On one end of the department you can find the work areas for MLES, Aurors and Security employees. Most don't spend too much time at their desks as they are likely out on assignment and even patrol duty. Each of the division's heads have an office with a door that they can close so they can be uninterrupted. If you do not see who it is you are looking for, seek assistance from the reception desk.

During major investigations the area is flooded with employees and perhaps even witnesses who have been brought in to wait. On one wall there are many pictures and documents pinned to it with those of current in the process investigations. Another wall and above many of the desks are moving posters of the most wanted criminals of the Wizarding World. When they are caught they are magically marked with a large red X.

Every Auror, Hit Wizard and MLES Officer has their own desk here. It's slightly different for the Security employees. The Head of Security, the Event Security Liaison Officers, and the Internal Investigations Liaisons have their own permanent desks, while the Ministry Sentinels, Security Officers and Wand Weighers work between this office and the Security post in the atrium, and do not have a personal desk of their own.

Please be aware of your surroundings in this area. No one likes a snoop. Or you just might find yourself in question if items go missing!

On the opposite end of the department is an even larger work area with wide open spaces and lots of what looks like natural light. The windows have a beautiful view that changes from time to time, as it is charmed to look the way it is. There are the divisions in separate areas but not too far of a distance from one another. A table or two with a few chairs around them also is throughout this end of the department.

Each of the division's heads have an office with a door that they can close so they can be uninterrupted. Every member of the MMAO, CMEC, and IUMO have their own permanent desks. However the Wizengamot are based here but spend much of their time down in the courtrooms. However, they each have their own secure locker and you may on occasion find one or two of them working at a spare desk or going through a stack of court files and case histories.

The Forensics lab, a large storage room, The Evidence and Pensieve rooms, as well as the direct floo access aren't all too far from here. However, the conference room, Department head's office are a bit more of a walk. Make sure to keep a map on hand in case you lose your way the first few times in this department. It's been known people have wandered in and not seen for a few days. But they could have been just enjoying the scenery at the window or grabbing a hot cup of coffee from the instant coffee station.

Alexa's gaze trailed lazily from the girls to one of her favourite pains in the butt around the office. For as much as she missed the gorgeous atrocity that was Aron Ashburry-Hawthorne, she still managed to crack a smile at his comment of her being a glorified babysitter. You could call her whatever you wanted if it meant excuses to take trips over to Level 3--fashion Auror though? "Not on your life, Hollingberry. I'm here to be educational. Gotta prepare this lot for the big world supposedly." Except not really. She hadn't signed up to be a babysitter and had no intention of taking on such a role.

She looked to the girls again at first Noelle's response then the Ava girl's. "Yeah, you could say that." Something more in line with her dress would have worked fine. They weren't necessarily suits and jackets types on this Level. That was left to the boring blokes on Level 1 and 5. "But whatever you're comfy in." Because it was unlikely they'd be getting up to much. Training maybe, in which case they'd wish they dressed differently but this one was comfy.

Lex took another sip of her coffee, watching the others naturally gravitate closer. It was to be expected. MLE liked to investigate new things. It kept their skills sharp..

"You'll spoil the surprise if you keep spilling that pessimism, Kennedy." Merlin of course they wouldn't be outing anyone, didn't mean they couldn't have a little fun before they got assigned.

Simon's suggestion got the faintest quirk of her lips. It wasn't, in truth, a bad idea. It'd be something to do. She remembered having a patrol or two with him when she was a YATI. "They'd have the most darling time with you. Could take 'em down to the courtroom, let 'em see what happens when they decide to be on the other side of the law--field trip to the holding cells too." They could do that, yeah?

Ah and there was Penelope. Lex was still getting used to the young woman being pregnant again for the sole reason that she couldn't fathom why anyone would want one kid, much less another. Don't get her wrong, she adored Emmerson.......she still didn't think having kids was great and wouldn't be quite so unlucky again. The Auror nearly snickered at her statement but managed a straight face, hiding an amused smile beneath her cup. "I've got some expired arrest warrants. We could split the interns, have 'em split the load."

