral he had picked her up and given her a direction. She was indebted to him. Now of course she was going to add to the debt by asking him to help her with this monumental problem.

His voice had her spinning around and throwing herself into his arms. Her blocks were up and she was careful not to touch skin so she wouldn't see anything she didn't need to. She squeezed him tight and had to fight back tears.

She pulled back abruptly and wiped her eyes. "They found me Gidyun."
He set his drink down just before she spun around and his hands went around her making sure he didn't touch her skin either. He'd experienced that once and just...never again. Or at least not if he could help it. His concern though appeared even more when she squeezed him tight, what was going on? His eyes went to hers when she wiped her eyes, "What do you mean they found you?" he asked a little sharper than he intended, but didn't take it back. "What happened?"

He hadn't been sure what the meeting was to be about but now his concern was a bit more. He knew a little of her past, and barely anything at all of her current situation. But to hear they'd found her? "Let's start again..." Maybe it wasn't who he thought it was that found her. "Who found you?"

Words bubbled up in a miasma of explanations, fears, and questions that all threatened to spill out in the worst case of verbal diarrhea known to man. For whatever reason though Gidyun had always had a good, calming effect on her so when he took a breath so did she. Finding her center Syd gathered her thoughts before answering his question.

"My parents." She sighed and took a seat back on the edge of the fountain. "Apparently my Grandmother died and her will was left with the lawyer, who has now disappeared. My mother and father decided that the one person who could find the lawyer...was me. So they hired a private investigator and...he found me."

She couldn't even begin to explain the terror she had felt the days leading up to him revealing himself. Then she had gone into meltdown mode as he had explained who he was and who had hired him and why. She wasn't even sure what she was going to do about the whole thing.

He let out an evil laugh as he jumped up to chase her around. She looked so lovely with the wind in her hair and a smile on her face. Manolo let her run around for a bit and then wrapped around his arms her waist to lift her and twirl her around. "You can't run away now!"

Her brain was starting to get a little fuzzy. "I think it's already began actually," She said quietly, tossing her blonde hair back. "I think I might skip though, it's running clear on through my birthday, and I think I'd rather spend that time at home with family and friends..."

She chuckled, lowering her head down until they were nose to nose. "Well then, I guess I'm afraid that I'm going to have to do this..." Annalise whispered, planting a feather-light kiss on his lips. It just felt so... right.

France had taught some very important things, one of them being how very little he missed Diagon Alley, not to say he had bared any affection for the place to begin with. It was so clustered and cramped. People as far as the eye could see. After a day of getting a few errands out of the way he felt he'd run into his quota of people and stopped by the Courtyard of the Leaky Cauldron. Gavin hadn't been under the impression it was empty, simply that he wouldn't be as crowded as the rest of the street and it didn't disappoint in that regard.

The man took a seat by the fountain, grimacing at the knuts, sickles and galleons that had found themselves in there, one way or another. A perfect waste, just like the ones at the Ministry. People did the strangest things when looking for luck.

He would keep his money. Thanks.

Putting down his bag he bent over to look for that quill.. "it had to be somewhere right?" he thought to himself.. digging around the bottom and on the sides of the bag… nope…nothing was there…. oh well he has to ask someone for a quill so he can scratch this off his list.

Seeing a man enter the Courtyard he saw him sit down… okay…time to go ask him.. he made his way over to him and asked "Hola…le sucede sue tiene" he started off in spanish realizing he was doing so he switched over to english "…ohh..im sorry english is my second language.. would you happen to have a quill??" hoping the man would be upset that he was speaking a different language to him.

The silence was interrupted, and not in the way he'd become used to it being interrupted but rather in another language completely. Sweet Merlin, his brain was only becoming re-accustomed to English and this man was going for a language Gavin had no knowledge in completely? Wow. Bravo. He had half a mind to rattle off about not speaking Spanish in French but that would have been counter productive because the man eventually switched to English and though it wasn't his first language either, he was well versed in it and could behave himself.

"A quill? No...'fraid I don't make a habit of walking around with one of those." He had several back in his office...but with the whole being locked out of the Ministry, those were a lost cause. The few others he had were all at home. This just wasn't the man's lucky day--

"Hang on, I think I might still have that pen in my pocket." The complementary one he'd gotten when he stopped by that Muggle Store a couple streets down. Gavin dipped into his pocket, feeling the metal at the tip and pulling on it. "Here you go." He didn't know what he needed it for specifically but it could have been life threatening or Ministry related. Who was he to stand in the way of potentially important documenation?

ohh.. no quill.. "I'm sorry to have bothered you…" he said while he started to walk away… but the man continued to talk to him.. "a pen will do" he told him while looking down at his list..

Standing awkwardly in front of the man he didn't know.. oh he found a pen.. "thank you" he said while taking the pen and scratching off his list.. there.. done.. giving the man his pen back he decided it was best for him to introduce himself.. "My name is Jose Mora… I just transferred from Brazil… my first time out of the country really." he confessed to the man..

he didn't know if he should stay or if he should leave… the man did look like he was busy or focused on something else.

How many people actually apologized when they'd wasted his time? Gavin could hardly think of any, in fact this might have been the first and he was approving. It was good when people could understand how precious his time was. He was the only one allowed to waste it...with an exception of a very small group of others who were allowed as well but with them it wouldn't be a waste.

