If you know the password, you can make your way through a portal in the stone wall of the dungeon and walk into the Slytherin common room:
The ceiling is low and the walls are made of stone, and even though they seem dank and cold, the room tends to stay a very comfortable temperature. There are greenish lamps by black leather couches and chairs, with skulls all around. Scattered around the room are very comfy green bean bag chairs (http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz121/The1HBIC/Healer%20Cecilia%20Tillstorm/Slytherin%20HoH/47769623-7d13-4ade-b134-238cd6e71ece.jpg). Once you get in them you just might think you've been attacked by Devil's Snare as you find that the bean bags are almost impossible to get out of. With the common room being located under the lake, you can occasionally see mermaids, grindylows and the giant squid swim by when you look out the windows. A rug covers the floor in front of the fireplace that has a hunter green fire burning in it. The Slytherin emblem is everywhere, as house pride (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-pride-66690/) is one of Slytherin's strong qualities. It reminds students of what being a Slytherin (http://www.snitchseeker.com/term-35-september-december-2013/being-slytherin-68047/) means and allows them to share those feelings with others.
This is where Slytherin students are allowed to unwind, study and chat with one another. There is a room straight ahead that students may use as a quiet place to study (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-study-tables-98585/) and ask prefects and high scoring students questions. To the left, a corridor that leads to the Boys Dorms (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-boys-dorms-98584/), and to the right a corridor that leads to the Girls Dorms (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-girls-dorms-98583/). Beside each corridor is self inking quill and parchment with the words Attendo Thea Vipera (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-intros-attendo-thea-vipera-98582/) on it. This is where you can leave a little information about yourself so your housemates can get to know you better.
On the side of the fireplace is a Notice Board (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-notice-board-98581/) for class and homework announcements, as well as general announcements. The Roster (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-roster-95877/) is also there for Students to make sure their name is listed and spelled correctly. Placed around the room there are four different Wizard Chess (http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Wizard%27s_Chess) game boards. Find a partner and see who can keep their pieces from getting smashed by the opposing team.
A podium stands to the side with a copy of Hogwarts a History (http://www.snitchseeker.com/ssrpinfo/index.htm), which is where you will learn that even though the whole dungeon had once been flooded, nothing was waterlogged or permanently damaged.

One Ethan Mordaunt woke up extra early that day to get some stuff done. As prefect, he had some things in mind that can help his fellow housemates, whether they are new or returning, on how to snag the House Cup. He thought that letting them in some information he gathered from his first term last year would be a great help for the others.
Emerging from the boys’ dorms, Ethan was delighted that the Common Room was still empty. He decided that he will start from there. He got his wand out and duplicated the piece of parchment he had in his hand and placed it on the table for everyone to see and get a copy.
WE ARE AT WAR!
Well, not a war, really…
Nevertheless, my fellow Snakes, the fight for the top spot is on! Last term, our House was short by 87 points against the Gryffindors, and although the house points race proved to be one of the most exciting witnessed in years, we all secretly yearned to win and secure the top spot. Who doesn’t, right? I have to admit though, we put up a good fight last term. But we were only going easy on the competition. This time, we will show ALL the OTHER houses the true power of Slytherin and emerge victorious. The game is afoot!
But before you all head out of the Slytherin Common Room, let me give you some pieces of advice on how to get EXTRA points. First off, did you know that aside from attending classes and doing homework, you can also get credit by practicing at the Dueling Arena? (http://www.snitchseeker.com/d-a-d-a-classroom/the-dueling-arena-98556/) As a Transfer last term, I didn’t know about this until it was a bit too late. And so, everyone is very encouraged to participate. Just remember to READ the RULES FIRST! (http://www.snitchseeker.com/d-a-d-a-classroom/dueling-arena-log-book-92165/) Rules are important, so keep that in mind. We wouldn’t want to lose just because we were not diligent enough to do so, yes? And if you need a little bit of strategy, come forth and I’ll share some tactics with you.
Secondly, remember your manners. Yes, that’s right, M-A-N-N-E-R-S. Slytherins are known to be sophisticated (in so many ways), but being respectful to your fellow housemates, schoolmates (even if we are “at war” with them), professors, staff, elves, and school property…it sure will go a long way. As an incentive, keep in mind that doing so may nab you extra house points, and every single point counts.
Finally, let me introduce you to your confidant: the NOTICEBOARD (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-notice-board-98581/). We have our own right here, where professors, staff, and students get to post lesson & homework notices (or posts on items in the lost and found), for everyone to see. Be sure to ALWAYS check it out. Be in the know! (http://i1054.photobucket.com/albums/s487/MasterMordred/ETHAN%20STUFF/PREFECT%20STUFF/SUBSCRIBE_zpsf4655dbf.png) We also have the Slytherin Scroll (http://www.snitchseeker.com/slytherin-common-room/slytherin-scroll-97605/), where Prefect Wayne and I compile everything that goes in the noticeboard for easier reference. Nothing beats organized information!
Now that you know what to look out for, and what to do, let’s work TOGETHER to get as much house points for Slytherin as possible. Remember to have FUN while doing it, okay?
And stay out of trouble! We’ll be watching.
-Ethan M.
He performed another duplicating charm, and placed the small pile of parchment just outside the door of the Girls’ Dormitory. He wasn’t allowed in there of course, and he forgot to tell Beverly about this, so leaving the pile there will have to do.
He also considered posting the same note on their Noticeboard, but decided against it. He's got reasons. Mhmm.
Now…moving on…

