It was a nice and cool October evening, but not cold enough to need a sweater yet. There was a soft glow of light in the sky and the sun had just dipped below the horizon; it was officially twilight. Tristan usually set up his lessons in front of the barn, but this one was set a little further into the forest than usual, but not too far. He had set up in a little clearing just outside of a cave. Nothing that would cause them harm lived here, but he knew a cave may be a little scary for some students.
As usual, there was a semi-circle of hay bales set out for the students, and his trusty blackboard was just to the right of the cave entrance. There was no evidence of what kind of creature they would be working with today. He liked keeping them surprised! To the left of the cave there was a large Adirondack Chair made out of hay bales, and that was where Professor Wayland could be found; sipping his Chai Tea from a mug shaped like a Niffler, waiting patiently for his students to arrive.

Now this was certainly an interesting set up. Time of day: Twilight. Season: A chilly October evening. Location: Near a Cave. Who: Professor Wayland. With what? A niffler shaped cup filled with some interesting liquid. Tea perhaps? Vi could see the whole scene unfolding in her mind. Heh. She grinned. Now this all made for a good murder mystery setting and an even more interesting COMC class.
She pushed the story idea away from her momentarily to focus on their setting and the excitement surrounding what the class would be studying. As she drew closer to the hay bale semi-circle, Vi gave her friends a brief smile and wave before greeting Professor Wayland. "Hello Professor Wayland. How are you? What are you drinking?" she asked with a curious smile before settling near Tenacius and Melbourne.
Mel grinned over to Vi and Tenacius as they made their way into the area….and heeeeeeey loooooooook they were sitting near her.. ”hey Vi, Ace…funny seeing you two here tonight?” she grinned at her friends before leaning closer to the couple.
”what do you think we’re working with today?” she asked excitedly, oh the creatures they would see.. This was…it was always so fun!

It was actually odd, being that Skylar had been here SIX YEARS and never had that innate curiosity to investigate the Forbidden Forest. She'd must have strolled by it hundreds of times, but being this close was different. Another thing odd? Skylar was actually super duper appreciative of the cool October evening weather. It was just leggings and a light sweater for the captain, because no need to overdress. Maybe depending on when the lesson finished she might even head down the pitch for a quick fly. Not that she was already thinking about flying except she totally was. Came with the territory, besides she generally liked Magical Creatures and considering Creatures Healer was one of her top five career choices.
Noting the cave to the side of where Professor Wayland was seated, on a bigger throne-like chair of hay, she glanced around and took a seat next to Patrick. Because she recalled the events from last term and wanted him to know, she was here. She didn't get an outstanding on this OWL for no reason. "Evening, Professor Wayland!" She greeted cheerfully. It was really a good thing there were no allergies to hay. "Whatcha drinking there?" And she may have echoed Vi in that question, but she was curious too. Also, if they would get some refreshments, except after the library!cookie incident, she doubted she'd partake in any if offered. She never should have partaken in the cookies, but they looked so amazing and she was starving.

