Not far from Kalen's office and the Observatory is a blue door.
Should one open the door they would find a small cozy room filled with comfortable looking chairs. Bookshelves like the wall, and you'll be able to find many Astronomy, Physics and Science books up here. Kalen has personally picked them out and put them up here specifically for any Astronomy minded students.
Should reading not be your thing, one of the walls and part of the ceiling have been enchanted to look like they are glass, so you can see out onto the grounds as well as observe the night sky if you so wish.
This room is usually left unlocked, but Kalen will be checking in every now and then.
Admittedly, Astronomy wasn't Kitty's best subject. She wasn't bad at it, but her performance in class was (in her opinion) below what it could be. So today she was going to attempt to get her score up by reading as much about Astronomy as she could. All her classes were over for the day, so she had some time.
Humming softly to herself, the Ravenclaw Goth leafed through a bark on constellations. It was a new book, and the tone of it reminded her of the "For Dummies" book series that Muggles seemed very fond of.

Kalen was walking to his office when he noticed that the door to the reading lounge was open. He peered his head in and smiled as he saw the Head Girl sitting there leafing through one of the books he had for students up here.
He quietly entered the room and made some noise as he went towards a bookshelf.
"Hello Miss Valentine, how are you today? " He asked with a smile as he turned his head to look at her.
Maisie curled up even smaller. She was reading the latest Astronomy book, something aimed at witches three years older than her, and she desperately didn't want to be seen. There was a much older student in the room, possibly even the Head Girl, and now a teacher. Anxiety pounded in Maisie's chest. She wished she'd brought her techniques book. Mum spent all summer making that, and now you need it you haven't got it! She thought crossly. From now on it's coming with me everywhere. Even on those Merlin-awful things they call broomsticks!
She took a noisy gulp of air, feeling the tears well up in her eyes.
"Hello Professor," said Kitty pleasantly, sitting up a little straighter for his benefit. "I am very well, thank you. Just trying to catch up on my star constellations. How about yourself, sir?"
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed one of the new Ravenclaws (Maisie, who she found absolutely adorable) looking incredibly anxious and small. She tilted her head so she could look in her direction, trying not to be awkward or to stare as she did so. It looked like she was about to cry. Oh no!
"Hey Maisie," she greeted her gently. "Are you okay?"

Kalen shelved the book in his hand and turned around to talk to the head girl when he noticed someone else was in the room as well. Someone he hadn't noticed, someone.. who looked like they were around to cry.
Oh Merlin.. He hadn't made anyone cry in such a long time! When had he made someone cry last? The Librarian rubbed his neck a bit as he tried to remember.. It was probably one of his brothers.. most likely Skye..
....
Anyways, back to the issue at hand. He wasn't so good with crying and he moved only a little bit closer to the young Ravenclaw, preferring to let the Head Girl take on this uhh..
situation.
"Are you all right Miss Dimple? " He asked softly as well. Lest he scare the poor creature.
Maisie gasped. “Just… Can’t breathe. Just… Need to count… Breath…”
Counting her breath and trying to slow her thoughts down, Maisie kept her eyes on the ground. People were around and she didn’t know if this was a good thing or a bad thing.
Gradually, her breathing slowed to normal and she tried to look at the Professor and the Head Girl. “Sorry, I just… Panic sometimes. I was homeschooled and everything’s so different here.”
Maisie wished hard that her cat, Oria would suddenly turn up, but she was sure cats wouldn't be allowed in the Reading Lounge.
Underneath her calm exterior, Kitty felt slightly alarmed when the girl mentioned something about not being able to breathe. For a moment she wondered if that was literal, but then she realized she was just nervous.
Feeling that it was the right thing to do, Kitty moved to sit next to the younger girl. "It's all okay," she said consolingly. "When I first came to Hogwarts I was shy too. I wasn't homeschooled but I attended a prep-school in Romania that was super harsh. Homeschooling must have been fun, but you'll like Hogwarts too. Teachers don't get mad at you if you're honestly trying. Right professor?"
She looked at Professor Kennedy as she finished talking.

Patrick had climbed all the way up to the seventh floor so he could sit in the astronomy reading room. He had stumbled upon the room once, and it was quiet for the most part which made it easier for him to go through his notes from class and organizing them. He pulled his journal out of his bag and began jotting down how things had been going for the first few weeks as to not forget what was currently going on. If he could only keep it down faster than how fast it was happening in real time. He was having so much fun but wanted to remember everything.

Kalen's green eyes went rather wide as the girl said she couldn't breathe and he was frantically trying to get his wand out of his wrist holster, intending to send a Patronus to River. Thankfully though it seemed like whatever it was has passed and Kalen ran a hand through his dark hair, Merlin, first he dealt with rising dark wizards, and then obstinate Gryffindors and now.. panicking little Ravenclaws.
He didn't feel well, he needed a cup of tea. Also maybe a raise.
He managed a small smile down at the girl from his place near the door and he shook his head. "Teachers usually don't get mad unless you break the rules. " He said softly, trying not to scare her anymore.
"I know it might be scary here, but everyone here wants to to succeed. I promise. It's different, but soon you might feel like this place is home. I know I did. " He said as he looked around the room fondly.
"When I first went here I was so nervous I fainted right before I got sorted. " He said with a soft chuckle.
Maisie, her breathing slowing to normal, smiled gratefully. "Thank you. I'm sure I'll get used to it. It's good to hear I'm not the only one who struggles with nerves." She didn't think she would ever get used to school, but people were a lot kinder than she had been expecting.
"I guess I should head for bed. How do I get back to my dorm from here? Is there a curfew?"
