Who wants to walk around eating ice cream when you can sit inside a nice, comfortable, temperature-controlled building to do it? The tables scattered throughout the interior, with their matching soft blue leather chairs, can be moved together or apart depending upon the size of your party. The blue leather booths that line the wall, while traditionally sized for seating four, are capable of magically extending themselves a bit more to accommodate up to eight should you have a large group. Have a seat, enjoy your ice cream and friends, and while the surfaces in the shop are charmed to resist staining, please do make sure to clean up any messes you might make before they set in! A napkin dispenser can be found at every table, along with a small wooden stand bearing spare plastic spoons and a bunch of small, prepackaged wet-wipes to help clean up those sticky hands.
Katerina was very excited about today. Girls day with Paige. It was much needed already this summer four days at St Mungos was not how she has pictured her summer. Of course the first thing you had to do on a girls day was to eat... and on a hot day like this ice cream was the perfect food to eat.
Diagon Alley did have the best place to get ice cream too. The third year was meeting her friend here first to start out their girls day. Finding a seat in the courtyard of the ice cream shop was a task. Wait was this new or has Kat simply overlooked it for years. So staying inside she found a booth for them.
Now all she had to do was to wait for Paige to arrive and figure out what favorite of ice cream to get, Anything but strawberry.. Gross!

There was something wonderfully surreal about today. For so long she, Paige Samantha Skeeter, had been the younger girl tagging along with an older one on shopping trips and adventures. And today the role had been reversed and she suddenly wasn't so sure HOW to feel about being a seventh year. Although Dot had left her with plenty of good advice and things to strive towards.
Spotting Kat, Paige hurried over to her with a wave. "Hey," she greeted with a smile. "I hope you weren't waiting long. The floo at daddy's house has been malfunctioning a bit and it took a couple tries to get it working properly." Which not only explained why she was late by a few minutes but also the lingering bits of cinder and ash in her hair she had picked up while tumbling out of the fireplaces at the Leaky Cauldron.

No trip to Diagon Alley would be complete without a trip to the ice cream parlor. It was a special place for to Hads. The place where she went her first trip to Diagon Alley and the place she made her first friend in jolly ol' England: Rachel Watson. She smiled sweetly to herself as she opened the door and stepped inside. It might not look like it, but it was truly magical and......it was different.
.......
.......
A strangled noise escaped Hadley as she stood directly in the path of the door and stared, mouth open, at the renovated spaced. It was all different. DIFFERENT. Her beloved magical ice cream parlor had been butchered. That same strangled noise escaped her again.

He had about fifteen minutes before he had to meet his mother at their spot. Which meant Benton had time for ice cream. He felt the money he still had in his pocket to make sure he had enough and then he headed towards the door. He walked in all happy, but stopped as he heard something.
He turned....
Turned again...
and then he saw her. He watched as she looked like she was going to possibly fall over or cry. Girls crying was a big NO for Benton. He didn't like it one bit. "Are you alright?" He recognized the Ravenclaw from classes. He knew his uncle had words with her at one point to, detention even. He couldn't impagine a detention with Julien Primeaux. Sometimes it was good to be the nephew.
Florean's - quite possibly Spike's favourite place in the whole of Diagon Alley. Closely followed by Sugarplum's, of course. It'd been far too long since he'd last visited, and he breathed in the sweet scent of ice cream on the air. The moment was short lived though, as the kids skipped past him excitedly towards the counter. He gave his wife a look, before winking and hurrying after them both.
"Hang on, who said you could get ice cream before Daddy?" he asked with a grin, scooping up Dom, the younger of the two, and resting him on his hip so that he could see the options.
"I did," replied Sephi, looking up at her dad with a grin before pressing her face back against the freezer to see what options were available. "What's that pretty pink one? And that lellow one? And can I have lots sprinkles?"
Dominic Hutchinson did NOT skip! He moved quickly and with grace, yes, but no skipping Where other kids could see him anyway! Hehe. The little boy was ALMOST to where he wanted to be... which was right beside his sister...
But then it happened. His dad scooped him up! Giggles left the small boy, and he DID enjoy the view from WAY up there, but MAN. MAAAAAN! There were so many people and so much to see and TOUCH. He wanted to touch the glass. And his sister's hair. He liked to pull it when she was being like this. All... taller than him and talking better! Pfft.
And wiggling commenced. All of the wiggling. "Daaaaaaaad! Down!!" he exclaimed as he LEANED over and REACHED for Sephi's red curls. SO MANY curls. If he tugged JUST one she wouldn't mind, would she? It was out of love, yes.
Addy watched the other three members of her small family rush inside and stood just inside the door for a moment. Man. She was one lucky lady! The best looking group in the place, if you asked her. With a wink back to Spike she slowly made her way up beside Sephira and smiled down at her. "Loads of sprinkles! And maybe a cherry also?"
Fidgeting was happening. Spike gave an inward sigh. Since when had his little mini!me gotten too old and too cool to be picked up? He'd have given ANYTHING for his Dad to be picking him up as a kid. Apparently, though, he'd been too big for that.
"Okay wigglepot, I'm putting you down," he said as he lowered the curly-haired boy back to the floor. "Better?"
Now, what ice-cream to have himself?
"Dom-nick!" Sephi protested, turning away from the freezer to look at Mummy, and seeing her brother's his fingers after her curls. She knew her red curls were oh-so-pwetty, but she didn't see why he needed to pull on them so much. Daddy had curls too, and her brother didn't try to pull those anywhere near as often! Hmph.
Still pulling a face at her brother, Sephira turned her gaze back up towards Mummy. "Spwinkles, two chewwies, and a fwake," she replied with certainty.

