Whether they're covering crime, sports, Ministry happenings, fashion, gossip, politics, or the latest in Wizarding news, the staff can be found here. Each with their own desk area, the journalist also have a large table in the center of their space, for collaboration or meetings. These top-notch journalists, investigate leads and are the heart of the DP workforce. Answering directly to the Editor-in-Chief, the staff workspace is directly in view of the boss' office. Each staff member is welcome to decorate their workspace as they see fit, but there are also a collection of old copies of some of the Daily Prophets' biggest headlines as well as their biggest blunders hanging around the office for reminders of the great and not so great parts of the prophet.

The building may be new, but the history has returned.

As you leave the reception area and head towards the staff offices it has all been decorated by the staff themselves. Check out the festive areas and enjoy the music as you take your tour of the Daily Prophet. Some of the journalists may have left you a special holiday cookie or treat near their cubical. Please be respectful to their work areas though, this is an open house to get to know our staff not to mess with their things.

The staff is on hand enjoying their night, even though they aren't on the clock to work they are there to meet the community and for you to see what changes the Prophet are making, but what traditions they are keeping as new management and staff have come on recently. So come in and enjoy the music as well as the atmosphere, look around, dance, talk, and remember there is more to see as well as food in the staff break room.

Anyone?

Dear mother of Merlin... this was not his doing. Any of it. Nope. Casimir was not full of holiday cheer, nor did he think that turning their offices into a "Winter Wonderland" his own personal form of hell more like or whatever was a good idea. And WHY were they inviting everyone into the Prophet ANYWAY? It didn't seem like a wise idea to him.

But what did he know? He only had two degrees in communications and mass media and some other accolades that qualified him for this job and many others. Heh.

Okay so he wasn't actually angry, okay, but it still didn't sit well with him that they were letting the general public into their private spaces. Ugh. Straightening his stupid reindeer tie he made his way toward his own cubicle and plopped into his chair. "Happy freaking Christmas," he muttered to himself before sifting through some papers there. He'd rather focus on his work than this... atrocity.

Stupid Christmas.

Stupid family stuff looming ahead.

“Well somebody’s struggling to get with the holiday spirit…” Opal commented, as she wandered past Casimir’s desk to her own. Trying to work with this going on? Seemed like a lost cause to her. She hadn’t decorated her own desk as much as some of the others, but it did play host to a couple of large charmed snow globes, and a basket of homemade goodies from her own kitchen. Iced gingerbread biscuits and coffee flavoured fudge, which her room mates had assured her were both edible. Free for colleagues and visitors alike to take, not that she was expecting many of the latter to pop by to her desk, given she was somewhat of an unknown. Some of her former WADA colleagues, perhaps?

For now though, she dropped her notebook and quill on her desk and turned to the nearby grumpy guts. “Would a shot of something strong help?”

Grunt.

She got a grunt at first. "Not much for the holidays anymore, ya know." Not that he intended to go into much detail about why, but rest assured it had something to do with the woman that got away... and stomped his heart to shards with her designer shoes before walking away with another man. A much LESSER man at that. But now was not the time to think of such things, was it? Nope. Casimir had fought really hard to get over that witch and was not going to back slide now that it was Christmas time. BAH!

Shaking himself from his thoughts he let his eyes fall on Opal, a small smirk playing at his lips. "What ya got?" he asked as he opened his own desk drawer and drew out a crystal decanter and two glasses. Yeah, yeah cliche for a writer to keep a drink in his desk but man, deadlines were Hell. "Got any plans for the hols? Aside from this atrocity, that is?" Polite conversation and all. Not to mention he was simply curious by nature.

!!!!!!!!IT WAS CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!

Maia bopped her way into the work space wearing a Santa hat, which did not match her rainbow hair very well BUT WHO CARED? Even though she was probably spending this Christmas alone (or maybe with Asher - MAYBE!), she was in the best of the best holiday spirit. She even brought candy canes and chocolate with her for her friends at the office!

She was heading towards her desk when she noticed two people already here and a big grin formed on her face. "HIIII!" Why did Casimir look like the Grinch? "Have a candy cane!" She tossed one his way then looked at Opal. "You too!" And she tossed one over to her. "Merry Christmas, FRIENDS!"

She loved this time of the year! As if it wasn't obvious.

hermygirl 10-10-2017 09:21 AM

A grunt? How charming. Opal raised her eyebrow at his reply, but knew better than to pry, despite her newly fledging instincts as a reporter. Family stuff, she assumed.

And he wasn't the only one with a bottle of drink in his desk. She eyed the crystal glasses and decanter a moment, before pulling out an unopened bottle of Ogden's Finest. A gift from Garrick Ogden himself, following the publication of her article about his cousin. She just hadn't yet found the occasion to crack into it. Caffeine had been her fix when approaching a deadline so far. "Will this suffice?"