Cutty emerged from the common room. His hair was a RIGHT MESS and he didn't seem to care. Three years later and his hair still maintained a texture that allowed for extra responsiveness to touch and tossling. Just ask Alec Summers. He was thinking about going for his usual swim anyway. Maybe even with clothes on so as not to jar the new Slytherin students who might be maxin' out in the dungeon that morning. Best to ease them into the insanity sloooowly. Yes.
His palid and befreckled face caught the green light from the flames on one side as he headed toward the sofa. His eye caught sight, however of a small stack of parchments. The inscription below stated that they were from Ethan. Oooh, a little love letter was it? Hehehee.
The lifetime member of the bandar log swiped up a copy and flopped down, spreading out and occupying as much space as one boy possibly could in West Odessa's old spot on the sofa. He held the parchment up to his face and read it. Studied it, even. Ethan had a desire. A wish. A dream. And Cutty had been waiting a long time for a student like this to come along. The letter made him feel energized and inspired, but possible for reasons that Ethan did not consider when he wrote it.

Sitting in a corner of one of the large couches was tiny little Hadleigh her legs folded up underneath her and her head resting back and turned to the side to look out one of the windows. She had woken up a bit early this morning and not wanting to disturb her dorm mates she had ended up down in the common room.
Hearing some movement around the room she shifted slightly to peer around the couch, spotting the older boys she slipped back into her spot fixing her gaze on the window. She was hoping to see something swim by having a strong heart for animals this fascinated her.

Agatha walked back into the Common Room, limping and holding a pack of ice. The frown had been part of her facial expression for a while, especially now that she couldn't do her precious ballet. She hasn't been able to even stretch properly in WEEKS now and that was killing her and her mood. Not that it needed that much help anyway.
She walked over to the sofas and noticed Cutty reading something right before her eyes glanced over to the nearby table where a stack of parchment was. Agatha was not that curious, but she limped over and grabbed herself a copy just to see what that was about.
Before reading it, though, she had to sit down because her leg was bothering her big time. She sat down on another sofa as gracefully as she could and placed the ice pack under her left thigh before seeing what the parchment said.
The first thing she saw was the signature at the bottom. "Pfffffft."

Dorm room's were weird. All the other people in there with him and him not being by himself. He liked his own room, thank you very much. Nice, quiet and he could do what he wants. Though Hugo was cool...and the bed's were nice. He had to admit that. Good for jumping off of.
The one thing he noticed right away beside the obvious that this was not a dream and he was not at home. Was the parchment on the table. Well Dante had nothing to do, so why not read it. Dante jumped into an open seat and read the thing. Oh it was all a pep thing. About a points race that he was not here for. Points were cool to get. But did not really matter to Dante.
Plus this was way to much to read. At least make it funny if you want people to read the whole thing, really.
He would not admit the info at the end was helpful...just it should have been at the beginning and Dante would not have had to read the whole thing.

It was a bit cool in the common room, and the fact that the fire was green didn't comfort Dot much. She dragged a bean bag chair across the room, pausing a few times to adjust the small kneazle kitten she'd tucked into the front of her shirt and who kept trying to wriggle free.
The bean bag chair went in front of one of the windows, where another girl was already posted, and Dot settled in there. "Have you seen any mermaids? Or the squid? I heard he sometimes visits." She finally freed the kneazle, who immediately scarpered off to sniff at people's ankles.

Stretching like a baby snake, Beverly wandered out to the common room. This felt nice. Familiar territory. As she stretched her arm behind her back she noticed a pile of parchment and picked one up.
War. Yes. They were at war against the Lions. The Snakes better be ready.
"I like this," she said as a way of greeting to Ethan. She would have liked to know about this so she'd know they were thinking the same way. Either way, she liked that her partner was on his toes.
Taking a few of the duplicate parchments she took it upon herself to distribute them to those who didn't have one yet. Approaching the little ones first, she handed them both (Hadleigh and Dot) a copy. "Welcome to Slytherin, lets make our house proud, okay." Look at her! She was being nice. Sure...she'd only keep it up if they didn't mess up. That message was underlined in her tight features.
A younger boy (Dante) already had a copy. Good, he was on top of things. He earned a nod from the Prefect. There was also Agatha and Cutty. Her two favorite Slytherins. Agatha, though, had an ice pack. "You should have Healer Murdoch take a look at that before the damage becomes permanent." She...cared, okay. Get that checked out, Hapgood.
Coming to a stop behind Cutty - who was in West's seat, she noticed - Beverly ruffled his hair. What? She was curious of how it felt, okay. Pfft. Did she need a reason? He was her best bud.
"Mordaunt," she greeted as usual, and perched herself on the arm of the sofa. She had half a mind to claim this seat. Even if she had to squish herself in it with Cutty Mordaunt. Maybe. "I busted your pinata. It was lovely." The hunting it down and the sweets. It made Beverly a happy Beverly.

