Upon opening the door to Atticus' Attic, you will be met with the sound of Wizarding bands both new and old being piped through the whole store. Step inside and you'll find yourself among a sea of Music Tables boasting thousands of albums from artists both Magic and Muggle on any medium you aspire to find. Vinyl records, cassette tapes, compact discs, and 8-track tapes, along with the appropriate devices to play all of these things, paired with large over-ear headphones, can be found at each table. And though many of the tables are dedicated to well-known Muggle recording formats, a fair amount of them are also dedicated to "item albums" as well. Small boxes bearing a band and album name litter these tables, and inside are items the size of a knut, varying in colour and shape dependent on the box's label. A single tap with a wand will cause the album to begin to play aloud or the album can also be stuck behind the ear to be played privately, so as to not disturb others.

At the back of the shop, you might notice the door tucked off to the right side with a shiny plaque marking the room beyond as "The Recording Booth". Inside you'll find a very large, enchanted soundboard and a plethora of various sound equipment. A sign on the wall asks that you please not touch the soundboard, as it is a very delicate piece of technology. The wide room is complete with several microphone stands scattered throughout and many enchanted instruments, waiting to be played by hand or charmed to life. You'll find that any artist entering the room will have their music or vocals magically isolated by careful charms laid out by the shopkeeper. Time in this booth can be booked in advance and walk-ins are also accepted on basis of availability.

Set along the back wall of the shop is an area devoted specifically to displaying the various band merchandise offered up for sale. The wall is lined completely with T-shirts, stacks of which can be found in cube shelving beneath, along with an assortment of band-related hoodies. A few tables bear a hodge-podge of items to be browsed: band logo jewelry, keychains, posters, and sturdy white cardboard boxes filled with music-related magazines, each labeled on the front with the magazine's name, are just a few of the treasures you’ll find here. Whatever your musical needs, Atticus's Attic is sure have what you're searching for.

He just walked up to Carsyn and gently tapped her on the shoulder. This was just a casual run in and he could lie well enough about how his summer was going.. so this was fine.

Had Carsyn been the jumpy person, she might have jumped at the shoulder tap but alas she wasn't that type of person. No, she was the type of person who instinctively dropped the album she was holding, her hand flinging back to make contact with whoever's nose or whatever.

Orion stood stock still as Carsyn’s hand came up to greet his nose and he winced a little.. Merlin.. had that been any harder he might have had to leave here and head for Mungos! Thankfully, it wasn’t too bad and it only stung a little as he reached up to run it..

Lesson leaned.

Ooooopsss, really, she was sorry. But hey, at least her reflexes were still in check had it been someone bad. Then again, if it had been someone trying to cause harm, they probably would have been on the defense and retaliated quite quickly. A fact that Carsyn hadn't been willing to think about; she was only going to think about the fact that she had great reflexes.

It was almost a relief to follow a recipe and always get the same result..

He grinned a bit as her eyes widened and he put his hands on his hips, he still had his black jeans on but they weren’t baggy anymore.. in fact they were actually skinny jeans..

Was he getting.. style?

“I thought I’d change it up a bit.. what do you think?” He asked her with a grin.

On her lunch break from the boutique and the rest of her shift not starting up again until a little later in the afternoon, Candela decided to venture into Diagon Alley for something sweet off the vendors and then perused a few of the shops. It was nothing more than innocent curiosity that brought her into the music shop this day, though there was also a subtle ulterior motive in the back of her head, and she skipped through the aisle of albums and recognized Jove's among those on display. She only knew OF him and had not met him officially yet, but she made a mental not to give a few tracks off of his debute a listen once she was finished with her initial look-around.

Though she soon found her attention draw away from drumsticks and t shirts when she spotted two familiar faces. Or, well, one familiar face and the unmistakable dark curly hair of another. And she was SO pleased to see him out and about on his own and feeling more confident still, even more so than he had been after she has rushed to the coffee shop after receiving his letter. All sentiments she would share with him later...or perhaps convey in a glance.