She nodded absently, eyes still transfixed on the unrecognizable interior. "They changed it..." she said, half whispering, half mumbling. How could they do that to her? This was a sacred spot. We she meet Rachel and made a friend and they changed it! "Why would they do that? It's all wrong."
She closed her eyes and shook her head, as if trying to clear it.
It didn't exactly work. Hads was still in shock. She closed her eyes and shook her head again, trying to clear it.
Hadley's eyes turned to Benton finally. At first she just blinked as if not really seeing him, then shook her head a last time. "Sorry, I'm fine. Just being stupid and sentimental and such." Recognition slowly came to her. "You're from Hogwarts right?" She'd seen him around naturally, but couldn't quite remember his name. But wasn't he...? "You're Primeaux's...nephew? Right? What is that like?" She liked Primeaux, but the man could learn to lighten up just a bit.

Did she need a healer? Benton was starting to become concerned when she finally decided talking was good. He looked back in not even realizing it was changed. Was he that unobservant? "Change isn't a bad thing though, right? " Change could be good, at least that's what people like to tell him. He wasn't fully sure that was truth as of yet. He didn't have much change so far. "Maybe the owner can tell you if they are here." So could they possibly go in? Have ice cream?
"Yeah I am, Hufflepuff in your year." He nodded and smiled, they were getting somewhere now. This was progress. Now maybe ice cream could be sooner. "Benton" That's if she didn't know the name.
There is was, the name he always got pointed out to him...
"Yeah I am... He's not bad. He is strict, is at home too, but he cares. Plus he does have a fun side. Last summer we went to Egypt and he took me on the highest water slide. It was so cool. Plus he took me in pyramids the rest of our families wouldn't go in." He didn't mind his uncle like so many others and even Torrance did.

Hadely sighed and shifted her weight. "I guess. No, I know." Change was inevitable. And usually it didn't bother her much. But..."Sorry," she said again. Hads knew how she must seem. But...how to explain this reasonably without embarrassing herself more. "The old place was just kinda special to me. It's a long story." She shook her head again. "I'm being silly."
Hadley shrugged it off, and grinned. "Hadley. Or Hads if you prefer." She made her way in deeper to the store, out of the way of the door so that others might be able to get through as well. Besides, the renovation didn't change the reason she came here. Ice cream. "I'm in Ravenclaw," she added as an afterthought. "What's it like having Professor Myers as your head of house?" She imagined it was fun, funny and anything but boring.
Hads raised an eyebrow at that. Strict but caring was the most accurate way to describe Primeaux. She knew that first hand. But...having a fun side? Going down water slides? The pyramid she believe, and imagined him turning it into an educational experience as well. But the water slide? Nope. She couldn't picture it. "I think I'd pay to see that actually."
Which not only explained why she was late by a few minutes but also the lingering bits of cinder and ash in her hair she had picked up while tumbling out of the fireplaces at the Leaky Cauldron.
The thing about Katerina was that she mostly had guy friends, which yes that was cool not having the girl drama as much because yes guys did have there own drama. So getting on well with other girls was a relief there was just somethings Kat didn't want to share with the guys. Kat pretty much adored Paige, and being older to was nice have her around of she ever needed her. Plus Kat loved her ways with words and her advice
In fact her advice for her Brady problem was working perfectly, the terrible they had during term seemed to be over. For now anyway. The third year beamed when she seen Paige. She waved off the lateness excuse. Kat noted the extra bits of ash. "Don't worry, I just got here a few minutes ago." Just enough time to start deciding on what ice cream she was going to order. She smiled again. 'How is the internship going? How about summer?"