It must be a decent hour now as slowly one by one more of her housemates entered into the common room. Out of the corner of her Hadleigh could see a young girl tugging a beanbag chair across the room stopping in front of the window as well. When the girl (Dot) spoke it took a few moments for Hady to realize it was to her. "Oh...oh um no. There hasn't been anything at all just yet. I'd like to see something though." She replied softly gently chewing at her bottom lip as she looked at the other girl.
There was something moving around in the other girls shirt that she appeared to be holding. When it was put down on the floor and made it's way around the room it instantly caught her attention being an animal lover. Watching it for a moment she remembered she was talking to someone and turned her attention back. "I'm Hady by the way."
Just as soon as those words were out of her mouth an older girl (Beverly) was before her handing her a piece of parchment. Taking it she glanced over what it said before lifting her head back up and offering a smile and nod of her head. "I'll do my very best." Hady responded politely wanting the girl to know she wasn't rude and she certainly would do what she could to help out her house.

So small. Sooo smaaall. Was it just him or did the firsties seem to be getting smaller and smaller? This one looked like a fine specimen anyway. He was paying attention to the next batch of Slytherin students for two obvious and one not-so-obvious reasons, the most important of which was to build up his buyer base for the sweets he sold.
He watched the interaction between the new student (Hady) and Wayne. This one seemed mellow or at least with the charisma to project that.
It was a bit cool in the common room, and the fact that the fire was green didn't comfort Dot much. She dragged a bean bag chair across the room, pausing a few times to adjust the small kneazle kitten she'd tucked into the front of her shirt and who kept trying to wriggle free.

Cutty had code names for everyone more or less and they were usually horrible. Even in cases where he didn't find the individual themselves unpleasant. Such was the case with Chablis (Dot), which she was filed away under for horrible, horrible reasons. As was consistent with him, he did not consider her unpleasant despite this. Quite the opposite was true as she displayed what he thought of as a true grasp of discretion at the opening feast.
Which meant he would say nothing about her wriggling shirt.

The first thing she saw was the signature at the bottom. "Pfffffft."
That little sound of disapproval. Cutty chuckled at it. One could hardly be oblivious to the fact of this little feud between Hapgood and the prefect. What he did not know was how deep it ran. There again, Fern bore him ill will at every chance she got and he'd done nothing to her. She liked him. This was probably the case with Hapgood too.
"Yer limping, Hapgood. Why?"
Dorm room's were weird. All the other people in there with him and him not being by himself. He liked his own room, thank you very much. Nice, quiet and he could do what he wants. Though Hugo was cool...and the bed's were nice. He had to admit that. Good for jumping off of.

The litl'un from the train had entered and had also found his way to the love letter. "Do yew know about the points race..." A myriad of names flipped like on a rolodex through Cutty's mind from the night of the opening feast before he remembered the name to which the face belonged. "Barrington?" Barrington. He wondered if there was any relation to Dead Kneazle and former Claw King, Nigel Barrington. Probably not. It was probably just a coincidence like he and Ethan both being Mordaunts. "Yew don't know anyone named Nigel, d'yer?"
Stretching like a baby snake, Beverly wandered out to the common room. This felt nice. Familiar territory. As she stretched her arm behind her back she noticed a pile of parchment and picked one up.

That could've been code for something, and briefly, oh so briefly Cutty's paranoid brain thought Beverly was referring to something of his that she might have some how broken. Then he remembered her birthday. Then he remembered having gotten her something.
"I'm glad it pleased you, Wayne." He said in response, his pliable hair remaining in the exact position more or less in which Beverly ruffled it. Small black tufts going this way and that. "It's a new thing I'm working on. Adding a sense of play to some of the sweets. Took me a while to pehfect that charm."
"Ethan, this is poetry, mate!" He said addressing the other Slytherin prefect. "Very inspiring!" Aaand, wait for Hapgood's response. >:]

Well now that this thing was just a bunch of words that had no meaning to Dante. He could make a paper football later and have fun with that later. Yeah, he would do that. He was wondering why the Girl Prefect was nodding at him. Did she have something to do with this paper. Prefects were a little weird. The nice kind of weird though.
Oh, it was the dude from the train. "Yeah, and are they really as serious as this makes it seem?" Dante asked holding out the parchment thing. Because Dante could care less. And yes, that was his awesome last name.
"Yeah, that is my brother's name"
Did everyone know him?

Welcome to Slytherin. Here's something boring to read. Dot accepted the piece of paper with a completely placid expression, which continued on as she studied the paper. Briefly. Got it. Be good, work hard, win win win. She was on board with this plan.
"Houses can't be proud. They're inanimate." Not to mention that her mum had told her she didn't have to do things to please other people, just herself. She was a strong, independent woman. Rawr.
Where was her kitten?

Dot settled back into her chair, working the piece of paper from the badged girl into a little ball for Nimbus to play with. It was about the only way to get him to come back and be her friend when there were so many interesting things to sniff in the room. And it worked, too, as the kneazle kitten returned to Dot's side in order to pounce the ball of paper.
"I'm Dot. We should keep a log of what we see, 'cause maybe they only come by at certain times. I wonder what else lives in this lake." Maybe a shark that liked to fight the squid for buried treasure. Maybe a sunken pirate ship with ghosts. Maybe a manatee. Probably not a manatee, but MAYBE.
It was the boy again. The interrupting one. Dot rolled over in her bean bag chair so she could watch him across the common room. He had a sort of sulky face, not unpleasantly so but definitely not one that looked like it was meant for grinning. Dima and Kyroh had grinning faces. This boy... at least he was interestin'.
Dot sunk down deep into the chair so that all one could see was the glint of blue eyes and a ginger plait, and she regarded him with that same sort of air she'd had at the table during the feast. A little 'go away go away', and a little 'stay stay stay so we can watch you'.
It was very confusing being a Dot.

