The main work areas is a large, open office, with dividers and desk clusters providing some semblance of order to the chaos. The room is carpeted in a soft green throughout, with several Persian rugs and plushy carpets scattered here and there for colour and focus. When you walk in through the main doors coming from the reception and foyer area, there is a waiting area to one side. If you have visitors they are welcome to sit here, or employees may take a coffee break in this corner. There are plenty of magazines provided, most of them are related to the work we do in the department of course --Achievement in Charming, Transfiguration Today, The Potioneer's Gazette, The Daily Prophet-- There is also a watercooler and right next to that, a fish tank with some tropical fish within it.
Directly to your left you'll find a table which forms the center point for part of the Office of Misinformation, in particular the Obliviators and Reminisciators desks. These employees are in and out constantly, so it makes sense they have a nook close to the door doesn't it? In front of you is a magical photocopier, running entirely on enchantments, and behind that you'll find the rest of Division one's Office of Misinformation Employees (Memory Restoration and Retrieval Bureau and Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee), along with the Invisibility Task Force of Division three, tucked away in the corner where they can get some serious work and planning done without too much interruption.
You did notice the door didn't you? That leads through to the internal corridor, from which the conference room, the breakroom, the bathrooms, the lab, and the training and trial room can all be accessed.
In the far corner you'll see those busy employees who make up the Spell Reversal Agency and Potion Accident Response Team of Division two's Accidental Magic reversal squad, if they happen to be in. They have the smallest desks since they spend just as much time outside of the office or in the lab or training room as they do at their desks, if not more.
Finally, tucked away around the corner from the inner corridor, right next to the conference room, you'll find the members of the Experimental Charms Committee, both Research and Development and Spell Registry folk have plenty of desk space here since their work is as much about the planning as it is about the doing. They might be down the hall in the training and trial room however, so be sure to head down that way if you're looking for someone in particular and they don't seem to be around.
The entire space flows well, and is clearly well thought out in regard to which divisions are located in proximity to one another, but it is also tastefully decorated with a few low maintenance plants here and there, and a muted and professional decor. There are plenty of protective charms in this work area, to ensure that the furniture won't be damaged or spoiled by experiments and the like. Above your heads there is a steady flow of ministry interdepartmental memos, purple coloured paper airplanes darting here and there. If its for you it will land on your desk, so don't bother trying to catch them, they're much too high to simply pluck them out of the air.

All level 3 employees have a desk here (except the Department Head) and everyone is welcome to make their own RPs here. What's your character up to? What are they investigating? There's always work to do, make something fun up and see who you can get involved! Your own dramas are welcome too, so feel free to work on personal plots and RPs in here, though be aware that Aron won't much appreciate it if your work is interrupted .
Other Ministry employees can come and play in here too! After all, Level 3 is perhaps the one department that has business with every other department in the British Ministry.

Levi had caused an absolute stink this morning and therefore Eliora was in the foulest of moods as she stormed into the offices this morning. Immediately, she slammed the first of her coffee cups down on her desk and let the others follow suit, the charms placed on them putting them on her desk gentler than she herself had. The liquid splashed over her desk, which caused a frustrated sigh from the blonde.
She used her wand to clean up the mess and sank down in her chair, staring the pile of paperwork she had to deal with down.

Maddox stretched lazily as he entered the work area. He had to have a discussion with a certain employee who'd been "working" within the department for several months but later looks at the filing cabinet--so his secretary's discovery and not his own--revealed the bloke didn't...actually....well....he'd never been hired.
Funny how something like that could slip through the cracks. Some may have called it careless management or even negligence but those were such strong words and it wasn't as if any real harm had been done--that he knew of.
The Department Head looked from cubicle to cubicle; why would he memorize where the bloke sat?
Exactly.
No, but really, was he even at work today? Not that he SHOULD be but he needed to be so Maddox could fire him despite him not technically being employed. Work was a lot of sometimes.

Reports had to be written and Megan was not particularly in the mood to have this completed. Sighing in frustration, she grabbed the paper she had been scribbling on, crumpled it up and threw it neatly into the wastepaper basket she had strategically placed on the opposite end of the cubicle.
"She shoots, she scores!'' she cheered for herself a little too loudly.
"Woops. Sorry, guys!'' she called to her colleagues and poked her head out of the cubicle. "Oh hey, bossman!''

