Default Flourish and Blotts

About halfway down the north side of the Alley stands Flourish and Blotts, the shop noticeable by its wide picture windows displaying all sorts of gold-embossed spellbooks, any new releases warranting advertisement and the occasional sleeping cat, as the shopkeeper’s two cats occasionally decide to make the window display their chosen napping place when they aren’t underfoot. Upon entry, all that seems to be visible are bookshelves, stacked to the ceiling and absolutely filled with books of all shapes and sizes. While it may look like chaos, there is a sort of order to the shelves and various stacks of books scattered throughout the main floor in addition to those shelved. A table sits close to the door which regularly holds sets of Hogwarts’ required textbooks every summer for the ease of students who may not want to hunt them down on their own, and a staircase, even more shelves filling the space underneath, leads up to a second floor that contains shelves of the various works of fiction from the Wizarding world and beyond.

Near the center of the shop stands the counter, where the shopkeeper can usually be found and which is also the location for the occasional book-signing or other book-related event. Surrounding the counter are displays of newspapers, magazines, diaries, journals and other small items that might interest the literary-minded customer. In addition, a large, leather-bound book rests on a small stand to the left of the counter: an index of all the books sold in the shop for the use of the customers who are in a hurry or simply don’t want to search through all the shelves on their own.

Toward the back of the shop, a door leading to a storage area and the small office used for paperwork and any other business the shopkeeper needs to take care of in private, a cat-door installed as well as the cats’ food and water while they’re in shop are there. Tucked away in various corners of the shop, half hidden by shelves and very cozy, are small reading nooks containing squashy chairs and small tables for a lamp, and a larger reading area including a fireplace can be found near one of the front windows. Enjoy!

Bending down, he picked up the book and gave it a quick brush to remove any dirt that it had picked up when he Jumped dropped by accident because he wasn’t paying attention.

“Well yuh woun't have heard of me becawze I'm new. Haven't long got here from New Yawhk yuh see” So how she even expected to know him was a mystery to the Brooklyn native. Either way, he was happy to be meeting her just to have someone to talk to that wasn’t his brother or sister. Being over here was an adventure but talking to the same two or three people was boring. He needed adventure! To meet new people and see cool stuff.

“I'm Jude” he continued, actually introducing himself now. “Well, I wouldn’t get this one. It looks about as dry as a desert” holding the book out for her to see the title. Plimpie soup just wasn’t something he wanted or needed in his life.

So she didn't scare him, she wasn't sure she fully believed that but for now she was going to just go along with it. "I didn't hear any singing." Could he see the innocent look she was giving that clearly said she wasn't buying any of it. A smile danced on her lips though amused, "What were you singing?" She wasn't one to sing, but enjoyed music, maybe he could sing for everyone here at the bookstore.

"Oh New York, well that does say where the accent is from, but don't let that worry you. Many of us are from all over. I live in Germany so you will find all accents around here." Though she felt like her's had softened over the years at Hogwarts, in the summertime, it really came back.

Looking at the book she shook her head, "Yeah not something I would read. If it isn't about quidditch, mystery, or some sort of romantic twist I'm not interested." Chloe had many layers to her books and she hid the romantic side as much as possible.

She can manage that's for sure but there were a lot of new and old students looking for books at this moment, she can try a bit to help her out at least, yes? She returned her attention to the girl who was walking towards the aisle she pointed out. Her eyes wandered around the shelves just to see if they have a book that she might need for her NEWTs. Like a reference book of some sort. Maybe she can find it later when she is done helping the younger student.

A grin formed on her lips the moment the girl spoke about wanting to be in Slytherin. Of course she likes hearing that bit the most. "That's good." she replied "I'm in Slytherin and so was my father..." and his father and his father's father. "You can love books and be a Slytherin at the same time." she chuckled. Was reading books an essential trait for becoming a Ravenclaw? Who knows, Jillian doesn't dwell much into that. "You're welcome. I'm just happy to help out. It's peak season for book shopping at the moment." she nodded as her eyes roamed around the store once again before returning to look at....

Allie, the younger girl's name.

"Nice to meet you, Allie" she smiled. "I'm Jillian" introducing herself politely. She will be keeping an eye on her for the upcoming term. Hopefully she gets sorted into Slytherin. "Are you excited for your first term at Hogwarts?" her eye caught a Transfiguration book for Allie. She takes it out of the shelf and hands it to her.

