Phoenix Theatre https://s26.postimg.cc/cmz9fshjd/pho...e-banner-2.jpg Not far from the Tottenham Court Road subway station, on the north end of Charing Cross Road and at the corner with Flitcroft Street, awaits the Phoenix Theatre. The building itself has a long history, originally once being a factory and a music hall before becoming a West End theatre. It has a restrained neoclassical exterior, but features an Italianate style on the inside. Decorated ceilings and sculpted wooden doors can be found throughout the building. In the auditorium itself are elaborate golden engravings as well as many red seats, carpets, and curtains. |
Eva! (any anyone else who might want to crash :D) Aaron was nervous to say the least. He hadn't expected anything to come from a silly little date, especially not with someone so fond of Divination. Yet there was something about Laurel Vance that had kept the mid-thirty something former quidditch player quite captivated. Enough that they'd been dating for ... oh merlin, was it a year now? Two years since they met? Who knew? How did people keep track of these things? Patting his inside coat pocket to make sure it was still there, the blond wizard stood at the forefront of the theatre, waiting for his date to arrive. Although the thing about dating a seer was that she probably saw when he was arriving so she could either keep him waiting long or arrive shortly after him. It was like nothing could get by her. He hoped she was healing alright given the incidences at Hogwarts this past Spring, but was confident too that even with abrasions and scars, she'd still be beautiful. What he wasn't so confident in was seeing his nieces starting Hogwarts in September and while his brother and sister-in-law seemed okay with the dangers, he wasn't so sure about it. But they weren't in his care to make decisions for, alas.... |
Quote:
Dressed in a pink summer dress, the blond seer turned into the street that held the new theatre, the location for their date. She smiled to herself when she saw Aaron standing outside the forefront of the theatre, just like she knew he’d be. It was one of the perks of having an Inner Eye, she got forewarned of things. Laurel was very glad that all her burns had healed and that she had minimal scarring on her arms and legs and chest after the inferi attack. Aaron had been so worried for her, it had been cute and heart warming. Coming up to him Laurel went on impulse and gave Aaron a kiss on the lips before taking a little step back to smile warmly at him. "Hi Aaron!" |
Quote:
"How are you? Are you .... You look stunning." As always, honestly. "You're healing?" Truth be told, he probably asked her that every day since he heard of the incident. |
kinda crashing...at least same tl :3 @Kimmy Andrei Romanos still felt more like a stranger in his own skin than he felt like he lived in it. More often than not he found himself in a sort of out-of-body experience, looking down at himself, as he existed in this world. Slowly but surely he was feeling more himself in the days since departing Durmstrang. His mistakes, the reminders, all left behind in that place and with nothing but the new and unknown since be began working with mătuşă with the Russian Ministry. He even had a flatmate, peculiar as he may be, Asmund was more than a breath of fresh air and he certainly was pushing the 18-year-old to try new things. And Andrei could not always keep up and more than once had woken up a complete mess on the floor of their flat since he had entirely missed the bed the night before. Limits were now in place and enforced whenever they went out. But tonight...it was a change of pace. He wasn't in his dragon hide uniform yielding his wand and chasing down Dark creatures or herding other XXXXX ranked creatures back to where they ought to be. Nor was he particularly wallowing in his mistakes. Tonight was a rare night off and one where he had gained permission from his cousins to take a certain blonde out. Even if he did not deserve the opportunity to. The irony being that they were going to one of the places that he could have, in theory, been performing at had he accepted the offer to attend WADA. "Are you cold?" he asked her as they approached, his eyes briefly falling on the two adults outside. He could easily slip off his coat and drape it around her shoulders if that were the case. |
Quote:
But leaving the confines of Hogwarts also meant adjustments on her part. Change was something she was still a bit nervous about, but the fact that she was going to share a flat with Felicity come September was one she was looking forward to the most. On top of all that, Vivian had been taking loads and loads of Spanish lessons in preparation for university. It had been one of the requirements for admission, but learning a language was easily something she was willing to do and was passionate about. The tall Romanian guy she was currently walking with could vouch for that. Her hand on his arm, which she noticed had developed a bit more muscle, Vivian took a moment to let her surrounding in. She had seen the play venues at Hogwarts, but those were nothing compared to this one. The Phoenix Theatre looked grand. She liked it. There was that aura to it. Sort of felt like watching Coleslaw during his run for Mary Poppins the summer before seventh year. The performing arts was definitely something that growing on her. "Hmm?" She replied and looked up at Andrei, before giving the question some thought. Was it cold? Well, yes, the place was definitely cooler than outside. Give it some times before the temperature caught up with her. "I'm still okay now. Ask me again in a couple of minutes?" Vivian offered a small smile and a gently squeezed his arm. Wait, was that Professor Vance? What was she doing here? This...was an awkward time to be bumping into her head of house, honestly. |
Quote:
She was about to do a little twirl on the spot to show off her dress when her eyes landed on Vivian and a guy that she didn’t recognize. It wasn’t Flynn though, that was for sure. Turning her eyes to Aaron again she asked "When does the show start?" |
they match. pls Quote:
He did not follow quidditch, so the man was as foreign to him as this country was. As was the woman, who had not worked with his uncle and therefore any ties he may have had to Hogwarts between them was gone. She looked lovely, by the way. Though he had already said as much when he had gone to pick her up. This brought back memories of when he had taken Emilia out to a concert...and his uncle had driven them. The perks of being of age and the ability to apparate rather than needing an adult escort. His uncle was, by far, the most embarrassing person ever when it came to such matters. |
Quote:
Her blue eyes fell on both the adults again. "The woman was my Head of House," Vivian said. And it was even more awkward when Professor Vance saw her, so the former Head Girl offered a quick smile to her before looking away. "And the guy she's with... I'm not sure, but if my memory isn't failing me, I've seen him play against my aunt?" That was years ago, though. The quidditch rosters changed every season, so her memory could very much be blurry now. She lowered her voice a little bit. "Can I just say that it is a bit awkward seeing your former professors outside of school?" Because it was. It was like her professors had the ability to shed off their old skin for a new one whenever they were outside. So strange. He had told that, and even before seeing each other tonight. Memories of stargazing one night lingered a little bit in her mind. But despite how many times Andrei had told her she was lovely, Vivian could never resist that stupid grin on her face that she would try so hard to conceal. Except, well, that was right after she made sure her Aunt Elise wasn't throwing threatening looks between Andrei and her beater's bat when he had picked her up. Vivian understood that. She has had her fair share of insane aunts and uncles too. |
Quote:
"Ah, the Divination professor," he nodded, recalling the few instances that she had come up in their letters and two-way mirror conversations. His eyes drifted over to the fellow again, easily recalling Vivian's aunt and her quidditch career. His uncle and her had apparently had a few dealings here and there, including some misadventures while he was still employed at Hogwarts. Which meant that the guy was also a quidditch player, which meant very little to the Romanian. Chuckling a bit, he looked back to her as he made his way over towards the doors leading to their seats. "My uncle taught you as well," he pointed out. "Though he often states the same, seeing his students outside of Hogwarts. That sentiment has long since passed, I believe...though he did refer to it as a phenomenon similar to..." Has to take a pause to remember the former Astronomy professor's wording on the subject. "...like trying to understand the...Large Quasar Group...with only a protractor..." Did that make any sense to Vivian? He had only ever just smile and nodded when his uncle had spoken on such things. |
Quote:
What Vivian appreciated the most about Andrei is that he seemingly remembered even the details that wouldn't have been of any importance in a typical conversation. To her, the smallest things meant so much. But there it was, and she was helpless to the small smile that grew on her lips. "Yeah, exactly her." She couldn't find any direct relationship or even the slightest connection with the man accompanying Professor Vance, though, so she didn't have much to offer about him... just that Aunt Elise had probably tried knocking him off his broom in a match or two. Then again, she was praised and paid to do so anyway. The blond paused to remember Professor Flamsteed while he had been at Hogwarts. It had been so long, and it felt even more like history realising that she just graduated. "One term, in my first year." He was peculiar, she thought, but back then as a firstie, Vivian had thought highly of her astronomy professor. "He made us keep a pet rock as an assignment." That was, of all memories she tried to remember of him as her professor, the most distinct memory. She quietly hoped Professor Flamsteed didn't tell Andrei of anything she had done as a first year. Large quasar groups. That definitely tickled a part of Vivian's memory, one related to astronomy. Unfortunately for her, it wasn't enough to spark any kind of stocked knowledge because she had dropped Astronomy after her fifth year. She was, even until now, having mixed emotions about it, but she was juggling way too much on her plate for her to handle more than seven classes. "Familiar, but I'm afraid I can't remember all that anymore." Eh, she was a tad disappointed in herself. Her mind was shifting between the numerous Spanish phrases she had learned from the past few weeks, the necessities she had to prepare for living in a flat with Liss, hopefully retaining her knowledge from NEWT-level classes, and all things in between. And to think she thought all that stressful stuff would be over after leaving Hogwarts. |
subtle mentions of you two as well Quote:
"Good." He smiled at her, because last thing he wanted was seeing her pain. Although he wouldn't know if she was lying either. "I think we have about twenty minutes. Did you ... want to say hi?" Which was his way of asking, did they know her or him? Were they graduated? Was it less awkward seeing a former professor after you graduated? |
He had nothing further to add to that particular conversation and the study of Divination was not one that he particularly paid any real attention to. His own focuses had delved into elemental magic for which he was proficient in - his flame manipulation earning him top marks and helping propel him up in the initial ranks at the Russian Ministry - and m etallurgy along side metal charming. A branch of magic he would have taken up as his major had he accepted any of his acceptances to university. Instead his intense gaze was brought back to his date as she spoke of his uncle. "This does not surprise me in the least," he nodded with a small chuckle. "He had me keep one when I first moved in to help prove to him I understood the weight of responsibility." Though the 18-year-old often felt he understood that burden more than the former Astronomy professor did. "Even Atlas and Aries have them, though Atlas threw his in the lake in the backyard and Aries tried to gnaw on his while teething and knocked one of his teeth out." And no, he had not. His uncle took his professions very seriously and the professor-student confidentiality was among those. What happened between him and his students at Hogwarts, for the most part, remained at Hogwarts. He shook his head once more. "Nor can I. I have only ever been an amateur astronomer, as you know," he winked. Stargazing and the mythology revolving around them. That was about as in depth as the Romanian young man went. Inside now, Andrei was giving the lobby area a casual look over. It had been...a while since he had been inside a theater - the last time he had playing so vividly in his thoughts that his chest ached a little. "When do you begin your transition to Spain?" he asked after a few moments, spotting a few plush chairs they could sit down in and wait for the doors to the theater proper to open so they could be ushered into their seats. |

