As you enter the office the aroma of flowers engulfs your senses. With a large desk in the center of the room you see that it is covered with stacks of papers. Barely visible is a name plate reading, “Sydney Brice”. Not exactly the tidiest set up, but apparently it works for the individual who occupies the space.

Lining the walls of the room are pictures of all sorts of creatures, especially rare pictures and drawings of Lethifolds. Looking around you see all sorts of exotic artifacts; some look very old and others look new.

Leaning up against the wall next to a large map is a woman with long blonde hair. With her finger to her chin it is easy to see that she is deep in thought. Simply knock on the door to get her attention.

Eva wondered around the fourth floor, glad to have been accepted by the ministry. She began looking into rooms, not knowing whether or not she was allowed to. She was filled with excitement and was determined not to let her mother's disturbing Howler in the morning affect that. She knocked on a particular door, and entered to find out that the room was actually occupied. Eva took a swift look around the room she had just entered,it was filled with pictures of different creatures, she finally spotted someone behind a stack of papers. 'Uhm, hello there.' She said nervously.

BrightestWitch 07-08-2007 10:40 AM

Placing another tack on the map that hung from the wall, Sydney had been tracking a group of Lethifolds for months. She wasn’t sure why she was tracking them but then she didn’t know why she did a lot of things.

Her concentration was interrupted when she heard a timid voice speak. Welcoming the interruption she made her way to the door to greet whoever was there.

“Hello how may I help you?” she asked with a smile as she walked behind her desk to take a seat.

c00kie 07-08-2007 10:56 AM

Eva smiled at the lady before her, she tried to appear calm. 'Sorry for intruding, my name's Eva Molinero. I'm new here, so I just thought I'd take a look around. ' She looked around the room, 'Do you mind if i ask why there are so many pictures of Lethifolds here?' She asked, hoping she wasn't interfering with something personal.

BrightestWitch 07-08-2007 11:25 AM

Sydney smiled at the young lady as she extended her hand towards her, “Oh very nice to meet you Eva. I’m Sydney Brice.” She said as she shook the woman’s hand.

“I hope you haven’t found the whole experience too overwhelming. I know it can be a bit much to take in at first. But I’m sure you’ll get use to it.”

A bit dazed when Eva asked about the Lethifold pictures, Sydney wasn’t sure how to answer. She didn’t really like divulging too much about her personal life to people she had just met, so Sydney felt it was best to just keep mum about her Lethifold fetish; she wasn’t even sure if it classified as a fetish. Although according to Gray it was, but then again what did he know.

“Oh, well I just think they are fascinating creatures.” she turned to look at a painting of the creature that hung behind her desk. “Extremely dangerous but full of mystery as well.”

c00kie 07-08-2007 11:33 AM

Lyn shook Sydney's, before relaxing a little. 'Nice to meet you too, and yes, it has been extremely overwhelming for me. But, I think I'll like it here, feels just like home.' Actually, more comfortable than home.

'Oh, well, i've studied a bit about them before, though i'm much more familiar with thestrals and clabberts, but..' Eva stopped herself before continuing. She realised she was just rambling away, 'oh, i'm sorry. i think i'll take another look around, it's nice meeting you though.' Eva said while smiling.

BrightestWitch 07-08-2007 11:46 AM

“Well good! We want you to be confortable here at the ministry. Especially within our department. Don’t be afraid to bring any concerns that you may have to either Mr. McTavish or myself.”

Pleased that they had moved on from the Lethifold topic, the tense feeling that had taken over her body vanished. She wasn’t at all comfortable talking about that creature. That obsession was mostly kept to herself, and on occasion she would discuss it with Gray; but other than that it was a private matter.

“Oh yes, Thestrals and Clabberts are great fun. Quite harmless.” As the girl continued to talk Sydney simply nodded at what she was saying.

“No need for apologies Eva it was a pleasure meeting you as well.” She gave the girl an airy wave before reaching for a stack of papers that needed revision.

