Chloe settled herself at a table in the newly remodeled cafeteria and looked around, trying to spot any sign of Asher. She still got so nervous waiting on him, despite the months that had passed, and she hoped that that never changed. She never wanted that feeling to go away. Looking down at the table, she picked up a menu and began perusing it while she awaited the appearance of her lunch date!

Asher straightened his tie and rolled his falling sleeves up again up to his elbows as he walked through the halls of the ministry. He smiled and gave a wave here and there, he had been so focused on meeting Chloe on time he walked passed the door to the cafeteria. It wasn't for another few feet he realized that he had indeed missed his exit and turned around. He stopped before the door and poked his head around the corner of the door frame. He smiled when he saw Chloe already looking intently at her menu. "That seat taken?" he asked walking into the room.

Chloe smiled up from her menu at her sexy exceedingly attractive boyfriend. She set the menu back down and folded her hands on top of it, leaning toward him with a solicitous look on her face. "No, it's not taken, but it is saved. For an incredibly good-looking, kind, smart, wonderful man who is about your height with brown hair and the most incredible eyes I've ever seen," she said quietly. Then she leaned back and crossed her legs. "And luckily for both of us, you fit that entire description. So, the seat is yours!" she said cheerily, smiling at him brightly.

"Aha." Asher said nodding his head, cocking his head to the side. "Well, good, 'cause I was going to snag that seat any ways." he smirked as he pulled the chair out from the table and sat down. "How's today been?" He asked as he picked up a menu.

He looked around the room, looking at the room he couldn't get over how much the ministry had changed in the past six months he had been here. "Wonder what's going to change next." he chuckled, he still hadn't gotten over the idea of how the Department of Ministries looked now from the time he had started.

"Today has been okay. It's looking up now, though," she said, smiling at him. She sat and watched him as he surveyed the room. "I don't know. I like the changes, though. Makes coming to work more fun, don't you think?" she asked. It certainly had made work more interesting for her. Including that little moment in the plant display with Antigone. That had been a baaaad situation. "How are you today, my love?" she asked, picking up her menu again.

"Oh, I enjoy the changes too." Asher told her as he immersed himself in the menu. "Spectacular. Maudi made some Greek breakfast like mother used to make. The bookstore held up greatly, providing me new material to read. And of course, you of all, made my day even better." He explained to her, looking up and smiling at her.

Chloe just smiled across the table at Asher as he told her about his day. Seeing Asher happy made her happy, and knowing that he had had a good day made her day even better. She reached across and squeezed his hand affectionately. "I'm glad you've had a good day. So, what do you think you're going to eat?" she asked, surveying her menu again. "I think I want the chicken marsala," she said, and then it just... appeared on the table in front of her, surprising her. "Woah!" she said, looking up at Asher with a smile.

Asher smiled, "How has your day been so far?" he asked as he flipped to the last side of the menu. "I think I'll have the spaghetti and meatballs." Asher finally decided as he laid his menu off to the side. And there the plate was, pasta and all. He smiled and took a long breath, smelling the delicious food. He looked up at Chloe, "I like these changes!" Asher exclaimed.

Chloe smiled as Asher ordered spaghetti and meatballs. She could have guessed. As she began cutting her chicken, she said, "Well, it's been alright. Started off great, and then I had Coke spilled on me in that cafe near the bookstore," and she indicated her changed outfit. "At first I didn't think any was actually spilled on my clothes, but I was wrong, so I had to run home quickly and change before work. And there are some people in my department who I'm just having a hard time getting along with these days." She took a bite of chicken and swallowed. It was delicious! Kudos to the new cafeteria! "Anyway, my day is much better now that I'm here with the person I love most," and she gave Asher a sweet smile before continuing to cut and eat her chicken.

Asher nodded his head as she spoke, he dug in on his dish, it tasted pretty good compared against Maudi's homemade food. He shook his head about the spilled Coke. "I thought you had changed clothes." He added before she continued onward. "As long as you're doing your job to it's fullest, you shouldn't need to worry about the others." Asher told her trying to give her some advice. There were some people at St. Mungos he didn't get along with, but he wasn't there to disagree, but to do his job. And that's what he did.

Chloe nodded her head. "Yes, I did, and I was kind of disappointed because that was one of my favorite outfits, too! Oh well, I'll just wear it later this week." Chloe took a couple bites of food as she listened thoughtfully to Asher. After sitting down her silverware, she smiled at him. "Unfortunately, in our department we do have to get along. We all work together a lot. It's a very cooperative department. But my department head is smart. I think she knows I don't get along well with this particular person, so hopefully I won't have to interact with him very much." Chloe looked back down at her plate, but she was full and had had enough. She took a drink of her water and looked across the table at Asher again. "It's May. Are you excited the kids will be home soon?"

"Here's the thing though Chloe. I'm not pinning this one you at all, I'm just saying what I'm thinking. I had issues similar to this at St. Mungos a few years ago. Adults need to grow up and get along while they're at work. We're here for a reason, and for you and your department is to help the school run smoothly so that the kids can get a good education." Asher told her, by stepping the whole current issue with the school. "And I know, that you've probably tried your best to make this work between you and your co-worker, just think of it for the kids." Asher suggested, maybe if somone could get that point across to the problem man the issue would be fixed. "May is coming up already?" he asked putting a hand to his hair, making sure it was flattened down from the gravitiy issues he had just been working with before he had came up to the fourth floor. "Seems like I just set them off!" He exclaimed. "Yes, it'll be right nice to have them all to myself for a while again." he smiled, he couldn't wait!