It was very fulfilling to have met a 7th year Slytherin before even arriving at Hogwarts. Jillian had something in common with Allie, her father had also belonged to that amazing house. She must know so much about the castle, secret passages, all kinds of stories... after all, it's her last year. Mom and dad had a blast, they always say those were the best years of their lives. Their only responsibility was to get good marks and have a good time. No adulthood worries. They were about half-way picking up the books she'd need. "I'm happy I met you, Jillian. Are you sad you're almost done? What are you going to do after you finish school?"

Potions, Spells, HoM, Transfiguration. "Thanks." Allie was now holding four heavy books on her arms. "Is there some kind of basket to put them on? One with a good spell or charm to take away the weight they have?" She took a deep breath and continued walking looking around for the next 3 or 4 books that were left on the 1st year's supplies list. Allie didn't really know the main difference between a spell or a charm, but she liked the idea of using both to her advantage.

She didn’t hear any singing? Uhh well duh. It had been in his head the whole time. Some had just escaped when she turned up behind him that’s all. It was obvious! ” I guess yuh weren’t listenin' hard enough den. Too busy lookin' fawh books, weren’t yuh? . She had clearly fell for his lie, the smile on her lips and the question all but confirming it. “Oh yuh know, just one me and my brudders sang growin' up” . God he was so smooth. She was falling for it hook, line and sinker.

It did make him feel slightly better that there were going to be people from all over at Hogwarts. Not because he was worried, he wouldn’t meet any friends, he was way too out going to not find a clique, but because he wanted to talk to people from everywhere. “Germany, or what? Dat’s pretty interestin'. So how come yuh’re gonna Hogwarts den, or what? No wizardin' school ovuh dere” . As for the accent, that was one of the best parts…Now he could talk real fast and just watch as people just stared at him, unable to understand what he was saying. Pure comedy gold.

“I don’t even know why I picked it up. Right? I’m not really a readuh. Mawh of a learn by doin' type guy” not that he wasn’t smart or anything, he just preferred to jump into the thick of things and learn from his mistakes. And also, books were just boring. You needed to focus and sit still and just…quiet. Silence. Uch.

So he was sticking to the singing stuff. She looked around to see how much trouble she could get into if she had him sing louder in a bookstore. Would anyone really have a problem with singing? It wasn't a library so the quiet wasn't fully inforced. Though she hadn't ever put someone on the spot like that before. "I think you should show off your talents." Looking around she grinned,

"HOW HERE WOULD WANT TO HEAR THIS BOY SING?"

Her grin still there as she crossed her arms to see if he was going to stick with the singing now. Shrugging at his question about Hogwarts, "Both my parents graduated from there so my name has been on the list for a while. I could have gone to Beauxbatons, but I'm glad I didn't. I like Hogwarts."

"Oh a doer, well I find books to be a great way to escape when you need some time away from reality. They make the best adventures right from wherever you are stuck." Like at school when you weren't allowed to just go shopping or to the movies, why did summer truly have to end?

So, she really wanted to hear him sing? Sure. Why not? She might be daring him but little did she know, this was nothing for the Wampus kid from Brooklyn. This was his bread and butter, the type of stuff a kid like him lived for. Something that would get the adrenaline running and the heart pumping.

A wide smile crept across his face as he looked at her. “Show off my talents? Please…I can’t sing, hence why I was singing in my head for the most part but if you want to hear me sing then all you need to do is ask” and he would oblige in an outstanding fashion.

Judging from the loud question that she posed to absolutely no one in the shop, that he could see at least, he took a deep breath and the belted out the belted out a verse or two of a famous rap song from the muggle world, even taking his time to bleep out any profanity. He may have been a little wild but he didn’t want to get thrown out straight away. Not when he was here for the rest of the summer.

Crossing his own arms now after that beautiful, yet more than likely ear-splitting rendition of various rap songs, he just nodded at her as if he’d just performed to a stadium full of adoring fans. “Bet you couldn’t get that at Beaxbatons, could you?” his smile sarcastic because he was fully aware that it sounded like nails down a chalk board.

“I find the best adventure to be an actual adventure. Climbing mountains, scaling building, flying through downtown New York in the middle of the day. You know, those kinds of things” Those kinds of things had landed him in a lot of trouble in the past, although it had been worth it just to see his brothers faces. “You should try it sometime. You might like it”.

He.... was.... actually going to do this.