Agatha had no time for this, so she didn't read the parchment at all and tossed it on the floor. Don't care.
She shifted on the seat to fix the ice pack when Cutty asked her why she was limping. "Pulled a muscle. This sometimes happens to ballerinas." And you know, she was a ballerina. An excellent one. "It's normal and I'll be beter in no time." Nevermind it had been a few weeks since she had pulled it and it still hurt like urgh. But people didn't need to know that.
The boy then started speaking to that first year she saw attacking Ethan (Dante). He was a promising one, she could tell. Agatha could swear she saw a sparkle in his eyes as he looked at Ethan's leaflets and she just KNEW he wanted to destroy them all. Morgana, such a good kid. Just like that over there who was making a little ball out of the parchment (Dot). Mwahahaha. The redhead got a smirk and an encouraging nod from Agatha. Go on, little ones. Destroy all of Ethan's parchments. She'd help.
Sort of. Beverly seemed to be on it and was handing the parchments out. Since the girl was her friend, Agatha didn't react badly to it and just looked at her when she sat next to Cutty. "Healer Murdoch? What happened to Healer Tillstorm?" The woman was still in the school because Agatha had seen her being SO rude speaking to professor Bellaire at the feast.
But hold on a second, did that little boy just say he was NIGEL's brother?? Nigel as in... NIGEL?? No.... no, it couldn't be. She tried her hardest to remember his last name. She'd seen it written in an Arithmancy parchment................
..........
...Barrington.
The fourth year deadpanned and just stared at the little boy. A very long stare. It couldn't be... "Was he a Ravenclaw?" She butted in. She HAD to make sure.
And scowls at you, C. Mordaunt, for making such ridiculous comment on the leaflet. But Agatha wouldn't SAY anything for now because otherwise she'd be the 'troublemaker', like that silly superlative said. She was no troublemaker. She would never end up in Azkaban. How dare they think that of her. The girl sent scowls at E. Mordaunt too because it was all his fault.

"They're a good tool. If one is after some notoriety of the positive sort." Cutty was not. It didn't stop him from being a top points earner. He simply had other reasons. This year, though he was considering talking it over with the Headmistress to see if he could donate all of his pints to another house entirely.
Just to anger Sophie Newell.
Or anyone, really.
"Yer Nigel's brother. Want to see something?" The older boy with the ferocious case of bedhead asked, thinking it a good time to show off his artistic skills.

If he were looking, not busy trying to tempt vice and misdeeds via example, Cutty would've felt the little blue burs boring through his practically colourless skin. He was oblivious at the moment, a lopsided as anything smile readying itself at the corners of his mouth as he was about to show the little Slytherin boy the Dead Kneazle beneath the coffee table.
Agatha had no time for this, so she didn't read the parchment at all and tossed it on the floor. Don't care.

This girl. She never disappointed Cutty. He was starting to feel that he could set a clock to her temperament and it would always be chaos 'o clock. Merlin bless her so!
The second Mordaunt to attend the school shifted in his seat to turn to Happygoody. He would keep his mouth shut on the healing time being possibly shorter than Agata could've imagined as her Head of House was also the school's healer. Cutty figured Agatha was faking her infirmity just as she was faking her ineptness at magic. He was not about to blow her cover. "Let me know when yer classes are, Hapgood. I'll carry yer books fer yer."

So if you wanted to be a teacher's pet. Points where the way to go. Well it was good information to have. "Do you win anything by having the most points?" If not than why care so much. They were pointless. Hehe, a unintentional pun.
"Yeah and sure" Dante was bored enough, did not really want to walk far, and did not want to read the Prefect's thing again. So sure. Maybe it will actually be interesting.

"Braggin' rights, I suppose." He said with a shrug. It might have also said something of a student's commitment since they were oddly, given for academic participation. So in cases where two candidates for a university might be otherwise matched, they probably mattered and possibly also for early career criteria. It was something Cutty's brain went over as he considered why he earned points himself. The emotional reaction was really where it was at for him. He was a horrible human being.
"Lay on yer back. And put yer head right there." He said pointing with his wand to the low coffee table the underside of which hid a terrible drawing, though a drawing nonetheless of the dead kneazle that made up the band's logo. He'd carved it at the beginning of last year using itaglio.

Shifting in her seat she watched the kitten pouncing on the paper with a soft laugh. It made her wonder if her own kitten was still on her bed in the dorm room.
Hadleigh glanced around at the others in the room making sure she hadn't missed anything other then the paper that had been handed to her earlier which she had seen but didn't pick up as the older girl gave her one.

Walking into the common room, Gregoire was destined to have an amazing term at Hogwarts. Even though it was his first year at Hogwarts, he was still considered a third year. Due to some events happening, his father needed to move to this Ministry of Magic in England from the one in France. Before, he went to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in the City of Lights! Paris, France! He had to admit that he was a bit homesick for Paris. The thing- well, person that he missed the most was his girlfriend, Giovanni. It was a sad thought that he had to leave literally months after they met. You see, she too was a transfer student. But she was from Salem Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the US.
"Arretez Gaston!" (Stop Gaston!)
His cat, Gaston, was digging his claws into Gregoire's shoulder. This was getting extremely annoying. Gregoire didn't want to have to deal with this while he tried to make new friends. So he set his cat into his cat bag, and made sure to close it so that way he wouldn't be able to run away. With that situation out of the way...
Gregoire started to walk around. Today he would make new friends.

