Default The Cabin of Professor Mathys de Nostredame

In this chic dark wood cabin attached to the castle is where Professor Mathys de Nostredame resides. Though the most many will ever see of it is through the windows when his heavy silk purple drapes were not drawn closed. A private person, he prefers to have his conversations with students on the porch curling around the cottage or while on a walk about the grounds.

So come and knock, state your business, but be prepared to take conversation elsewhere.

Gryffindor had seen about all he cared to see. They were ruining his school! The students were being trained like powder puffs. He himself had suffered insult after insult and felt it was now time to take matters into his own hands. The other founders all agreed. Now they simply needed to get the rest of the castle on their side, one way or another.

Brazen as ever, Godric let himself into the creature man’s hut. A professor here that was not educated here. It was an insult on the entire system and everything Hogwarts stood for. It was time to start cleaning this place up.

Sword drawn, he placed it just about the man’s face as he stood over his bed in the dead of night.

“Up! Up, I say! We must have words and we must have them now. Up, intruder and face your fate.”

Mathys could expect many things to rise him from his turbulent slumbers and had prepared himself for several emergency situations. A sword to his face, the tip of the blade just barely grazing his nose, was not on the list. In fact, anyone entering his chambers at this hour was simply unfathomable. He had made absolutely certain of that.

So it was only natural that his first thoughts upon waking were of utter confusion, followed by a few choice exclamations in French.

Uncertain as to whether or not he was awake or experiencing a fever dream, his arm moved subtly to reach beneath his pillow for his wand.

"Intrudair? Zat would be you," he snarled, his eyes struggling to adjust to the darkness surrounding them. He could barely make out the mane of hair belonging to Godric Gryffindor, the man backlit by the pale light of the moon creeping through his closed curtains. Though even so he did not immediately come to the conclusion that that was who was looming over his bed. Why would he? "Who are you? How did you break my enchantments?"

His fingers brushed against his wand and curled around it.

”Hah!” He barked. “I laugh at your little enchantments. They cannot stop the great Godric Gryffindor. Your Headmaster ought to have told you that.” But there was a lot Trent had let fall along the wayside. A lot that only the founders could fix.

“Now I’ll tell you again to be up. Prepare to leave this mighty castle. Only those who have received the finest education.” A Hogwarts education using guidelines he and his colleagues had set centuries ago, “can think to educate the young wizards and witches of the future. Out! Out with the likes of you, Sir.”

Although.

His sword eased away by the smallest degree. “However, you shall be spared if you join us. Your transgressions we can overlook but you must help us retake what is rightfully ours. Our school. In case the man had been wondering. Was he awake yet? This was serious business. To sleep at a time like this, unheard of. “Rouse yourself, Frenchman and we will see to a new order at Hogwarts. The original order. As things should be. We will remove Trent with or without your help. You’d best choose carefully lest you wish to have an unpleasant time within these walls.”

Laugh. Laugh?!

There were not enough explicit exclamations in the French language for the Care of Magical Creatures professor to convey his insult and unrest at those words. And while Headmaster Trent had not entirely earned his loyalty, he was further spurred on by the subsequent slander.

His hold on his wand true, Mathys only half listened as this Godric fellow continued to speak while his eyes continued to adjust to the point that the stocky intruder was no longer a mere dark shadow and gleam of moonlight from a blade. He could make out more of the other man's features now and, more importantly, the slightly limp wrist that occurred as the true nature of intent was revealed.

That was when 'the Frenchman' sprung into action with a nonverbal Stupefy blasting forth from his wand while 'the great Godric Gryffindor' was right smack in the middle of his monologue.

Godric stood just a little straighter when the Frenchman drew his wand, bracing himself for--nothing. That was it. The spell connected and Godric kept standing there waiting to see how long it would take for the intruder to realize that his spell had had no effect on him.

Perhaps he should offer a hearty laugh.

While he could no longer wield a wand, there were certain "perks" to having this new sort of life, one being the futility of those who tried to cast on him. "Done?" He was done and ready to get down to business. Gryffindor grabbed the man by his shirt and yanked him up from the bed. "I'll not be asking you again. Make your choice. Either you stand with us or you stand in our way and need to be taken care of."

They needed men of action! They needed to strike a hammer against the ills that had befallen the institution they'd so worked hard on.

These students needed better management and leadership. Not...not whatever was currently going on.

What the hell?

Mathys' eyes widened as an owls seeing his spell strike true but yielding no results. Nothing. That was absolutely impossible...