Okay, so she was going to just step back and let him sing to the entire bookstore. This was going to be good, or well entertaining. She couldn't beleive she actually got someone to do this. Chloe felt dangerous even if it really wasn't with doing something she shouldn't, but she stood back and laughed until tears came that he was actually doing it.

"That was.... amazing" He had some bravery she would never have and looking around at people's faces they were as shocked as she hoped they'd be. "Your fans did not appreciate the way I did."

Why was she the only one clapping? She kept clapping because he deserved it for even doing something like that. She would have hidden under a table if someone asked her to try that and there was no way she would be talked into it.

"I've done skiing does that count?"

Judging from her laughter and the tears streaming from her eyes, he had accomplished exactly what he’d wanted, he’d made her laugh.

Jackpot.

”I know. I know. It really was amazing. Something else, right?” taking a small bow, he just grinned as the millions of adoring fans that were obviously clapping in the shop. Sure, they were out of sight and doing it so quietly that he couldn’t hear but they were there. ”They appreciated it just fine” In truth, he knew he was about as talented at rapping or singing as a blunt knife was at cutting steak but he didn’t care. It was all fun and games.

Did Skiiing count? Maybe. It wasn’t exactly the adcenture he had in mind but it sounded pretty adventurous and did require you to step out of your comfort zone to try. ”Yeah, I suppose I could give you that. Skiing does sound pretty adventurous” although he’d never been so he couldn’t say for sure. After all, there wasn’t much chance to go skiing in the big city.

What better place to meet than the bookstore? It had been long enough for Louisa that she'd visited F&B that a wave of nostalgia hit her when she made her steps inside. It'd been only a couple of years, but the person she was meeting today would bring the nostalgia all the way back to twenty years. Wow, so many had changed. She tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear as her eyes scanned the crowd quickly. No Vashti yet. She didn't know whether her old friend would bring one of the children with her or not.

Louisa had to convince Legend to 'babysit' their daughter, who wasn't really a baby anymore but rather a whole grown human being with ideas and words and questions. It was harder the older she grew. At least she wasn't crying all the time, though. She had her father's blonde fair look but definitely her mother's attitude which Louisa hated because that meant an exhausting teenager.

The 40-year-old reached one of the books stand, law books, and paused there.

The best part about visiting London was seeing family again. And that did include Louisa. After all they'd been through and all the years they'd been friends, she was as good as any blood-related sister in Vashti's opinion. Always had been, always would be.

She was eager to meet her at Flourish and Blotts and also a little bit happy about getting away from the kids for a short while, so she arrived promptly, scanning the store to find Louisa. She was also resisting the urge to immediately look at every book she passed.

Friend first, then look around the store.

Ah, there she was!

"Law books, hm?" Vashti said, coming up beside her.

Scottie Ferguson had started his new job. Working for the private investigation agency that had hired him had been a nice decision becaaaaaause it meant he had a year or two to beef up his resume before applying officially for the ministry. He wanted it to look impressive and whatnot, all right? The former Gryffindor, though, found that he wasn't as well-read on certain goings-on as he had previously thought...and so, here he was. Flourish and Blotts.

The list of titles in his hand unfolded, he carefully reread them before reaching for the door-handle to go inside.

Unfortunately, but characteristically, Scottie suddenly lost his list. A gust if icy wind blew by, snatched the list from his loosely-gripped hand, and GONE. BYE LISTY LIST.

Scottie said a choice word under his breath before taking after it, across the ways a bit from the bookshop. There went his quiet errand.

Arabella had once again found herself wandering into Flourish and Blotts. It was her favourite shop here in Diagon Alley because she could always find something new to read or something old to re-read. There were several books that she was drawn to over and over again. Some of them because they were just very well-written and intriguing while other books she was drawn to reminded her of precious memories from her childhood or schooling years. Her favourite part of Flourish and Blotts had to be the smell of the shop. There was something wonderful about the smell and feel of books especially old books. The smell - old books smelled like a combination of vanilla, ink, rain, and wood.

Walking into the shop, she headed down one of the aisles, running her fingertips against the spines of the books. It reminded her of the library at her parents house. That's perhaps why she loved this store so much. Stopping in her tracks, she read the titles in front of her until she found one of her favourites. "Aha," she exclaimed as she went on her tip-toes to try to reach it. It was just shy of her reach. Using her wand, she flicked it towards the book, casting a nonverbal Accio to bring it to her hands. Opening the book, she flipped a few pages, being careful not to cease it before taking a seat with it in her lap.

