Overview:
Esme Darcy adn Oliver McDean have been friends since he attended Hogwarts and coincidentally, they’ve had crushes on each other since then but never told the other. RPs of their journey as friends and eventually a couple will be played out here.

Scene 1:
It’s the year 2092 and Esme’s birthday. Oliver arranged to meet her in Hogsmeade since he wanted to see her and give her a birthday present. Later, the two will meet Esme’s sister, Juno and Juno’s boyfriend, Leon. Scene 2: It is the summer holidays, and Esme and Juno have been joined by their boyfriends while staying at their estate in Paris. As part of their time together, there is a lot of sightseeing. On one of these sightseeing trips, Esme has taken her boyfriend to see the Eiffel Tower. Scene 3: A meeting Esme set up so that Olly could meet a fellow Goth, Kitty Valentine. It takes place at the Leaky Cauldron (Main Floor Seating) during the summer of 2092. Scene 4: Valentine's Day meeting in Hogsmeade (2093) Scene 5: Painting in the Park (Summer 2093) Scene 6: Surprise Dinner Date Scene 7: Bun in the oven! Scene 8: Deciding on the right house Scene 9: Oliver and Esme move into their new cottage. Scene 10: Awake with crying baby Emmett.
Esme was in a really good mood as she walked along the street of Hogsmeade. Not only was it a nice day for being the middle of winter, but it was also her birthday. Not just any birthday at that, but her 17th birthday; as of today she was of age and could perform magic outside of Hogwarts. Juno would be in the same boat tomorrow.
With a big smile on her face, she used her wand to make bubbles form, twirling around and around while enjoying them. This was fuuuuuun.
Olly admittedly was rather eager to see Esme. It had been such a long while since he had. Well, if you counted two months to be a while, then it was understandable why he was so eager. He had made plans with her, since they now kept in contact with each other while he was off at WADA, to meet today which happened to be her birthday.
It was cold out but he wasn't that bothered. Olly knew they would be able to get a butterbeer at the Three Broomstick sometime soon. He had just gotten to the Street but he spotted her almost immediately. The guy made his way towards his crush. "Hi, Esme. Happy birthday,'' he said softly.

I was hoping that you would get here soon." Now they could spend some time together. He could also meet Juno properly. This was important since she had been talking about him a lot since they had met up at Christmas.
Yep, she was definitely crushing on him. How could she not when he was so amazing?

“Have you got anything special planned today?’’ Olly was secretly hoping that he would be able to spend at least most of the day with her but then again, she had her twin and her own friends too. He waited until Esme held out her hand then slipped the bracelet onto it. “Hope you like it,’’ he added with a shy smile.

Esme could not stop smiling now that Olly was here, and there was no way that she was complaining about it. He was the bright spot on an already amazing day and hopefully they could spend a lot of time together since he would be going back to WADA soon. Letters were nice, but hanging out was even better!

It’ll be good to catch up with her.’’ Though he’d only be there to spend time with Esme.
Esme’s reaction made him grin like an idiot. The shyness had vanished in an instant. “Of course I remembered. I remember everything about you.’’ Damn. He had really said that out aloud. I mean, I did speak a few times to her before but since I didn’t usually talk to a lot of persons…” If he remembered right, Juno was the same as well. But he wanted to talk of Esme right now. “Did you get a unicorn for your birthday as yet?’’ he asked as a joke.
Olly was completely caught off guard by the kiss. He went completely still for a moment then touched the spot where Esme had kissed him. That cheek felt considerably warm now. It took at his self control not to kiss her back- on the lips. Because that’s what he wanted to do… kiss her. He smiled happily, realising he was not feeling the least bit shy. But what did the kiss mean? Was it simply one to show her appreciation? Did she have a crush on him?

