Wes smirked a bit, rather proud of himself for that clever little trick. Heh. See how Hit Wizard training and being aware of one's surroundings paid off? He was so good at using them to his advantage.

Anyway. "Did she?" he whispered, his eyes matching the twinkle in hers. "She's harmless around me though. I always manage to disable her 'trained killler' ways."

Harmless? She was harmless around him? Really. Wesley just hadn't done anything that had made her angry at him yet. That was probably a good thing. Isobel knew she had a temper, and she didn't really want to fight with Wesley. So not being angry at him yet, realyly was quite a positive thing. "Harmless?" She mused, grinning at him.

Isobel was not harmless. "Maybe she just hasn't had the need to do anything yet..." She smirked at him. Oh yes. We'll be watching you now. Very closely. One toe out of the line, and he wouldn't be saying that she was harmless anymore. But aww. The dip was nice. Yes, she was enjoying this dance, maybe she'd make him stay out here a bit longer.

"Only around me," Wes clarified, tilting her back up and sneaking a suave kiss off her lips. "See, I've got my ways of disabling her. I've got charm, good looks, soft lips, a studly body, you know... lots of weapons in my arsenal." Wink. He was being really corny right now but he didn't even care.

Wes raised an eyebrow at Izzy's comment though. "Hopefully she won't be stuck by that need anytime soon... I've found that she seems fond of insulting my ego, you know.... don't tell her I said that." Heh. This dancing thing wasn't so bad.

Oh? Just around him. Isobel grinned at him. What he was saying, was pretty truee. His arsenal was pretty impressive, and mostly true. "I bet you've got her right where you want her." But Isobel also had him right where she wanted him. It really worked both ways. She wasn't about to let him know that though. Everything was good for now, for once everyone in her life was very good. All of it.

"Well..." Isobel mused, smiling at him. She hoped that she didn't need to be angry at him any time soon. "You must make her very happy, I doubt she'll need to do anything." Not any time soon anyway. Iz wanted to keep Wes, rather than lose him too.

Rose followed Konrad to the dance floor. She wasn't sure if she wanted to dance at all. She wasn't the best dancer in the world and the chances of her tripping over her own feet was..a lot. Sigh.

She pulled back, feeling a little apprehensive. "Urm. Konrad? Do you really want to dance? I mean..I don't feel like..dancing." Rose said, eyeing the dance floor nervously.

"If you are worrying about what I think you are, then you should know that I will not let you fall," no matter how ridiculous they might possibly look. "I also promise not to step on your feet and not to get mad if you do," he finished with a grin, hoping that he still knew well enough how to dance. It's... been a while.

Rose looked worried when Konrad said that they would be able to manage. Anyway, since he seemed so eager to dance, Rose gave a smile and started walking towards the dance floor. This couldn't be that bad, right? Hopefully.

"Okay, then. I have a feeling that I'm going to embarrass you..better be prepared for a disaster." Rose said, turning towards him with a grin on her face.

"Right." He couldn't help but smirk at her, as she kept mumbling something about what a bad dancer she was. "Even if we do fall... which we won't, I will never feel embarrassed with you." Or at least he wouldn't care about someone else's opinion. Hehe.

"Why won't you relax?" He asked all of a sudden, grinning at her. And... just to show her that nothing bad would happen, he softly held her hand into his, raised them both above her head and helped her spin around once, careful to catch her back into his hold before she had the chance to trip or anything, which he still didn't believe to be true; that she didn't dance well, that is.

He'd called half of them on their ridiculousness more than once, although it hadn't gone further than that. The cult business had taken all their focus off of trivialities.

Her musing had sturck a different chord, however, and he wondered if she had in fact known his past before asking. By what she was saying, at least, but then it seemed personal to herself as well. He wasn't the only one with darkness following him, it seemed, and he watched her for a moment as they continued dancing. "I think it's more reality setting in, forcing us to adjust those grand plans to fit the path we're made to follow," he said. "Reason only means that we mad esome sort of mistake that we're being punished for." He knew the mistake he'd made, not reining his friend in before things had gotten where they had. Unfortunately, his own punishment had been the death of his light, and he hadn't found another.