Maybe if you were trying to impress someone or annoy someone. Then they sounded fun. Big this was still a big old pile of nope. Though getting points randomly sounded cool and fun. Well as long as you don't take them seriously.
"Okay"
Dante flopped onto the floor and moved his head underneath the table. He squinted trying to see at what he should be looking for. There was a drawing and that should be it then. Terrible drawing it was. But he was not going to say that out loud. "Is that a Dead Kneazle?"
Could have been something else...like a dead hufflepuff.

Was that little boy ignoring her or something? Agatha stared at Dante as he obeyed Cutty and went under the short table in front of them. Hm. At least he proved himself to be obedient. At least that was good news. "Is your brother Nigel from Ravenclaw?" She asked again, eyes still on the ickle. It couldn't be. Agatha had already approved of Dante and she most definitely did not approve of crazy Nigel.
Dead kneazle? What the heck?
Agatha might have been a little curious herself to see what Dante was looking at. Why would anyone ever look underneath a table anyway? Was that Cutty's idea? It probably was, as the boy was a bit strange. But oh, look at that, he offered to carry her books to classes. Huh. Now that was a gentleman, right there. Did you hear this, Ethan? Something YOU'RE not. Hah. Agatha shot the other Mordaunt a LOOK and then gave Cutty a polite nod. "Thanks. My classes are probably the same as yours." Brilliant, she had gotten herself a slave! But wait a minute... "You're not going to charge me for it, are you?" Staaaare.

He was still trying to decided if it was a dead hufflepuff or a Dead Kneazle. He could not really tell. But his thoughts were interrupted by that girl Agatha. Did she know his brother too. And to think he thought Nigel would be an unpopular idiot. How wrong he was on one of those.
"Yeah Nigel Barrington is my brother"
Maybe it was best he was not in ravenclaw. He would be saying that constantly.....probably

It actually seemed like a lot of work. Maybe if loads of people kept track, but if it came down to just Hadleigh and Dot, then Dot wasn't sure she wanted to play this game for very long. Like, what if they saw loads of little fish every day but never any mermaids, and there was Dot committed to writing down every flip of a fin. Or what if they never saw anything? Or what if they saw the darn squid and loads of mermaids every day?
"His name is Nimbus. 'Cause he's the color of a rain cloud." She poked Nimbus on the nose and got batted at for her troubles. "He likes to sleep in my bed." Which was kind of nice, actually, since she got cold at night. Nimbus was a cuddly little furnace, an unexpected bonus to having a kneazle. "Do you have any pets?"

"Ah" Dante could see it now. Not the best drawing he had ever seen of one. But it did look like the band's logo if he squinted. She was totally about to do her homework. Her housemates should be proud. Except really it was just an excuse to hang out with Gray, since they'd both decided why not do it together? Making an entrance (and pausing just so in the doorway momentarily) Ruby smoothed her hair behind her ear and straightened her uniform as she lead the way into the common room, having had entrusted Grayson to carry the crystal balls (he was such a gentleman, was he not?). All the other homework options seemed like waaay too much work and this didn't require any writing or too much thought on her part. Hopefully all homework would be so easy!
"We should put cushions on the floor and use one of the low tables." She decided. Just like in the classroom though it wasn't as dark in here. Unfortunately. Oooh. That one there by the window. She sauntered over to it, grabbing a few cushions and arranging them on the ground in an appropriately comfortable manner. She sat down crosslegged, careful not to flash anyone too much, and tugged her skirt down as far as it would. Not very, as it turned out.
But she was ready to do her homework at least. And maybe the light from the lake would help her see something fun. Or someone fun. It was definitely calm enough in here to at least get the crystal ball to get all misty again, and if nothing good came of it, she'd just make it up and say she saw herself snogging Grayson. Again. Win win for everyone since it would probably come true as soon as they were done with this anyway.
She was totally psychic, obvy.

Swear to Merlin, the only good thing about doing this piece of homework was the fact that he was going to be doing it with Ruby. Nothing else really sparked his interest, to be honest, especially since he had seen NOTHING in the class. Nothing apart from a bit of mist fading away for a couple of seconds. What was up with THAT?
ANYWAYS. Grayson followed Ruby into the common room, holding both of the crystal balls in his hands. Gentleman, he was. Hadn't even obliged to taking both of them. Put cushions on the floor and use one of the low tables? "Cool," he agreed, "Don't fancy trying to do this while sitting by the study tables, anyways." He did NOT want to go near there anytime soon, if he could help it.
The boy smirked a little and watched her go before following her towards the spot she had selected out. Another smirk was given at the length of her skirt because MAN, that was a good length. Setting the crystal balls down so that one was on the table in front of her and the other in front of him, Grayson sat down on his own cushion, even wiggling to make sure he was comfortable. Didn't want to torture himself by doing homework if he wasn't at least a little bit comfortable.
"Nice spot." He liked it. Uh huh. "Did you see anything in that crystal ball back in class?" Please say no.