Addy watched Spike and Dom for a moment, an amused look on her face. Heh. Dom just wanted to be down there like Sephi. Addy knew that, because she was the younger kid... Kenyon ALWAYS got to do the COOL stuff and she had to hang out with her parents... and she just wanted to be cool like her brother. That was common with all kids, right? She would never pretend to know much about what constituted normal, after all. Heh.
As Dom rushed to the display she moved her attention then to Sephi and smiled. "Whatever the princess wants, the princess gets. But what about Daddy? What do you think HE should have?" she asked before shooting a wink at the husband. Unf. Her husband.
Dom poked his tongue out at Sephi as she pulled a face. He only wanted to tug those curls just a little. Dom had curls, too, yeah, but hers were RED like Mummy's. Dom was jealous of the redness. HMPH!
As he moved up between Sephi and Daddy he stood on TIPPY TOES and peered into the case. "Daddy... chocwate?" he asked as he looked up at Daddy and smiled real big. Like so big it caused his eyes to close a bit. THAT was a serious smile. And he wanted chocwate... "Fwinkles... aaaaaand si-wup?" Did he understand? Could he have it all, please? PLEASE!!!!

I liked to run around the couch and coffee table because there was lots of room and one day I came running in and ran into a reclining chair that was added. I hated it." So he got it, though he still hadn't noticed much difference in the ice cream place, but truthfully unless it was the ice cream he was looking at he really didn't pay attention.
"I do like stories though if you wanted to get ice cream and tell me." He was always up for stories, stories he enjoyed. "Hads is cool. Most people call me Benny." 'He's kind of crazy actually, but fun. He had skittles in our common room, but that wasn't as cool as the bubbles I filled the common room with. Rain and I did it. It was fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it." Using his uncles lesson for their own purpose was great. "You could always come over during a family event if you wanted then you would see." Relieved, Paige smiled at the younger Hufflepuff before her attention was drawn to some of that lingering ash clinging to her hair. "Oh good. You pick out what ice cream you'd like yet?" she asked while trying to removed the grey distraction from her hair only to crush it into a fine powder between her fingers. Paige tended to stick to the same scoop each time she came, both in that she found comfort in the familiar and there was no risk involved paying for something she would end up not liking. Had to be especially careful about such things these days.
"It's..." She hesitated before continuing, the events of a serious splinching vividly rushing back to her thoughts and clouding her emotions for a moment. "...intense. Now that I'm of age they are letting me help a bit more hands on with some patients. Definitely...a learning experience." As for the other parts of her summer, well, those were the parts she tried not to think about too much. As overwhelming as the internship could be at times, it was an escape from the tidal wave of thoughts and feelings that seemed to always threaten to sweep her away somewhere. It helped having a focus, something to hone in on and put her energy into. "How is your summer going?" she asked in return, unintentionally avoiding answering Kat's question.

