Fourth Floor Corridor

This corridor is located below the prefect bathroom and is on both sides of the castle on the fourth floor. There is a staircase which leads to the Fourth Floor balcony and one which connects students to the Library.

The library was another favored place of Benny's, at least the bookish side of him that sometimes showed its face. So with a little free time on his hands, the Gryffindor decided to check things out there. Surely it would be on the quieter side since it was still very early in the school term. It might just give him a chance to look for anything new that might just catch his interest.

Decision made, the boy made a sudden move as he walked and detour down the fourth floor corridor. The move causing him to escape from the moving staircases before they could trap him and so he could remain were he was instead of heading further down them.

"I never got round to thanking you for the plant." Angel shifty her feet uncomfortably on the floor. "I really liked it and I'm going to take extra good care of it." Angel then remember what she had gotten Benny. "That reminds me this summer my Papa took us out and well I was looking around when something caught my eye and I had to buy it." Angel said truthfully.

Now for the moment of truth, Angel took the stuffed dragon (http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq5/moiser20/giftforbenny.jpg) out of her bag and help it out for Benny. "I got this for you." Angel hoped that he would like it. "I saw it and thought of you straight away." Angel looked at Ben nervously, was he going to like it or was he going to hate it.

However soon enough she was pulling something out of her bag and dispite its white coloring it wasn't hard to see what it was. A stuffed dragon holding a flower.

"It's cute," he said, taking the gift from her with a soft smile. "Thank you," he added, moving to give her a hug. It may have been just a little awkward but she deserved it as additional gratitude.

Angel knew that even though she was freaking on the inside she had to make sure she didn't make Benny think he'd done a bad thing. She could tell she was blushing really badly at the minute and then she saw his ears. "We match Ben."

"Great now Ben was going to think she didn't like it" Angel thought to herself, she knew she had to say something to keep Ben's spirit up. "I liked that Ben." Angel gave Benny a small smile. "You really are handsome and smart and a lovely guy." Angel just concentrated on Ben, she had no idea what to do or say next, way to silence a girl Ben.. she tried to figure out what he was thinking but she couldn't figure it out. so she just stood there waiting for Ben to speak.

Having left his bag and all his books in the library for a while, Toby was strolling around the fourth floor corridor, giving his legs some exercise. These days the need to run and bounce around all the time had definitely died down, but sitting down and studying for more than maybe a couple of hours was still in the realm of impossibilty. But he was getting better.

Toby had looped around the entire corridor a couple of times now, and knew he should probably go back into the study area to finish up some of those Arithmancy calculations while it was all still fresh in his head. That didn't stop him looping around again, though, with one hand shoved in his pocket and the other twirling the end of his school tie, appearing more or less lost in thought.

Angel was just staring down at the floor at the moment, she had a fight going on in her little head, one part of her was saying that boys had cootie and that she should be running away from Benny and washing for the next millennium but then there was the other part that was making her stay here, she actually had feelings for the guy... This was totally weird, she was twelve and she had feelings for a guy... this was not what she had expected to happen.

Angel looked back up as Ben spoke, she was still bright red. This was getting very awkward, very fast was there a joke she could tell to make the silence go away? Angel tried to rattle her brain to get a joke out but she had gone very quiet her brain seemed to be fighting with itself still.

Angel then listened to what Ben said, he had liked it too.. awesome now though here was the question did she kiss him back one part of her brain said yes the other was saying she was just twelve and well she had always been told boys were weird so why was she liking this boy.

Angel looked into Ben's eyes. "Yeah Ben I really say so." Angel said as she thought about everything that was going on at the minute, her brain was still fighting with itself, so she couldn't figure out what else to say. She just started to curl her hair with her finger, she was totally nervous about what to do or say next in the end she just stood looking into Benny's cute eyes... whilst playing with her hair...

Without thinking Angel suddenly said. "Can I just say what wonderful eyes you have Ben?" Angel leaned forwards and give him a small kiss on the cheek. "You seriously are the greatest guy in the whole world Ben." Angel was still fighting inside with her kid brain but well she seemed to be winning and hopefully Ben wouldn't mind the fact that she had kissed him on the cheek.

Okay so she was being all quiet again. Quiet and awkward and just staring at him. Unlike who she was, at least how she usually was. And it was making Benny uncomfortable and fearful again like he had been over the situation over the summer in Diagon Alley. Angel acting like this was what made him fearful of doing something wrong and going too far. He couldn't even connect it to the fact that she might be having the same sort of anxiety on her end and just as in shock and quiet as he got.