Derf was arriving a biiiiiit later than usual. Though he reckoned that Professor Wayland would have a hunch why. And no, before anyone thought it, as tempting as it was to sneak Picketta out since he WAS visiting the nursery to tuck her in and read her a bedtime story from his copy of Walking on Dragon Eggshells...but no. He had refrained this time.
"Evening, professor!" the fourth year eagerly chirped as he arrived, only then taking in the scene and the entire aesthetic that Professor Wayland had set up. The hay was of no surprise and Derf hardly gave it a second glance, but the CAVE brought about a copious amount of questions and thoughts. He was instantly reminded his first EVER Herbology class when they had gone into the caves to harvest fireseeds aaaaaaaand his homeboy centaur had been there too as a guide. "Will Thereos be joining us tonight as well?" he asked, eyes aGLOW with eagerness to just get GOING. It wasn't all THAT often you got to enter the Forbidden Forest with permission, you know? Let alone be ENCOURAGED to interact and study the creatures there. "Neat mug, by the way."
Okay...but cave...THAT was the hint. And were he not so keen on trying to figure out what miiiiiiiight be going on he may have noticed the look Jessa had on her face and remembered about the cave in Defense Against the Dark Arts - though Patrick reminded him of that about five minutes later and THEN he ventured a glance over at the Ravenclaw. But alas, instead the prefect was bouncing where he stood and drumming on his thighs. Not exactly a drum roll but rather he needed SOMETHING to do with his hands. He DID, however, notice Abey looking apprehensive and that sorta sobered him up a little. He was sure that Professor Wayland wouldn't FORCE anyone to go into the cave if they were uncomfortable. Still, he waved to his Gryffindor and offered a BIG ol' smile of encouragement. Maybe if they needed walking buddies or something he could pair up with Abey since, well, he was his unofficial attack crup. You know? Professor Marchand's hand certainly did.
Plopping down in a vacant spot, Derf began drumming on his hay bale and caught Natalie out of the corner of his eye a couple of bales down and offered her an impish grin out of complete reflex - which was was a pleasant surprise to him considering everything that had happened. Creatures put him in too good a mood to consider anything else, however, and he was now too distracted in hoping that whatever it was they were dealing with today would continue to foster her interest in creatures. Something he was rather proud of.

Hi!" she grinned plopping herself down right beside the older girl, her bag sliding off her shoulder and onto the ground at her feet.

Miranda heard a familiar voice prattling on to their professor to her left.. There was only one tiny voice that could speak so quickly AND with that kind of excitement.. She glanced over toward the chatter and saw that red mane that confirmed the culprit to be none other than Rylee, Rian's younger sister.
" Hey, Rylee!..", Randa beamed back at her. " Excited to see what's in store for this lesson, eh?", she added as she closed her book and slipped it back into her bag so she could chat and check in on her adopted little sister.. " How are you finding things here?.. Doing alright?.. No one's bothering you at all are they?", Miranda asked in earnest. If there were any issues she wanted to deal with them swiftly. She didn't want Rylee being mistreated or feel as if she had nobody she could count on.. Nope.. Miranda would be her lode stone.

Care of Magical Creatures was NOT Diandra's strongest subject because it's not really her thing. Nevertheless, the badger still decided to take the class because sometimes this lesson could be fun. Yeah, sometimes. Hopefully they would not be going to deal with... dangerous creatures or even the disgusting ones. She wrapped herself in a jumper and scarf (still couldn't adapt with the Scotland's cold weather) while heading to the forest. "Good evening, Professor." Seeing him having some kind of warm drink, now Diandra wished she could've had one. A cup of nice hot cocoa with marshmallows in this hour sounded like a good idea.
"Hi, Derf." She decided to take a seat next to the Hufflepuff prefect. Perhaps he could help her during the lesson because care of magical creatures seemed like his favorite lesson. By the way, were they going to go inside the cave? Oh, maybe they're going to learn about bats. Hold on, they're just mundane creatures, weren't they?

Creatures was still very much one of Vivian's favourite classes, and it pumped her to keep doing better after her OWL results were released. Getting an O in this subject was a big deal for the Slytherin, and it meant that she had high expectations to reach if she were to prove herself worthy of the grade she worked hard for. Apparently, it never ends after OWL season. It just made everything even more challenging, but nothing that the blond wasn't willing to take.
Vivian avoided skipping to class today, mainly because it was located a little bit inside the forest this time. Since it was dark, she would really just like to avoid tripping over something if she could help it. "Good evening, Professor Wayland," Vivian greeted the man with a smile before taking a seat on a hay bale beside Skylar. The usual, of course. Also, the professor's cup was really cute, and it reminded her to pay a visit to Goldilocks one of these days. Could she have one, too?