"I de pwetteh pwincess!" she beamed up at Mummy, pulling her curls over her shoulder and well out of her brother's reach. He was growing MUCH too quickly. She was the bigger one! HMPH. Maybe she'd get Mummy to braid it when they went to sit down. That'd serve Dom right!
But for now, more decisions needed to be made. Daddy needed ice cream too, and Mummy asked HER to choose! This was a very important task indeed. She pressed her face up against the case again as she chewed on her lip thoughtfully. What did Daddy like that she also wanted to try?
"What's dat one?" she asked, pointing to a green one. Daddy liked green cos he worked in a greenhouse wiff all his plants!
"You can choose me a scoop each," Spike confirmed, not the least bit concerned about his kids choosing for him. He'd never come across an ice-cream in the cabinet he didn't like, save for a couple of unfortunate Bertie Bott's encounters. Instead he just grinned at his wife. Was this a ploy to get him to hurry up with choosing? Or did she think Sephi would choose him something a little less weird?
...if the latter, it had clearly already failed. "Jalapeno," he replied with a glance as his wife, clearly amused.
He'd let Addy explain though, since Dom was giving him the biggest, most excited smile ever which just couldn't be ignored. "Chocolate with sprinkles and syrup? Awesome choice!" Spike said with a grin, bending down to his youngest. "With the chocolate frogs?" He pointed to the tub through the glass. "Or the plain one?" Nope, he wasn't even giving the sugar-free one as an option. They were having the PROPER ice cream experience.
"No you aren't being silly. It's okay to be upset that things change. I was upset once when my mom had changed our living room around. I liked to run around the couch and coffee table because there was lots of room and one day I came running in and ran into a reclining chair that was added. I hated it." A small wave of relief washed through Hadley. Oh good, Benton understood and didn't think she was being silly. She relaxed a bit, and listened thoughtfully to his story. "Sounds like it hurt. Running into the furniture like that." She'd done that more than she was willing to admit, so yeah, total sympathy her.
"Yeah, okay." Hadley started toward the ice cream bar. She glanced back at Benny, debating on whether to tell him or not and sighed. "I was kinda the odd girl out growing up. Because of the freakish things that happened around me," she added quickly. "I did a lot of uncontrolled magic growing up, but of course being muggleborn, we didn't know that was what it was. Anyway, we moved to Britain, and I met Rachel, my first real friend in the old place." There it was. Not a very interesting story, and kind of embarrassing, but that was why the place was so sentimental to her. It was the first time she felt truly accepted by someone her own age.
"Benny. Cool." Hadley held up her hand to give him a high five: her traditional version of a handshake. Hads grinned. "I'm not at all surprised Primeaux was a Ravenclaw." He was all about the rules, and structure and learning. Most of all he was about learning. She wondered briefly if he would be their new Head of House, since the man was pretty much Ravenclaw incarnate. "I probably would have fit in better in Gryffindor, to be honest, but I'm starting to see how I fit into Ravenclaw." She was, slowly. Though she was sure she'd always feel like more of a Gryffindor than a Ravenclaw, she was warming up to Ravenclaw and her place in it.
"That sounds amazing, actually. I'd love to have Myers as a Head of House." Skittles and filling the common room with bubbles, and things like that sounded perfect to her. "I..." she paused, thinking about the invite for a minute. "I'd love that actually." Seeing Primeaux outside of the school environment was something she simply couldn't pass up. If the offer was sincere that was. If not, she understood. Family events were usually for family so...
"Kitridge?" She thought about that a moment too. "He was good. A lot like your uncle actually. Rules were important and he really truly cared about us. We butted heads a lot though, because, well, rules aren't really my thing. And he wrote about me in the yearbook my first term. I apparently was the biggest challenge of the term for him." She shrugged. "He was a good Head of House though. It's gonna be weird without him next term." But she got it. If she had kids too, she'd want to spend her time with them, and not be away at school all the time.

Weirdly enough it didn't, but it was a surprise that it was there."[/b] He remembered how his mother tried to lecture him about getting hurt and listening to her, but he hadn't gotten hurt at all so it didn't make sense. Now if she lectured him in annoying him by putting the furniture there that would make sense.
Oh wow
wow
that was...wow, no wonder she was so upset. "I'm sorry people acted like you were odd when you showed magic. Now you have more magical friends and know you aren't odd." See bright side always, that was Benton. Yeah it was obvious his uncle was a Ravenclaw. Like super obvious. "I didn't realize he was leaving. Who do you think is going to be the next Head of House for you?" He didn't know what houses the other professors were in. Did they put a head of house with the house they use to be? So there was his uncle, but was there anyone else?