Yay! He was joining them! Esme was happier than ever now because Olly didn't feel like he would be intruding on them. "Wonderful! I know, but you always spoke to me." She smiled at him, but then she had been smiling for the entire time. Though with his joke she was laughing again. "Crazy to imagine, but no. I'm expecting I will have a bunch soon enough though, so I am okay with that." Once she started her career and everything; she had already told him all about that.
It was good that he didn't seem to mind the kiss, going so far as to smile and touch his cheek. Esme hadn't been sure if he would like it especially seeing how shy he was. Seemed like that wasn't a problem at all. That made her the happiest yet because she really wanted to do this. "I really like you, Olly." This time she gave him a proper kiss. Juno was stupidly excited! it was her twin sister's birthday. Yes they had separate birthdays by only 15 minutes; it was the coolest thing ever. But she was so excited because this was the first birthday she would spend with her boyfriend, and she got her sister THE best present ever and she couldn't wait to give it to her.
Juno was so excited that she was literally pulling Leon through the pub to find an open table. "C'mon, Cap! We gotta find a table. OH, THERE'S ONE!" She quickly rushed over to a table with four chairs, though they wouldn't need that fourth one because it was just going to be the three of them. Juno, Leon, and Esme! What a great day!

Leon was chuckling softly as Juno legit pulled him into the pub, he wasn't even lollygagging! He was walking as fast as he could and it still didn't match her excited pace. "I'm coming Quicksilver! Just remember I don't have super speed! I'm just strong. " He said with a grin at his girlfriend!
He settled down into the seat next to Juno, his leather jacket creaking as he did so and put the present he and Az had gotten for Esme on the table as well.
"As excited I am about your sisters birthday, I'm even more excited about yours! " He said with a grin at her as he leaned down and gave a gentle kiss on the cheek. He had had help from Az and he hoped she was going to like her birthday present!
He slipped his hand into hers under the table and looked around.. "Want anything to eat or drink? Or should I wait until Esme gets here? " He asked her softly. Olly was going to be outright honest with himself. He was more confused than before about what had just happened. Many questions were running through his mind and which were not limited to: how long had Esme liked him? Why hadn’t she told him?... she was way more outgoing than he was. And… did this mean that they could date now? Alright, so maybe the last question was the most important to him.
Before he knew it, they had arrived at the Three Broomsticks. Using his free hand, he held open the door for Esme in true Hufflepuff style. “I see Juno. There she is.’’ Olly nodded in the direction in which he had spotted the other Darcy and a guy that could only be Leon. Still holding Esme’s hand, he began his way to their table, his brain and mind still reeling. Sooooo Olly wasn't saying anything back to her. Esme guessed that meant he didn't like her back because she had just told him that she had a crush on him?? Okay, she was going to try and not look disappointed right now even though she was. This was not his fault and he didn't have to return the feelings.
She nodded as he pointed out her sister, and Esme made a beeline towards Juno and Leon. "Hey, sis! Leon!" Of course Juno got a big hug because even if they saw each other all the time, this was a special occasion. It was her birthday and she was trying to think of something other than being kind of rejected. Juno looked back at Leon with an evil grin. She was faster than he was on broom and feet. But she was extra excited today because it was one of the most important days of the year to her. "That's ok. I like strong." She grinned hugely and gave him a flirty wink.
Juno smiled at the two presents side by side. She really couldn't wait for her sister to open them. Though she didn't know what Leon and Az got her sister. Juno leaned into his kiss on her cheek. She wished his lips could stay there forever. "Awe, I am glad you are and I am too. But it's hard to explain the connection that Es and I have. I have had a best friend my whole life. So her birthday is just as exciting to me as mine is. Trust me I will be even more excited for my own tomorrow." She said with a chuckle.
Juno gave Leon's hand a little squeeze as soon as he put it in hers. It was so nice to be able to hold his hand. It made her feel safe. Just as she was about to reply to Leon's question her sister and some guy that looked really familiar walked in. They were holding hands...but immediately she felt it. As soon as her sister looked at her. She brushed it off maybe it was nothing. She smiled and waved at the unexpected guy, who she was assuming was Olly, and her sister.
Letting go of Leon's hand, she stood up and threw out her arms for her sister. "Hey Es! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She said with a giggle, and immediately wrapped her arms around her sister. The closer they were the more connected, and she instantly felt what her sister was feeling. Disappointment and rejection. This guy had rejected her sister? OH, BUDDY HE WAS ON HER LIST NOW! She released her sister, and as soon as she was out of ear shot leaned over to Leon, whispering where only he could hear it, "Somethings wrong."
