The Hogwarts Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading & Action Adventure Club - Sa13+
by the ever deplorable, always incorrigible, late as a date past its season ...

Disclaimer: All of the HP characters belong to J.K. Rowling, all the characters I create belong to me, as does the story but not the concepts created by J.K. Rowling who pwns, no infringement is implied. It's her world, I just live in it ;)

Political Disclaimer: No political ideologies were killed in the making of this post ... much less mentioned, or discussed even. Go somewhere else for that, this is a fic.

It was Saturday morning, which meant the club was having it's meeting. Missing a meeting of the club was not an option much less anything any member would seriously consider doing. You'd have to be nuts not to go. It also didn't hurt if you actually read that month's selection. For a book club, The Hogwarts Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading & Action Adventure Club got a lot of action adventure in between their chapters of Pride and Prejudice or Gone with the Wind.

Neville woke up reluctantly. He stretched and yawned and slammed his hand down hard a split second before the tiny hammer started slamming into the side of the bells on either side of the alarm. Harry, and Ron hated that silver demon as they called it because they liked to sleep in late on the weekends. Seamus and Dean were always up before eight because they jogged around the grounds, played quidditch, and pretty much trained themselves to be ready for any contingency that might arise that would require them to save the wizarding world, again.

They'd been doing it since their first year when Professor Mandelbrot had first recruited them. He was the secret professor at Hogwarts, the real Defense Against the Dark Arts master, and Professor Snape's true rival for that coveted position the not secret Defense Against the Dark Arts post. Professor Dumbledore really could be a meany about dangling carrots before as erm donkeys.

Neville yawned again and stretched his arms. Ron's legs lay where his pillows were. At least he hadn't fallen out of his bed again. Harry lay face down and bum in the air like an ostrich, probably because the world was a mad ridiculous place that every week seemed to want to kill him. Neville didn't envy him that. He looked at the clock. Time for a quick shower, a skim through the new book they were reading, getting dressed and getting out of the dormitory and to the secret tower, which really wasn't so secret it stood in plain sight but what lay in it, no one but the members of the Saturday Morning Book Club knew.

"C'mon Trevor," Neville said to his toad. Trevor loved taking baths. "Time for a soak and then we're off to see if the world needs saving again."

Trevor thought to himself. "That Potter bloke sure has it easy, having to fight one arch-nemesis over and over again. Neville and the reading club have to save the wizarding world almost every other week from certain peril. Once a term really did seem like an unfair walk in the park. And they get to sleep in on the weekends." He croaked at them as Neville walked past.

Ron muttered, "Danish please, and sausage ... I love you Hermione," in his sleep as they walked past. Really, did that boy only dream of food?

:paw1:

What's that? You've never heard of The Hogwarts Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading & Action Adventure Club. I would suggest you carefully reread your HP 1-7 and then come back here ... because I made it all up. This is AU. Third year, with a focus on the not-trio characters. And a few of my old creations and ... maybe Godzilla and apes if you're nice. Hope you come back. Tell all your friends. The action starts here.

First time reading your pic, and the name sort of drew me into reading the fic. It is kinda weird having "Marxist" as part of the title and the usage sure is weird. A secret book club. Amusing.

Enjoyed reading your fanfic, and I look forward to reading more of your work, Ottery.

REPLIES: Howdy y'all :hello: Hope you all have had a good Saturday Morning ;)

SenoritaMaxie: 1st Reader. Hey Maxie, you read too much, I mean I see your name in so many people's fics and then you write your own and you Nano and you go to school :dizzy: how do you find the time? :D But please don't leave my fic *grabsyouandtiesyoudown*

LilyLunaGinnyPotter: Hey LilyLuna thank you for reading

harita: Thank you harita, I'll try to post often, but at the very least, on Saturday Mornings  or afternoons

DracoMalfoygirl12: My works all over the place on SS if you want to read something I might have finished. My best piece is Love's Whimsical Melancholy  but this story is going to be a lot lighter, and more filled with action. I'm leaving the romance strictly in the romance section ... okay maybe one kiss or two for Neville & Trevor ;) but mostly action.

SeerCassandraTrelawney: Thank you. I saw how you had the whole section all nice and welcoming and spiffy and I just knew my next fic had to be here. Thank you for letting me feel so welcome.

Spork!:  Hopefully, you'll find more humorous things *ahem* amidst all the action, of course. ;)

princess of*hp*: All my fics are crazy princess, feel free to find them and see just how crazy I can get  my craziest has to be Mars Attacks! I love writing ...

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." Professor Mandelbrot quoted Jane Austen, "Is that so, Mr. Longbottom?!" he exclaimed as he sent off a stunning curse.

Neville ducked, threw himself on the floor rolled and stood up firing off a Jelly legs jinx, "I have to disagree wholeheartedly, sir."

Next to him Seamus kept firing curses at Dean who deflected them but not swiftly enough as he attempted to put Seamus on the defensive. Ernie MacMillan hung upside down while Hannah Abbot smiled wand in hand. She had caught him in a snare trap.

Professor Mandelbrot smiled at Hannah, "Well done, Ms. Abbot but how do you respond to this?" He fired a rope binding spell which Hannah jumped out of the way off, which of course hit Ernie and bound him in another bunch of ropes. "Don't drop the thread of the argument Ms. Abbot? Do we agree with Mr. Longbottom or nay?"

Curses flew, as well as quotes about Pride and Prejudice, it would have to be Gone with the Wind next week. The Hogwarts Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading & Action Adventure Club was a weird little set. Every weekend, and sometimes for special sessions during the week, they would gather under Professor Mandelbrots tutelage and they would discuss that month's book selection while they practiced their Defense Against the Dark Arts skills. Under the leadership of Professor Dumbledore they were at a moment's notice available to save the world as needed.

"I think Professor, that ..." Hannah fired off a stunning spell. "I think that it is true."

"Defend your position," he replied.

"I am!" Hannah objected.

"I meant the argument," the professor said smiling.

"Impedimenta!" Hannah shouted, then ducking behind a barrel she thought for a second. Something smashed in the distance. "Well, it would stand to reason, sir, that a man in possession of a large fortune would want to ... well he'd want to, grow his assets and ... well, the way to go about that is to invest wisely. Money alone is not the only asset a man has, and to be financially profitable is fine, but what profits the soul, or the heart of a man if he has a lot of money and no one to ... to share it and enjoy it with?"

Hannah looked up and found Professor Mandelbrot with his hands up. Neville having got the drop on him. Hannah smiled at Neville and he blushed. The Professor began to applaud. "Very well done the both of you."

Luna walked over to Ernie and with a wave of her wand, had released him. Rolf Scarmander standing underneath, caught Ernie as he fell. The boy with the tousled grey hair smiled at Luna who looked past him. Rolf was perpetually smiling at her and she didn't know if the boy was daft or if he had a problem with his lips that they just wouldn't stop grinning.

As the students gathered around the Professor Neville could be heard muttering, "I don't think so. Sounds just like Gran, always trying to get me married off or somethin' ... what if I don't like the girl? What if I don't wanna get married?"

"Yes, well Mr. Longbottom," Professor Mandelbrot said, dressed in robes of darkest black, a complete and utter opposite of the light brown of his hair and the hazel of his eyes. The Professor was a short muscular man with a short brown mustache and a glint of happiness in his eyes, a twinkle of mischief not unlike Dumbledore's, a grin from which sarcasm and a quick wit hung ever ready to be dispensed. "I'll make sure not to let you fall in love while you're in this reading group. i wouldn't want you off and married against your wishes, now would I?"

"Tea time?" Ernie asked hopefully as he took off the ropes that bound him, he'd been tied up about ten times so he had a lot of rope to untangle himself from.

"Tea and cakes and biscuits and strawberry tarts and the like," the Professor said, as the students all hungry after the early morning work out ran for the table by the entrance.

Just then however, in the center of the room Professor Dumbledore and Dobby apparated in the center of the room.

"I thought you couldn't apparate inside of Hogwarts," Ginny said as she got a strawberry tart. Hannah, Rolf, and Luna all turned to look at her.

"Hermione's always going on about it," Neville explained. "It says so in Hogwarts a History."

"I hate to interrupt your tea, but it seems the wizarding world is in peril again my students. I must call upon you for another assignment," Professor Dumbledore said.

"Dobby apparated the Headmaster. It is true you can't apparate inside of Hogwarts. Elf magic is different though," the little elf explained. He snapped his fingers and just like that the cup of tea that Neville had tipped over Hannah Abbot disappeared before it could soil her robes.

"What's the problem Headmaster?" Professor Mandelbrot asked wand at the ready to face any danger. Behind him his students listened ready for anything, because it was usually something they had not faced before. From a corner of the room a white cat sat and yawned for all the world bored with the proceedings. Trevor gave him a wary look and hopped away.

Hey Ottery, Thanks for the tip, and I am pleasantly surprised. I'm so happy to have another story of yours to follow.
I love your disclaimer! I also love what Hannah said. Smart girl."Impedimenta!" Hannah shouted, then ducking behind a barrel she thought for a second. Something smashed in the distance. "Well, it would stand to reason, sir, that a man in possession of a large fortune would want to ... well he'd want to, grow his assets and ... well, the way to go about that is to invest wisely. The saxophone played down the wet brightly lit street wafting down with the scents on the wind of the barbecue place, the usual urban smells of car exhaust mixing with the trees in the parks and the smells from the factories and coffee shops and restaurants. Still, the song played, a girl sang with all her heart pouring out of every syllable every note heartfelt painting a picture of heartache and longing.

:music: Not one caress and I am wanting to be filled with pleasure
not one caress and me dreaming with what could be
not one caress and me looking for your taste on my lips
not one caress and me waiting and me wanting you to make love :music:
~translated from the song by Ana Gabriel

The sad song floated through the streets of London. Solemnity Fields walked out of the pub. She had a date with a werewolf. Vengeance was a dish best served cold with copious amounts of excessively unnecessary violence and mayhem. And Fields so wanted vengeance against Neville Longbottom.

The boy she was supposed to be meeting came highly recommended among dark circles. The boy was a werewolf, an assassin, a hired hand. Exactly how best to use that tool she did not know yet, but there would be time enough for that in the future. For now, she wanted to see what this boy was capable of and whether he would work out, then if he did she'd worry about whether or not his style of combat was compatible with the Hunter.

She turned one last time to look at the pub and smiled at the girl's song. She sang so beautifully, someone who'd obviously felt that heartache. Solemnity Fields knew about heartache but she didn't want to sing her pain as much as she wanted to share it, in the most physical, painful manifestation of her own emotional hurts. A broken heart hurt more than a few broken bones, and it would not heal as quickly.

:paw1:

Not much, but something for y'all to chew on until I return ... and I shall return. Sooner, I hope. LOL Holidays and all, my apologies, and loves ♥.

Hi Ottery! I have to say that I love this story idea, the whole book club study is very clever. And I love the name you have for the professor. "Mandlebrot" Did you think of that name, or you heard it before and gave it to your character? It rings of authority, power, wisdom, courage, and mischievousness. Solemnity Fields walked out of the pub. She had a date with a werewolf. Vengeance was a dish best served cold with copious amounts of excessively unnecessary violence and mayhem. And Fields so wanted vengeance against Neville Longbottom.
:worried: What did Neville do to her? Or maybe he doesn't share her thoughts on things of the heart.A broken heart hurt more than a few broken bones, and it would not heal as quickly.
What ever it is he seriously needs to watch out for her.:gasp:Conners, you're always here ... *glomps* *sniffles* now on to the action adventure.
Always. :glomp:Great post, and I can't wait to read more. I'll be watching for your next post. Good-night and I'll catch ya later.:hello:

I begin with a joke then we continue our story, shall we?

Two little boys, ages 8 and 10, were excessively mischievous. They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew all about it. If any mischief occurred in their town, the two boys were probably involved. The boys' mother heard that a preacher in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The preacher agreed, but he asked to see them individually. So the mother sent the 8 year old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the preacher in the afternoon. The preacher, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, "Do you know where God is, son ?"

The boy's mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there wide-eyed with his mouth hanging open. So the preacher repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God?"

Again, the boy made no attempt to answer. The preacher raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, "Where is God?!"

The boy screamed and bolted from the room, ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him. When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, "What happened?"

The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time, GOD is missing, and they think we did it!"

Connie: Conners, you're always reading which is so cool. Mandelbrot is a word I knew, I just had no clue what it meant. I looked it up, it has to do with math and my interest waned from there ... I'm an English major so sue me :P you can wiki it though, but don't ask me to explain it.

Solemnity Fields has a sister named Strawberry  and she may or may not appear in this story. I just HATE sitting at the story trying to figure out a name for a character so I usually pick something that sounds really cool, hence Mandelbrot and Solemnity.

SeerCassandraTrelawney: Thank you Cassandra, and will do. I'm getting back on the writing horse and as always, my HP Fanfiction is leading the charge

harita: I was hoping it was something more artistic  and :shifty: just tween us harita that cat wasn't just sitting there ... *ahem* he's a character too *ahem*

But now, onto the story.

:loved:

A cold winter's chill gripped the world that night, in an embrace that promised only to grow colder. Love is a fleeting thing, he thought to himself as he shoved his hands deeper into the pockets of his long black fuzzy coat. It was funny how he liked to wear fuzzy jumpers and shirts. If he 'wolfed out' as Tommy liked calling it, then he'd be covered in a long grey fur coat of his own, natural and a lot warmer too. Of course, the blood pumped more furiously, his heart beat a million times faster, and through his eyes he could mostly see red, that and he snuffled, drooled, loped, breathed heavily and howled at the moon. Mainly if he was angry but he mostly turned into a werewolf when he was angry. Being an assassin meant killing people, not 'wolfing out' and then killing people. Still, some people made a simple job difficult and well, it was not like anyone ever hired him to kill nice people anyways, right?

