| | |  CoMC Activity: Mooncalves Under the Moonlight
Tonight couldn't have been better for what Professor Paton had planned for her students. Not a cloud was in the sky. And the sun was just beginning to set, casting various shades of orange and reds across the early night sky making for a very scenic view across the pastures.
Hadleigh stood where the pastures began, her hands clasped very lightly behind her back as she waited for those that were going to join her this evening to arrive. Besides what was written on the noticeboards about the activity she was holding very shortly there was nothing at all around the area giving any hints as to what was going to happen. Once everyone showed up they would be going for a short walk where she had things set up a little bit more.
However, right now, Professor Paton sported a warm gentle smile as she ran over things in her head one more time. OOC: Hey everyone! Thank you all for coming! Sorry for being a little late with this, I meant to have it up this morning. This isn't a lesson, it's a simple little activity Hady thought the students and staff might like. Feel free to join in at any time, leave at any time and play both students/or staff members if you like! Students were all told they could dress comfortably and bring a blanket or something else to sit on if they choose to do so. | |

Bryony smiled softly at Aryan, taking a few breaths along with him just so he knew she'd always have his back. As the bestest of friends, he never had to worry about a thing. She would always do whatever she needed to do to help him. "All better?" she tilted her head at him, looking him over. All appeared to be good again. "Great! I like this spot. We'll be able to see everything from right here." They had chosen the best spot right in front at the top of the hill.
With Ary's blankie laid out neatly on the grass, Bry untied her own blankie from around her waist and set it down on Ary's.
"I bet there's iced tea for you. Mama knows how much you like it." Her small hand didn't hesitate to take hold of his so they could get their snacks together. Like they did things any of other.
With their drinks and plates of sandwiches and other snacks, Bry sat herself down on the blankie right at Aryan's side. Her own blankie was laid out over both of their laps so they would be warm while they ate. A small sound from her blankie mate had the blonde smiling brightly, she knew that sound! The Mooncalves were here! Bry cast him a glance and gentle nudged his arm with her own as if saying 'I see them!'. She loved the creatures as much as he did. "Lookit that one.." she whisper giggled softly, pointing towards one of the younger ones that was dancing around. Mooncalves were so cute!
Hadleigh walked around for a few moments while everyone got themselves comfortable. There were more than enough blankets to go around and so much food and drinks. She had tried to ensure that there was a good variety for those that were hungry or thirsty. A nice hot cup of coffee was what she needed right now.
With her own drink in hand now, Paton was ready to answer any questions the students ha. Only, this group was very quiet and so far no one was questioning anything. This was alright, she was there should anyone be curious about the Mooncalves at all. She considered remaining silent and simply watching the creatures dance beautifully like she had done many times before until the Mooncalves began dancing in perfect formation and creating patterns throughout the pastures below. "Now I know this isn't a lesson but does anyone have any ideas why the Mooncalves dance the way that they do? Creating such beautiful patterns for us all to see?" She was curious to see what answers they all might come up with.
The time continued to move along and it was getting darker now and more chilly, the mooncalf slowly wandering off back across the pasture. And the students still had lessons tomorrow. "Alright everyone, please gather up your blankets, it's time for us all to head back inside now. I hope you all had a nice time seeing the Mooncalf out and about but as they are heading off to go sleep now, so should you all. Off you all go back to the castle."

“All better,” Ary confirmed. It was not nice when one was struggling to breathe. At least he hadn’t gotten a painful stitch in his side. And with their respective blankies all set out and waiting, he led the way to the food. Bry had been right: Aunty Hady did have iced tea. She really was quite the woman, Hady Paton was. He poured himself a glass of the drink, put some cheese and chicken salad sandwiches on a plate, and once Bry was ready, headed back to their blankies.
Ary had quite forgotten to eat or drink now that the mooncalves were in view. Bry was right: they were one hundred percent cute! The boy looked around at her as he was nudged, smiling broadly. Best evening at Hogwarts so far! His gaze then followed the Mooncalf was indicating. “Lookit hims go!’’ Ary whispered. The Mooncalf’s moves were clumsy but Ary did not care; he was mesmerised.
His ears peeked up at Professor Paton’s question. “Part of a mating ritual,’’ he said, sticking a fist in the air. Ary’s gaze never left the creatures. His body even started to sway a bit as he watched.
It was just too bad when the dancing eventually came to an end and the humans needed to start packing up. | |