"You must be Olly?" Juno said as she put her hand out to shake his. "Do I know you from somewhere?" He looked so familiar. She was really trying to be cordial....even if she really wanted to punch this guy for making her sister upset. Leon grinned at Juno as she spoke and he winked back.."Good! Cause that's what I am.. and while I run.. it's more for long distance and stamina than speed. " He said as he saw her flirty grin and nearly blushed..
Gahhh.. his head felt all melty now and.. what was happening?
He managed to get his head back together as she spoke about her bond with Esme, "That sounds.. amazing. I'm glad you have the bond you two do. " He said with a smile. He hoped he would one day be able to have that sort of bond with Azura.. they were already getting close.. and he was grateful for that. Siblings were so cool!
Leon blinked as he turned and saw Esme entering with.. a boy? And they were holding hands? His eyebrows rose a bit.. uhh.. was this a recent development? Should he say congrats? Did Juno know about this?
His mind was reeling as he stood and smiled. "Hello Esme! Happy birthday! " He said with an easy grin before turning to the dark haired boy next to her. "Hey, I'm Leon Kennedy, Juno's boyfriend. " He said with a wide grin as he stuck his hand out to shake when..
Huh?
He caught Juno's whisper and his grey eyes looked confused...
Something was wrong? Olly was too caught up to have heard what Esme had asked him out on the street and even more distracted now that they were in the company of Juno and Leon. Esme received a huge hug from her sister, for which Olly had to let go of her hand. He didn’t mind though. It was nice to see sibling love except it made him miss his own sister like crazy!
“Uh, hi.’’ He smiled awkwardly at Juno and Leon. Meeting people was not his thing. “Yes, I was at Hogwarts too but I graduated a almost three years ago.’’ Would he be offended if Juno didn’t remember him? Not one bit. Olly had always been one to be in the shadows. He shook her hand heartily and tried desperately not to wince. When he took back his hand, it was throbbing. Did Juno workout or something? Ow ow ow!
“Hi, Leon.’’ Olly gingerly stuck his hand out to shake Leon’s. He wouldn’t crush his hand, yeah? “Oliver McDean but you can call me Olly.’’ Everyone did, anyway. “How’s it going?’’ And was he missing something? Why was Juno whispering to Leon? Esme was trying hard not to be sad, especially since Olly hadn't actually SAID anything to her, but it was hard not to take his non-response as rejection. She had been so sure he had a crush on her by the way he liked the kiss, but maybe that was all it was. Regardless it wasn't his fault and wouldn't change the way that she felt about him. After they had met up around Christmas she had found herself liking him more and more and wanting to be his girlfriend; something that she was sure Juno had picked up on.
BIG SISTER HUG.
"Thanks, Juno!" With a somewhat forced smile, her attention then turned to the new boyfriend. "Thank you, Leon!" It was a good thing that Esme was focused on him instead of Juno and Olly, because it really would have upset her even further if she saw His hand being squeezed hard!
Seeing Juno whispering to Leon, Esme instantly picked up on something. It was the connection that they had always shared and it made it so there really weren't any secrets between the two of them. Well, she wanted Juno to like Olly! No point in mentioning the onion incident as that might be a little awkward. Unfortunately it was probably the only way that Juno would remember him... "Olly goes to WADA now! He's studying painting and told me that I can see some of his work." Trying to make things more comfortable AND distract herself at the same time.
Esme was rather proud of herself right now. She didn't care why he ran...just so long as he ran with her. And just like that he was putty. It made Juno grin super huge. She loved that he liked her so much that he blushed whenever she looked at him a certain way. It made her feel good that she could make him blush.
She didn't know how to explain this one to him. What she and Esme had was more than just a normal sibling bond. "It is amazing. And it's more than just being close to one another...we kinda have this....extra sense." She gave him a look that said she would explain more later. It would take time to explain it to him.
Leon looked just as confused as Juno felt she shrugged and shook her head, indicating she had no idea this person was coming. But she had to be cordial.
OOPS! She realized as she was letting go of his hand that she had gripped Olly! She hadn't meant to, but she was seriously upset because her sister was upset and she couldn't help it sometimes. Then when he said he graduated a few years ago the memory struck her. "Oh, my gosh. You're the guy that dumped the onions all over Esme!" She said it with a chuckle, despite the anger in her heart.
She could sense her sister going through so many emotions right now. Saddness, worry, fear, disappointment, rejection, were just a few. She felt confusion too...but there was also a smidgen of hope...even if it was burried deep. This guy better prove to her that he wanted to be with his sister or a things were going to go south quickly.
"You're welcome, sis." She watched as Esme exchanged greatings with Leon. She was so happy Esme liked him. If she didn't approve it would be really hard for her to be with him known her sister didn't like him. But thankfully she did. Oh, and artist. Now the look made sense. He looked like a Vampire. Juno almost wanted to stake him...almost. "That's great! Why don't we all have a seat and we can decide on food or open presents!" Juno said with a wink hoping her sister would want a pick me up!
She looked over to Leon and gave him a wink that said I'll tell you later, and sat back down at the table. This was going to be an interesting afternoon.