He stood under the lamplight and waited. His contact would be a girl, he hoped she'd be pretty but from what Booster had told him she was a tall, red haired girl with large gorgeous lips she painted a floozy red, and a mean kick. How Booster knew that, well, Alek knew better than to ask, Booster was not a ladies man.

He sighed, his hot breath turning into soft mist to join the foggy London night haze. Alek sighed again and started to walk off. He had waited for an hour already, and he wasn't getting paid for it.

"Are you Wolf Hunter?" a voice called out in the empty street.

The dark haired boy turned around. He could see no one anywhere within listening distance. But he knew better than to merely trust his sight. She stood by the lamppost he had just walked away from, under an invisibility cloak. He could smell the faint traces of butterbeer under the Chanel.

He growled.

"Are you or aren't you? I haven't got a lot of time to be wasting," she complained. He could smell the elder of her wand drawn and ready to fire at his heart. Alek wondered what kind of spell a made up, princess, snob would use on a boy from the wrong side of the ... oh blast the tracks, the wrong side of the wizarding world.

"You called me honeybunny, you're the one wasting my time. Come find me when you want to talk seriously and you're willing to stop laying these stupid little amateur's games."

Alek started to walk away, and stopped as a spell blast scorched the sidewalk a step ahead of him. The sound of a robe falling made him turn. He caught his breath.

"I know you," he said in a whisper that carried softly on the wind.

:O

AN: Not much again, but something ... ;)

While everyone went about their nightly business in the Gryffindor Common Room--whether that business be working on another of Professor Snape's overlong parchments on potions and their myriad uses, misuses, proper handling, making and smelling etc. ad nauseum; or playing a game of chess as Ron and Harry were doing in a corner quietly away from everyone, Hermione next to them, her nose buried in a book looking up every now and again to watch Ron in a funny way, but never so long that he caught her looking and never when she thought someone watched them--in another corner Neville, Trevor who sat on his shoulder, Ginny who was throwing a quaffle at Dean as he stood by them hung around gloomily silent buried deep in thoughts about what Professor Dumbledore had told them earlier that Saturday.

"This is just as serious a threat as Lord Voldemort. While perhaps not as ... headline grabbing as Harry's exploits, this does not diminish the danger of this group of individuals," the Headmaster's voice caught everyone's rapt attention.

Outside of the tower walls, Neville could see through the windows the sky becoming overcast and as the dark clouds crept through the early afternoon sky they swallowed the sun like a fanged beast out of Norse mythology, a ravenous wolf child of the gods eating the star and all its brightness.

"I've never heard of them, Headmaster," Professor Mandelbrot admitted. "I've been around the dark arts as an auror in my time but I can't say that they've ever registered on the Ministry's radar."

"Not surprisingly, Gregorius, they work clandestinely. It seems they're like an octopus with their tentacles in everything but the main body safely hidden away from the light." The Headmaster sighed, and Hannah shivered as if a cold wet finger had been run up her spine. Rolf looked at Luna but her expression seemed a thousand miles away. "They were called the hounds of hell in my day," the professor remarked. "They are an old alliance that has hidden itself for these many long years. They've gone by different aliases except their true one, the hellfire club, the armaggedon brigade, the guardians of night, the dark guard ... the list goes on. But only one name truly matters, the name they've kept hidden throughout the ages."

Everyone stood around expectantly for the professor to say, but he simply smiled and stared back at them politely, the twinkle in his eye as merry as the room was gloomy.

Finally, Ginny Weasley, grown tired of simply staring asked what everyone was thinking, "And what's their true name Professor Dumbledore? How are we supposed to know them?"

"Hmm. Oh, beats the devil out of me, Ms. Weasley, that's why I'm sending you all to find out." He replied smiling. Neville, Seamus and Dean all about wanted to fall down in shock at the unexpected reply.

Ernie asked, "How are we to do that Professor?"

"Obviously you'll have to go undercover, or go fact finding and clue searching all around the globe, the usual methods ... obviously you'll need the use of one of the apparition rings, which the professor will hand out once he's divided his squads. While they work, it's only outside of Hogwarts so please remember you need Dobby or another of the house elves to apparate you outside the castle grounds. I'll leave the details to Professor Mandelbrot."

Professor Dumbledore had handed their Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor a file containing within it information about The Hellfire Club as the group was dubbing itself now. What little was known was that they were a shadowy group that worked behind the scenes, and that with the rumors of the return of the Dark Lord they had been sending out agents to see if the former Death Eaters were interested in possibly allying themselves with them.

Nothing had been decided at the meeting, everything was on hold until Calliope and Storm's return to the castle.

"I wish Calliope was here already," Dean said dropping the quaffle.

Ginny shot him a look of shock.

"I dunno, things just seem so much easier when she's around," the boy replied to the unasked question.

Seamus came running down the steps from the boy's dormitory and at a glance picked them all up. It was late, but they could tell from the grandfather clock that they still had time to wander the castle before their curfew. He said nothing but touched Dean on the shoulder and walking past him led the way out of the common room along with the others.

"Take that Harry," Ron said triumphantly. "Check and mate."

"Oh, eat my rook, why don't you," Harry replied a bit put out. The thought of a madman out to kill him was really disconcerting and the odd behavior of Professor Lupin was trying too. It wasn't easy to concentrate, not that he would have won against Ron but at least he would not have lost so spectacularly.

"If I had been playing I would have used the Fisher gambit, you know," Harry's white bishop admonished him.

"Oh shut it," Harry said to the little Bishop knocking his hat off.

Hermione smiled at Ron, who smiled back at her before running off after Crookshanks again who was making his way to the dormitory stairs and likely up to Scabbers.

"Oh no you don't."

Ginny stopped watching them. She didn't belong to Harry's little group, she had her own but she would have liked very much to be there. To be able to talk to Harry to find out what bothered him what niggled at his miind. She walked outside of the portrait saddened that she could not rescue her white knight the way he had saved her.

"You all right, Ginny?" Neville asked her.

"I'm fine, Nevs," she said quietly, giving him the private nickname she had for him. They trailed behind the others as they walked out to the gardens where they could talk more freely and not be overheard.

AN: Hope you all liked that, I'm trying to throw in a little bit of mystery, yes the cat is important, no I haven't forgotten him, yes he was in the room the whole time Dumbledore was speaking ... perhaps I should write him into this ... in a minute if I don't forget. And most importantly, yes, what happened before in London is happening simultaneously with the events at Hogwarts or later that night actually ... and more importantly even than that NO! I have not forgotten my readers or their replies. Without you girls I wouldn't really feel as inspired to write, which I am, check out my Lj I write there too though not near as much because I don't have readers  yes that's a pathetic attempt at an invitation. Please go, if you like to read original fiction.

Moving on ... to Replies!

Connie: You're always here or at any of my fics really Connie. Thank you. I'm glad you liked the joke, my aunt sent it to me ... she usually just sends :spam: but ... every now and then is a gem. As for why that girl thinks she's got a grudge against Neville ... uhm, did I say she had it out against Neville? :shifty: There's probably a really flimsy, this is why I'm a villain reason so ... stay tuned to find out.

SeerCassandraTrelawney: That's usually what I call my Kellybear or my Bellapoo  it slipped out I guess  But he does know her ... question is does she know him? :gasp:

harita: It's a white cat so you know it's not Professor McGonagall. I should use her sometime I should ... as for the cat being Harry ... :shifty: did I say the cat was a metamorphmagus? No? Good cuz I still haven't, I mean he could as easily be an animagus :shifty: or if I'm really inspired ... *cough* by Connie of course, it could be a werecat  or maybe it's just Prince from my other fic. ;) Not saying just yet ...

Obi-Wan K'Lari: Lari you're here :glomp: You always read my stuffs  I'm glad you liked my post and the joke. All I can say is, stay tuned for more action adventure and mystery. You know you love cliffies as much as I do.

Notes: What you should all be wondering while I think up the next post:

Why is that girl looking for vengeance after Neville?
Who is the cat?
Is God missing? :P

What you shouldn't be asking yourself or me for any reason at all:

Who is Calliope and Storm?
Why are they really meeting in the garden?
Where's Professor Lupin in all this?
And where's the steampunk?

I can picture this in my mind as if it were in a HP move. Love it.

Solemnity Fields could not shake off the feeling of annoyance at that boy. Who the devil did he think he was, talking to her that way? Speaking to her with all the familiarity of a close friend instead of the reserved manner of a hired hand. If she didn't need him to kill Neville Longbottom then she would not have bothered with this trash. But obviously an assassin wasn't going to be some refined gentleman from her side of polite society.

"You're falling asleep again on me, Fields," her friend Marcy exclaimed as she took a sip from her tea cup.

"I'm sorry, darling," Solemnity replied with all the usual false affection. "I was just daydreaming about ... shoes." Vapid heiress, Solemnity had down pat. It was a pity really, her friend did not have to play act the part at all.

Marcy for her part did not buy any of it. Solemnity obviously was lost in thinking about Chad, the new boy at the Academy of Sorcerial Arts. The little witch was probably plotting how she could get Chad's attentions away from her. Marcy knew perfectly well that Solemnity knew that Chad had eyes only for her. But Fields was not beneath scheming, lying or gossiping to get what she wanted. This Marcy knew because she had helped Solemnity win the Queen of Summer Pageant by spreading rumors around about Brittany Morningstar last year. Well, if the silly little tart thought that her plotting and schemes were going unnoticed, poor Solemnity. Far be it from Marcy though to dissuade her of her misconceptions.

Solemnity for her part could not stop thinking about this boy, Wolf Hunter. The name was so utterly, completely and stupidly obviously an alias. She could not stop thinking about the boy. Wolf was in her heart and on her mind, and for the first time in a long time Solemnity was not trying to kill Neville Longbottom in her head. She sighed. The biscuit in her hand now nothing more than crushed powder.

The wind blew fallen leaves around the girls as they sat on the Quad, Marcy chattering endlessly about this inanity or that while secretly plotting ways to discredit Solemnity in front of Chad. Solemnity at peace if somewhat restless with curiosity about the boy she had hired to destroy Neville Longbottom.

Hello everyone ... my apologies for not replying last post ... I love my babies, but they can't be quiet to save their lives  and you really can't concentrate on a story when you've got squabbling children and a baby who wants on Daddy's lap every three seconds :xd: I'm not complaining soon enough she'll be borrowing the car and I'll be crying because no one wants me to pet them and give them attentions and love  but that's for tomorrow. Also, my last post was ... uhm, badly edited. I went back, fixed added ... reread if you like it's nothing major important so if you don't you didn't miss anything just a few spelling corrections and a new sentence or two to show what REALLY good friends Marcy and Solemnity are ... :mwaha: Onto replies and then more story. Everyone is asleep, I can concentrate now ... ;) Oh, and Happy New Year to y'all! I know it's going to be marvelous. :yoshi:

Connie, uhm, they are sweet ... sweetly deceptive, sweetly conniving, sweetly Machiavellian ... it comes of attending The Academy of Sorcerial Arts :P

Obi Wan, :swfight: you know I have to have a little itty bitty romance in all my stories  I can't help it ... I'm a shipper at heart :xd:

Cassandra, thank you for reading. I'm glad you like it. I'm hoping to update more often and add more adventure to this story ... so ... let's get on the way then, no?

:wizard:

"I dunno Gin, I was thinking maybe Mr. Darcy wanted to cultivate that attitude of aloofness so that he could keep himself from actually feeling anything genuine for anyone, didn't you?" Neville remarked as they walked around the charred remains of the manor in the middle of London.

Professor Mandelbrot had sent them to investigate. It was the tenth such fire and suspected burglary of an important wizarding figure in the last month. But for the fact that they were important officials at the Ministry of Magic or powerful wizards Dumbledore and the professor might not have had their suspicious aroused, but there had been the suggestion of arson used to disguise thefts and with the disappearance of a young girl and Calliope still not back at Hogwarts ... perhaps just happenstance but Professor Mandelbrot did not like to think so. The dark coven they were chasing likely lay at the center of all this.

"I'm not talking about the book Neville, I'm talking about this," the red haired girl pointed to something funny on the floor. She moved her foot over the burnt ashes and fallen timbers covering her face to keep the scent of wetness and acrid burntness from going up into her nose and down into her lungs and causing a coughing fit.

"Oh," the boy said.

"Exactly," Ginny replied. "I was thinking more along the lines of someone trying to cultivate a fire spell."

The scorch marks on the marble floor were unquestionably the mark of a fire spell. Ginny bent down. Something even more curioser lay beneath the scorch mark.

"Mighty curious aren't you?" a voice came at them and in front of them where the stairways would have been a wall crumbled and fell to ash revealing three very tall men, dressed all in black with tattoos that covered half their faces.

"I suppose you're all constables?" Ginny asked.

"Aye, you suppose right missy," another voice came from behind them. Ginny did not bother turning around. She turned to look at Neville but it was already too late.

:O

:yoshi::kitty:

"Stop playing the fool boy, and do your bloody job. If it were anybody else you would have already been delivering the corpse." He taunted.

"I'm wondering how it is I'm supposed to kill him," the boy complained, dropping the spoon and letting it clatter on his plate the echo loud in the quiet little pub.