The intro, did very little for the Auror. It was quite clear they'd be interning as they were certainly not new YATIs. They didn't take in new ones at this time of the year, let alone two. "Are you alright?" She asked, as an afterthought. Noelle had been growing increasingly red and it would have been rotten luck to be sick on your first day. She would save the 'nice to meet you's until she was sure it was. The young woman had always hated wasting such a compliment in the event it turned out to be quite the opposite.

Oi! Leon was here too!

Noelle's blushy smile flashed to him as he said hello. She had known from Az that he was in the YATi program, but she didn't think she'd be seeing him here. It was brilliant that he was here. Someone else that she knew.

But back to Alexa. Cambridge.

Noelle was looking at her now. Taking in what she was saying. She was conversing between others in the office. She didn't catch their names because. ALEXA CAMBRIDGE. Did she imagine that she would see her on the first day of the internship? Not in a million years. Did she even know what was going to happen at this internship? Not a clue.

But Alexa. Cambridge.

What were they saying? Interrogating criminals? Would they get to watch that??? merlin's beard! This was like a dream come true. And to see ALEXA CAMBRIDGE in action!

But Alexa. Cambridge.

Oi. She was speaking DIRECTLY to her now. "Oh, Im fine... youre just.. You saved my life." Did she remember? Probably not. She hadn't looked too thrilled in Noelle's memory of her. She shuffled a bit and moved her hair to the side to show her shoulder. There was a goblin bite mark edged into her skin. A reminder. It had looked a lot worse back then though. Maybe it would trigger a memory.

Anyways... Ava was introducing herself. "Oh. And i'm Noelle Grace Summers." She added after Ava.

Juno was ridiculously excited but she remained as serious as possible. She really wanted to make a good impression, especially since she would hopefully be starting the YATI program soon.

Juno walked down the hallway and entered Level 2. Ava and Noelle had already beat her here. Juno had to make a pit stop to make sure she was looking fresh. Someone else that was very important was supposed to be here waiting for her as well and she couldn't wait to see him. Even if she had already seen him that morning. No one else had to know.

She walked in, boots stomping, seeing all the faces she expected to see. She flashed a brilliant smile. "Hey Ava and Noelle!" She said walking past them and heading straight toward Leon, stopping just a few inches away from him. With the most serious voice and face she could muster, "Hello, Leon Kennedy, First Year YATI." She pressed her lips together trying not to smile.

Leon smile as more of his co-workers showed up and he had to smother a smile as Alexa Cambridge spoke. "Oops, sorry I'll try to be more positive from now on. " he said with a head nod towards her. "Really those are bad shoes to go chasing people in. "

He looked at Ava as she introduced herself and nodded, he had been at Hogwarts with her, but they didn't interact much at all. Different years and houses and all that. He only knew Noelle cause of his sister.

He flashed a smile at Noelle as she grinned at him, but she rather taken with Alexa, so the nineteen year old leaned back a bit until he saw someone else come in the room, the someone he had been waiting for.

Yeah he had seen her this morning, but to see her here! Where he worked, where she hopefully would work soon as well, it made his heart pound a big.. especially as she came up close to him and spoke.

He tried to hide his smile as he looked down at her with serious grey eyes.

Juno kept her composure, really trying not to smile at all, but she just couldn't help it. Anytime she was near him her smile was automatic. She stamped her boot. "Dang it you win." She grinned hugely at her handsome fiancé.

She didn't care who saw them, but she knew they had to stay as professional as possible. So no hugging or kissing of any sort! Though she did manage to play with the fingers of his right hand with the fingers of her left hand, hoping people would manage to see the gorgeous ring on her finger.

She smiled up at him, and all she wanted to do was kiss him, but she would save that for later. "How has your day been so far?" Hers had been pretty awesome! She hadn't been to the office with her dad in a really long time so it was really cool for her to get to see it again.