Hello classmates she had arrived!
Well that's how she at least how she felt, everyone should have their eyes on Zita, because she was well Zita. Care of Magical Creatures was an okay class, but she did know it was someone's favorite class so she was there to possibly impress, but also just be noticed and be Zita. "Good evening professor, what a lovely night for class." Her smile was pure, but she knew she was saying more things than just hello to stand in front longer and be noticed, as well as figure out where to sit.
Farah got a look, possibly could sit with her, she was fun and totes had potential to become part of the girl squad, but ugh points away from you Fara sitting with Jessa. So she wouldn't be going there. Same went for Zoyrn so her eyes kept moving to find the perfect place to sit. Oh hello Natalie she got a not so sweet smile because yes we see you. Of course, Zarina got a wave, but she wasn't fully sure that was the best place to sit.
She noticed that Hufflepuff that called her lipsticks scales, which reminded her she had to get that to be a thing. Of course Andi and Chloe got waves and they would understand if she didn't sit next to them. Her eyes hit another person, Derf and she gave him a confident smile, see no harm was going on her Mr. Prefect, but she did know exactly where she was sitting and started walking through the circle towards her seat.
As she headed there all the other students got waves and smiles especially the boys just for fun , but Diandra she just got a look, because no one blew off Zita Valla. "Abey, do you mind if I take this empty seat?" Without waiting for an answer she turned and took the seat, but took the seat too close to the end on purpose to fall of and try to catch herself by latching onto him. With a small what seemed to be an embarrassed smile she giggled "Oh I'm so sorry, I guess I missed judged the seat a little." Taking her hands off of him but still brushing across his arm she got back in her seat and crossed her legs. The Zia smile never leaving her face.

America had given Olivia a newfound appreciation for classes held outdoors. In fact, the blonde all but danced her way out to the grounds, finding herself grinning at the crisp evening air. A huge mug of hot tea would be perfect afterwards. Or some savory vegetable soup, or a FRENCH ONION. Mmmm, a little something to look forward to in Liv's opinion.....though, she was wishing she hadn't thought about it, as her mouthing was watering something awful now.
Why was she like this with food?
Eventually carrying herself into the clearing, Liv distractedly took stock of those already assembled....and the cave entrance. That was quite interesting. Not that she was worried, since the Gryffindor felt perfectly capable of holding her own against whatever may lie within. This included the Forbidden Forest, as well.... Hm. Actually, she moved closer to Stasya. Strictly in the name of protecting her, if something were to happen. "Hello, lovely." Liv stole a little side!hug, too, because she had favorites and as terrible as that might've been, it was just how it was.
... "Professor Wayland. you look well today."...and cozy, but mostly well.

Care of magical creatures. It was a lesson she quite enjoyed. She might not have been the best at it, but she enjoyed it, and tried her best. That was all that mattered right? Well, it was to her anyway. So at twilight she was smiling as she was heading down to the lesson. She was excited to see how this lesson would turn out. The other ones so far had been really good. It was a little weird to have a lesson this late, or at least this one anyway, but she liked the change. Change was good, and meant that things didn't get boring. So she was excited. She tilted her head as she made her way down into the forest a little. They didn't usually come down this far. So she was curious to see what was going to happen.
"Good evening Professor" The sixth year smiled as she got down to the area. She greeted the professor happily, before going to find a seat on one of the hay bales. She actually sat down next to Viv, who was next to Sky, who was next to Patrick. Ooh. Maybe there were too many snakes her. Oh well. Too late to move now. So she just leant forward and smiled at them all. "Hey guys"

Maxton tugged his robes tighter around him as he hurried down towards the area Professor Wayland had set up for Care of Magical Creatures. It was chilly. The fact that this lesson was set up right outside the entrance of a cave a little ways into the Forbidden Forest made up for that though. This was cool.
The fourth year found a vacant hay bale and perched himself down on it ready for class to begin.
Hmmm, what kind of magical creatures lived in caves?