"Murder making you lose your appetite?"

The boy slammed his hand down causing the spoon to jump on the plate that jumped on the table as he growled. The other patrons inside of The Death of Romance Pub and Grill, looked over to see the boy, behind the counter Madame Alexander kept on polishing the bar top but her eyes had flashed over to the rifle over the bar. She knew her patrons well, and Wolf knew she loaded it with silver bullets.

"You know you're a despicable ..."

"I've heard it all before kid. I'm your friend not your conscience, and most definitely not your client. I just think it's odd you care about her ... still," after a pause he added, "Or is this something to do with Longbottom?"

Wolf wanted nothing more than to jump over the table right this instant and tear the heart out of the gray haired boy sitting across the table from him. They were only friends in the loosest sense of the word. Allies more like brought together by a common affliction not common desires. He belonged to the thieves guild and on occasion he had helped Wolf out, but friends ... that was a stretch.

Wolf stood up abruptly, dropped his napkin on the table and let the sound of his galleons clattering on the wood say his farewell for him. The other boy watched him walk out. The boy really was too serious, but that was to be expected from an assassin one supposed, the life of a thief and rogue was infinitely more fun, the old cat thought to himself.

Minutes had passed before the thief went out for a walk but he did not get far before he realized he was being followed by men in black.

"I knew being friends with you was going to get me killed sooner or later, Wolf," the thief said aloud.

:mwaha:

AN: Vagueness ... the fact that Wolf's first name really is wolf but not Hunter  and the knowledge that he knows the girl (still not telling you how :P and Neville too :O at least the cat thief implied it, and who is the cat thief neways, no? And is he really dead?) Obviously, I can answer nothing but hopefully you all will feel a little more of the menace in this story ... I mean it's action and adventure so let's start threatening our characters, no? Hope you like I want to try posting more often and obviously  I don't want to lose the whole book club thread. ;) Hope you like, please feel free to tell me if you didn't like something or if you really liked something what it was. I can take criticism and I really do appreciate it. :glomp: Happy New Year everyone :bubbly: It's going to be fun ... and a whole new decade wow.

Hey ~Otts, tremendous post. I hope you know, my saying the girls are, "sweet", was a sarcastic comment. I should have made that clear. I log in again, and it knocks me off. Anyway, I love what's going on in your story. Except, I have a way out idea who the white cat is. Can I PM you ONLY to tell you who I think it is? Argent Coppers was a grey haired boy, when he wasn't a grey haired four legged cat. That was the interesting thing about being a werecat, a boy one minute, a cat the next, and in either iteration he was always a thief. And if there was one skill that thieving had taught him, above the art of stealthful acquisition and illegal withdrawal, it was how to make a quick escape.

"I suddenly find that I've got the urge to buy bologna," the boy said and walked into an open butcher shop.

"Sorry, we're closed," a muggle man replied in a thick Russian accent.

"Do you have a back door?" the boy asked.

The back door led to a dark alley were men in black robes with tattoos that went up to their faces waited. The door opened and out ran a small grey cat. It stopped to meow at them and ran off in the distance. They ignored the creature and waited in the shadows.

The butcher meanwhile threw the boy's clothes in a rubbish bin and pocketed the gold coins he had given him to ignore what he had seen. Yuri believed in magic, and at 67 years he had seen a lot of things, so this he took with the usual aplomb of his people. Surprises were for young people and the naive, at his age he'd seen everything so a boy turning into a cat was nothing new.

Professor Mandelbrot paced the long empty space in front of his desk watching the candle wax melting down with no word of Ginny and Neville's return, or Calliope's appearance. Soon enough curfew would be over and still the Gryffindors had not returned. He sighed and paced his owl Bertrand sitting on his owly perch above the bookcase waiting and watching.

And if you stay on SS without doing anything it automatically signs you out. I always hit the "Preview Post" button when I'm writing a long post ... keeps SS from thinking I fell asleep.

So tell me who the cat is already? After you do, I'll probably change it anyways. There's nothing I hate more than my readers guessing  so if they do and there's wiggle room I'll change the course of the story unless it's super uber important and can't be altered. I can't help it. This reminds me of the old movies. "Hey mister, Can you spare a quarter for a cup o coffee?'' (not an exact quote) The way that guy is so cool and nonchalant. So tell me who the cat is already? After you do, I'll probably change it anyways. Oh well, all right, just it's way out there and I didn't want to be laughed at by everyone. You had said that you might (borrow) my idea of a wearcat, and so, I thought maybe you might have reinvented Dumbledores little sister as a werecat. And that when she died, she came back to life, and lives in the castle. There you have it. Hope nobody thinks I'm an idiot now. :loved: I still love your story, and I look forward to your next post.

Neville for all his lovable clumsiness, forgetful tardiness and shy boyishness could on occasion try to compensate and do something entirely stupidly heroic. *Otty uses and adverb just to show you can* Ginny did not know that like herself who was always one trying to prove her own merits in a long line of brothers with extremely auspicious credentials and her own only visible credit being that she was the only girl, Neville wanted to show that he could be great. This of course was not always followed by judicious judgement.

So as Ginny stood over the array in the burnt house surrounded by men in black robes and dark tattoos she figured to send out a secret distress signal and allow the villains to take them perhaps find out what she could about who they were and where they were headquartered. Neville however, had other plans.

"I suppose you're all constables?" Ginny asked.

"Aye, you suppose right missy," another voice came from behind them. Ginny did not bother turning around, she knew already they were grievously outnumbered. She turned to look at Neville, to tell him to play along and lie low but it was already too late.

"Y-y-you're not ... y-you're not taking us anywhere. Stupefy!"

Once the first salvo was shot Ginny could do nothing but back up her friend's play. She ducked, touching the array she felt the power still emanating from it and fired a spell at the man behind her, "Inflamo!" The man tried deflecting the spell but was flung back by the explosion anyways.

Neville fired a Jelly Legs jinx which missed, though not by much, the man angered by the audacity of the boy fired back with a killing curse. Neville stood in shock as the green light of death came at him but Ginny standing up levitated a rock to block the spell. At least, that had been her first intention. All the stones from the fallen wall rushed at Neville and the blast hit the rocks.

"H-How how'd you do that?" Neville asked cowering on the floor. "I thought you were going to ... stone me."

Ginny ran over grabbed the boy's hand and started running. "I don't know Neville but we need to get out of here."

The three men in black robes followed after them over the fallen stones. Ginny and Neville ran down the little hill the house had sat on into the streets of a nice muggle suburb.

"We stick out like sore thumbs, Ginny, where are we going to hide from 'em?"

"I don't know Nevs. I don't know." She said.

They ran down the streets holding hands as the afternoon waned and darkness promised to envelope the world. They turned down a darkened alley where a cat meowed at them. He looked up at them and decided to follow them instead.

"These two look like an easy mark," the cat thought to himself.

Elsewhere, a girl in a long red cloak walked atop the buildings of the city, watching the muggles running around beneath her. She was hiding from Death Eaters, the Ministry and well from Professor Dumbledore. It was the latter that had her most afraid. She ...

Once the first salvo was shot Ginny could do nothing but back up her friend's play. She ducked, touching the array she felt the power still emanating from it and fired a spell at the man behind her, "Inflamo!" The man tried deflecting the spell but was flung back by the explosion anyways.
Is this what she had found under the scorch marks on the marble floor?:hmm: A residual of the magic that had been used there? She ...

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, OK sense you said you'll be back later. If she (:litebulb:little red riding hood) is who I think she is, I've been waiting to know more about her. Most spellbinding post ~Otts, can't wait till you get back!

Elsewhere, a girl in a long red cloak walked atop the buildings of the city, watching the muggles running around beneath her. She was hiding from Death Eaters, the Ministry and well from Professor Dumbledore. It was the latter that had her most afraid. Calliope did not have a lot of role models in her life, and men even less so. Her father had died when she was to young, her mother had refused to talk about him and until the day that Storm almost killed her she did not even know a thing about the wizarding world.

"I hate this form," a red haired boy said, as he walked up behind Calliope who was leaning on top of a gargoyle looking down into the city at night.

Calliope turned to look at him, "I know love," she said and went over and kissed him on the cheek and ruffled his red mane. "But I think it's cute. You look like a Weasley, Storm," the girl added giggling.

"Remind me to pay back Marl when we get back to Oz," the boy said.

"Don't be silly," Calliope replied. "It's barely September we won't be going home until the winter break, and that's months away."

"Do you mean to say we're going to be living on the streets until then?!" the boy asked in shock and exasperation.

"Of course not silly, it's just ..."

"What's so important about that stupid brooch anyways? Why do you think the headmaster wants it so bad?" the boy asked settling down on the gravelly rooftop by their magical fire. He rubbed his hands up and down his arms as he had them crossed trying to feel warm. It was so difficult to be warm in human form, and the clothes! Gah but he longed to be naked and free.

Calliope's red cloak fluttered in the rooftop winds. She walked over to the red haired boy and sat next to him, sighed, and promptly leaned her head over on his shoulder, wrapped her arms around his arm and sighed again looking into the fire.

"I suppose you're right, Storm. It must be just some stupid brooch, otherwise Dumbledore would have gone for it himself," the girl said. There had not been many male role models in her life, nor did Calliope need any, there had been enough strong women in her life to show her how to be a lady, but there was something sweet and kind and fatherly about the school's headmaster that made her want to do her best for him, no matter the issue. She hated letting him down.

"If that stupid cat just hadn't ..." she sighed.

"If I wasn't stuck in this form, I would have show that feline a thing or two."

"Oh, Storm," the girl said and kissed the boy on the cheek. She could almost fall in love with him ... if he were a boy, which he was, but he wasn't really. Life was too complicated. Couldn't things go back to being simple, before Hogwarts, before Professor Mandelbrot and the reading club? She only wished they could but knew they wouldn't.

I finished reading the first book in The Looking Glass Wars, I don't remember the title, I think that's it  and when I went looking for the sequel, I was still reading the first book mind you, I couldn't remember the author's name. The book is fluffy like cotton candy, not filling, not really a good take on Alice in Wonderland but a good fast read. I love/hate what he did with the Cheshire Cat and the Hatter but honestly except for the cute little romance at the beginning with Alice and the guard boy  I swear I'll remember his name in a second ... yes, I finished it a few days ago ... it was a not very remarkable book. Lacks description but dang if the story doesn't move ... it's all plot, plot, plot which this story is not. On a side note ... I'm sick of Alice in Wonderland everywhere and I'm so not interested in seeing the new Disney version ... but I know I will. Here's (http://naera.deviantart.com/art/Alice-in-Wonderland-cake-142478605) proof I've seen Alice everywhere, comix, movies, books ... and I want one for my birthday, where's Kelly so she can get crackin' on it. :whip: :xd:

Consequently, this story is now my take on Alice in Wonderla-- *Is dragged out by Teddy, blindfolded and slapped by a slapping squad* O: Oh gawds where's my reason ... I think I left it in my other robes ...

:yoshi:

Solemnity had her reasons for hating Neville Longbottom. They would never come to light. The diary she had entrusted any and all thoughts on the matter had been destroyed by fire ages ago. That she had set the fire that destroyed her diary while in the hands of a very nasty boy, one stupid enough to think he could embarrass her by reading excerpts aloud in school, was inconsequential. Simply because the cause of her hatred for Neville was so deeply ingrained in her heart and in her mind.

Oh but she could remember that day so vividly, walking by the lake in spring watching the petals fall from the trees, new flowers bursting in bloom, the scent of new born fauna everywhere.

"But really, does it matter?"

Solemnity jumped up suddenly from her reverie, the gravely voice of that boy so familiar yet unknown to her intruding her mind. She looked up to see him standing there, his long hair blowing in the wind, a roguish grin on his face and that tattered black long coat in spite of the clear beautiful fall day. It was fall but it still felt like summer, warm and balmy.

"What are you doing here?" she asked looking around and noticing that she was alone sitting in the quad at one of the many tables for the students.

"I'm here to see you of course, sugarbear," Wolf said politely.

"You insolent wretch. Who do you think you are taking such liberties with me?"

"Oh, I haven't begun to take liberties with you yet, babydoll," the boy said taking the chair across from her, turning it and sitting down leaning his arms on the chair's back. The look he gave her betrayed all his intentions.

"You insolent little wretch."

"You already said that, honeybunny," Wolf replied. "I was here to tell you that you should forget the whole Longbottom thing and just move on. You're pretty and you're young and you really shouldn't be wasting your time on revenge. Life's too short to be vindictive."

Solemnity felt his hand touching hers. She shivered with delight at his touch. Solemnity's heart started beating too quickly and she found herself feeling a lot warmer and suddenly very restless.

"Let go of me you cad," she said. Freeing her hand the girl made to stand up and slap Wolf all in one motion but just as quickly he had stood up, thrown the chair over and had grabbed Solemnity's hand with his. Wolf kissed the palm of her hand and the girl moaned softly in delight. "You ... insolent ..."

"Wretch. I know. You said that already, princess," the boy replied and made to kiss her neck. Solemnity closed her eyes and melted into his arms.

"Fields. Miss Fields. I say Miss Fields really!"

Solemnity looked up to find the headmistress standing in front of her, Professor Drakesvex slamming his yardstick across her desk and the whole class laughing. The girl blushed. Solemnity had been daydreaming in Arithmancy, but really, could you blame her?

"Miss Fields, I was just coming to inform you about your upcoming nomination for Princess Frost in the Fall Ball," the headmistress began.