"Oh I'm sure there are more fun things we could study over there." Ruby said lightly. At least there was nobody over there right? Sooooo that could be useful some time.
She was comfortable and all zen and whatever by the time he joined her. Ruby watched Grayson attentively like he was the MOST interesting thing in the room as he wiggled around to get situated.
"Its not bad." The spot. "The company makes it better." She purred happily and gave him a jaunty little wink. Ready to get started then? Teehee.
"Mm... I saw mist. But that's, like, it. Then I decided that I'd just make up what I saw because who even will know the difference, you know? Soooo if anyone asks, what I saw was you all like..." She made kissy faces, "Which totally came true right after class so clearly I'm psychic." And THAT was how she would pass divination.

So urgh, Dante WAS Nigel's brother... crazy Nigel's brother... what a shame. She had such high hopes for the first year, and now they seemed to vanish as his genes would probably play a trick on him and make him like Nigel once he grew older.
Shame...
"At least you're a Slytherin." She shrugged after sending him a pitiful look. There might be some hope. She thought out loud, pretty much to convince herself of what she was saying.
Then Cutty happened. Pfffft. "Quit acting shocked, Mordaunt. Cutty." She added his name at the end because Ethan was also a Mordaunt and ugh, she'd not be comparing them both. Cutty might be odd, but in no way would he ever be like the weirdo.
'Booht, is that what you think of me? That I'm joost soom greedy charlatan owtfer a quick buck?!' Uhh... yes? Agatha looked unimpressed but decided not to answer this question out loud. "I know there's always a price to pay." She said, still looking at him. "Especially coming from you. But whatever, I don't need your help." Proud Agatha was stubborn and proud. And showed that by flipping her BEAUTIFUL hair as she looked away. Hmph.

Ruby Clytemnestra Banner made her OWN destiny.
That comment? DANG, girl! Grayson, who usually had a witty comeback, had to take a moment to really appreciate what had just been said. "You're gonna made studying sound very appealing." And this was coming from the guy who hated studying with a passion. Just saying.
He saw the way she was looking at him, by the way. Enjoying the show, was she? It made him smirk and all but he wasn't going to mention it. Not when she was saying MUCH more interesting things. "You really know how to make me happy, don't you?" She had to know what he meant by that. Had to. It was RUBY.
Was Grayson glad to be the only one who hadn't seen anything in his crystal ball? Yeah! It was expected. What wasn't expected was the next bit about what exactly it was that she made up. LOOOOOOOOOL! MAN, Ruby really was something. "Clearly. Keep having those psychic thoughts, more of them might come true in the future." Again. Just saying.
Speaking of seeing things in the crystal ball, the Slytherin stared down into the depths of his before saying, "Mine's constantly misty. I thought I saw it changing before but nope. Nothing." Scowl.

"Gray, that is the only kind of studying I do." If it wasn't appealing then Ruby was having none of it. Far more her style to get someone else to do the work for her, and she'd just stick to what she was good at in return. Sooo she was more than happy to offer her inspirational study partner services. Any time he liked. What were friends for?
It was a good thing he recognized her skills right? At this point she'd be surprised if he didn't, because she was good with the little things, the happy inducing things. Still... "We're just getting started." There was more happiness to be had. The joys of friendship okay.
But they were down to business now. Serious business. Divination business. Ruby put her serious face on, which involved a slight pout and a relatively zen expression. Perfect for the task at hand, clearly. "I'll be sure to let you know what else I see." Pause. "Later." After all the boring stuff was done with.
"Maybe you're trying too hard, like trying to force it, y'know? Hmmmm.... think about a time when you're.... really relaxed. Totally zen. See if you can channel that... feeling. And then try again see if it helps." She was going to try the exact same thing. Not precisely clearing her mind, but close enough, Ruby closed her eyes and thought of the beach, a small smile curving her lips.

The only kind of studying she did. Sweet MERLIN, that was hot. "Not surprising that we hit it right off, then." SMIRK. It was a good thing they they were in their OWL year, then, because something told him that they'd need to do a lot of studying. And who wanted to study in the boring way, anyways?
There was a lot he could take from the words 'we're just getting started' and all of them were good things. All of the things that filtered into his brain, that is. And everything was linked to, heh, happiness. "I look forward to seeing what else is in store." Juuuuuuuuust saying.
The change of expression didn't go unnoticed by Grayson, who sat up a little straighter and tried to get into his own serious mode. Or the mode where he actually liked the topic at hand. Whatever worked, right? "Brilliant. Maybe we can share crystal gazing stories, then." Which meant that his crystal ball had better not show anything boring, mkay?
Trying too hard? And HIM? Did he EVER try too hard for classes or classwork? No. But he HAD been too determined to see something in class, landing him with only seeing a shifting fog, so maybe there was some truth in Ruby's words. The boy nodded slowly before saying, "If that doesn't work, then I'm screwed." Unless he went for the making things up route.
Right. Relax. Be zen. Grayson closed his eyes and took a couple of deep breaths, as if he was sitting on one of those yoga mats back in Defence, before opening them and glancing down at the crystal ball. All attention was on the foggy nonsense. Completely relaxed, he was. Just like he would be if he had just woken up from a good nap.
Come on, crystal ball, show him what you've got.

