Hello everyone! So I achieved this challenge once before with a character: Peeves. And awhile back was working on a set with a partner for our RP Characters (you might recall Dominic Denton and Miranda BelCanto, yes?) Anyway, so I'm back here again, this time challenging myself to write 100 for my ~~current~~ former School RP character of 14 terms and the ~~current~~ former Arithmancy/Muggle Studies Professor: Josephina Faith Hadley.

Some of these might geared toward her younger years, whilst others will be older. I should give indication when it shifts. Bear with me as I work through this and enjoy.

89. Past

It wasn't hard for Josephina to recall her first magical experience. Age seven and Leanne had just returned home from her first year at Hogwarts.

De-gnoming in the backyard; Leanne started teasing me about the magic she learned. Jealousy enraged me and next thing I knew, I launched at her. But as she was bigger than me, she shoved me on the ground. I glared. What happened next was nothing short of miraculous, as a garden gnome jumped from beside me and onto Leanne's wrist, biting her finger. She screamed.

It's only now that I realize this was magic.

25. Sorting Hat

Four years later and I anxiously hop onto the stool when the Deputy Headmaster calls out, 'Hadley, Josephina'.

Ravenclaw was the house for me, I knew. The moment the hat was placed on my head, it began whispering....

Avid reader ... not a bad mind ... willingness to work hard .... interesting...

What was interesting?!?

Ignoring her, the hat shouted out, "Hufflepuff!"

I blinked a moment searching for my sister, hoping to see that she wasn't shamed by me. Nothing. She didn't care the I did.

Feeling sick, I slowly meandered toward my first unknown path - to the sea of gold and black.

32. Common Room

I didn't talk at the feast. Noone seemed to bother me as they sensed my discomfort, which I found both comforting and appalling, as others chatted amiably nearby. The time came for first years to be led to their common rooms, and I recall the Prefect laying down ground rules.

No outsider has EVER visited the Hufflepuff Common Room and if they tried, they'd be doused in vinegar.... we're not duffers.... we're a family....

Somewhere on the short walk down to the kitchens, I found myself deciding to be more positive about my sorting. Helga Hufflepuff was actually wildly creative.

5. Astronomy

"...Your assignment this weekend is to star gaze this weekend and catch a falling star..." Professor Belle drawled.

Josephina stared at her notes from the year and then back up to her Astronomy Professor. She liked Professor Belle, but this assignment was just vague. How in the name of Merlin and Isaac Newton was catching a falling star supposed to help her prepare for her Astronomy OWL?

Her amazingly nerdy and talented fourth year sister would know. But for some reason, her pride didn't want to ask her. Perhaps, after all, catching a star was just a metaphor. Wasn't it?

78. author's choice - Graduation

It had been ten long years since Josephina Hadley felt the magic within the Hogwarts Castle walls. The secret corridors to Hogsmeade. The thrill of watching Quidditch as she studied for her NEWT exams in the Library. The smell of the age-old textbooks.

The last thing on Josephina's mind on that sunny day in June 2062 was that she would return to Hogwarts to teach.

But after less than a decade of learning, numbers and consistency, she found herself back in the castle. Only this time, she was the one behind the large dias at front of the Great Hall.

14. Hogwarts, A History

It was half past eleven and though Josephina knew she ought to have been sleeping to prepare for her first day of classes - she was restless.

Beneath the soft glow of her night lamp, the small Hufflepuff reached into her bag, removing the first book her small hands found and pulling it onto her lap. Hogwarts, A History.

As she cracked open the spine of the book, she realized the irony of this being the first time she opened the book; for it was also her first night at Hogwarts. Her journey of superfluous words and numbers had begun.

93. Chicken

Though Leanne had always been nice to her at home - reasonably as a big sister was - there was some mischievous gleam in her eyes that made Fina nervous.

"So I heard Hufflepuff may finally have found themselves a new Seeker," Leanne teased, approaching her sister.

"I'm not trying out." Fina said bluntly.

"Scared of the Ravenclaw team? Pity, but Quidditch is too dangerous for you anyway."

"No. I just don't want to play."

"Chicken!"

"Am not"

"Are too!"

"Am not!" Without even waiting for her sister to argue back again, Fina stubbornly made a run for the castle.

35. Pureblood

"Today we're going to separate the class based on heritage. We will work in three groups." The Professor instructed her class of First years. "For starters, raise your hand if you're a muggleborn. If you are, then please go sit over ...there...." She pointed toward back of the room.

"Halfbloods find a seat in the middle. And Purebloods .... take the front .... Yes, Miss Hadley?" She said, impatiently addressing Josephina's raised hand.