Solemnity couldn't help blushing in spite of the honor, and there was that vicious little cow Marcy laughing it up for all the world like the most auspicious thing to happen to her in her life.

:pirate2:

Ginny Weasley had just enough strength to sit on a tin garbage can with the lid mercifully on top, while Neville Longbottom sat himself down next to her on the wet ground not caring that his pants' bottoms would get wet.

"This is ..." Ginny didn't know what it was but it was not what she had planned nor what they were supposed to be doing.

"I bet you this kind of thing never happens to Professor Lupin or Professor Mandelbrot," Neville said punctuating it with a sigh.

The alley smelled something awful and in the darkening night Ginny knew they had to get back to Hogwarts soon if they planned on getting anything for dinner and to report what information they had, which was nothing really, to the Headmaster and Professor Mandelbrot.

A grey haired cat walked up to them and stared. The cat meowed at Ginny as if to ask, "What are you doing here?"

"Hello Puss," Gin said and got up to bend down and pet the cute little scamp. "Are you lost or something? Because you're too pretty to be a plain ol' alley cat."

From out of Neville's shirt pocket Trevor peered out and croaked in objection. "Don't trust that hairy little beast," Neville's toad said, "he's no more a cat than I am a tory."

"Stay out of this toad or I'll have you for dinner," the cat hissed back.

Trevor taken aback jumped out of Neville's shirt pocket and started away.

"Oy, Trevor, come back!" Neville said, too tired to chase after his toad but too scared with the cat around not to.

Ginny took her wand out and fired a firecracker spell into the air. The signal for one of the Hogwarts' elves to come find them to apparate them back to school.

"I'm taking you back with me," the red haired girl said, bending down to pick up the cat.

"Excellent love, but where exactly is back, anyways?" Argent asked but of course all Ginny could hear was the soft meowings of a cute fluffy kitten and she held him tight and tried to feel that today perhaps had not been a complete failure.

Down the alley the sound of tin garbage cans could be heard tipping over as Neville staggered around trying to catch Trevor who was trying to make a break for the city and a pub he knew nearby.

At any rate, poor Solemnity, caught daydreaming in the presence of that awful Marge, who I really don't like. ~Otts, this post, all of it was spectacular, and I have to get ready for my son's 17th birthday party, so, what I'm trying to say is I don't have the time I'd like to have on saying all the things I love about this post, and the whole story. :yoshi::kitty::wizard::pirate2::glomp::mwaha: :loved::head:<_<:ron:

Wolf Hunter was not his real name. It was a silly little alias that he had picked up along the way, something to keep the Ministry and other's off his scent. If they thought he was a werewolf hunter they would never suspect that he himself was a werewolf. And indeed, Wolf did chase wolves, and werewolves but not to put them down as everyone suspected instead he helped them escape the country or disguise themselves amongst the muggles.

It was tiring work playing the part of hunter, refugee, escapee and contrabandist. Wolf wore so many masks it was difficult to remember who he was and what he was doing at any given moment. He would wake up in the middle of the night and wonder where he was and who he was supposed to be just then. Often he wrote it on the palm of his hand with an invisible tint spell or a temporary tattoo that changed images, something to give him a clue of who he was supposed to be.

At the moment however, he was Wolf Hunter, assassin. His intended target was Neville Longbottom and his dilemma aside from getting into the second hardest Wizarding institution in all of bloody Great Britain (the first being Gringotts of course) was that he did not know how to get into and out of Hogwart's without getting caught and not having someone on the inside to help.

The Ministry had enough on it's hands with the missing Death Eater, Sirius Black and their having posted dementors around the school only made the assignment that much more difficult. So, while on the one hand Wolf had a guarantee of non-vigilance on the other he had a surefire means of getting a one way ticket to Azkaban.

As if that wasn't enough, Argent had gone missing and Booster had left the country until the heat died down. The ministry had raided the offices last week on a hint that Sirius Black had been spotted there looking for a way out of the country or a thief-sneak to get him into Hogwarts. Argent was of course perfect for the job but given all his taunting, Wolf hadn't thought to ask him when he'd had the chance.

The truth of it all though, and Wolf did not admit this even to himself, is that he did not want to kill Neville Longbottom. He knew the boy, hardly old best chums and all, but he knew Neville Longbottom like he knew Solemnity Fields.

The past was myriad pieces of a puzzle and Wolf's past was shrouded in mystery, even from him ...

~Otts, there isn't anything I can highlight and comment on this whole post. I start highlighting at the beginning and can't stop with the sentence, because the next one is even better, and then the next and next, and next... So since I can't highlight the whole post, I'll say the first sentence was great, and each one after that was even better. My heart says I like wolf, and I want him to succeed with what he has to do. On the other hand, I certainly don't want him to kill Neville! I can't wait for your next post. And one more thing, before I jump over to Human Nature, I fill badly for your precious baby. Teething is so painful, and what makes it worse is babies don't understand why they hurt so badly. The past was myriad pieces of a puzzle and Wolf's past was shrouded in mystery, even from him. There were pieces he could recollect, there were pieces that he knew were suspect, and there were large pieces that did not fit because of all the missing pieces of his past. Among the memories he had however was a spring day with Neville Longbottom, by a river with boats and Solemnity Fields. It was a hazy memory but then again that had been a hazy day.

Wolf was just a young cub then, barely ten and visiting an uncle outside of the village of Someting Smeltings renowned for its metalsmiths. New to the place Wolf didn't know any one and the grown ups done with him, occupied themselves with 'catching up' and gossiping about relatives they hadn't seen, places they'd been to, or how such and such had fallen from grace, leaving the young boy with nothing to do. Wolf walked out of the house and wandered around the cottage, and soon grew bored he walked down the country lane eventually following the soft trickling sounds of the rushing water, whereupon boats with gentlemen dressed in white and ladies under large lacy parasols punted downstream. He waved and they waved back as he walked opposite their destination, upstream under the shade of the willow trees.

"I don't think it's very lady like Grandma for you to be driving, maybe you should let Uncle Algie do it," a voice protested softly.

"Nonsense," an older gruffer but feminine voice replied over the sound of sputtering and the occasional pop which Wolf could tell from its many scents was a car.

There was a loud explosion as the boy turned to look and sure enough the muggle car that had been driving down the road with the arguing people came to a stop as the radiator top popped off and the tin lizzie came to a grinding halt.

"Crazy muggles and their noisy contraptions," a voice came from under a willow tree.

Wolf turned away from the country lane and the car parking to the side of the road. He had heard a voice, he was sure, and he could smell the sweet scent of roses and lavender which meant a girl was nearby. A twirling parasol caught his eye as he walked around the tree closer to the river.

"What are you skulking for boy," a young girl addressed him.

"I-I'm not skulking," the werewolf boy replied, his temper getting the better of him. He had growled at the end and he could feel his wolf ears about to pop out of his head.

The girl was clearly rich and snooty sitting on silk cloth in front of a silver tea set by the side of the river. "The rich were all entitled jerks," Wolf thought to himself and made his way to leave.

"Where do you think you're going boy, I'm not done talking to you?" the girl remarked, but Wolf gave her and her tea set no second thought. Instead he jumped over the wooden fence that bordered the country lane and walked over to the people in the tin lizzie. From the looks of them, they were magical folk.

"I don't think you should be doing that Gran," a young boy of Wolf's age was saying, "I could wake up Uncle Algie ..." Wolf could see the flat of a man's feet protruding from the side of the car followed by soft snores and the scent of powerful cologne.

Meanwhile under the car's hood an old lady heaved a very heavy ratchet.

"Never you bother waking up your uncle, Neville Longbottom. He doesn't know the first thing about muggle mobiles. Just leave everything in the capable hands of your Gran," the old lady said imperiously.

Neville blushed at Wolf, standing there in his nice tailored suit, holding a mallet and letting the old lady do all the work. Wolf smiled back in a friendly way and offered to help.

The girl under the willow tree peeked around the trunk of the tree and watched seething in anger.

It was a hazy memory but then again that had been a hazy day.
;) Werecreatures have it rough, makes me love Wolf even more! The girl under the willow tree peeked around the trunk of the tree and watched seething in anger.
Sounds like she's got issues needs tending to... or else maybe a crawldad crawled up her bloomers. ... sitting on the ground by the lake and all, it could happen. :xd: Neville blushed at Wolf, standing there in his nice tailored suit, holding a mallet and letting the old lady do all the work. Probably my favorite part of this post. It confirms my thoughts, I was thinking I liked Wolf. I do ^_^ Wonderful look back ~Otts. Just as always I loved this post, and I'm watching my mail notices, "you've got mail" oops those are the other guys. Still watching for your next post anyway. :hello:

AN: When in doubt ... play Tales from the Vienna Woods ... *plays the song* We'll have to come back to the flashback and move this story forward, my apologies.

"While I'm disappointed in the loss of the brooch Miss Crandall I am more disappointed in your not feeling the desire to come to me and trust me with your failure," the headmaster exclaimed. He turned an eye to the red haired boy who was about to touch a bowl full of snapdragon dragonsnap licorice, which were these delightful little dragon shaped licorice candies that bit you and spit fire if you didn't eat them fast enough. "Mister Storm! I expect better of you, being older and considerably at that than Miss Crandall."

"What? Ah, no, you see headmaster that stupid cat ... I ... I mean. I'm ... my magic isn't so good in human form and ... well, I meant to turn the statue alive at least for a little bit not to make it explode and when I tried to shut the window I ended up ... causing all the lights in that quarter of the city to ... uhm, explode or go out." This last part he whispered.

The headmaster was not amused. He was not yelling either, but his disappointment in them was clear in his sighs and those usually chipper gleaming eyes which now were dull and sad.

"And one, two, three, one, two, three Mister Longbottom!" "Aim, spell, fire, aim, spell, fire!" Professor Mandelbrot said as Neville waltzed around the room opposite Seamus each trying to stun the other but not being able to miss a step of the waltz.

"I do love Strauss," Dean whispered to Ginny, who smiled politely.

"Now we come to the climax," the Professor explained as he danced opposite Luna Lovegood. They were dancing together but not together holding hands but rather three feet apart. For all the world they were dancing some rondo or other from Elizabethan times but it was merely a fighting waltz as Professor Mandelbrot called it.

Luna bowed her head and closed her eyes as she let herself be taken over by the music. A tear escaped Dean's eyes, which he quickly brushed away as the song slowed down to his favorite part near the end.

"Aim, spell, fire!"

~Otts, I love it when we're in Professor Mandelbrot's classroom! It's wonderful!"While I'm disappointed in the loss of the brooch Miss Crandall I am more disappointed in your not feeling the desire to come to me and trust me with your failure," the headmaster exclaimed. Isn't that generally the way it is though. Young'uns not being able to confide there failures or disappointments to the authority figure in question, especially if great respect is felt for the one being disappointed, this case being the Headmaster. The headmaster was not amused. He was not yelling either, but his disappointment in them was clear in his sighs and those usually chipper gleaming eyes which now were dull and sad. This is my point exactly. How could anyone who respects the man, face the disappointment, and sadness in those eyes.

Great post ~Otts!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to get to read more of your stories. And, I do love your Avitar, and siggies. Thundercats, (one of my favorite cartoons while my children were growing up, btw) and Transformers is the only superheroe's that come to mind.

Things you need to know for reading this fic:

1) Takes place in HP Year 3!

2) This story is about The Hogwarts Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading & Action Adventure Club, which is comprised of the not trio characters of Harry Potter so don't expect Ron, Harry or Hermione as main stars.

3) An evil organization with it's own plans ... perhaps world domination, perhaps the subjugation of the human race, or perhaps giving everyone brochures and tickets to travel to the marvelous land of Xanth ... :shifty: I ain't tellin' I don't know ... is secretly behind ... uhm, some secret stuff that Dumbledore wants the HSSMMRAAC to find out ... :faint: That's a hard acronym to remember.

4) Storm and Calliope are cool!

5) Solemnity Fields has put out a hit as in assassination order on Neville Longbottom (it's a secret) and she's hired a boy (Wolf Hunter) who is not what his name says, to do him in as in dig his grave and put him in it. Simple enough, no? Well, Wolf can't remember his past too well, memory charmed I'm sure! (You should be asking yourself, 'by whom? why? to what end? Does he like licorice?') But he does remember Solemnity (which is funny because she doesn't remember him!) and he also remembers Neville Longbottom ... WTF???!!! Still, don't know so how can I tell?

6) Argent the werecat is in Ginny's possession ...

7) I only post on Saturdays ... when life isn't kicking me between the eyes ...

8) I will finish this fic. Eventually, and epically!

:yoshi:♥:kitty:

It was a week since the incident in London with Ginny and Neville. Things were of course back to their normal silent dangerous routine. A sort of darkness seemed to pervade the school, with the constant presence of the Dementors, the different houses at war with one another over Harry Potter, the Quidditch Cup and all the usual rubbish. By now of course everyone had become accustomed to the presence of Hunter. It was not surprising to find him curled up on Ginny's lap, begging scraps from the house elves in the kitchen or picking fights with Crookshanks. Still, Ginny loved him, and Neville had named him Mouse Hunter.

Trevor however had not taken to liking the gray haired feline. It was the same with Seamus and Dean, though Luna seemed wary she had an open mind and everyone else at Hogwarts seemed to like him. He had even been found on Draco's lap where the blonde haired boy contentedly petted him out of sight and surprisingly seemed to Ron who'd caught him, calmer than he'd ever seen the temperamental Slytherin.