Was he in any way concerned about his employees playing basket games? Eh. No. That was a lot of work. He didn’t care. Megan in particular was good at her job, and if it got done by the time he actually needed it done, well, a boss couldn’t ask for more. Maddox waved her off lightly, indicating an apology was not required.
He’d been about to continue on until it hit him that she might know just who he was looking for. The animagus turned gracefully on his heels, leaning against the wall of her cubicle.
“Just a curious question here. You wouldn’t happen to know where the bloke who sits at the desk all the way at the end of this row is, would you?”
His tone was casual, almost lazy as it always was, despite his growing concern. This man, whoever he was, had infiltrated the level and learned how it operated. This was no level 9 but it still wasn’t a very good idea to have unauthorised personnel at a desk making decisions and taking action on behalf of the department.
Something told him it wouldn’t well.

Oh interest PEAKED!
Eliora's head poked up over the separation of her cubicle and grinned. "The hot one? With the squishable bum?" The one she'd been wattttttttching on a daily basis and maybe pining after.
To get herself comfortable, she clambered up onto her desk and over onto someone elses so she could be part of this bum squishable conversation.
"You should see if he'll take me on a date, Maddy. Get sooooooome people off my back about not really dating you." Heheheh.
HEHEHHE.
Oh look there was coffee on this persons desk! CLAIMED.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Maddox was never particularly bothered by her high energy level and her playfulness which was fine with Megan. Those two traits went well when she needed to work; it motivated her to. Right now, she needed all the motivation because report writing was terrible. She was more of an action kind of woman.
The blonde’s head turned towards the far end of the row. She already knew who the boss was referring to. Now she turned at the sound of Eliora’s voice and watched as the woman positioned herself on a desk. Megan rolled her eyes but it was done in an amused way. Eliora was quite the interesting character.
Squishable bum though? She wouldn’t know since she played for the other team.
“Haven’t seen him in a while,’’ the PART officer responded and trying to throw a wad of scrap paper into the coffee Eliora had so graciously claimed. Who knew whose coffee that was? It wasn’t sanitary! “Been wondering where he was. Sick leave? But I mean, wouldn’t you know, boss man?’'
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
In all honesty, the man had been waiting for the moment Eliora would insert herself into the conversation. If there was something going on around the office, she was most likely to know about it—and be spreading it along the gossip vine. Yes. Surely if there was someone here that shouldn’t have been here, she would notice.
And there it was.....the hot one with the squishable bum....right.
Maddox’s mouth hung slightly open, not sure if it was better to confirm or just...brush pass such a description. “Right. Yes.” He said, clearing his throat in awkward fashion. “Of course, they’d be just as likely to stop assuming we were dating if you stopped telling them as much.” But he wouldn’t hold his breath on that one. Eliora’s office gossip was as wild as her personality.
Rather than...er....stir the pot further, the man turned his sapphire eyes to Megan. A while? “How long of a while? I saw him last Friday but...not since.” He’d honestly been hoping for something more recent. “Sick leave, of course.” Or, y’know, unemployed, same thing. “But let’s say his leave wasn’t approved and go from there. Notice anything strange going on at that desk?”
SPOILER!!: ahem
Sooooooo level 3 was infiltrated. If your charries were paying attention they’d notice the guy was fidgety, always had large stacks of files, super secretive, never talked to anyone and if they paid extra close attention they’d notice a tattoo just so covered by the collar of his shirt.