Perhaps having Professor Airey Flamsteed as an uncle meant getting used to his particular brand of weird. Vivian let out a laugh, but almost immediately lifted her hand to cover her mouth so she didn’t garner any looks from the people around. She was a bit pink on the cheeks now. Oops. “Did you name your pet rock?” The blond asked, because she felt that it was an important question and she was naturally curious. And… oh, wow. The thought of kids owning pet rocks was quite silly but, at the same time, kind of cute. Vivian Iona Fairfield was a huge softie for babies, given the number of young ones in her family now. “How did Professor Flamsteed react to all that?” Losing a tooth, though. Poor baby. Amateur astronomer. That very much elicited a light snort from the blond, but she beamed at him anyway. The fact that he could remember the entire story of Draco, or Balaurul in his native tongue, could at least speak of something otherwise. “That’s okay. I enjoy stargazing with you, anyway.” They both didn’t need to be professionals in astronomy to appreciate the sky and its heavenly bodies. His casual look at the lobby did not go unnoticed, and Vivian quietly watched him as he did so. She knew about the offer from WADA, which he had turned down for all the reasons that were valid, and that was okay. Vivian lightly squeezed his arm again, her eyes not leaving him. “I’m already taking some Spanish lessons.” He knew that. In fact, she had even greeted him with a ‘Hola’ before realizing what she had said and apologizing to him when he had picked her up. Honestly, she was just glad that tonight was an excuse for her to speak English. Yes, her lessons were that intense. “But moving in soon, when Liss is done cruising with her boyfriend.” And Vivian was both scared and excited for it. |
<3 It was as though Harper's usually bubbly self had been ramped up a notch today. There was no particular reason for her great mood, it just seemed that everything was going well that day and Harper loved days like that, when the stars seemed to align and everything was perfect. And she got to hold hands with her wonderful girlfriend (hands that were being swung ever so slightly, as though she were a love-struck teenager and not a twenty-nine year old woman) as they went to the theatre! Her beautiful girlfriend who got a grin as wide as possible, and a quick cheek kiss. "Have I told you how incredible you look tonight?" She had. Six times. |
<3 SPOILER!!: Harper Léonne was blushing. Again. After all of this time spent with her romantic and cute and amazing girlfriend, you’d think she was used to the compliments, the soft touches, the cheek kisses… but nope. She still felt like a very love-sick teenager, thank you very much. The Parisian was happy to not take Harper for granted. She loved everything about her and getting to spend time with her - especially her smile. Her smile could light up a room. ”MMMmmmmm.” She teased, her thumb brushing softly over the back of Harper’s hand. ”I think so… Maybe once. Or twice.” It was her turn to kiss Harper’s cheek this time, and she let herself linger, just slightly longer than was actually needed… she just smelt so good. ”Is that new perfume?” She asked, pulling back- that blush (or was it a new blush??) still highlighting her cheeks. |
Quote:
Not everyone could be that lucky, though, and she did thank Merlin she happened to be. Once or twice? Harper grinned cheekily, fully aware that she'd complimented Léonne more than that. She shook her head every so slightly, hair falling past her ears into her face. "No, but it is one I haven't worn for a while," she informed, using her free hand to tuck her hair back. Her family seemed to enjoy buying her perfume, and so Harper didn't really buy it for herself, but she'd decided to treat herself with the scent she'd worn during the beginning of their relationship. Or maybe she was treating Lé. Who knew? "Are you looking forward to the show?" |
for Laila-laaaaaaa UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Mallory had to take her LITTLE BROTHER out today? Seriously?! She was only doing this because her dad had given her a bag of galleons and told her she could keep the change if she entertained Duncan all day. So she'd decided to drag lil Dunk to see a show she'd felt like watching, and supposed she could buy him some popcorn and candy floss and whatever, and then he'd be placated and sit through the whole show without talking and that would count as entertaining the boy all day. Right? Right. The former Slytherin held her brother's hand FIRMLY as they approached the WADA theatre. All he had to do today was NOT embarrass her, and she was sternly reminding him of this as they stopped on the steps outside the building. "---so halfway through the matinee, there will be a break, called the intermission, and THAT'S when you get up to go to the bathroom or get a drink, okay? You do NOT get up before that. OK, Dunk?" OKAY? She needed confirmation that he HEARD her! |
Quote:
"The what?" Matinee? Oh. He frowned up at her because she was implying he was a baby who needed to go to the bathroom a lot. EXCUSE HIM, he did not. How long would this be anyway? Like fifteen minutes or something. "Okay, Merlin. I heard ya. We're inside now, I think you can let go." WIGGLE WIGGLE. Also... "I still think we should've gone to the playground..." He forgot why they didn't go, he definitely suggested it and she definitely replied. He didn't remember consenting to attend something on the stage?? |
Quote:
"Matinee, it's what you call an afternoon show." Mal SIGHED at having to explain things to her brother. Yeah, why hadn't they gone to the playground? Probably because Mal wanted to do things she would do anyway even when she wasn't being paid off to babysit. But, she was a clever girl, and so she could compromise. "Look, if you're good here, we'll go to the playground after the show lets out." If it was still light out, heh heh. She took a few steps away from Duncan now to go buy their tickets, trusting that he wouldn't run off or climb the curtains or something. |
Quote:
He wanted to ask what other names for shows there were but Mallory was making a very interesting deal with him. Duncan squinted his eyes just a little as he thought about the deal. His father taught him what 'deals' were and 'promises' and 'rewards' and 'trophies' and the related jargon of winning something in exchange for something else. "Okay." He replied finally with a nod. Although what did she mean if he was good here, when was he ever not good anywhere?? Was she referring to that time he made a scene in his father's shindig at his work? That was just a fluke, he got a little too excited... ... wait, was he all alone now?? Mal disappeared into the crowd. Duncan turned around slowly, feeling free as an eagle for the first time this day...... he saw an interesting gargoyle by one of the smaller gates. Not the one where the crowd was heading towards, but the one where all the dressed up people were going to. So, he just headed towards the entrance, JUST TO LOOK AT THE GARGOYLE. |
i gotta get off my butt and go mow the yard or something or i'll be here all day <333 Quote:
Anyway. Where WAS Dunk? She felt a moment of panic as she wondered if she'd messed up her spell and turned the whole boy invisible, and not just his candy?! But no, Mallory Fletcher NEVER messed up her charms, they were too easy, and she was too brilliant to make a mistake. She took a breath and looked around at all the people, trying to think of where SHE would go if she were.... seven or eight or whatever age he was now. They still had time before their show, so Mallory turned in a slow circle, hissing to herself, "DUNCAN MUNDUNGUS FLETCHER, if you don't come out from wherever you are hiding----!" |
no, stay forever Quote:
He wanted to take a peak in into one of the rooms (his third peak today), but he preferred to let Mallory know what he discovered! Maybe she'd want to tag along! Grinning, and flushed in the face from all the excitement, he turned on his heels and RAN upstairs to the dark corridor and finally out to where Mal was (he had to look for her a bit but he found her, it was fine). "MAL MAL MAL," he was gasping for breath from running and from the excitement, "You won't believe what I found! Come!" He wanted to grab her wrist and pull her to the gargoyled gateway. |
LAST ONE OK ok ok ok Quote:
Oh, there he was, grabbing her wrist. She let out an annoyed huff as the sandy-haired boy appeared absolutely excited and breathless. BUT, she did want to know WHERE and HOW he had disappeared so fast--- and what, pray tell, had he found in this SHORT amount of time--- "WHERE were you," the twenty-something whisper!shouted to Dunk as she allowed him to pull her along to wherever he was going. "Don't you know better than to RUN OFF yet?!" Their father WOULD be hearing about this! |
Quote:
"I didn't run off! I came back, I just wanted to look at something." He supplied to her seriously, his forehead wrinkled in seriousness too. Also, what did she meant by 'YET'? He didn't have time to dwell on this, though. The corridor was empty and he prompted her to walk briskly like she belonged to the corridor. "There are stairs down! I saw the actors! They were singing and reciting! They weren't even completely clothed yet. Their hair was all bushy and stuff but they had weird makeup on." His turn to urgently whisper to her in pure excitement, eyes looking up at her all wide and circular. In his excitement, Duncan didn't step correctly on the first step of the stairs, which was why he wobbled forward expecting his face to meet the floor VERY soon, either taking his sister with him or being pulled back by her. Depending on her reflexes. |
