Transportation Conference Room The Conference Room has been specifically set aside for both Departmental and Division meetings. The conference room is locked when not in use. Division Heads, if you find yourself requiring the usage of this room, please send a memo to Mr. Trumbull with the time, date, duration of use, and purpose. |
ooc: Conference Room currently in use by the Broom Regulatory Control members only (and Level 3 obliviators and Level 7) |
Hair in a thick braid down the back of her head, Amanda walked into the Conference Room, ready for business. She took a seat at the end of the big table, and waited for her own employees, and workers from Levels Three and Seven. As she waited, she flipped through some papers, re-reading over what the situation was. With a sigh, she leaned back in her seat and waited. |
Theo headed towards some meeting he was meant to attend. He was there to represent his Department. It couldn't be hard to take notes. He had some parchment and a quill with him. |
Ivan strode in, full of purpose and - more importantly - fully awake after his little nap in his desk chair. "Ivan Callistus, Oblivator Head," he announced quietly, sliding into the most comfortable looking seat. Transportation had nice seats - no tears in the leather or wayward springs. They probably have a bigger budget.. Ivan thought silently. "My team should be right behind me," he added to the others seated, turning particulary to the nearest person to him. "And you are...?" |
"Theodore Newtington. Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports," Theo smiled, "Nice to meet you Ivan." He looked to the door, "Ian should be coming soon. He is my Head of Quidditch." |
Ivan shook the man's hand. "So these were professional quidditch brooms then?" Ivan asked, referring to the stolen brooms. He whistled low. He'd hate to the person responsible for guarding those brooms - supposing, of course, someone had been responsible. What a muck of things a few muggle children could make. |
"I have no idea. All I know is that 15 brooms were stolen. I don't know what brand they were." Theo frowned, he wish he had been told more. "I guess I need to know more about what I am meant to be doing." |
Ivan nodded in agreement. "We've been creating memory scenarios on the blind, too. But I s'pose they'll tell us everything in the briefing...usually do." Ivan shrugged. He liked to have all the information, but he was used to having to wait. The Ministry wheels turned slowly. "You know, I've always wondered...do you blokes in Games and Sports get passes to the matches?" Ivan slouched a bit in his seat, getting comfortable. |
Theo smiled, "I generally get free passes, my employees get a reduction, usually about 50% off." He loved to flaunt his privileges. "But I don't go to all of the games. I go to most of them. And I of course go to every Quidditch World Cup final. Free of charge." |
Ivan was impressed. And envious. He could admit it. "Lucky bloke! All we ever get is a small holiday bonus and a coupon for the sweets shop in Diagon." Sweets for a man who didn't eat them and a bonus that just covered the cost of a replacement robe. I wonder if they have any openings... Shaking off these disloyal thoughts - after all the Obliviators had been good to him - Ivan pressed on with, "The Cup, eh? Got a favorite team?" |
Anita walked into the office. She had with her a couple of self-inking quills and some parchment. She smiled at everyone and said, "I'm Anita Volt. I work in the Broom Regulatory Control Department." Anita took her seat which was next to Amanda. She placed her parchment and quills on the table and waited for her co-workers. |
Lorraine hurried into the conference room, carrying a stack of files. Even though this wasn't technically her project, she still oversaw it and needed to be there to make sure everything ran smoothly. She took the seat next to Amanda, and smiled. "It's your meeting, but if you need anything - I'm here," she said, giving her an encouraging wink. It was always a pleasant change, when she wasn't running the meeting. |
Quote:
"England of course. Loyal to my country. And then in the Nationals I support the Bats. Because they are my team. Played for them for 15 years." Theo spotted Lorraine enter. He wasn't sure whether he should say anything. Because it would probably be inappropriate. "Hey Lorraine. Good to see you again." |
Ellen hurried into the room and sat next to Anita. She looked down and consentrated on her shoes, she had no idea what else she could do. |
Katya had gotten lost on the way here and had been separated from Dae who was probably admiring somebody's shoes. Looking around the snazzy conference room, she couldn't help but be impressed by the expensive decor. No wonder the Level Six 'taters were such snobs. They probably sat around sipping on designer coffee and laughing about what their designer babies did in their designer gardens. Barely suppressing the urge to roll her eyes, Katya plonked herself down in a seat (comfortable, springy... she'd have to get one) as far away from her boss as was possible. This way he wouldn't be able to tell her what to do. |