Eyebrow raise. ”Keep talking like that, and you’re sleeping on the couch. “ Haha. Esme was full of fake anger and jokes. ”You must be seeing things from the glare of my halo. There is no halo over YOUR head.” They could keep this up all night and she would be very entertained. How fuuuun.
”Maaaaaaybe. Or it could be a combination of that and you being really attractive.” She was looking forward to what was next! In the meantime she had another forkful of Mac and cheese. It was all gone now. Pout.

Oliver pretended to be horrified. "Not the couch,'' he groaned and threw up his hands in mock surrender. "Your anger and threats have gotten into me, oh fierce little mons- I mean angel. I surrender.'' He hadn't attended WADA without picking up a few tips from the Drama section. Yes, he had often watched his friends practice for their skits and plays and he even pitched in a few times to fill in for open parts at the time.
Truth be told, Olly never thought he was attractive until Esme became his girlfriend and she made that point clear. The entire goth thing he thought was a big scare to other girls. He stood up and took a bow. "These good looks are all for you, baby. Alright, what would you like to have next?''

Smirk. The threat of making Oliver sleep on the couch had worked like a charm; it was a good thing that Esme would probably never actually make him do it; being mad at Olly like that was virtually impossible. ”Now that’s more like it! I’m the most beautiful and purest angel ever.” Not really, but she could pretend to be. This was all part of the game.
As Olly bowed, she giggled. He was just as ridiculous as her. ”And all the girls know it too.” Esme knew she had nothing to worry about and didn’t get jealous or possessive anyway. Why would she when he was trusted? ”Oooh! How about pizza!” She was going to get fat from all of this food, but it was worth it.

Oliver laughed. He knew this was all a part of the ploy since he and Esme would always fool around this much. "You are, pretty angel.'' And he inclined his head in an agreeing nod. This should be enough to save him from sleeping on the couch, yes? But underneath all the jokes, his Esme was an angel and he loved her so much. She made his heart melt.
Possessive Esme was another side to the girlfriend he loved. He found it cute how she made it known that he was all hers. "They do. Not that I'd give them a single second of my day.'' That was all reserved for Esme. Oliver didn't even look twice at any other girl.
"Pizza coming right up.'' Soon there were to slices of pizza before her topped with most of her favourite toppings.