Megan could tell that Maddox was a little thrown off by the squishable bum thing. The whole thing with him and Eliora was funny and Megan fought the urge to laugh.
Ahem.
Right. What were they talking about again?
Oh yeah. That guy.
The blond shrugged. “I was in the field all day on Friday so I didn’t really notice.’’ The man hadn’t been on the PART officers’ team, right? ''Besides him being a complete weirdo?’’ Sorry, Eliora. “Tried talking to him more than once. He barely spoke back. Just wanted to be left alone it seemed so I gave up after a while. And his desk was chaos! I mean, there are files all over. Barely any place to stash a coffee mug.’'
Man, it had been a long time since Bear had been in this office... He had been on an extended sabbatical teaching a linguistics course at his alma mater, the University of Edinburgh. He had just barely started working at the Ministry when the University had asked him to come back. The professor who normally taught the class had decided to leave unexpectedly, and they needed someone on short notice... And, well, he had -- ahem -- been the top linguistics student of his graduating class, after all. Anyway, he had been lucky to have such understanding superiors at the Ministry -- the job did pertain to his job at the Ministry, anyway. At least, kind of. They had hired him because of his excellence in Charms and linguistics, so it was sort of... professional development.
ANYWAY. Point is, it had been a while. He stood outside the entrance, adjusted his collar nervously, and began to overthink gloriously, as was his custom. What if nobody remembers me? What if they do remember me and they thought I got fired and now they're going to wonder why I'm here? No, what if they do remember me, but they thought I DIED? Am I going to frighten people? Like they'll think I'm some sort of zombie or something? No, that's ridiculous. Or is it?!?! Oh, man. Are they going to remember my name? Am I going to remember theirs?! Am I going to have to pretend like I remember until I hear someone else say their names? Oh, I know. I can take them one by one to a coffee shop and let the barista ask for their names... Oh no... Are they going to call me Theodore?!
Through the door, he heard someone say something about a man being a total weirdo. WAIT. Were they talking about him? Had word got round that today was his first day back, and they were gossiping before he came in? Did they think he was a complete weirdo?!?!?! Had he done something weird before he left? Probably, but he couldn't remember! Well, he remembered that some of the employees called him Theodore, and he couldn't help but grimace involuntarily each time, which was kind of weird. But he had a hard time correcting people! Especially when, you know, Theodore was his given name. It just was a sucky one is all.
Okay, okay, he told himself. Can't put it off any longer or I'll be late. Gotta just suck it up and go in, dude!
He pulled on his collar one last time and entered the room a bit cautiously, trying not to draw too much attention to himself.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
You know what? The negligent Department Head didn't feel so bad when his employee said she also didn't know much about the guy and hadn't really spoken to him. People probably snuck into buildings all the time unnoticed. They weren't exactly a mom and pop, they were an entire department. People came in and out on the daily.
Resigned to the fact he would be getting nowhere by asking the others that worked in this area, Maddox decided he'd head back to his office to regroup and come up with a new strategy.
Until she said that.
Desk full of files and papers? "What kind of files?" Pay no attention to the way his voice seemed to rise by a pitch or three. He was just, ahem, concerned. Instinctively, blue eyes darted back to the desk in question. It was empty now. Whatever the bloke had been looking for, he'd clearly found it.
His lips parted to ask further question when the door to the Main Office area opened. Everything in him prayed it would be the guy in question but no, just another employee that was actually meant to be there. One back from an extended break if he'd been reading right.
Sigh. This was gonna turn into a disaster soon and he didn't even wanna have to think about cleaning THAT up.

“The bloke” wasn’t aware he’d drawn so much attention to himself. He only needed a few more things then he would be out of this place. Everything he’d so far uncovered was transferred but there was...just...one thing—a crowd in the work area.
Immediately suspicious, he looked to his desk. The boss was focusing in on it and from what little he’d gleamed, they were looking for someone.
Not wanting to take any chances, the figure that had just entered the room, quickly darted back out. He would head for the lifts and hope to get lost in the building.
Whew. Okay, nobody had screamed or anything. Guess they hadn't thought Bear was dead. That was a relief. In fact, nobody had really acknowledged him much at all. He breathed a sigh of relief when he felt the breeze of a door beginning to swing shut at his back and caught a glimpse of someone rushing away, seemingly in a hurry.
"Big rush that guy must have been in, huh?" he said to no one in particular, gesturing vaguely behind him and trying to pretend like he totally blended in and wasn't super weird. "Is he lost? New around here or something?" The joke maybe fell a little flat. Obviously he was the new one around here (well, not technically, but practically)... Yeah, that was a dumb joke. Whyyyy did he say things like that? Dumb. He realized suddenly that his hands were kinda sweaty. He quickly wiped them on his pants in what he thought was a nonchalant manner and looked around the room. Maybe his nervous bad joke/sweaty hand combo had gone unnoticed?

"Maddy. Baby. Why ever would I do such a thing?" She blew him a kiss and went back to sipping at the coffee that she had acquired from the desk she was sitting on. The paper that Megan had thrown just missed the cup, but the other woman got a well-deserved look and tut in her direction, followed by a smile. See. Friendly behaviour!"Did he miss a deadline with his files, Mad? Did he turn something in wrong? Do you want me to ruffle him up a bit? Get Ursy to speak to him? We could tag-team him. We're a good team." And Ursy was a great best friend in the worrrrrrrrrrrld. And babysitter.
Eli raised a hand to wave slightly at Bear upon his return, before patting an empty space at the desk she was sitting on. "C'mon honey, come sit with me. I have coffee to share." Cold coffee, but coffee all the same.
It was only by chance that she looked where Bear had gestured and she grinned. "That's himmmmmmmmm, MADDY! Look at his cute little toosh walking away!!!!!!" Was Maddox about to follow? Give her a show of his backside too? This was turning out to be SUCH a great day!
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Darn it.
The paper had missed.
Megan returned Eliora's look, tut and smile with an exasperated look. "That's unsanitary, Eliora,'' she said. "I'm sure Maddox doesn't like women with unsanitary habits.'' She drew her attention to Bear, giving him a smile though it was short lived because lo and behold! There was the mysterious man they were talking about.
"There he is, Boss man!'' And without a second thought, Megan took off after him.