Leon was quick to grin as Juno stomped her foot and he winked at her. "Well the Auror training has to come in sometimes. " He said with a bit of a smirk, though if he was honest he was about to smile, but she cracked first. Though having his coworkers around as well as the interns stopped him from what he really wanted to do..

Anyways..

He squeezed back one of her fingers and smiled in return. "It's been good, even better now that you are here. " He said with a wink.

Ah yes, Aurora had finally made her way to the CMEC working area. This was most certainly going to be interesting. While the woman had worked for the Ministry back in Italy a little bit ago before coming back to England, she never actually worked for this Ministry. And prior to this, the job she had held in London was in the City of London Police Department as a Personal Detective. Although it was a muggle job, she did get away with some divination magic to help on some particularly tough cases. However, she obviously only did it when no one was looking. Most of the time, when she did use divination, it was when she was off the clock at her own home to be even more safe. Although there was this one time when she did a quick spell on the down low without the use of her wand or an incantation, so it was covert, and it wasn't picked up on, thankfully. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to work here, and Aurora would be in a lot of trouble with the Ministry.

Either way, upon arrival, it appeared as if he division work area was...dead...? How odd. She would definitely have to check out the notice board after setting her desk up to see if their were any field jobs going on right now. If there were, she would certainly divulge into taking one, or a couple...or maybe more than that...buuuuuut....desk set up came first.

Finding an empty and comfortable work area, Aurora had begun the process of setting everything up for herself.

Heading to the CMEC area Gid wanted to check in on one of his new employees. He knew that it was a bit slow lately but really had a good feeling about the two he'd hired. After his morning with the report from Lexi and the issues around that, he was grateful for some normality. "Good morning" he said as he approached the young woman who had found an empty desk area. "I see you have found a spot. I hope everyone's been kind."

Hopefully, it wasn't going to be paperwork and she'd be able to go do some things right away. But, if it was paperwork that had to be done, then so be it. It was the perfect time to practice some more voiceless and wandless magic. The more capable of doing both of these things, the easier it was for a plethora of handy techniques for situations like in the presence of muggles, stealth, or if her wand were to ever be taken from her possession.

He smiled back at her and dipped his head slightly in a nod. "Absolutely you can head over there anytime you'd like. Anyone's welcome to use the training rooms and anything on this level. Quite often I do trainings and set up stuff for people to use as well." It wasn't often the room was empty, but it had been busy until the last day or so. He was willing to bet a number had taken some time to enjoy the quiet.

With the kids off back at Hogwarts hopefully it would quiet down even more leading up to the holidays.

Tempest was happy to be back at work. Honestly she loved working, more than most things.. That and her inability to relax equaled a drive that kept her super focused on work almost constantly. The only thing that really ever pulled her away was her dog, Chewie.. Well that and Rod. He was very.. distracting.

Anyway she'd grabbed her usual coffee from another level of course, having used Alexa's tip from when she'd first started and she parked herself at her desk.. She had case files to go over. There was sure to be something in one of these files that could give her a lead on what to do today.

The pensieve room was further back but instead of being in there , Kevin spend his time sitting on the edge of some random person's desk. Whoever sat there wasn't here yet though so he figured it was okay. He had a cup of coffee, milk no sugar, in his hand that he had gotten at the atrium and he occasionally blew on it and then sipped the coffee when it cooled down a bit.

At the moment he had not received any memories of crimes committed and he knew it was bad to think so but he secretly wished the alarm would ring. A murder would be nice. That be interesting to analyse. He was getting tired of the petty crimes.

Spotting another employee with folders in her hand, the young man jumped off of the desk and swaggered his way towards hers. "Anything interesting?" he asked as he took a sip of his coffee again.

A murder perhaps?

Another day, another visit to the office. Well one of the offices under his disposal. Simon had been flitting between Level 2 and the atrium security office for the last few days a bit more than usual. Had to keep an eye on things even though he trusted his division to keep the wheels turning even when he wasn't looking over things. More time to be the silent watcher he tended to like to be in the long run. The one that didn't necessarily raise suspicions for those who might become alert if they were doing something wrong.