Nevarna walked around the fourth floor and saw Sydney Brice's office and knocked 3 times, hoping to ask something.

BrightestWitch 07-08-2007 11:04 PM

Not even looking up at when she heard the knock, Sydney simply gestured for the person to come in. “Please come in.” she said as she continued to look over her paperwork.

After a few seconds she looked up, “How may I help you?”

WhizzyBubbles 07-09-2007 01:37 AM

Nevarna opened the door quietly and walked into the roomy office. "Hello, my name is Nevarna Everdew and I was wondering what division i've been assigned to?" she asked, looking at the woman poring over her paperwork.

BrightestWitch 07-09-2007 06:36 AM

Sydney stared at the young woman for a few moments before registering what she had asked. She was still deep in thought over what she had been doing before the girl had entered the room.

“Oh, hello Nevarna. I’m Sydney Brice.” She began to rummage through a stack of folders that were scattered over her desk, but wasn’t having any luck finding anything.

Opening drawers she continued to search for a particular piece of paper, “Ah! Here it is!” opening the folder she began to read over its contents. Running her finger down the page she finally came to Nevarna’s name.

“You are working in the Beast Division.” She read over the paper for a moment before looking up at the young woman. Perhaps it was time for Sydney to formulate a new plan, because the mess that she so loved seemed to be working against her.

WhizzyBubbles 07-09-2007 07:14 AM

Nevarna smiled at Sydney "OK thanks" she said. She walked out of the office and closed the door quietly behind her.

Emily had been having a bad day. First, her alarm clock didn't sound, making her 5 minutes late for getting ready, leaving her in a state of pure hysterics, although normally she was perfectly happy to miss out on her morning cup. Not this time however. Pushing the thoughts from her mind she walked with purpose towards the Junior Heads Office, wanting to introduce herself. If she was going to be worknig with these people she may as well be friendly with them.

She stopped at the door and took a deep breath. Flowers. She allowed herself a smile as she stood there for a few seconds, breathing in the scent. She reached into her purse and took out a mirror before gazing at herelf for a few seconds, checking her reflection. Good, no sign of her sleepnesss night. Nodding she knocked, smilng warmly. She had just accepted her position and wanted to make a good impression on her superiors.

Sydney smiled at the young woman and was pleased she had been able to assist her, “You’re very welcome Nevarna.”

She watched as Nevarna left before resuming her work.

Hearing yet another knock at the door, Sydney let out a sigh. This was part of the job after all, so she didn’t really mind. However she knew that she would probably have to stay late to finish her paperwork.

Putting her quill down she sat up a bit straighter and called to the door, “Come in please.”

Golden Monkey 07-10-2007 01:35 AM

Emily entered, a friendly smile on her face as she llooked around the office. "Very nice." she commented without saying hello. Realizing her mistake, she bowed her head slighty and said, "I'm sorry to interupt your paperwork, but I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Emily Castior, Head of the Beast Division." she looked at the woman, not quite meeting her eye, but not looking away either.

BrightestWitch 07-10-2007 05:29 AM

Hearing the compliment that followed the disturbance, Sydney smiled and nodded her head at the woman. Though her office wasn’t the cleanliest, one thing was certain; it definitely smelled better than any other office in the Ministry.

“No apology necessary, and thank you for the compliment.” She smiled at the woman as she gestured for her to take a seat.

Rising out of her seat Sydney extended her hand towards Emily, “Very nice to meet you Emily. I’m Sydney Brice.”

Golden Monkey 07-10-2007 01:32 PM

Emily smiled as she sat down. "It's nice to meet you as well." she replied, shaking Sydneys' hand. She couldn't help but look around the office, and think to herself yes, this does remind me of Ariana's room. Except for the flowers, her daughter didn't like flowers much, she was more into pictures of Pygmy Puffs and kittens.