Right. Now what passage was she looking for? If only she could remember the particular page number......

Valerie was done shooting for the day and she could hardly wait to be back in her and Jerry's tiny apartment so she could shun the world. The scene she had been filming today had been one she had been dreading more than any of the others and the director had been ruthless with her and his expectations for the scene. It was hard to act something you had never felt yourself and thus the writers had been sent back to the drawing board because her limited abilities were not suitable. And yet the man would not simply fire her because he was obsessed with her aesthetic.

She truly could wring Jerry's neck for getting her involved in this.

Having no errand in this part of the Alley, other than to blow off steam so another potted plant or lamp did not fall victim to a lack of self composure and a poignant Bombarda, the snowy-haired former Wampus had no sooner turned one of the corners of the zigzagged streets when a stray piece of paper flew right into her face and brought her long strides to a stop.

A bit of an environmentalist herself, it truly rubbed her the wrong sort of way when people did not put their trash where it belonged and she ripped the paper from her face and crumbled it up on her palm.

Gosh darn it - why was he blessed with clumsiness? He nearly tripped over himself, and then - the paper was SAVED? By a white-haired creature before the WOMAN TORE UP HIS LIST?

Scottie was appalled! "Oi! That was my list of books you've gone and ripped up!" he came a skidddddded halt in front of her, his eyebrows furrowed, his wand out. "If you give me the scraps, I can just put it together - thanks - " what had he done to deserve his LIST BEING RIPPED? Merlin! Why were the women here so bloody weird?! AUSTRALIAN WOMEN WERE ABSOLUTELY NORMAL, YA HEAR? ahem not that Scottie would at all know anything about that

He could have rattled his fist at the world today. And he had to tutor Logan later today, which only meant his day was already going downhill and would remain at that speed until he hit the bottom, he was sure.

And there were those that called her dramatic and her reactions over the top. This man almost had the essence of a manga character who had just leaped off the pages of their book to burden the world with their presence. One of those irritating shonen characters who felt the world revolved around them ... and their list of books.

"There are no scraps to offer," she replied coolly as the hairs rose on the back of her neck slightly. "Only wrinkles." Her fingers relaxed and uncoiled from around the now balled up piece of paper and she held it out to him, ready to be plucked off her palm. Her accent, a mixture of American and Canadian French, had softened over the years of her stay here in the United Kingdom...though her status as a foreigner among those of this land would always be evident.

His own accent was not lost to her ears, but it was neither here nor there when it came to his plight.

"Perhaps you should withhold your accusations in the future. Or I could tear it up for you now and hand you the scraps to fulfill your prophecy."

O______O

As soon as she spoke, Scottie's eyes didn't leave the features of her face. It was like her voice was a lull to him. He couldn't explain it, but he just nodded at her, more quiet now. "Ah. Well. Thank you - " he plucked it from her palm and tried his best to smooooth it out. The titles included many books on werewolves, especially since his father was so bent on being tight lipped about that lately. I've told you all that stuff when you were younger... okay, and? Scottie wanted to delve DEEP into that stuff now as an adult.

She had a fancy way of speaking, and it was something Scottie found alluring. "P-prophecy?" There went the stutter he got when he was nervous. "Bad things always happen to me, so...I just expected you to have done that. You don't exactly give off friendly vibes, you know," he said as he ran a hand through his hair.

SO maybe he had been too quick to judge. He wasn't going to admit that aloud to a complete stranger, though.

Yes. A proper siren she was. Or any other fantastical creature as it turned out. The comparisons never ceased though she wished that they would. The change in his demeanor was noted though she made no comment, she had no reason to, and simply waited for him to take his paper back. Of course her pale grey-violet eyes glanced over its wrinkled surface as he attempted to smooth it, though between his handwriting, the texture of the paper itself, and the fact that it was all being held upside from from her perspective made was difficult to make out what was written there. She may have caught the word 'werewolf' scrolled across it, but was neither here not there about the topic. There were plenty of reasons one would research them.

"Yes. You seemed so certain that I had torn up your paper I thought perhaps you were wishing the scene into existence." This was said dryly, of course, while her eyes moved slowly up and down him. A peculiar individual, she decided. "Bitten by a bite from a Malaclaw, were you? Perhaps you ought to turn thrice on the spot and deliberately Splinch your thumbs," she offered with a slightly exaggerated roll of the eyes, which revealed her opinion on such superstitions or the notion of bad luck. "That is because I am not." A friendly person. She could count the number of friends she had on one hand and still have two fingers left over. "But simply because one is not of a friendly disposition does not mean they wish to create bitter confetti."