"Ah" Dante could see it now. Not the best drawing he had ever seen of one. But it did look like the band's logo if he squinted. "I see it now" Though owling Nigel about it was not something he wanted to do. He would probably get back a response like. 'Why are you owling me. Make friends or maybe actually learn some magic' Though it could be fun to mess with him.
"I actually might do that. Plus i have to tell him i'm a slytherin. Just for his reaction"
Though he was not going to live up to any legacy that Nigel created.
He was an idiot.
"If he says anything particularly memorable you should share it." For some reason Cutty found this amusing. Barrington (Nigel) didn't seem to have anything against Slytherins superficially as he seemed to be good friends with both Stark and Odessa. Though perhaps he was one of those that simply didn't like the combo breaker snake in his own family tree. Also, Cutty had, over the years, just grown to like the sight of an upset Ravenclaw.
Nuisances they were all.
Hmph.
"I AM shocked, Agatha. Firstly, most witches are oblivious to the ways of the wehld and secondly, it's like...You know me. You really, really know me." Had Cutty made a friend? He put his foot against the coffee table, quietly considering Agatha's life. He liked that she didn't think. She just opened her mouth and whatever came out, came out and almost always drew attention to the girl. He also appreciated that she knew things. There'd be no shock or hurt feelings whatever he dropped on her.
Unless it was an anvil, of course. But he wasn't considering that a very viable option at the moment.

What?
Did Cutty just do all that to then go and compliment her? Because well, that was a compliment in her opinion. You know, saying she was above most witches because she knew the ways of the 'wehld' and the others didn't. Of course she was better than all of them. Of course she was.
"I do indeed." The superiority tone in her voice was very clear and Agatha made no effort to hide it. She was amazing anyway and Cutty himself knew that very well. Of course she was amazing. She tucked a strand of her BEAUTIFUL hair behind her ear and looked solemn in general, as she always did. Yes. She was amazing. "It's not that hard to know you like money. I thought you knew that." The fourth year still sounded quite unimpressed, but she was looking at her housemate again. Mainly because he sounded like he was impressed by her ways of being superior and stuff. No wonder. She could always do with praising, you know.

"I guess it isn't." Ruby agreed, giving him a warm little smile. She was glad that they had hit it off, and it was sort of weird in a way because it had just been so... organic or something. And fun, definitely that.
Look forward to what else was in store? Yes. "I'm sure you do." Ruby simply winked at him. No elaboration on that matter right now. Obvy they were busy doing hoooomework. But maybe they could discuss it later.
And sharing what they saw sounded like as good of a way to try and make this entertaining as possible right?
"You'll be fine. You're soooo smart, Gray, this will be no sweat." She assured him. Just needed to stop overthinking it. And who caaared if he had to fake it? The professor wouldn't ever know.
Ruby opened her eyes and watched him for a little bit before finally looking into her own crystal ball, trying to channel certain relaxed feelings. It wasn't long before the mist appeared again at least. "I see the mist." She said quietly. Nothing else yet though.

Not surprising. Not even a bit. The memory of their Greece trip did stick out to him, for obvious reasons, and aside from smirking a little and nodding at her, he made no other response. He COULD get sentimental and whatnot but no. Mushy gushy stuff wasn't him.
Winks were appreciated, of course. Very much so. "'Course! When have you been known to disappoint?" Kinda weird since they hadn't known each other for THAT long. Still. He wasn't disappointed.
Something he was disappointed in was the crystal ball sitting in front of him. How long had he been staring at the misty depths only to see part of his own reflection staring back at him? It felt like an eternity and he was starting to believe that this was a hoax. Or that he was slipping.
Ruby certainly didn't seem to think so and, Grayson broke contact with his crystal ball to glance up at her. "Thanks. Just kinda sucks to not get positive results, you know?" This was the crystal ball's fault. Clearly. Nothing to do with him. And mist? Grayson looked down at his crystal ball again and shrugged. "Maybe it means that there'll be a ton of mist these next couple of--"
And then it happened. It happened AGAIN. Just like in class, the mist shifted a little and the fifth year practically had his nose inches away from the crystal ball to try and see what was going on. Show him something EPIC. He didn't want anything stupid and boring, thank you. He hastily wiped off the condensation from his breath on the crystal and watched as...........
.................... nothing happened. The mist was back.
"False alarm," he mumbled. Grumble grumble. "You having any more luck?"

No disappointment so far apparently. Ruby preened slightly, obviously enjoying the compliment and the vote of confidence. And since Grayson was determined to do well, she kind of wanted to too? Not to impress him exactly but... something. But even if she couldn't manage it herself she wanted to encourage him since he seemed to get frustrated about it.
"Yeah." She said sympathetically. Actually Ruby knew what it was to try hard to do something, to want to do something so badly, and not be able to manage. That was every day for her, every time she picked up a stupid book and every time she tried to write anything that wasn't her own name. Ruby reached out and touched his arm. "Maybe a little more patience, Gray?" Paaause. "Is there... something particular you want to see? Or is it just... anything at all?"
As for what she was seeing... "Just mist." But she was willing to keep looking.

Dante was just relaxing in the common room with a smile on his face for no reason really. He had his potion book he got from the library next to him with the tranfig book he got from Bellaire. These books were okay and he just wants to get the knowledge in his head and not have to read them again.
Next thing he knew there was this awesome looking book in front of him on that table thing he likes to put his feet up on.
Strange.
Dante scooted towards it and poked it with his wand.