Chloe raised her eyebrows slightly at Asher. Did he think she was purposely making trouble in her department? She cleared her throat and looked down at the table before she looked up at him to respond. "Asher, I am a grown up, and I do put on a happy face and get along with him at work. But sometimes, no matter how hard you try, people's personalities just clash. I do this for the kids, and that's the biggest problem in the situation. I don't feel like this other person cares about the kids at all, only himself," she finished before picking up her napkin out of her lap and placing it on her plate. The table must have taken this as a sign that she was through, and her plate disappeared. "But it's fine. I was just making a comment on my day. I now that I have to get along with him."

Yes, good, a happy subject. "Asher, my love, May is already here," she said with a giggle. And then she saw the excitement in his eyes, and it about made her heart melt. She always loved when Asher got excited about the kids coming home. It made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. She wanted to lean across the table and give him a kiss, but she was a bit too short to pull that off effectively.

I thought I made it clear that I wasn't blaming her! Asher thought, he let it lie, not wanting to get into another head fight today. It was a beautful day and he didn't want to ruin Chloe's already messed up day any more. "Are you serious?" Asher asked as he finished the last bite of his dish. He wiped his mouth making sure that there wasn't any sauce on his face, he placed the napkin on the plate and it too dissappeared. Leaning forward he placed his elbows on the table and his chin in his hands. He shook his head slightly, "Summer is going to be here." Asher muttered, what were they going to do? Ziva had said she was interested in going to Florida with Pierre when they went. But Maudi suggested taking Ziva for a week to Russia to see the boys. Asher sighed, he didn't know what was going to happen that summer.

There was a small bit of pride in herself as she realized she FINALLY beat Asher in a disagreement. Usually, she just submitted and allowed him to win, but this time, she was triumphant! They were so perfect for each other.

And then she laughed at his disbelief. "Yes love, I'm serious. It's May and the kids will be out in just a few weeks. Do you have anything special planned for them?" she asked him curiously. She and Asher had never discussed what would happen during the summer. Naturally, he would want to spend as much time with the kids. And she knew they did travel quite a bit, so Asher might be gone for awhile. Plus, Chloe wanted to see the kids, too. She hadn't seen them since the holidays, and she missed them, and she missed seeing the way Asher smiled when they were around.

May! May was already here? "Well." Asher stated leaning back in his chair. "I as of now, have no idea." he told her, but then again, he was to busy worrying over the kids at school than what their summer happenings were to include. Plus, the Planet Room was working him hard too. "I think Maudi may take Ziva for a week to Russia." Asher told her, that was about all the planning he had done.

Chloe tilted her head in consideration. What she would give to spend a week alone with Asher somewhere. But that was uh not the topic of conversation at the moment. She gave her head a little toss and smiled across the table at him. "Well, that will be nice. Ziva getting to spend some time with Maudi. I mean, they're teenagers. They're just happy to not have to open a book for the summer right?" she said with a bit of a laugh.

"That's just one week out the entire holiday. And I've got the other two to worry about too." Asher told her. His face grew concerned as he thought of Corbin and Devon. Corbin had kept him updated quite often, but Devon had only sent three or four letters the entire school term. He gritted his teeth, he was probably going through that rebellion stage that Asher himself had gone through during his sixth year.

Chloe thought carefully about it for a moment. What had she done during the summer holidays? Mostly she had just spent time doing... whatever. She smiled at him and shrugged a little. "They're teenagers. I'm sure they'll find some way to entertain themselves. I always did. Didn't you?" And then her smile faded slightly as she noticed the worry etched on Asher's face. "What's wrong, my love?"

Asher nodde his head, "Yes, and the neighbors' kids should be pleased to see them again." he smiled, he thought of the same neighbors that he grew up with and walked rode the few miles on horse to their house to play with them when they were young. Then, when they were old enough, they were allowed to fly their brooms. "Devon is going through that rebelling stage I think." Asher told her. "Though I'm not too terribly concerned, I went through the same stage where I wouldn't write home." he confessed, he just hoped he wasn't thinking anything negative about why his parents had desserted him also.

Chloe placed her elbow on the table and leaned her head on her hand as she listened to Asher talk. He said something about how he went through a rebellious stage, and she smiled at him, "And look how great you turned out! Though, admittedly I might have liked to see a little rebel in you, see you push the boundaries, be a little bad," she said in a bit of a hushed voice, eyes narrowing flirtatiously. And then she just giggled and sat back in her chair again. "I wouldn't worry about it too much. That's normal, especially for boys, to feel the need to assert their independence."

Asher smiled, if only she knew. He laughed loudly, suprising himself at how loud his laughing was. "If only you had seen me back then." Asher told her. "I was one crazy kid, especially when I was at home." Asher laughed. He remembered bothering his mother so much that her herself sent him over to the neighbor's house. "I think he's going through the stage that Corbin went though. Trying to figure out why his parents abandoned him." Asher explained, "Though, I'm not too worried, he's held up good through the years, I've pratically raised him like a child of mine from nineteen." Asher told her, he wasn't sure if he had explained Devon's situation before now or not.

Chloe giggled when Asher laughed. She would like to see the crazy side of Asher sometime. Just once. Or twice. But then she frowned a bit. The poor kid. She reached across the table and laid a hand on Asher's arm. "It's not his fault, and I'm sure that one day he'll realize that and be so thankful for all you've done for him." Giving him a hopeful smile, she allowed her hand to remain. His arm was warm. And her hand was freeeeeezing.

Asher nodded his head, "I don't doubt one bit that they're all thankful." Asher told her, not trying to sound cocky, "Every day they're home they tell me at least twice a day they love me and thank me for what I've done." Asher told her, he looked down at the table, he seemed to want to cry now, something Asher rarely ever did. "I wish I could provide answers to Devon." he paused, "Even to Ziva and Corbin, but, sometimes the unknown is better unknown." Asher muttered out to the table.