"You could..." he admitted even if to him they were just normal. And to be honest Benny had a hard time complimenting Angel's appearance since while he thought she was pretty, it felt weird to also compliment AJ. It was more than what he saw physically that was the reason he might feel...attracted to her and her alone. He almost stepped back as she leaned forward, inwardly yelling at himself as she simply kissed his cheek in return, his blush deepening slightly in reaction.

Okay so he really needed to calm down. To come down off of what happened without a negative reaction.

"Um...well this greatest guy was heading to the library...do you want to come with me?" It was better than just standing out randomly in the hall because it was a distraction.

Without even thinking or anything, the next thing she knew was her lips were on Bens and she was kissing him.. suddenly realising what she had done, she stepped back wondering how Ben would respond.

"I'd love to come to the library." Angel said truthfully was the offer still on the table? or did Ben want some time to himself.

Benny didn't know how the suggestion would go over with the younger lion but there was no harm in asking....right. As he waited for an answer, the last thought that passed into his mind was whar Angel wound up doing. KISSING HIM ON THE LIPS! No small feat given he was taller then she was with their age difference.

Okay so now he knew what she likely felt when he took it upon himself to kiss her.

"Um...as much as I liked that.." he started as he slowly found his voice again. "...probably best to go to the library..." he said awkwardly, pointing in the direction of said place. Now things might be going too fast and he didn't want to have it turn into that teenage angst that had caused trouble at the opening feast. "Maybe get a head start on this years lessons...eh?" he suggested moving again. But before he was too far, he stopped and offered a hand to Angel.

No kissing....but maybe holding hands would be best for now.

Toby had been knocked off his feet and hit the deck around the same time as the other kid, and he pushed himself into a sitting position, still pretty dazed, but not looking mad at all. Which was apparently GOOD, because he found himself face to face with the Ravenclaw that had fainted at the Sorting. Though, uh, he felt it best not to bring that up.

"It's okay, it's cool. No harm done," Toby smiled, taking note of the kids anxious sort of demeanor as he clambered back to his feet. Once up, he held out a hand to help the other kid up, if he needed it. Manners, and all. "You late for something?" 'Cause of the whole human bludger thing.

Josie suddenly heard the sound of footsteps & froze looking down at her parchment pretending not to notice him. She briefly relaxed once that person had passed, but then suddenly felt her heart quickening when she noticed those feet were walking backwards & stopped in front of her.

She looked up slowly when this person; whom she discovered was a boy she recognized, was now speaking to her. And according to him, she looked sick? She looked up slowly when this person; whom she discovered was a boy she recognized, was now speaking to her. And according to him, she looked sick? He already set the planet on fire, already blew it up...what next? Then the idea came to him! He could freeze it! He smirked and thought it was a perfect idea. Plus he already knew the charm from before lessons.

He had his wand in position and pointed at his planet and said, "GLACIUS!" and then his planet froze in place. It was actually kind of cool seeing his planet like an icle. Wonder what Puck was gonna think about it. Would she eat it or stick or tongue at it. Let's see what happens.

Puck smirked when she saw how determined his face was…she was going to win this, or at least die trying. ”Good, so am I pillow” she grinned and started to move her planet away from his as fast as she could. Then, with a swift movement she sent her planet soaring toward Kace’s planet like a rouge bludger.

Quidditch….sigh she felt sorry about the pitch.

As she looked up at the planets she nearly forgot to close her mouth, but she had which was a good thing. As the planets careened into eachother like cars on a highway they burst apart almost imploding in on them selves. “Whoa cool” she grinned as she watched the dust of the planets fly out in every direction.

”Kace…you have something on your face,” she grinned as she saw the bright red, orange, and yellow splotches on her friends forehead. He looked like a mess, a colorful, fun, mess.

Ian assumed that this story had been conveyed, but based upon Angel's response, apparently it had not. He took a deep breath, looked over her head and then back at her face and launched into the story.