Well someone was insecure, weren't they? Narcissistic. Ballerina. Not yet a prima ballerina. Didn't get the part? Anger issues. Needs constant praise and attention? Where's daddy? Spoilt? Compensation...
A calm little smile crept along Cutty's face as he realized this and other ideas about Happygoody. He'd drink the kool-aid. "Joost as it's not hard to see your superior qualities." He skooted away from her on the sofa and stood about to depart from the common room. "I'll meet you down here for Care of Magical Creatures, then." So he could carry her books, of course.

"It's on my list of things to try." He admitted freely. "Well, it was nice talkin' to yer kid. See yer in the classes. Ta!" And with that he excused himself from the room and headed upstairs to hide things.

The answer was yes.

The pages flapped eagerly open between the boy's hands, the stories and illustrations were real and attractive to every eye, they fit every taste. They talked about bravery, wealth, witchcraft, curiosity's consequence, witty little rabbits, and more! It is very easy to lose yourself reading about those realms and characters.

Ahhh!
Today was a good day! Waking up from a nap in the boys dorm room, Gregoire walked happily into the common room. All was the same, and all was well in his eyes...only...one thing was different...there was another Slytherin, he thought his name was Dante, if Gregoire could recall correctly, reading a glowing book. Slowly and casually walking over behind him, Gregoire peered over his shoulder and asked "Whatcha' reading Monsieur Dante?" That's when Gregoire started reading the words, it seemed to be a Fairy Tale book.
That was odd now that he thought about it...a glowing fairy tale book. Could this be the thing that was making Lex act like Maleficent? No...it couldn't...
Pushing the thought from his mind, Gregoire continued reading the book. "Could I join you in sitting down?" Now he was back to reading. Either way, even if it was rude or not, Gregoire would be staying there reading it.

Peter did not know who this Dante has. But where is the fun in automatically saying his name was not Dante. He wanted to have some fun and not sit around this place.
"I am reading this most amazing book. Gold lettering and awesome pictures."
Which was a little lie since Peter did not read voluntary. But the other info was true.
"And alright" Company was welcome. As long as it was not an adult.

Sitting down, Gregoire was just noticing the gold lettering and pretty pictures! "Wow, this is magnifique!" The pictures looked so real! And the words were so captivating! "This livre is truly amazing!"(book)
It was almost hypnotizing about how amazing it was! Gregoire couldn't take his eyes off of it! This was incredible! The wide eyed third year just wanted to snatch it from Dante's grasp! But, then he'd most likely turn into that one old movie/book character called Gollum from 'Lord of the Rings.' He did not want that happening to him.
He didn't even realize his hand was on the book about to grab it from Dante. It took all of Gregoire's will to make it seem like he was only going to feel the book. So he very carefully just layed his hand on it. Making it seem like he had no bad intentions.
Gregoire didn't want Dante to run off with the book while he was busy reading it.

Her superior qualities. Why, of course. "Exactly." She nodded and smirked as she looked away. Agatha was superior and it was surely as easy to notice that as it was to see how much Cutty liked money. Or actually, her superiority was probably even more noticeable. It was just out there, y'know.
Anyway, bye, Cutty. "Okay, see you later."
Would you look at that, now? A sparkly book. Agatha decided she would sit straighter on the sofa and she watched Nigel's brother - sweet Morgana, she still couldn't believe that - look through it, then a random guy join him. Who was that anyway? And what's with the funny accent? Agatha raised an eyebrow as the newcomer was all over the book and she shot him a suspicious look.
He was definitely going straight to her list of weirdos. She took a mental note of that and would consider it very well before ever chatting to him. Sigh. She hoped Slytherin house would be free of those, but apparently not.

Games were Fun. With a capital F.
But seemed like this kids wanted the book badly. Seeing as his hand was on it.
"Looks like someone really wants to read" But before he could even say yes or no. The book disappears into thin air. Like magic. Totally awesome.
"Looks like the book just did not want anymore company...Shame"
It only likes awesome people like Peter.

Since he didn't give them out often or as often as he could, Grayson did care whether the person he was complimenting accepted them or not. This wasn't something he had to worry about with Ruby, though. Not when the two thought along the same lines. So, he merely smiled in response. Smiled wide.
Yeah. Whitty glanced at the girl to see if she was gonna add anything else and when she didn't, he merely shrugged and dropped the topic. They were conceited -- or, at least, he definitely was -- so there was no need to talk about things they were bad at. Besides, she was giving him advice and touching his arm and that was far more important. Clearly. "Probably. Patience isn't really my thing."
Was he looking for something? Good question. "Dunno, I just wanna see something epic, you know? Something worth seeing." And not freaking mist, which was what she could see as well. "That sucks. Is there anything you want to see in there?"

Studying sucked worse than flobberworms. It required attention and focusing on subjects Beverly wasn't all that much interested in. For example, History of Magic. The past was in the past, why did she need that now?
Beverly decided she'd had enough after an hour of trying and failing to concentrate on history. Closing that book and setting it aside, she took one of her favorite books.
Dragons.
Now this caught her attention AND interest. One day she'd befriend a dragon and they'll be inseparable. It was possible, she's seen it happen, so who was to say she couldn't have high expectations?
With that in mind, she crossed one leg over the other and opened up her beloved book. This...this was life.