There are a few that need to have some drama thrown at them so they will join the rest of us in antisocial land," she said with a chuckle and looked passed him at another couple dancing.

"Not all of us have been the ones to make the mistake to warrant the punishment though. Sometimes it is in fact just fate steering you on a course," she said with a shrug and bit the inside of her lip. "And at the same time if a mistake had been made you have to wonder could you really have prevented things from turning out as they had? It's not good to live in the past. You push forward and take things one at a time because what happened, happened, and you can't change it now. Always been my philosphy anyway." She looked at his profile for a moment thoughtfully wondering what had transpired to cause his problems.

Hecate stood in a corner watching her captain sit on the stage. She was proud of him, very proud of him. She gave him a little wave and waited for him to be done with the main event.

This particular confession had been eating away at him the entire time he was on the stage, and he'd been wanting to ask her about it ever since. Of course she'd said it just as he'd been called to come onstage. "I still wish you'd have just told me way back then," he said. So she'd have only told him this during her fourth or fifth year? His brain was quickly calculating exactly what was going on in his life around that time. "What about before then? During your first to third years?" Then during her sixth year... He was even going to ask about that. He knew what had happened then.

Alexander's eyes flickered downward for a split second. She was right. They could have had it all. They were headed pro, and she knew it. He knew it. Life had just...well, happened. Sometimes, he found himself wanting to blame her for not saying anything back when they were young. Had she, he liked to think he'd have at least starting thinking about other possibilities. He'd have ended up with her, and they'd have joined a pro team. Would they have even been here tonight, dancing around this ballroom floor?

"Where do you think we'd be now had we gone pro together?" he asked, pulling himself out of his inner thoughts. "Sometimes, I just can't help but think about us out there on that pitch, in our twenties and just living it up." As they danced around, a slight twinkle appeared in his eye as he imagined the possibilities. "Hecate, if you had the chance to go back just one day, would you do anything different?"

"Now, now, Potions Mistress. You better watch how you talk to me now," he said, fighting back laughter even as he talked. "You wouldn't want to get on the bad side of the British Minister of Magic, now would you?" He smirked then leaned in closer to her. "You may need him for a favor later on, after all."

Still leaned closer toward her, he laughed into her ear. "Food's looking pretty good over there," he continued, eyeing it. "What do you say?" He leaned back so as to get a good look at her then added, "It's on me."

He laughed as he straightened up and continued the walk to the buffet table. "Look at you getting all independent on me," he said, although, they both knew she'd always been able to hold her own. "I like it," he whispered.

"Just don't go get too independent on me," he said. "I do sort of have a thing for you, after all." He snaked his arm around her waist as he led her off the dance floor and toward the buffet tables.

The raised eyebrow remained as Laurie reacted to his dry comment about specifics, but other than that the expression on Dorian's face couldn't be read. He still was a bit thrown by her abrupt change regarding personal space, honestly, and it was hard to overcome when she'd merely commented then laid her head back on his shoulder. "I imagine we've had enough drama here at the Ministry to last for a while," he replied, still dancing as a distraction from everything else. "I wouldn't say most of MLE is antisocial, either. Staying internal doesn't necessarily mean one is antisocial, not when there's reason." Like himself. He wouldn't consider himself antisocial, just because he, as had been pointed out, hadn't ended up dating anyone since he'd worked there. There were circumstances, after all.

Circumstances that came to the front of his mind once again as she'd continued speaking, and his expression shuttered even more. She had to have no clue how close to home she was getting, or if she had, she was skilled in seeming like the comment hadn't had intention behind it. Not that he thought she was trying to hurt him, it was just an unfortunate side effect. "Sometimes fate seems to have a bit of cruelty behind it, if that philosophy can be believed," he said softly, gazing out at the others on the dance floor but not really focusing on any of them. "Even if one takes things one step at a time, moving forward. The past has a nasty way of reminding you it happened." He still didn't think he'd heard the last from Gabriel, after all.