Carl was excited to be hanging out with Mel today. He was a bit nervous as well, which he guessed was because he had not seen her for a while now. They had so much to talk about - he wanted to hear all about how her holiday was so far. He hoped things were really okay between them, after how she had hurried away from him that day in the Treehouse.
After spending some time wandering around Diagon Alley, the Hufflepuff stepped into the Ice Cream Parlor well before their meeting time. He found a seat in a cool Booth and waited. Why was he feeling self-conscious all of a sudden? He combed his hair back with his hand as he looked around.
Oh there was the Ice Cream Flavor Menu. Something he could focus on. Chocolate Frog and Caramel Apple sounded delicious!
Oh wow

So there was his uncle, but was there anyone else?
"So what type of ice cream do you like?"
"Well that's good." Running into furniture could hurt a lot, so it was fortunate.
Hadley shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah, it sucked. And yeah. Hogwarts has been amazing. A lot easier to make friends there when you're not the weird girl that makes things happen. It's nice being in a school where everyone else does magic too." And the fact that it was a school out of a fantasy book or fairy tale that taught you how to do that magic, was just a mile high pile of icing on top of the cake. I mean how could you not love school and assignments when they were literally magic?
"Yeah, he came and told us he was leaving to be with his family after the End of Term feast. Way to end the term on a sad note, right?" They might have butted heads, but she did really like Kitridge. He was a good man and cared and helped her out after the whole summer house arrest thing last summer. "Oh, I don't know. I hope...HOPE it'll be Hirsch. That would be perfect." That was her ideal. She and Hirsch got on well, and he understood her, so to her it'd be perfect. "But, honestly, I'd say your uncle is an ideal fit for Ravenclaw Head of House. He values rules and learning and all that. He fits."
"For muggle flavors I love mint chocolate chip, and for wizarding flavors, treacle fudge or cookies and cauldrons are great. What about you?" she asked. "What type do you like?"

It had been far too long since she had seen Carl. Since well she had awkwardly run off that day in the treehouse. The brunette glanced around when she entered the shop only to smile when she saw him looking at the menu. Taking a few careful steps closer to him the gryffindor couldn’t help herself and nearly tackled Carl with a hug. “Carl! Hi! I’ve missed you” she admitted with a grin on her face.
“How have you been? Did you go on your trip yet?” She asked happily, maybe they could forget about the whole awkwardness that was their last interaction? Maybe? She sport of hoped that they could but the truth was sort of out there wasn’t it? “How are you – I’ve already asked that didn’t I?” She laughed and grinned over to him.

Now he had to decide how many scoops he was going to have. Or if he was going to have scoops at all. There were ice cream cookie sandwiches, cake and pie! Such a wide variety!
His full attention on the menu, Carl was taken by surprise as Mel hugged him. "Aaah! I mean, Mel! Hi! I've missed you too. You look nice." He grinned and hugged her back.
"I've been good, just hanging out with my family and Muggle friends. Nope, I am leaving for Spain next week!" The thirteen-year-old said. It seemed that everything was okay between them and he was glad of it, because the last thing he wanted was for her to not like him. "Yeah, you have. How have you been?" He laughed.
Melbourne couldn’t help but laugh as she heard Carl’s near scream. “Did I scare you? Oh my gosh I didn’t mean to scare you!” She laughed and ruffled his hair while hugging him. His words about her looking good made her freeze and blush for a moment. Gosh…she looked good? Really? That was great to hear.
“I…thank you Carl,” she grinned up at him. “Spain that sounds like so much fun” she beamed at him, “what have you been doing with your muggle friends?” Could she meet them sometime? Nope she was not going to ask that…”Oh me? I’ve well…been good?” She grinned at him.
“Just enjoying summer…I’ve brought a bunch of friends to my brother’s kennel – I’ve been trying to convince them to buy the puppies” she added with a grin “oh and basically I’ve been cuddling puppies…oh and I found out that my sister’s boyfriend IS a werewolf.” She nodded. “Well I didn’t find out – he told me. He’s coming out too and registering!” She grinned at him and bounced on the balls of her feet. The short Gryffindor was just so happy…happy, she was just glad to see him.
“I’m sorry” she blurted out as she looked down at the ground and bit her lip. “I didn’t mean to do that thing and run off or say anything awkward? I didn’t mean to tell you not to change? If you want to change you can change…and I’m sorry I didn’t say good bye to you at the end of term I meant to give you a hug before the train aand then it just I got distracted because of the wedding? My sister’s wedding” she was babbling again. This time in public.