Liam was, well, not exactly excited, but kind of looking forward to this class. He had taken to a newfound fondness for CoMC, thanks to all the books he'd been looking through in an attempt to find a creature to draw that Natalie might like.
Not that he knew what to expect with this class, but the interest was still there.
He nodded to Professor Wayland as he passed. "Good evening, Professor," he said, polite. Then he found his sister and helped himself to the haybale next to her. Hi, Nat. Liam would be casually requesting your assistance in this class, if that was alright.
Shera had had a nap before the evening class. That had left her slightly sluggish but still very excited as she made her way to her Care of Magical Creatures class. It would probably still take her a few minutes to reach full consciousness, and that was evidenced in the frizzy curls that stood up in all directions. The joys of bed hair when you had curly hair.
"Good evening Professor Wayland," she greeted, fighting back a yawn but failing miserably as it slipped out anyways. Spotting Daehyun wasn't hard, despite her sleepy state. It was the over enthusiasm of the future magizoologist that gave him away immediately.
Shera's feet managed to get her over to the same hay bale as him, dropping down on it immediately and without a word of greeting she doubled over to let her head rest on her knees. Just five more minutes of rest please? Then she promised to force herself awake and would go back to the hyperactive student everyone obviously loved.
Daehyun blinked in surprise.
... and then blinked some more.
He'd seen Shera approach him, but before he could greet her, the girl had plopped onto the bale of hay where he was seated, and her head soon dropped to her knees. It soon struck him that it was one of those days, the very few times when he saw her in that sleepy state - he'd always thought of them as the days she recharged herself, and soon she'd be back to her energetic self.
Unsure of what to do, since he couldn't really poke her with a stick or anything of the sort, he'd settled for, "You okay?" he asked anyway, just in case she wasn't feeling well, as he leaned on his knees to mimic her position to be close enough to keep his voice down. Maybe she'd be sensitive to loud noises.

Scarlett wasn't sure how she felt about this whole hay aesthetic the professor had going on, but it was very...fall-y. She supposed. Still not her cup of tea. SPEAKING OF, look at that Niffler mug! She grinned as she walked in. "Hey Professor! Nice mug!" she piped up as she walked in.
She looked around and plopped down on one of the hay bales, settling herself in before taking out her notes and getting ready for the lesson to start.

One of her only O's, Care of Magical Creatures was still up there as Felicity's favourite class, and she was determined to do just as well in her NEWTs next year. But even as happy as this class made her, she did shudder slightly involuntarily at the sight of the cave. What? It was ominous, and literally no-one liked caves. Or, at least, the majority of people. And Felicity especially didn't like things she didn't understand, or couldn't see properly, and right now that was this cave.
She did, however, like the air of excitement that always surrounded these classes. "Hi, Professor Wayland," she managed with a small smile, before casting her gaze on the various hay bales and deciding on a seat next to Junia. "Hi," she whispered to her and her cousin as she sat down and dropped her bag.

Dorian did not find it odd that the lesson was near the evening nor that it was near the forest. Instead he was excited about it because some creatures only came out when it turned darker. The Ravenclaw followed the other students untill eventually he reached the location and his eyes were immediately drawn to the cave. Does a large dog sized bat live in there?! That be so.cool!

As it turned out, calming down would be harder than she thought. It was working fine at first, but every time her gaze shifted back to the cave, she thought about going in, then she thought about what the inside was like. The WHAT as it related to what might have been in there wasn't enough to entice the Ravenclaw from the small tides of panic that threatened to set in every time she thought about it.
Farah following her from her original spot to the new one was what sort of managed to gain her attention. "H-Hey...." She greeted with far less enthusiasm than the Hufflepuff. "Nice night...to be in the forest...huh...?" She was trying, really she was, to pretend there wasn't a cave just a few feet away but Merlin it was hard.
Another Hufflepuff caught her attention, the first year. "Hey Emmalyn." Somehow, Jessa managed a nod despite her current preoccupation. "Yeah...it's...it's pretty alright."
It wasn't until Zoryn asked if she was feeling alright that the girl had to admit she probably wasn't doing such a good job of masking the obvious anxiety. "I will be, as long as whatever's in there decides to come out here and not the other way around."
Much like Abey, she was wondering about that little detail of this evening's class. It would make all the difference.
Were she less preoccupied, she may have noticed the way Nat chose to sit clear on the other side of the hay and Derf's approach but right now it was all she could do not to excuse herself and head back to the castle.