Not that he liked to think of ministry workers doing wrong.

Slipping over to his desk, he released the ward and sat down. The paperwork never fully seemed to go down but that hadn't changed since his days as a YATI . Simon grabbed the first file and began flipping through the first few pages, his eyes reading intently and steadily to see what if anything needed to happen to the situation in question.

Benzi rubbed his shoulders, hunched over the paperwork on his desk. This case was starting to get to him, and people were likely taking notice. Long hours, less Emma stories, more brooding looks and naps in the gym. The only thing separating himself and filing this case away as closed and successfully solved, is his imagination. And Benzi, twenty seven years old and seasoned in creatively catching bad guys, was determined to close this case.

Deciding it was time for some more coffee, Benzi went ahead and made himself some, returning to find a Bennett who hadn't been there earlier. Allowing the cup to smoothly hover in the air next to him, Benz nodded down at their longtime head of security. "Simon, alright?" Good to keep up friendly relations with the people of the department. You never know when you need a favour.

Also... Benzi dearly needed friends. Even work friends. And... he'd promised his six year old daughter - who apparently was already the life of the party, Merlin help him - he'd try to be a little friendlier at work. Since there's no harm in fulfilling this promise, Benzi had made the decision to try and engage in small talk. ... Wish him luck.

He had noticed the man approach, him and his floating cup, it would have been unnatural for him not to. As was the knowing of who the younger man was…a one Benzi Rider from Alexa’s division from the other side of the office. “Yes…that would be me,” the security man answered, pulling the bulk of his attention away from the paper before him and looking up at the auror. Simon leaning back slightly in his chair so it wasn’t a sharp ascent.

“What can I do for you, Benzi?” he asked politely, curious as to the reason for the approach. Simon was friendly enough, but not everyone was willing to randomly approach him. Perhaps it was his job title which he knew some looked down upon over the years. Or his long-standing status within the department as one of the longest if not the ultimate longest resident of Level Two. A fact that was matched as one of the older staff members.

Alright, first downside to this: he had to pull people from their work. Or, he had at this very moment. And usually, the DMLE's work is important, time sensitive and requires some deep thought. Pulling people from their work was a big no-no, and honestly if someone had stopped him from trying to decipher those wards last week he'd have punched them in the face.

Well... hopefully not. But it's very easy to assume he would have liked to. His tendency to punch people over annoyances had mellowed out over the years - a good gym technique and some focused therapy will do anger management issues wonders - but he was still very capable of it all the same.

"Oh, nothing. Just catching up." He is never listening to his six year old ever again. What bad advice. She's SIX, she should clearly know better by now. What were they teaching her at that study group anyway?

Ah…small talk.

Not the easiest thing to do, especially when one didn’t spend time outside of the job together. Or on the job that much either since Simon had long since strattling the line between auror and security man. Too much responsibility to spend a lot of time helping out with the more exciting cases outside the office. His companion seemed to be struggling while also being the one to start the ball rolling so Simon felt like he should give a dog a bone sort of speak.

“Well then…how is everything?” he asked, hoping to break the ice with a topic that could be taken various ways. It would be up to Benzi to chose if it was more professional or personal. Or perhaps a mix of both. Whichever the younger man might feel more comfortable with. So it didn't seem like Simon was the type to bite.

Urgent note to self: never do this again. Ever.

Benzi paused, and looked around the room as if an Auror present could save him from his own choices. "Busy, as usual, you know how it is," eventually he replied, managing a smile as he sipped from his coffee, plucking the cup from midair. Far too busy, in fact, to have time for small talk.

But then again, he was all out of ideas. Maybe a weird, small talking talk with the head of security would get those creative juices flowing again. He needed to lay a magical bear trap for his guy, and perhaps Bennett was his ticket do doing that. ... Absurdly enough, Benzi's first thought was his daughter's dance recital.

Another urgent note to self: criminals and Emma should never belong in the same train of thought. Do better.