"Orion!" she chirped as she skipped to a stop behind him and gave him a hug from behind and perched her chin on his shoulder to look at Carsyn next. "Hi Carsyn." She unwrapped her arms from her housemate to give the Gryffindor a quick hug as well and then took a peek at what they both had been looking over...though nothing in particular was standing out. "Any suggestions for some music? I'm still trying to get caught up with the pop culture here in the UK."

For some reason it seemed foreign to Carsyn for anyone to make potions at home ... well, like, anyone who was their age at least. Obviously there were potioneers who did it for a living and made potions all the time. If she was being honest, she wanted to use potions to some varying degree in her continued studies. "Well that's good. A good distractor"

Speaking of distractors, when his hands went to his hips, she noticed his jeans were tight.... different from normal. Finding herself frowning automatically before he even asked her what she thought, she quickly bit her lip to try to conceal the frown. "I ... liked the baggy jeans. It was more ... it was your aesthetic." Speaking of aesthetics....

The familiar faceof her sister's dormmate appeared suddenly on Orion's shoulder and then she was embraced in a quick hug - something she returned automatically. "Oh hey. You look aglow." Who was she kidding? Candela RADIATED all the time, so this was nothing different, except it was a summertime glow. "I personally like the more upbeat ... that gets me moving and dancing and running." Was there any particular labels she liked? She wasn't partial, if it got her moving.

Orion saw the frown on Carsyn’s face as she looked over his outfit.. and his smile fell a bit as well. Here he was trying to change up his look a bit.. and she didn’t like it. He felt like he could pull off the skinny jeaned, leather jacket, semi emo boy look pretty well. It was less dungeon creature and more.. human.

Which was what he was going for. But apparently Carsyn liked the dungeon creature approach.

“Well.. maybe I’m trying to change my aesthetic.. ” Like he was trying to change his life.

Though of course Carsyn didn’t know anything about that.. someone else did though.. and as if his thoughts has conjured her.. he felt an all too familiar presence at his back and a weight on his shoulder. Her sweet voice chirped in his ear and he had to smile as his hands briefly touched hers as she hugged him.

“Candi! ” He said happily as she moved to hug Carsyn.

“Ahhh, well I have a few bands that I like.. muggle if magical? ” He asked her, as he looked as Carsyn.. “I like upbeat music as well, though a nice sad ballad is good as well. ” He said teasingly.

There was MUCH relief in Orion's reaction considering where things had been between them only a few months ago. And although she was still a little on edge and a little hesitant, it was nice to feel a sense of normalcy between them returning. Or rather... a new sense of normalcy.

"That's very sweet of you to say, thank you," she beamed pleasantly at Carsyn. "It seems like summer is treating you well as well?" It was an invitation to provide updates on what the Gryffindor had been up to since the Hogwarts Express had pulled in to King's Cross Station. "You too, Orion," she turned towards her Hufflepuff with a giddy wink as it only hit her just now how her face had not been squished with the hood of his usual black hoodie and hopped a step back to get a better look at him. "Look at you! Maturing your look," she smiled at him. "You know...at the boutique I work at there is a humble little men's corner. I can probably wiggle my discount in your favor if you want to take a look sometime. One of my positions is helping to be a personal shopper in store sooooooooo..."

She knew how careful he had to be with finances at the moment and redefining your wardrobe could really be a drain on the wallet...but also a necessity. At least when one was trying to also redefine themselves.

Did anyone wonder why she changed her look so often? It wasn't as playful as the majority assumed it to be.

She turned her attention back to the music display in front of them. "I'm not surprised you want music to help keep you moving," she nodded to Carsyn. "Very on brand." Her bright gaze shifted to Orion and she shrugged her shoulders lightly. "I have no preference on muggle or magical artists...as long as it is music that can move and inspire me...though I personally tend to veer more towards new age pop..." Which sometimes clashed with Frederick's wrock - which was really the only genre of music she was even remotely caught up on.

Oh. But didn't Orion realize that what made him ... him ... was his aesthetic? He tried so hard to blend in and be unnoticed, but in fact it was the differences that made him more noticeable. This new Orion was, as Candi said, maturing his look, but it was different.

"I guess, it's just gonna take some getting used to," Carsyn admitted. Wait, Orion liked upbeat music? That definitely didn't fit his aesthetic. The sad ballad she would actually buy even if he was joking.