"Oooh, now you're buttering me up with compliments on top of food. Don't stop because I love it." Esme laughed, but she really was having a good time and this made her feel so amazing and loved. She always knew that she was loved anyway, but these reminders were always wonderful regardless of that. Not that she needed or expected them all the time. She really wasn't a demanding girlfriend; at least she didn't think that she was. Not like some were at any rate.
Nod. "Of course, baby. I trust you completely." Not that she would be angry if he looked at any other girls. That kind of thing was harmless though she knew that he didn't really do it anyway. "Yay! And now you have to help me eat the pizza. I'm going to get so full soon at this rate." Beam.

Olly simply grinned once more. "Maybe I should. I've heard that compliments often get to the person's head who's receiving them. Is that true? I think you would know now if that's so.'' With that, he focused on the pizza. He had to help her eat, did he? It seemed as though Esme's stomach was finally getting filled. What a surprise! But he would gladly help her. Olly pulled up his chair beside hers.
"Gladly. Did you know cooking that much made me work up an appetite? I think it's as big as yours tonight.'' Before he took a bite, he held a slice to her mouth. Why not feed her? They could finish the slices together.

There was Olly asking the good questions. "Well, keep them coming and we will see if they get to my head or not." Esme didn't really think that would happen since she wasn't vain, but that didn't mean they couldn't try and see for themselves. Not like she would hate it if her boyfriend kept complimenting her - though she might not agree with all he said. Or even most of it.
Wide eyes and fake shock. "Now I find that hard to believe." After smirking, she took a bite of the offered pizza before holding out another slice to him. Yep, they were now feeding each other.

Oliver considered. "I think I've paid you enough compliments for tonight. Don't you think too?'' There were plenty more he could give her but he just might be saving them for another day. Enough for you, girlfriend. He arched an eyebrow. "Really? I can prove it to you that I can keep up with you.'' The young man leaned in to take a bite of the pizza. Then came another bite.
And another.
"I'll be finishing my slice before you.'' Esme could take this as a challenge or not but he was going to eat the slice in no time. Already he was halfway through. He hadn't been lying when he had told her he had worked up an appetite.

Pout. "You're being no fun, Oliver." But really Esme wasn't bothered in the slightest; something that she was sure he was more than aware of. Really it wasn't as if he couldn't compliment her other times and she wouldn't have even gotten a bigger head in the first place. Besides, they were more concerned with eating at the moment than anything else. And he really DID have quite the appetite it seemed. "I don't think I can keep up with you, baby."
Smile.
Esme had another few bites of her slice. "Well, you really did work hard. You deserve as much food as you want." Not like there wasn't plenty to go around and Esme did love to share when it came to him. "What if I get full soon? Will you eat everything?" Now that would be interesting to see.

Oliver simply smiled. "Thank you.'' Though he knew Esme wasn't being serious, he pretended to think that she was. He continued eating, enjoying everything. Being on his own for a lot of the time had helped him improve on his cooking; there had been a lot of practice involved and now it had all paid off. He imagined Esme wouldn't appreciate it if he had been a terrible cook.
"I think we'll finish most of it. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow if that happens.'' He gave her a sly look. "Unless you prefer that I eat until I burst.'' And in any case, they were almost done with the pizza. "Do you want anything else after the pizza?''

Esme shook her head and then laughed. This was exactly the way that she figured Olly would respond; she really DID know him way too well and that was a REALLY good thing; it made her very happy. Smiling, she grabbed another slice of pizza and made her way though that as well. The food was amazing, but it certainly wasn't the lightest. Pasta and pizza could be rather filling.
"Let's eat some salad and then I can watch you eat everything else until you burst." Esme stuck out her tongue. There would definitely be left overs. But that was okay, because this was the most amazing date ever.