Though the man was given no time to process this further as the intruder was jerking him up by the shoulders (since Mathys de Nostredame slept shirtless). A snarl crept across the man's face as he shifted his leg beneath the blankets. His choice had already been made and this lion haired abomination was clearly not paying attention.

"You can go back to ze hell from whence you came!" Mathys barked as he wrenched his leg up and struck the man with a firm kick to the center of the chest.

Try to get the better of him, did he?

NOT SO, SIR!

As Godric was kicked away, he swung his sword with all the might of Gryffindor. Reject his benevolent offer would he? Well he could have a bite of his sword. The man straightened, his sword pointed at where a nasty little wound surely now was. "I have been kind with you and you did not heed me. You and all who oppose will find themselves with far more than that little scratch." Godric wiggled his sword in the direction of the slash in indication of what he meant.

"Mark my words, the next time you see me you will wish you hadn't." Oh how he would wish.

"Leave this place while I still allow you to."

And with that, Gryffindor spun on his heels and stormed from the hut, seething as it were. He could take this castle himself if he had to!

There was no time for Mathys to avoid the blade as it came down and despite his efforts to roll out of its projected path, the blow struck true. Though the French man refused to give this impostor the satisfaction of hearing him groan, there was no denying the pain it felt from the deep wound in his chest as warm crimson leaked from the line across it.

This Godric Gryffindor need not worry, Mathys already wished he had not seen this monstrosity and it was unlikely that the would be a second encounter. Especially if he did not make his way to the hospital wing.

Opting to save his strength, he offered no witty quip in return and instead watched in temporary defeat as the crimson clad menace stormed out of his cabin. Teeth bared, he rolled on to his side and made some attempt with his silk sheets to create a compress to the wound before adjusting his grip on his wand and conjured his Indian roller patronus which then went flying off towards the hospital wing for aid.

By the time Gabriela had reached Nostredame's hut, she looked a bit of a mess - her blonde hair was all tangled from the breezy night air, and she had abandoned her usual heels as soon as she realized trying to run through the grass her in black pumps was a foolish endeavor. Part of her - the cynical part she tried to ignore most days - still wondered if this was all a joke. If she'd find a group of teenagers laughing at her expense as she burst through the door. If that were the case, she wasn't ENTIRELY certain she wouldn't hex someone.

But no, the patronus and the message it had brought with it was all turning out to be true. As she ran into the hut, opening the door rather dramatically without knocking, she found Mathys clutching a homemade compress to his chest. Numerous questions immediately popped in to her head. How much blood had he lost?! Who had done this!? Were they still here? Most importantly...did she have to fear for HER life?

Snapping out of it after just a small second of hesitation at the shock of seeing that Mathy was, indeed, bleeding out in his hut, she walked across the threshold to him and opened her nurse's bag. She began to dig around, muttering to herself about how ridiculous this all was in her native German before letting out a triumphant exclamation. "Found it!" she exclaimed, pulling out a small vial and turning to him. "Dittany. Lie down - this is going to sting a bit," she warned him.

Well, more than a bit. The alternative, though, was bleeding out on the floor of a dusty cabin in the Scottish countryside.

Firstly, Madame, his cabin was not dusty. It was immaculate and the only dust to be had been brought in by her own feet as well as those of the previous impostor. It would be a privilege to bleed out on such pristine mahogany flooring.

Already mostly laying down and holding the sheet to his chest, he could just barely make out her shadowed figure moving in the pitch darkness of his cabin. The last time he had felt this sort of pain had been when the claws of a Nundu had found their way across his chest, the scars visible still if one were looking. Though this middle of the night climate, surely nearing 2 am by now, made such things difficult to outline. The glisten of his blood in the moonlight was at least helpful in showing her where dittany needed to be administered.

His eyes rolled back in his head slightly, a pained groan parting his lips as his consciousness wove in and out.

The dittany was having the desired affect - but at the same time, Gabi did NOT like the way that Mathys' eyes were rolling back in his head. He must have lost more blood than she realized, and blood replenishing was NOT something she was equipped to handle at the school. She could handle cuts and bruises, but this wound was proving to be out of her control.

"No no no no no, Mathys, stay with me," she muttered in French to him as she continued to work. She used one hand to continue her work with the dittany, and the other to wave her wand so her patronus began to form out of the tip of the wand. She continued to mutter under her breath, this time speaking the words that her patronus would repeat as soon as it got to St. Mungos. After a few seconds, the fully formed patronus had taken the shape of a Komodo dragon, and took off into the night.