"It's no problem." He said, taking his pen and shoving it into his pocket once more. Gavin didn't see what the man had needed it for because of his position and the place he was sitting but he would tell himself it'd been important to prevent himself from feeling like that had been a waste.

In the next breath introductions were happening. He supposed this was alright. Sitting at the fountain, he was in no rush to be anywhere. "Gavin Isaacs." He offered in response to the man giving his own name. Being new to the area explained the Spanish.

"Fascinating... Transferring, do you mean within the Ministry?" The name didn't sound familiar, he hadn't been one of the files he looked over. One more for the Touchers and Tacklers or was the man heading into a different Department? "Thoughts on the area so far?"

Jose smiled at the man.. he was glad that he didn't seem too upset that he bothered him.. "would you mind if I took a seat?" he asked hoping it was okay, he was walking around a lot today and his legs were mighty soar.

"Nice to meet you Gavin" smiling.. This is the second person he's met so far in London and they both seemed nice.. 2 for 2 sounded good to him. "Im coming from the Ministry of Magic in Brazil… i've worked with the creatures there.. for a long time… but I'd thought I'd see the world and so I came to London…. it rains here a lot" he's only been here a few days and it has already rained twice on him… he was used to the heat and wearing less clothing… he needs to teach himself how to properly layer his clothing..so he will be warm but not hot.

"It seems great..nice people…weather is different..I have to wear more clothes." he confessed.. he hasn't started to miss home yet which was okay.. he was waiting for it to kick in.. "so Gavin do you work in the Ministry?" Maybe he could have like lunch with him one day.. and try to figure the place out. or even yet maybe he was in his department…

"Go right ahead." Gavin said, gesturing to the expanse of fountain that lay before him. The man was free to have a seat, this was a public place afterall and he had no sole rights to the fountain in question. The man hadn't been looking for company when he first sat down but he supposed he didn't mind it either.

Oh good Merlin, one for Creatures huh? Gavin didn't know whether he should pity the man or jump straight to apologies. Harmony was a head case. Working there, the man would learn more about pulsating auras than he possibly wanted to. "It does rain quite a bit." Gavin agreed. It had rained earlier, briefly but it counted nonetheless. "The weather's a bit unpredictable like that but if you live here long enough, nothing surprizes you as much where the weather's concerned." At first he'd found it hard adjusting to this climate but that was probably because of all the weather charms they used back in France.

By all indications the man didn't seem to have any negative views. Good. That would make settling in that much easier. Gavin didn't really agree with the people comment but he would leave that where it was. "I do." He confirmed, deciding he'd answer his question instead. "Level 1 actually; Minister's Office." Level 4 wasn't that far from there but it wasn't a place he frequented.

"Ooh, your birthday!" He reached over and poked her, "Am I invited?" Manolo said softly, flashing his puppy dog eyes at her. "Or am I not cool enough?"

He felt her getting closer and kept pulling her closer. He wanted to be close enough to feel her heartbeat. The scent of her fruity-smelling shampoo filled his senses as he ran a finger lightly on her cheek. Then she kissed him. Her nice, soft lips was the thing he knew he missed in his life. Manolo pulled her even closer, if that was even possible. Everything was falling into place.

Jeremy was in an exceptionally good mood. Not that he was ever really in a bad mood, but he was especially bouncy today. He was very close to passing his final law exam - which he never thought he'd say, but his career had spiralled around into unseen territory since leaving the ministry. So, good mood, which meant he could enjoy time with his family. AAAAAAND Alfie was learning to talk, which was not only lovely, but hilarious.

He hitched his son up a little more in his arms until they got to the courtyard of the Leaky. Right... a quick glance told him it was safe to put down toddling Alfie to run around... "Hopefully he'll tire himself out and have a nap in a bit." he said, giving Brody a smile and Nova a wink. "Then you girls can have some mummy-daughter time without us in the way if you like." He directed that at Nova... he knew she was clingy and a little jealous of Alfie, so it was important for her to have Brody to herself every now and again, right?

"Come on Nova." Brody sighed, holding onto her little girls hand. She didn't get what the six year old was so jealous. She gave both her children equal attention. But the girl had spent most of her life as Brody's only companion, so she did get it. "Yes. You can have ice cream." Although it was the middle of winter, so she didn't know why the girl wanted it. It was so cold. She beamed as she looked up at Jeremy. "I'm sure he will." Because he often did. He usually had a lot of naps.

Smiling she helped Nova up into a seat, before sitting down herself. "It's nice to have some family time."

Jeremy kept one eye on Alfie, who was toddling around, prodding at grass, as he spoke to Brody. "Want me to go and order things? What would you like?" he asked, sticking an arm out to right Alfie as he tripped a little. Super dad to the rescue and whatnot. "An ice cream for the young lady... and..?" he looked expectantly at Brody.

"Nova...stay there." Because the girl did have a bit of a tendency to wander off. She really hoped that she wouldn't disappear into the alley. That would not be good. Brody looked up, watching her boyfriend, and smiled at him. "Strawberry for her." Because that was her favourite flavour, and she wasn't letting her have any of Cela's weird flavours. That was just weird.

Now what did she want? She hummed, thinking of what she wanted. "Cheese burger please love." Because she loved cheese burgers. yum.