Lunch had been pathetic, the coffee was all gone and there wasn't a chance of napping with Jason McStiffy around. Grumbling underneath her breath, she walked in with a stack of paper in her arms. They were the mock plans she had promised to turn in and hadn't quite yet. Dae Sun had gone as far as to draw them out, for eye pleasing purposes of course. Taking a seat by Katya, she dropped the papers on the table and twisted in her seat to frown slightly and the beige leather. "So fancy," she quipped underneath her breath and turned her attention before her. That guy that landed in their office earlier was chatting up her smaller boss and there was a small squint in her eyes for a moment before she was distracted by her papers again. |
Amanda looked to Lorraine, apprecitively, "Thanks," she said, and turned to everyone in the room. "Okay, so I guess you all know why we're here...Um, if you didn't know, I'm Amanda Vanalda, Division Head of Broom Regulatory Control." she nodded with a half smile. "Anyway, some muggle children have robbed a shop of its flying brooms...fifteen brooms to be exact. So we need to decide what we're going to do about it.....how we're going to retrieve the stolen brooms, modify the muggles' brains, etc. Er.." As this was her first meeting, she wasn't entirely sure what to do next. She glanced at Lorraine, and then back at everyone, "So...any thoughts?" She felt utterly unexperienced in this area, so she waited for someone else to speak. |
"First, where is said shop?" Theo asked, "And second why would muggles want to steal broomsticks? They are just an object to sweep floors with." He scribbled some random things on his parchment, "Oh and how can my department help?" |
Lorraine was busy looking down at some files, but looked up when her Division Head started to speak. She gazed around at all the other faces in the room, and nodded as Theo asked where his department can help. She looked over at Amanda and said quietly to her, "May I?" indicating she would handle this. Standing up, she glanced down at her notes then up at the ministry employees present, specifically addressing Theo. "For those who don't know me, my name is Lorraine Brothmeister, Department Head of Magical Transportation," she said, knowing it was always best to start with introductions in a crowd of new faces. "Now Theo brings up a good question; what would muggles want with broomsticks? I would imagine that they have heard of our little 'community', and thought they could try flying too. Which is highly dangerous, of course," Lorraine started. "So my intent was to retrieve these broomsticks from them because it is of course a felony, theft, that is... and also modify their memories, which is where you obliviators come in. As for a specific reason for Level 7, none, but to be aware of what is going on in the broomstick market." |
"Of course.." Amanda responded before Lorraine started speaking. She lowered herself back into her chair and let out a breath. She was glad that Lorraine had decided to intervene, for she had yet to be filled in on these details herself, and would hate to make a fool of herself. Nodding at what her Department Head was saying, she bit her lip, taking it in, getting ready to do her job. |
Anita began to write some notes. It was the only thing she felt confident in at the moment. This was her first ever meeting so she was a bit unsure about procedures. She leaned against her chair and listened intently to the meeting. Boy was she nervous. |
Casually waving in Katya and Kim's direction, Ivan spoke up. "Well, I've already had my Obliviator team work on some replacement memory scenarios. So once you catch the young hoodlums, we'll take care of their memories. Assuming..." Ivan looked around the table, wondering who might be here representing the Security department or Muggle Affairs, "...you are done interrogating them." |
Sharing a slightly overly-enthusiastic grin with Dae that was hurriedly covered up with a hand, Katya nodded at what her boss had said. Oh yeah... now the fun begins. She'd been working in this division for a few weeks now and this would be her first field assignment. The diabolical laughter in her head was deafening. |
"The broomstick market comprises of what is new and being sold, and what is being taken off. Theft does not concern me. For obviously the main concern is the security in the shop. And I shall be speaking to the shopkeeper, if you would give me the name," Theo smiled. He was in a meeting he didn't have to be in. At least it took up his time. |