"Well, I was just wondering .... How pure one's blood must be to be considered pure? Like is there a specific percent?" Fina's cheeks flushed, hoping the question wasn't dumb.

58. Hoot

Skipping outside down to the courtyard, Josephina took hold of Alex's hand. "So tell me, sis, how do you like Hogwarts so far?"

"It's great."

"Really? Two weeks of Magical Education and all you can tell me is that 'it's great'?" Fina raised an eyebrow in confusion. Sitting down on the bench and drawing her younger sister next to her, she proceeded to braid her hair. "I doubt Mom and Dad would think highly of such mediocre words."

"You're a hoot." Alex beamed, sticking out her tongue, and then pulled away restlessly, running toward the pathways. "Come and find me!"

45. Licorice Wand

Hesitantly, Josephina crossed over the threshold into Honeyduke's. Leanne had been telling her all about it for three years and now as a third year, she was finally going to be able to investigate on her own.

Her hazel eyes bulged slightly at the grotesque names of some of the candies. "Acid pops? Blood soup?" Fina made a face. "Ice mice? Ew. Who would eat Cockroaches?"

"Don't knock it till you try it," the bubbly shopkeeper said, bouncing from behind the counter and over toward Fina.

"I think I'll just stick with a couple Liquorice wands and Peppermint Humbugs please."

77. Cheerful

Chewing on a liquorice, as Fina exited the shop she looked around the streets a moment and spotted a familiar blond housemate, Morgan. "Oh. My. Merlin. Did you see the shopkeeper in there?"

The blond shook her head at Fina. "No, what's wrong?" she raised an eyebrow peculiarly.

"She's so critically insanely cheerful and bubbly. It was like she overdosed on sugar quills and chocoballs." She bit off a piece of liquorice and then reached into her bag. "Want one?"

Shaking her head again, "Nah. I'm off sweets for the upcoming Quidditch Match. You should really consider trying out, Fi."

13. Quidditch

Heeding Morgan's advice, Josephina added her name to the list for tryouts in her fourth year. Still reluctant over playing the sport, she wasn't to ignore the fact that the Hufflepuff Captain, Nikolai Vannacutt was quite the looker. Looker or not, as she headed down for breakfast the first morning of tryouts she found herself unable to stomach anything on the table.

As Josephina headed down to the pitch with school broom in hand, her coloring turned a shade of green.

So it was no surprise when Nikolai didn't allow her to tryout. Quidditch was just not meant for Josephina.

12. Charms

Josephina stared at her notes and then up at the board. It didn't make sense. Why was Wingardium Leviosa swish and flick, when some of the other charms didn't require a specific wand movement? Or even more confusing, why a flick?

"Professor Zoa? My feather. It won't ... go .... up?" Like even a broomstick - and the eleven year old didn't take flying - was simply an 'up'.

"Did you swish and flick your wand, Miss Hadley?" Professor Zoa asked, raising an eyebrow at the still resting wand on her desk.
Fina sighed longily, as she finally picked up her wand.

6. Divination

As Josephina climbed up the ladder to the Divination tower, she winced at the aromas that caught immediately in her throat. It felt like she was walking into an incense shop, only ten times worse. And were those beanbag chairs where they were to sit? She only signed up for Divination, because Laura Rierdan had advised her the subject would be a good companion to numbers.

But the moment Professor Kotkin opened her mouth with the Divining introduction, Josephina feared the contrary.

"I see myself dropping this class at the end of the year," Fina whispered to her partner, grimacing.

8. Potions

Heading down to the Potions Dungeons, Josephina wasn't sure what to expect on the first day of Potions lessons. Perhaps it was something along the line bottling fame and brewing glory. One thing she did NOT expect to find was a witch by the name of Sophie Melita, who seemed infatuated with a certain LARGE man.

She was eleven years old, and didn't exactly care for such romances. Or Melita's baking. This was potions, where they were meant to learn even the most basic of information, such as the difference between monkshood and wolfbane. Or where to find a Bezoar.

9. Defense Against the Dark Arts

Having just finished her written portion of her OWL Defense Exam, Josephina nervously awaited her practical. Pacing outside the door of the Great Hall, she mentally rehearsed the spells that she'd spent extra time going over with Professor Rae, just as Morgan exited the Hall, beaming. "Good luck," she whispered to me, as I gave her a nervous return smile.

Deep breath. I entered and was given the first task to conjure a corporeal patronus.

Happy thought: passing ALL my OWLs.

"Expecto Patronum!" I exclaimed, as a silvery blurred figure emerged from my wand. Not corporeal, but not malformed either.

23. Telescope

"You broke my telescope?! How in the name of Pythagoras does one simply break a telescope, Josephina Faith?!" Leanne shouted, quite possibly loud enough for those on the other side of the castle to hear.