"Why thank you, yes, well summer has me playing competitively with quidditch again, so I suppose it's maximizing my exposure to the sun..." As limited as that was with UK weather. "You both should come watch a game! I can probably get you tickets but they're usually pretty cheap anyway since we're not like professional or anything."

Was she too consistent? Predictive? Did she need to redefine herself more? "New age pop is great. I'd definitely recommend ..." she moved slowly, her eyes gazing over the titles. "This one. It's got a whole mix of upbeat songs and artists from the last ten years, so it's pretty recent and should definitely get you moving."

Orion was still careful around Candi, but thankfully his terrible self loathing had given way to more of a cautious optimism around her. They had talked several things out and they had grown as friends..

Look at him.. growing. Who knew. Maybe he wasn’t quite a dungeon creature anymore. Maybe he was more.. a ghost drifting through the wall. Not quite human yet.. but definitely a step up from where he had been.. as a troll... in the dungeon.. just thought you ought to know.

He was pulled from his thoughts as Candi spoke and he grinned. “I am! I thought a maybe new look to go with the new me..” He grinned as he tugged on a curl. “Well almost a new look. ” He hasn’t changed his hair yet.. he grinned at her as she spoke about her shop.. “Oh I’ll be there soon.. I have a few more pieces to purchase. ” He said with an easy smile before glancing over at Carsyn..

Take some getting used to hmm? He frowned a bit as he tugged at the sleeves of his jacket, a habit he had usually done with his hoodie with he wanted to retreat, however his jacket wasn’t long enough to cover his hands.. “Yeah.. I guess it will. ” He said as Carsyn talked about quidditch.

“I’d love to come, just let me know in advance what day and I’ll make sure to get it off. ” He was a working boy now.. he couldn’t just go off and ditch work.. he wanted to try and save as much of the money that his mom left him as he could.

He smiled at their music talk, but didn’t say much.. rather embarrassed by how much he actually liked the new age pop Candi was talking about.

Honestly, Orion. Were Candi to know these thoughts she would be back on her usual soft lecture about how he was none of these things but rather uniquely and unequivocally Orion. But he was spared, for today, it would seem.

"I hope that tug does not mean that you are intending on cutting off your curls," she pouted with a small wiggle of her finger at him in a pseudo threatening kind of way. "Good. I'll be expecting you then." She concluded the sentiment with a playful nudge of the shoulder...and tried not to frown too noticeably when she noticed that nervous tick of his with his sleeves and gently rested one of her hands on top of his while giving a gently squeeze. He did remember that clothes and everything were about how they made him feel, right? She could remind him of this later if necessary, since she considered herself a bit of an aspiring fashionista and designer.

"Oh! I've never been to a quidditch match before," she nodded thoughtfully while tapping her cheek with her index finger. "I have a few things coming up...and my part time schedule to work around too but I should be able to make one. Plenty of our classmates are on the teams to, yeah? Maybe you and I can make one together, Orion?" And maybe she would see if Niko had time off from his competitions and training to make one too...he might enjoy it. And also being somewhere where she wasn't cheering for and embarrassing him with glittery signs.

She took a hop step forward to take the suggestion from Carsyn and gave it a look over. "Sort of like a greatest hit list from the last 10 years? Seems like a good place to start...a whole decade of music though...wonder how they even narrowed that down....though I suppose that this is a sort of top two hits of each year...that would make sense." Which essentially meant that she had answered her own question.

It was a strange feeling being back in Diagon Alley after spending his summer back home in Brooklyn. Returning to Hogwarts had NOT been on his to-do list but it's what his little sister wanted. And what Eimear wanted, Eimear got. He wasn't about to let her go back to that place without someone there to keep an eye on her. That someone being him and Jude too. So double the safety?

One minute he was exploring DA with his siblings and the next he had been alone. Somewhere along the way though he had come across Eimear again, ushering her into the music with him. Maybe they would find something that could make this entire trip useful. Music was something he happened to like after all.

