 BREAK ROOM
It's no secret that on any day of the week, MLE-ers have a lot on their plate. A little time to unwind could certainly never be a bad thing. Once you've gotten a bit caught on on your work, stop by the break room for a cup of coffee and some interesting stories from those fresh in from the field.
The coffee is what it is, nothing tremendous but it certainly backs a punch. Feel free to lounge around for a moment--take a short nap on one of the couches if you're sure there's nowhere you NEED to be.
The break room has all the necessary appliances and a vending machine with snacks that change on a daily basis. Some days you'll find a treasure trove of sweet pastries. At other times savoury snacks fill the shelves. The vending machine next to it has the standard drinks you can grab on the go. Everything from butterbeer to pop and even water. | |

Just because this was the breakroom didn't mean that work was always left behind in the workrooms. Case in point: one Ronan Carter, who'd brought his paperwork with him into the room. He needed the energy provided by whatever snacks were in the machine today to get through what was undoubtedly the most boring part of his job. First up? A bag of baked potato chips, with a water chaser. And so there he sat at one of the tables, one hand reaching for a chip and the other holding a pen, blue eyes carefully going over the paperwork laid flat on the table in front of him.

Today was a day full of paperwork, which was honestly the last thing that Frankie wanted to spend the entire day doing. It was the worst part of being an Auror. While he knew it was something that was necessary, the blond would rather spend his time outside of the Ministry instead. Catching bad guys was more up his alley rather than filling out paperwork about them.
With that said, the man had made more visits to the break room than necessary today. After every couple of files, he felt the urge to get up, walk around, grab a snack, and enjoy a few minutes of not scribbling on pieces of paper. His reason for making his way toward the break room once again was no different.
Focused on getting another snack and likely an energy drink, Frankie made a beeline for the vending machines. The younger Auror didn't go unnoticed. "Hello, Ronan," he called out as he walked by and then glanced at the machine options. Was there anything he hadn't already helped himself to today? Probably not.

"Carter, Paton," Bain barked at the aurors as he walked through the room. "Aren't you done with that paperwork yet? And you should really be eating something healthier. Unless you plan on running extra laps later." He tossed an apple at Carter and then pointed to the bowl of fruits on the table near the vending machine near Paton. He really should rehab the snacks in this room. Maybe that was the cause of the problem with this team. Actually the idea of extra laps wasn't a bad idea. Maybe he should increase training requirements. He'd have Cambridge add that to the extra drills he had suggested.

Another day another....day...well.
Scottie hadn't planned on dallying in the break room, not once he'd noticed Ronan Carter and that bloke Frankie Paton. He was quietly drinking his coffee and taking a breather from some ~very important security~ stuff *SNORT* when boss!man McCrabbypants waltzed in throwing APPLES at people.
Please don't notice me...please do not notice me...don't mind me...just like, sitting here being chill... Would it be rude to hurry out of the room? Gosh, he wanted solitude. He finally decided that it would be suuuuuper obvious if he suddenly scurried from the room, but he was so intent on being FOCUSED ON HIS COFFEE that he did not look at ANYONE IN THE ROOM.

Don't think that he hadn't seen the Security Officer lingering in the corner. "Ferguson!" He bellowed will still looking at the two aurors. "Don't you have guests to check in? Or a floor to patrol?" And if he didn't, well, Bain was certain he could find something for him to do. He had done a little tour of the Atrium the other and and had discovered that too many guests were being checked in without a confirmed appointment or a destination recorded.

Bright blue eyes looked from the top row of the machine and began making their way down past snack after snack. He was a little over halfway down and found a snack that would satisfy his needs for the moment. A hand reached into his pocket for some coins, but then the barking voice of the department head sounded.
The blond tried his best not to look like a deer in headlights, but the odds were he wasn't able to hide his initial surprise in time to go unnoticed.
His heart sank a bit when the fruit bowl on a nearby table was pointed out to them all. The bowl was something he was very much aware of and deliberately avoiding. Paperwork required energy and sugar rushes to get the job done, especially when one had stared at paper after paper after paper all morning long.
"Nearly done, boss," was all that Frankie responded with to the man. That was the truth, but his priorities currently lied elsewhere. And they did not involve the bowl of fruit. Was taking those extra laps an option? It honestly wouldn't have bothered the Auror any if it meant that he could indulge in a little cheat snack, without any judgement, before going back to that life-draining paperwork.
He looked from Bain to the fruit bowl to Ronan to Scott and back to Bain again. Well, this was ... fun.

”Hey,” he returned Frankie’s greeting with a brief look up from his paperwork. The paperwork which only seemed to get longer by the minute in his mind. Definitely the bain of being an Auror.
And speaking of bains (heh heh)…..he luckily caught the apple being tossed his way, but didn’t switch his chips for it. Nope, Ronan didn’t eat random, unpackaged food lying around the Ministry. That had only led to bad things for others in the past, and he was one that learned from other people’s mistakes or at least tried to. Besides, he was definitely behind on his exercise, seeing as how he’d pretty much abandoned it when he’d started having to take the stairs, so a few extra laps were probably needed. Besides, he had seen the department head with a lollipop sticking out his mouth before so……
”Almost,” he drawled out casually as an answer to the head’s question.
He actually felt sort of sorry for the young, nervous-looking Ferguson as Goldwasser bellowed at him. Sort of. Otherwise, he was unbothered.

Scottie cleared his throat. "I was switching - I mean - yes, sure - " he said. No use in telling the man he was off duty currently and checking in with paperwork here. Just...yes sir, okay, yes.
"I'll just...go yes, have a wonderful day, sir!" he even unfortunately saluted the man in an involuntary gesture. "I mean - that wasn't meant to - " Why was he babbling? Why was he stuttering?
Ugh.
His face was turning reeeeeeed.