In fact, tearing up the paper would have simply created more potential for litter.

"It was on its way to the trash can. Nothing more."

Wishing it into existence? That made Scottie snort. He shook his head quickly. "No! I don't wish ill on myself, I promise. I WANT things to work in my favor mostly," was all he offered in response. His watch pinged, and he glanced down at the Christmas gift from his brother. Just a heart rate check. Cool. But while he was at it...he gave it a tap of his wand, procuring the foe glass option. Luckily, the space behind him in the tiny square reflection showed absolutely NO shadows behind him.

Was he paranoid? Maybe just a bit.

His eyebrows were acting like they had a mind of their own, though, as she kept speaking. "Last time I checked I wasn't bitten by one, but I guess it'd explain my luck lately." To be frank, though, Scottie was being a bit dramatic. His luck since Christmas had been on the rise, especially with the start of his new job and all. It was what was producing all the newfound paranoia, though. "You have lovely word choice, you know. Bitter confetti? Are you a writer?" he squinted at her. Did she have...eyebrows? He found his eyes wandering over her face. Even if she wasn't friendly, she wasn't completely malicious. He felt mesmerized by her words!

"Well. Good for the environment, then. I suppose." He nodded and folded up the paper, breathing a sigh of relief that she hadn't seen it. When she had mentioned the BITE of the malaclaw before, he had tensed juuuuuust a little because he thought she had SEEN and was making a comment about it.

She was certainly picking up on the undertones of paranoia with him, though she naturally had no way of placing their origin. He came across to her as prey in a constant state of fight or flight, his instincts serving the role of flight almost every time. Even his assumption and resignation to 'the worst' seemed to paint such an image. The ping of his watch, the immediate glance downwards, the tap of his want to its face and relief at it once he had taken the time to admire his own reflection there...it was all observed. All curious.

Though she made no further comment. Were something wrong she had little to offer. She also lacked any inclination to offer any sort of assistance so it was best to remain silent.

"No. Simply well-read." Something that David had been quite to note during one of their impromptu hanging out sessions. "For the majority of my life the written word was my only constant companion." Though even now she was hard pressed to find anyone or anything else that was, save for herself. "...why are you gazing upon me in such a manner?" It was invasive and making her feel uncomfortable, though she would not admit to the latter aloud. More likely to hex his eyebrows off or worse for the staring.

"It is the only one we have got so it would be best not to abuse it," she replied with a slight shrug of the shoulders.

Paranoid? HIM? SCOTTIE FERGUSON? PFFFT. undertones more like OVERTONES YEAH???

Well read. Scottie nodded. "I am too. I...I typically prefer to stay inside and...read...and do my own thing than socialize." Explained his awkwardness, didn't it? His eyes darted around again because of the LAST TIME someone had crashed his happendstanced conversation in Diagon, he had nearly died.

Maybe that was dramatic.

BUT there had been a wasp and a spider involved, and he woudn't put anything past his twin. "I mean - I don't mean to say I'm MORE well-read - I more meant - I - " he stuttered and smiled sheepishly as he ran a hand through his hair. "I was feeling akin, so...you know. I guess we tend to blurt things out when we're like ... feeling that way. I mean that's why I'm on my way to buy a bunch of books and all." He nodded backward, behind him, at Flourish and Blotts.

YIKES DID SHE NOTICE? Scottie blushed a deeeeeeep red, like an old tomato. "I...like the way you speak," he answered honestly. "Sorry. I also wondered if you had eyebrows." Again with the honest blurting. Maybe it was less to do with being honest and more to do with being nervous. "I feel like not having eyebrows would be nice because then people wouldn't be able to read my expressions so easily."

Environment = good. He agreed with her sentiments, but he was reeling too much from her noticing his staring. So.

For the briefest of moments she was reminded of the company she once kept at Illvermorny and how remarkably alike they were to her new acquaintance. She was still not sure what to make of him, particularly now that conversation had carried on for a fair bit and there was still a serious lack of self introductions. Though she was also grateful for it as well. She preferred her anonymity, something that was in jeopardy now that her attachments to Jerry had put her in in the spotlight of an upcoming indie film.

His reasons for being well read were akin to her own, something that had been spoken between the pauses and breaths of her own words. Perhaps if he ceased being so jittery he could piece that together for himself.