Relieved, Paige smiled at the younger Hufflepuff before her attention was drawn to some of that lingering ash clinging to her hair.
What was it about having a older student to look up to or just hang out with? Kat loved it. It was like having a big sister or something. She could not wait for term to start, She promised her her crisp recipe, they were so good. Oh yeah Ice cream flavor. Oh yeah. She was deciding while she waiting for Paige to arrive. "Chocolate frog. You can't go wrong with chocolate. What about you?" Chocolate was Katerina's go to. Anything but strawberry, For some reason Kat could never find a liking to strawberry, or even blueberry for that matter. It was all about sugar and chocolate for this third year.
She had spent a few days in the hospital a few weeks ago, after falling off of her horse, Lola. She beamed listening to Paige about her internship. Kat could just listen to Paige all day and never get bored. "Wowthat sounds like a lot of fun and hard work." Especially now more a fun things at the internship. Hard work that was part of being a hufflepuff right? Wow Maybe she could get one next year, if she was old enough. Or get a internship somewhere in would be fun either way, a great learning experience. "Kind of boring, really. Hospital stay because of a horse accident." She sighed. Yes that really put a damper on her summer plans, No music camp. More watchful parental eyes on her.

She was still debating between her two usual flavors, and would have been amused to know that Kat had an aversion to blueberries as well, but the younger girl's mention of chocolate helped her seal the deal. "I think..I'll go for a scoop of cherry chocolate chip," she nodded, tapping her chin with her index finger to see if the words tasted as good as the memory of the flavor did on her tongue.
"It is...but the more I do it the more it just feels right," she nodded. She had been incredibly divided on where to shift her focus, writing or healing. University offered great courses in both, but there was the lingering fear of picking the 'wrong' passion. Picking the one and it turning into something you came to hate because of the pressures of success. It was one of the things she had come to admire about Noel so much, and why her cheeks were currently rising in color at that moment, his passion and his drive for his craft.
Blushing ceased when she heard THAT, however. "Hospital stay?!" You can't just casually bring that sort of thing up like it's no big deal, Katerina!

He couldn't imagine being in a muggle family. He was glad his family were all wizards and witches and that he never had to feel out of place or uncomfortable. "Do your parents treat you okay?" He had heard stories how some didn't and others, like Cass's family were super supportive and super nice. "I'm glad you are at school with people that understand you now." She was really cool and he couldn't imagine how she would have felt if she didn't get to go to school with them.
He was surprised Kitridge was leaving, from what he heard the man was married to Hogwarts. People just said he had a wife just for show, that he never really would ever leave. So this was interesting. Though he didn't really think to much into it and shrugged with the Head of House talk. "Is Hirsch even a Ravenclaw?" Wasn't that a rule or something at the school? Maybe not though he really didn't know what houses any of the professors were in. Benton wasn't sure about the values part. He fully still respected his Uncle and still looked up to him, but he knew Torrance thought he wasn't the same person anymore after the family was told about what all went on. "Yeah I think he'd do a great job as Head of House. He'd probably do some fun things for all of you like he does at home for Juni."
"My favorite is chocolate frog with cookies crushed on top."

Carl smiled at Mel. "A bit, I guess! I didn't mean to get scared either." He said. Yay, hair ruffles! He had missed her hair ruffles.
Nodding, he said, "Yeah! Going to the beach in Spain will be fun." He had finished packing already and could not wait for the trip. "Oh, just stupid things... watching movies, playing sports and such. Maybe you can meet them sometime! They are always curious about what kind of school I go to." He nodded. It sucked having to lie to them that he went to a Muggle boarding school.
"That's great! Puppies are great." The boy said. Pity he was not allowed to adopt any. Wait, the guy was really a werewolf? Wow. "Wow. That's pretty intriguing. Did you ask him about y'know, what it's like?" It must be a sensitive topic, so he totally understood if they did not talk about it.
He looked up as Mel apologized and listened to her speak. "You don't have to be sorry. I was touched by how you said you like the way I am right now. I looked for you at the end of term too, but there were just too many people." Yeah. In some ways he was glad they were talking about this. It made things less awkward. "So, how was Mika's wedding? Other than the fact that Mr Werewolf turned up? Do you want ice cream? My treat!"
