Default Welcome to the Daily Prophet

Since the early 1880's The Daily Prophet has been the primary source of news for British witches and wizards alike. With some of the greatest journalistic minds at their disposal, and strong ties to the British Ministry of Magic, the Prophet is always first to report prime news articles. The Daily Prophet is also known for their editorials and human interest pieces. Here is where you get subscribed for a daily dose of the Prophet, or maybe just a tour to see how this distinguished paper is run.

The links below will help you navigate through the Daily Prophet:

Reception Desk
The entrance to the Prophet's Headquarters is sleek and professional without seeming presumptuous. The building's name overhead the desk assures you that, yes, you are in the right place. Separating the Conference room into its own place are glass walls. Past that and down the corridor are the offices, writer's working space and other rooms.

As you approach the front desk, you see your own reflection on the dark shiny surface of it. It's sleek form fits in well with the Head quarter's entrance. The warm smile of the Prophet's secretary though, washes away whatever sense of intimidation the place could give. If you need anything, don't hesitate to let the receptionist know. And if you find yourself having to wait, the chairs in the waiting area are comfortable and there's even a small little table. Hopefully, you won't be kept waiting too long as there's neither food nor nourishment at your disposal.

Conference Room
Trapped by glass walls, the conference room has more than enough light - even if it's of the neon possibly flashing kind. New tables are fitted into the expanded conference room to fit the equally expanded staff of the Daily Prophet. The chairs have received a rather moderate upgrade. Although cushioned, it isn't made for prolonged meetings so it is best to get out what you need to say and move on to working otherwise you'd be sporting a numb posterior very soon.

In the corner of the conference room, a water cooler and paper cones have been added for the eternally parched. It's also useful for those who did a bit of too much jabbering and find their throats temporarily dry.

Editor-in-Chief's Office
The last door near the staff offices you will come to is the Editor-in-Chief. The name on the door might be quite long, but that name has sat in this office before. The name Jorge Cristo De La Garza sparkles on the gold name plaque, though the door might not even be closed. He does like to have an open door so that people feel more welcomed to come in if they need him. Though don't take his open door as an entrance for danger, no he had been attacked once in this very office so there are some protective charms at the door for anyone who isn't there just to report on news or have the next best story.

Walking into the office you can see that his wife had helped give it a woman's touch with the matching furniture and some pictures of his family. The desk has stacks of papers and notes scattered around, but it always has tea and cups waiting for a brainstorming session or a meeting here and there. A few plants to help with the air in the room and to bring the positive vibes for clear thinking. His fireplace sits off to the left so that flooing home or to the Ministry can be easy access. If you have come into sit there are two chairs that are both equally comfortable for any guest he might have.

Staff Work Area
The sleek, professional, and possibly slight presumptuous appearance of the Daily Prophet fades as you enter the spacious work area. Not even the hustle and bustle of the staff can take away from the airiness of the large work area. The windows aren't real, though instead of being charmed to have pleasant views, they are charmed to show different locations of the wizarding world in real time, should anything news worthy happen unexpectedly.

Clusters of desks are scattered about the place in an organized fashion, grouped by sections of the prophet, and easily distinguished by the stacks of paper work atop the large desks. The editors have their own cluster of desks off near a large table that's used as extra workspace, or for when an impromptu gathering that doesn't require the conference room is needed.

Amongst a few framed articles, and moving pictures of photos from past assignments, is a large bulletin board for all important, and trivial, announcements. An eclectic clutter of old and new, scraps of paper, post it notes, and index cards push-pinned in, you can find anything from notices to the Prophet staff, birthdays, promotions, absences, story tips, employee of the month, and even silly notes and doodles. Of course there's coffee in the corner as well, though not as good as the stuff in the break room, it's there to keep you trucking through the long hours.

Break Room
Although the coffee inside the metal tins on top of the counter isn't as premium blend as the stuff in the work room, it's still good enough to go for a second cup. Right next to the black metal tins of coffee are silver metal tins full of decent tea. It's quality isn't very good, as coffee, somehow, seems to be the preferred drink for the journalists of the Daily Prophet.

A small fridge is in place opposite of the counter and sink. Amongst the items inside are bottles of exploding lemonade, most likely belonging to the journalist always too eager to take on dangerous assignments. He never notices when one goes missing. There are also small lunch bags possibly from those who are low on cash or simply have a taste for homemade food. Occasionally, the small round table is graced with a box of donuts or pastries.

The pair of dingy yellow couches look worn and old, but they're actually a great deal more comfortable than the chair at your desk and good for gathering with fellows for gossip. Too much time shouldn't be spent gossiping in here though, there's work to be done after all.