The security head watched as the younger man looked around, curiously wondering the cause of such a gesture. Was he waiting for someone? Afraid of getting caught not actually working? Looking for a signal? If Legend was still in the office, he might have been concerned about being punked with Rider’s help but he usually didn’t have to worry about that without his former housemate being involved. Not even any of the Carters had deemed it necessary to give him a hard time in the office. Yet in the case of Ronan.

“Indeed…” he said with a nod. He did in fact know and understand being kept busy by his life. “The job…and family, will certainly keep you on your toes.” Simon seemed to have found a happy medium of both since he didn’t want to burn himself out nor ignore one over the sake of the other. He’d never forgive himself in the case of ignoring Angelina and their kids. It wasn’t like they hadn’t already been part of the reason he had settled in security rather than returning fully to his position as auror.

Well only Angelina at the time…but still.

Zipping and zapping it's way down from level nine, the silvery and ethereal roadrunner leaped through walls and dashed unnecessarily around obstacles until it found itself in the work areas. Performing a few more flighty acrobatics and circumnavigating some desks just because it could, the patronus eventually settled on one of the desks as the voice from one Airey Flamsteed boomed forth.

"AURORS! SECURITY! THERE HAS BEEN A BREACH AND I HAVE CAPTURED AN IMPOSTOR INFILTRATING MY OFFICE AND IS STEALING SENSITIVE AND VITAL MATERIALS. IMMEDIATE ACTION. LEVEL NINE. NOW!"

Dramatic? But of course. Airey Flamsteed had never truly been one to do things calmly. Particularly when the safety of his precious pet rock was concerned.

And then, after a few more spirited circles upon the desk, the roadrunner dissipated into the air.

She’d only just sat back at her desk after some time over in interrogation, decidingly in need of a moment to decompress. Lex hadn’t hit the bloke. She hadn’t hexed his face off. He was still in possession of all his limbs. Unfortunately. The Head Auror sank into her seat, fingers at her temple. Just needed a breathe—

Huh?

By the time the message got to intruder, Lex was already out of her seat. As a necessity, she waited for the message to end before hurrying from the work area. Anyone free was more than welcome to come with her. Airey said the intruder was already contained but you never really knew.

Level 9 was a sensitive one. In the wrong hands, the information found there could spell serious trouble for the Wizarding world.

There was no time to waste. At no point did she stop to think that this was the overly dramatic professor she used to see daily. No. The patronus said all the trigger words that would make anyone in MLE spring into action on pure instinct and reflex. There was simply no TIME to think about it.

There may have been something or nothing causing Benji’s attention to flit around the room, but soon enough there was something to catch Simon’s causing the security man to bolt straight up in his chair even before the patronus began speaking. Level 9…department of mysteries, the voice of one Airey Flamsteed yelled as Simon got to his feet, doublechecking his wand in its holster within reach. Now was certainly no longer the time for small talk.

“Now means now after all,” the security head remarked as he headed out of the office with Lex, figuring the auror to be right behind them.

If Benzi had been younger, and perhaps even if just a little less tired from his current workload, he'd have fist!bumped the head of security over that shared sentiment. Benzi marveled at how people managed to have time to keep their jobs and be their for the families. Bouncing between being an auror and Emma was hard enough.

He was just about to reiterate his thoughts when the silver light of an approaching patronus caught the corner of his eye and all those thoughts melted away in an instant. That.. was Flamsteed's patronus. Level Nine. His least favourite. Whenever things went wrong down there, Benzi knew it was exponentially worse than any other department.

Plus it was Airey Flamsteed, former professor and generally a very energetic presence, which automatically made everything more dramatic.

Brown eyes widened as the roadrunner spoke, glancing quickly at Bennett to check that he was hearing this too. Was this a breach? Again? They'd checked the bloody perimeters dozens of times. Guess they'd know soon enough. Within five seconds of Flamsteed's words, Benzi had disappeared behind his coworkers, heading down to Mysteries.