"The professor seems to have a lot on his mind, you know?" Calliope told Seamus.

The sandy haired boy nodded as he walked next to her. She smiled at him, a pixie grin on a beautiful face, her long dark hair cascading around her soft adorable features. Still a cherubic face in the growing body of a young woman she seemed to constantly engendered these feelings in people of intense attraction. Come Valentine's Day she would have more admirers than Harry Potter had the first year he had been to Hogwarts. It had taken Mr. Filch and a small brigade of house elves about a week to clean up the rooms filled with owls sent to Harry his first year on Valentine's Day from admirers the world over. Calliope simply kept them in an alternate pocket dimension that fit in her purse and just didn't open them, except for those from close friends.

Seamus and Dean however, were both immune to her charms, having succumbed to love's charm themselves. Which is why she loved confiding in the boys. She loved confiding in Storm as well but ... since their unhappy return to school he had been avoiding her.

"You should just talk to him," Dean said from the other side. Seamus and Dean were flanking Calliope as she walked to Potions.

"What?" the girl asked a bit surprised.

"He means, Storm, love," Seamus added helpfully. "Leave off, Dean," the boy said. "Now what were you saying about the professor?"

"The Headmaster, he seems so preoccupied lately. It's as if he's wandering the corridors of his mind as much as the ones of the school. This thing with this missing artifact, this brooch, then this mysterious coven of witches or whatever they are, crime syndicate or whatever."

"And all the nonsense to do with Harry Potter," Seamus added. "I wouldn't want to be in his shoes, fa nothin'."

"Exactly!" Calliope exclaimed.

"I don't know ... I just don't think not talking about a problem fixes it. Don't you agree Seamus?" Dean pressed on.

"What? Do you think I should ask the Headmaster what's going on? What's troubling him?" Calliope asked.

"No, Dean thinks you should talk to Storm but that isn't what we're trying to talk about." Seamus' tone warned at his annoyance.

"What? I'm just trying to help a friend here, maybe you'd be a better friend trying the same thing?" Dean exploded.

"Ah good friend knows when to shut up and not stick his nose in a body's business, doesn't he?" Seamus shot back spiritedly.

Calliope stopped suddenly in the middle of the hall and turned around. Walking behind them discreetly had been Ginny's gray cat. She clutched her books to her chest and sighed. The cat seemed to grin and made to rub against her leg but for some reason she hesitated. Mouse Hunter jumped back and ran down the hall where Mrs. Norris waited for him.

"I don't like that cat," she whispered.

"Honestly, neither do I." A cold dark voice caused a shiver to run down her back. "Now if you wouldn't mind not being late to my class Ms. Calliope!" Came Professor Snape's voice. "And I'm sure you two would do well to find your seats as well!"

The three Gryffindor's rushed into the dark dreary dungeon and got their cauldron's out and ready quickly, their conversations and their speculations left for a latter hour ... when prying ears and beady eyes might not be so keen.

AN: *sighs*

Yes, this doesn't really advance the story very much but ... I'm trying to get back into the swing of regular posts ... please bear with me ...

Hey ~Otts, even though it didn't progress the story along as you said, it was a great post to visualize. I was going to comment on the same things Maxie did, but she did so well with them, I'll agree with her on them, and pick some others. Things were of course back to their normal silent dangerous routine. A sort of darkness seemed to pervade the school, with the constant presence of the Dementors, the different houses at war with one another over Harry Potter, the Quidditch Cup and all the usual rubbish. This was brilliant because it was written with such a non-shalaunt (don't know how to spell that word) attitude, but the delivery packed a punch. Normal, you think of such things for me was, hating school so much, I'd rather make myself sick to stay home, being disgusted with teachers, and rude kids. Normal for Hogwarts was something else entirely! She loved confiding in Storm as well but ... since their unhappy return to school he had been avoiding her.
Dean wanting to help get her to patch things between her and Storm, Seamus wanting them to stay out of her buisness, and let her wonder about other things. These are normal things..."The Headmaster, he seems so preoccupied lately. It's as if he's wandering the corridors of his mind as much as the ones of the school. This thing with this missing artifact, this brooch, then this mysterious coven of witches or whatever they are, crime syndicate or whatever."
Not normal things. The three Gryffindor's rushed into the dark dreary dungeon and got their cauldron's out and ready quickly, their conversations and their speculations left for a latter hour ... when prying ears and beady eyes might not be so keen.Normal for them, but how could they possibly concentrate on their school work is beyond me.
Great post ~Otts. I look forward to regular posts, that'll be great! Been mss'en ya pal.

:music: American woman stay away from me

Don't come a hanging around my door I don't want to see your face no more ... :music:
American Woman by the Guess Who

"There's someone aboard the ship who shouldn't be here, sir," the midshipman exclaimed.

"Oh?" The captain asked perplexed.

"The ships weight, sir. It's off by a few hundred kilos. Just enough that it's one person's weight."

"You keep track of this?"

"Sir, I put a spell on Starry Night, sir."

The Captain did not know what to make of such an industrious midshipman. Where he to punish him for his being so up on his duties it would be demoralizing and punishing him for making the captain look a fool would only make the captain look a bigger oaf. He would have to find another means of avenging himself.

Elsewhere aboard the Starry Night, a spy cautiously walked, wand at the ready through the ships cargo hold. Exactly what it was that the professor wanted he did not know, but rare and dangerous magical artifacts had gone missing lately and someone was going to a lot of trouble to make it look like simple vandalism or outright arson to cover their tracks and they had done a good job of it ... but no one could be invisible or impossible to find forever despite their best efforts. And through judicious eavesdropping because no one would talk out of a great fear, not coaxing, bribing or threatening.

It didn't help any that his mind was occupied with the escapee from Azkaban.

He walked gracefully and silently lopping around the large boxes and items strapped down in the airships cargo hold. The Starry Night did not belong to the Death Eaters as he had first suspected but rather it was the property of the shadow group calling itself Atlas, when it didn't refer to itself as The Shadow Group or the Hellfire Club or by any other myriad number of pseudonyms. They were all one group, though each division seemed to have it's own designation. The better to thwart snoops, the Ministry of Magic, and law enforcement agencies across the globe. They had their hands in everything, from simple muggle racketeering to theft and sales of magical artifacts and forbidden spells.

What exactly was their end game concerning whatever secrets the professor knew, the spy did not know. Greater matters were at hand than he knew or was being told about. Just the same he was happy to help ... even if it was the kind of help that meant risking your life. :gasp:

He stopped and saw a chest. Opening it just to inspect the contents he saw it filled with jewels, gold, precious stones. For a second he stopped and stared. Such pretty things seldom came across his line of sight, and he was not in a very secure situation financially. If he took one stone or a few coins, they'd never miss them ... and he would be able to take care of himself for a good while on the money. He could sense no spell guarding it. Just a few ... if he could but pocket a few.

Still, it was stolen money, or payment for dirty deeds. There was blood on that treasure as pretty as it was ... and profiting by stealing from treasure that was already tainted ...

The oval steel cargo hold door opened.

He slammed the lid shut harder than he'd wanted. Oh but to have an invisibility cloak right now.

:music: Play us a song we can slow dance on

"You're a daft oaf," Draco exclaimed angrily. He turned his back, his cloak flapping its wearer's disdain.

"That may be so," the red haired boy replied politely, "but by comparison to you I'm a genius." He had delivered it with all the calm and gentility that Draco had not, blustering with anger and the affected affrontery of the wealthy.

"Pedant!"

"Ogre snot."

The gryffindors, and Hufflepuffs in the hallway laughed at that. Storm turned his attention back to the book he was reading, ignoring everyone's snickering and Draco's mounting rage.

Draco, who could not stomach public humiliation in the slightest and could control his rage even less, especially after a run in with Harry, took out his wand and fired off a spell. With a swiftness that defied logic, Storm had deflected the spell. Except that the blast had not hit anything.

The grey haired cat watched him. The boy's wand hand was empty. He was holding nothing in it and his other hand still held the book. Storm shut the book one-handedly and set the book down on his bench and stood up.

"Go away Draco before I get ..."

The Slytherin foolishly fired another spell and this time the boy knocked it down to the floor with a spell from his wand.

"If you want a duel," and again Draco fired another spell. The Slytherin was obviously not in a talkative mood. This time Storm ducked and Neville, who had been standing behind him, sneezed violently. Storm turned to look. Poor Neville had gotten the pepper blast full on his face. The boy started sneezing uncontrollably. "Fine!" Storm said angrily.

Ginny was trying to hold Neville back, his sneezes were becoming more and more violent causing him to slam into the wall.

"I don't think we want to be here," Luna said.

"I think you're right," Calliope standing next to her said. She grabbed the Ravenclaw girl by the arm and pulled her away.

"Hey what's going on, Gin?" Ron asked walking up. Standing next to him Ottery was on cloud nine, then suddenly seeing the look on Storm's face he grabbed the red haired boy and pushed him out of the hall and then came back for Ginny and Neville.

"Otts what the devil?" Ron complained as they were all suddenly knocked down by the power of a concussion blast.

"Mr. Filch was not happy, Mr. Storm. Having to retrieve students from the roof of a lower tower. It isn't easy work. Mr. Filch can't ride a broom and he's not fond of rock climbing," the Headmaster scolded good naturedly.

Fawkes cried out as if agreeing.

Storm could see the twinkle in Dumbledore's eye and swallowed his question, already knowing the answer to his queery. "Why hadn't one of the teachers just levitated him into the castle?"

"I see you've caught the angle of my argument, but that still does not excuse your actions. You know perfectly well that your powers are vastly stronger than most students and even some professor's here." Professor Dumbledore stood up and started pacing around his desk.

"I do know that sir, it's just ... Draco attacked me, unprovoked. He'd slammed into my book while I was reading and ... then trying to hit me he'd hit Neville and ... and ... it's so difficult being a human and Calliope won't talk to me and ... that stupid cat ... I didn't mean to lose the brooch," Storm was not happy. He glanced at the floor unable to look at the professor in the face, ashamed at his human weaknesses. Being in a human form gave him so many different human feelings and it overwhelmed him sometimes. His nature did not lend itself to being so open about his feelings and thoughts. A tear rolled down his eye.

"What's done is done, Mr. Storm. You should not worry so much about things that can't be helped. In future we will have opportunity to rectify our mistakes," Professor Dumbledore said, placing his hand on the boy's shoulder.

"What mistakes have you made, sir?" the boy asked innocently, his curiosity getting the better of his judgement.

With that Dumbledore merely smiled, "Have a peppermint pop, they give you ice breath for a few minutes. They're actually quite good too."

Storm walked out of Professor Dumbledore's office, unscathed and without detention but not without a sliver of sadness to tinge his good luck. Calliope was still not talking to him, and he didn't know what he'd done to make her angry. All he wanted to do was ... well, there had been happier times in their adventures.

"Dance with me, Storm," she'd said.

"What? I can't ... I don't know how you humans do it. Besides, there's no music."

"So long as your heart beats there's music," she'd said and taken his hands in her hands and she'd hummed a pretty song.

Storm looked around as he walked out of the gargoyle's way and the stone beast settled itself back in front of the hidden stairway. Calliope was nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile back in the Headmaster's office a figure walked out of the shadows and petted Fawkes.

"Oh Fawkes," he exclaimed swinging his hand trying to soothe the burn. Never pet a burning phoenix.

"I called you back because I need you to keep an eye on him. He's young and he needs friends. I was hoping ..."

"I know, I know. I'm totally familiar with the whole too much power and not enough experience scenerio," the boy replied. "I'll watch him for ya boss."

Dumbledore nodded and handed him the bowl of peppermint pops. He had an affinity for candy.

You'[re sweet Conners for still reading. I barely have time to write this story ... :P

Neways, you've already seen the character that Dumbledore was speaking too, I'm thinking you guessed the spy ... *pouts* I had kind of hoped I was being vague and mysterious, but obviously not. :P

Use my links if you're going to reread the story Conners, it'll make it a faster read, you can skip all the chatter. Here goes *runs into action to a very speedy soundtrack*

:music: Let go ...
Let the world know you're alive,
let the world know you believe
let the world know you have love to give ... :music:
song by Astrud Gilberto

The walls were crumbling around them. The walls of Hogwarts were falling apart. Pushing through the clouds of dust rushing past all the debris a dark haired boy coughed, "gah, this is seriously bad for my sinuses."

Ginny looked at the boy. "But what about Mouse Hunter?" she asked.

"Gin, love, seriously ... I'm sure the cat can take care of itself," Ottery assured her. "We've got to get you somewhere safe."

Out of the swirling dust in front of them a blonde haired boy appeared, coughing and sputtering wand at the ready. He pointed it at them. Ginny went for hers but Ottery pushed her out of the way just as the boy fired off a spell.

From the ground Ottery heard the sound of a spell slapping against steal. He turned to see a gold automaton, all gears and clanking steel a giant broadsword in hand, he doubted anyone but that mechanical heap could pick such a heavy thing up. In a split second he was up and pushing Ginny away from him as the sword came slashing down. The boy screamed as it sliced his back.

"Ottery!" Ginny screamed catching the boy as he fell into her arms.

Draco removed a vial from his person and flung it at the monstrosity the acid burning through it's metal chest. The acrid smell of steel burning in the air.

Elsewhere in the castle, Ernie and Hannah ran down the halls firing off spells left and right as the demons attacked. Peeves pointed the way to an escape.

"Thanks Peeves," Ernie replied as he tried catching his breath.