Had his sister had asked him if their parents would have allowed her to return to Hogwarts on her own, he could've easily told her that answer. Absolutely not. Especially not after what happened there last term. Which would've been A-okay with him because he could careless about returning there. Yet, he was going back. Such a lucky girl Eimear was to have two older brothers that loved her as much as Jude and him do. Two brothers that would always lookout for her even when she didn't want or need them to. It's how their family worked. No matter what went on, they always looked out for their own.

Cian lifted a shoulder in a shrug. *"Maybe? I haven't decided yet. Why, see something you want?"* This was said through signing for the simple fact that he was NOT going to speak loud enough to be heard in this place. He hardly spoke as it was and to have to speak loud enough to be heard over the people and music playing just wasn't going to happen.

He wasn't looking for anything specific today. But who knew what he might find in this place.

It had taken a bit of careful planning but thanks to pop's work picking up along with the U-17 season, Joshua was able to slot himself some alone time in the Alley for "shopping" and an unrestricted time limit. So to speak. His mom was the more chill between the two and would passively promote her son being allowed to just be a kid and not a well oiled machine reeving up for an inevitable career in racing. Despite this, as far as both his parents knew, he was in Diagon Alley today on Hogwarts business to replenish some supplies to his potions kit and some other loose ends still left to take care of before his sixth year started.

The reality? The Gryffindor just wanted to spend all day in the music shop and was banking on it being a less busy day so he could spend some time in one of the booths. He had had to pack his guitar away in the back of his closet for the summer seeing as when he was home he needed to study for OWLs or focus on Captain duties. It was just too risky to pull his guitar out and he had become entirely too accustomed to really belting it thanks to the shift in attitude in light of potentially vanishing forever at Hogwarts.

Thankfully there seemed to be openings today. He just needed to wait a few minutes for the person currently in the booth to finish up, which shouldn't be too much longer according to the sign-up sheet. So the shopkeeper had assured him at least.

So, in the meanwhile, he idly browsed the music selection and quickly moved towards the Phoenix Theater and West End recordings.

If, this time last year, someone had told Gabrielle that she was going to have a ridiculously busy summer, the Gryffindor would have laughed hysterically for approximately 32 minutes. And then, once she had recovered, she would have been sent into small fits of giggles every time her brain went back to the statement. It had, back then, seemed preposterous: of course, she had friends, but she would never have described herself as popular. If anything, she would have suggested that people were only friends with her because she forced herself upon them, or because they were stuck at school together, or because they were too polite to tell her to go away and leave them alone.

But, Merlin, had she been busy! It was almost like she'd had no time to relax during her weeks off. After cramming in her OWLs as early as possible (honestly, getting them out of the way had seemed a good idea at the time, although she was wondering if she would regret that when the results came in), she'd met up with Igor and Piccadilly, spent time with Eli in Italy (!), had seen Josh play football and had been to a couple of Leighton's fights.

All of it was incredibly exciting, and Gabrielle wouldn't have changed it for the world. Except maybe bumping into Luz whilst at Leighton's fight with Joshua. Bumping into Luz anywhere was not a situation she would have enjoyed at all, but being with the two boys made it a million times more uncomfortable.

But right then she was NOT thinking about that, or all of the strange feelings that it had brought up. Instead, she was focused on the fact that Joshua was here!

Okay, so maybe she had spotted him head in Atticus' and followed him, but she had TRIED to catch his eye from across the street and clearly he had been within his own thoughts. Not that it bothered her much, of course, because she could just surprise him in the shop! Like this!

"Hiiiii Joshua," she called out, moving though the music selections towards him.

Okay, so maybe she had spotted him head in Atticus' and followed him, but she had TRIED to catch his eye from across the street and clearly he had been within his own thoughts. Not that it bothered her much, of course, because she could just surprise him in the shop! Like this!

"Hiiiii Joshua," she called out, moving though the music selections towards him.

His nimble fingers continued to flip through the options and found entirely too many options he wanted to listen to to pass the time while also holding out for one of his top 5 to show up...which meant that he was committing to nothing. Which was terribly ironic. Though his attention was briefly torn from the covers when he heard his name - whole name and not a nickname, which then narrowed down who a fair bit - and turned his head to see Gabrielle bounding towards him. "Hey!" chuckles as he forgoes his whole search and turns sideways towards her while leaning against the stand with his hip. "Good seeing you."