Well...what had happened was...I had gone to speak to Professor Hadley because I didn't feel comfortable being in the same dorm room with Adi, since he hates me and all because of what I did to your sister and betraying him as a friend and all that at the opening feast. I thought it would be a simple matter of making my request, she'd understand that I just wanted to avoid causing trouble and she'd let me move to a different dorm room. Professor Hadley had different ideas of course. Professor Hadley patronused Adi to sort things out. He came to her office and your sister was with him. Professor Hadley made AJ stay outside while she tried to make things better between Adi and I. I said my peace, Adi said his peace and your sister busted up in the professor's office and started yelling at me, in the professor's office. All well and good. I've learned to accept we won't be friends and I just wanted to leave. The professor was having none of it. She made us write down one nice thing about each other. That went ok and then she told us we didn't have to be friends, but we did need to respect one another. All of us were ready to leave and I think Adi and AJ held their peace cause they wanted out of there as much as I did. I didn't want to cause no trouble, but when it concerns your family and friends and me...I seem to be a good lightning rod. I don't want to be a lightning rod no more. I just want to be a student, going to Hogwarts. If we can be friends, great, if not...then we don't need to be trying to yell at each other all the time either. Ian released what little air remained in his lungs as he had done his very best to say ALL of that in one breath;. So...there it was. Would there be more Angelry?

Angel looked at Ian as he spoke... so yeah he had gone running to a Professor and she wasn't happy about that because well he was trying to get her sister into trouble. "You could have just spoke to Adi instead of going to a Professor, you knew what the outcome would be." Angel wasn't acting angry or anything, she didn't know how Adi would have acted but well a Professor was obviously going to ask why he wanted to move. "You could have just ignored Adi but no you had to see a Professor." Angel was still gobsmacked that Ian had said something nice about her sister and Adi, it was a good job she hadn't been there because she would still be there now refusing to do what Professor Hadley had said. "I'm not sure Ian... you tried kissing AJ and then when she refused you went over to Abby causing trouble between them... I'm just glad you didn't come near me." Angel said truthfully... she was being honest. It would be hard to be his friend again after all that.

I thought thugs would be better after that day we were in astronomy tossing food around. It started out fun, but it didn't finish that way. That's why I left...so I didn't start nothing worse. Angel looked at Ian as he started to talk... seriously why was he talking to her about all this, Angel had to stop herself from yawning as Ian spoke but some how she managed it... she wasn't going to be ruin to him after all this Ian wasn't as bad as the other Ian that had come.

"Yeah right." Angel glared her temper coming back. "You cause problems between all three of us and you still haven't apologised about that." Angel stared at Ian. "Seriously I'm not looking forwards to the summer now and it's all your fault."

Angel stopped glaring as she listened to more of Ian's story. "Yeah too right, your lucky it was just AJ and Abby you messed with even though they are tough if you had messed with me, you'd be on the moon by now." Angel was just been truthful.

Ian paused in the middle of his speech and looked squarely at Angel. She seemed disinterested in his explanation. Of course, he had sort of expected that much. It seemed that none of the others bothered to listen to the things he said either. He had resigned himself to the fact that they let him speak until such time as it suited them and then shut him off.

He did latch on to one thing she said. He thought he'd ask a clarifying question. How can I apologize when no one listens? I am really, really sorry for causing trouble between you and your sisters. I don't have any excuses for what I did. I was completely wrong and everything I did that day hurt people I care a lot about. He didn't know if she would hear what he said, but at least she hadn't torn him apart like a kitten tears up a yarn ball. He picked up his hands and rubbed them up and down his face to clear his brain matter of more unpleasantness hoping to avoid it.

Angel rolled her eyes as Ian spoke, didn't he have a single brain cell. "Hey Ian... haven't you ever heard of a note or a letter or something like that." Angel sighed seriously he didn't know anything. "You could write a letter and then see what happens but no you go whining to the Professor trying to get my sister and Adi into trouble."

Angel listened to what he said. "So your really, really, really sorry." Angel looked at him. "Well if you really are sorry then you need to send a full apology to AJ and Adi telling them how sorry you are and how much you regret messing with them and that you really hope they will give you another chance." Angel said truthfully. "But I doubt your brave enough to do that." Angel glared at him.

"Like I said it's a good job you didn't mess with me... because even Professor Hadley couldn't have calm me down." Angel looked around to see if anyone was coming. "So you going to tell me why you tried to hex my sister." Angel really was confused about all that.

At Angel's suggestion, Ian seriously had to control his inclination to be dismissive. What makes you believe they would read it? And yes...I considered a note. I've spoken to both of them face to face and neither of them heard my apologies either time. Even when I spoke to them in a calm voice in Professor Hadley's office. He took another deep breath and exhaled between pursed lips. I didn't try to get anyone in trouble. I didn't even say anything to the professor about Adi until she asked why I wanted to switch dorm rooms. I wanted to make a request, I wanted to switch rooms and not feel like I was an invader in my own room. It's hard enough being a teenage boy. It's a WHOLE NEW LEVEL of hard when your roommate's girlfriend hates you. Not to mention, Adi felt the same way.