The demons tore the door down and as they turned to run Hannah screamed. Fire demons were coming from the other side of the hall, they were surrounded.

"Where are all the teachers?!" Ernie yelled.

Peeves tried pelting the fire demons with chalk all to no avail. Hannah tried a few water spells but that only slowed them down. Ernie meanwhile was trying to find a way to fend off the other demons but ... if he could only remember that capturing spell Professor Lupin had been trying to teach them.

gotta pick up Kevin at the bus stop more laterz ... try and guess, no? ;)

Peeves tried pelting the fire demons with chalk all to no avail. Hannah tried a few water spells but that only slowed them down. Ernie meanwhile was trying to find a way to fend off the other demons but ... if he could only remember that capturing spell Professor Lupin had been trying to teach them.

A piece of chalk rolled away and as Peeves made to grab it he noticed it was next to Neville's foot.

"Shouldn't you be running away, Longbottom?" he asked meanly. "The bogies'll get ya!"

"I-I-I-I'm not running," the boy said. He picked up the chalk and started scribbling on the castle room floor.

"Neville what are you doing?" Ernie asked, "We need to get out of here! Our spells aren't doing anything to them."

The Gryffindor boy ignored him, Hannah cast a shield spell as the demons started lobbing candelabras at the boy, but still Neville drew the pentagram and the array slowly whispering to himself the instructions lest he make a mistake.

"I got it!" he said, in time to get hit on the face with a shield.

"Accio swords!" Ernie said, taking those from the demons before they chose to come at them with the weapons.

"Got what, Neville?" Hannah asked.

But Neville didn't answer, wiping some blood on his hand from the cut on his forehead he sat up and jumped at the pentagram on the floor. The demons saw it but too late. Neville whispered the magic words and the array lit up and a portal opened above it leading to a dark netherworld. The demons tried to run, they grabbed at anything they could scratching the walls and the floor in a mad desperate bid to remain in this plane of existence but all for naught as the magical force that summoned them was too great. Peeves was holding onto a chandelier for dear life even as the thing became loosened and swung ever closer to the portal.

"Shut it off Wetbottom! Shut it up! I promise I'll never ever pick on you again!" the poltergeist exclaimed.

As the last demon entered the gate Neville smeared the chalky drawing and his blood and sealed the gate with a magic word.

Peeves sighed in relief, "A promise made under duress doesn't count," he said to them as they watched him and two seconds later it came crashing to the floor. They walked out leaving Peeves crying on the chandelier.

:P

She was laughing. For all the world to hear, she was laughing. It was a laughter that was infectious, it was a laughter that was delightful, it was a laughter that made you feel like you were ten years old again, it was a laughter of ... well a laughter of sheer utter joy and love. And she was laughing it.

Storm smiled to see her laugh, his wand flicking left and right like an orchestra conductor directing a symphony, the melody of his magic floating through the air as a demon slammed into a wall here, or a golem burst into flames, or a mechanical man came to a grinding halt.

Whoever's automatons and demons they were they were not very good, and really they didn't pose much of a threat in themselves but it was their numbers. Though that didn't matter to them. Storm and Calliope had weathered worse attacks together. Oh how he longed to shed these constricting human robes and tear the guise that held him back as a human. To be in his true form he would show them all ...

Still, she was laughing. And to hear her laughing that way again, was worth any discomfort. It lightened his heart in a way nothing else could.

"You're too slow old man," she said blasting the head off a steam powered robot that had been walking up behind him.

He smiled at her sweetly. With a wave of her wand she called up a tidal wave and flooded the rest of the hallway clearing it of golems and demons, the hiss of water dissipating as it struck against hot metal engine men the only thing left after it had washed through the hall. The magic water causing them to rust in place even as their precious warm engines cooled off.

"Die beast," someone said, and Storm turned in time to see a boy about fifteen in a dark cloak coming at him, one hand open ready for a spell, wand in the other the boy ran up between them and buried his sword in the boy's chest.

"Alex!" Calliope screamed.

:gasp:

And that's all for now cuz I'm evil. Alex btw is Storm's first name ... in human form. :shifty:

You don't post for ages, and then you post LOADS in half a week. You remind me of -- myself. xD

"There's someone aboard the ship who shouldn't be here, sir," the midshipman exclaimed.
Oooh! I can SMELL the thrill, from a mile off!

"The ships weight, sir. It's off by a few hundred kilos. Just enough that it's one person's weight."
Whoa! Vair ingenious!

He would have to find another means of avenging himself.
<_<

Greater matters were at hand than he knew or was being told about. Just the same he was happy to help ... even if it was the kind of help that meant risking your life.
I wonder where this is going. *eyes*

The oval steel cargo hold door opened.
*falls over*

:faint:

"That may be so," the red haired boy replied politely, "but by comparison to you I'm a genius." He had delivered it with all the calm and gentility that Draco had not, blustering with anger and the affected affrontery of the wealthy.

"Pedant!"

"Ogre snot."
For some reason, I can't see anyone getting the better of Draco, not where comebacks are concerned. Or maybe it's just that the Draco I write - and read extensively - is phenomenal with sarcasm?

And calm. Cold, but very calm.

*ponders*

Draco, who could not stomach public humiliation in the slightest and could control his rage even less, especially after a run in with Harry, took out his wand and fired off a spell.
Once again, I disagree. I see him as a person who knows, more than most other people, how to mask his true emotions; and not let anyone see, except for anger sometimes, what he feels.

But then again, 'tis your Draco. I can't say I like him, though. He's very far from the Draco I see reflected in the books, and the Draco I read, write, imagine -- and love<3.

The grey haired cat watched him.
:kitty:

"Mr. Filch was not happy, Mr. Storm. Having to retrieve students from the roof of a lower tower. It isn't easy work. Mr. Filch can't ride a broom and he's not fond of rock climbing," the Headmaster scolded good naturedly.
*petpets Mr. Filch* =[

Meanwhile back in the Headmaster's office a figure walked out of the shadows and petted Fawkes.
Aww. AWWW!

Dumbledore nodded and handed him the bowl of peppermint pops. He had an affinity for candy.
I laiiik Dumbledore. You get his character, quite well.

~Otts, I love the brilliance you gave Neville, and I love that Neville, allthough waited till the last one went through the portal, shut it so Peeves woudn't go through. And I LOVE that Peeves character didn't change when he was safe. Neville knew he wouldn't though huh.

Couldn't find any spell that Lupin was trying to teach them, so it must be one from the book? I have a theary, but will have to check it to make sure.

Yes, I think I know who the spy is, and that is brillient logic in your writing, if I'm correct. Which I know better than to say who I think it is. Nobody likes spoiled milk right? And besides the great and powerful Otts probibly has a contingency plan he can use if anyone guesses correctly. "Die beast," someone said, and Storm turned in time to see a boy about fifteen in a dark cloak coming at him, one hand open ready for a spell, wand in the other the boy ran up between them and buried his sword in the boy's chest.

"Alex!" Calliope screamed.
:gasp::no::pfd::faint::choochoo:wreck! First Ottery, now Storm. They're ok ~Otts? You'll make them ok?

Mandlebrot should be proud of Neville, he didn't learn that piece of magic in Herbalogy I bet. Probibly from one of the books they reviewed in the bookclub. yes? sniff (still upset about Storm and Ottery)

Great post! ~Otts, I'll always be here. Be a pal, and post quickly! :glomp:

SenoritaMaxie: I remind you of yourself? You're too cute, I don't write as much or as well. :glomp: but I love the compliment.

For some reason, I can't see anyone getting the better of Draco, not where comebacks are concerned. Or maybe it's just that the Draco I write - and read extensively - is phenomenal with sarcasm?
I can't say I'm familiar with your Draco, I'm reading The Second Road to Death and that deals with the marauders remember? :poke:  Which is a cool story you all should read yo! So I'm not sure how you write Draco but this is Draco upset after fighting with Harry, it's also Draco the third year, and it's also uhm, Alex Storm who is waaaaaaaaaaaaay older than Draco :shifty: and that's all your getting from me on that. So as ingeniously sarcastic as you could write him Alex would always be wittier having read Pope and Swift and well when you're that old you're that wise. ;) I'm sure I'd love your Draco though ... sounds like my Blaise Zabini.

Connie: ever faithful, ever present Conners. :glomp: I'm glad you like my characterizations, though I know they're uniquely mine. I just try to remember that Neville is a bit of a nebbish but knowing what he grows up to be ... well ... oh and I was channeling my Neville from Love's Whimsical where he had alchemic abilities ... which may or may not appear here

Droo: I know ... my muse is very fickle, but she's also out of practice which is why I've been trying to post a little everyday. She needs to get back on the horse ... and I never abandon a story if I can help it.

I appreciate you all still reading my story. I know I have not been that faithful to it, personal problems, but I intend to write it and make it epic and awesome, you all give me your precious time and I intend not to let it be squandered. So, thank you and here's another post.

On an entirely seperate and random note, I just came from seeing How to train your dragon and while I hate 3D, the movie was brilliant you all should see it. I'm crushing on Hiccup now  Expect fanart  x2

You'll remember my spy I hope dear readers because that's where we are going again. ;)

As the airship Starry Night flew over Cardiff, the city seemed happy and content brightly lit and busy, the cloudy night reflecting on the puddles and the wet streets as a soft quiet rain passed not dampening the town's spirits on a celebratory Friday night. Music could be heard coming from some locales, the sounds of the football matches could be heard as well as the cheering or the booing when the doors flung open at the pubs. The same however could not be said of the airship Starry Night hidden amidst the clouds over the city.

"It's looks like lightning tonight mate. This drizzles gonna turn ugly, from the looks of that dark cloud," a man told his friend as they walked down to catch a cab and start their evening's entertainment.

His companion looked up. Sure enough, a cloud in the distance would light up and then darken again, but there was something funny about it, like there was a silhouette of something or other.

"Funny thing is ... there's lightning but no thunder." He shrugged and they hailed a cab. He hadn't told his mate that he also thought it funny that every time the lightning flashed he could swear he was seeing a silhouette of a zeppelin with sails.

Meanwhile, things aboard the Starry Night were less than celebratory. The ship was aflame, the helium leaking fast from it and every instant coming ever closer to the sails which were the only thing keeping her aloft even now.

"If we crash amidst the muggles sir, I can't begin to tell you the disaster that will be for the organization, sir. The great high commander will be most displeased," the officious midshipman explained to the captain as the round short white bearded man looked around at his crew running to and fro on the ship's deck trying to stop the fires with magic and trying desperately to repair the balloon.

"How could this even happen? This is a magical ship, we've got defenses!"

"Perhaps if you'd listened to me before captain when I'd suggested that we ..."

"Midshipman Andrews!" the captain commanded.

"Yes sir?"

"May I see your firearm?"

"Why yes sir." The midshipman replied careful to hand it over with the safety on and handle first. "You'll find sir that it is up to regulation standards and ..."

BANG!

"Odious toad. Get him off my deck and someone stop those blasted fires! We don't need the muggles anymore than we need the bloody Ministry of Magic finding out about the existence of the organization. I don't need to tell you all, we'll be as dead Midshipman Andrews and a lot less swiftly or mercifully," the captain remarked gruffly. He needed something strong but now was not the time. First he had to save his ship and then ... he'd send out the hellhounds after whoever was on his ship. If a spy survived he'd be just as dead and he alone as no one else was responsible for what went on his ship.

:mwaha:

"You don't seriously think you're going to stop me do you?" the man asked. "A boy like you? What are you, twelve, thirteen?" the pepper and salt haired man asked condescendingly. "Go on back home boy before I send you there in pieces." The man turned away from him.

Wolf Hunter watched him. The old rogue in his resplendent dress robes, something like a muggle tuxedo. He was smoking, which is why he had walked up to the roof of the building, it seemed even in the wizarding world the disgusting habit was frowned upon. Of course, none of this was a mystery to Wolf. He always studied his marks before he went in for the kill.

Rodolphus Agamemnon Aerope, the dossier read, a stolen magical artifacts tycoon, whose fortunes were laundered through his legitimate but failing magic carpet and rare pet shop businesses. Rodolphus has a penchant for stealing, which began in his childhood, an affinity for valuable priceless objects which he hoarded like a dragon sometimes acquiring objects and switching them with counterfeits at least when dealing with muggle clients. He was watched around the clock by bodyguards, at his wife's insistence, she being a partner in his illicit businesses, and a thief of world renown herself, see Amanda Waller separate dossier.

For weeks now Wolf had been watching his movements and learning his patterns and habits. It was in this way that he had come to know Rodolphus and his insatiable habit or rather addiction and was now using it to his advantage. He had jumped, in wolf form from a separate roof, rather than crash the party and be recognized on finding the man alone. It was now in this instant that weeks of hard work would pay off handsomely.

"You still here, brat?" the man asked.

Something about the look in Wolf's eyes unnerved the man. His beautiful eyes which reflected the moonlight perfectly, with a cold distance. A chill ran up the old rogue's spine.

"Do I know you from somewhere or something?" He flicked the butt at the boy and with his other hand made to grab his wand, but Wolf was quicker.

"Expelliarmus!"

The wand flew out of the man's hands off the rooftop to the ground thirty stories below. It would be a while before it clattered to the ground.

"Who sent you? Look, I can pay you more than they're giving you. What is it you want, gold, jewels? Is this what you're after?" He made to take something from out of his jacket.

"Avada Kedavra!" the boy replied.

Something fell on the graveled roof, as a green flash fired and the man followed his wand.