That was the first thought that shot through his mind when he saw the cave. The fact that they were a little further into the Forbidden Forest today alone made it more exciting. Twilight only added to that. The cave though, that was...ominous. Would they be going inside? What was inside? Was something going to come out?
„Good evening, Sir.“ Cameron greeted the professor, eyes on the cave though. Not that he REALLY expected anything to jump out at them at any time. But this was Hogwarts, you could never be sure. Finally pulling his gaze from the cave, he went to sit with Nat and Liam. „Hi.“ He smiled at them both. Now, what would they be doing today?
Juni kind of liked the idea of having a evening lesson, one outside too. It was one of the lesson she could count on. Even when it was a bit on the colder side. The ravenclaw was cold natured, and even for it being a nice October evening. So naturally she was wearing a sweater either way.
She headed down to the clearing, greeting the Professor. ”Hello Professor Wayland.” As she passed. Now Juni was so excited about the lesson that besides speaking to the professor she just found an empty bale of hay closest to the front.

"Hey Finn." Junia offered the Ravenclaw a half smile as she rubbed her hands together for warmth. The cold was never something she would get used to and she was doing her best to keep warm, even when others seemed unbothered by the autumn evening air. "I'm just trying to soak it all in, I guess. That way next year I won't be in over my head with studying." That was the hope, anyway...

Junia sat up a little straighter and raised her eyebrows as the younger girl pulled a stunt that, okay, she could see Kitty pulling BEFORE she'd gone and married Hassan, but STILL. She'd pulled it on ABEY. BABY ABEY. Her LITTLE COUSIN. Her LITTLE COUSIN who had to witness her ALSO KISS DERF in front of everyone and, like, NOT OKAY. She was the type to play with boys' minds and Junia was NOT about to let her play with Abey's emotions. NOPE. She'd made Junia's list and it was NOT a place you wanted to be.

The arrival of Felicity was just what she needed at the moment, someone to pull her back into reality. The sixth year managed a smile and nudged her housemate gently in greeting. "Hi. You might not know it, but you just saved someone from getting hexed." Because okay, when it came to her family, Junia might just be a liiiiiittle on the crazy protective side.

Jessi was excited for Magical Creatures class. Well, she was pretty much excited for all of her classes......but especially this one. When she arrived at the designated class area, she was a little surprised. They were in the forest and was that a cave? She couldn’t imagine what they would be learning about today. Noting the cave to the side of where Professor Wayland was seated, on a bigger throne-like chair of hay, she glanced around and took a seat next to Patrick. Because she recalled the events from last term and wanted him to know, she was here. She didn't get an outstanding on this OWL for no reason. "Evening, Professor Wayland!" She greeted cheerfully. It was really a good thing there were no allergies to hay. "Whatcha drinking there?" And she may have echoed Vi in that question, but she was curious too. Also, if they would get some refreshments, except after the library!cookie incident, she doubted she'd partake in any if offered. She never should have partaken in the cookies, but they looked so amazing and she was starving.

So she just leant forward and smiled at them all. "Hey guys"
Patrick watched as Skylar sat beside him. Thankfully he now had a familiar face sitting beside him and he was significantly less fearful of what might happen in the cave because Skylar seemed to know what was going on enough to keep herself alive. "hey Skylar. How's it going?" he was trying to keep conversation light, he didn't want the whole class to see his fear.
After looking at the cave trying to wipe the dangling from the edge of the cliff from his memory he heard Hattie great the group. He hadn't noticed that Viv was beside him, "hey you two." he leaned out a bit hoping that the conversation with the other students would keep him at ease and focused on the lesson, which would hopefully have the creature coming out of the cave instead of in the cave.