As for Christmas? He got a shrug. "The parentals are headed down to the south of France, but I don't feel the need to join them. Probably just gonna be me and the cats on the 25th, although a group of us are getting together for Boxing Day."

And then Maia happened, and candy canes were flying. She caught hers with a laugh; talk about a contrast with Casimir. "And to you! We were gonna have a drink, if you fancy something a bit stronger than what they have out there?" Or less eggy.

Why was eggnog even a thing?

Woo late! All you people!

Fate walked into the staff spaces and she made a little face at all of the Christmas decorations, while she didn’t mind the holiday, she wasn’t to keen on how gaudy everything seemed to get. She preferred things simple.

Which was why her desk had just a string of lights and a painting of a Christmas tree that she herself has done. Might as well try and show off her talent, yeah?

She hung back for a bit before finally stepping over to where her coworkers were.

”Hello Casimir, Opal, Maia.“ The former Hufflepuff said a bit quietly, she was still rather shy around her co-workers. But she was trying to be friendly. She could use some friends. ”Merry Christmas.“ She said in her soft voice as she stood there. Yeah she didn’t have any candy canes or a crystal decanter, but maybe a smile would be okay?

Maybe?

SarcasticStrawberry 10-14-2017 10:50 PM

We're here.

Everything seem to come together so well, it really did look great a round here. Everything just screamed Christmas. Sundae looked around the office space, seeing who all was there. She couldn’t wait to see everyone all dressed up and everything. ”Hello Everyone. Fate, Maia. Opal, Casimir” She greeted them with a big bright smile. ”Merry Christmas.”

She had just finished up singing a few songs with the carolers over in Reception. She had seen them and headed over there the very first thing. She would rejoin them later but for now she was going to mingle and try to recruit some of her co workers to come caroling later.

*also joins! very late*

With hot chocolate in hand, she headed back to her sanctuary. Her cube.

Arabella had given up trying to work on her latest piece. Instead she had decided to take a break and go mingle with her fellow reporters. She wasn't really in a holiday mood but she had a santa hat on her head which matched her red sweater perfectly.

Sure, the santa hat hadn't exactly been her idea but she needed to get into the festive mood. So maybe the santa hat that she donned was making Arabella feel very ridiculous but she had a bet to win. As soon as she saw Casimir, she couldn't help but smirk at his reaction to this whole event. He looked like he needed a drink. Opal was there too. And a very excited Maia who had candy canes and seemed to have had quite the intake of sugar. Alright. What a range of holiday fans they had here.. There was Fate too and Sundae. "Hello," she greeted her coworkers as she headed over to her cube. "What's happening over here?" She eyed her surroundings, taking note of anything hanging from the ceiling. Hopefully no one had put mistletoe up there.

Why were they opening their staff work spaces up to the public again? Louise hadn't seen their editor-in-chief opening up his office space and while she wasn't normally a privatized person, there was some confidential paperwork which the now nineteen year old had to quickly stash away into her drawers, and opened a box of store-bought gingerbread cookies at her cubical (did they know Christmas was also her birthday? Did they also know she always got gipped growing up on presents? Cause apparently people thought she'd get extra, but really she would get one).

What she should have done was prepare sooner for this gathering, but alas, she'd waited till last minute in working on her latest piece. Although could one really blame her? She had a lot on her mind, including of course, thinking about her nineteenth birthday. Her last birthday she would have as a teenager, thank merlin.

No Santa's hat for her today though, because Christmas was her birthday, she wore her birthday TIARA, thank you very much. "Hello everyone!" She greeted of her fellow reporters, eying Maia warily. Well, someone had too much sugar, which made the American grateful she opted to supply gingerbread cookies instead of cake.

Erindipity 10-17-2017 06:50 PM

All of you

So this was what Hell was like? Or was this purgatory? He was trapped here in this in between for how long?!

But whatever. He forced a smile at the over zealous candy cane flinger and even let it beam him in the head in lieu of catching it. He had no desire to do so. Christmas spirit- He did not have it. Glancing back to Opal, he nodded his head and pushed one of his two glasses toward her on his desk. "Sounds much more interesting than what I have had planned for me," he said with a sigh as he loosened the Merlin forsaken Christmas tie and smoothed it down his front.

And now they were all gathering? Did they all expect to be given drink? Because it wasn't happening. Especially to the ones who didn't look a day over 12. (and there a few of those... looking at you Louise and Fate for sure.) BUT out of professional courtesy and just plain manners he offered the ladies all a smile as he sat up a bit straighter in his seat. "Guess it's Fate that we're all gathered here, yeah?" He was so hilarious. Seriously though, she got a wink before he turned to greet the others with nods and smiles. No need to list their names (some of which he didn't remember at the moment any way). "Are we all prepared for the outsiders to invade our private space?" THEIR SANCTUM, THEIR SECOND HOME! Ugh. Could he vote no now, please? Was it too late?

"What say we all have a bite to eat and a drink after? Those of you who are of age anyway..." MORE JOKES. Merlin, he was on fire today.