Wolf looked over the edge of the building. People were gathering already. There would be nothing to connect him to the death. He kicked something on the ground, looked and bent down to pick it up. It was a brooch. Silver with pearls, the crest in the center was clearly Ravenclaw, a Hogwarts house. From the looks of it old. He pocketed it and hearing footsteps coming up the stairs he ran to the other edge of the rooftop.

A wolf bounded away into the night, running and jumping from rooftop to rooftop.

Ahhh ... Well, that explains it then. Very clever of you!

Uh-oh! I bet he shouldn't have said this:"Perhaps if you'd listened to me before captain when I'd suggested that we ..."

"May I see your firearm?"
Oh dear! Poor Midshipman Andrews Rodolphus Agamemnon Aerope,Interesting this. Did you do this on purpose? Of course you did, cause you're so clever. Agamemnon: Commander of the Greek army in the Trojan War. And this airship has a spy on board. Plus, his name is divided into 3 syllables with each 1st and third letter being the same in each of the 3 syllables. Aga mem non. Strange yes? Anyway, that was clever I must say. It was a brooch. Silver with pearls, the crest in the center was clearly Ravenclaw, a Hogwarts house. Nice! He was looking for a way to get into Hogwarts.
On an entirely seperate and random note, I just came from seeing How to train your dragon and while I hate 3D, the movie was brilliant you all should see it. I'm crushing on Hiccup now Expect fanart x2

The sounds of swords clanging one against the other, sliding off each other like a butcher sharpening his knives, rattled through the castle. Ronald Weasley was fighting alongside one of the castles many suits of armor against one of the steam powered automatons that had invaded the castle. Together they were holding their own, as Seamus and Dean entered the courtyard.

"What do you think's going on mate?" Seamus remarked.

"What does it look like love?" Dean asked. "It's a siege!"

"Well technically a siege would be if they were still outside the castle, I think this ranks as an invasion," Luna Lovegood corrected as she and a blonde haired boy popped in.

The castle wall nearest them exploded sending rocks, dust and shards of stone flying at them and in every direction. Dean threw himself over Seamus knocking him over and protecting him from the blast, Luna who had been holding her wand in her hand called up a magical shield around Rolf and her, the stones bouncing off.

As the dust settled, a clanking whirring machine on two legs with exhaust pipes and turrets like a tank on legs began to walk through the hole in the wall.

"Okay, now it's officially an invasion," Rolf murmured from behind Luna.

"What the ...?" Dean asked.

"It's a Gerwalk Panzer Tank, mark 3, you can tell becuase they've got a rotating turret on the top and two on the sides, on the older models they don't rotate. It's a steam powered walker tank unit." Seamus replied.

Dean helped his friend up, looking at him in shocked awe. Seamus blushed and shrugged, "I like steampunk."

The topmost turret took aim at Ron Weasley who had his back to it. Luna raised her wand and with a flick and a swish had plugged the barrel with a fallen rock.

"Nice work Luna," Rolf said from where he was kneeling behind her. "I woulda've done it but ... uhm, I'm a little scared."

Just then all around the castle armored gryphons with riders descended on the castle walls landing on the towers and on the parapets and battlements. Their riders were all cloaked in black and held lances which carried banners of different sorts.

"This looks like the end," Dean said standing in front of Seamus and covering him with his body. Seamus turned to look at his friend. Dean stuck out his hand to shake and took out his wand, a determined look on his face.

"If you kiss me, I'll punch you," Seamus said. "This isn't over! Not until the last one of us is dead!" He screamed and it echoed in the courtyard.

Dean smiled.

Just then, Ottery ran into the courtyard chased by a stone dog on fire, and he stopped as an armored gryphon descended in front of him. The dark haired boy fell to the floor and started scooting back until the dog snapped at him.

"Nice doggie, nice doggie!" The dog barked and snapped at him coughing up ash and dust. "See if I give you any treats you little b..."

"Cease your prattling fool boy, you are conquered. Take me to your leader." The knight atop the gryphon exclaimed as they pointed their spear at the boy's throat.

"Yeah, sure," Ottery said slowly standing up, the spear never leaving his neck.

The knight dismounted, the gryphon snapped at Ottery and the boy took a step back only to jump forward again as the dog tried to bite the back of his robes.

"This is getting dangerous!" he exclaimed.

The knight took off its helmet and stood before Ottery. She shook her golden hair and let it fall around her shoulders picked up by the wind.

"Hey, you can't take Hogwarts you're just a girl!" the dark haired boy exclaimed.

The girl punched him across the face and the boy landed on his bum.

"And this is the part where I come in," Professor Mandelbrot said appearing from out of a cloud of dust as if he had apparated, sword in one hand, wand behind one ear (which he'd copied from Luna) and a spear in the other hand. As swiftly as you read this the spear was launched from his hands at the armored woman, he swung the sword and dispatched the dog slicing it's stone head off leaving it yelping in its death throes, it's body falling down in ash and charcoal and he had his wand in his hand. "Voila! I save the day!"

"Except there's like a thousand spear men," someone in the crowd yelled, "Hey!" on hearing that, "I mean spear carriers pointing at you, oh and this gryphon here," Ottery remarked as the beast snapped at him.

"I'm not dead either," the woman knight remarked throwing the spear back at Professor Mandelbrot.

There was a scream and a sound of thunder.

Ottery St.Catchpole,
Excellent FF! My new friend, Connie told me about you, and I spent an afternoon reading. I think I may have missed a few key points in my hurry to see what would happen next, but intend to go back and reread, after I give one of your earlier FF a quick read.

You're a great writer, and I really look forward to your next post. I might even be knowledgeable enough, by then, to put my two cents in.

Explosions wracked the ship. The balloon of the zeppelin had fallen over the body covering the windows and making it impossible to see where they were going. Airship sailors were running back and forth trying to get the balloon repaired and off the ship, while others tried to stop the fires that had caught on the sails, and still others were calling up wind to keep the ship afloat and out of muggles prying eyes. In the midst of all this chaos, Remus Lupin, wearing a uniform he had stolen, hat ducked down over his eyes walked around trying to find an exit. If he could reach the forward cargo hold he could find a glider and get away.

There were important bits of information he had learned. The group was everything that Dumbledore had feared. They had a history that went back through time, ties with dozens of other secret societies some even more reclusive and hidden, ties with the muggle underworld, power brokers in and out of the Wizarding World. The group had sleeper agents in muggle and wizarding government, possibly even at Hogwarts, definitely in Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. The members of the Organization ranged from people in the werewolf and vampire clans to rogue sorcerers and even Hollywood movie stars.

The only problem was that while the organization had it's hand in many different kinds of dirty dealings from the illegal sale of rare magical creatures to muggles, stolen art, embezzling, assassination and any other number of illicit things, their main goal was still a mystery, and a very well guarded one at that.

He had documents and a book or two hidden in the soldier's satchel across his shoulder. Through the smoke and panic he made his way. He wondered that he shouldn't have taken some of the gold or jewels but that was not his way. Even after all the time he'd spent with the Marauders, he couldn't be as mischievous, they wouldn't have seen any harm in nicking a few things, especially from evil blokes.

"You? Where do you think you're going?" Someone asked.

Lupin turned around.

"Oh, sorry sergeant I'm new aboard the ship I didn't know ..." the man apologized.

Lupin merely nodded and walked on opening the metal hatch to the forward hold. He slipped in quietly. He would just pop in, grab a glider or a broom and be on his merry way. As he closed the door however he overheard something.

"... you talking about, the sergeant's on the bridge with the captain."

"So much for slipping out unnoticed," Lupin thought to himself. Taking his wand out he sealed the door shut with a spell. Likely it wouldn't last long, not if they decided to come through the walls but a few seconds could mean the difference between life and death.

He ran over to the wall opposite and pulled the lever to open the cargo bay doors. A gust of wind rushed in bringing with it the cold with a hard slap across the face at the same time as they started banging on the door. He took no notice, picked up a broom and started walking towards the exit. The doors were opening too slowly.

There was an explosion behind him as the door came flying past him. He ran to the end of the door and slid out of the opening doors. So much for waiting. Broom in hand he plummeted as spells went past him, they were firing at him! Suddenly he felt a jolt on his back and everything went black.

Now that's a cliffie.

Connie: Yo Conners, what's up? I hope you don't mind I had you wait. It's just ... well the kids can't wait so ... you get the idea. I really hate cutting off a post like that but I write these on SS while I'm on SS. Unlike say Human Nature :shifty: which I've been working on ... but not anywhere near posting ... I want to have a few posts and I still have to edit them so ... you'll have to wait, but when I do post you'll have them more regularly.

It's also why I think you like Human Nature more, my writing there is less guerrilla writing and more refined

And I do love my friends and readers so obviously I feel obligated to reply always ... I can't help it.

I know you're always here Conners :glomp: I just didn't know you were pimping me

MissWeasley:  Katie, If I'd have known I was going to have new readers I would have dressed better  as it is ... well, this fic is a little rough but I'm glad you're liking it. Don't worry about the finer points ... uhm, I usually forget them  but feel free to lemme know what they are and what you think. I hope you don't mind my lousy grammar.

I'm glad to have you here, I'd given up already on ever having new readers  I'm just glad to have the ones I do, so you're a very welcome addition. Please feel free to critique or throw out suggestions or stuff, I'm an aspiring writer so I take this stuff seriously. If you don't that's cool too, I hope you keep liking the story and the direction it's going.

What other earlier fic of mine did you mean? I've got a few finished here on SS. Love's Whimsical Melancholy is my magnum opus if I do say so myself. If you were ever only going to read one thing I wrote ... that would be what I'd suggest. I've never been able to top that. Still I'm trying with Human Nature. But lemme know what you think and welcome aboard. Connie is a very sweet friend for telling you of me ... and just all around. :D I'm so flattered Conners

Loved this!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure none of my favorite Hollywood stars are involved though! "... you talking about, the sergeant's on the bridge with the captain."
Uh-oh! An announcement of impending doom if ever I heard one! Run Remus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He took no notice, picked up a broom and started walking towards the exit. I SAID RUN! Suddenly he felt a jolt on his back and everything went black.:worried:

Great post ~Otts! Loved it Hope you can post double quick. I must know that Remus makes it ok. Oh, and about this: It's just ... well the kids can't wait so ... you get the idea. I always say, always take care of real life first. Especially if it's family. And I figured you was working on Human Nature. It's why I haven't been bugging you about it. Take your time to write it how you want it. It's worth the wait. :glomp:

One more way you know Hollywood is dum ... The Smurf movie ... *facepalm*

And a moment of silence please Dick Giordano, one of the comic book greats passed away. :rip:

Solemnity Fields was shopping for a dress, one of her favorite hobbies, but somehow her mind simply wasn't on it. Marcy had volunteered to come along the duplicitous little cow, most likely to make sure that Solemnity didn't buy a dress that would outdo hers, she wouldn't stop squawking about how it was being flown in by broom from France. A special order from the House of LaMarque etc. etc. ad nauseum. Solemnity didn't really care. She had already won the Frost Princess crown and she'd made sure that idiot Marcy and her little group of Heathers had realized she was not interested in Chad.

AN: Meh ... all the kids are here ... I need privacy and quiet to write not feelin' this ... back laterz.

Hey ~Otts, Post or not to post, that is the question. So, yesterday when you posted I thought I'd not post to that short enticing morsel you offered us, for two reasons. First for the moment of silence you asked for, for Dick Giordano. And then secondly, I thought I'd just post when you got the rest of the beginning you posted. But then, I thought, "Well, what if that counts as double posting?" It shouldn't be, but I decided not to make that an issue and just post to the little morsel. Solemnity Fields was shopping for a dress, one of her favorite hobbies, but somehow her mind simply wasn't on it.I'm sure her mind is on seberal things, but I still hope her dress is better than Marcy's.
:superman: Sending my friend to rescue a falling hero. There was a full moon last night, and he's unconcious. Hope help arrives in time.
Waiting for more ~Otts.

Just the same her mind was not on shopping, her conscience was not bothered by her Neville death fixation but that boy assassin she'd sicced on him. He had not called her back, had told her nothing. Whatever owls she'd dispatched came back with the same terse message:

Dispatching someone is not as easy as it sounds. Stop bothering me about it, I'm working on it. Please stop calling me for updates, I will let you know how things progress.

~Wolf

Solemnity needed to have Neville dead, as long as he was alive and running around he was a constant annoyance to her otherwise perfect life. She needed him out of the picture, and perhaps then Wolf would go as well and she wouldn't spend so much time thinking about him, what he was doing, or where he was. Boys were the bane of any girls existence! But ... truth be told, existence wasn't that interesting without them.

"What do you think of this one?" Marcy asked, perky, smiling and holding up the most hideous turquoise, tafetta dress that had been produced in 1972.

"Are you spastic?" is what Solemnity wanted to say, but as dear mother used to always say, diplomacy before discourse, "It looks loveliest on you dear, but I couldn't possibly pull it off, sweets."

"I've already got a dress, Sol," Marcy replied. "You know, the La Marque that I'm having oweled all the way from ..."

Solemnity smiled and started humming in her head. If she heard her go on one more time about that stupid dress she'd have to throttle her.

"How about this one?"

Orange sherbert in faux silk with enough sequence to blind deer when struck by sunlight, as it was doing in Marcy's hands. Solemnity turned away, hiding her wand. Her first instinct had been to blast it but what excuse would she have for blowing up Marcy, right? The Headmistress would not be happy. Solemnity sighed. It was the Fall Ball she needed something in soft browns, or red, yellows to reflect the season, but then again she was the Frost princess so perhaps something in all white with glittering things and ... *sighs* this was going to be difficult and Marcy's blatant attempts at sabotage were not helping the situation at all.