He listened to her and then asked the following question. What would you suggest I write in this letter? You seem to believe they'll actually take the time to read it and not blow it off like they have blown me off all term. All this talk about bravery and cowardice. What was brave about writing notes? What was brave about putting your feelings on paper?

He shrugged at her question about why he tried to hex her sister. He tilted his head to the side to hear the bones in his neck crack and straightened it up again, looking at Angel. I was angry. We had a fight in the carriage and she ran off to chase you and the first thing that popped in my head to do was a hex. I did it without thinking and I wasn't trying to hurt her. It was an impulsive decision after a heated exchange. Biggest flippin' mistake of my life, that and trying to kiss her at the opening feast, but the hex was worse, I think.

Angel looked at Ian. "I don't know if they will or not but at least if you try then at least you have tried and you can't do more than that." Angel glared at Ian. "But no you going crying to Professor Hadley and don't say you didn't why did you need to get her involved and don't say because you wanted to move rooms, seriously that is just an excuse." Angel rolled her eyes at him. "You just wanted to cause more trouble between everyone."

"Oh you should have wrote why you did it and why things went wrong and how you regretted everything." Angel glared at him. "Now you should add how sorry I am that I went and told a professor on you."

Angel glared. "So you have a fight and then you decided to try and hex my sister when her back is turned." Angel was still furious about that. "Just be glad I wasn't there or you would have been in big trouble mister." Angel continued to glare at him. "YOU THINK!!" Angel glared. "YOU JUST THINK!!" Angel was really angry now. "YOU SHOULD NEVER JINX A GIRL WHEN HER BACK IS TURNED." Angel shouted at him but she wasn't moving, he could leave if he want or he could try and explain his behaviour... she was listening to him.

He listened. I'll give it a try. It can't be any worse than how things have worked out to this point. He felt like trying to justify his visit to Professor Hadley was going to be unfruitful. She had made up her mind on his purposes and further pushing of the subject would like be useless. He just shrugged.

He merely nodded as she continued her list of instructions on his apology letters. He might tweak them a bit, to more accurately fit the situation. Ok.

I know was his quiet response to her telling him something he'd figured out. Of course using the words I think may have not been his best choice, but he didn't want to lie. He wanted to be honest. This had been the first real chance he'd had to explain himself to one of the Valentines since that night and he was trying really, really hard not to blow it. He wanted to ask questions, but wasn't sure this was the right time, at least not yet.

Zhenya was hurrying along to the library, her crystal on a string and her map in one hand, her gloved hand clutched to her chest in case it knocked into something as she walked past (ouch). She stopped just in front of the library, kneeled to the ground and put the map down. She just wanted to check to make sure she was actually going in the right direction, and it hadn't… moved or anything. *gulp*

Holding the crystal over the map, close to the library, she asked "Is my book here?" She had to move it up and down a few times around the map of the library, but it began to circle. GOOD! She was going in the right direction… only the circle was large, and it encompassed all of the library… hmm… it was a tricky search!

Fourth Flooooorr!!! IT WAS ON THE FOURTH FLOOOORRR.... somewhere. Ahem.

Zeke had practically sprinted most of the way from the Divination Tower, and was of course held up by the slow moving stair cases from time to time... but alas... he was HERE!!!

He walked the corridor, eyes moving over EVERYTHING in sight, the crystal and map still in hand.

He couldn't SEE it. Not yet.

"Uggghhhh," he moaned, pausing by a window ledge to give this scrying thing another go. He NEEDED to get his compass back.

With his map of the fourth floor in front of him, Zeke hovered his crystal above it, and thought long and hard about his compass. Where is it? WHERE IS IT? Whhheeeerrreeee?! The crystal didn't do much, but he figured his thoughts were too scattered to focus on the artifacts location.

Breathe in.... breathe out.....

Where on the fourth floor, is his compass? HHHMMM?

The crystal started moving again, though this time it swung in one direction and held its point there. THERE. At the library!!! ........ IT WAS IN THE LIBRARY!!!!

Pocketing the map hastily, with the crystal still in hand, Zeke turned on his heel and moved to enter the library.