Olly had just made up his mind that this date night was even better than them going out. Maybe the next time they could watch a movie right there in the apartment. Popcorn and fizzy would be pretty easy to secure. He made a mental note about this idea. As for now, he as serving Esme salad just the way she liked it.
"I will not burst,'' he told her as he settled back into his slices of pizza. Salad was not his thing so he was definitely skipping having that. Olly snacked down a few more slices before eyeing Esme. "Or it seems that I will.'' He patted his belly lightly. "Fine. You win." How was he supposed to get the dishes done now that he was so stuffed?

"Killjoy." Esme giggled and then dug in to her salad. Olly really should have some as well, but it was not really any surprise when he passed it up for more pizza. Well, she HAD tried to get him to eat something healthier even though he wasn't a big fan of salads. Oh well. This meant that there was more for her.
Head shake as he said he was going to burst after all. "How about we both win? Now lets clean everything up with magic and watch a movie or something?" Esme was done with her salad now and Olly really did look too full to eat anything else. She didn't want to keep eating when he wasn't in the mood to do it.

Clean up?
What in the world was this thing called 'cleaning up'?
Oliver patted his belly. "I'm too full to move,'' he groaned. But he knew he couldn't and wouldn't leave Esme to do it all. So he reached for his wand to cast incantations that got the sink, dishes and cutlery clean; the dishrag was sent to wipe down the sink and counter tops; the remaining food was neatly stacked into the fridge and finally, the dinner table was cleaned. "I think I clean up well.'' After all, Charms had been his strongest subject.
"And even though we're tied, I'll let you pick the movie even if it's a girly one.''

Olly had her grinning "Poor baby." Another giggle. But he was being such a good boyfriend and cleaning everything up before she even had a chance to contribute. Oops. At least it hadn't required a lot of effort, and once again Esme was reminded of just HOW great magic could be; it would have taken a lot longer to get everything done the muggle way. "I guess we will be having left overs for a little while now." Grin. "Expert at charms, cooking, and art among other things. You really are perfect, Olly." He was to her at least.
Annnnnnd it was movie time!
"Sounds good!" Esme led him over to the couch. "I'll be nice and not submit you to anything too girly." Not like chick flicks were her favourite anyway... "How about we watch Grease?" Because that was what she was in the mood for right now.

Really, magic was a great thing. Olly respected Muggles very much but he didn’t think he would be so good at household chores. Now the kitchen was looking so neat and tidy. "Food tastes way better when it happens to be leftover,'' he informed Esme. He smiled fondly at her. "I try and I do it only for you.'' It was very true. Esme brought out the best of him and it was another reason for him to love her as much as he did.
Grease he could live with! Oliver nodded before standing and taking her hand. "Let's go then.'' Hopefully, he wouldn't be put into a food coma. That would be a bad ending to date night. When Esme was ready, he led her to the living room.

For what felt like the millionth time, Esme wondered what she had done to be so lucky to have Olly as a boyfriend. Not only had he made her a wonderful dinner, but now they were going to watch a movie together, and it was one that she knew he wasn't as fond of as she was. But he was going to see it with her anyway.
After putting the movie on, she sat with him on the couch. Hopefully he wouldn't fall asleep right away, but it was okay if he did eventually. He must be tired from all of the work that he had put into everything tonight.
Scene 7
Esme has something big to tell Olly.
Still feeling shocked due to a recent development, Esme made her way back to the apartment that she had shared with Olly since graduation. She had just been to see Juno and... well, now she knew something that would change their lives forever.
She just needed to get over the shock of it before she could REALLY knew how she felt about everything.
That, and she needed to tell him. Obviously. Sighing, she looked around and didn't see him. Maybe he was working in his studio? Or had he gone out somewhere for a bit? Maybe he was hanging out with one of his friends, or at the store... She would see for herself in a moment. "Olly?" Hopefully he would respond.