Maddox had been about to turn his interrogation to the old newcommer--first day back if he wasn't mistaken....which....honestly....after having someone entirely unauthorized working within the department for nearly a month left him wondering if he was correct about anything. Merlin he needed a nap.
Would it be entirely even more negligent to take Eliora up on her offer to rough the man up? Maybe, but he seemed full of bad decisions lately.
"That...er.....won't be necessary." He'd been about to insist Megan NOT encourage Eliora's fantasies when the door opened a second time and sweet circe there he was!!! Maddox turned to the man immediately, only marginally surprised when he turned and booked it out of there. Bear's joke did fall flat, insanely flat as the Department Head was now more concerned about apprehension. "We can worry about his toosh in a moment, Eliora. Let's catch him first." He implored, taking off after Megan.
He needed those files back. "After him!"

Ok, but........ boring.
Maddox had moved WAY too fast for Eliora to give him a daily rating and Megan had already gone so there was quite literally no one left to wind up. So Eli was left with one choice and one choice only.
To FOLLOW.
In a totally not bothered manner that was just her walking with the cold coffee in her hand. The cold coffee that had not been hers initially and she had no idea who had been drinking it earlier.

As had been promised at the Cocktail Hour some time back, department head Airey Flamsteed was sending an official summons to one Megan Baines in the form of his silvery roadrunner patronus.
Whirling around the corridors and leaping through walls, the patronus made unnecessary clockwise circles about the room - growing smaller and smaller with each circumnavigation - until it came to a stop upon her desk and addressed her directly.
"I, head of the Department of Mysteries, am awaiting your immediate arrival at the entry chamber. Your department head has already been briefed on the matter. Live long and prosper."
And then the silvery fowl dissipated into the air.

Paperwork.
UGH.
Megan loathed it. With blond hair falling out of her ponytail and loosely against her face, she struck out a sentence she had been writing. It was a report on the team’s latest field work. Put her in the field all day and no one would hear a complaint out of her but being stuck behind her desk was the worst.
Frustrated, the woman snatched up the parchment and crumpled it. This wasn’t working. There was no concinnity with which the words flowed to make the sentences. What was wrong with her? Why was she so off?
Still clutching the piece of crumpled parchment, Megan’s attention snapped to the Patronus. A roadrunner is what it was. Megan liked it; it held her attention as it went around and around, no doubt capturing the attention of everyone else there also. When the roadrunner stopped before her desk, she grinned as the distraction was welcomed from this dratted paperwork. Flamsteed’s voice was recognised immediately and she sprang to her feet. “Catch you guys later,’’ was the general goodbye to her colleagues. She was beginning to think that Flamsteed had forgotten about her. Then again, they had only just returned to the Ministry after the holidays. Megan was just an eager beaver.
Ava was... actually having a really good day. One of the ones that occurs without particular reason... It was quite refreshing, even if it bugged her a little that she couldn't figure out why she this bounce was in her step. She had woken up early, had a very long cup of coffee, and still had time to kill.
So... here she was. She didn't technically start for another hour or so, but she was ready to go! That stack of paperwork was toast.

It was (unfortunately) another early morning for him. These were starting to wear on him and the little sanity he was trying to maintain in the wake of this sleep deprivation. It was only for another week, he kept reminding himself. Once he got this business over in Croydon sorted, he would be back to getting away with strolling in around 10 am.
What a joy that day would be.
Maddox made his way through the fairly empty work area. It was still an hour or so until most people started arriving but he'd be out in the field by then. Before he left, he had a file to drop off.
Entering the memory retrieval office, he spotted an employee already there. Wonderful. By default, the case was now hers. He didn't want to be bothered with figuring out who to hand it to and here Ava sat. It was like the universe was on his side. "Ava. You're in early. Got something for you." He said, raising the file and speaking so naturally that she'd never know it was spur of the moment.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Ursula was busy with looking through the case notes of a few people that needed to have their memories restored. She wanted to make doubly sure that there wouldn't be the need for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to become involved. Everything seemed okay but Ursula still kept alert to her Department Head or anyone else informing her of any emergency cases.

No questions asked, no queries on what the task was, just blind acceptance. Saved him the time having to explain he supposed. When she was ready, she would read the file. Wasn't really an issue as long as she got it done by the end of the day. The jittery folk over at Law Enforcement would be waiting.
As for the liaison position.
"Funny you should ask." In an ironic sort of cosmic twist sort of way. [b]"The position's recently opened up. If you're interested, you can drop off an application, I'll have Daisy look it over, gimme the short version and we'll go from there.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Ursula tended to focus on her work which meant she hadn't really spoken to people outside work hours. Having spotted Maddox and Ava, the young woman made her way over to them. "Hello. How are you both? Liaison position sounds interesting. I wish you the best, Ava." Suffering serpents! Why was Ursula having trouble making small talk? Maybe because this was she was interacting with her department head and co-worker.
