Theodore's Office Welcome to my humble abode. The door is always open. But check I am in here first (I just may be No need for formalities, the name is Theo. My office has a desk, like most offices. The walls are covered with posters of Quidditch teams, and players. You will find brooms in the corner, gobstones on the table, balls all over the place. Make sure you don't step on anything. |
Theo made sure he was the first one in the department, that way he could test out the new equipment he had been sent. He almost ran to his office dodging desks. He threw his bag in the corner of the room, and went to collect a snitch from his drawer, but found he had a load of paperwork. How had Alina put that there since she had gone home last night? He knew he had left after her. With a sigh he sat down at his desk, hunted around for a quill, and began filling it out, hoping for some sort of distraction. |
There was a knock at the door and timidly, Penelope poked her head through, "Sir?" She asked shyly, She stepped forward and smiled, "My name is Penelope James.. I'm new here and I just wanted to introduce myself to you." She hesitated, "I look forward to working here Mr Newtington, Thank you for giving me this opportunity." |
Theo looked up from his paperwork, to see a lady at his door, "Come in. Take a seat. Watch out for anything that doesn't look comfortable to sit on." He laughed and stood up from his desk. Finally his distraction had come. "Hello Penelope. Call me Theo, there is no need for formality in this department. After all we work together. I may be your boss, but even I have a boss." He walked round to the front of his desk and leant against it, "So Penelope. What division will you be serving me in?" |
|
A thud, a snort at the clumsiness, and Dan knocked on Theodore Newtington’s office door. He ran a hand through his hair as he waited for an answer. There were voices inside, and Dan hoped that his boss was not talking to anyone too important. |
"Ah Gobstones, its a cool department," Theo smiled. He picked up a small gobstone that was sitting on the edge of his desk. "Nasty little things though if you get that in your eyes," he laughed, putting the gobstone back down again. "How many years? It'll be 5 years now. Which actually is longer than I thought. Wow I have missed alot of my kids' childhood." He laughed to himself, and made a mental note to do more. "Do you have any children?" Theo heard another knock on his door, "It's open, just come on in." |
Dan opened the door and stepped into the office. Grinning broadly, he nodded to Theo and to the seated young woman. “Hello,” Dan said. “I, uh, figured that I’d come in and…” Introduce himself. That’s what he was trying to say. It was too bad that he got tongue-tied whenever something important was to be said. “I'm Dan. Dan Wenride,” Dan concluded with a nod. He knew who Theo was, of course, but the young woman’s identity was a mystery to him. Hopefully she would follow his lead and introduce herself. |

"Welcome to my department Dan. I am Theo, and this here is Penelope. She will be working in your Division," Theo smiled, "Take a seat." "Maybe that's a good thing," he laughed, "I have two. Twins to be exact. The girl is stroppy and the boy acts like a 4 year old." He rested his hands on his desk, "Has Alina arrived yet?" |
Dan nodded to Penelope once more and grinned at Theo as he carefully made his way to a chair and sat down. He eyed Penelope as Theo talked. She looked like she was a hard worker, but then again, Dan had never been a good judge of that exact trait. He was wrong more often than he was right. Hopefully this would be a time that he was right. "Alina? I haven't seen her yet today," Dan said. |
"Oh, she said she would be straight in," Theo shrugged, "Maybe Junior is playing up again. One day I will have to bring that boy in here." "So you looking forward to working in my department then Dan? It is a fun place to work I hope," he smiled at the younger man. |
Dan grinned once more. "Who wouldn't look forward to working in your department, Theo?" he said. He did not mention that he was sure that his job would be a dream job for many Hogwarts students. Surely Theo knew that. "So far, I've been able to get up in the morning and be excited," he joked. So far really wasn't very far, after all. |
Theo laughed, "Now I know alot of people want to work for Syd, in his Auror division." He played with his ring, and then looked up to the boy, "Isn't it your first day? It is when you get to 5 years and you still do that. That's when you know you love this job." |
Dan laughed and nodded. He was fairly certain that he succeeded in concealing his embarrassment; leave it to him to make a joke that no one noticed. Standing, Dan jerked his thumb at the door. "Well, nice to meet you, Theo - and Penelope, too," he said. "I think I'm going to head over to my desk and get organized." |
"Nice to meet you too Dan," Theo smiled, "Hopefully we shall be seeing alot of each other." He watched the boy leave. "So Penelope, you looking forward to working for me?" |
|
"Yeah sure. Go ahead. Paperwork, the most funnest thing on the planet," Theo smiled, returning back behind his desk. He picked up his quill again and began filling out the bits of parchment. Where was that woman? He wanted a drink. |
Alina peered round the office door to check if Theo was free. She smiled as she entered the room properly, holding two mugs. "I brought you a coffee." Alina handed over a large stripey mug, sure that was the one to which she had added two sugars. Alina herself only had milk. "Did I miss anything?" she asked, pulling a slight face. She had some more reports to file and she had wanted to get them done and out of the way first thing. "Buzz lost his voice," she said, giving Theo a knowing look. "And he refused to go out with Buzz not speaking." |
Theo gazed up from his paperwork, at the sound of his Secretary's voice. "Mmmm thank you Sweetheart," he smiled, "Coffee sounds like the perfect thing right now." He stood up from his desk and walked towards the woman. He took the cup from her and set it down on the desk. He hugged her tightly, "I bet you missed me." He sighed, "Again? I swear I only changed his batteries a couple of weeks ago. That boy uses him too much." "Oh and how did you get paperwork on my desk, after I left last night?" |
Kahylee walked up to the door and saw it open. She knocked on it and waited to be asked in. She was shy but ready to began her job. |
Theo leant his head on Alina's shoulder when he heard a knock on the door, "Hello. Come on in." He smiled, and pried himself from his Secretary, "I'll talk to you in a minute," he whispered in her ear. "You must be Kahylee," he said, propping himself on his desk, "Take a seat." |
After having successfully mingled with his employees and schmoozing around the office, Ashby decided it was time to go talk to boss-man. He half-waddled, half-walked down the hall to Theo's office. When he got to the door, he knocked before waltzing right on in. "Mornin', Theo," he said brightly. "How are you today?" He smiled, leaning against the door frame, crossing his right foot over his left and placing his toes on the ground. His hands were in his pocket. "So, what do you need done today? We're just getting the paperwork for the Appleby-Kenmare game done, correct?" Before waiting for an answer though, he added, "By the way, I met the new guy today. Cristoph, I think it is. He's a good kid. Good kid..." |

"Ian my man," Theo smiled, heading over to the man, and patting him on the shoulder, "Ah the Appleby-Kenmare game. Yes, and I also need the name of the referee for that game. I want to check him out before the game is played. Wouldn't want a biased ref." He headed back over to his desk, and propped himself again, "Ah Cristoph. Do you think he was well placed? I know he was a hard one." He pushed his fringe out of his eyes. "You've met my wife," he said pointing to his Secretary, "And this other is Kahylee a new Patents recruit." "Surprised that I know your name Kahylee?" he smiled, "I am Head of Department, I placed you in your division. I know a bit about you." |