"Yes... hence your list," she said as she nodded towards the piece of paper. "Is that a list for business or pleasure?" She was not particularly sure why the curiosity had slipped out but it was too late to retract it now.

"Curious. Most find the manner in which I speak to be provoking." Which explained, partly, as to why the number of those with mutual toleration was so small...and the number of those she deemed friends even smaller. Though it was his saving grace that his cause for staring had nothing to do with her appear-----oh, never mind. Her eyes narrowed on reflex and her eyebrows arched unfavorably. "Do you find my current expression now difficult to read?" she inquired rather rhetorically.

He didn't quite know how to answer her question without being fully transparent, so he cleared his throat to give him a second to think about something smart to say. He felt like he needed to sound smart. So far in this conversation, he probably came off stuttering and messy and DUMB. "Well...both, a bit, I guess. There's some things on here I would like to be more informed about for my new job. And others...for my own personal reasons."

Provoking? It made his eyes squinted in a confused way. "I guess...less cognitively active people would find it provoking, but I don't. It just makes me think about stepping up my own speaking game!" and he actually smiled easily at her. He also couldn't read that his eyebrow comment had offended her, and so he merely nodded. "Yeah! I find your whole presence difficult to read, actually, not just your facial expressions," he admitted before glanced over his shoulder at the book shop. "Was there anything in there you needed, too?"

Wait.

"And I do apologize for being judgmental. I'm sorry." About the.......assuming she would destroy his list and all. "And I'm Scottie - SCOTT. Just Scott." He needed to STOP introducing himself as Scottie. He wasn't a teenager anymore. He was SCOTT.

'Dumb' would not have been in her immediate list of vocabulary where she asked to describe her new acquaintance, though a lack of eloquence with social interactions was rather prominent. Not that she herself was particularly skilled, often times leaving much to be desired and typically with more than a few holes blasted in walls. "I see," she nodded sagely. Seeing as she was not one to pry as it therefore invited the other party to do the same, Valerie opted to leave this particular conversation here. Though part of her considered it a confirmation of her suspicions.

That had not been what she had meant, though she would accept the unintentional compliment towards her intellect and felt no need to correct him on her intention. It was noted that he had likewise confessed to make the effort to step up to her level...which was nice. "Then it is not a matter of eyebrows that make one difficult to read."

She was teetering close to considering him daft and not just lacking in social grace.

"Well, just Scott," she nodded with a slight inclination of the had while tucking a bit of her thin white hair behind her ear. "I am known as Valerie. And no, I did not have any particular business within Flourish and Blotts this day other than perhaps a casual perusing."

Daniel slid into Flourish and Blotts and reached into his robes for the list he had scribbled previously. Though he was staring at the words he wasn't really reading, his mind still on the letter he had just sent off by owl to his Father, he still hadn't seen him since the last school term ended and Daniel was worried he may have copied the address down wrong. Whilst worrying about this he had been walking on auto pilot in towards the middle of the shop and was snapped back into the here and now as he almost went face first into a Daily Prophet display. "right" he murmured under his breath as he actually concentrated on the list, "Charms texbook..." he headed off in the direction of the school books taking extra care not to walk into any solid objects.

"right" he murmured under his breath as he actually concentrated on the list, "Charms texbook..." he headed off in the direction of the school books taking extra care not to walk into any solid objects.
It was quite abnormal for deliveries to have been made this late in the year, when it came to new shipments of Hogwarts textbooks, but between her concern over her youngest daughters having been trapped at the school for months and knowing she was about to acquire a second grandchild, Elizabeth found she didn’t mind. As long as she was able to get them set up intime for the summer rush, and she had her wand out balancing the stack of books floating along behind her as she made her way to the front to set them up.

In time, it seemed, to prevent what likely would have been only the first minor catastrophe that seemed to happen in the shop every summer. “Careful,” she murmured in the direction of the boy, who seemed thankfully headed in the same general direction she was headed. Only to switch her wand hand to make sure the stacks of schoolbooks were secure once she’d finished resupplying them.

Valencia wandered the charms section, running a finger along the spine of some books. She wasn't sure what she was looking for, just something... interesting. She'd been interested on the history and theory behind old spells lately. Maybe she could find something along those lines for a good summer light reading book.

She glance around wondering if maybe the shopkeeper was nearby. The shopkeeper was bound to have some recommendations, right?