Shaking the thoughtsd from her mind, she got back onto the topic she wanted to discuss. Making herself comfortable, she said, "I must admit to being a little concerned, I am new to being in charge of people, so I'm not exactly sure what I am supposed to do." she continued smiling.

BrightestWitch 07-10-2007 07:00 PM

Sydney sat back down and simply rolled her eyes at what Emily said. Knowing now that she wasn’t the only one overwhelmed was a great relief, “Oh thank you Merlin! I thought I was the only one feeling a bit out of sorts.” She let out a small laugh as she made herself more comfortable in her chair.

“Well I’m afraid I’ve not had much experience when it comes to managing people, but I’m optimistic you’ll do a marvelous job. After all you must have shown great promise to have been giving the position you now hold.”

Positions at the Ministry were not easily handed out to people. Sydney knew that Emily was very qualified for the job so she wasn’t at all concerned.

“There is supposed to be a meeting. I spoke to Mister MacTavish this morning at breakfast and he mentioned something about a meeting.” Thinking back to breakfast Sydney suddenly remembered that she hadn’t’ eaten anything. That croissant sounds really good right about now... She thought to herself.

Getting back to the matter at hand, she put her thoughts of food aside, “I’m sure more will be explained there in regards to what we will be doing.” She gave Emily a smile and hoped she had in someway enlightened her. “Also you can always pay him a visit if you like.”

Golden Monkey 07-11-2007 05:38 AM

Emly laughed and felt relieved when she heard Sydney say she wasn't the only one who didn't know what they were doing as of yet. "Well, it's good to know I'm not alone then." she replied, a toothy grin on her face. She stopped smiling for a second and frowned, realizing this was the first time in a long time she had really smiled. It was a nice thing.

Getting back to the matter at hand Emily nodded as she listened to Sydney speak remembering to speak with Mister MacTavish personally about this later. She perked up at the mention of a meeting, "Really? I look forward to it, I don't think I have had the opportunity to meet the Mister MacTavish yet." she replied, her eyes full of curiousity.

She made a mental note to meet him before the meeting so she wouldn't look foolish in front of everyone. "I think I may just introduce myself to him beforehand." she nodded, more to herself than to Sydney.

BrightestWitch 07-11-2007 09:41 PM

Hearing that Emily had never met Gray made Sydney laugh. “Ah, well I’m sure you’ll find him quite amusing.” Feeling she had said too much, Sydney decided she better keep mum about information regarding Gray MacTavish.

“Oh, I think meeting him beforehand would be a good idea. I’m sure he’s in his office” she said nodding her head, “annoying someone or something…” saying that last bit under her breath Sydney was sure Emily didn’t hear.

Golden Monkey 07-12-2007 04:12 AM

Emily didn't catch the last part of Sydneys statement and didn't ask for further details. She was too busy wondering when would be the best time to approach Mister MacTavish and how to properly introduce herself.

Finally she nodded and stood. Placing her purse back on her shoulder she smiled graciously to Sydney and said, "Well I'd best be off and get myself situated in my office." she smiled again and reached out to shake Sydneys' hand. "I look forward to working with you. Have a nice day." she said happily as she stood there.

Emma-Lee had hung back, behind anyone else, making sure no one was in the office except for the Junior Head, before she knocked. She walked quickly over to the door and knocked twice, standing there awkwardly, feeling a bit out of place, and pulled her olive drab robes tighter around her to hide the rainbow paisley shirt underneath.

She didn't want to do this, but knew that if she was going to be successful at this new job, she would have to know and get along with everyone, including the people. That thought made her stomach turn, she didn't like people, much, but kept telling herself that these people would be different from those at Hogwarts.

Taking Emiy’s hand, Sydney gave it a firm shake. “Pleasure meeting you Emily and I’m sure you’ll do a wonderful job.” She smiled at the woman and was pleased that she hadn’t showed signs of hearing Sydney’s last comment.

“Have a good day.” Sydney smiled at Emily and after she disappeared from sight she sat back down and continued to work.
