Improper Use of Magic Office
Head of Department: Blackened

Whenever an underage wizard performs magic or someone does a spell or such in front of a Muggle, the witches and wizards of this office are notified. They then have to send out letters letting that witch or wizard know what they've done and give them a warning or a punishment if need be. If it's an exceptionally bad case, though, they can report it to the Hit Wizards and allow them to take care of them. Keep an eye on those notifications. We can't let the Muggle's see or else we'll have to send one of you out there to perform memory spells on the Muggles.

Katy opened the door slowly and walked in. No one else appeared to be here yet, and she had no idea what on earth she was supposed to be doing.
She looked around and saw a desk with her name on it. The desk was clear except for a small tub with a few pens and pencils and an empty photo frame.
Katy started looking through the draws and found a few random files, she placed these on top of her desk and waited patiently for something to happen.
When nothing did, she began looking through one of the files in her desk entitled
"Previous Resolved Cases." Upon investigation, she discovered the file was filled with previous cases her department had delt with, including culprit's profiles and precise details of certain events.
Well this should give me an idea of what I have to do she thought, and sat down looking through the folder.

Closing the door silently, Milan stepped into his office, the diaphanous fabric of his robe barely swishing in his wake. He was carrying a single black clip file, as usual, the contents of which were a mystery to many. But it was indeed true that Milan Kosich would never be caught off guard at work, and he had acquired the habit of carrying around the basic documents and dockets around with him. One never knew when an incident occured within his branch, and it wasn't like him to be unprepared.

Stepping in, he caught sight of one of his coworkers, seemingly engrossed in inspecting some papers. He cleared his throat politely before taking his seat at his desk, not far from where she was standing. "Good morning, Katy. Any news on the Quidditch Cup?" he asked while arranging his documents of the day.

Katy jumped and dropped the file she was reading, she hadn't heard anyone come in.
"Hi! erm... no not yet. I've heard some rumours about some 15 year old on one of the campsites who's been and I quote: "acting strangely", but no one's confirmed that we have to deal with that yet, there's no proof that's he's guilty of anything... yet..." Katy quickly picked up the file of previous cases and stashed it back on a shelf, she wasn't sure if she was allowed to read it...

"Acting strangely, you say? Hmm..." He propped his chin on his elbow, looking pensive. "It could be something serious, acting strangely is usually how Imperius victimes were described first-hand, but then again, it could be just some teen trying to cause havoc," said Milan matter-of-factly. "Either way, I'd like you to find out more on the rumours, if you can. Are your sources reliable?" he asked, eyeing her with a little concern. She seemed nervous for some reason.

"And are you feeling alright?" Milan gave her one of his rare smiles, trying to act polite.

"Yes I'm fine!" replied Katy, "just a little nervous about the new job that's all. Well I'm not sure about the reliability of the source, but I can keep looking into it. If you like I'll contact the Head of The Department of Magical Games and Sports, a lot of their staff should already be at the campsite so they could look into it, couldn't they?"

"No need to be nervous, really," said Milan, now walking around his desk, the soft clicking of his shoes unraveling his every step. He seemed to ponder her proposal for a little while, his eyes misty. It might just as well have been something else on his mind, though. One could never really tell.

"Yes, if you can look into it, that would be preferable. As for contacting the Dept. of Magical Games and Sports, I'd rather wait a little longer. We haven't been notified per se of any mishap, perhaps we should take it to our deputy head first," Milan added gravely. "I was supposed to head to her office anyway, I'll make a note to mention this..." He sighed, thinking that as far as workload and excitement went, the Quidditch World Cup was unique. Yet the stress of it all was definitely balancing the scales, and quite tediously, at that.

"OK then, I'll look into it," said Katy, smiling and preparing to investigate. She sat down at her desk and took out a quill and some muggle paper she'd brought in. Katy knew the owner of the particular campsite, he was the source. After thinking for a moment, she began to write.

Richard,

Hi, how are you doing? I know this is an odd question but I'd prefer it if you didn't ask why I'm asking you this... if that makes any sense. Do you remember that strange teenager that was wondering around your campsite looking suspicious? If he's still there can you please keep an eye on him and tell me about anything (and I mean anything) the slightest bit suspicious that he does. I can't tell you why, but I do need to keep an eye on this kid, whoever he is. Don't worry, I'm not involved with criminals or anything silly, I'm just investigating something for the police ok? Please contact me regularly, I may have to come down there and investigate it myself, but I'd prefer not to.

Give my love to Sarah and the kids, Katy

Katy finished the letter and stood up.
"Do you mind if I go and post this? Muggle post I mean, it's for the owner of the campsite." she asked Milan.

"Very well then. Thank you," Milan acknowledged her willingness to help shed some light on this particular affair. He buried his head in the pile of papers before him, trying hard and failing to discover the whereabouts of one specific document.

At the sound of her voice, he raised his head, giving Katy his full attention. "Of course I don't mind." He nodded curtly, then seeming to think better, added: "Acquaintance of yours?"

He trusted her to write her message coded enough, no doubt about it, but still, in their field of work, a hue of extra caution never hurt anyone.

"Yes he's a friend of my fathers," Katy replied. "Why would you like me to make the letter a little less... personal?"

"Not necessarily, I was just curious," Milan replied with a nod. "It's likely a more impersonal letter coming from you might raise suspicion. No, it's probably better this way, write it so that it comes out natural, like your previous correspondence. The last thing we want is too much attention drawn to us even before we've sorted out the issue." He smiled faintly, hoping he had made his point.

Katy nodded, made a few changes to her letter and left to post it.