"I didn't mean to. I just.... the telescope.... the boy....distractedly, I dropped it," Fina mumbled, averting her eyes from her sister. "I really, REALLY am sorry."

Leanne scoffed. "That telescope was a gift from our late Grandfather. It's the memorabilia that Alex was LOOKING FORWARD to inheriting."

"If it makes you feel better, I broke my pinky too."

Irritated, Leanne glared and turned away.

22. Kneazle

Achooo! Achoo!

"Gesundheit, Fi," Morgan said, stroking the furr on her new pet kneazle. "Do you like him? Mum thought I could use company here cause I'm used to caring for lots of pets back home. So she bought him for me for the holidays."

Fina sneezed again, her eyes watery. "What sort of kneazle is that? Because I think it's got something in its in fur that makes me sneeze."

"Don't be silly. Munchkin is harmless." Morgan looked at her cat, wiggling her nose. "Aren't you, Munchkin?"

Fina stared disbelievingly. "I hope you're right, but I should stay away."

49. Yule Ball

Groggy-eyed, you look up from your parchment and realize that it was thirty minutes before the ball was meant to start. Quickly writing your name on top of the homework (and dotting your 'i'), you stand stretch and put your school books away, making the dash from the library to the Hufflepuff Dorm.

You can do it, Josephina Hadley. Top notch student, fearless hardworker, loyal friend and can clean up nice to boot. Pulling your hair back into a high ponytail, you slip into dress robes and some classy low heels, and carefully head back down to the Great Hall.

11. History of Magic

"During the Warlocks Convention of 1709, artificial dragon breeding was outlawed...."

Josephina was only half listening during History of Magic that day. It wasn't that she found it un-interesting. She loved magic and she loved its history, but talking about facts such as when dragon breeding was one of those 'who cared' seminars?

Instead, she found herself doodling Professor Lainey's name along with working out her Character Number and Personal Day number, perhaps to help understand why the woman picked today to host a boring seminar. Lainey was generally more energetic and her lessons quite lively, unlike today's dragon breeding.

7. Care of Magical Creatures

Skipping down to the grounds for her second class of the day, Josephina wasn't about to hide her excitement. For starters, it was Magical Creatures, which she understood. She liked this class. And best of all, her partner was charming and he knew Creatures better than any other third year.

Beaming as she approached the Ravenclaw's side, she looked to him and then toward the creature they were learning about today. Dragons.

Atticus leaned over toward her and whispered in her ear, "If you can't take the heat, don't tickle the dragon."

Was that some sort of cryptic Creature message?

51. Act

Climbing up to the second floor, Josephina turned around and gave a blaring look at Morgan. "I'm okay. Really."

Morgan just shook her head. "It's not you I'm worried about."

"Then what?" Fina snapped.

"Please, stop acting like you have no idea what I'm talking about. You like him. Just admit it. He's a great catch, nothing to be ashamed of."

Fina shook her head, doubling-back, "I'm not ashamed. I'm just....he's everything, I'm not..."

Morgan let out a long sigh. "When are you going to start having more confidence in yourself?"

"When you stop worrying about my love affairs."

24. House elf

One particular Halloween, Hogwarts decided hold a Costume Party as part of the usual Halloween feast. Thinking she would try to be clever, Josephina used her shortness to her advantage, as she dressed in a ragged nightshirt and slippers. When she entered the Great Hall and found her sisters, Leanne gave her a once over, as Josephina took in her sister’s outfit, which was as typical – flawless.

“What are you supposed to be?” Leanne inquired, amused by her sister’s bravery to wear rags to a feast.

“It’s obvious.” Fina said defiantly. “I’m a house elf. Duh!”

50. Boggart

The last thing Josephina expected to hear when she walked into the Defense classroom that morning was a rattling coming from the closet behind Rae’s desk.

Staring curiously at the cupboard, she unpacked her parchment and quill, making a conscious effort to keep vigilant.

Rae spoke of how a boggart got into her classroom and using Riddikulus. When she approached the creature at her turn, she froze. It wasn’t a spider before her or even her head of house giving her a failing mark.

It was her flying professor. Telling her she had to fly on a broomstick.

52. Bore

Sixty minutes left of class. Okay, she had just taking her seat in Greenhouse Five two minutes ago, but this class had to have been one of the slowest moving classes. Josephina rolled her eyes as the professor droned on about puffapods or whatever in Wenlock’s name she was talking about today. Honestly, she hadn’t been paying attention, nor had she bothered to listen to the last three classes. Morgan would help her later on the homework.

Fina began doodling her name on her Herbology notebook, lazily assigning each letter a number from the Pythagorean system.

Fifty-nine minutes to go.