He meant that too and may actively be ignoring that awkward evening and whatever else may be lingering there.

"You looking for anything in particular?" He probably had half the shop memorized by this point due to all his frequent visits. Everything but apparently where the latest West End recording for Newsies was.

And was he also moving in for a small hug? Absolutely. Though he was trying to be casual about it and doing it one handed while his hip still remained attached to the stand he was leaning against. Just needed a pair of shades and he would be set in the cool as a cucumber look.

...Actually, that probably wasn't true. She had convinced herself that she knew - that she truly understood the depths of their love for each other - but, truthfully, she didn't. What she did know, though, was that the love definitely went both ways. Her brothers might not want their little sister looking out for them and fussing over them in the way that she did, but that wouldn't stop her. They were there for her and she was there for them, and that was that.

With a small smile at her brother, she shrugged and began looking around. She played a little guitar, 'borrowing' Cian's every now and then to practice or using the ones at Hogwarts, but she was actually sort of interested in playing the piano. She hadn't told anyone that, though. After a few moments and some tip-toeing to get a better view of the instruments around her, she asked Cian, "do they have pianos... or keyboards?" Her expression was innocent and carefree. As if her sudden interested in the piano wouldn't raise any eyebrows. She had no idea how much keyboards or pianos cost, but... she did sort of want to look at them.

Pianos? Keyboards? Cian stared blankly at his one and only sister. This didn't appear to be that type of music shop to him. All he really saw was stacks of records and cassettes and band merchandise. Sure the place was stocked well with a decent selection of these items but a piano or keyboard wasn't something he had noticed around here. *"I don't see any?"* He signed, glancing around once again in case he somehow hadn't noticed them. Which was unlikely given their size.

*"Why? You don't play either of those."* Cian raised an eyebrow at Eimear curiously. The only thing he knew her to be able to play was the guitar and even that was her simply learning the instrument. And yes he knew all the times she had 'borrowed' his guitar. Luckily for her she had always returned it in the same condition as when she had taken it. If anything happened to his guitar he would be very very upset.

After walking through the door to the shop, Amari stopped almost immediately by the entrance and looked around with a huge smile on her face. She had wanted to stop by here last year but her uncle had been rushing her through the alley so he could make it back to work on time. This time around, she had the whole day to herself and could do as she pleased, within reason.

Her eyes took in as many details as they could, and she made note of each section, including the entrance to a room in the back. Amari actually didn't know many wizard band names but she was so ready to spend the day learning more. She just wasn't sure where exactly to start.

Amari squinted her eyes at him because she couldn't tell if she knew him or not. Surely she'd seen him around school but she had seen a lot of people around school last term.

When he said hi to her though, her eyes went wide with surprise and she immediately smiled so he wouldn't think she was some creeper just staring him down. "Oh hi!" Okay, maybe that was louder than was necessary. And even after hearing a bit of his voice, she couldn't place his face with a name. But now she was positive she knew his face.

Taking a step closer to him, she took a look at the record he was eyeing and then got a good look at his side profile. "I know you, right? Somehow?" Not know know, but know, y'know? "I feel like I should know your name." Hopefully he wasn't someone super important.

"Oh right, and I'm Amari." Now that introductions were done, she could relax a little. She had never been a nervous girl but something about switching schools last year really threw her for a loop. But Blake seemed kind enough so Amari was sure she had nothing to be nervous about.

"Soooo...I don't know many of these bands. But I listen to all kinds of muggle music! So I assume these are just as good, if not better. She picked up a record with a pink cover, as it was her favorite color, and read the names of the songs. "Do you have a favorite band?"

Some one really important? That made Blake want to puff up like a peacock. Ruffle his feathers a little bit. "I mean, I like to think I'm important." Blake added with a slight giggle. "But, I don't know if anyone else would think so." Well maybe his parents ... but they don't count.

"Nice to meet you as well Amari." Blake wish he could have said that he knew her, since they were in the same year and house, but to be honest he didn't know much or anyone other than Bernadette and Claudine. "I'll be honest, I'm not that big into music, I just came in here to ditch my dad." Which was super true, he could take or leave music really, but he needed to get away from his dad. "What about you though? Any favorites?"