Oliver was happily working in his studio, creating his next masterpiece. There was an Art exhibition to be held soon and he had been asked to enter a few of his pieces. The exhibitors had seen his work during shows put on by WADA and had been impressed. It was needless to say that the goth was excited. This could be the big break he was looking for; the start of his journey to becoming a famous artist like he had always wanted to. With Esme supporting him and his determination, he was certain he would succeed.
Speaking of Esme... Olly tilted his ear upon hearing her call his name. "In the studio, baby,'' he called back to her. She had been out to see Juno. Those two were still inseparable even though they had their own paths since they were out of Hogwarts. He paused, pulling his brush back from the canvas.
It was the beginning of a simple yet tasteful painting of a valley.

There he was.
It didn't surprise Esme to hear that he was in his studio; it was only natural for him to be there since he had more pieces to work on. She was so proud of Olly because he was getting more and more exposure doing art exhibitions. Soon enough he would be a big name and his work would be displayed everywhere. But she would always be his biggest fan.
As she made her way over to where he was, she began to feel really nervous. Not because she thought he would be mad or do anything bad - he loved her too much for that - but because this was scary. Esme was still wrapping her head around it, and she had to silence her impulse to just blurt it out into the open. This was something that she could do a lot and she was TRYING to get better about it. Well, he was going to be as shocked as her in a moment, but there was nothing to be done for it.
Figuring that she was not hiding her nervousness at all, she glanced at the piece he was working on before gazing at him. "Olly... we need to talk." Deep breath.

As it was, Olly's attention was already back to the painting. Yes, he did remember that Esme was on her way to the studio but his thoughts were on what colour the sky should be. "Orange-red for the sunset,'' he mused a second or two later. When that part was completed then the entire painting would be ready. It was the first of the series he planned for the show.
Oliver set down his paintbrush and brushed his dark hair out of his eyes as he turned to face Esme when she came in. "Hi, baby.'' He smiled at her though it was replaced by a frown soon afterwards. "What's wrong?'' popped out of his mouth and he crossed the remaining space between them so that he was directly before her. Her behaviour and words set off warning bells in his head.

"I-"
Esme wanted to tell Olly about why she had gone to see her sister in the first place, but found that she couldn't properly find the words. Instead she found herself hugging him when he asked her what was wrong. Her boyfriend always knew how to make her feel better, and he didn't even have to SAY anything half the time in order to do that. Now, however, she was still feeling distressed even though the contact was helping a little. She was just feeling very overwhelmed and emotional at the moment due to the shock.
Taking another deep breath, she looked at him. "I'm pregnant."

Olly reached for Esme's hand. He knew she needed time to get the words out and so this is what he gave her. He would not lie, though. His heart was now racing in his chest. It was on a positive note the he kept the negative thoughts from flowing through his mind. His main concern was his girlfriend. When she hugged him, he held her back protectively.
He could feel it; she was going to tell him anytime soon.
And she did.
Oliver felt himself go still with shock.
Those were the last words he had expected to hear.

Oliver's reaction was more or less what Esme had expected it to be, and quite similar to what her initial response had been. This was something very big and scary and she was still wrapping her head around it; he would be too, obviously. She gave his hand a small squeeze, figuring that he would have no idea how to respond to her. It was okay though. This was a lot to deal with.
"That's why I went to see my sister. I hadn't been sure... I didn't want to say anything until it was confirmed." Esme bit her lip.

Oliver felt the squeeze of his hand. Yes, he did register it but only vaguely. The shock that had come with what Esme had just told him was too much. Who expected to be told at any time at all that their girlfriend was pregnant? He just looked at her beautiful face blankly. Surely she was pranking him? Any minute now she was going to burst out into that sweet laugh of hers.
But it didn't happen.
He finally found his voice though it sort of came out like a croak. "So... so now it's confirmed?'' It wasn't as though he never wanted a child but was he ready? Was Esme?

Oliver still wasn't saying anything, and Esme was really starting to feel that he might be too shocked to. She had initially been too shocked to speak as well, so this was something that she completely understood. And she had more time to wrap her head around it than he did.
After a few moments, he did talk and it took her a moment to work out what he was saying because of the croak in his voice. Then she nodded. "Yeah... it definitely is." Esme wanted to cry because she didn't think she was ready for this.