God but she wanted to talk to Wolf right now.

:wizard: ♥ :pirate2:

Connie: It's not double posting to post after I post, double posting is when you post two consecutive posts one after the other. If someone posts inbetween then you didn't double post ... :poke: I swear I've explained this before <_<

Neways, Conners, And whose our falling hero? What? Where? :shifty: When I post next ... mysteries solved ... and more given  so ... there you go.

Droo: I swear I wasn't trying to tease but if it works  I'm not above showmanship and shenanigans to get readers to stay. ;)

But ... truth be told, existence wasn't that interesting without them.
How true, how true! And, just existing isn't living. *sighs* this was going to be difficult and Marcy's blatant attempts at sabotage were not helping the situation at all.
Solemnity probably wouldn't mind if a great ape came and carried off Marcy. :xd:Then she could get a dress and be free to think of Wolf the rest of the time.:werewolf::galadriel:
I swear I've explained this before
And there wasn't a need for an explanation this time. I was talking about you posting and then if nobody posted after you and you posted again, then I was afraid YOU would be in trouble for double posting. I didn't know if it would be counted as that since you was posting on your story. But never mind all that. I'm anxious for:mysteries solved ... and more given Hope you can post soon ~Otts. Have you all gone to wish the April babies a Happy Birthday :shifty:

:glomp:

Cold wind rushing past you at a couple hundred miles an hour will usually wake you up, no matter how strong the stunning spell. Remus woke up falling from the sky, the dark clouds rushing past and the bright shiny city beneath. The satchel was still at his side that was good but somewhere along the way he'd lost his broom, and that was bad.

"How would Bond get out of this?" Remus thought to himself.

"He's over here! Still alive?" he heard the sound of voices, and he looked around men on brooms. The airship captain had obviously wanted confirmation of his death, or his capture.

"Excellent!" Remus thought, "Now I know how James would do it." He spun around in the air and lay on his back, going limp, pretending to be unconscious. Let them come in closer and then ....

:loved:

When last we left our intrepid heroes ...

"Except there's like a thousand spear men," someone in the crowd yelled, "Hey!" on hearing that Ottery amended, "I mean spear carriers pointing at you. Oh and this gryphon here," Ottery remarked as the beast snapped its dangerous beak at him. A beak strong enough to crack a coconut in one snap and sharp enough to cut steel.

"I'm not dead either," the woman knight remarked throwing her golden spear back at Professor Mandelbrot. In a vengeful swift throw that would find its mark.

There was a loud shrill scream and a sound of thunder.

The scream had been Parvati Patil who along with Lavender Brown had just walked out into the courtyard in time to see the professor struck down. As she saw the spear slamming into Professor Mandelbrot, he fell to the stone floor where he lay crumpled like a piece of paper. Ottery took out his wand and a dozen spears came at him. The dark haired boy spun around quickly and deflected a few of them, dodge a few others and fell down firing spells at the soldiers while Seamus, Dean, Luna and Rolf fired their spells trying to help the boy.

"This isn't looking good," Seamus said firing a fireball.

Dean merely nodded too busy intently concentrating on his spells.

"Kill them all!" the leader of the invaders cried out and her gryphon came at Ottery ready to snap his head off when suddenly there was a crack of thunder and a large lighting bolt struck in the middle of the castle courtyard causing a cloud of smoke and as it cleared there before them all powerful and majestic appeared Dumbledore.

"A bit melodramatic don't you think, Mandelbrot?" the headmaster asked.

"I thought I did well ... maybe not Oscar worthy but at least a Bafta or something," the Professor said laying the spear down next to him and standing up.

Everything stopped. Everyone, students and soldiers alike, turned to look at Professor Dumbledore, his sudden entrance having caught everyone's attention. "Besides, don't you usually leave these big little productions for your end of term exams?" Dumbledore asked goodnaturedly.

"I was testing the children Headmaster. You never know when Hogwarts might suddenly find herself invaded ..."

"Simultaneously, by an army of gryphon riding wizards, steam powered mecha, and demons."

"You forgot the dragon in the dungeons," the professor added from where he was sitting on the floor. "They're a bit of a specialty of mine. Used to try taming them once upon a time."

"What dragon?!" Dumbledore asked.

From atop one of the castle towers Draco Malfoy could be heard screaming down to them asking for his mommy, when suddenly a giant dragon tore through the battlements spreading its dark bat like wings to make it's final stand amidst a sea of purple fire. Draco was holding onto what was left of the tower wall which leaned precariously sideways.

"Wow, like in Sleeping Beauty," Ottery remarked. "I love that movie."

Professor Mandelbrot winked.

"You mean none of this ... is real?" Seamus asked.

Rolf who was cringing before a gryphon poked at it with his wand, and the beast snapped at him, "Feels real real to me."

With a wave of his hand, Professor Dumbledore made it all go away. The images shimmered and faded like smoke. The students looked around them. Ottery watched with an annoyed look as his heroic Ron disappeared. The school courtyard, the tower, the dragon, the cringing Draco Malfoy and the spear wielding soldiers as well as the Gerwalk mecha all were nothing more than wisps of smoky imagination.

"You mean it was all just ..." Dean started.

"An exercise to test our strengths and weaknesses. You wanted to see how we'd handle ourselves in a dire situation," Luna remarked. "Or you were trying to see if any of us were carrying shadow wraiths on our person."

"Right on the first one I'm afraid Ms. Lovegood," the Professor said good-naturedly. "No shade wraiths here."

"So it's not the end of the world?" Seamus asked again, incredulously.

"'Fraid not," Professor Mandelbrot replied smiling wickedly. "You all did remarkably well."

"Next time try to keep the world ending to a dull roar. I thought the Hufflepuffs were having a party in their dormitory," the Headmaster explained.

Calliope and Storm looked at one another. She looked away first and Alex sighed as she started walking away. Ottery crossed his arms and noticed Argent sitting in a corner of the room grooming himself. During the whole debacle he had seen an unfamiliar boy running around the school grounds wearing a Slytherin uniform. Possibly one of Professor Mandelbrot's imaginary invaders disguised as a student but Ottery had recognized everyone else in the dream battle. Every detail, every student, everyone had been the real Hogwarts to a meticulous degree. And during the whole invasion nowhere was the cat to be seen, yet here was Ginny, and Neville and there was the cat in the corner grinning daringly.

"No one leave please, I've still got assignments to hand out!" Professor Mandelbrot exclaimed.

Dumbledore gave Ottery a knowing smile and walked towards the great oak doors of the secret tower training room for the Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading and Action Adventure club, on his way to whatever secrets and machinations kept the headmaster busy.

:kitty:

AN:It's late no time for replies kiddies ... :shifty: I do so hope you all liked the action though ... :mwaha: now that's a tease, no? ;)

A few mysteries laid open but ... I promise more mischief w/Argent :O
:jump: Oh Goody!"How would Bond get out of this?" Remus thought to himself.
:P I love it when you put stuff like that in! Makes me giggle and forget my headache."Excellent!" Remus thought, "Now I know how James would do it." :woot:"This isn't looking good," Seamus said firing a fireball.
Ya think? But they're doing good though! I'm proud of them fighting back, instead of running for cover. Besides Ottery is amazing and all, but help is always a good thing. when suddenly there was a crack of thunder and a large lighting bolt struck in the middle of the castle courtyard causing a cloud of smoke and as it cleared there before them all powerful and majestic appeared Dumbledore.
I love Dumbledore. The man's got style."A bit melodramatic don't you think, Mandelbrot?" the headmaster asked.
"I thought I did well ... maybe not Oscar worthy but at least a Bafta or something," the Professor said laying the spear down next to him and standing up.
:xd::woot::rotfl: That was good even at this third time I read it.
Ottery crossed his arms and noticed Argent sitting in a corner of the room grooming himself. During the whole debacle he had seen an unfamiliar boy running around the school grounds wearing a Slytherin uniform.Yep, of course Ottery would notice that.
Dumbledore gave Ottery a knowing smile and walked towards the great oak doors of the secret tower training room for the Secret Saturday Morning Marxist Reading and Action Adventure club, on his way to whatever secrets and machinations kept the headmaster busy.
Was Ottery in on it the whole time?!?!?!?!?!:mwaha::mwaha:
This was such a clever post ~Otts. Can't wait till Remus is safe and sound. I am still so surprised he was a spy. I thought maybe Teddy was there. But that's fine. I can take Remus being a hero. Watching for your next post ~Otts

AN: I thought posting everyday would help to bring in new readers, but woefully it has not been so. *sighs* Oh well, 'the best laid plans of mice and men ...' that said, the muse has been tickled and while she's not back yet, at least she's listening to my pleas  you'd think I was trying to coax an old girlfriend back into a relationship, no? Perhaps that is what it is. :P In any event, she's not yet here, and neither are my new readers. *sighs*

Just the same I did say I would make this an epic story and I am going to! Just try and stop me ... no character piece this one  full blow, war and whistles and all the bangs and drama that go with it. I just won't be posting as often  not that I couldn't its just ... well, personal reasons. I am committed to this story so if you are reading please stay it will go places I promise and I will finish it. Now ... let's throw in more action.

Connie: Sorry Conners, Otty wasn't in on it ... otherwise he'd have been acting rather very well too, no?

If Wolf Hunter had had a diary it would probably have read something like this, filled with the crazy rantings and thoughts that pervaded his mind while on assignment:

"The problem isn't gettting into Hogwarts, the problem is whether I want to get in or not. I don't know anything about this Neville Longbottom except that I do know something about him and it's tied in with the loss of my memories. The problem with that is that I don't know why I lost my memories or even if someone isn't behind it. I've had to live with one eye over my shoulder looking always to see if anyone is watching me or if some assignment I'm on isn't just some trap to get to me. I sit there and try to find patterns in the cases and try to see if there isn't some over all plan or some scheme in which I'm a pawn, and ultimately the sacrifice. But to date there's been nothing.

I don't know anything except that I do know Neville and I do know Solemnity from some long ago long ago ... I just ... don't know how or why. I don't know why Solemnity doesn't remember me either, and I don't know why she makes me feel so ... so funny inside.

She also won't tell me what her beef is with the Longbottom kid. But from what I've been able to find out about him, he's as harmless as a mouse. Even Trevor has a more interesting night life than that nebbish."

Wolf stood atop the gargoyle watching the Ampersand Baxter Calderon Building. Meanwhile inside his prey waited.

:yoshi:♥:kitty:

"I've been trapped in this stupid castle for weeks now," the grey haired boy complained. "It's getting frustrating. I can't get anywhere near the Headmaster's office and heaven's knows what some of that old wizard's secrets would sell for on the black market."

The cat was talking to himself as he had no friends at Hogwarts. It was a lonely place, what with having to hide his secret. That annoying ginger cat kept following him when it wasn't the caretaker's cat, Mrs. Norris. The only ones who wanted to be his friends were cats and he honestly wasn't interested. One was a total witch, and that Hermione's girl's cat was too much of a goody-two-shoes. Besides which they couldn't help find any prospects to mine money. If he were going to be stuck in Hogwarts the least he could have to show for it would be a nice little profit, but petty thievery was not his game. He wanted a big juicy secret or some secret weapon. The whereabouts of the boy who lived really weren't that important. But he still hadn't found a way out of the castle so he couldn't even try to sell that to that serial killer Sirius Black.

To date his endeavors had proved fruitless. He sighed and walked the corridors of the castle stealthily as a boy. With as many students as the school had it was likely the ghosts thought he was just another student and he was not foolish enough to go anywhere near the Dementors.

I declare ~Otts! I should have known I wouldn't get lucky enough to figure things correctly! Oh well, it's still loads of fun trying. Wolf Hunter's Diary, if he had one, sounds so sad, but I'd love to find out more about his history also. I like him, and he makes me want to know more about Solemnity, and what her beef is with Neville. I keep thinking about his (Wolf's) flashback. Solemnity, Wolf, and Neville happening to be at the same place at the same time, all under circumstances unrelated. Or maybe not.:hmm:
But he still hadn't found a way out of the castle so he couldn't even try to sell that to that serial killer Sirius Black.
What? More intrigue! I thought I liked Argent, but, now, I don't think I do.
~Otts, Only you know for sure, but it doesn't seem to me that your muse is gone, because your writing is wonderful. And really, I'm not just trying to make you feel better. And I hope you keep posting often. It's a bad time for the kids, cause of school, college, and all. All those tests they're all busy with, makes it hard for them to read, yet alone post. I've only had a few readers since I posted Friday morning, and one commented. A new friend of mine you met her here last wk. Miss Weasley. And she is very busy trying to get her story back on track. I'm sure you still have all your readers. Catch ya later.

Your Blaise would probably be the kind of Blaise I write. Blaise is... just cool like that. XD As for Draco, I have written a bit of him on SS. Chocolate Kisses (http://www.snitchseeker.com/finished-fan-fics/chocolate-kisses-sa13-68793/), if you really want to read. Not to mention, the Draco Trilogy. It's the best fan fiction I've ever read, and it's .... just brilliant. So give that a try, if you can. =]

And, I guess age does matter. Even though I still don't see Draco as a whiny, little kid. ^___^

A wolf bounded away into the night, running and jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
Veryyy... picture-able. xD

Great posts, well-written and epic and everything.
Update, when you can. I'm here, and reading.
